"I was gonna say you're like a son to me.. but you're more than that."
Tumblr media
"It ain't that complicated!"
Tumblr media
How quickly that shoulder pat of comfort turned into a condescending one.
#he makes me feel so emo#this life was never meant for you but your fate was forced#the way dutch (and hosea) talks to arthur like he's stupid will never sit right with me#like they've been by his side over 20 years they KNOW he isn't stupid because if he was he would have been gone a long time ago#not only is arthur incredibly emotionally smart but he's a trained conman vault breaker gunslinger horse rider you name it#the fact that his own adoptive parents break him down like that hurts#it's a manipulation tactic on dutch's end - break your victims self esteem to make them chase your praise and approval#hosea I believe has just gone along with that kind of attitude but in a different way he just likes to jest lightheartedly#arthur doesn't see the difference though and it's understandable but he takes it to heart#the worst part is that hosea sees through his tough guy act and has called arthur out on it#his act is a defence mechanism to protect himself from being too vulnerable - in arthur's mind#and it isn't a sudden thing it's very likely something that has built over the years given the life he has lived#and hosea notices he knows this#but they still jab at arthur#oh it hurts#is he your son dutch? or is he your guard dog? your personal workhorse?#playing through the second time is opening my eyes more and more#rdr2#red dead redemption 2#mick squeaks#mick rants#mick gifs#arthur morgan#dutch van der linde#liveblogging#you guys gotta understand - arthur seeks and longs for dutch's approval he'll never say it but it's the key motive behind his loyalty#and arthur *rejects* dutch's comfort#he doesn't *want* dutch to pat him on the shoulder because he knows dutch is digging them an even deeper hole#he doesn't want that touch he craves#it's so insanely monumental for such a small scene because it shows us how arthur feels without telling us

On the one hand I agree dogs are capable of understanding when a behaviour is allowable and when it is not (ie, dog wearing a service vest to work versus not wearing a service vest), but, sorry, I don't think it's applicable with some dogs and some sports.

biggest idiotic dog owner pet peeve is when their dog tries to maim someone elses dog or honestly any animal and the owner goes 'omg my dog was protecting me!!' your dog is fear reactive, probably forgot you existed in the moment, and just wanted to kill the thing to save its own life

Alrighty, seminar thoughts!
-Overall, great experience. New training group was great to watch and I learned a lot of really subtle things I can't quite write down. Things like how to work a flirt pole better, tips for switching a dog from defensive drive to prey drive, ECT.
-I thought seeing all these nice protection dogs would refresh my desire to have a "proper" protection dog and I'm actually very happy to see that it didn't. I'm very happy with how I started Tassie and I intend to do the same with the next one. As he said in the beginning, it is very difficult to have a good sport dog and a good house dog in the same creature without years to settle in to the role. I had that with Reese and I don't want that again.
-On that note, this group spoke an entirely different training language for me and adjusting to each other was very difficult. There's absolutely nothing wrong with how they choose to start their dogs, I just do not intend to follow suit. To use balloons as a metaphor, they start their dogs by rapidly inflating the balloon and if it pops then they'll spend a ton of time fixing the pieces back together until it's a balloon with some problems again. Vs how I start my dogs, where I pinch the neck on the balloon and slowly inflate checking on the structural integrity along the way to ensure that it's properly inflated with no damage. I am not saying either way is better or one way or wrong! It's just two different ways of handling these very intense dogs and I like the way I do it better for what I want with my dogs.
-And still using that balloon metaphor, this was the only thing that annoyed me the whole weekend. It's no one's fault, again two very different training methods, this is his first time ever seeing me and my dog, and I absolutely am not offended or upset with him. I'm just irritated at how this happened but I'm not upset that it happened because I understand where the confusion was. Day One he tried to activate Tassie as a brand new dog and when Tassie didn't engage properly he said that Tassie didn't have it in her. I tried to give her permission to engage in the beginning, because Tassie is trained not to engage unless given permission, but I was told not to speak or she'd rely on me for everything. Which is fair, but what he was doing was trying to add air into a balloon that was already inflated and comfortable with the pressure so when there was no reaction he saw it as a lack of drive. Reiterating that I am not upset with his call, I understand that these two training languages are going to cause a bit of conflict, I'm just annoyed that Tassie was caught in the middle trying to figure out the rules of a whole new game in an entirely unfair situation. He did get her to engage in a stunningly short amount of time, but it wasn't fully because Tassie just didn't know the rules of what he was trying to play.
-Extending off of that into Day Two, our first run went a lot like the first day, and for my last run I informed him that I wanted to expose her to pressure first and then release her to prey drive. So I brought her down and did a heeling pattern to get her warmed up, then he had a few people move into the field. We started with them standing still and me heeling close to them, then they started moving around and pushing up to her, and this is where he started to get thoughtful. We switched to doing recalls through a line of people standing facing her and walking towards her, then T posing and walking towards her, and then crab walking towards her, and she was definitely uncomfortable but worked through the pressure by herself. Afterwards I called her into a heel and sat while he approached her other side, and we did have to correct the position a few times as he made the space smaller and smaller but by the end he was leaning into her ribs quite a bit (I was losing my balance lol) while Tassie ignored him and kept her eyes on my face taking food still. Once she was settled into the pressure fine I called it there and we switched back to the flirt pole.
-And the difference! He pulled it out and she started tensing up in excitement but still watched me, and when I released her into prey drive she was GREAT. Willing to deal with the pressure of new people, great possession, everything she should have been allowed to do on day one. He corrected his opinion and told me that she actually had a ton of drive, we just need to work her more, and he called someone else to practice their flirt pole skills with her as she continued to engage with new people once released. The dealing with pressure and engagement with high stress was what I was looking for from the seminar and we got it. Slightly disappointed we didn't get to do barking but next time I'll stand up for her better and get her into it.
-Overall, very glad I went. While Tassie didn't get everything she could have from this I got a lot to get her going better. There were a few foundational things I misunderstood and I have to go back and rework (I don't want to say mistrained because the stuff I did wrong was still good, she's just missing some elements), but I can do that at home. The problem is I NEED a second person to do it properly and there's very few people in my area that are dog-savvy and also willing to work with protection dogs. I.e., there's actually no one local to me but there are a few people I can do baby stuff with before finding the time and funds for a private lesson to go bigger. I fully intend to go to the next seminar with him, he did great work with her and I want to see what she can do with someone like him.

You don't understand how unhinged I feel trying to construct an ending for Bleach that I personally would enjoy while knowing Bleach does not deserve my time and also not remembering enough to actually make anything coherent. And yet here I am.
#god. no one gives a fuck abt bleaching. i am screaming into the void. y cant i put this energy into being productive#i just want there to be themes and a satisfying ending. and ending that is sad and yet happy#i just think. for me. ichigo kurosaki died on the night rukia pierced him with her zanpakto. oh fuck i cant spell. fucking strap in#i kno he didnt technically die according to the rules of the universe but i think as soon as ichigos soul left his body. that body became#a corpse. so when he goes back into it its not suitible to live in anymore and he only starts to feel that with the fullbring arc#i think when rukia jumpstarted his powers she lit the fuse of a bomb and becoming a visor allowed him to chanel his resentment#bc he does resent. ichigo is an emotional person. he felt emense guilt when his mothet died bc he felt he couldnt protect her bc he was#being raised to protect. the boy has a complex and its kinda fuckrd up and its 1000% isshins fault. so when thr opportunity comes for#ichigo to sacrifice himself for his family he does and he literally and metaphorically dies. his life from that point on is overtaken by#death. so what do we do with ichigo after everything is said and done bc he cant go back to being human he cant be a living corpse. he has#to go to the soul society. bc i like to imagine everything hes done to his soul. his twisted cosmically weird special boy soul. hes like a#bomb. its unstable and they need to teach him to control it so he doesnt tear a hole in reality and let thr hollows pour in. so its safer#if that happens in thr soul society. and rukia lil miss ice princess can teach him to do that. i would also make it weird with god stuff but#i never read the blood war stuff so i dont kno enough abt the gods. also i would make rukia more at odds with everyone who was gonna let her#fucking die and who overlooked her bc she should b held with more reguard for her fighting. but misogyny 😒 so then what do we do with#ichigo in thr soul society? i cant stand the idea of him becoming part of the institution. i cant. i think he should be rogue. rebell. idk#train to be strong and battle agaisnt the 13 court guard squad who r clearly going to try to control him as he tries to control himself.#send my boy to therapy so he can control his reatsu? is the the word? idk. maybe he should go to that dead dog district and look for kids#with spiritual pressure. he needs to feel useful. maybe id just give him weird god powers. i am an ichigo special boy apologist#thats as far forward as i can think. ichigo has to b dead. has to learn to control his power before he can go fight. rukia can teach him#he rebells against the institution. encourages rukia to go apeshit bc fuck everyone. and then idk. he keeps trying to save ppl forever#or he dies and destroys the universe. a big ball of resentment and bad feels and secrets upon secrets upon secrets. god y am i thinking#abt this so much. ive got bullshit to deal with. anyway. idk i just like ichigo a lot and i think thr ending to bleach is th worst forever#bleach ramblings

cane corsos are a dog breed i've genuinely become very interested in but i feel like i can't trust like... any videos on youtube or a bunch of other resources about them because so many (mainly white right wing men) make all these claims about how "aggressive" they are and "how terrible and bad they are" and "you shouldn't own one unless you're prepared for the dog to kill someone!!!" and it's like hey maybe let's not do that

I've never had a cat before and I'm hoping to get one soon. Do you have any advice?
Treat a new cat as you would a new roommate. Give them space and time to settle, establish a pattern and a rhythm, and in time they may choose to become friends and spend time with you. Dont force a friendship.
Use simple words and repetition to establish communication. Words like breakfast, treat, snack, lunch, supper, dinner, food, and eat all basically mean, "I am feeding you; expect to be fed", but it's a lot for a little guy to remember. I just say "Dinner" when I mean "cat food is coming", and so my boy knows exactly what I mean when I say it. As a plus, using only one word for snack time means he has no idea what the other words mean, so I can talk about food in front of him without ruling him up.
Pay attention to body language. Cats all have different personalities, and you'll learn their likes, dislikes, and messages over time this way. Son boy here loves anything with plumbing but dislikes getting wet- his favourite blanket to chew and snuggle goes on his favourite chair, and he gives me a specific gesture when he wants me to kneel down so he can jump onto my shoulder.
Read into problematic behaviour. Cats pee in weird places when they're hurting, in distress, or have insufficient of unclean litter box space. Biting, attacking feet , and knocking things off tables often means they're understimulated and need you to play with them, or at least need some kind of enrichment or puzzle to tackle. Tail flicking can be frustration or irritation. Purring is usually good, but may also be self-soothing behaviour to alleviate pain, encourage healing, and relieve anxiety, like over-grooming.
Like children, "bad" behaviour isn't malicious- it usually means there's something you aren't seeing.
Learn how your cat expresses love. Loads of people think cats are uncaring, cruel, and indifferent, but the truth is, they're just not dogs. Spending time near you, showing an interest in tools you're using or projects you're working on, sitting the way you sit, laying on their back, rubbing on your legs, wiping their face on your shoes when you get home- these are signs that your cat is enamored with you. You're their family, they feel safe and protected around you, they're curious about things you enjoy and want everyone to know you're family.
Set reasonable expectations. Again, cats are not dogs.We bred dogs to desire our approval- cats walked into our lives themselves. They have no human-programmed need to fulfill a duty or perform a task to your standards.
Training cats to do tricks isn't as hard as people say, but the willingness or interest in doing the trick is more heavily reliant on personality and mood. Some cats will refuse all but the most basic requests- I'm lucky in that Ollie understands and is willing to do several, provided I don't abuse his trust and he's not crowded or overwhelmed or just bored of doing it over and over in a short period.
Ollie, for example, knows Up to stand on his back legs and hold my hand, Down to get to a surface I indicate, Out to emerge from a closed space, Come to find me where I am, Help? when I'm offering to let him use me as an elevator, Dinner when I understand he's hungry and am getting food, and when I put on his collar he knows to climb into his carrier 'cause we're going somewhere. And he'll do any of these about 90% of the time, either ignoring me or phoning it in when there's something interesting somewhere else, or if he's feeling anxious.
Lead by example. If you dread taking them to the vet, they'll see the anxiety in your body language and behaviour and likely learn to hate it, too. Again using my guy an example, I starred taking him on walks long before his first vet appointment, just to get used to his carrier and leash. Then his first checkup was relaxed and informal, with plenty of treats, and I let him explore the examination room with permission from the tech. Now he loves going, so I'm not stressed about taking him, so I don't stress him out in turn, and the vest doesn't have to deal with a stressed out cat slowing things down and fighting with them.
Make sure your sources are good ones, and also good ones for you. I will recommend Jackson Galaxy's YouTube channel for cat advice because a lot of what he does matches up with what I've learned and know to be true. I don't personally recommend Ceasar Milan because I personally find his methods distressing to recreate regardless of efficacy, so even if that advice was useful, *I'd* be miserable, and it'd just be trading one issue for another.
Have a person who can help. You never know when you might end up out of town overnight unexpectedly, or when your place may need serviced or fumigated, or if you may be called out of town. Before getting a cat, research reliable pet sitters, house sitters, pet daycares, whatever, just in case.
Consider pet insurance. No long spiel here, just think about it. Especially if you don't know your cats ancestry or potenyial health risks. An on top of that, fucking vaccinate them.
Dont let them free roam. At all.
I grew up on a farm with free-roaming barn cats. Do you know how many times child-me cried over having to bury them? Illness, disease, pregnancy, vehicles, other territorial cats, ticks, fleas, litter, poisoned prey, malicious humans, local wildlife, predatory birds, scrap metal, extreme heat, freezing temperatures, tainted water sources, poisonous or venomous critters, getting stuck in small or high places, tapeworms, loose nails, old equipment, falling branches...
I've seen some truly body-horror slasher-movie shit- just truly nauseating visual fuckery- and I'm telling you not to let your cat free-roam.
Leash training isn't hard. Supervised walks aren't hard. Even keeping your cat physically fit and entertained indoors isn't an impossible feat. Don't let your fucking cat fucking free-roam. Fuck
Also read up on foods and plants cats can't do, like every houseplant in existence is toxic it's insane
Anyhow yeah that's like. A couple things I guess
Here, have an Ollie Pic

This is something I love SO much about Kuro, and about Dunmeshi's portrayal of Bilingualism.
Like ... When we first meet Kuro it's so easy to assume he's a dummy. He's a big doofy-looking dog man that only talks about food, and his sentences are disjointed and broken, so you think oh, haha, token dumb character.
But then we swap to speaking Kobold and it hits you like a truck - Kuro is a person, and he has a full and complete train of thought that he can articulate. This is a grown ass man, and in his native language he speaks just as well as anybody - not only that, but here we see that Kabru, who is usually so good with words, speaks Kobold just as poorly as Kuro does common.
It's such an easy, obvious, and common trope to depict broken speech in a characters non-native language as a funny gag at the expense of their intelligence - not even just in fiction! Making fun of non-native English-speakers for their broken English is so fucking common and normalized - and here you have such a clear and simple portrayal that, no, in fact, Kuro isn't stupid.
And the thing is, common is common for a reason, right. In general high fantasy, "Common" means "Language that is effortless for everyone to speak". But in Dunmeshi, it's explicit that Kobolds can't fully learn Common - Common is designed for Humans, but Kobolds are demi-humans with different mouths and throats that don't allow them to enunciate in the same way.
And yet Kuro is doing his best to study it. He's going out of his way to master a skill most others don't even have to think about. Speaking of which ...
Tumblr media
We get this exchange between him and Kabru, which I also wanted to focus on.
Because when we first see Kuro, then portrayed as a simple-minded dummy, it's easy to think that Mickbell is taking advantage of him and Kuro is unaware. Here, Kabru even assumes they can't truly be friends unless they speak the same language perfectly.
But that's not really the case - Mickbell isn't taking advantage of Kuro, not in the way we (and the rest of the party) assume - because Kuro isn't as stupid as we assume. He's thankful to Mickbell, he wants to repay him, and the food is a nice perk - but ultimately he cares about Mickbell enough to put this much effort into learning a whole language for him (while Mickbell cares about him in his own way, though since Mickbell grew up without a family or friends, it usually just manifest in over protectiveness and a fear of losing him. His goal in life is to buy a house for them to live in together. Cmon.)
I think generalising Kuro and Mickbell's relationship as unhealthy (whether you perceive it as romantic or not) is doing a massive disservice to Kuro's intelligence due to his speech - something Kui goes out of the way to disprove.
I love these idiots.

nobody knew simon’s name, his cold glances penetrating souls whenever someone on the force even dared to call him by his first name. he preferred it this way. he wasn’t the kind to blend personal life and work, he didn’t want to look at himself in the mirror without his mask and still see a murderer. his hands were clean, protected by the gloves ghost slipped on each time he reached base. it was soon that the other soldiers almost forgot his name, agreeing that their lieutenant was indeed a ghost.
that was until your worried voice called for him.
you didn’t know of the ghost identity, it had never even crossed your mind that your simon, your sweet and caring boyfriend’s personality would switch into a cold blooded killer as soon as he set foot at base or in the field. of course he never mentioned it with you, he sporadically talked about his job and his missions. you knew he was a strict lieutenant, but you had been kept away from more by the person with the skull mask and balaclava.
“simon?” you asked for the third time the receptionist. she apologetically looked up at you and shrugged. “oh cmon, simon riley. i know for a fact that he’s here. please, i need to see him.”
“i’m very sorry miss but…” the woman shook her head again, “let me call the captain.”
you sighed and sat down by the waiting area until a man walked in and talked to the woman.
“who’re you looking for?”
you stood up. “simon. simon riley.”
“ghost?”
you shook your head, almost clueless. “no, simon riley.”
“yeah, that’s him…” he said, “he’s training the recruits now. shall i deliver a message?”
“no, i need to see him personally. i wouldn’t have come all the way here if it wasn’t important, captain.”
you'd seen price a few times, simon's loyalty to the man was almost like a dog's one, always following orders and rarely complaining. he often talked about him when he was at home, all he shared with you about his threatening job was the friends he made along the way: johnny, kyle, price, gary, nikolai. he'd often go out for a pint—or two—with johnny and kyle, who also occasionally would come to your shared apartment for dinner with their temporary girlfriends.
"follow me." price sighed. you eagerly followed him, as close as his shadow, and the courtyard came into sight. dozens and dozens of soldiers in scarlet training uniforms were running laps of the immense open space under the pale sun, and that's when you spotted a tall and muscular man in black tactical gear. hell, he was hard to miss.
"another lap, smith!" his mancunian accent was stronger than his will to neutralise it. "if my gran was alive she'd be faster than ya."
you'd recognised the voice, of course, even if it was much harsher than usual, but you couldn't recognise him.
you realised, that was ghost. his cold eyes were studying each of the recruit's tired and red faces, his arms behind his back as he barked for five more laps for the ones who didn't look sweaty enough. even his voice was different, but what shocked you was the black balaclava with the white skull drawn on top.
you'd seen the mask once or twice over the years, shoved on the bottom of his duffle bag or drying on a windowsill, but you've never given it much thought, why would you?
"si?" you asked, standing directly behind him as price stood a few feet from you.
his head snapped in your direction at a worryingly fast speed, his eyes immediately becoming soft, then confused.
"what're you doin' here?" his voice spoke, much sweeter.
you kept staring at him, not recognising the man you loved.
he immediately grabbed the crown of the balaclava and yanked it off without a second though. holding the black piece of clothing in his hand, both of them came to cup your elbows, drawing you closer to him.
"love?" he called you.
still at loss of words, you reached to the balaclava and twirled it between your fingers.
"love, talk to me." his voice sounded worried.
"ghost?"
he shook his head. "simon, love."
"we'll talk about that at home." you raised your eyebrows, attempting a smile.
he looked at you impatiently, his fingers brushing up and down your forearms.
you fished in your bag a small plastic bag and gave it to him.
this wasn't like one of the times when he'd forget his lunch at home so you'd drop by and give it to johnny so he'd give it to an always so busy simon ghost; he could see it in your eyes that this was something more.
he unwrapped the plastic bag that you had rolled up on itself. his eyes looked brighter than ever when he took with shaky fingers the finally positive pregnancy test.

I am so unwell about the idea of a bee/wasp hybrid ???? Absolutely CLINICALLY down bad.
They’d be so soft and squishy and fluffy but so angry. . . Like a poorly trained purse dog.
Trying to do literally anything but bee/wasp hybrid bf just worming his way into your arms, grumbling and buzzing in annoyance. Can’t you see your cute boyfriend wants your attention?
God you can’t bring this man out in public. To most he looks so soft and sweet, but if anyone even looks in your direction he’s threatening to skewer them. Wasps and bees are very protective, so combining them is like throwing gasoline and fire into a tornado.
He’s so clingy, you’d think he’s been surgically attached to your hip. So soft and fluffy, but handsy and a bit rough. You never know what you’re getting with him.
One second he’s snuggling into you, little purrs and buzzes as his wings twitch in pleasure, then all of a sudden he’s biting your neck to establish dominance and shoving his cock into your fat cunt, stuffing you full of his eggs.
He looks like any other bumble bee hybrid, but he’s a bit angular like a wasp if that makes sense, with a reddish tint instead of yellow. Kind of like a person with strawberry blonde hair that leans more towards ginger!
He’s got terrible separation anxiety and instead of getting nervous he gets PISSED when he can’t be with you 24/7. Will absolutely show up and start fighting anyone that tries to keep you away longer than an hour or so.
Now imagine an ENTIRE HIVE of these bee/wasp hybrids! They’re absolutely overbearing… some combine the best aspects of their differing species, while the others bring out the worst.
But god you love them, and they adore you. They’re just angry, fuzzy little things!
