Perekoo kinda but it’s really sad
-
Y/n is in love with Alma but Alma loves Isabelle/Miss Cookoo.
And one day y/n corners Alma, just before she plans to leave the loop.
(You know that one line in “American Pie”?)
Yeah, she just looks Alma in the eye and says “Well, I know that you’re in love with her, because I saw you dancing in the kitchen.”
And she leaves. It breaks Alma’s heart because, deep down, she loved y/n too, but in the end she chose Isabelle.
-
brb crying 🤪
-
I think that before she left, a day before maybe, she had asked Alma a previous line, “Can you teach me how to dance real slow?” because she’d already seen Isabelle and Alma slow dancing nights before. She just wants to know what it feels like to dance with Alma, to be that close to her, and, the ymbryne not thinking anything of it, heeded her request, and taught y/n how to slow dance. It was the last time y/n ever got that close to her love, the last time they touched.
but y/n never forgot it, even after she left. she found abe, and moved in with him (as friends, she never really got over alma) until he was attacked.
that was the day she died. she had nothing to live for anyway. but jake found them both, abe and y/n, and after abe gave his speech, y/n just murmured “tell alma i love her. please.” and then she let go, with the image of alma smiling at her in her head.
and jake did. he told miss peregrine about y/n, and alma immediately knew who he was speaking of. and then he just said “she loves you. she told me to tell you that.” and alma collapsed into a chair, realizing that you were gone too.
even isabelle couldn’t comfort her after that. it was the day the music died in that house.

Pairing: MissPeregrineXMissCuckoo
Warnings: sickness but comfort :)

Notes: I know I know, this took me ages, terribly sorry about that. Also about one tiny thing (because it bothers me somehow): I settled for Fay as Alma's nickname given by Isabel YEARS ago and I actually find it cute to this day. I did cringe the hell when I wrote this because I don't wanna write my name in there so we'll just pretend like I'm not called Fay, right? Thanks🥲
Anyways another thing, there will be a little bonus "chapter" coming soon, as an apology :)
Oh and please let me know if you liked it!! <3
----
It was a normal day, really.
The children were playing in the garden while the birds were chirping outside and the sun was shining through the big kitchen window.
Alma was teaching the last lesson for the Ymbrynes in training while Isabel was standing in the kitchen washing the dishes from lunch.
Just as she had put the last plate into the cupboard she could hear the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs.
She looked out of the kitchen and saw the class coming downstairs and separating themselves to go into the garden or the living room.
Isabel smiled slightly as she watched the few girls that went outside to enjoy the sun.
She put the towel away and made her way upstairs to the classroom that was full of students not even a minute ago.
The door was slightly open so she knocked and pushed the door all the way open.
The huge classroom came into view, with large windows and the wall plastered with pictures and posters.
At the end of the room sat a tiny woman on a desk that was way too big for her, leaning over some books and papers.
She looked up when she heard Isabel enter the room and gave her a weak smile.
"I see you are still working," Isabel chuckled as she made her way through the classroom.
Alma mustered her shortly before returning her gaze to the papers in front of her.
"I'd also love it if this paperwork did itself but sadly…," she sighed slightly as she gestured at her desk.
Isabel took a look at the papers, now standing on the other side of the desk.
Then she whispered: "Looks awfully boring."
She looked up and met Alma's face just a few inches from hers. There was a small smile on her face from the comment but there was also something different.
Quickly Isabel noted mentally, how tired Alma looked. She would make sure that she got to rest later.
Isabel leaned forward a little and dropped a kiss on the small woman's lips before she stood up again.
"I'll bring you some tea and then we can maybe get some things done together, I also need to prepare some lessons."
Her eyes met the green ones opposite of her and they seemed to shine a bit more than before.
"Thank you, that's very kind of you," Alma smiled.
"Anything for my favorite falcon," she laughed, making her way back to the door.
She heard Alma chuckle in the back but when she turned her face again, Alma's nose was already stuck in the papers again.
So she made her way to the kitchen to boil some water.
In the meantime, she collected all the things she might need to work on the next lesson.
When everything was there and the tea on a tray, Isabel left the kitchen but before she could make her way back to the classroom she bumped into Emma.
"- my, I'm so sorry Emma."
"Oh Miss, I was actually looking for you! Do you have a minute?"
Isabel looked at the tray in her hand, then at the blonde girl in front of her.
She sighed, putting everything on a cupboard and following Emma to the garden.
They stopped under a small tree where Bronwyn and Millard were sitting, a massive book in their lap.
Isabel raised her eyebrow and looked at the three children in front of her with a questioning expression on her face.
"Uhm-, well, we know that you two aren't the biggest fans of celebrating your birthdays and all that," Emma started slowly, nervously fidgeting with her hands as she spoke.
"We still wanted to make something for Miss Peregrine," Millard finished quickly.
Isabel's face softened and a small smile formed on her lips.
"And how can I help you with that?" she carefully put her hand between Emma's to stop her from picking her skin and returned her gaze to the two children under the tree.
Emma's gaze flicked to her hands and the Ymbryne beside her before going to the book in Bronwyn's hand.
"We started to collect pictures from the past weeks and months since a lot has happened and changed," Millard explained.
"And we have collected them into one big album," Bronwyn said, gesturing to the book in her lap.
"We were wondering if you might want to add something yourself."
The Ymbryne thought about it for a short while, then she shrugged lightly.
"I don't think I have anything newer that I could add."
"Nah, we already have newer pictures of you two-," the invisible boy blurted out.
"Millard!" Emma tried to shush him.
Isabel narrowed her eyes slightly and looked at Emma who suddenly looked very uncomfortable.
She sighed and agreed that she'd see what she could find.
Leaving the kids to discuss the rest, she made her way back inside.
The tea had gone cold so she brought it back into the kitchen and quickly made a new one.
Finally, she reached the classroom with a delay of 47 minutes.
Carefully not to startle Alma, she knocked on the door.
When no answer came she knocked a second time and after being left in silence again, she slowly pushed the door open.
She nearly dropped the tray when the room came into view.
Quickly she put it onto the nearest table and rushed to the oaken desk.
Alma was lying with her head on the desk, looking incredibly pale.
When Isabel carefully laid her hand on the younger woman's forehead to check her temperature, she noticed how warm she was.
She cursed internally for not doing something when she had noticed an hour ago that something was wrong.
Gently she started to nudge Alma's shoulder to wake her up.
After a minute she slowly started to open her eyes, tiredly blinking at Isabel until her vision became clearer.
Then in seconds, her head shot up when she realized that she was lying on her papers.
Immediately she regretted the sudden movement as her head started to hurt again and tiny black spots began to cloud her vision.
Isabel caught her head, just as she started to faint again.
"Why didn't you tell me that you felt this bad?" Isabel scolded her softly.
"It's not that bad. -'m fine," Alma whispered, barely audible.
"Yeah, I can see that," the other Ymbryne sighed. "Come on, let's get you upstairs."
Eventually, after a little bit of convincing, they made it into their shared room and Isabel got Alma to lie down.
"Stay? Please?"
Isabel sat down on the bed, carefully taking Alma's hand into hers.
"I can stay until you are asleep, but then I have to go check on the hatchlings and see what we're gonna have for dinner later."
It didn't take long until Alma was asleep. Isabel pulled the covers over the sleeping woman and did as she said, checking on the kids and Ymbrynes-in-training.
When Alma opened her eyes the next time the light in the room was dimmed and the house seemed to be quiet.
Not having the strength to stand up, she turned her head a little to the side. There was a tray on the nightstand with a small bowl and a teapot on top of it.
In the small armchair on the side of the bed sat a tall figure, cuddled in a thick blanket.
She looked up when she noticed that Alma was awake. Isabel smiled warmly at the ravenette’s tired face.
“What happened?” Alma rasped, not being able to move her head.
Isabel got up from her chair and sat down on the bed, carefully taking Alma's hand in hers.
“You are sick, and you passed out because you wouldn't stop working on your papers,” Isabel replied, a thick layer of worry in her voice.
“Nonsense, I'm not sick!” Alma murmured weakly, barely keeping her eyes open.
The other woman couldn't help but chuckle slightly at Alma's not-at-all-convincing reply.
“Well then, I made you soup. Here, you need to eat something. That shouldn't be a problem if you are not sick, right?” she teased, taking the
bowl from the nightstand and holding it out for Alma to take.
But she only groaned and threw her arm over her eyes. “Seems like you've defeated me.”
The cuckoo set down the bowl and softly squeezed the small hand she was still holding.
“Alright Fay, go back to sleep. But promise me that you'll try to eat something when you wake up the next time! It will help you get better soon!”
Alma nodded slightly but Isabel was sure that she hadn't listened to her anymore and was already asleep.
——
She didn't get better, rather the opposite.
Three days had passed since she had collapsed over her desk. She had slept through most of the days and had barely eaten nor drank anything, looking paler than ever.
“I miss my children,” Alma whined weakly.
“But you need rest!” Isabel protested, her arms crossed over her chest. This argument has been going on for a while now.
“And I promise that I will do that, it's not like I can move anyways,” the ravenette pleaded, “I just miss seeing them!”
The older Ymbryne sighed loudly.
"Fine! But if they bother you too much, I'll send them to their rooms again!”
“Deal!” Alma gave a weak smile.
Isabel nodded shortly before picking the small woman up and carrying her downstairs into the living room.
The room was quite warm and comfortable. The fire in the chimney was crackling softly and the kids were sitting splattered around in the room, some reading, some playing games, or simply talking.
However, they all looked up and happily greeted the two Ymbrynes as they entered the room.
“Your Ymbryne is still sick so please let her rest,” Isabel reminded the children as she threw the blanket over Alma's shoulders.
She left the room to make some tea and when she came back a few minutes later, Alma was fast asleep again.
Isabel noticed however that Alma seemed to be much calmer than before and she could swear that there was even a hint of a smile on her lips.
Alma was slowly getting better over the next few days.
When Isabel checked on her, the following day, she was sitting on the sofas, wrapped in a thick blanket and having little Claire in her lap.
Olive was sitting to her right and they were coloring a picture together.
It was an adorable picture, that Isabel had to pause for a minute and just watch the scene.
It was at this moment that Isabel realized that the kids really seemed to do Alma good. And from that moment on she was sure that things were gonna be okay again.

Uhm Perekoo wip that I made like idk 5 years ago?? Uhm I originally wrote this with an OC of mine (because at this point I didn't know Isabel yet...or she hadn't even existed? Idk), so if some things are out of character huh🤷🏼‍♀️ and also keep in mind that this was written by a 16 year old Fay so the phrasing might be... questionable
Szenario:
Okay so I know it sounds pretty weird and it’s probably something that the Ymbrynes would never do that because it would be too dangerous to bring their kids all to the same place and leave their loop for one day plus every Ymbryne has to rest her loop at different times during one day but anyways.
What if the Ymbrynes would do some kind of “festival” every 50 years to mourn the dead but also celebrate the new Ymbrynes who finished their education.
All Ymbrynes are coming and they are taking their kids with them. It’s a day of celebration and making new friends with people from other loops.
Miss Aideen Noa Redkite is my own character. I did a character sheet thingy for her here on Tumblr ages ago but for now, the only information that you need is the obvious one, that she is an Ymbryne.
-----
When they arrived, the room was filled with loud talking and laughter. Music was playing softly in the background.
Right before entering the big hall, Miss Peregrine turned to her children with a stern expression.
“Before we go in, I expect from all of you to behave and be polite. I don’t want any complaints later; did I make myself clear?”
Everyone nodded quickly because they didn’t want to wait any longer. It was their first Ymbryne festival after all and they were very nervous and excited to see it.
“Good, then you can go and have fun,” she said and stepped out of the way.
Alma looked after them when they entered the hall and began to disappear in the crowd of other children and Ymbrynes.
She already felt bad for letting them out of her sign in a room that was mostly filled with strangers and she had to remind herself that there were so many Ymbrynes around and no potential danger.
A female voice pulled her out of her thoughts:
“So are you ready?”
She hadn't even noticed that while all of her kids had flocked inside, Isabel was still hadn't left her side.
But the older woman didn't really wait for an answer and just walked past her to enter the big hall. When she looked back at her Alma nodded slowly and followed her.
It seems that the majority had already arrived but however she couldn’t spot Miss Wren nor Miss Redkite.
She followed Isabel who had started to go through the crowd while she was always looking back to Alma, to make sure that she could follow her.
Isabel stopped when they reached a small table on the other side of the hall.
“Is it okay here? I thought it isn’t completely in the centre of everyone’s attention, but you can still see the stage. I mean if you want to go somewhere else then we can go there too, if you even want my company. I can also leave you alone if you want some space…,” Miss Cuckoo began to stutter, something that was rather untypical for her.
“Izzy,” Miss Peregrine interrupted her, and she looked up to meet Alma’s eyes. To her relief, Alma was smiling at her.
“It is a good place, thank you. Oh, and I quite enjoy your company and you should know that by now."
That made the other woman smile too.
“Okay, good. Do you want something to drink or anything else?” she asked.
Alma looked at her, narrowing her eyes slightly.
“Well, I doubt that they have tea here.”
Isabel shrugged and disappeared in the crowd again, leaving Alma to stand at the table alone.
Alma sighed, looking at the place where the older woman just stood some seconds ago.
Something was different with her, but she couldn’t quite figure out what it was.
Maybe it was the fact that she hadn't been at the festival since she was a little kid but on the other hand, it hadn’t bothered her much to be at the festival back then so why should it now?
Her thoughts drifted away so that she didn’t notice an excited redhead who was making her way to the table. She was smiling brightly as the red curls framing her face jumped up and down with every step.
“Heyyy!”the said redhead exclaimed, when she had reached Miss Peregrine.
“Good evening Aideen,” she replied but she seemed to be somewhere in her thoughts.
“Are you alright?” Miss Redkite asked. The excitement that had been in her eyes some seconds ago had turned into worry.
It was when Alma finally looked up and wanted to answer her question when a third woman arrived at the table. Alma's face lit up a bit when she saw the older women and the other ymbrynes eyes seemed to glisten as well.
“Alma, Aideen it is wonderful to see you two here,” the older woman greeted them.
“I’m glad to see you here too, Esmerelda,” Miss Peregrine greeted her, and Miss Redkite nodded in agreement.
“I do hope that you two and your children will have a nice evening today. It is your first Ymbryne festival for years after all.”
“I’m sure it will be lovely, yes,” Aideen replied, and Miss Peregrine was happy that she didn’t have to answer the question.
She had never been a big fan of parties and festivals, but she didn’t want to ruin the fun for the others either.
“Oh, I see Isabel is here too!” Miss Avocet said and smiled into the direction of the silver haired Ymbryne. She was just coming back with two cups in her hands.
“Esmerelda, how lovely to finally see you again!”Isabel smiled, putting the cups down on the table.
“Well then, I’ll leave you three alone again. I just wanted to come and greet you,” Miss Avocet said and with these words, she left to greet the Ymbryne that just arrived.
“Yeah well, I think I will leave you too...and get something to drink,” Aideen said and waved shortly, “see you two around.”
Miss Cuckoo looked after them, then her confused gaze wandered to Alma.
“Uhm…did everyone just leave because of me or?” Alma just raised an eyebrow and shrugged.
“Maybe they are jealous that they didn’t get something to drink.”
Isabel rolled her eyes.
“Sure, that’s going to be it...oh, and by the way they did have tea!”she said and held one of the cups out to Alma.
“Really?” she said, surprised,” thank you!”
For a moment they stood there in silence sipping their drinks but only until a little boy caught their attention.
He was standing maybe 5 meters away from them and looked curious up to them until Isabel waved him.
“Hey, don’t worry, we don’t bite,” she laughed slightly because the boy seemed a little scared now that he got caught staring.
But the Ymbrynes words somehow seemed to calm him down and slowly he took some steps forward to their table.
“I know who you are,” the little boy finally said while pointing at Miss Peregrine.
The raven-haired woman raised an eyebrow and tried not to instruct him that polite people did not point at others.
“Yes?” she simply answered.
“Yeah! You are Miss Peregrine, right? Known to be the youngest Ymbryne?” the boy said excitedly.
“I guess that is me, yes,” she then replied after a short while, ”and may I know your name?”
“My name is Ian Franklin.”
“Delighted to meet you,” Alma said and shook his small hand.
The boy's gaze wandered to the other Ymbryne who had stood there without saying a word.
But Ian didn’t bother to ask for for name because his curious mind has already switched to the next topic.
“Are you two married?” he asked, looking from Miss Cuckoo to Miss Peregrine.
Isabel's smile dropped and Alma's eyes widened.
“No, no we are just old friends”, the younger woman managed to get out, clearly uncomfortable with the question.
But Ian didn’t seem to notice because he just shrugged.
“Okayy, well you two seem like you are.”
“Well, sorry to disappoint,” Isabel said with a slightly forced smile.
She didn’t quite know if she should be happy about the assumption of the boy or embarrassed, but what she knew is that this situation got very awkward and she just hoped that this wouldn’t mean that the conversations between Alma and her were about to be this awkward the whole evening.
----
Uhm yeah, have this I guess?😂😭 I will never finish this but huh🤷🏼‍♀️
It just heavily reminded me of the last story that you posted @peculiar-lesbian :)

Heyy lovely folks, here's my fanfiction update :)
It's been a little over a month since I started my last Perekoo fanfic and yk bad mental health came around meaning that I didn't really have the mind for writing.
Two weeks ago, I looked at the document again, and I am not kidding when I say that I completely forgot what I wanted to do with the story originally. I barely write down outlines, so I had no idea anymore where I wanted the story to go.
But today on the train I finally remembered and did an outline for it!
I'm not saying, to get your hopes up, but I'm working on it again and hoping to get it done soon! :D Thank you for all the understanding comments and your patience!
Lots of love to you all! <33

Always the fool with the slowest heart
Pairing: MissPeregrineXMissCuckoo
Warnings:, hurt no comfort, major character death
Word count: 430
Tags: @sam1kath @vykanya
Notes: listen, I am really really sorry.
I also kinda wish I could have done this longer and yk deeper into Isabel's feelings but I just suck SO MUCH at describing and expressing feelings and all that so I decided to leave it at this before I make it awkward and weird help
--------
It was quiet.
It wasn’t supposed to be.
People were supposed to celebrate but somehow…it was quiet.
The starlings were circling over their head for a moment before disappearing into the little holes in the roof.
She wasn’t supposed to cry, no one here was, and yet she couldn’t help the tears that were slowly making their way down her brown cheeks.
It wasn’t necessarily because of the general funeral thing but more because of the thoughts that kept repeating themselves in her head.
She had lost the last bit that had been important to her. The bit that she had clung onto so dearly that it had started to consume her entire thoughts and dreams.
And now in one moment, everything was gone.
Forever.
The friendship they had, the memories they had shared, all gone.
She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that she would never see the ravenette again.
Never would she be able to see her face again, hear her talk again, hear her laugh again, feel her arms around her when they’d hug, and never would she be able to tell her how she had felt about her all these years.
Isabel had vowed to keep her feelings for herself. Keep them locked away so she wouldn’t risk ruining their friendship.
But there had always been this little piece of hope inside of her that maybe it would work out one day. That maybe one day she would actually be brave enough and just tell her.
However, this was now impossible. This hope, shattered in seconds.
But the worst thing was this promise. This one damned promise that she had made to this little black-haired girl all these centuries ago.
That she would never ever leave her side.
She had pursued this promise since this day, always finding her way back to her best friend, making sure she knew that no matter what, she was never going to be alone.
And then there had been these 5 seconds where she hadn’t paid attention and  now it would hunt her for the rest of her life.
These seconds that it had taken to rip her friend from her.
She should have paid more attention.
She hadn’t been there for her.
She had left the tiny little girl alone, who had sat there begging for someone to not leave her side for once.
The Ymbryne took a shaky breath and looked up again, and saw the birds again, circling their heads once again before disappearing into the wide sky.
We failed. I did…
It’s not your fault

----
A soft rustling sound broke the silence, barely audible. Then silence fell over the room for some minutes until the sound came again.
Slowly Isabel cracked an eye open to meet a dim light and the same sound again. She tilted her head to the side to see the source of the noises.
Alma was sitting beside her, with her back against the headboard and a book in her hands.
She looked adorable, really how she sat there with her brows furrowed in concentration and her hair falling down her shoulders.
Isabel shifted to the side to carefully lay her head in Alma's lap, which brought her the attention that she wanted.
"I'm sorry, I tried to be as quiet as possible," Alma whispered.
Isabel smiled lightly and shook her head. "It's okay. I couldn't sleep anyways."
She mustered the ravenette's features and even from the slightly weird angle that she was looking up from, she could only admire her.
Slowly she raised her hand to touch Alma's jawline which earned her a light smile from the younger woman.
Alma softly took the hand from her face and laced their fingers together.
“Izzy, stop staring at me to distract me!”
“Oh, I’m not staring at you to distract you,” Isabel chuckled. "I'm simply admiring your beauty."
"Shush you," Alma responded but even with her nose stuck in her book she couldn't hide the blush creeping up her cheeks.
The silver haired Ymbryne could only laugh while taking their entwined hands to place a kiss on Alma's hand.
She then took the book from her hands and placed it on their nightstand, careful to keep the right pages open.
Alma raised an eyebrow questioning at her but before she could say or ask anything Isabel leaned upward to cup her head into her hands and connect their lips in a soft kiss..
"I don't think I will ever get used to this," Isabel whispered.
A smile decorated Alma's features. It reminded Isabel of a beautiful sunrise on a warm spring morning, gentle and pure.
Alma combed through Isabel's silver hair and eventually placed a kiss on her cheek which made her eyes flutter shut again.
The peregrine's green eyes mustered Isabel's relaxed features while her thoughts started to drift away.
It was strange how much love she could feel after all the pain and misery she had witnessed. Her heart, that had been shattered into millions and billions of pieces so many times before.
And yet this small woman has always been by her side, collecting those small pieces and carefully putting them back into place, healing that fragile heart over and over again with such patience and gentleness.
"I love you so much," she whispered softly. A wide smile appeared on Isabel's face as she buried herself deeper in Alma's lap, grabbing her warm and soft hand again to lace their fingers back together.
" I love you too, Alma."

Basically, I've read the Desolations of Devils Acre and got really disappointed that we didn't really saw the Ymbyrnes doing something during the battle except for standing in the Ministry building and watching everyone.-. That's why I wrote an alternative scene plus connected it with some Miss Peregrine x Miss Cuckoo :)
