Tom Riddle as your secret admirer at Christmas ༊*·˚
Word count: 630
Masterlist
Authors note: Different style of writing for me, half bullet points, half prose. Not sure what to call it, a drabble? no it's too long. Headcanons? no, there's a storyline. This was originally going to be a series of scenarios with Riddle at various relationship stages, but of course the next one I wrote turned into a beast (friends with benefits), so here's this while I finish the other. Whatever this is, I hope you like it anyway mwah ( ◕◡◕)っ ♡
︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶
You know of Riddle but you don’t really know that he knows of you
But boy, he definitely does know of you, way more than he should
He admires your intelligence, and kindness and looks from afar
He doesn’t want to complicate things for both of you by associating with you in public initially
AND he hates the idea of actually being vulnerable when not hiding behind the blanket of anonymity
He sticks to occasional anonymous gifts to satiate his inconvenient desires for connection with you
My angel,
Flowers that while exquisite, may never even hope to compete with your beauty. A mere shallow token from the deep well of feelings I harbour.
Yours,
T
Attached is a bouquet of your favourite flowers, enchanted never to wilt
Enough people’s names start with T that he’s happy to sign the card this way, unconsciously hoping you might figure him out
When you first receive them, you’re sure they mustn’t be for you, asking around all your dormmates to see if they might be for them
Nobody claims them, and they are your absolute favourite flower
You display them in a vase on your bedside despite finding the whole thing odd
A few more little gifts appear for you throughout the year, although you have doubts they could really be for you, they are all personalised to you
You spend many nights with friends pondering over who ‘T’ may be
Riddle knows how much Christmas seems to mean to most romantic couples, so he figures he must go all out for you
My angel,
The days are long and gloomy but ever brightened by your presence. Thoughts of you keep out the harsh cold at night, giving me my very first taste of what many call ‘the Christmas spirit’. I wish for us to spend time together like other couples do, cuddled together by the fire. Perhaps one day. I have never hoped for such things before, but you have changed everything. You are now and forever my angel. I worship you from afar.
Yours,
T
With this note comes a large box, full of various gifts
Jewellery, perfumes, chocolates, luxurious quills and ink, an intricate leatherbound diary, and indulgent bathing products, all perfectly tailored to your preferences
You’re unsure what to make of all this, half-flattered, half-creeped out
Riddle had pulled a lot of strings to get you so many expensive products, so is absolutely thrilled when that day at dinner, he spots you wearing the angel wing necklace he gave you
You don’t realise that both your initials are engraved on the back
When Tom Riddle, polite and charming Head Boy, compliments your necklace as you sit alone, you pay it no mind
Until he innocuously asks if there are any engravings, and you look down to see the letters T.M.R. staring back at you beside your own initials
He’s gone by the time you look back up, though a note sits on the table before you in familiar handwriting, clearly prepared ahead of time
My angel,
Seek me out tonight if you wish, I will not push. I will be in the back of the library awaiting you with great anticipation. I promise that with me you will live a very happy life and want for nothing. I am not as frightening as I may seem, I am merely afraid, and I will tell you all about it tonight if you come find me. Then perhaps I may hold you by the fire as I dream of if you’ll allow it. To me, you are precious, so I am willing to go slow. If I have made you uncomfortable, I will stop correspondence with you after tonight, but my heart will never leave you.
Yours,
Tom Riddle

As soon as you said a/b/o i was sold! And no omega!reader, you stole my heart! Let me know if this is too specific or not specific enough but could we know what would be the best way to court the omegas of team green? How would they want to go about it? What gifts would make them fold the fastest? Would they try to speed up the process against decorum if they got too desperate?
Ooo great question anon!! Since we’ve never discussed a/b/o before, I think I’m gonna write some general head cannons for courting omega!Aegon and also omega!Aemond and then we can develop from there?
While this answer isn’t really explicit, I’m gonna put it under a cut anyway just because I know a/b/o isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. All a/b/o will be tagged ‘a/b/o hotd’ so you can easily filter it out :))
COURTING OMEGA!AEGON HEADCANNONS:
- so obviously Allicent would have a whole line of alphas available and she’d definitely have one in particular that she wants for Aegon. Does Aegon listen to this? No absolutely not.
- I think the trick with Aegon is to find the middle ground between letting him be independent and also caring for him? Cause Aegon would HATE to be controlled but also he will giggle like a school girl and kick his feet if you open the door for him or pour his wine for him.
- while he does certainly like gifts, I actually think he likes small personalised gifts far better than anything expensive? He is quite literally the king he can afford whatever he wants.
- he could not care less about the giant gold necklace the Lannister alpha presented him with, but then you literally just pick a flower from the gardens that he told you was his favourite and when you give that to him he blushes and thanks you and hisses at the poor servant who tries to take it and put it in a vase.
- it should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that he’s not exactly one for traditions and decorum, and so if he can see that you accept that then he’s so happy.
- he’s also VERY possessive. From the moment he thinks he might like you, he hates the scent of anyone else on you. He’s well aware that scenting is looked down upon before mating but Aegon found not give less of a fuck because there’s another omega glancing at you and he will not have that!!!!
- it’s also very important to just speak to him normally? He hates when people speak to him formally and put on this facade. He needs to feel at ease and supported by his alpha.
- also he will indeed get very desperate as time goes on, especially because allicent digs her heels in a little about his choice
- there’s a solid three weeks where he’s just losing his mind cause he knows who is alpha is. He can’t stand having to entertain all these other suitors, he doesn’t want them!!!!
COURTING OMEGA!AEMOND HEADCANNONS:
- most people get courting Aemond terribly wrong, because they see his strong and skilled he is and how he’s so very very intimidating and so alphas tend to think he wants them to treat him like another alpha? And make no mistake, Aemond has worked very hard to get rid of the omega stereotypes and he certainly wouldn’t want all the alphas in the keep to treat him like an omega.
- but…. He just melts when you treat him like an actual omega? The others bring him swords and books and armour, all things he can get himself very easily and none of it impresses him. You bring him flowers and the softest blanket you can find for his best and he just absolutely melts because that omega side of himself is so so happy??
- he wants to feel safe and loved and cherished and yes he knows he’s not acting like someone who wants that but deep down he wants an alpha to treat him like a proper omega so badly.
- So when you introduce yourself and ask if you can stand closer and ask before you touch him and offer him nesting materials and pretty jewellery and just whooing him like he's any other omega
-- this is because when you treat him like that, it means you see him as an omega deserving of that? All the other alphas trying to get his are rude and entitled about it, acting like because he fights and rides a dragon and does things not stereotypical of an omega then they can just demand his hand and he's supposed to be thankful that anyone is interested in an omega like him
-- but you see all those traits and just thinks it adds to how incredible he is? So when he meets you and you ask if you can kiss his hand and go for a walk with him through the gardens? He's sold.
-- During your walk, you have very real genuine conversations and you listen to him and you give him the credit he deserves. You know he's very knowledgeable and you enjoy learning from him. The others expect him to be quiet.
-- I actually think out of Aemond and Aegon, it would be Aemond who gets the most desperate and is the most likely to beg their alpha for more before anything is official. I know this sounds counterintuitive but I'll explain: Aemond never actually thought he would find a good alpha.
-- Aemond was convinced he'd either be alone all his life or he'd have to settle for some pompous alpha who uses him and who he'd spend most of his days avoiding. So when suddenly there's an alpha who treats him well and listens to him and who makes him feel so wanted and safe? It's so so so hard to wait.
-- Allicent warns him, tells him that he can't take this too far before he's mated because if word gets out that he has then he'd never be able to find another alpha but what allicent doesn't understand is that this is exactly why he wants more. He doesn't want anyone else to even look at him. He wants to be drenched in your scent and so thoroughly yours that there can be no one else.

"to be loved is to be remembered" - a mini series by @cosmicalily. view series masterlist, and outline here
4. episodic memory | hwang hyunjin x fem!reader
episodic memory: a type of explicit memory that is categorised as the collection of personal experiences that occurred at particular times and places.
author's note: eeee and the series is finished!! suprisingly quicker than i expected! simply finishing a series is a big accomplishment for my adhd brain so i'm pretty proud of myself :) and having artsy hyune as the final piece after my art exam (my last exam of the year!) feels like a perfect fit. enjoy!
warnings: pregnancy (giggles mischievously)
Your room was a gallery, a time capsule of yours and Hyunjin’s love story. A collection of events, both big and small, some from the very moment, others recalled years on. Pictures from a photobooth, taken after your third date, pinned alongside a beautiful oil painting of the flowers he had bought for you on your one year anniversary. In his sketchbook, Hyunjin carried his immediate thoughts and ideas, his sensory and short term memory. A rough drawing of a handmade coffee cup he caught you admiring at a market, a sketch of an old couple that brought him anticipatory nostalgia, and many, many illustrations of you, his muse, his lover.
Whilst Hyunjin worked with a range of mediums on paper and canvas, often blending a mix into one piece, you preferred to work with ceramics. Sculptures and dishes and cups were scattered around your house, some decorational, others used on a daily basis. He loved to paint your pieces, and often your pieces became a blend of each other, something so beautiful and unique that neither of you could have created alone.
It was a warm morning in the small studio the two of you rented together. Currently, the two of you shared a two-bedroom apartment with Hyunjin’s friend, Felix, and his girlfriend, originally in order to save for a separate studio space. It was important that your home was a place for resting, and that you had an alternate space for creating. You had set it up with your kiln, a miracle secondhand market find, and Hyunjin’s easels. Whilst the studio you’d ended up choosing wasn’t as spacious as other places you’d visited, it had huge floor-to-ceiling windows that flooded the space in sunlight.
Each piece you created, whether together or on separate ends of the room, was a tangible memory of an experience you shared. Something you could look at on the wall or hold in the palm of your hand, a trigger to release a vivid recollection of a moment in your life.
Today, you worked on a set of plates. The two of you were currently saving for your first home together, after five years of dating and three of living with your friends. You wanted to make whatever place you’d be calling home in the next year or so time as personalised as it could be. Hyunjin, sitting on a chair by your clay-coated desk, dipped his fine tipped brush into a pale pink glaze, painting a cherry tree on a vase you’d fired a few days ago. You warmed the clay in your hands, dampening and smoothing and cutting as you felt the need for it, whilst Hyunjin did the same, alternating and mixing colours as the picture developed.
“You look pretty when you’re doing your thing,” you said suddenly, realising you’d been staring at your boyfriend, unbeknown to him, for a good five minutes. The clay had begun to dry on your hands, so you dipped them in the jar beside you, smoothing out the cracks.
“So do you, baby,” Hyunjin replied, his face creasing into a smile. The freckle below his lower lashes disappeared as his eyes crinkled into crescent moons, glittering in the bright sunlight.
He reached out for your hand, not caring that it was white with clay, and squeezed your fingers, painting one handed the way he usually did when you were with him. You sculpted one handed too, although this was a little more difficult on your part, and eventually you had to let go to place your plates in your kiln, along with the pieces Hyunjin had finished glazing.
The two of you washed your hands and sat down by the windows, drinking the loose leaf chai Hyunjin kept by a small electric kettle in the studio. Using one of your handmade teapots, he poured the tea and handed you a mug. You sat together, backs against the sun warmed glass of the windows, his arm around your shoulder, your head nestled in his neck.
“We’re going to make that home our nest,” Hyunjin murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“We aren’t even halfway saved for it yet,” you giggled, but indulged his fantasy nonetheless. “I want our bedroom walls to be green, dark green. Apparently it’s the most calming colour.”
Hyunjin nodded thoughtfully. “I heard that too. And I’ll paint the tiles for our bathroom; we need an actual bath, one of those pretty claw-foot ones.”
“I’ll make the tiles,” you offered, and he smiled at you, kissing the tip of your nose.
You sat together, soft jazz playing in the background, bodies against each other. The room was warm with the heat of the kiln and the brightness of the afternoon sun, and you knew, you always had, that Hwang Hyunjin, although he wasn’t your first, would be your last love.
“Can I draw something?” You asked, your head resting against Hyunjin’s thigh as he worked on a painting. You hadn’t been feeling well recently, so rather than work on your ceramics, you would sit with Hyunjin and watch him paint. He’d even put away his oils for the time being as he knew they triggered your nausea, and had begun experimenting with watercolours again.
“Of course, baby, my sketchbook’s on the floor,” Hyunjin replied, one hand slotted in your hair, gently massaging your scalp, the other holding his paintbrush.
You pulled a pencil from your bun, something you never recalled placing there, but always happened to be present, and began to sketch. You drew the white walls of the studio, sketched the shadows on the hardwood floor, and drew your boyfriend, his eyes focused, plump lips slightly open.
It was comforting, sketching. You understood why he loved to do it so much. It took your mind off the dull headache that hummed behind your eyebrows and the waves of tension in your stomach. You leaned closer into Hyunjin’s touch as you drew, adding small details and blending shadows with your fingers, until you felt it was complete.
“What did you draw, pretty girl?” Hyunjin asked, setting his paintbrush down and shifting his canvas to the drying rack in the corner. He sat down on the floor beside you and pulled you into an embrace, kissing your forehead gently. Although you felt far from pretty, your curls escaping your bun and your eyebags more prominent than usual due to a lack of sleep, you didn’t fight back, because you knew he wasn’t talking about your appearance. He always saw deeper than that.
“It’s the studio,” you replied, showing him the page.
“What’s the meaning behind it?” He asked, the way he always did.
“It’s the place where I first told you I was pregnant,” you whispered, your eyes glassy.
Hyunjin paused, not understanding. “But this sketch was right now, wasn’t it? Those are the clothes I’m still wearing.”
“Yeah.”
“Oh my God,” Hyunjin turned to you, eyes wide and sparkling. “Oh my God, are you having our baby?”
You nodded, and a tear trickled down your cheek and onto your lip. He wiped it tenderly with the soft flesh of his thumb, and you kissed his finger, not caring that it tasted of paint. “I took a test a few days ago when I was still feeling crap after a week. I realised I hadn’t gotten my period in a while either. I was really, really scared at first. Because we only just moved into our own place and there’s still so much to furnish and plan-”
“It’s okay, baby, it’s going to be okay,” Hyunjin interrupted you, stroking your warm cheeks. He tucked your bangs behind your ear and nodded at you slowly. “We’ll be okay. If you’re happy about it, I’m happy. If you're not, I'm not, and we can do something about it. I trust you and your body. Yes, it’s unplanned, but for fuck’s sake, we’re artists, do we ever plan anything properly?”
“No,” you giggled. “And I am happy. Really happy. After the shock settled down, I was flooded with this insane joy, because there’s nobody else I’d want to do this with other than you. Truly.”
Hyunjin’s eyes watered. “I’m happy. Incredibly happy. Can I paint on your belly when it grows?”
“Of course you can. They’re going to be the most creative little angel, I already know it,” You smiled, resting a hand on your stomach. Hyunjin moved his hand on top of yours, linking your fingers.

I’ve written a silly little roommate!Simon before but unfortunately the brain worms are back. Like, what if he’s MORE reluctant and also this time he’s not the responsible one because he’s literally just a guy and also minus other roommates
cw: he’s pervy, price is low-key misogynistic but he means well, allusions to sex but nothing graphic. Mdni as always
It doesn’t start off that way. You guys are neighbors, nothing more. You’re far more chirpier and social than he would prefer - always going out of your way to greet him and bake him cupcakes (‘I made extra!’) and pet his dog. It’s become strangely domestic in a way, he thinks. Poor birdie. Coddle him any further and he might be forced to make a housewife out of you yet.
So imagine his surprise - and quite frankly, delight - when he’s out on his porch for ye olde evening cigar only to see a group of men in navy overalls walking in and out of your house. There you are, standing outside, looking all worried. Hand clutching your chest and all. He looks your way, giving you one inquisitive nod.
‘Termites,’ you call out to him. He lets his cigarette fall to the floor, crushing it with the heel of his boot. Pulls his balaclava back down over his exposed mouth.
Turns out your house is infested with them. City’s declared it hostile, so you’ve gotta find a new place. And live in a motel while you do it.
Simon’s dick has taken him places he wouldn’t go with a M6 rifle. A Radiohead concert. Honestly, not worth it. A pottery class. It grows on you. And now, apparently, a segue that’s inevitably gonna lead him to do something incredibly stupid.
‘Motels are… basically hotels, righ’?’ He adds a huff of laughter, trying to mask how well acquainted he has grown with motels over time. It’s no trip to the Radisson, that’s for sure. ‘Sure it can’ be that bad.’
You look like a puppy that’s been caught breaking the vase. He can picture it in technicolor — ears all floppy, tail hidden between your legs.
With a sigh, he breaks his resolve. Actually, he takes a hammer and goes to town on his resolve.
‘You can live with me, if you want.’ The second part is his rational, north-bound mind speaking. An easy way for him to find a cop out without seeming like a right prick.
So he helps you move into his place. Doesn’t let you lift a hand or so much as crouch down to lift one of your trinkets that’s rolled out. You’re a wreck, always on with the ‘it’s only till I find a place’ and the ‘I’ll pay half the rent’. Relax, birdie. Don’t you know he’s getting as much out of this as you are?
He’s proven terribly wrong in the weeks to come, of course. What they don’t tell you about having a hot roommate you want to mount like a feral mutt is exactly that you can’t. So now he just has this lass in his house, wearing cute little pajamas and cooking for him.
You’ve also managed to get real comfortable in his house, he notes. Despite your initial trepidation to impose, you don’t mind at all now. He’s returned from his day at the base, walking into whatever the hell it is that you’ve managed to make his house now. He still hasn’t gotten entirely used to it.
Maybe because back when it was just him, his hood was only just that. A house, not a home. And that didn’t bother him one bit. His idea of a ‘home’ was drilled into him as the broken one he knew so well from his boyhood. So he makes no effort for personalisation. But it’s not exactly clinical, either.
Typical bachelor scene, really. Navy blue sheets — he can’t remember the last time he’s thrown them for a wash. That was the whole point, anyway, innit? No furniture except for the bare minimum. Fridge nearly always empty except for a single carton of eggs, bread that’s a couple of weeks old, and roundabout six coolers of beer. Give or take, depending on whether he’s had the gang come over for a game.
But it’s different now. The smell of cookies wafts towards him in the doorway. The faint sound of you humming from the kitchen filtering through in company. Riley’s on the couch, sleeping soundly under a crocheted blanket. Former K9, his arse.
‘Did you take my san’wich out of my bag?’ You do this song and dance every two to three days — home’s starting to feel empty without it. It goes somewhat like this: you decide he’s an incompetent man child and go out of your way to do something for him. Mother him, basically. He smiles, catches himself, comes home to nag you about your nagging. You bicker until your face is in a semi-permanent pout that makes his dick throb harder than he’d like to admit. Then he storms off and decompresses — literally — under a hot shower.
Why should today go any different?
‘Yes,’ you reply, not even looking up from the bowl you’re whisking. There’s flour on your cheek. With every movement of the whisk, your body jiggles in a downright sinful way. He’s not a pervert, he swears. But what is a man supposed to do, save for watching? ‘The bread was stale and the cheese was mouldy.’
You had replaced it with a club sandwich instead; filled with fresh, washed vegetables and wine-marinated pork. A small slice of key lime pie on the side, crunchy at the edges and frothy at the middle. There’d been a note attached to the lid of the box — one he’d made the mistake of reading in the vicinity of a certain captain.
‘A sour treat for my favorite sourpuss…? Jesus, Simon, you got a wife we ain’t privy to?’
‘’S the roommate. Won’t stop doin’ this… housewife shite.’ He’s glad he’s still got his mask on. Wouldn’t wanna be caught smiling at the so-called housewife shite.
Price chuckles, signature Duchenne smile buried in his rife beard. ‘Ya don’ seem terribly ‘appy abou’ it.’
He huffs. ‘She treats me like I’m a child. Does my laundry an’ all.’
‘You makin’ it worth her while, then?’ Simon’s ears burn at the tips. ‘The missus and I bicker a lot, too,’ he continues. ‘’S jus’ in their nature.’
‘What do ya do?’
Price grins, threading his lighter over and between his fingers. ‘Give it to ‘er good.’
He almost chokes on the key lime pie.
‘I’m serious. Foolproof.’
‘I can’t shag her.’
‘’Course ya can. She’ll settle down real nice. Ya won’t have to hear about the damn dishes or sheets again, tha’s for sure.’
It’s stupid. He listens to you go on and on about how he forgot to… do something. He’s lost track of what you’re talking about, to be quite honest. Some menial chore he hadn’t realised he was supposed to be doing until you’d moved in.
He’s not gonna shag you. It’ll make for an unnecessarily complicated living situation. He didn’t need that.
But, right hand to God; damn him if the way your hands moved when you were annoyed didn’t make him wanna put them behind your back and—
No, Simon. Bad Simon. She’s your roommate.
He’s Lieutenant “Ghost” Riley. Prized for his discipline, his need to maintain order. But all that seems to slip out of his hands like fine sand when it comes to you. And that’s how he finds himself at what he’s convinced is lower than rock bottom.

Something that I was kind of thinking about was how when we saw Yuichi's room we saw that Yuichi keeps vases & plates on shelves in his room & something that I was kind of wondering about is why Yuichi seems to like to keep vases & plates in his room.
While it is possible that the shelves full of vases & plates were already part of the room when Yuichi got it, when we saw Kitsune's room we only saw Kitsune's personal items in there with her which possibly means if Kitsune kind of personalised her room Yuichi could have possibly decorated his own room as well.
Something that I kind of wonder about is if the vases & plates that we see Yuichi keep in his room possibly means that Yuichi enjoys pottery, or that someone Yuichi knew, such as Auntie, might have possibly enjoyed pottery which ended up influencing Yuichi, or considering we don't really hear much about Yuichi's parents one of them could have possibly enjoyed pottery possibly leading Yuichi to collect plates & vases in order to feel closer to them as a reason on why Yuichi keeps plates & vases in his room.
Something that I kind of think about are Yuichi's interests outside of being a samurai, we know that Yuichi enjoys comics & books about Yokai but it is also king of interesting to think about Yuichi having other interests as well.

Now you’re becoming independent – responsible for your work and how it’s received. This transition from Apprentice to Journeyman entails two pivotal shifts. The first I’ve called ‘It’s not about you’, borrowing a phrase from magicians I’ve worked with. This requires a radical change in your focus of attention, shifting it away from yourself. Expert work involves doing something for someone else. Somewhere, there’s an audience – a person or people who experience what you do – though you don’t always see them directly. That audience may be obvious, as at a concert, a football match or a play. Here, expert and audience share space and time, and the work is synchronous. But in other fields, the audience is not there with you, and your work is asynchronous. When a potter makes a vase in a studio, there may be nobody else watching. But still the potter intends their work to be seen, whether in a shop, an exhibition or a display. Although the making takes place out of view, there is always an audience, even if theoretical, distant or completely unknown. Whether you’re an artist, a scientist, a clinician or a mechanic, this stage involves moving attention away from yourself. It’s the shift ‘from you to them’. ‘Them’ refers to the people who experience your work – your audience, patients or customers. This is a crucial transition, though it doesn’t always happen at the same point on the path to becoming expert. Sometimes it doesn’t happen at all. It’s possible to be technically brilliant but remain focused on yourself; to miss or corrupt the heart of what you are doing. In my profession, the occasional rogue surgeons who carry out unnecessary operations, or experiment without their patients’ consent, are often highly skilled. But they distort their work’s purpose, coming to think it is more about them than their patients. The second shift is Developing voice. I’ve taken this term from the world of jazz, where musicians will create a personalised musical fingerprint. As a performer, you reach a point where you are no longer a cog in someone else’s machine, but a creator of expert work in your own right. As you establish your style, you develop your individuality. Now, you are shaping your work and giving it your signature. You are taking responsibility for being yourself and establishing your own identity. That requires confidence and self-belief. It’s a subtle process, as it needs to develop in parallel with the transition to ‘it’s not about ‘you’ without making you arrogant or self-centred. You need to balance your emerging identity as an expert with a constant awareness of who your work is for. When this succeeds, you establish yourself as an individual, recognisable to those who experience your work. Alongside these two shifts runs Learning to improvise. By now, you are taking responsibility for the successes and failures of your work, and you’re responding to what life throws at you. You may be leading a surgical team, as I was. You may be developing your own research as a scientist, or setting up in business. You may be performing in public, writing a novel or heading up your department. Whatever your field, you’ll be faced with the unexpected, and you’ll have to improvise. When things go wrong, it’s up to you to fix them. At the same time, as a Journeyman, you have freedom. You can develop new ideas, challenge existing methods, put your own stamp on the things you make or do. As we’ll see, some of the most creative leaps come from serendipitous insights that nobody anticipated or planned. Improvisation is a hallmark of becoming expert.

5 Easy & Affordable Ways to Decorate Your Home for Any Special Occasion
When there’s a special occasion on the horizon, decorating your home can make it feel magical without spending more. You don’t need to hire professionals or break the bank to transform your space into something festive and inviting. With a little creativity and some budget-friendly ideas, you can make your home stand out and feel special for any celebration. Let me walk you through some easy and inexpensive ways to do it.
1. DIY Decorations: Let Your Creativity Shine
You’d be amazed at how much a little DIY can do. Making your own decorations saves money and adds a personal touch to your home.
Think of simple ideas like paper garlands, bunting, or handmade flowers. You can use cheap materials like colored paper, tissue paper, or fabric scraps you already have. If you have kids, this could be a fun project for them too.
Another idea is to repurpose things you already have. Empty glass jars can be turned into candle holders or vases. Add some ribbon, lace, or string lights for a cozy, festive vibe.
With DIY, the possibilities are endless—just let your creativity flow!
2. Custom Neon Signs: A Statement Piece
Have you ever thought about custom neon signs? They’re perfect for adding a bit of modern glow to your decor. You can pick it for a birthday party, anniversary, or even a festive holiday. These neon signs instantly make a space feel special.
You can personalise the message to suit the occasion—maybe a cheerful “Happy Birthday!” or even a simple “Celebrate” in a fun font. What I love about neon signs is that they’re not just decorations for one day. You can keep them up as a stylish feature in your home even after the occasion.
Sparky Neon offer a wide range of customisable options, so you can choose something that fits your theme and budget. It’s not as expensive as you might think, and the best part? You don’t need to worry about storage—they look great all year round!
3. Rearrange What You Already Have
Now, this might sound too simple to be effective, but trust me, a little rearranging can completely transform a space.
Start by decluttering and clearing out anything that doesn’t fit the occasion. Then, move furniture around to create an open and inviting area, especially if you’re hosting guests.
You can also bring out your “special occasion” items—maybe that fancy tablecloth, candles, or a few extra cushions. Rearranging doesn’t cost a thing, and it allows you to highlight different areas of your home for the celebration.
Sometimes, less is more, and simply refreshing what you already own can make all the difference.
4. String Lights for a Warm Glow
There’s something about string lights that instantly makes a room feel magical. They’re versatile, affordable, and easy to set up.
Drape them around windows, across walls, or even weave them through your DIY decorations. If you have an outdoor space, string lights can transform a garden or balcony into a cosy, twinkling haven.
You don’t need to buy anything fancy—simple fairy lights or warm LED string lights work beautifully. You could also experiment with battery-powered options if you don’t want cords everywhere.
The soft, warm glow of string lights creates an ambience that’s perfect for any celebration, no matter the occasion.
5. Flowers and Greenery: Nature’s Touch
Adding fresh flowers or greenery to your space is one of the easiest ways to decorate. You don’t even need to spend a lot—wildflowers, leaves, or branches from your garden can work just as well as store-bought bouquets.
Arrange them in vases, jars, or even teapots for a charming, rustic look. If fresh flowers aren’t an option, you can use artificial ones, which can be reused for future events.
Another idea is to create a small centrepiece for your dining or coffee table. Add candles, fairy lights, or a bit of ribbon to the arrangement, and it will feel effortlessly elegant.
Flowers and greenery add life to a space and help tie everything together, making your home feel fresh and festive.
Final Thoughts
Decorating your home for a special occasion doesn’t have to be expensive. With a little creativity and effort, you can create a cozy, welcoming, and festive space.
Start by trying some DIY projects to add a personal touch, and consider adding a statement piece like a custom neon signs, it’s a stylish, versatile choice. Rearrange your furniture, add some string lights for a magical glow, and finish off with some flowers or plants to bring in a touch of nature.
The best part? These ideas don’t just help you save money—they make your home feel unique to you. So go ahead, try these tips, and enjoy celebrating in a space that feels as special as the occasion!

stray kids — valentine's day flowers for you!
note: it's past midnight for me but i still really wanted to post this so here you go!! happy valentine's day from me and stray kids, i hope you enjoy their flowers! photos from pinterest
CHAN → chan is a classic guy but he is romantic nevertheless. he's just as cheesy as the people in the romcoms you two watch - maybe that's where he gets his ideas when it comes to valentine's day gifts. you get surprised with a similar bouquet of pretty red roses and a little note every year, yet somehow it always feels as if it's the first time all over again.
MINHO → minho knows your favourite flowers and always sticks to them. maybe he'll play around with the colours or the way they're arranged but usually he just goes with the ones he knows you adore. there's always a personalised note attached to them alongside a new photo of the cats, he knows you love them just as much as he does so he makes sure to pick a new photo that he knows you don't have every year.
CHANGBIN → he's a bit lost sometimes but he's trying his best. he knows your favourite flowers, except he doesn't know what that means. once he asked a florist for help and they laughed at him because "chris-ye-mum" isn't a real thing but he insists that that's exactly what you told him. that doesn't matter though because every year since you've been together, you have a sweet surprise of which flowers will be in your bouquet because it's never the same ones as the year before.
HYUNJIN → you are no stranger to hwang hyunjin's romantic side, he's always taking you out on dates and buying you flowers so valentine's day is no different - except it is. everything is scaled up. from bigger flowers and teddies to longer, tear wrenching letters that he has hand written just for you. hand picked flowers amidst a bouquet from your favourite florist shop. you are dating the world's most romantic guy and he'll never let you forget it.
JISUNG → jisung may be a bit silly and goofy at times, and he may have forgotten to get you flowers for valentine's day once or twice (or many) but that doesn't mean he's not trying. once he gets his head on straight he'll go out and buy you the nicest flowers he can scavenge, often mixing multiple different types of flowers he finds to make one big, beautiful bouquet just for you. he may not give you a had written love note but he will give you a box of chocolates to share!
FELIX → felix is always so sweet and thoughtful, so when it comes to valentine's day he has it all planned out days before. he has made a banner that he puts up in the kitchen and bakes you your favourite cake alongside a homemade meal with the help of minho. he has pretty flowers in the middle of the table and mood lighting candles surrounding the vase - there is no one that does it like lee felix.
SEUNGMIN → seungmin often seems indifferent to the lovey-dovey aspect of the holiday but he does enjoy spending time with you. so he makes sure to dress up nicely and take you out, maybe buy a particular bouquet of flowers that caught your attention just a bit more than all the others did and he does so with a smile because the shimmer in your eyes when you look at him as he holds the flowers is everything he needs to feel alive.
JEONGIN → a lot of people think that jeongin is inexperienced when it comes to relationships and valentine's day, however, he always brings you the prettiest flowers you could imagine. always knows when your favourite flower has changed so that he can get them in your favourite colours - and he has never once been wrong or out of date. he puts in the utmost care when he picks out the bouquets, makes sure that the meanings behind them are just as beautiful as the actual flowers.

Mavi made a very personalised gift! She made some pretty crystal decorations. flowers whos stems were fossilised bones, beautiful and probably incredibly expensive gems too. an entire vase with flowers of all forms and kinds, also one giant fossilised skeleton of Kyras favourite animal. it was painted and hat gems on it too. its a very 'Mavi' gift. Weird but pretty.
King and Nirjara got them some goodies, knives sets, Nirjara actually included a recipe book. It held special deserts and cakes that included most of their favourite flavours. it was very personalised, Akash made some doodles and step by step drawings for some. they are just adorable.
Jaws, Fox and Badger gifted them all together something, a big tank for snakes. like a MASSIVE one for Kyra which could hold a python, not a ball python, but a python. substrate, decorations, all was included. Damn, they all got a book filled with cuss words from different languages, it held all their signatures and some details to certain languages. That one was definitely for coffee
@under-art-reblogs
Ahdhdhdhhd wonderful gifts!! Coffee and kyra are gonna love them all. Wine will be quite annoyed with the snake tank though, and the giant fossil

DIY Flower Arrangements for Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is just around the corner and it's time to start thinking about the perfect gift for your loved one. Instead of buying traditional flowers, why not try something different and create your own DIY flower arrangements? Not only will it save you money, but it's also a thoughtful and personal touch that your loved one will appreciate. Here are some tips to help you create beautiful Valentine's Day flower arrangements.
Choose the perfect flowers – Start by selecting the perfect flowers for your arrangement. Roses are a classic choice for Valentine's Day, but don't be afraid to mix it up with other blooms such as carnations, lilies, or tulips.
Gather your supplies – To create your DIY flower arrangement, you'll need a vase, floral foam, floral tape, scissors, and of course, your flowers. You can find all of these supplies at your local florist or craft store.
Create a focal point – Start by creating a focal point for your arrangement. This can be a single large bloom or a cluster of smaller flowers. Use floral tape to secure the stems in place.
Build your arrangement – Add additional flowers around your focal point, using different heights and textures to create interest. Use floral foam to secure the stems in place and create a sturdy base for your arrangement.
Add the finishing touches – Once you've created your arrangement, add some greenery or other decorative elements to complete the look. You can also add a personal touch by attaching a handwritten note or a small gift to the vase.
Creating your own DIY flower arrangement is a fun and easy way to show your love on Valentine's Day. And if you're looking for the perfect venue for a private dining event in Illinois, look no further than Private Events Dining Illinois. Romantic Dinners Perfected: Tableware and Decor Ideas for Valentine’s Day Settings
Valentine’s Day presents an opportunity for hospitality venues to create refined dining experiences with carefully curated romantic dinner decor ideas. Thoughtful details shape an inviting atmosphere that enhances the occasion for guests. A well-designed setting can transform any space into a memorable backdrop for the evening.
Hosting couples or larger gatherings calls for attention to detail in tableware, floral arrangements, and decorative accents. Subtle elements, when thoughtfully placed, set the tone without overwhelming the space. Achieving the right balance ensures a romantic setting that feels effortless yet intentional.
Simple Yet Impactful Valentine’s Day Table Decor Ideas
Creating a romantic table setting doesn’t require lavish displays. Sometimes, the smallest details – folded napkins, delicate centrepieces, or soft candlelight make the main difference.
Here are some easy and stylish ways to enhance your Valentine’s Day tablescape:
1. Paper Heart Accents
Add a playful yet romantic touch to your tables by sprinkling paper hearts across the surface. Cut hearts from red, pink, and white construction paper in various sizes and scatter them around the table. This simple decoration is cost-effective but highly effective at setting the mood.
For hospitality venues with large dining spaces, consider using a cutting machine for efficiency. Alternatively, choose pre-made heart confetti to save time.
2. Folded Napkins for a Romantic Touch
Napkin folding is an easy way to upscale table settings without purchasing additional decor. A simple heart-shaped fold adds sophistication, creating a visually striking detail that matches the rest of the tableware.
3. Floral Centerpieces – A Timeless Classic
Fresh flowers remain one of the most popular choices for Valentine’s Day table settings. Even a simple arrangement of pink roses or peonies in a glass vase can serve as a stunning centrepiece. Low-profile floral arrangements encourage conversation while enhancing the overall aesthetic.
Floral arrangements are best displayed in porcelain vases. Their minimalist design emphasises the flowers without overwhelming the table. It combines durability with elegance, making it ideal for restaurants and luxury dining establishments.
4. Chalkboard Messages for a Personal Touch
Handwritten elements add a personal feel to dining experiences. A chalkboard sign, like the ones made by SECURIT, with a heart or romantic message can hang above the table, reinforcing the theme without cluttering the space. This idea works well for venues offering private dining areas or intimate booths.
5. Lace Doilies and Table Runners
Lace doilies bring a delicate, vintage accent to Valentine’s Day settings. Layer white or cream-coloured doilies over a bold red or pink table runner to create contrast. This method draws attention to intricate lace patterns, adding texture to the tablescape.
Restofair RAK’s Pro.Mundi table runners offer versatility for layering. Choose darker hues for a dramatic effect or soft pastel shades for a subtler approach.
6. Candlelight and Crystals
Candlelight remains necessary for creating a romantic ambience. Mercury glass candle holders filled with pink crystals add both texture and colour, enhancing the romantic glow of the table. You can pick flameless tea lights with timers to avoid concerns about wax spills or flames.
Candle holders reflect light beautifully and enhance the overall radiance of the table. Scatter extra crystals across the table for added sparkle, especially on black or dark-coloured tablecloths. If you want to take the mood lighting a step further, consider the ROSHA range of high-end lamps, which can deliver a romantic atmosphere on their own, but which also complement the romantic mood set by candles.
7. Personalised Drinkware
Branded or customised drinkware adds another layer of personalisation to the Valentine’s Day experience. For upscale venues, consider signature cocktail glasses or engraved champagne flutes, giving guests a unique keepsake from their dining experience.
For restaurants sourcing high-quality products, partnering with tableware suppliers in Dubai like Restofair RAK ensures access to premium options that enhance every dining experience.
Final Touches – Making the Experience Memorable
A minimalist approach to Valentine’s Day decor creates an inviting yet elegant atmosphere. The strategic placement of tableware, lighting, and textiles enhances the space for intimate dining. Each piece serves a specific purpose: floral arrangements provide natural focal points, precise napkin presentations demonstrate attention to detail, and coordinated place settings maintain cohesion throughout the space.
