Multi-Character x Nerd! Reader

PERCY JACKSON- Flowers

i like to think percy is pretty neutral about flowers; not his favorite, but doesn't hate them

but when you stepped into the picture ? ALLLLL of that changed !

probably has a flower language book sitting on his bedside table just because of you to be totally fair

because of you, he buys really specific colors (or asks the Demeter cabin to grow him some) of flowers for you because of their meanings

for example, he ABSOLUTELY got you yellow tulips when he asked you out :3c

as much as he's a blue guy, he knows what they stand for (hopeless love) and thought it'd be sweet

sometimes you name a flower he knows NOTHING about like what on earth is an azalea ??

listens to you carefully regardless since he finds it cute how often you ramble about why orchids are associated with royalty

received flowers for the first time from you and he's kept them ever since, claims it's because he keeps forgetting to get rid of them but he's just a sap like that

very supportive of your interests and WILL stay up for hours to hear you talk !

ANNABETH CHASE- Astronomy

at first she thought you were talking about astrology and wasn't all that interested, but then she saw the massive amount of books you had on the stars and understood

dare i say she takes you on stargazing dates where you just point out all the constellations and all the stars we'll never see

has watched about 8 space documentaries in one week, and still isn't tired of it

also ! when ever she's drafting up home designs, she ALWAYS puts a room with a glass ceiling or balcony so you can put your telescope there

she swears it's just for the visuals but she not very good at hiding it(i love you sappy annabeth chase <9)

bought you one of those little star projectors when you guys moved into New Rome !

you guys also made paper lanterns of all the planets + pluto and hung them up on the ceiling since you rarely get to go out much one you go to college

speaking of pluto.. you guys didn't speak for three days over an argument over the basis of it being a planet or not. annabeth refuses to say it is because scientifically it's not, but you say it is because "emotionally it's a planet to me !" (real conversation i've had btw)

takes you to the planetarium whenever you guys have the spare time mainly just to see to get all animated over all the facts you've probably already told her

she absolutely adores you no matter how many times she's heard about all the dwarf planets..

CONNOR STOLL- Comics

deep in my heart he's a flash or spiderman nerd, so it's perfect !

safe to say, if you like anyone else, you guys might dispute who the best superhero is every other day- lovingly of course !

dates probably consist of walking around comic books shops and talking about your favs or reading them in your cabin

swapping off comics whenever you finish one so you can talk about them

has absolutely stolen merch for you on numerous occasions because he can he let the love of his life go without that batman mug ?

scratch what i said about connor being nerd for nerd, you and leo are THE nerd for nerd couple !!

made you a wind up shark toy as a gift because he was bored, and it was basically a marriage proposal to you

has definitely fallen asleep to you talking about sharks before ! not out of boredom, just because he likes your voice

moving on ! y'all know those cardboard sharks people were making ? well, he made you a metal version of your favorite shark !

takes you to aquariums whenever he can, which is rare, but he thrives off of hearing you get excited.. like a kid in a candy store

he also has a crazy supply of gummy sharks in the bunker now for whenever you come over

he has also made you shark shaped string lights because why would he ever let you buy anything ?!

let's you cover his well, everything with shark stickers ! workbench ? sure ! festus ? might protests, but if festus like it, alright !

you told him he'd be a hammerhead shark, and he now has a keychain of one on his belt loop at all times

he rambles to you about mechanics, so in turn you talk about sharks; it's a win-win situation :3c

Remember that scene in the Percy Jackson series (Specifically the third book where we meet Nico and Bianca) where Zoe, Thalia, Percy, and Grover all go to Hoover Dam and started spatting out facts?

This is how imagine the same with the ghost boys. Let me set the scene.

The Ghost Boys at a Planetarium:

“Jupiter,” Robin said. “It’s huge.”

“Eleven diameters times the size of the earth.” Griffin turned his attention to the fake planet hanging above the ceiling. “Discovered in 1610.”

“A gas giant made up of hydrogen and helium with no solid surface.” Bruce said.

“Largest planet in the solar system.” Robin sighed.

Vance stared at them. “How do you know all that?”

“Finney,” Bruce said. “He loves astronomy.”

“He was nuts about the gas planets.” Robin added.

“Spouted facts all the time.” Griffin sniffled. “So annoying.”

“I wish he were here,” Robin said.

They nodded. Vance was still looking at them strangely.

Shoutout to our new planetarium guy, who not only interned at the planetarium/museum I went to as a kid but who might have decided to make his show-in-progress a show summarized as"Pluto isn't a planet: FIGHT ME"

meanwhile I found a script that I could modify this morning that let me put the Perseverance rover on Mars so we can "fly" the dome down like a spaceship and wave to it. Unfortunately Percy is really booking it towards the edge of our high-resolution terrain but hopefully he won't make it totally off until June 27 or 28 because that's the next chance I'll have to add tiles to Mars.

Hey bee what were the ROs like as children?

Hmmm, a very interesting question :) just as a general worldbuilding note, it’s very common for children to take on apprenticeships starting in their early teens – these are more like afterschool activities or may take the place of school, and they serve as a way for kids to play around with things they might like to do as they get older. This... may or may not have been based on something my sister's high school did.

Jefferson was a very precocious but friendly child. He and his younger sibling Tommie were raised by their mother. He became interested in fashion at a very young age, and his toys became the unwitting subjects of his early forays. He was very attached to Tommie almost immediately, and he has remained a dedicated older brother to this day. He got his first apprenticeship when he was 13, learning the ropes, er, threads at the Empress Designs Clothing Boutique. His old mentor actually still recommends him to clients.

Merrill was a very anxious and quiet child. He was raised by his paternal grandfathers after [REDACTED]. Merrill constantly clung to his Grandfather’s coattails, but his Granda would always eventually coax him away with ice cream and swing records. He was easily occupied with books and stereoscopes, but he had few friends. He was encouraged by his grandfathers to take a certification course at the Freerunners’ Guild in his teens to help him open up, and he took to it like a duck to water.

Clara was a rambunctious and adventurous child. She was raised by her three parents. She loved exploring, spending most of her early days finding every single nook and cranny she could in her neighborhood. She was extremely popular among the other children and always had a small parade of kids following her. She participated in a lot of group sports and other activities, and she has a good dozen or so certifications from her early teens.

Modesty was a proud, very prim child. She and her oldest brother Rance (Temperance), her older brother Val (Valiant), and her younger sisters Dee (Charity) and Mercy were raised by their parents. From her early childhood, Modesty was (ironically) taught to be proud of who she was. She took these lessons in stride, but she quickly learned that clerks, while important to the background, usually didn’t get their names put in history books. She’s strove to change that ever since.

Newt was a quiet but curious child. He was raised by his parents with a lot of assistance from his maternal aunt, Polly Mockett. He spent a lot of time at the Science Commons as a kid, but his favorite spot was always the Planetarium. He spent an entire summer reading every astronomy book he could get his hands on and staying outside all night to watch the stars. When he was 14, he finally got apprenticed there. At 16, he was offered a paying job, and he took it.

Max was an energetic and mechanically inclined child. They and their young sister Percy (Persephone) were raised by their parents. They were always tinkering with anything and everything, and they cannibalized their family’s appliances more than once. Unfortunately, they and their family were in a carriage accident when Max was ten – this was the accident where Max lost their leg. Max was the most unlucky of the group, and they are mostly glad that their sister, who was four, was relatively unharmed.

LUPERCALIA.

the exact origins of this pagan festival are uncertain, but it was thought that in ancient times LUPERCALIA took place to honor the she-wolf who raised romulus and remus, the founder of rome, and please the roman fertility god LUPERCUS

while traditionally held from february 13th to 15th, it is not to be confused with the later christian tradition celebrating saint valentine — it was not a celebration of pure and courtly love, but instead an intense, sexually-charged, and even perhaps bloody one filled with animal sacrifice and naked ritual

most notable to the festival was the random matchmaking ; during lupercalia, it is said that the men randomly chose a woman’s name from a jar to be coupled with them for the duration of the festival in the hopes of warding off evil spirits and infertility

NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 2021.

this would, in all likelihood, not be something in your mind in the modern day. a celebration that died out ages ago, lupercalia hardly finds a place in the memory of any contemporary new yorker. 

however — that doesn’t stop a beautifully sealed red envelope from showing up on your doorstep, delicate filigree addressed to you specifically and bearing a striking resemblance to an invite long since pushed into the back of your mind

and you think back to the gala, that hedonistic mischief filled night, and the mysterious benefactors behind it. it was well done, lavish and over the top, and idly you recall being asked if you’d be interested in any future events. it hadn’t seemed like a big deal at the time, because it was an exciting evening and what's the harm, who wouldn’t want another night of magic, it wasn’t like you had to foot any bill — so you’d agreed, put down your name without much thought, and moved on with your life. it wasn’t until now, months later, you feel a spark of recognition 

the origins of the sender are not any more clear than they were the first time around ; the invite claims you’re paired to go on some sort of quasi-date with another member, claims it’s so everyone who said they were interested in more events can get to know each other in a more intimate setting than the gala, but otherwise is void of much more explanation. a little off-putting maybe, but the reality of it stares up at you from a perfumed piece of parchment — you’ve already been matched. what are you supposed to do now, be the asshole that stands them up ?

the event will take place IC at any time between FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH, and SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH — though, your muses will have received the notice in the mail sometime before this, as well as the contact information for their partners

OOC, the event will start on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH. we’ll give you until the following TUESDAY to plot, plan, and start threads with your writing partners, but we’d like for your starters to be posted by then ! feel free to take as long as you need with the actual completion of the threads, though ! 

we’ve chosen an event of this kind to promote our anti-bubble rping stance. we want to create and uphold an environment where everyone plots with as many people as possible, that’s why we think randomly paired events like this could have a positive influence on the climate we have here 

on another note, especially if your character is in a relationship or aromantic / asexual, there is absolutely no obligation to make the thread romantic in nature. although valentine’s day and lupercalia definitely were, we’re not forcing you to have threads that are similar in nature when you’re not comfortable with such things for whatever reason. the pairings and locations are meant to work more as a framework or jumping point — feel free to make it as platonic, or even antagonistic, as you want, have your pair ditch the location they’re at completely midway through, etc. make the thread your own !

i feel like i have to expand this a bit.

we love one chaotic percy jackson, and this is why he gets thrown into teyvat after whole canon happens. he is happy, there are no more wars- cue, percy will do everything to get back home.

but the fates hate him and this celestia place chunked a chest piece at him and said "you are the hydro archon now."

and then, some random gods wanted to fight him and have his freaking chest piece, which he didn't understand. sure, it was beautiful, but who tf would want a chest piece??

he actually tries to give his chest piece to the first god who asks for it, but the sea wasn't very happy with it and swallowed said god.

percy is once again baffled, curses every god known to him (it's still a mystery to them, why they suddenly feared for their immortal lives) and sulks.

but then this random sea god called osial talks to him and he's like, i'm what now and tries to destroy the gnosis. he fails and curses celestia. while celestia and it's people fear for their lives, they don't take the gnosis back, telling percy how he's the son of the sea and only one worthy as the hydro archon.

percy then decides to fuck with them and 'joins' the war. (he just goes around, helps some minor gods (earning their loyality without realizing it) and bullshits some of his tales (and everyone starts fearing him))

"oh yeah, my pops is actually the sea, you know, THE sea. dunno which one exactly, maybe all of them, they never said."

"ah good old days when i fought titans. you know, kronos was a real bitch, he's rotting in tartarus right now."

"you want to know what the tartarus is? oh yeah, just the deepest of deepest pits of hell. worse than the abyss."

"this sword right here? this one took the head of all giants known. how i know this? i slayed them all."

and this is why every archon fears the hydro archon, the oldest and wisest of all gods of teyvat. some say he's older than celestia, some say he was the first god.

but everyone knows, perseus the hydro archon is as unpredictable as the sea. calm in one moment and in the next furious like the highest waves. and despite that, perseus protects his people and the ones loyal to him.

(percy just wants to go home, that doesn't mean he can't have some fun here in teyvat. so what if he created a copy paste atlantis in his nation. who is going to call him out?? and he actually likes his volks, they are good people. (guess which element is the most common))
