A big reason why that whole "Ford could've gone to any college why is he so mad" argument pisses me off is that idea is, intentionally or not, regurgitating bootstrap theory.

Stanford Pines is obviously an incredibly talented and gifted man so people who say that do not understand why he didn't get another chance at making it big, when the show makes it pretty clear that no matter how much he deserved it he would not get another chance to make it as a disabled poor (possibly queer?) jewish man in the 1960s.

And also, he worked hard to get that scholarship, a full ride scholarship mind you! Of course he's furious, and then his father immediately jumps to kicking Stanley out of the house and Ford is left with the split second decision of living on the streets with his brother or continuing to have somewhere to live, he wasn't in the proper headspace to make a well considered decision in that scenario.
