I finally finished my only piece for Soriku week like... a full week after I meant to post it. It only took like a full month from sketch to finish.

If this looks familiar, that's because it's a remake of this piece from last year which I have always been incredibly dissatisfied with.

Also, I used this tutorial to accomplish the stained glass effect here which was really useful!

For the au prompt thingy, could you write something about the meeting in prison au with Nico? But, like, just pros? Not an actual ship? It's totally okay if you don't want to!

37. Meeting in prison AU

Nico had been in jail for two months and twenty seven days, and he was starting to hate it. 

He'd gotten used to the idea pretty quickly - it was a lot like military school, in that there was a strict schedule, a rigid social hierarchy, and the ever-present threat of getting dragged into a blind corner and beaten until you prayed for death. Really, aside from the uniforms, it was indistinguishable from military school. Right down to the new kids who showed up every couple of months and had to be taught the Order of Things. 

He slid into his usual seat in the cafeteria, across from a sheepish-looking blonde who couldn't have been much older than Nico's nineteen. His tray hit the scratched table top with a sharp clack of plastic on plastic, and he regarded his unexpected lunch companion with a bored raise of his eyebrows as he picked up his spoon. 

The blond looked back at him for several long, increasingly awkward seconds before clearing his throat and ducking his head toward his own meal. "So. I'm, uh. I'm Jason." 

"Don't care." 

"Oh. Um." Jason took a bite of his mashed potatoes and shuffled his feet uncertainly on the concrete. "So, what are you in for?" 

Nico swallowed what was in his mouth and leaned forward over his tray. "You're clearly new," he said quietly, staring unblinking into Jason's startled blue eyes, "So I'm only going to say this once. Never, never ask someone that question again, if you don't want to wake up with a sharpened toothbrush in your kidney." 

Jason held his gaze with a silent, horrified stare. Nico remained stone still for just over a minute before sitting back and cracking a smile. "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood Detention Facility. I'm Nico." 

"Are you--" Jason leaned forward, squinting like he couldn't decide if he was angry. "Were you hazing me?" 

Nico snorted. "If that's what you think is hazing, wait until Valdez finds you in the showers. Seriously, don't ask people what they're in for. They'll volunteer that information often enough." Nico waited for Jason to nod before shrugging. "If you really wanna know, I robbed a bank when I was seventeen." My sister was sick and we couldn't pay for the hospital. He never added that part, not even in front of the jury. Figured it wasn't relevant, since she died anyway. 

Jason's eyebrows bounced up. "Seventeen? Damn." 

Nico spared him a sharp, unfriendly smile. "Got away with over two million dollars." 

"Two million?" 

"My cousin is sending her kids to a very nice private school." Might as well do something good with it, since he couldn't enjoy the fruits of his labor. 

"Jesus," Jason murmured. He gave Nico a sheepish smile. "Compared to guys like you, I'm small time." 

Nico waved a hand as if to say well, go on then.

"I uh, helped my friend Percy kidnap his mom." 

Nico swallowed leisurely, digesting the information. "I'm sure there's a fascinating story behind that," he invited, leaning his elbows on the table.

Yes it did. Well spotted. I don't think anything fishy happened about it, well, aside from that scene, but. You know.

Yes, I definitely plan on continuing this ! The whole point of having Percy letting that bit of information slip is so that Jason can find out (I thought really hard about a way to make that happen somewhat naturaly and without Percy just spilling Nico's secret on purpose. Thanks to Betsib for listening to my rambling on the subject !). There will probably be two more comics around this issue, because it's taking more time than I though initially to reach the conclusion I have in mind in a believable way (This particular subject is more ambitious than some of the other comics in the series, so it might take some time). On the other hand writing and drawing high-from-poison!Percy and his interaction with Jason was so much fun that I regret nothing !!
