HIIIIIIII EVAN <33333
favorite tv commercial? MY FAVOURITE COMMERCIAL, OKAY SO this i didnt see on tv, bc i dont watch tv, but i really fucked with this 1 ad i got on youtube. it was THIS: took me a minute to search it from my likes its nr 758 jesus christ 😭
BASIC RUNDOWN WHY I LIKE THIS: this is Ivo Linna, one of our most loved musicians. he starts this video off with saying "if you don't watch this video till the end, they will ban me from performing our cultural songs." which is such a WILD fucking thing to say right. and he continues guilttripping you for another few sentences. then it glitches out and he tells you he was actually manipulating you! he was looking for someone who was guilty. Then explains why it's manipulation, and brings an example: "so when people want to skip ads, they don't blame the bad ad designer, but the person watching it"
i cant be bothered to translate the whole thing but you get the gyst. it was some campaign to raise awareness for widespread manipulation tactics. idk who ran this. but i love this ad!!! its so clever!!! in my opinion. visually not very pretty, but it worked on me. LOL

Eurovision 1996: The actual result
Even the scoreboard changed in 1996 - it went all virtual, lowered into place by virtual cranes on virtual chains. Poor Ingvild Bryn was sealed into a Chroma keyed room and told she wasn't going to be let out until all the scores were delivered and verified.
Here's the result and your spoiler warning for the result of the 1996 Eurovision song contest...
Yes they did it again. Ireland won for the fourth time in five years. Somehow this statistic often gets left out in the rush to say they won three times in a row, but four in five is even better. They did it by repeating their trick. Having seen Norway steal their clothes in 1995, RTÉ and the jury of Eurosong 1996 (the Irish one) weren't going to let that pass. They sent a very mystical, even more Celtic paean to peace and momentous times in history.
The host performed well in second with Sweden continuing to challenge in third. Croatia (4th), Estonia (5th) and Portugal (6th) got their best results in Eurovision, but really Ireland and Eimear Quinn ran away with this one. It wasn't even close.
Here's the result in full.
Ireland - Eimear Quinn - "The Voice"
Norway - Elisabeth Andreassen - "I evighet"
Sweden - One More Time - "Den vilda"
Croatia - Maja Blagdan - "Sveta ljubav"
Estonia - Maarja-Liis Ilus and Ivo Linna - "Kaelakee hääl"
Portugal - Lúcia Moniz - "O meu coração não tem cor"
Netherlands - Maxine and Franklin Brown - "De eerste keer"
United Kingdom - Gina G - "Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit"
Cyprus - Constantinos - "Mono gia mas"
Malta - Miriam Christine - "In a Woman's Heart"
Austria - George Nussbaumer - "Weil's dr guat got"
Turkey - Şebnem Paker - "Beşinci Mevsim"
Iceland - Anna Mjöll - "Sjúbídú"
Greece - Marianna Efstratiou - "Emis forame to himona anixiatika"
Poland - Kasia Kowalska - "Chcę znać swój grzech..."
Switzerland - Kathy Leander - "Mon cœur l'aime"
Belgium - Lisa del Bo - "Liefde is een kaartspel"
Slovakia - Marcel Palonder - "Kým nás máš"
France - Dan Ar Braz and l'Héritage des Celtes - "Diwanit bugale"
Spain - Antonio Carbonell - "¡Ay, qué deseo!"
Slovenia - Regina - "Dan najlepših sanj"
Bosnia & Herzegovina - Amila Glamočak - "Za našu ljubav"
Finland - Jasmine - "Niin kaunis on taivas"

Estonia are going to pick their entry this weekend when Eesti Laul wraps up, so here’s my ranking of the final:
REDEL – Tartu
Jüri Pootsmann – Magus melanhoolia
Kadri Voorand – Energy
Suured tüdrukud – Heaven’s Not That Far Tonight
Uku Suviste – The Lucky One
Ivo Linna, Robert Linna, Supernova – Ma olen siin
Andrei Zevakin & Pluuto – Wingman
Koit Toome – We Could Have Been Beautiful
Sissi – Time
Hans Nayna – One By One
Egert Milder – Free Again
Karl Killing – Kiss Me
Overall, I’m pretty happy with the songs that qualified. I do miss Wiiralt, and like most people I wanted Gram-Of-Fun and Heleza to go through based on studio cuts, but seeing the live of both I fully understand why they didn’t.
When I did the initial rankings back in December I had a clear top two, and that hasn’t changed. I enjoyed Jüri’s performance (even if I’m not so keen on the visual effects where they put more than one of him on the screen), and I was really impressed by that final chorus, all my worries about his live falsetto were proven completely wrong, it was brilliant! However, REDEL just managed to steal my number one position from him with their live of Tartu. I was all in on the studio track, but wondered how they’d stage it, but they more than lived up to my expectations. I loved the chaos, and I’m legit impressed with how they keep up the vocals throughout, keeping your voice that high-pitched while rapping must be hard. If anything, I could have done with it being slightly more obnoxious, for example the blast of sound at the start could have been louder, like the studio cut. It’s a novelty act, sure, and it would tank in the semis if by some miracle it got to Eurovision, but it’s still so great.
I found a lot of the songs grew on me in the months since i first heard them - I like Ma olen siin equally to how I liked it when I first heard it, but it’s dropped from my third place to my sixth just because of how my opinion’s on other songs have changed. I really overlooked Energy the first time around, but I’ve fallen in love with it. It’s a stripped back piano ballad, but it’s one done right. I love how it builds and then plays with dymanics, especially on the repeating ‘and we ran’ moment, and Kadri pulled it off really well live, bringing the emotion it needed. I considered Heaven’s Not That Far tonight a guilty pleasure back in December, but there’s no guilt here now, it’s just a full on pleasure, we need songs that bring the joy and fun like this.
As for Uku, The Lucky One has also grown on me, even if the ranking hasn’t changed. It’s a basic pop song, sure, but it’s one I enjoy, and I was actually into the performance, I like bad melodrama, and the lightning and the chains sure was that - not sure if that was the intention, but it worked for me. I think he’s the most likely to win, and I’ll honestly be happy if he does.
Despite some changes in my ranking with several songs growing on me, my conclusion is the same - I really want Jüri to win, but I’ll be happy for Uku if he does. I also still think there’s no guaranteed qualifiers in this entire selection, but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see either Jüri or Uku reach the final comfortably. I can’t see a winner here, but even if another song does get picked (I could see Koit winning, and I’d be overjoyed if Kadri managed to snatch the victory), Estonia should have a good chance of getting a good result.
#esc2021#eurovision#nf ranking#Storm qualified in 2019 and I prefer nearly every song in this final to that#so Estonia probably should qualify#but then again the songs I like don't always connect with the general public#I haven't spoken about Koit at all I honestly really like We Could Have Been Beautiful#it's also grown on me a lot since December#but nearly everything else did too#I'm gonna be doing my ranking of the Portugal final soon#then maybe Sanremo#I might get to Sweden first or I might just wait for the final there

The Estonians 2021
I used to love the Estonian finals. I looked forward to their songs. I can say I have avoided writing this until now because Estonian final and I have fallen out of love, and we now just glare at each other across the room like enemies. There have been some classic songs that are chosen, but for me, their best songs seem to come every three years (give or take) and that ain’t good.
So ERR have a list of songs which they have split into two semi finals that will be performed on February 18 and 20, before their final on March 6. The artists each have a clip of their song and some of them are very good. But I wanted to listen to the songs and I’ve put down my notes from that.
Semi-final one Tanja: “Best Night Ever” A dance number which will be great on stage with alot of choreography. It has a good sound and decent lyrics. Hans Nayna: “One By One Hans has an interesting deep voice that is very nice to listen to. The song is quite good, maybe a bit quiet that it is forgotten. Wiiralt: “Tuuled” A very country sound. It’s unique at least and it may stand out for being different from the norm. Kea: “Hypnotized” Uptempo song with excellent dance beat and good lyrics. Vocals okay, a decent song. Andrei Zevakin & Pluuto: “Wingman” Is it bad it took me 30 seconds to figure out this was not in English? It’s a speak-sing song, and while the music is nice, I’m not that into it. Karl Killing: “Kiss Me” Sounds quite raw and acoustic which is a nice difference to what you hear in a national final. It does feel a bit juvenile, so I dont expect it to go far. Nika Marula: “Calm Down” This starts quietly and then there is a burst of sound. Like to see this live and see how it goes. Egert Milder: “Free Again” A pleasant and joyful kind of song. I like everything about it. Curious how it will stand up to the competition. Tuuli Rand: “Üks öö” A fun song to listen to. It has a nice beat. Tuuli has a very generic voice. Koit Toome: “We Could Have Been Beautiful” A wonderful song that has peaks and troughs and ups and downs. Suits Koit’s voice quite nicely, should do okay. Kristin Kalnapenk: “Find A Way” Estonian jazz song; the music began and I was waiting on her to start singing, and she already had. The song has a good feel and seems to grow somewhat. Ivo Linna, Robert Linna, Supernova: “Ma olen siin When I saw that Ino Linna was singing, I wasn’t happy. Song is good though. I like the feel and the tempo and everything.
Semi-final two Sissi: “Time” This lady has a very nice tone to her voice, and it suits the tempo of the song nicely. It is an emotional ride. Gram-Of-Fun: “Lost In A Dance” Good beat to the song, but the vocals are a bit low and may need to be performed more powerfully to have an impact. I like it though. Kadri Voorand: “Energy” Sweet, high voice and song played at piano. Interesting song, but Í’m not sure if it has enough to capture the audience. Helen: “Nii kõrgele” Feels like Estonia of the past with some nice harmonies and pleasant beat. Not sure though. Redel: “Tartu” What is it? It seems to be a joke entrant, but it may not be. The music is great, the vocals are a mix. It feels like a mix of Meiecundimees üks Korsakov läks eile Lätti and Leto svet. Rahel: “Sunday Night” A different sound to some of the others, but it doesn’t have enough to be competitive in this field. Uku Haasma: “Kaos” Song is a bit too quiet and forgettable. Sadly, I was more interested in the film it came with than the song itself. Heleza: “6” French and Estonian is a really nice combination. I like it; don’t understand it, but I like the vocals and the beat. Uku Suviste: “The Lucky One” Vast improvement on last year’s song. Much more interesting and the tone of this song is better. Uku is making the final again. Alabama Watchdog: “Alabama Watchdog” Something to awaken you from the stupor of the Estonian song selection. Heavy in the sound department. Thankful for something new and interesting. Jüri Pootsmann: “Magus melanhoolia” A vastly superior song to ‘Play’. A mix of strong vocals and interesting music makes it a stand out song in the semi final. Suured Tüdrukud: “Heaven’s Not That Far Tonight” Not sure about this. It reminds me of something else submitted to Sweden many year’s ago. Hmmm.
Conclusion
I don’t know why I didn’t wait and review these when the finalist were known instead of the torture of listening to all of these. I may come back and change my mind because I’d like to see them performed live before I can say what will win.
At this stage, don’t be surprised if one of the former winners takes the crown. Of the others, Alabama Watchdog seems the best,

Url Song Tag
I was tagged by @martianmadness66. Yay, thank you so much! It's been a while since I've been tagged in a new kind of game (I tend to avoid repeating the ones I've already done).
I just wrote the names of the songs (starting with the corresponding first letters) and the artists that perform them, which came to my mind first (completely random), BUT.. which I really like. I used the opportunity and snuck in some (4) Estonian artists, too.
Btw I want you to know that I see you in my notifications, going through my posts (almost) daily. And I'm so happy that you like my blog! ^_^

Janek vent about Eesti Laul 2017 Final
So I decided to write my vent about the Eesti laul final.
Firstly the stream that didn’t work at the beginning were a huge minus. I had to start watching on my computer. i missed Juri and Liis but I watched these performances on youtube. I will vent only about the songs i will miss the intervals(Mans go away). i loved to see Poli there!
1.Liis Lemsalu - Keep Running
Probably my favorite song studio-wise. The performance could be a bit better though. I loved the glowing sticks and her outfit. The problem was that a song about running was very static. I didn’t understan the pink balls on the stage. Her vocals were really good.
2.Koit Toome & Laura - Verona
My vent about winner I will start with the red envelope situation.I thoguht for a second that Kerli won haha. To be honest i love this song. It may sound cheesy but when you hear it you can’t stop humming to it. The only minus of this was the staging. It reminded me of bad version of Goodbye to Yesterday. They need to improve it. Overall Estonia is now my 2nd in my ranking so I’m happy with result.
3. Whogaux & Karl-Kristjan feat. Maian - Have You Now
I really love this song. Their live vocals were very good! There were some worse things about this. 1st is Maian’s dress and shoes that didn’t match at all :/ The biggest minus of the performance was staging. It was very empty but at least they walked on the stage. They could have added dancers like they did in semi-final.
4.Lenna Kuurmaa - Slingshot
Ok this performance was such an experience. That’s lady and gentlemen is how you do stagings. The song isn’t the best thing ever but holy fuck that staging.Flying Lenna was the best experience I had in all nf’s.If the song was better it would be my favorite from all of the songs here.
5.Daniel Levi - All I Need
It’s FUNNY HOW THIS GOT TO THE FINAL AND NOT ANGEELIA. I’ve got a break when this come so I don’t know what to write about it. I don’t like it. His vocals were bad and I don’t like the staging that much.
6.Elina Born - In or Out
The spree of Stig’s last places are coming again. Personally I love the song and it didn’t deserve the last place but I had some issues with the performance. Firstly the big O. Why. I mean you are in o and out of the o but they could do it better. Add some dancers and make Elina dance too but not the O. Secondly the suit of Elina was? It seemed so uncomfortable. I still try to understand why Elina was last though...
7.Ivo Linna - Suur loterii
The staging of this song was really good. I loved the vocals too. But the song doesn’t speak to me that much.It was an average performance
8.Rasmus Randvee - This Love
Ok this performance was lit af. The camera angles, camera shakes, his vocals were so good. The only issue I had was the song reminded me of Play a bit? Overall it was my favorite last night.
9.Ariadne - Feel Me Now
This song is good. I love the studio version and her vocals were really great. But the staging... It was so static. It’s hard to make a staging to a song like this but they could add some dancers and the staging would be better. Whogaux & Karl-Kristjan feat. Maian had similiar problem but they did a better job than Ariadne.
10.Kerli - Spirit Animal
Ahh the fan favorite. It grew on me a lot but the performance oh God. Her vocals were so of. Especially the last part. And staging now... It was so extra. There was a lot going on at the same time. You couldn’t be focused on one thing... It reminded me when my winner before MDGP was Sada until I saw the staging that was very extra that it made me like it lesser. People will talk she was robbed but 2nd place is a good place.
My top:
1.This Love
2.Verona
3.Have You Now
4.Keep Running
5.In or Out
6.Slingshot
7.Spirit Animal
8.Feel Me Now
9.Suur Loterii
10.All I need

Final Eesti Laul Opinions
Alright I’m gonna get these out of the way before the Final this week, but I will also do Melfest opinions and finally update my placing list!!! Just been thinking about this a lot so yea here it goes
I personally think like... almost any song in this final is worth sending to Eurovision, give or take a few. It’s a really strong final, and like honestly one of my favorites this year
That being said I’m just gonna go over the songs real fast and my opinions on them (IN RUNNING ORDER)
1.) Keep Running by Liis Lemsalu: I think this song is extremely charming, and I actually liked the live a lot. Her vocals can improve a bit but it’s honestly a great song. I don’t think it will win but I hope it places well!
2.) Verona by Koit and Laura: OK so this was my favorite going into the competition, and I have to admit I was a little let down by the live. Koit’s vocals were very on point, but Laura’s were lacking. This has the potential to be such an explosive awesome song, but it just didnt hit it last time. If they improve for the final, I think this is a potential winner. It’s a cheesefest, no doubt, but I love it lol
3.) Have You Now by Whogaux & Karl-Kristjan feat. Maian: This is one of the ones I don’t want to win. It sounds good recorded for maybe a party or something, but not for Eurovision. Reminds me too much of Closer, and honestly it is very awkward to watch on stage.
4.) Slingshot by Leena: Her vocals also underwhelmed me... and this is just overall kind of boring. In a year with so many female ballads already chosen, this needs to not be picked.
5.) All I Need by Daniel Levi: Its kind of like Have You Now, good radio hit.... not so good live. Was kind of forgetful, but I do enjoy it.
6.) In or Out by Elina Born: Elina is definitely the best performer out of the bunch, shes very charismatic and her vocals are on point. The song is just kind of.... okay though. But she definitely elevates it with her performance, and I would be ok with this winning!
7.) Suur Loterii by Ivo Linna: I actually love this. If you have this in last I will personally fight you. Ivo is so talented, so genuine, and once you learn the meaning behind his song, it becomes very emotional. I really don’t care if people think this is old fashioned or are biased against him because of his age, I truly think this is a great entry. I know it won’t win and it’s not my winner either, but I would be glad to see it happen.
8.) This Love by Rasmus Rändvee: This live performance really surprised me! He was charismatic, the staging was great, and overall his vocals were good too. At first this was towards the middle for me, but its inching its way to the top. I would be ok with this winning!
9.) Feel Me Now by Ariadne: Ok like I know this song is very simple, but I really enjoy it. This is my type of music. However, although her vocals were good, Ariadne was super stiff when performing. If she’s gonna win, she’s gonna need better staging. I would be ok with this winning!
10.) Spirit Animal by Kerli: Alright... I’m pretty conflicted with this one. In my personal opinion, I think this would do best at Eurovision for Estonia. Kerli is internationally recognized, and the song is much different than everything else out there right now. However, that being said, I kind of don’t want this to win. For one, the song is kind of appropriative. Yeah yeah don’t try and come at me with that “youre an SJW!1!!!”, because Kerli is literally using parts of sacred Native American religions in her song, and my Native friend is also really pissed off at the song because of it. Obviously she doesn’t represent every Native out there, I bet you could find some cool with it, but I think it’s best to refrain from using outside religions in a song, unless you’re pulling something like Italy this year, which is a critique on appropriation (like he’s literally critiquing what Kerli is doing lol). So yeah that’s not cool. Putting that aside, I also think Kerli tries way to hard to be edgy and a lot of her fans are kind of annoying. Maybe I’m just being too harsh, I dunno. All of that being said.... I do think the song is well structured, and the staging is eye catching and well done. Her vocals definitely need work, but if it does win it will do well for Estonia. Judging it without the extraneous factors I mentioned above, I would be ok with this winning, it would actually probably be kind of high on my list, but just things dont sit too well with me about this song.
So who do I most want to win? I would say Verona. I’d take innocent cheese that does alright in the contest over edgy appropriation that does well in the contest. Verona has a lot of potential, and as long as Estonia works well with it, I think it’s my favorite.
Here’s how I would rank the songs.
1.) Verona
2.) Feel me Now
3.) This Love
4.) In or Out
5.) Suur Loterii
6.) Spirit Animal
7.) Keep Running
8.) All I Need
9.) Sling Shot
10.) Have you Now
Honestly, anything from my 7th place up would be a great choice for Estonia in the contest and I would be ok with winning, in fact most of them would make my top 10 eurovision songs over all. Again, this is just all my opinion. If you like some songs I don’t, thats fine! IF you hate my top songs, that’s also fine. It’s been a great final so good luck to everyone in it!!

I’m not sure I’m in a position to comment on the “look” of this duet. Don’t know the artists or the context all that well. So I’m just gonna take a step back and say Estonian is such a lovely language to listen to.

Admin Britta’s Eesti Laul 2021 songs review:
As every year, I shall review the songs. You didnt ask for this yet you’re getting it.
1. “6″ by Heleza - It’s catchy. I like the combination of Estonian and French. Funky. It would pale at Eurovision but I can see this be a radio hit. Spotify playlist? Yes!
2. “Alabama Watchdog" by Alabama Watchdog - I am not sure how I feel about this. I think this will be a grower on me? I can hear a very strong Estonian accent/pronounciation throughout the song. Spotify playlist? Maybe.
3. "Best Night Ever" by Tanja - Disco. It’s very Tanja and what you’d expect from her. But overall this song gets a no from me. Spotify playlist? Absolutely no!
4. "Calm down" by Nika Marula - I can imagine a very cool staging for this song. It’s an interesting listen and I can see this going to the final at EL, but not at Eurovision. It’s.. good. Spotify playlist? No.
5. "Energy" by Kadri Voorand - I have an imagine in my head of Kadri Voorand and this song does not match it. She has an amazing voice but the song feels empty. Spotify? Nah.
6. "Find A Way" by Kristin Kalnapenk - The ~vibes~ are great. The voice matches the song and atmosphere perfectly. It’s very typical (?) but I like it. I think I can see this get into Eurovision final with some magical staging? Maybe? I can dream. Spotify? Yes.
7. "Free Again" by Egert Milder - Slight country song vibes. I tend to like all Egert songs to a certain degree and this is no different. It’s good, will definitely provide strong competition to others. EL final 100%. Spotify? I think so.
8. "Heaven's Not That Far Tonight" by Suured tüdrukud - Pure disco, as expected. They are both so strong singers that they are kind of overpowering each other and it makes me feel confused. I don’t think I like this. Spotify? No.
9. "Hypnotized" by Kea - This has to be the most “radio” song I have heard so far on the competition. The chorus is too much. Spotify? No.
10. "Kaos" by Uku Haasma - Unique. Very different from others in the competition this year. EL final? Yes, I can see that. Eurovision? No. I dont think this would even get votes. It’s a decent song, but that is it. Spotify? No.
11. "Kiss Me" by Karl Killing - A song for the teens. And I am not a teen. Nor can I really “stand” these songs anymore. It will probably do well at the competition. Spotify? No.
12. "Lost In A Dance" by Gram-Of-Fun - Catchy. But I unfortunately do not like Aaslaid nor her voice. I don’t see this being a strong live performance either. I am very interested in seeing how this will do at EL. Spotify? No.
13. "Ma olen siin" by Ivo Linna, Robert Linna, Supernova - Look, Ivo Linna is a different class, alright? This song will have lots of potential live. I don’t hate it, it’s simply good. Spotify? Maybe.
14. "Magus melanhoolia" by Jüri Pootsmann - I like the song a lot but I don’t know if I like the very screechy chorus that comes out of nowhere. It’s very Eurovision and I can see it have a flashy staging and all that jazz. Strong competitor and I would like its success. Spotify? Yes.
15. "Nii kõrgele" by Helen - There is no bang in this song. Boring, very heavy Estonian 2010s pop. Spotify? No.
16. "One By One" by Hans Nayna - A very unique voice at Eesti Laul. It’s incredibly Eurovision, radio, Spotify, live, etc friendly. I like this a lot. I hope the slightly raspy voice will come through in the live performance. Spotify? Prossibly.
17. "Sunday Night" by Rahel - She has a very pop music friendly voice, which is nice to listen to. I vibe to this. Would not be a very strong competitor at Eurovision tho. Spotify? Yes.
18. "Tartu" by Redel - OK I am very conflicted. I don’t really like the song (or the concept), but it’s by Indrek Vaheoja which makes the song make sense? So I do like it? Sooo.. I am intrigued. Spotify? Probably not but I think I see myself searching for it.
19. "The Lucky One" by Uku Suviste - Well this is much better than what he won with last year. But it’s suo heavy Estonian pop that I can’t bring myself to like this. I hope he won’t win this year.. Spotify? No.
20. "Time" by Sissi - A quality song from Sissi, as expected. This is a strong entry. I feel like it needs a strong staging to get to the final in Eurovision but I can see it do well overall. Strong power ballad. Spotify? No.
21. "Tuuled" by Wiiralt - Too heavy country, but I appreciate it being in Estonian. And I like the lyrics. Eventually I get bored tho. Spotify? No.
22. "We Could Have Been Beautiful" by Koit Toome - Nothing surprising here. I’m not very into it. Spotify? No.
23. "Wingman" by Andrei Zevakin & Pluuto - The beat and flow is good but I do not like the lyrics. Although I made a rule not to be affected by the videos I do not like that either, ruining the vibe of the song completely. I also don’t see how this will translate at all on stage. If if works I can see it making it into EL final. Spotify? No-no-no!
24. "Üks öö" by Tuuli Rand - Another very Estonian pop song. It’s not the worst in this competition, but if feels bland. Spotify? No.
Most of the songs I got tired of about 3/4 through, unfortunately. Overall score for the competition this year: 7/10. I don’t see anything getting us into Eurovision final.

The fact that Ivo Linna got bigger cheers than any of the performers tells very much about Eesti Laul
