Two recent editions to my family of dots. I specifically wanted a green dot to name after Frank (@nostalgebraist-autoresponder) the bot. Now Frank will always be by my side, even when she's no longer posting on Tumblr.

So the new peridot game amirite?
Anyway this is my boy Basil, whose actually already an adult but tumblr wouldn’t let me post these pictures yesterday. I love his little skull tail and now he’s grown up his tail has like six skulls.
I’m already working on art of him as an adult, but I want him to have a baby first so I can draw them together

So there's this AR mobile game called Peridot that lets you take care of these creatures called Dots that can have all sorts of traits like different colors, patterns, horns, ears, tails, plumage, etc. And over on the game's Discord page some people were drawing their Dots as dragons and I wanted to join in since it looked fun!
However... I meant to just do simple lineless art with cell shading and get this done within a couple of days, but my brain went "HEY WHAT IF WE DID A FULL ON DIGITAL PAINTING?" Yeah... this took a couple weeks -~-"
I will say, it's been a long time since I've done any kind of digital painting in this style and it was pretty fun to play around with
(Also complete side note, if you've heard about the game and it's awful monetization tactics, that's mostly been fixed by now and the game is far better than it was at launch)

Sure maybe FR has its flaws, but lemme tell you, at least they didn't monetize breeding like Niantic's newest game, Peridot, did
Cuz good giddy god in a game that sells itself as a "Collect all the archetypes! Breed new Peridots with rare genes and patterns!", it sure shot itself in the foot over and over and over again by doubling down on "It costs 5 USD to breed a new pet in a game that is all about breeding new pets"
Peridot is cute, but not that cute

For anyone interested in the game I can recommend it. Though at the moment you have to pay to get more than 2 Dots, but Niantic said they are testing free alternatives/additions to the current method.
It’s very fun, the interaction with the dots is great! I love my babies so much. Blüper is now a cryptid oc of mine lol

A few more recent AR photos from Peridot that I really liked.
Also really glad to hear that the game will be testing out alternative methods of the breeding mechanic that will (hopefully) lead to nest items being earned through gameplay rather than money purchases only.
That said, I don't mind spending a little money for the Pride dot since the proceeds from the event go to charity!
