During the last thunderstorm we had here someone forgot to lock the window after they closed it and it flew open. All of the seedlings on the bottom window flew everywhere and some flew out the window. We now have a few mystery pepper seedlings and some other now unknown plant varieties. It’s going to be a lot of fun guessing what they are and seeing who was right later! The upside is that coconut coir is easy to clean up. We just swept it up and wiped the water with a dry cloth. It was the easiest plant disaster we have ever had to clean up.

My Serrano pepper, Thai hot pepper, Thai basil and cosmos seedlings are coming along. Dave’s baby peppers he planted from seed. Our Porch buddies for the next month or so. He hardens them off about a month. He brings them out on sunny days like this and puts them inside every night. Then they go in the greenhouse and outside garden. He likes to let the stems get strong and thick. Otherwise something eats the stems off at the ground every time. Any guesses? Cutworms? Slugs? Once the peppers are established they do fantastic without much help. But starting from seed definitely is more of a commitment than buying starts. It’s fun though and you get to pick out your own seeds. These are Tiburons and Krimson Lee peppers. Great for roasting. Super excited to see this pepper plant (Jalapeno) sprouting. I planted these before heading south this past weekend. When we got back home the seed trays we're bone dry. I thought I had loss them all. But BOOM! Add water and we have some sprouts.
