OK SO

ill do the shining rain series gang cause theyre the ones i can most easily explain, even though i dont have them all that well plotted out. we have

Adrin(she/her, pan aro) (these designs are all a little outdated sorry)

She's a Swirlvein, which is someone who was born with the ability to use fairy magic. Theres three kinds of magic: fairy, singing, and divine. She's a moderately powerful Swirlvein, with a specialty in magitech. She's from a pretty old family of Swirlveins and grew up pretty comfy. When she was sixteen, her little sister Jasmine(12) began acting out, stealing little things, and setting small fires, and Adrin defended her. It just got worse from there, and she and her sister were sent to a small reform school. They realized something sketchy and culty was going on there, so they ran away, and the school told their family that the sisters had caused a magical accident and killed several other students and some of the faculty. Adrin and her sister have been declared wanted criminals, and are on the run. She's snarky, fun, and good at magitech, though she does kind of resent Jasmine for their life now. At the time of the story, Adrin is 36.

Perhani (he/they, pan)

Perhani just woke up on the beach one day. He was approximately twelve when they first woke up, and is 35 as of the beginning of the story. Perhani doesnt know who he is, why he has scales, a tail, and ear fins, or why he has pretty powerful divine magic. They were found by a girl named Sara approximately his age, and they became friends, though when people found out about Sara's fish friend, they freaked out because why the hell is a god(?) hanging out here, and Perhani ran away. Eventually, he saved Adrin from some mercenaries, and they teamed up(and became a qpr). So he is TECHNICALLY a criminal now, but the authorities arent really sure what to do about him. Perhani's autistic pretty quiet, though he is very cheerful, and he is smart though he never really got an education. REALLY likes the ocean, especially kelp, plankton, and sharks. Likes cooking, is pretty serene, though can get pretty scary in a fight if necessary due to the whole ocean dragon god thing.

Jasmine (she/her, undefined) (her design is REALLY outdated; she has a pink buzzcut now)

Adrin's little sister! She's also a Swirlvein, her specialty being body warping(herself to become stronger, enemies to become weaker), and she is more powerful than Adrin. She had trouble in school and with socializing with other kids, was yelled at a lot, and started acting out. Adults just yelled at her more for this, and she kept doing it, until she was sent away, and you know the rest. She's currently in the gang with the others, though on the fringes. She's prickly and quick to anger, though she tends to just quietly seethe. Feels awful about how she caused her and Adrin's situation, but wont admit it. She is also autistic, big surprise from me, and REALLY likes cats(esp their anatomy), though she tends to keep this a secret. She dislikes Perhani for his closeness to Adrin, though cant really justify this without sounding like an asshole. She is 32 at the time of the story.

Zahra (she/her, lesbian, maybe trans i havent decided)

She grew up in a scholar community to the south, one dedicated to creating new singers. Singers, for context, are magic users that link to one of the seven elements because their personalities are similar to the ideals of the element. At the age of fourteen, she linked to the element of earth, the one of balance, stability, and growth, which is probably the best element to link to. She spent the next two decades studying as a singer, becoming a moderately powerful one, and marrying Arja, a singer of sky. She and Arja had a son, but the son was ill, and died. Arja spiraled, Zahra tried to help but couldnt, and Arja began Fraying(very similar to elemental corruption in aurora.) The higher up singers decided Arja was too far gone and had to be killed before she did too much damage, Zahra objected, but it wasn't enough, and Arja was killed. Zahra, furious at the higher-ups, started trying to research how to bring her wife and son back to life, and was exiled and stripped of title for it. Eventually, she found Adrin and her band and joined it. She dislikes Jasmine and Adrin for their more chaotic natures, but generally likes Perhani(it's really hard not to) and often helps him cook. She's pretty measured and calm usually, but will get angry, and is pretty smart. By the time of the story, she is 38.

Karim(he/him, gay)

Perhani's loser boyfriend. Grew up in a cult(incidentally, the same one that was running Adrin's and Jasmine's school) that worships a god called the Echo. The Echo is basically pure evil, and the cult is the only group on this world that has access to guns. He was in it for a while, then was tasked with taking down Adrin's squad, and tried for a while, but was eventually power-of-friendshipped into it. He is. so angsty. Generally very belligerent, tends to try to stay away from the squad while also trying to protect them(mostly perhani). Knows nothing about teamwork or self-care, and perhani is trying to teach him. Butts heads with literally everyone else. He is 38 at the time of the story.
