Pentagon - realizing they have feelings for you
SFW; gender-neutral reader
@huipinkhair requested: Do you think you could write a little ptg ot9 realising they have feelings for you? Like the moment they realise and what they do
a/n: tysm for requesting as always!! ❤️ sorry that it took so long! i hope you'll enjoy these~
Masterlist
Jinho
He sees you working hard at something you’re passionate about. You don’t have to be all that good at it, he’ll always be impressed if you put in an honest effort. He can’t help thinking that it’s admirable because it’s a character trait he values.
He’d probably keep his feelings close to his heart. But if he ever sees you falter or feel insecure, he’d at least tell you how impressed he is with your hard work and encourage you.
Hui
Hongseok
It’s small gestures, like how you leave small sticky notes or a coffee in his studio to cheer him up when he has to work a lot. When he’s tired or things are tough he’ll find himself wanting to see you. It’s not easy for Hui to let others take care of him, but somehow it’s so easy when it’s you. You just make him feel at home.
He doesn’t tell you immediately. For now it’s enough to seek comfort in your presence.
Shinwon
He does something for you, maybe makes you a sandwich or whatever, constantly thinking about what you’d like the best and what would make you the happiest. The moment he gives it to you and sees your grateful smile he's a goner.
Might turn a little clumsy around you, suddenly hyper aware of every little interaction.
Yeo One/Changgu
He makes you laugh with something silly he says. He didn’t even consider it that funny but when you burst into giggles he thinks he wants to be the source of your laughter many many times from here on out.
Tries hard to be funny around you and then smiles fondly whenever your eyes light up with laughter.
You support him in something he does. Maybe he has a musical role or a concert and you come to cheer him on. When he spots you in the audience he'll be overcome with happiness thinking to himself that he really loves you. Might just tell you after the show in a rush of endorphins.
Yanan
Maybe you scold him a little for being thoughtless and at first he gets annoyed and defensive. But then you spill that you’re upset because you were worried about him. He realizes that you must really care for him and somehow it makes his heart flutter? Care for him some more please?
Yuto
He listens to you talking about something you love. Maybe it’s just something small like your favorite yogurt but he realizes he could keep listening forever. And that’s what he does, he keeps listening and thinking over and over how much he adores you.
Kino/Hyunggu
Wooseok
He catches you humming or dancing by yourself while doing something, clearly in a good mood, and he’s just so endeared by it. He’d probably feel torn between gushing over how cute you are and watching in silence so you don’t stop.
Hyunggu would probably feel very excited about confessing to you and not wait too long. Love is something that should be shared after all.
It’s a simple moment. You’re watching a movie or show together, joking around a bit and you’re just so comfortable with him, casually leaning your head against his shoulder or playfully nudging him in the side and that’s when realization sinks in. He's so far gone for you.
Now that he’s aware of his own feelings, he can’t help but be incredibly flustered around you, heart racing at every simple touch.

last date before wedding with ptg
warning(s): food and wine mentions
↳ jinho: helping him with a cover of a song for youtube and it’d be a pretty romantic song maybe ed sheeran thinking out loud or john legend or maybe something else like eyes, nose, lips and you wouldn’t realize that he got you singing. i don't think he'd post it and just want to save it for the two of you to rewatch. it wouldn’t matter to him if you were an amazing singer or not, just being able to share that moment with you would be enough for him. so, it would probably become a tradition where you'd rewatch the cover for every wedding anniversary, and maybe you would cover more songs together each time as a little segment on his youtube channel and the members would text him and tease him about it every time lol
↳ hui: i get the feeling that he would bring you to a really nice yet underrated restaurant where smooth jazz is played and people are allowed to go onstage and perform a song. both of you would have the biggest smiles on your faces because the date would be reminiscent of your first one. you'd end the date off with really good wine and of course, hui would go onstage and sing (he'd claim it as practice for your big day) and would leave the audience stunned by his amazing vocals. on the drive home, his hand would never leave yours and he'd probably fidget with your engagement ring with a huge smile on his face.
↳ hongseok: your "date" would be so sweet and domestic because hongseok just gives me homey vibes. like, you'd both go to the grocery store to get ingredients for dinner and a dessert you both like. idk it would be the cutest thing and then you'd head back home and he'd start cooking while you worked on the dessert and you'd definitely catch him staring at you every few minutes with a goofy smile on his face and he'd wiggle his eyebrows playfully. you'd step away for a second to back-hug him and hongseok would smile to himself before he'd turn around to kiss you and he'd pull away to say something really cheesy but it would still put a smile on your face.
↳ yeo one: i think changgu would plan the cutest little picnic in the park for both of you. he'd pack some of your favorite foods and snacks and would even get you flowers or something. it would be the cutest thing and he'd take a flower and put it behind your ear and you'd do the same to him and then you'd go back and forth about who's the prettiest lol then the two of you would lie down and cloud gaze. idk i can see a really adorable dog running over to the two of you and it would really like changgu and it would be such a cute moment that would lead you to discuss the possibility of adopting a dog after the wedding. once the sun would start to settle below the horizon, you'd head home and would probably spend the rest of the day watching a show or movie.
↳ shinwon: both of you would agree on going to a spa and maybe a little shopping. i could definitely see him goofing around with you while in the sauna by making weird faces and telling you funny stories. then, he'd have you rest your head on his shoulder and he'd smile to himself. then, he'd tell you about how he was so nervous to propose to you. after a few minutes he'd realize that you weren't talking only to find you asleep. so, he'd make sure that you would be comfortable and would relax too. i think he'd love to spoil his s/o so he'd really enjoy going to the spa with you and it'd be a nice break from all of the wedding prep. on the way home, you'd both decide on ordering in bc neither of you would want to cook after being at the spa.
↳ yanan: he'd wake up extra early to get your favorite breakfast foods and coffee. when he'd make it back to your apartment he'd be met with you half asleep on the couch and would quickly put everything down to cuddle with you for a few minutes and then you'd eat breakfast together. afterward, the two of you would get ready to go and yanan wouldn't tell you but it would all make sense later. so, the two of you would go to multiple places throughout the city and you were thankful that they wouldn't be too far and at each stop, you and yanan would talk about what happened at each, like, one place was where he took you for your first date and another would be where you both said you loved each other for the first time. looking back on all of the memories would make both of your hearts feel so full.
↳ yuto: i think you'd go to an aquarium or botanical garden and it would be on a day when it wouldn't be so busy and the two of you could goof around and take funny pictures of each other imitating the animals. throughout the date, you'd both feel like little kids on a field trip again. both of you would stop every few minutes to stare at something you'd find interesting and the look on your faces at that moment would be so adorable and you'd have to capture the moments. after that, you would go get something to eat and then walk back to your apartment. on the walk, you'd both reminisce about how you met, your first date, and how he proposed to you.
↳ kino: i feel like hyunggu would go all out but it would still be a pretty laid-back date idk if that makes sense but he'd sign you up for a couples' dancing class where you'd learn how to tango and it would be so romantic and fun, even if you're not much of a dancer. after that, you'd go back home to shower and then he'd take you out to a really nice restaurant for dinner. the two of you would be so impressed with your meals but the highlight of your would be getting ice cream or your favorite dessert from your favorite place but then on your way back home it'd start raining and you'd have to wait it out inside a nearby cafe with steaming cups of tea. the whole situation would be pretty funny to both of you and it'd make for a nice moment to look back on.
↳ wooseok: being the youngest, i don't think he'd plan everything out and would just go with the flow. so, i think wooseok would also enjoy a night in with you as your date, especially if it would be a rainy day. he'd go and get your favorite snacks and drinks the day before and would surprise you with everything. the two of you would spend the day watching movies, playing video games, and just enjoying the calm before your wedding day. somehow, you'd end up talking about some of your embarrassing moments early on in your relationship and neither of you would be able to stop laughing and maybe you'd each go through your camera roll and it'd be a really cute moment for both of you.

Pentagon as Pentagon Songs / Covers
(... that I associate them with, purely self-opinion)
Jinho
hmmm "Someday - Song By JINHO, HUI"?
i feel like Jinho really slayed the vocals on that one you know
if it's not "Someday" then it would probably be "Round 2 - Bonus Track" because #jinhoWWEcommentator era
"Spring Snow"!!!!!! SPRING SNOW.
spring snow.
i loved how excited he was at wanting to perform "Spring Snow" for Road to Kingdom
and also the feels
Hui
would it be basic if i said "Shine"??? not if it's the truth ...
"Shine"
because come on, we all know why it's "Shine", what are you talking about if it's not "Shine"???
maybe "Happiness" because i felt like Hui in that M/V was pretty memorable
but also his line in "Organic song" (E'dawn, Yuto, Woo Seok With Hui), both in the original when Dawn performed it by himself in Pentagon Maker and also the released track
"Basquiat"?? VOCAL KING.
Hongseok
honestly the first thing that comes to mind is "Very Good - PENTAGON Version" (originally by Block B) from RTK
the chocolate abs left an impression
and also the "it's okay as long as he doesn't dance inappropriately afterwards" - an RTK staff member
"Dr. Bebe"
the chocolate back left an impression
"Sparkling Night" because his Oppa-ness really popped off there, ESPECIALLY in this Special Live Clip, wow that video really took me to heaven and back you know, i ascended
Shinwon
if i'm going for associated images seared into my brain, i would pick "DO or NOT" because #jokershinwon era and also "Feelin' Like" even though i know he doesn't like it because POOL SHINWON??? shinwon with GLOVES??? ma lord almighty,,,
if i'm going for music music, it would be "Daisy" because he does my favourite line in that entire song ("haengbokhaeya dwae") in that whisper/breathy tone, sorry i'm just simping at this point
but by that logic, i would also associate him with "Naughty Boy" because of the chicken lyric ... it really stuck
if i don't put "One Shot" here, am i really a Shinwon fan?
so "One Shot" because he wrote it
Yeo One
"Pretty Pretty", definitely
high school Yeo One.
nerd Yeo One era.
mushroom Yeo One era.
Yeo One with GLASSES.
also "Eat" (originally by Zion.T) because :( Pentagon Maker :( Yan An :( comfort chocolate :( ("saranghae ... yO")
Yeo One's verse in "Round 1 - Bonus Track", specifically the part where he goes "nappeun saram ... Yanan, Yanan, Yanan"
Yanan
"Feelin' Like"
muscles.
absolute massive badonkerhonker muscles.
but also "Daisy" because i really like the way he dances in it, feels floaty and nice
also "Eat", for the same reasons as Yeo One
also "Round 1", specifically the part where he goes "(ya geuraedo bang gachi sseuneunde) HWAJANGSHI!!!"
Yuto
probably an unpopular opinion but "Shine" is one of them
his rap and the transition back to the group formation in their "Shine" stages left a sensation in my brain that i don't know how to explain
that one unique #notlikeothergirls "Yuto-da" in "Fantasystic"
those verses of Japanese rap in "Cerberus"? chef's kiss.
that low-toned Wooseok!mock-scream in "Round 2"
Kino
first of all, "Dr. Bebe", for less superficial reasons than Hongseok
like i really, and i mean REALLY love his entire persona in "Dr. Bebe"
from the stages to M/V, the facial expression and stature and makeup were EVERYTHING
in chinese, there's this thing we call 病态 (bìng tài), which directly translates to "state of being sickly" and it sounds kind of wack if you put it like that, but basically the way he embodied that psychological inner warfare in his dance and expressions was absolutely Oscar-worthy
"Daisy" because of his tattoo, and his florist dreams, and his dance, and that mafia dance variety thing they did
just. "Daisy". yeah.
Wooseok
i don't know if it's because of his unique rapping tone, but i associate him with a lot of Pentagon's songs
i mean he wrote and composed my absolute favourite Pentagon song, "BAD"
he also did "Nostalgia", which i like
his verse in "Sparkling Night"??? vocal Wooseok???
"Naughty Boy"??????????
okay that one because i hated his hair in it, i'm sorry Wooseok
but also i felt like he was so intrinsically linked with that song for some reason
it just screamed Wooseok to me
uhm
"The Magic Flute ("Der Hölle Rache" - Queen of the Night aria)"
oops
i'm sorry that was just for the crack i swear

PTG as Owl City Songs Pt.2
Part 2 is here!!! I'll repeat myself
IMPORTANT: This is purely out of my imagination, I do NOT know how the ptg members are and their true personalities. This is how I perceive them through the content they provide us on social media. Also, the songs interpretations were mine. They might not be what the artist intended but how I understood them.
None of the pictures are mine! Got them on Pinterest
happy reading! and maybe listening too ~Foxy🦊
Pt.1 | masterlist
Yanan
The Tip Of The Iceberg
Cute, heartwarming and a bit fairy like, like Yanan. Like mentioned in other members, each song has its own unique traits just like the Pentagon members. Yanan and this song are no exception. Also, the title also fits the situation quite well, since the tip of the iceberg is always just a small part of the iceberg and theres a lot to discover under the water, and Yanan with his shy personality also has a lot hidden behind what he actually shows us. 2023 me - the songs also says how some actions are just the tip of the iceberg of things the protagonist would do to get back their loved one, and it also fits well with the relationship of universe and pentagon with Yanan. Even being away from him for so long, we’d do everything to see the boys together again.
Gold (2023)
Yanan is gold. The song tells about someone who is gold, someone who might not see their whole potential even though they are it. For the longest time as a Universe I saw Yanan being like this and slowly starting to become more confident as the years went by. Yanan! You’re gold, so shine forever! Also, CONGRATS ON 1st PLACE YANAN S2 YOU DESERVE IT
Yuto
Up All Night
I really don't know but this song fits Yuto. Maybe is the beat that changes and shows many styles that reminds me of Yuto, of how he looks like something but acts as something else. The song is mysterious and beautiful and thats really Yuto. Its cute but serious and the guitar part... definitely something that fits Yuto. Also, just like Yu, this song has a special place in my heart. “I just can’t get you off my mind, now I’m gonna be up all night”
I'm coming after you (2023)
I’m not sure why 2020 me chose this song bc she didn't write anything, maybe it was the instrumental? I think the bass in the song gives off Yuto vibes. It’s a lightweight song that seems almost theatrical to me. “Woo woo woo- I’m coming after you” The siren sounds seem fun and something that cute and the rest of Mayonnaise would add to their songs haha
Kino
Plant life
Kino has a flower aesthetic so why not? The song is really artistic and that it would suit kino's style if he danced to this song, or even sang it. Both are gentle, creative and majestic, showing a really unique kind of power, that feels almost magical. The lyrics also has Kino's vibes to it. It’s full of metaphors and pretty sounds (I think it’s my favorite owl city song)
shooting star
Kino is a shooting star! Like the song, he seems like the type of person to encourage and support others whey they feel down or tired. Kino is comfort to others, someone really precious and kind. “So shine no matter where you are tonight”
Wooseok
Dreams and Disasters
The image this song makes me think of is always a young couple, careless and fun, driving in a road in the middle of nowhere. This free-spirited style remind me of maknae Wooseokie. The upbeat melody and free-spirited lyrics fit Wooseok who is young and seem adventurous. “I wanna feel alive forever after”
Strawberry Avalanche
I don't know exactly why, but i guess pink Wooseok fits this. Another fun and cute song that fits shy Wooseok. I have this image that Woo is a pretty cute and gentle 2m tall boy and the scenario created by this song would fit him well. 2023 me- The song sounds soft and childish and I feel like behind the serious aura and appearance that wooseok has, there is a gentle and dreamy person there.
Pentagon
Good time
I don't really think I have to explain, but here I am anyways. Ptg is such a fun group. They are all very unique and display their individual charms throughout their journey. Every time we see them it's a good time, doesn't matter what they are doing. They turn the most normal things into something fun to look forward to.
Embers
I feel like this song talks about hope and, as cliche as it seems, pentagon simbolizes that to me. "When its all said and done, we'll shine like the sun so don't let the fire die." It simbolizes well the groups history and it works for their fans too, since seeing their journey Universe might feel inspired to just keep going too. It’s like Eternal Flame!
The Technicolor Phase
Support. Another word I think of when it comes to Pentagon. Thought the song you see how the lyrics say how they’re the support, how they are there to accompany wherever you are. “I am the green in the grass, That bends back from underneath your feet (...) I am the black in the book, The letters on the pages that you memorize” Pentagon and their songs are there for the fans whenever and wherever, it’s what keeps us entertained, hopeful, happy… you name it.

aaa okay so looked at the rules and could you do their idol crush admitting that they’re their type but with yuto, wooseok and kino? 🥺
HELLO, I FINALLY DID IT, SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT.It’s almost 4AM here and I wanted to get this out in case I become unproductive again when I wake up. I was halfway through Kino’s part when I realized the reader should be gender-neutral, oops. It’s too late for me to edit it again right now, so it’s gonna stay like that. I’ll take care next time, tho.
WARNINGS: none. WORD COUNT: 842, 971, 632.
—
Yuto
“Yuto-ya,” Hui called from his spot on his tiny couch in Yuto’s studio. It’s one of his rare days-off, but he isn’t in the mood to go into the city, and staying in the dorm is too boring since everyone else is busy with their other stuff. So he just decided to tag along with Yuto to his studio and listen to him make some songs. He might even sneak in a nap or two since he hasn’t been sleeping well later—but all thoughts of sleep fly out the window as soon as he sees on his phone a newly uploaded video starring you, known in Pentagon as Yuto’s crush. “Yuto-ya, come here!” he says, tossing the stuffed teddy bear at the boy sitting by the computers.
The toy hits Yuto square in the head and he jumps, turning the seat around in confusion. “What is it, hyung?”
Hui turns the phone so the screen is visible to Yuto. “Isn’t this Y/N?”
A quick glance and, yes, it’s you. Yuto likes to think he can find you in a crowd, no matter how many hairstyle changes you gave or how much you try to blend in with your clothes, but that just comes off kind of creepy. He has watched a lot of your interviews; and you have a lot of them, being a big figure in a famous idol group. He’s just so captivated by your range, your stage presence… It just gets him breathless whenever he sees you perform.
Your group is in the middle of a comeback right now, and Yuto has been religiously keeping up with any promotional material for your group that’s been coming up, but he’s just been super focused on his music today that the only thing that shocked him out of the haze was the teddy bear thrown at his head. Yuto stares at the tiny phone screen for a second longer before getting off the office chair and squishing beside Hui on the couch that isn’t really made for someone of his size.
The video continues playing as his leader turns up the volume. Your group is sat on swivel bar chairs in a white studio set. Gosh, you look radiant, as always. The pleasantries are over and the topic has gone to the announcement your company made about being able to date openly. Yuto isn’t lying that there was a tiny spark of hope that lit up inside him when he first heard of the news. But of course, that was just wishful thinking, since he doesn’t think you actually know him anyway. Sure, you may have heard of Pentagon the group, but there isn’t as big a chance of you taking an interest in him.
Being seated on the farthest chair from the hosts, your answer is saved for last. The other members of your group dodged the question by saying they weren’t really looking to date anyone or dropping names like J.Seph from KARD or Vernon from Seventeen being their ideal type of guy. You take a second or two more to think about your answer and say, “I’d like to get to know Yuto from Pentagon more.”
“Oooohhh,” the hosts exclaim. “He’s one of the rappers isn’t he?” one of them asks.
“Yes,” you say politely, smiling. Yuto isn’t sure if you’re actually red in the face or if that’s just the blush on your cheeks. “I really like the flow of his raps, and his voice is really nice.”
“Ahh, so you’re saying you like tall guys, yes?” the other host teases.
You laugh, slightly embarrassed. “I guess? I don’t really have a type, but Yuto was the first person to pop into my head who I am really interested in and would like to get to know.”
The hosts nod in approval, and your group members seated around you slap you playfully for admitting something like that.
Hui releases a high-pitched siren sound and playfully slaps Yuto playfully on the arm with his free hand. “Do you hear that, Yuto? Seems they like you, too. I wonder if we can go to one of their recordings for this comeback, hmm… Or maybe if our comebacks coincide you can talk to them then, huh?...” Hui continues to rattle off possibilities of Yuto getting into contact with you.
Meanwhile Yuto is still staring at the screen, frozen. The video continues to play, but he isn’t registering anything. Did you really just say, out loud, with a mic on, that you want to get to know him more? Like, he isn’t hallucinating that? Those words really came out of your mouth?
His chest is tight. It burns, but it’s also light. Yuto can’t put into words the feeling. Your sentiments are intangible, and there weren’t even any promises of actually going through with meeting up or exchanging numbers…
But it made him giddy. Indescribably happy.
He lets slip the tiniest of smiles as he continues watching the video and Hui mutters to himself about possible get-togethers with your groups.
Kino
It’s been a habit of Kino lately to listen to podcasts when he gets back to the dorm, as a way to unwind after a busy day. Not because he listens to them (although he does find time to listen and pay attention some other time), but the sound of amicable voices in the sometimes empty dorm is a comforting presence.
One of the podcasts he’s been listening to lately is called Ladies’ Room. His sister told him to listen to one of the episodes, and he found the discussions fun and educational, so he decided to just follow it and he’s updated with the latest one. So when a notification pops up on his phone about a new episode with a special guest, he immediately blasted it on his Bluetooth speaker.
“Hey, guys! This is Soo Ri and you’re listening to Ladies’ Room,” the host’s voice, like a droplet of water falling into a crystal clear puddle, slithers out from the speaker. “Today, we’re talking about love and relationships with a very special guest… idol-slash-actor-slash model, Y/N!”
“Hello, everybody!” you say, in a sweet cadence like a breeze rustling windchimes.
Kino almost drops the container of microwavable tteokkbokki he’s holding and looks at his phone, scandalized, as if it personally offended him. Obviously, it wouldn’t be a stretch for you to guest in podcasts, and even less of a stretch for you to guest-host this particular podcast, but Kino is still surprised. He can’t deny that it feels nice to know that he found you so unexpectedly.
Kino can’t remember when he started taking an interest on you. There was just one time when everytime he turned on the TV he would see your face—in a commercial, a variety show, a drama, that he finally decided to check you out. And from the first music video he clicked, he was hooked on you. Your way with words, your voice, your personality all just made him really want to know you more.
He doesn’t call it a crush, although to Yuto and Wooseok, the only two other people who know about his fanaticism, it comes off that way in droves. He shakes his head and finally unfreezes, putting the tteokbokki in the microwave to heat up. His ears automatically pick up the conversation.
“I know you must be really annoyed and fed up by questions like these, since I watch a lot of your interviews and the hosts ask about it a lot,” Soo Ri begins. “But what’s your stance on ideal types—like your ideal guy, or girl—and do you have one yourself?”
“Aahh, yeah, I do get questions like that sometimes, but they’re in different contexts, so I don’t really mind them.” Kino thinks that’s a polite answer and mentally claps. He hears you take a deep breath before saying, “I don’t think having an ideal type is realistic, though. I mean, that’s what ‘ideal’ means: it’s your idea of perfection, the best. I guess it could be like a blueprint for what you want in a partner, but I don’t think it’s possible for you to be able to tick off all those boxes.”
“Oh, yeah, I get what you’re saying. That’s a really good point.”
“As for my ideal type…” You hum, seeming deep in thought, but not enough to cause dead air. “It’s not really an ‘ideal’ type,” Kino can almost hear the air quotation marks when you said the word and it makes him smile, “but Kino from Pentagon has a lot of the qualities I like in someone.”
By now, Kino had taken his food from the microwave and taken a bite. He freezes with a mouth stuffed with tteokbokki. The spicy soup stinging his lips assures him that he is definitely awake and definitely not dreaming. Did she just—?
“Yeah,” he hears, desperately trying to tune back into the conversation. “He has a very bubbly and fun personality. He’s humble and loves his members and his fans. He’s also very good at what he does—I’ve listened to some of his stuff on SoundCloud, and they’re really good,” you say, and Kino thinks he should probably start chewing before he chokes on the rice cakes. “I mean, his dancing is excellent, his voice is so nice, and he’s also super cute.”
At this, you and Soo Ri both laugh conspiratorially, as if sharing a secret only between you two, as if this podcast isn’t going to be uploaded somewhere anyone who has access to the Internet can listen to, somewhere Kino can access at a moment’s notice.
Kino’s sure his face is as red as the tteokbokki soup right now. Literally no one can see because he’s the only one in the kitchen, but his face is on fire. He continues chewing and stuffing the rice cake strips into his mouth as he spirals into a crisis. His idol crush actually likes him back? He doesn’t think you actually like him, but you did say that there’s some aspects of him you like. That’s kind of similar, right? Right?
The whine comes out garbled from his full mouth. On one hand, he feels way lighter, bouncier, more energetic at knowing that the idol he likes knows about his existence and that she actually likes things about him and openly talked about it on a podcast, oh my goodness is this really real, like no one is messing with me right now?
So Kino sits there, lost in thought as he continues spearing food with his chopsticks, thinking. About how to reach you, maybe get your number, maybe propose a tiny collaboration? Maybe? About how he’s going to act in front of you in the off-chance that you do meet, as you and Soo Ri continue chatting in the background.
Wooseok
He can’t help stealing glances at you—you look really good in this comeback, and it takes everything for Wooseok to not be too conspicuous and focus on the interview that coincidentally has Pentagon and your group as guests. He’d like to think it’s a dream, but really, it feels more like a nightmare because he’s seated right next to you and his members literally won’t stop looking back and giving him mischievous smiles, or turning their chairs towards your group and making small talk, trying to drag him into the conversation and he feels like a fool because he seems incapable of replying with more than two-syllable words.
And it somehow gets worse during the segments. Not that the hosts are bad—they’re really good hosts. It’s just that there’s a segment where they read selected fan mail, so they would all have to answer it because they don’t really want to disappoint the fans by deflecting. The first few were harmless: what food they like eating during summer, if you were an animal what would you be? But then it went from zero to 100 real quick as the third question is read by your group’s leader, “Which idol is your ideal type?”
Everyone can’t help but make exclamations, oohs and ahs as they think of an appropriate answer. The hosts are gracious and give everyone ten seconds or so to come up with their answers before coaxing out some people’s. Eventually the line snaked to you and you timidly replied, “Wooseok-sunbae,” while avoiding his eyes.
If Wooseok could see himself in a mirror, he would see his eyes bug out and threatening to pop from their sockets, mouth desperately pursing to prevent the huge smile forming on his face. He doesn’t know how to react—what should he do, Cube didn’t train them for this. He needs help and Shinwon keeps slapping his thigh and arm like that isn’t the most obvious thing to do when they’re being filmed.
He can tell you’re embarrassed. You’re facing the hosts, your back to Wooseok, though he’s assuming your face is super red right now, and it’s not because of the blush. He kind of just wants this to be over so you can have a reprieve, but the hosts (being hosts), ask you to elaborate.
“Um, he’s a really great rapper, and he seems really caring,” you say softly. “I watched a program with him once taking care of his cats, and I thought it was really cute.” Wooseok recalls that show and his chest loosens slightly at the mention of it, touched that you remember that tiny segment he did. He really loves his cat, and he’s not gonna admit it, but he likes that your takeaway from the program is that he looks cute playing with tiny animals.
“Ooh, yes, we love guys who are nice to animals,” one of the hosts says, and turns directly to Wooseok. “Wooseok-sshi, since she mentioned you, we’ll leave you for last, okay? So we can properly build up the hype for the viewers back at home.” The boy nods; at least this gives him time to think of nice things to say to you amidst the flurry of thoughts running through his head at the moment.
He imagines talking to you after filming is over and exchanging numbers. He imagines hanging out with you if you have any free time. He imagines maybe doing a small collaboration with you, wishes it were possible. The images he conjures up make him smile, even if he is still kind of embarrassed—he was never one of the cucumber-cool members of the group—but he decides that since you threw yourself off the boat, he might as well throw himself off and join you.

Hand Print - Act III, Part II
Pairing: ReaderxWooseok.
Genre: Angst.
Warnings: Dark themes, Foul Language, Implied Smut,
You greatly believed in the strength of togetherness. When together, nothing could rip you apart. You knew this. You were so much stronger with him and so much happier too. He caused so much good, wrapped you so tightly in a cocoon that you forgot what it was like to not feel safe. A knife to that silk was all it took to rip you out of his home.
Word Count: 6.1k
Play: Act 1, Act 2, Act 3-Part I, Act 3-Part II
Masterlist
Act 3, Scene 5: Breath
Hwitaek handed you the mail from the foot of your door as he walked past you in the hallway to the dinner table. His mouth worked while you flipped through the junk mail and promotions to find the bills, eyes glued to the papers between your fingers. You followed slowly after him, nodding to show you were listening through a fair bit of it was going over your head.
“... but he said we could plan out another time to meet so I’m not worried. While we’re on a break, I want to spend time with you.”
You picked your head up from the mail to meet his eyes, sweet and expectant and shining like he’d just said the kindest thing ever. With a light smile, he took his seat across from you and you tossed the mail to the far side of the table, willing to dedicate yourself to the conversation.
“Me too,” you murmured lightly. He began uncovering the dishes you set out for dinner when you hummed, “but you do need to see your friends too.”
“I never say I wouldn’t.” His voice was steady but he didn’t look at you and it caused your lips to press together cautiously.
“I just don’t want to make it- make you feel trapped.” You hoped to stop the quiver in your voice, switching spots as you now grabbed dinner and he grabbed salad.
“That’s not what it feels like, y/n,” he huffed, head notching to the side as he spoke, “why is this always an argument with you?”
Halfway between picking up your utensils, you sighed and placed them down brashly. Giving him a stern look and straightening, off-put by the way he pronounced your name, you said, “we’re not arguing, Hwitaek.”
He simply clicked his tongue, muttering something under his breath as he began to eat. His head faced down and his movements were sharp in the citric lighting, eliciting a ‘what?’ from you.
“I said I’m not you, y/n,” he repeated, emphasizing your name again. The two of you hardly referred to each other with your legal names, finding them distant. Neither of you related to the sentiment behind them, Hwi even genuine wanting to change it, so you refrained from it. Rather than feeling personal when you said each other’s names, you were both so unattached to them that it felt more like an insult.
From that, to the poison in his voice, and to the way he used your past as a weapon against you, you found yourself hurt. He must have seen this on your face, his features melting as his mouth opened. “That’s not-”
“Eat by yourself,” you muttered, taking the napkin from your lap and throwing it beside your plate. The scraping of the chair against the floor as you got up from your seat resembled metal scratching metal.
“Ba- babe, please,” he seemed to plead, getting up after you and following you to the door. You were slipping on your winter boots when he placed his hand on your shoulder, trying to turn you around.
“Leave me alone,” you spat, shifting in order to get out from under his touch. This caused a flash of hurt in his eyes, hand falling to his side. You stared at one another for a brief moment, a scowl deep on your face and something so unsure on his lips. You watched as he took a step back, straightening his jaw and squaring his shoulders, body rigid.
Before he turned away from you, he muttered bitterly, “why do you always run away?”
You didn’t follow his retreating figure, sick of chasing after people and wanting someone to chase after you just once. You stood at the front for long enough to hear him start cleaning the table. When you stepped out, shutting the door behind you, you heard a muffled yell and distant shattering. It was only imaginable what a mess you two must have looked like: your eyes squeezed shut and back pressed against the door while he huffed over a counter and gripped the edge of it. The sinking of your stomach was the only thing you could feel, the chill and grey clouds completely insignificant. You loved him, you did, but sometimes you wondered if it was even worth it.
Act 3, Scene 6: Dive
The door was tugged open the moment you removed your keys from your pocket. Hwitaek looked at you cautiously, eyeing your long coat and your face as if to see if anything had happened; and then, he slung his arms around your waist and relaxed immensely. The breath he held was released immediately past your ear and his body formed around yours like it belonged there. Taking steps forward, you moved inside, foot closing the door behind you as you walked into your shared apartment.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered into your hair, kissing the top of your head before you angled your chin up to look at him.
“It was my fault,” you murmured, hands trailing up to rest between his shoulder blades. Staring into those thickly protected eyes of his when you first met, you never would’ve guessed what you could see now. There was sadness and regret and such frailty that made you press yourself closer into him at the shake of his head.
“No, I- I shouldn’t have said what I said. It’s unfair to you and I hate that it came to my mind because you told me that in confidence. I shouldn’t have used it against you.” He sounded so serious and it was scary how he could read your mind like that. He knew exactly why you were upset and though his apologies weren’t extravagant, they were what you needed to hear.
Leaning up, you pressed your lips to his and hummed, “it’s okay.”
When you rested your head on his chest, you heard the soft beating of his heart and tried to match yours to it. He wrapped himself tighter around you, creating a home for himself. The two of you sat in a heavy silence for a few moments, minds racing. The mixed cologne and food still lingering on his shirt, the closing of your eyes, the steadiness of his heart beat against your ear: they all overwhelmed you for reasons he didn’t understand.
That much was obvious from his reaction when you started crying. He took it well enough though, apologizing and asking if you wanted your favourite tea and looking frantic as he ran around for something to comfort you. You were somehow on the couch with him, head on his chest and clutching him so tightly as you reclined. He asked you what was wrong but you couldn’t bring yourself to respond. The guilt of wanting someone else weighed down on you and the more you thought of it, the more you wanted to be alone. Yet, the more you wanted to be alone, the more you wanted to be with Hwitaek.
He placed little kisses into your forehead and relieved the stress in your hands by holding them. He took care of you like no one ever had and you needed that. You needed him despite all things. That only made you hurt more.
“I love you,” he said so quietly, you would have missed it if you weren’t paying attention. It wasn’t the first he’d ever said it but these words were few and far between, adding so much weight to the times where he would confess to you. Every time he said it, the more you were torn in half and the more you wanted to let him go for is own good.
Looking up at him through watered eyes, you caught the gravity in his eyes and were compelled to say it back. The lightness of the smile and the thumb that ran under your eyes caused the first solidifying of your heart, as if he was gluing back together what you’d destroyed when you were with Wooseok, though he knew nothing of it.
“How about we watch a shitty movie and eat in bed?” Hwi suggested, giving you a hopeful look. He was really doing his best, never knowing how to deal with anyone crying but always trying his hardest.
This caused you to nod before you shifted upwards to kiss him again and again. There wasn’t an urgency in this but that didn’t mean it lacked any sort of passion and somehow, you felt a blossoming in your stomach. You hated to admit it but you thrived around him and everywhere his hands touched you meant new flowers were planted in your skin. It was beautiful and yet sad because most gardens died in the winter and you were nearing the end of fall.
“I’ll make some popcorn,”he chimed, getting up and moving towards the kitchen. You stayed on the couch, unmoving and missing his warmth. You used your elbow to prop you up and watched him walk into the next room.
The teal of his sweater and the white t-shirt peeking out from under contrasted so nicely with his skin. His jeans were cuffed, suiting him in ways that made every pair of jeans you saw like that remind you of him. His hair was growing out, though the undercut was still there, and the top part that shifted as he moved his head was a fading tan. When he turned to tell you to get dressed for bed, the curve of his lips was outlined by the light and it made you smile.
“Yeah, I’m going,” you hummed, waving him away and sniffling lightly. His teeth were put on display as his lips parted over them and he looked so encouraged before disappearing fully around the corner.
Slowly getting up, you studied the house. From where you were, you could hear Hwitaek in the kitchen, opening a floor to ceiling cabinet he really wanted to get from whatever furniture store you’d gone in to buy some of your essentials. The whole place came more or less furnished and it explained the odd extravagance of it. The couch was a deep teal and plump, but always so comfortable. Hwi laid thin covers on top of it and called the style bohemian when you first moved in, looking very proud of himself. Every part of this house had Hwi and you mixed into it. Where he took the couch, you took the coffee table in front of it. Where he painted the walls in the living room, you painted the walls in bathroom and bedroom. Everything was even and it looked well put together. You couldn’t deny you were proud.
The living room bled into the dining room, which was open and had a basic deep brown wooden table paired with an odd looking vase and some fake flowers as the centrepiece. The vase depicted a man holding a picture which had the man holding the same picture and so on and so forth. Hwi had picked it up from a weird shop off the street. You thought it was comically wonderful and structured very well and so, there it stood. You could look around and find a story behind everything and, as you walked through the dining room and made a right to get to the kitchen, you felt the slightest bit filled.
“By the way,” he called over the shifting of plates and raising his voice much louder than it needed to be, “I talked to Hyojong. I’m going to see him on Thursday.”
“That sounds great,” you said, unenthusiastically . Peeking around the corner to the kitchen, you listened to him speak and admired how at home he looked.
“We’re going to Jinho’s and the rest should be there too. They’re all bringing someone so I thought you might want to come.” He still spoke as if you were in the bedroom, far from him. You hummed lightly, wrapping your arms around his thinning waist and resting your head between his shoulder blades.
“Okay,” was all you said. Hwitaek, who paused for the slightest moment when you hugged him, still went about his business, moving with you in step to grab a bowl for the popcorn. The bag was resting in the microwave, flat and smeared with butter. When he closed the door to the microwave and pressed a few buttons to get it started, you saw his smile grow in the reflection of the door.
“What happened to getting dressed for bed? The movie?”
You shrugged, nestling closer to him. You sniffled when you breathed still but being with him like this was something you found yourself enjoying. It was light and free and when he turned to face you and brushed your hair out of your face, you saw yourself melting into him. His fingers fixed strands behind your ear as you murmured that it wasn’t important what you were going to do. He raised his eyebrows, not the least surprised but teasing you and you enjoyed it. As you leaned further into him and his lips pressed to yours, you wanted to build a home here. You’d spent two years with him and now, finally now, you were ready to bring that dream of having a home be a person into reality.
You got lost in this kiss that, when the microwave went off, you both jumped. His hands moved to open the door, to shut up the stupid machine so you could just stay the way you were but it didn’t work. He ended up swiping the stack of mail that he’d moved to the counter off the marble and you snickered, watching him get frustrated.
Picking up the mail while he muttered about how nothing goes his way, you smiled at his antics. He could be a child sometimes but it was funny nonetheless. In the stack of bills and promotions, you caught a deep blue envelope and picked it out among the rest. You inspected it, turning it over but it seemed so ordinary. The brand wasn’t fancy, the paper was thin as well as the letter it enclosed. There was nothing special about it and yet, you didn’t set it aside.
“Do you know what this is?” you asked offhandedly, though it had your name on the receiving stamp. Hwi was behind you now but he fit his head perfectly on your shoulder and shrugged. The bowl was hot and near your side, the feeling almost uncomfortable.
“No idea.”
You hummed, picking at the sticker. Half of you didn’t want to open it, the feeling in your stomach building ridiculously and you felt the nausea threatening to come about. The other half, compelled by Hwi’s suggestion, peeled the sticker from the bottom and flicked the flap up. Upon seeing the words written in a perfectly typed cursive, you felt you were right in being nauseous. You held it back and closed the envelope with shaking hands.
“Babe?” Hwitaek’s voice sounded far away. “Who’s Wooseok?”
“Please don’t say his name,” you whispered, leaning to put the envelope back on the counter. It nearly slipped off but rested precariously on the edge. You nearly felt the discontent in Hwi’s voice as he spoke, setting down the popcorn bowl.
“Is that him?”
The question was quiet but heavy and you didn’t know what him he was referring to. Any him was a him you didn’t want to remember, especially this man who creeped into your dreams and suffocated you with the way he wanted to love you- with the way he did love you.
You were unmoving and it gave Hwi the only answer he needed. He sighed lightly and there was a pause, like he was deciding what to do. You didn’t look at much of the letter, none of it but the first line. You knew the handwriting from the start but the name he used, the one that swallowed your heart confirmed it. Then his name in a cliche, ‘it’s me’ statement. As if you wouldn’t already know, like you hadn’t spent hours pouring over the lyrics he once wrote in countless journals, on napkins at dinner, on your arm when there was nothing but the pen in his pocket. As if you weren’t captivated by his use of anything but your name in the introduction. As if you needed him to say who he was so everything could tear down again- everything you tried so hard to built and so hard to forget.
While you were upset, you were confused. After all this time, all these two years of radio silence? You hadn’t called him. You hadn’t been ready and you doubted you ever would be. You could change but you were scared if you could change for him or if you would fall back into that sickening pattern that you hated yourself for- that you cried over every day remembering it. He said not to call him, not to do anything unless you were ready. Did this mean he was ready?
Your mind spun faster than straw into gold and it was hard to keep up. The only stabilizing thing was Hwitaek, who picked up the popcorn bowl from before and walked towards the room. He had paused in the dining room to look at you, eyes kind but sheltered, hiding. Your fingers were still shaking but you let them come into his when he outstretched his arm. His smile was soft and lit up his face until his cheeks, resting there like a setting sun.
“Want to still watch that movie?”
You nodded, wordless and nauseous and feeling like hell. What you needed was to be in bed and held, by anyone who was willing to give it to you. Deep down, you were glad it was Hwi, knowing he would take your mind off Wooseok for long enough for you to fall asleep. He rubbed his thumb down yours in warm circles and talked as if nothing happened and you let yourself fall into it, wanting not to remember anything but the future you planned- the one that was comfortable and simple and effortless. The one without him.
Act 3, Scene 7: Don’t Leave Me
As expected, most of the guests at the small dinner party Hwi spoke about flopped. It was funny making bets on who would show up though. The bets went horribly, everyone’s patterns really erratic and unpredictable except one. Hyojong was always a given, seeing as he was always free and hardly made time for anything but his friends. The bet with him was if he’d really bring a date, which he did once and you owed Hwi quite a lot of favours for it but that was worth it for the both of you at the end of the day. Besides, you won tonight, saying it would be Hyojong and Shinwon who showed up.
Hwi offered to pay up immediately, being in a good mood that night. You could tell from the way he slipped his hands between your thighs and slid the material of your dress up higher under the table. You would have generally been upset about this, wondering what the waiter would think or his friends if they found out but the twinkle in his eyes was convincing enough. You smiled and played off most of his other advances, making his arm retreat to the back of your chair, where his fingers ran shapes into your shoulder. The action wasn’t enough to be dramatically romantic but you found yourself never wanting him to stop.
Hyojong’s laugh was sweet that night, hitting your ear like a chord strummed right. Your smile mimicked his, loud and wide, and the whole table followed his lead. Your bodies shook with laughter, absolutely caught in his odd sense of humour and captured by his presence. Those tired eyes of his were wide and alert and he seemed to have come alive, more than usual tonight. You wondered what had happened but didn’t ask, thinking it too personal for the casual dinner. You were glad to see he was enjoying himself but more so happy to see Hwitaek beaming, genuinely happy outside of home and work.
You had been living together for a year and friends for two before and he had always been a homebody. He was a sucker for domesticity and it showed when he said he wanted to stay home and cook with you, watch movies, or listen to music in bed while napping. Sometimes, you missed the adventure of the past, where you would stay out until four in the morning with friends or where you wouldn’t spend more than a day home consecutively. It was exciting but sometimes, you looked forward to having someone to come home to and having a heart to lay beside yours. Though, the both of you were graduating from your second degree soon, Hwitaek being a year ahead of you, and he was looking for jobs that meant he’d float and go abroad and be on business trips. This scared you, knowing things would change between you but you didn’t want it to. You wanted to stay here, at this table, in this moment, where adulthood didn’t have a chance of catching up with you at all.
“Okay, god, I’m going to the bathroom. I’ll be right back,” Hyojong groaned, cheeks red. You watched him throw down his napkin on the table and get up, Shinwon following closely after.
He flashed his phone at you and Hwi, saying lightly, “I need to make a quick call. I’ll just be a minute.”
“Alright,” Hwi chimed while you leaned forward, propping your head up with your chin resting on your palm. You raised your eyebrows quickly, moving them up and down with a devilish grin. Shinwon gave you a slightly uncomfortable look while you did so, knowing what you were insinuating but you said it nonetheless.
“Yeah, you get that date with your boss, Won. We’re rooting for you.”
He flushed the lightest bit, contrasting with the black turtleneck he was wearing. He fixed his jean jacket on top of his thick sweater and clicked his tongue, trying to play off that he was embarrassed as he walked away. Shinwon might have murmured something but you had turned to Hwi and suddenly, he was the only thing that mattered.
His eyes were on you, looking at you so lovingly and you could practically tell what he was thinking. The two of you were so akin, knowing the other without skipping a beat and it was so comforting for you to know he thought you fit in well with his friends. It was important to him. His friends had gotten him through everything, from school to the loss of his parents. It was because of this that you tried so hard around them, wanting to be liked.
You pressed your hand against his cheek, leaning in closer. The chiming of your bracelets as they hit each other died out and he took his chance to speak, covering your wrist with his fingers.
“I’m happy,” he hummed, so soft and only for you to hear, “thank you for suggesting we do this.”
Leaning in, you placed a sweet kiss on his lips. The hand that was on the back of your chair came to your head, holding you in place for a moment and leaning into you again. It made you smile, not knowing what you did to deserve this treatment. There was something heavy in the way he kissed, like it meant so much more than he wanted it to look like it did and you could feel it in the way he took the air from your lungs when you pulled away.
“What?” You laughed a bit, looking at him almost as if he had constellations in his irises, “why are you being so sweet?”
“Are you saying I’m not always this sweet?” His eyebrows arch up, so playful and kind, contrasted with the edge of his chin and the strength of his cheekbones.
You simply shook your head but leaned in again and felt a familiar leap in your chest. The heart you didn’t think would beat again for anyone else seemed to thump once, heavy and skipping its regular routine. This excited you, giving you hope that there was something more than the bitterness you felt and the comfortability- the stagnancy of an unexceptional relationship. There was more out there from Hwi, something more you couldn’t tap into yet but you wanted to. You desperately wanted to see what more he had hidden, underneath those layers of skin and protected hearts that he gave to you but never in whole. He had been holding back, especially since you heard of Wooseok again and you received the letter, which you hadn’t read yet.
Since the letter, you had erupted. Whatever you were trying to hold back from Hwi was revealed and you told him everything, who Wooseok was, what you’d done, the mistakes you made even when you and Hwi had met. He braced it for you, wiping away whatever tears came to your eyes and asking for you to continue but you could tell it bothered him. He felt you were torn between him and Woo, explicitly telling you this. Both of you knew it was true and it hurt his pride. The words he said that night though, they stuck. They forced the wheels of change to turn again, asking you to be better and you wanted to rise to the challenge.
He looked at you just a few days after getting the letter, the both of you in bed. You were undressed, lying on top of him and drawing clouds into his bare chest and up his collarbone. He had moved the blanket down so far that it covered just the bottom of you but the way his fingers ran up and down the indent of your spine filled you with enough warmth. It was quiet but he hummed lowly, drawing your attention from his skin to his face. He didn’t stop his movements but he looked hesitant, like he couldn’t bear to ask what he was going to and yet, asking it anyways.
“Have you been in love with him this whole time?”
Tearing your eyes from his stare, you paused and thought about what to say. Nothing substantial came to mind, keeping your mind quiet. It wasn’t a yes and, then again, it wasn’t a no. This was enough for him to nod, fingers hypnotizing and homely as they continued their slow journey up and down the curves of your bone.
“That’s okay,” he whispered so silently, trying to hide his disappointment at the answer but it was almost as if he expected it. The way he looked at you was understanding and this attitude, the one that accepted all of you this way hurt because you didn’t deserve someone this sweet to you.
“I’m not mad now but if you want this- us- to continue, you have to stop. I didn’t want to waste the time we’ve had together. It hasn’t been a waste; but I don’t want to share you. Don’t make me.”
You nodded, splaying your hands across his chest and creating a place for you to rest your chin without poking into him. He adjusted to sit up slightly and look at you properly. His fingers came up and brushed the hair behind your ear, the gravity in every movement and every word said not missed.
“Please don’t make me leave,” he breathed, broken and resilient and your heart shattered. He was hurt, the look in his eyes so innocent and discouraged. It sparked water to spill from yours and you nodded again.
As you leaned up to kiss him, you knew he meant he would leave if you didn’t stop. The threat wasn’t forgotten and you let him know that you were serious. You were going to try for him now, as best as you could.
So, being at dinner with him and his friends was you trying to come full circle and trying to grow- trying to be better. Telling his friends stories about him, letting them in on the world you’d closed them out of for a long time and seeing Hwi beam brighter than the sun, these all made it worth it, Watching him was enough to make you sure that you could try, just as long as nothing more happened. You wanted to focus on him and no one else and you were going to do your best. Though, you supposed there are always other plans in motion.
Act 3, Scene 8: Walking In Time
The house was near silent as you padded down your hallways. Hwi had woken up, asked you where you were going as you gently tossed the blankets off you. he wasn’t totally coherent but you knew he could hear you. All you had to do was lean in and give him a quiet kiss, murmuring something about being thirsty. He wouldn’t complain, only turn around and go back to sleep. That was what he did, though he kissed you back just a bit stronger than usual. You wondered if that meant he would stay awake until you climbed back into bed but, when you walked back in, fingers shaking with a cup and letter in hand, you found him sprawled once more. He was dead asleep, small snores coming up through his throat.
Usually, it would annoy you but tonight was different. You needed to be alone, finding the eerily silent house, filled with only breathing, a comfort. Desperately, you needed to be alone. You needed to unwrap this letter. You needed to know what exactly had ripped the strings that so tightly strangled you and kept you together. You needed to know why and where and how- how did he find you and why now?
Fingers still shaking, long thin cardigan trailing behind you as you walked, you mulled it over. Why was it that you couldn’t just be comfortable? Why did he have to come in and ruin everything? He said you ruined things, that you were the problem, but it seemed that whenever you were happy- whenever you were trying to just move on and live a mediocre life- he came right back. you teetered between anger and an unknown excitement that bubbled in your chest. Even after all this time, after all of your mistakes, you were still excited to see him. It was ridiculous.
Slowly pulling out a chair at the dining room table, you took your time unravelling the letter. The sticker taping the front shut came off easier than the first time, losing its stickiness to the air in your kitchen. The flap opened and slowly, meticulously, you picked up the letter. A small part of you wished to bring it closer to your nose, to see if the scent of him was still on the paper. You didn’t particularly need to though, knowing everything about this was him. From top to bottom, it was Wooseok and it hurt.
Sunflower,
It’s me, Wooseok. Is it weird for me to still call you sunflower? I’m sorry if it is. I’m just trying to write as authentically as I can.
I know I said that you should call me when you’re ready. I said it the last two times we broke up and yet, it seems to be me reaching out every time. Funny, isn’t it? Or is that irony? I don’t know, you were always better at the language stuff.
What I actually want to say is that I was told to write a few things to the people who have wronged me. I started seeing a therapist and they said that maybe I’m so troubled by a lot of things because I haven’t let them go so, here I am. Trying to let it go. I don’t know where to start though. Should I start at the beginning or only when it started to hurt? No, I think I’ll start from when I was happy. Yeah. There.
Okay, I just want to say that I don’t think you ever made me truly unhappy until after we broke up. Before then, like I said, I was always, always happy. Sure, we fought and we got jealous and we stormed out on each other but it felt okay because we apologized. We came back to each other. We loved each other. I think that’s why I took it so hard when we broke up. I didn’t get it because I didn’t get what I did wrong.
I get now that it’s not about people doing anything wrong. You just didn’t feel it was going anywhere, that you had manipulated me and, honestly, maybe you did. I don’t know what the signs are like and I haven’t been able to pinpoint them. But I think what made me upset was that there was no closure. You never gave me an explanation until the second time around and I was too childish to just listen to you and talk it out. Maybe I was just afraid of getting hurt though, maybe you were pushing me. I feel like I’ll maybe never know.
The thing is that I still don’t feel like I have closure. I never have and I never will, I fear. Although, talking about it has made me feel better. even writing this feels good, you know? I’m moving forward and I want you to know that. I’m not trying to get you back with this. In fact, I feel like it’s more of a goodbye, maybe. Not forever but just until I get better because really, I want to see you. I want to know how you’re doing. I want you to know I’m not mad at you.
When everything’s okay, when we fix ourselves, I hope we find our ways back to each other as friends. Until then, I hope you’re well. My phone number hasn’t changed so, there’s always that. So, yeah. See you soon, maybe.
- Wooseok.
P.s: I heard about Hwitaek and you moving in together. Vernon doesn’t seem to approve but Jisoo’s kinda proud of you. Says you’re growing up. How’s that going? I hope well. And I hope you’re still close with Jisoo and Heeji. I think they might miss you. Don’t make Hwi your whole world. Go out, be happy, work. Make your life like you told me to make mine.
Tear drops dried into the paper, your throat closing in on itself. You couldn’t decide a single thing about how you felt, though your body seemed to know quite well. It was melodramatic and anticlimactic, not at all the letter you expected to get. In fact, it was one you didn’t want to get, the sobs in your throat building into something louder. You couldn’t cry though, you couldn’t show that to yourself. You didn’t want to.
Wooseok being happy and trying to move forward- it broke your spirit. It was all you wanted and now, hearing about it only made you sad. You couldn’t deny that you wanted to be there to see it. You wanted to see him smile and be happy, go out with his friends, create a career and life for himself. He seemed so stuck but this gave you hope that he was doing something. His words sounded so hopeful and wonderful and your heart prayed for him to feel better.
Though, you supposed you were crying most for the feelings in your heart at the last bit. He wished for your happiness. He was concerned about you. He wanted you to grow and perhaps that hurt the most because it meant he still cared. You still cared. Sitting on that chair at the dinner table, the tears couldn’t stop themselves. You felt overwhelmed, happy and miserable all at once. No words could quite explain how you felt, how being called Sunflower meant something more than your life. You shook, silently holding yourself, crumpling the paper, destroying yet one more thing.
How was it that him fixing himself led to your undoing?
A/N: okay this one came quick but also bc I had a lot of it already written. Part 4 will be up at the end of may which is when I’ll have time for basically alll of my writing. I’m hoping to finish this really quick though because I love it and the ending is already planned and ah I just can’t wait for you guys to see it! Thanks for sticking with it! Much love, and I’ll see you with the nexttt

Masterlist
You'd known Wooseok since you were in first grade, when his family moved in next to yours. He was a year younger than you and so incredibly adorable. The two of you immediately grew close. Neither of you had any actual siblings but Wooseok really felt like a younger brother to you.
He followed you around so much, you probably spent more time together than apart.
Your parents were just as close and it wasn’t uncommon for both families to have dinner together. His mom clearly adored you, treating you as if you were her child as well. Their flat felt like a second home to you.
You went to the same schools too (you teased him about it, saying things like "aw, can't believe you followed me to middle school and now you're following me to high school too" without meaning anything by it, the way the tips of his ears grew red going unnoticed).
He hit a growth spurt sometime around high school, towering over most of his classmates and absolutely towering over you. Maybe things started to feel a little different to you, but you decided to ignore it. You had to ignore it in order to keep the friendship you had intact.
Even though you'd both hit puberty and all that stuff, he still didn't cut it down on the physical contact, throwing himself onto you like a giant dog that doesn't realize how big he is. The way it made your heart race felt all kinds of wrong. He was supposed to be like a brother to you!
After high school you moved away to study. You purposely chose a university a little further off, in order to put some distance between the two of you and get over this. (If Wooseok found himself tearing up a bit after sending you off he didn't let on.)
Wooseok and you had never texted much and suddenly starting with it now would have been awkward. So, aside from the one or the other "how have you been" or "look what i saw the other day" you were barely in touch, spare for the few weekends you visited home.
You found yourself missing him, but it also made you feel relieved when it gave the desired effect: You started thinking about him less, and even when you saw him the weird feelings from before had subsided.
When the time came for Wooseok to apply to universities as well, he applied to yours as well (just because it has a very good reputation for his subject of course!)
He didn't tell you, feeling kinda awkward about suddenly texting you with info like that. But when the acceptance letter came in he felt like it was too late to tell you. What was he supposed to say? By the way, I applied to your university and will go there next semester?
He didn't have to tell you though, because his mom already did it in his place.
After your move, she would send you food from time to time and the well mannered kid you were, you’d always call to give her your thanks.
In one of these calls—you wanted to thank her for the kimchi she’d sent—she told you about Wooseok being accepted to your university and looking for a place to live now.
The information caught you off guard. Of course, you hadn’t talked as much these days, but you still wondered why he didn’t tell you himself. You would have been so proud of him for getting accepted, especially since your university had a good reputation in the field he wanted to study. So why?
Still a little under shock, you barely paid attention when his mom continued on, about how she’d feel so much more at ease if she knew that Wooseok wouldn’t be by himself in the big town and how your mom had also told her that your lease was running out soon.
When a random, affirmative “mhm” of yours was met with excitement and relief at the other end of the line you knew you’d gotten yourself into something stupid.
“Really, y/n, I’m so glad that the two of you will live together. Of course, we’ll help you look for a flat.”
You didn’t quite share her excitement, but you also couldn’t back out now, not when she always treated you so well. And it wasn’t as though you were uncomfortable with Wooseok. You’d long gotten over whatever those odd feelings were!
Wooseok also wasn’t the fondest of his mom's administrations. She had practically painted him to be some lost helpless country bumpkin who wouldn’t survive a day in the city by himself. And that was the last thing he wanted you to think about him.
He'd always hated being a year younger than you, because he felt as if it caused him to miss out on so much. Not only had he never had the chance to be in the same classes with you; he also felt as if you didn’t take him seriously. Neither you nor your friends ever considered him cool. No, he was always just the cute "brother" that you took care of.
So yes, his mom doing this bothered him. But at the same time it was only thanks to her that he got to live with you now. And how could he ever hate that?
Seeing you everyday didn't really help the crush he had on you. The domesticity of it all was painful to bear; the way you looked all cute and sleepy when you got your morning coffee or how you rested your head against his shoulder as if it was nothing, while the two of you were huddled together on your tiny couch.
You got closer again too, of course you were, you were literally living together.
And even though he loved it to be close to you again, it also made him realize how truly impossible it seemed for you to see him as anything more than a friend or little brother.
It also felt as if you were drawing some kind of line between the two of you. You knew his friends and they sometimes hung out at the flat. At this point they were your friends too and when Hyunggu or whoever was hosting a party it was a given that Wooseok could bring you along.
But you never really let him spend time with your friends nor did you invite them over. It made him feel left out.
(You, of course, had a reason for that—but how would he know that?)
One evening when you got up from the couch, leaving the movie night behind in favor of getting ready to go out with your friends, he felt himself getting upset, a little jealous. Why couldn't you just stay home with him? Or your friends could come over instead? He didn't say that though. Instead he just watched you scurry around with a pout. When you retrieved something from the couch table, something inside of him snapped and he latched onto your wrist.
You chuckled the way one would laugh at the cute actions of a child and tried to shake him off, telling him you really had to get ready.
But instead of letting you go he just moved to wrap his arms around your waist.
"Can't you just stay home today?" he asked, still pouting but not looking up at you.
You felt your breathing catch and your heart skip a beat but quickly shook the feeling off. Chuckling again, you peeled his arms off and told him to stop being a baby.
He mumbled a barely audible "I'm not being a baby,” but you didn’t pay it any mind. Instead, you finished getting ready, grabbed your keys and made your way to the front door.
“Don’t wait up on me,” you shouted from the hallway, before letting the door fall shut behind you.
The sentiment of his touch still lingered, leaving a tingly feeling in its wake. You knew this was bad, really bad.It was as if all the progress, the moving on, that you’d worked so hard on had gone down the drain in a split second, just because of a mere touch.
You leaned against the closed door for a moment, taking a few steadying breaths before reaching for your phone to text your best friend Claire. Sadly, your hand came up empty. You’d left your phone on the table.
But you didn’t want to go back inside, you couldn’t. So you decided to just leave, hurrying to make it on time to your meeting place with Claire.
She noticed right away that something was up with you, immediately asking if something had finally happened between you and Wooseok.
See, that’s the problem with oversharing: Even when you think they will never meet the person in question since he literally lives in a different town, you could never be entirely sure. And then you’re stuck with a best friend who knows that you used to crush on your now-roommate and teases you about it relentlessly.
When she wiggled her eyebrows at you knowingly, it was reconfirmed once more that not letting her meet him for more than a split second was the right choice. You loved Claire with all your heart, but you couldn’t trust her to keep her mouth shut.
She eventually let the topic go though, after you insisted that nothing had happened, and you made your way to the party she’d been invited to. It was her lawyer boyfriend’s crowd. Most people there seemed to be a little older than you, 4 to 5 years maybe, and so put together that you felt out of place in your worn out sneakers.
You sat in some corner nursing your drink when a guy came up to sit next to you asking if you were doing okay. He was handsome with his slicked back hair and the rolled up sleeves of his white dress shirt.
He wanted to know what's wrong and because he was so sweet and because you were already getting tipsy, you actually told him about what was preying on your mind. He listened to you calmly, letting you get it all out. Then he smiled softly. “Maybe you just needed a bit of a distraction?”
You didn't sleep with him that night. You could have, it was clear from the way he looked at you. But you hadn’t wanted to and he hadn’t pressured you either.
Instead you just talked for a really long time at the party and he walked you back to the station afterwards. You talked so much and walked so slowly that you missed your bus, so he offered to call you a cab. You declined, but he insisted.
Before the cab arrived he asked if he could have your number.
An apologetic smile crossed your face. “I actually forgot my phone.”
“Ah I see, guess I'm being rejected.” He chuckled defeatedly.
“No, I promise it’s not an excuse. I really did forget my phone. My friend scolded me about it too.”
He considered you for a moment, his gaze wandering from one eye to the other before he nodded slowly.
“Mhm, then, how about this-” He started cramming out a pen and a piece of paper from his bag, scribbling something down before he handed it to you. “I’ll just give you my number, and if you feel like it you text me. And if you don’t, you don’t. Okay?”
You nodded. “Okay.”
The cab arrived and he paid before opening the door for you and saying goodbye with a kiss to your cheek.
It was probably around 3 or 4 am when you unlocked the door to your apartment. You tried to be quiet, tiptoeing through the living room to get to your room, when you noticed soft breathing noises. Wooseok was curled up on the sofa, that was way too small for his height, sleeping soundly.
You walked over and pulled a blanket over him, shaking your head with a fond smile. "I told you not to wait up on me,” you whispered barely audibly, more to yourself than to him.
He blinked his eyes open and looked at you through the dark, his hand latching onto yours.
"You forgot your phone.” His voice was thick with sleep. “I was worried.”
You swallowed around the lump that was building in your throat and pulled your hand away.
"If you're awake now you should go to sleep in your bed.”
He made some grumpy noise instead of a proper reply and you just disappeared to your room.
When you were laying in bed, you still saw his sleepy eyes in front of you, looking at you through the darkness with drowsy affection.
It drove you crazy.
You tiptoed out of bed and got the little piece of paper out of your jeans pocket, before you slipped back under your blankets.
And then you texted the guy.
You met up with him a few times after that and he absolutely pampered you. He was always so sweet, inviting you to dinner or a coffee and seeing you home afterwards.
Wooseok caught on eventually, watching you with eagle eyes when you put on perfume or wore shoes that he knew you saved for important occasions. You didn't have to say you were going on dates for him to know and when he eventually asked about it you admitted to meeting someone.
It stung when he heard you say it but he couldn't stop his curiosity. So he asked more about him, his name and what he was doing and how old he was.
He immediately regretted asking. Knowing that he was older and a lawyer just made his insecurities worse. Curiosity killed the cat has never rang so true.
Why did it have to be someone older than you? Why did it have to be someone with a proper job and money while he was just some broke student? That guy would treat you to fancy dinners, while Wooseok was the pathetic roommate for whom you had to cover the rent when his money was getting tight. It haunted him but he couldn't say anything about it. What right did he have?
You started spending less time at the flat and more time with the lawyer guy.
It was good to have a distraction, you told yourself (even if it didn't really work at all. even if you were still thinking about Wooseok all the time, the way he looked at you, the way his hand felt wrapped around your wrist).
Aside from your uncooperative heart, the dates were going well. It had felt a little one sided at first, you only sharing your worries and him not sharing any of his. But as you spent more time together he also started to confide in you about stress from work. He told you about his family too, his older sister, his mom and all these things.
"Maybe you can meet them sometime" he said one afternoon and it sounded casual but when you met his eyes you felt a heavy meaning behind it.
You just smiled and nodded, saying you'd love to but feeling a little unsettled about it. Maybe it wasn't fair to meet him when you were clearly having feelings for someone else.
He noticed your sudden change in mood though and reassuringly took your hand in his.
"No pressure, dear. I'm not trying to force you into anything, okay?"
He was always like that, showing you how interested he was in you but still giving you time and space.
Eventually, he asked you if you wanted to make it official and date him. You hesitated, not sure if it was okay to say yes, but he smiled softly and told you that he didn’t mind if you didn't feel that way about him yet or that you were still hung up on your childhood friend. You could just try, right?
So you found yourself saying yes.
Dating him was nice. He still treated you well, taking you out for dinner or buying presents for you (even though you kept insisting he didn't need to). You started spending most of your weekends at his place and it almost felt as if you were living someone else's life.
His flat was big and clean and fancy. There weren't any dirty dishes on the counter (that Wooseok didn't do again), because your boyfriend had a dishwasher that took care of it. His couch too looked expensive and was actually big enough for two people to sit on comfortably. (Nothing like the small ratty couch in your flat, that barely fit Wooseok on it by himself, leaving the two of you to always huddle together in order not to fall off.)
Everything in your boyfriend's flat was better from an objective point of view. But it didn't feel much like a home.
You were at his place again that weekend, sitting together on his couch and watching TV.
After glancing at the time and realizing it was already afternoon you untangled yourself from him in order to head back.
"You don't have to go home though. You can just stay."
You shook your head. “I can’t, I have to prepare for my classes.”
“Can’t you do it from here?”
“I don’t have my things here.”
“Why not?”
"Huh?" You looked at him in confusion.
"I mean. Why don't you have some of your things here?"
"What do you mean?"
"You're here every weekend anyway. Why not leave some stuff here?"
You just stared at him, not knowing how to reply. It never occurred to you to do that. Somehow you'd always felt like a guest in his home. Clearly it hadn't been his intention to make you feel that way but you did and it didn’t seem appropriate for a guest to leave things around.
"Or you know," he continued "you could also just move in. I have enough space."
You hadn’t known what to say before, but now you were completely at a loss of words. You just stared at him in disbelief. Eventually, he smiled and leaned in to you, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear before he got up from the couch.
"Just think about it, hm?"
You nodded and then he helped you gather your clothes and drove you back.
When you reached home Wooseok was sitting in the living room. He barely acknowledged you walking in. Things had been like this between the two of you for a while now; a little awkward, a little cold. You hated it but maybe that’s what was necessary in order to get over him?
You sighed and went to the kitchen, being welcomed by a stash of dishes in the sink. It struck a nerve with you, but you didn’t want to pick a fight, so you just sighed again. After getting yourself a glass of water you disappeared into your room to prepare for classes. But somehow you couldn’t stop thinking about what your boyfriend had said. Maybe it wasn't a bad idea?
When you got out of your room later that evening with your laptop under your arm Wooseok was sitting there again (or still?). You squeezed yourself onto the couch next to him, but instead of scooting over he just got up to leave without even saying a single word.
It made you angry. Why was he treating you like this? You glared after him but when he didn't turn around you snapped.
"Are you being serious right now?!"
He turned around then, looking annoyed. "What?"
"Are you seriously going to ignore me like this? You haven't seen me all weekend and this is what I come home to?!"
You were angry but mostly you were hurt by his behavior.
Wooseok just shrugged. "If it bothers you then don't come home I guess. You're at his flat all the time anyway, why do you even bother?"
That stung. That really really stung.
You didn't want to have tears welling up in your eyes but you couldn't help it.
"Maybe I should! He asked me to move in with him, and I might just say yes!"
You shut your laptop angrily to get back to your room. When you walked past him Wooseok was looking at you with big eyes.
"...are you really?"
You avoided his gaze. "Maybe. What's it to you?"
With that you disappeared to your room, slamming the door behind you.
After the fight you texted your boyfriend if you could stay with him for a bit. So, the next day after classes he used his break to pick you up before driving back to work. Left alone in the flat you felt a little lost. You'd never been there by yourself and somehow you were worried about touching or dirtying or using anything. What if something broke? You supposed though, that this feeling would go away if you stayed a little longer. You sat down on his couch to do your university work and then ordered food because you didn't dare to use his kitchen.
You stayed like this with him for a few days, him often working late but always making sure to call you in his lunch break. It was sweet, really.
One evening, when he came home a little earlier than usual, he caught you sitting on the couch, the pizza carton from your dinner still on the couch table. He looked at it kinda funnily and you immediately apologized for not throwing it out yet.
But he just shook his head with a smile. "Y/n, have you been ordering pizza for dinner every day this week?"
"...maybe."
He laughed softly before he leaned in to kiss you on the cheek. “You know I have a kitchen right? You're allowed to use it."
You chuckled awkwardly. “I'll keep that in mind."
And yet, the next day, you found yourself eating pizza again.
As the end of the week approached, you realized you hadn't packed for staying a long time. Of course, you could hypothetically wash at his place but it was another thing you didn't feel comfortable doing and somehow the prospect of him handling your dirty laundry felt even worse. So, it was time to stop at home to pick up some fresh clothes …or to go home for good.
The two of you were cuddling on Thursday night, when you told him and he was mumbling into your neck that he could just drive you on the weekend. But you insisted on going by yourself. You felt it was better not to let him run into Wooseok right now but you didn't tell him that.
When you unlocked the door at home on Friday it was so quiet you assumed you were alone. You went to the kitchen to fetch your favorite tea. But as soon as you walked in, you stilled for a moment. It was squeaky clean, no dishes anywhere, nor any crumbs.
Still caught up in your surprise you didn't notice that Wooseok had walked up to the kitchen.
"You're back," he said, standing in the door frame with big surprised eyes.
Seeing him again after a few days made your chest feel warm. None of the anger of the last time you'd seen him was left, you were just glad to have him around. You looked at him for a moment before you shrugged.
"This is still my home too, you know."
"I thought… maybe you wouldn't come back anymore."
You raised the package of tea in some sort of wave. "I'm just picking up a few things."
Wooseoks face fell. "Oh."
“Yeah.”
The air between you turned tense again, so you tried to escape the situation by slipping past him into the living room to gather some things. Wooseok silently trailed behind you like a lost puppy, as you went from room to room to put this and that into your bag. When you went over to your bed to pack your pillow, Wooseok was watching you from the door frame.
"Can't you just... stay?"
You already wanted to decline but when you looked up and your eyes met his, your heart sank. He looked so sad. You just couldn't say no to him
You put your pillow back down before you slowly nodded. "Maybe just for a bit."
The two of you made some makeshift dinner in the kitchen together and even though it was a bit of an interesting combination it tasted like heaven after days of pizza only. The rest of the evening was spent huddled together on the couch. It felt familiar and comfortable and like home. Only now you realized how much you'd missed this over the past week.
You completely forgot that you were supposed to go back to your boyfriend, only getting reminded when your phone vibrated on the table later that night, a message popping up on the screen.
where are you?
Wooseok must have seen it too from the way he quickly averted his eyes when you glanced over at him. He was trying really hard to look anywhere but your phone screen, when you picked it up to reply.
sorry I’ll stay home after all
Then you set your phone aside again, resting your head against Wooseok’s shoulder and focusing back on the movie.
After a while he cleared his throat.
"Don't you have to like... go back to your boyfriend or something?" It sounded timid.
"Not today."
You thought you saw a little smile tug at the corners of his lips but you didn't comment on it.
It was the first weekend in a while that you were spending at the flat with Wooseok. It really felt as if you'd never fought in the first place and you could almost trick yourself into thinking the awkwardness hadn't happened either.
But then from time to time there were small moments where you felt as if he was tiptoeing around you, like the way his hand sometimes halted before touching you and then pulled away, or how he looked at you as if you could just disappear any second.
On Monday you had to go back to your boyfriend’s place since you'd left your laptop (and other things) at his and you could only last so long without them.
Somehow you felt caught between the chairs. You knew your boyfriend would want you to stick around. But you’d only just made up with Wooseok and you didn’t want to leave him alone again. You couldn’t.
You went to his flat when you knew he was at work, messaging him that you'd pick up your things. He didn't seem happy about it but he didn't try to stop you either. What he did try though, was telling you to wait until the evening so he could drive you home. But you felt as if in the end, instead of driving you home he'd probably convince you to stay after all so you declined.
You met up with him later that week for dinner. He picked you up with a flower bouquet in his hand. Even now after you’d been dating for a while, he was still showering you in small gifts and tokens. It honestly felt a little too much, as if he was trying to buy your affection, but you tried to be grateful, since convincing him to stop hadn’t worked.
While the two of you were sitting at your table, waiting for the food to come, he asked you if you'd thought about moving in together.
“I’m not trying to pressure you,” he assured. “I just want to know what you’re thinking.”
You slowly moved your head from side to side. “Honestly, I don’t know. I’ve only just patched things up with Wooseok, I don’t want to risk this…”
Your boyfriend nodded but there was worry in his eyes.
"I know you don't want to hurt him. But you can't always put him first, dear. Maybe a little distance would be for the best. You need to stop waiting for something that won’t happen."
His words made you swallow. Was that really what it was? Were you waiting? And did it really have no chance of happening?
You switched topics after that, talking about this and that, from work and university to your upcoming birthday. He asked if you’d be okay to spend your birthday evening with him since it conveniently fell onto a Saturday. Somehow you considered for a moment, racking your brains for potential reasons to decline, before ultimately saying yes when you came up empty.
After dinner, the two of you strolled through town for a bit. Most shops were already closed but you stopped here and there to gaze in through the lit up store windows. At a jeweler, your gaze got stuck on a necklace in the display. Your boyfriend noticed and smiled.
"You like that one, huh?"
"Yeah. actually—no that will probably sound childish."
Your boyfriend bumped you in the side "No, tell me."
"Actually that necklace is from an older collection. It came out years ago and I fell in love at first sight when I saw it back then."
"Oh, like what happened when I first saw you?" He grinned and you rolled your eyes before turning back to the necklace.
"I actually made a promise to myself back then. That I would buy it with my first proper paycheck."
"That's cute,” he said and it somehow made you feel childish after all. It made sense though, the price of the necklace was probably just peanuts to him with his well paying lawyer job. You shook your head and dragged him to move on. "Let’s go."
When your birthday rolled around you were woken up by a timid knock on your door. You groaned in reply and Wooseok shuffled in, a glass with chocolate milk in his hand. It was a small tradition from when you were kids to have chocolate milk with colorful sugar sprinkles on birthdays. The last time you’d done this was probably when you were around 7th grade, so him reviving this tradition now that you were living together warmed your heart.
He set it onto your night stand with a small smile. “Happy birthday, y/n.”
You sat up in bed to take a sip from it. "Thank you.”
“You have a little—” Wooseok chuckled, gesturing at his lips. “Yeah, you got it,” he continued as your tongue darted out to get rid of the milk stuck on your upper lip.
Then you realized the slightly burned smell wafting into your room.
"Uhm, Wooseok, do you have something on the stove?"
His eyes grew wide and he rushed out of the room with a panicked “Oh, no, the pancakes!”
When you came to the kitchen a little later, it was an utter mess. Wooseok was scurrying around trying to plate some slightly burned pancakes with cinnamon and maple syrup. As soon as he noticed your presence, he started pouting.
"You weren't supposed to come in," he complained, his eyes wandering to the little tray he'd started to prepare with a glass of orange juice and the plate of pancakes on it.
Seeing the effort he’d put into this (even if it didn’t go perfectly well) gave you a fuzzy feeling in your stomach.
"Sorry," You said with an apologetic smile, feeling sorry for destroying the surprise. "But this way we can eat together?"
He was still pouting but reluctantly agreed and the two of you sat at the table to have breakfast. He told you about what he'd come up with for your birthday, giving you a bunch of options to choose from. It included stuff like watching your favorite movie, going to the zoo, taking a walk, playing laser tag, etc.
It was cute how he'd thought about what to do for your birthday but still gave you room to choose yourself. Honestly speaking, you wanted to do everything on his list.
Sadly, since you'd promised to have an early dinner with your boyfriend, that fell flat. He'd managed to reserve a table at a really fancy restaurant that had a sheer endless waiting list. So, since you’d taken your time with breakfast and would have to get ready before dinner there wasn't really that much time to do many things from the list.
You didn't dare to look up at Wooseok when you told him.
"Oh," he replied. "But, uhm, do you still want to do something before that though?"
“I’d love that.” A relieved smile washed over his face at your words.
The two of you decided to get some coffee from your favorite café and then just strolled through the park close to your college. Two geese were waddling around on the grass, loudly quacking at each other.
"Don't they kinda sound like old ladies having an argument?" You giggled.
Wooseok joined in on your laughter. "Marianne," he quacked. "Did you really bring your divorced son to church on sunday?!"
You bursted into laughter, almost spitting out the sip of coffee in your mouth.
"Listen, Karen," You chimed in, your voice funny too. "The lord forgives all."
The two of you fooled around like that for a while, Wooseok making you laugh to the point where tears formed in your eyes. You couldn't remember the last time you'd had this much fun. While your boyfriend was a sweetheart, he wasn't one to joke around that much.
After a while your eyes fell onto a clock in the park making your eyes grow wide. It was way later than anticipated and you really had to get going now in order to get ready. You didn't want to admit it but you would have much rather spend your time with Wooseok than to go to that fancy dinner. But the table was already booked and you'd promised to go. So, the two of you went home, you got ready and then waited for your boyfriend to pick you up.
The restaurant was really nice but it once again gave you that feeling of living someone else's life instead of your own. That feeling had been exciting at first, but it was slowly starting to shift to something slightly uncomfortable. Maybe you liked your own life better, burned pancakes and all.
It was just an evening though! And your boyfriend had gone all out to make this possible!
The tiny meals with their fancy names didn't mean anything to you and maybe pizza would have done the job but you smiled and nodded when asked if it was tasty. You shared a dessert, some fancy flan with liquor in it. It was a little too bitter for you but you didn't want to say. You already felt like a child between all these chic people, you didn't want to out yourself as someone with a childlike palate on top of it.
"I hope you enjoyed dinner?" your boyfriend asked with the sweetest smile
You smiled and nodded, opening your mouth when he held out a spoon full of dessert for you.
"You really didn't have to do all this though," You said after you swallowed.
"But i wanted to"
"Thank you."
"Now are you ready for your present?"
You looked at him in confusion. You thought this dinner itself was already the present. What more was going to come?
He took out a small box from his jacket and slid it over to you.
"What is this?" Your hands felt oddly sweaty. It obviously wasn't a ring – the box was long and flat – but it still looked expensive.
"Open it.”
The moment your eyes fell onto the shiny necklace inside, you started feeling sick to your stomach.
It was pretty, of course it was. Because this was your necklace. The necklace you'd wanted to buy yourself.
You didn't know what to say and just stared at it.
"Are you happy?"
You felt like crying.
No, you weren't happy at all but you also couldn't really say that after receiving an expensive gift, right?
"Uh- it's unexpected," You pressed out.
"I knew how much you wanted this."
"...Yeah"
"You were giving me a hint when you told me that story weren’t you?"
Your head shot up and you stared at him in confusion. "What?"
“I thought you were trying to tell me to get it for you, since you can't afford it.”
“No,” You whispered, your voice shaking. "I meant it when I said I wanted to get it for myself.”
"Ah, I see. But now you can just save up for something else instead." He looked caught off guard at first but quickly smiled again. “Shall we slowly get going?"
You nodded, still feeling sick. You closed the box again and stuffed it into your bag while your boyfriend paid. When you left he reached out for one of your hands but you put them into your pockets, pretending not to notice.
"You're coming home with me, right?"
You knew it had been implied in the plans to go back to his place and spend the night together. But right now you just wanted to go home.
Why did you always have to go to his place anyway? Of course, he didn't have a roommate and it was a bigger place and all that. But from time to time it would have been nice if he'd at least offered to come visit you instead of always assuming that you'd to come over…
When you didn't reply he softly nudged you in the side.
"Where are you with your head, love?"
"Ah," you looked at him before averting your eyes again. "Sorry."
"Don't worry about it." His hand pushed back a strand of your hair that had fallen into your forehead. "By the way, where is the necklace? Should I put it on for you?"
"I'm already wearing my scarf now." You chuckled in an attempt to make it come out more lighthearted, but it just sounded awkward. "Maybe later."
"We can just take the scarf off and put it back on?" He suggested, his hand already moving to remove it.
You stopped him by holding onto the soft fabric.
"Maybe later," You repeated with a little more force this time
"Okay."
"Yeah."
"So, should we go home?" He asked and it somehow irked you how naturally he referred to his place as home, as if it was yours too.
"I think I want to go back to my place tonight, I'm kinda tired."
He frowned. "What's up with you?"
"I just—It was just a lot today."
"Is it about the necklace?"
You didn't reply.
"Does it bother you that I got it for you?"
"I just," you pressed out, your voice feeling choked up "It was something i wanted to get for myself..."
He sighed. "Don't be so upset, dear. It was a simple miscommunication. You can just buy a different necklace or spend your money on other things.”
He didn't seem to get your point at all.
"I don't want to spend my money on other things."
"Are you really angry at me for buying you a necklace you wanted?!"
You shrugged, fighting against the tears welling up in your eyes.
"I didn't just want the necklace. I wanted to buy it."
"Fine," he said, sounding annoyed. You couldn't remember hearing his voice like this before. "If it bothers you so much we can just bring it back and you can choose a different one. And then someday if you have the money you can buy this one for yourself.”
"It won't be the same anymore. If I buy it now it won't feel the same.”
"So what do you want me to do then?"
"I don't know. I just wanna go home."
“Okay. I'll drive you.”
You shook your head. “No, not today.”
"C'mon just let me drive you. I'll feel unsettled to let you go by yourself at this time of day."
"I'm okay. Really. So please..."
"Fine." He turned to go to his car that one of the restaurant’s workers had already driven up again.
"Wait," you followed a few steps behind.
He turned back at you with a smug smile, ready to open his car door for you. But instead he was met with the little jewelry box that you held out to him.
He sighed. "You really don't want to keep it?"
"I can't."
You watched him as he drove off and the second he was gone you crouched down on the pavement, sobbing.
You were hurt and frustrated. Of course, your boyfriend hadn't meant any harm, but it felt as if he didn't understand you at all. Him gifting you this necklace almost felt as if he was looking down on you, telling you that you wouldn't ever be able to afford it yourself anyway. Maybe you were being overly petty about this, but you wished he had at least said sorry instead of only justifying himself or trying to convince you it wasn't something to be hurt about. He'd tainted this for you and even if you'd buy this necklace for yourself someday it would always have a bitter after taste.
You cried and sobbed your heart out, ignoring the odd looks you got from people passing by. You didn't feel like getting up and walking to the station, nor did you want to sit in the tram looking like this. But you couldn't call a cab, because your boyfriend was right, you were just some dumb little girl without money.
This was probably the worst birthday you’d ever had, you thought. But then you remembered the way it started, and the memory of it managed to put a small smile on your lips.
You took out your phone and opened Wooseok’s chat.
can you pick me up? you texted, your finger hovering over the button for a while before pressing send.
It took like two seconds before Wooseok replied and asked for your location. You sent it to him and then stuffed your phone back into your pocket, hugging your legs to your chest and waiting for him to arrive. Your cheeks felt weird from all the crying and your nose was running and you were cold and you just hoped he’d be there soon.
It probably took him around 15 minutes and you had no idea how he’d managed to do that. He came to a halt with his bicycle when he spotted you, getting off the saddle and pushing it towards you. There was worry in his eyes and his breath came out in puffs and you'd never been this glad to see someone before.
Wooseok didn't ask any questions. Instead, he just parked his bike and crouched down in front of you. He got out a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped away your tears and helped you blow your nose. You should have probably felt terrible about it, having someone younger than you take care of you like that, but you just let it happen.
He helped you up and told you to hold on tight when you got onto the back of his bicycle. You wrapped your arms around his waist and leaned your head against his back. The warmth of his body felt soothing and comforting and you just let him take you home in silence.
As soon as you arrived, he absolutely babied you, making tea and wrapping you into a cozy blanket as you huddled together on the couch.
He still didn't ask what happened and you were grateful for it, not really ready to talk about it and also unsure if maybe you'd overreacted after all and the whole fight was ridiculous.
Wooseok put on your comfort movie on the TV and you rested your head against his shoulder, feeling your eyes fall shut not even a third into the movie.
When you woke up the next day, you found yourself tugged to bed without any memory of getting there. You were still drowsy and sleepy and not aware of your surroundings or anything, really.
Checking your phone for the time, you noticed that your boyfriend had left you a message asking if you got home safely. Seeing it made the memories of the evening return. You recalled the overly fancy dinner and most of all you recalled his oh so thoughtful gift.
Tears immediately welled up in your eyes again and you hated it. It made you feel pathetic and as though you were making a big deal out of nothing. Maybe you really were being overdramatic, making it bigger than it was.
But it felt as if he destroyed something really important to you. It hurt.
What hurt even more was that he clearly didn't understand your problem at all. To him it was just some necklace, he couldn't see the value behind it. He couldn't see that it was more than a necklace to you. It was a symbol of making it, of achieving something by yourself. It stood for independence. And he took that all away from you, by buying you the one thing you didn’t want anyone else to get for you.
You set your phone aside without opening his message and buried yourself under your blanket again, unwilling to face the day yet.
It was Sunday, so with no classes to attend you were free to do just that. For a while you drifted in and out of sleep, finding yourself sobbing into your pillow in between.
All of this made you feel so wrong.
It wasn't just the necklace. The necklace somehow triggered something bigger; it made you question your whole relationship with him. It made you question why you always felt like someone else when you were with him. As if you were a little kid trying on your mom's high heels.
And you were tired of it. You wanted your own shoes back.
After a while—you must have slipped back to sleep yet again—you heard soft knocking against your door. When you groaned in reply, the door opened a crack and Wooseok stuck his head in.
"Y/n?" he asked softly before slipping into the room and closing the door behind him, a steaming cup in his hand.
You hid your face behind the blanket, convinced that you must be looking like pure horror from all the crying. Heck, now that you thought of it you couldn't remember taking off your make up yesterday so you probably had terrible panda eyes. Probably already did by the time Wooseok picked you up yesterday.
It was quiet for a moment, before you heard the hesitant shuffling of steps coming closer.
"I made you tea."
You didn't reply nor did you come out from under the blanket.
"Uh, I'll just–uh–put this here," he mumbled and you heard him set the cup onto your night stand.
It got quiet again and you thought he'd leave but then you felt the mattress dip as he sat down on the edge of it. He sat there for a while not really saying anything. You didn't move either.
"Are you okay?" he eventually tried again.
"I'm okay," you replied but your voice came out croaky and thin.
"Won't you come out?"
You shook your head.
"Why not?"
"I'm a mess"
"C'mon, y/n, i saw you after your wisdom tooth removal when you were drooling all over yourself. What could be worse than that?"
He had a point there. This was Wooseok after all, he already saw your most shameful sides anyway. Hesitantly, you pulled down the blanket revealing your puffy face.
Wooseok smiled at you softly. “See? I've totally encountered worse."
Now you had to giggle too and it somehow made tears roll down your cheeks again.
Wooseok's eyes grew wide and he panicked, lifting his hands to do something, anything, against the tears but not really knowing what. Watching flail so helplessly made you giggle more which in turn made you cry more too. You wiped at the corners of your eyes still smiling as you mumbled a quiet "You're an idiot."
He shrugged. “Takes one to know one."
You just rolled your eyes at him and it got quiet again.
"Tea?" Wooseok asked after a while.
You nodded before sitting up in your bed, leaning against the headboard. He reached out to you, as if he was trying to help you sit (even though you clearly didn't need the help) before he moved his attention to the tea instead, passing the cup to you. You took it in both hands, blowing on it a few times before taking a careful sip.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?"
You didn't look up at him and stared at the steam of your cup instead. "I don't know."
"You don't have to"
"It's probably stupid anyway."
"If it makes you cry like that it isn't stupid."
You swallowed, feeling tears well up yet again at his words. For fucks sake why couldn't you just stop crying already?!
You shrugged. “We went out for dinner."
"Okay," he replied patiently.
"He bought me jewelry."
"Mhm."
"A necklace."
"Okay."
"...It was my necklace," you finally supplied, convinced that Wooseok wouldn't even remember and that you'd have to explain more.
But the moment you said it his eyes widened in surprise "The first paycheck necklace?"
Somehow it moved you that he remembered it.
You nodded slowly.
"And did he uh... did he know?"
"...Yeah."
Wooseok frowned at you. "Then why would he buy it?!"
Relief washed over you when he asked that, making you feel less like an overdramatic nuisance and more as if your frustration about this was actually valid
"He meant well," you mumbled.
"You don't have to defend him."
"He thought i really wanted it," you defended him anyway.
"But you didn't just want it. You wanted to buy it yourself and he knew that."
You nodded. "Yeah."
He nodded too, realizing that maybe his words weren't the most comforting.
"I'm sorry that happened, y/n"
"Thank you."
"...so what will you do?"
"About him? I don't know..."
Wooseok hadn't meant him, he'd meant the necklace. But when you seemed so unsure about being with your boyfriend a small part of him felt hopeful, almost glad.
He immediately shushed that part though. You were having a horrible time and there was nothing he hated more than seeing you unhappy. This wasn't the time to hope for anything.
"Do you- uh," he interrupted himself, not sure what to do with himself. "Can I do anything for you?"
"Turn back time maybe?" A shallow laugh escaped your lips.
"You know I would," he said. And he meant it. If he could, he would turn back time to before you even met that guy. "But is there anything a little less impossible?"
Honestly, all you wanted right now were comfort cuddles, but you didn't know if you could ask for that. You stared at the tips of your fingers that were wrapped tightly around the tea cup.
"Maybe we could watch a movie?"
He smiled fondly and nodded.
"Wanna move to the living room then?"
You hesitated. "No."
"Oh." he blushed and looked away from you. "Okay. I'll uh get my laptop then..."
He got up again to leave, but before reaching the door he turned back around to you
"What about food?"
You shrugged.
"I'll get you something."
"...Thank you"
After a while, he came back, carrying way too many things at once as he maneuvered himself into the room. He had his laptop under his arm, a package of waffles in one hand, a small bowl with cut up apples in the other and it seemed like he had something in the pocket of his hoodie too.
You had to chuckle when you saw him coming in
"Do you need help?"
"Mostly I need you to scoot over a bit."
You obliged and he carefully set the food on your nightstand while you pulled out the laptop from underneath his arm.
He halted for a moment before he sat down next to you, slipping under the blanket that you held up for him.
Whatever was in his pocket was making a rustling plastic noise as he sat down.
"Ah, right," he mumbled, pulling out the package of cleansing tissues you usually kept in the bathroom and handing it over to you.
"You know, in case you want to..." He vaguely gestured at his face.
"That bad, huh.” You grabbed the package from his hand with a chuckle.
"It's fine."
You wiped your face, all the smeared left over makeup coming off, while he set up his laptop.
"So, what do you want to watch?"
"Something corny and romantic."
He scrunched up his face but didn't reject the idea. Instead he googled romantic movies and put on one that he'd heard of before.
In hindsight though, it probably hadn’t been the best choice.
You were munching on a waffle that Wooseok had passed to you as the first scene of Breakfast at Tiffany's rolled over the screen, Audrey Hepburn longingly staring at the bracelets behind the display window.
Wooseok noticed his mistake immediately but it was already too late. When he glanced over at you, big elephant tears were running down your cheeks again, dripping onto the waffle you were eating.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know— should I put on something else?"
You shook your head, still munching on the tear drained waffle.
"I gave it back to him," you mumbled between bites, your eyes still focused on the laptop screen where the movie continued.
"That's good."
"I really wanted to buy it."
"You could still buy it?"
You shook your head again before resting it against Wooseok's shoulder. You felt him tense up for a moment at the sudden proximity.
"It wouldn't be the same."
"... Yeah. I know."
For a while it was silent except for the sound of the movie running, but then Wooseok softly raised his voice again.
"We'll find something new." He scooted down on your bed a bit so he could rest his head against yours.
"We'll find something new that you can gift yourself. And then we won't tell anyone about it so no one can beat you to buying it because no one will know."
"You will know."
"Yeah. But I'd never buy it for you."
"Pinky promise?" You held out your hand in front of him and he intertwined your finger with his
"Pinky promise."
You knew you couldn’t just ghost your boyfriend forever, he didn’t deserve that. So after holing up at home with Wooseok the rest of the weekend, you decided to face the music on Monday.
You wrote him a message, telling him you got home well and if he was okay to meet up with you one of these days. The two of you decided on Tuesday. He asked if he should pick you up after classes and take you back to his place but you declined, asking for a walk in the park instead.
Frankly speaking, you weren’t sure how the conversation would go. You weren’t sure what consequences would be drawn for the two of you. But whether you’d break up or not you had the urge to meet in a neutral place. Somehow throughout this relationship, you’d always intruded in his places. Starting with the party where you met, a party of his friends where you’d barely belonged, and continuing from there: His home, his car, his favorite restaurants, the cafés he recommended—you were always his guest. But this time, you needed to be on equal footing.
“Are you going to… break up with him?” Wooseok asked hesitantly between spoons of ice cream, when you told him about it on Monday evening.
“I don’t know,” you replied truthfully, before dipping your spoon into the shared family pack that was sitting on the couch table.
He nodded. “Just do what feels right.”
“I’ll try.”
“Should we leave some of the ice cream in case you need it tomorrow?”
You looked at the box thoughtfully before taking another spoonful. “Nah, I don’t have that kind of self-restraint.”
“Thank god.”
“You know,” you mindlessly started again. “I wish I could have felt at home with him the way I do with you.”
Wooseok looked at you with an unsatisfied frown. "Why? Is it not enough when it's me you feel at home with? Isn’t one home enough?"
You giggled. “No, I think you’re right. It’s enough, as long as I have you.”
You weren’t sure what you’d had expected, but somehow everything felt off and different when you met your boyfriend on Tuesday. It was as if a single weekend had made strangers out of you.
From the moment your eyes met each other on your campus, the two of you were stiff. You didn’t know how to greet him. Were you supposed to kiss and hug? That’s what you usually did but today you didn’t want to.
Seemingly, your boyfriend had similar struggles because he just awkwardly raised his hand in a wave.
“Hey,” he said.
“Hey,” you replied.
You stood there for a moment, not knowing what to say before he nodded in the direction of the park. “Should we go?”
“Yeah…”
The weird silence returned as you set foot into the park and continued for quite a while afterwards. You could hear the geese quacking in the distance and you would have said something about it if the one walking with you had been Wooseok. But it wasn't.
“So,” he said eventually. “You didn’t just meet me to take a walk in silence right?”
“No.”
“Well, then talk.”
“I just… I felt really hurt about the present to be honest,” you carefully started.
He scoffed. “Yeah, I noticed.”
You immediately regretted bringing it up. Maybe you were being stupid for making such a fuss after all.
But then Wooseok’s words rang in your head again giving you a little confidence. If it makes you cry like that it isn't stupid.
You took a deep breath.
“I told you that I wanted to buy this necklace for myself and what it meant to me. So when you just bought it for me, it felt as if you didn’t listen to me.”
“I already told you it was a misunderstanding. Usually when your date brings up jewelry it’s because they want it. So I just assumed—is it really something to be so dramatic about?”
You frowned. “I’m allowed to feel hurt about this.”
“Well, I’m sorry you feel that way.”
He didn’t actually roll his eyes but his expression and the tone in his voice made you feel like he did. It was obvious that he didn’t feel sorry at all. And what kind of apology was that anyway? I’m sorry you feel that way? Shouldn’t it be I’m sorry I made you feel that way? But maybe you were being nit-picky.
When you didn’t reply he sighed. “So what now?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“Are we seriously breaking up because of a mere necklace?”
“I wasn’t–'' You interrupted yourself. What were you going to say? That you weren’t going to break up with him? Were you really not?
You shook your head defeatedly. “It’s more than that. But that you can’t see that and that it’s still just a mere necklace to you is part of the problem.”
“Well, if I can’t see it then explain it to me!” The way he raised his voice made you flinch, but you tried your best to stay composed and not let any insecurity show on your face.
Still, your voice quivered when you spoke up. “I just—I feel so small when I’m with you.”
“Small? That’s ridiculous.”
“I’m not saying it’s your fault. But when we’re together I feel small and pathetic. I just do. And I don’t want to feel that way anymore.”
He laughed. “Is this about him? Is he finally returning your feelings now?”
“What?! No! This is about me.”
“Sure, whatever. You can come pick up your things while I’m at work then.”
“I don’t have any things left at your place.”
“Right,” he sneered. “Even better then.”
He turned to walk away, just like that, leaving you standing in the park. You felt yourself choke up. How did things turn out this way? He’d been so sweet all this time, treating you so well. How could everything go down the drain like this? He’d always seemed so mature to you, so why was it you couldn’t talk things out with him?
The geese were closer now, waddling over the green lawn. They were quiet, no conversations of stuck up church ladies to be heard. Not that it made a difference.
With heavy steps you made your way home, bursting out in tears as soon as the door closed behind you. You knew that Wooseok was still at a lecture at this time, so nothing stopped you from crouching down on the floor and sobbing into your knees until no more tears were coming out. Then you trudged over to the couch and buried yourself under pillows and blankets.
Your mind briefly wandered to the ice cream and you were regretting now that you hadn’t saved any for today.
You must have fallen asleep at some point, because when you woke up, Wooseok was crouching down in front of the couch, looking at you with a worried frown.
“You okay?” He asked, even though you so obviously weren’t.
You shook your head, it was no use keeping up fronts with him anyway.
“Ice cream?”
“We ate it all yesterday.”
A winning smile tugged at his lips. “I bought a new one on my way home.”
“You’re the best. I really love you.”
You hadn’t meant to say that. Or maybe you had, but you clearly hadn’t meant anything by it. Friends say that sometimes, right?
Yet, you noticed the way Wooseok’s ears turned red as he stood up. He cleared his throat. “I’ll get us some spoons.”
“Thanks,” you croaked, desperately trying to play it cool. You’d only just broken up with your boyfriend today, it clearly wasn’t the right time for whatever this was.
He came back with the ice cream and the spoons, motioning for you to scoot over so he could sit next to you. Huddled together on the couch, you put on some movie and watched in silence, eating ice cream until you felt sick. Wooseok didn’t pressure you to tell him what happened, but you knew if you wanted to talk about it, he’d listen to you.
You didn’t feel like talking about it though, not yet. For now you just wanted to sit on the couch together, enjoying the familiarity of it all.
Eventually you felt yourself getting tired, your eyes unable to focus on the screen anymore, so you excused yourself to go to bed. As soon as you were lying in bed though, you were wide awake again, the argument with your boyfriend—ex-boyfriend—playing on repeat in your restless mind. You kept tossing and turning, unable to calm your thoughts.
It wasn’t necessarily that you regretted the break-up; how could you stay in a relationship that made you feel like you didn’t belong? But it hurt nonetheless. Despite everything you’d liked being with him. It hurt that it ended like this and it hurt that it ended at all.
Tears were welling up in your eyes again and you sobbed into your pillow, trying to muffle the sounds. You’d lost count of how often you’d cried over the past few days.
When you dragged out of your room around noon the next day, you found a very surprised Wooseok in the kitchen.
“Y/n? Don’t you have classes?”
You shrugged, before plopping down at the small kitchen table. “I‘m skipping.”
Wooseok frowned, worry written all over his face. But he didn’t comment on it further.
“Coffee?” He lifted the can, shaking it lightly.
When you nodded he got your favorite mug from the cupboard and poured you some, just the way he knew you liked it. You briefly wondered if your ex would have known how you drink your coffee.
Wooseok put the steaming mug onto the table in front of you before he sat down as well.
“You look tired,” he mumbled after a while. “Were you able to sleep?”
You shrugged again, not really knowing what to tell him. You’d barely gotten rest but it also felt too much to admit to that fact. “It’s fine.”
He didn’t seem satisfied at all but he didn’t press further.
“I have classes later, do you want me to bring something on the way back?” A small encouraging grin appeared on his lips. “More ice cream?”
Despite feeling miserable, the question got a little chuckle out of you. “I never thought I would say this but I think I’ve had enough ice cream for a while.”
“Alright, anything else? Or uhm—,” he halted, clearly contemplating if it was okay to address this or not before he continued. “Do you need me to pick anything up from his place?”
“No, I don’t have anything left there. Thank you though.”
He nodded. “It’s no problem.”
“Wooseok?”
“Hm?”
“Thank you.”
Wooseok chuckled. “You already said that?”
“No, I mean—thank you for being there for me.”
His eyes looked at you so fondly, it almost made your heart ache a little bit.
“Of course I am there for you. I—,” he halted. “I’m your friend.”
Somehow the break up was taking a real toll on you. Even though you hadn’t been dating for long, you felt incredibly lonely and there were all kinds of other feelings too that you didn’t want to address. It was a terrible thing to say, but despite the relationship in hindsight not being the best for either of you, you’d been grateful for the distraction it had provided. Now that it was over, you were alone again. Alone in your bed, alone with your thoughts, alone with your stupid feelings for someone you shouldn’t be having feelings for at all.
Your emotional tumult kept you tossing and turning night after night, leaving you tired and exhausted in the mornings.
Wooseok had noticed; you were convinced he had. He kept looking at you with worried eyes, clearly unsure if he should say anything or not. But what was he supposed to say anyway? It’s not like he could solve this.
Struggling to fall asleep yet another night, you eventually peeled yourself out of bed and made your way to the kitchen. Maybe drinking a cup of herbal tea could help you find some rest. You sat down at the table sipping on your tea when you heard a door open and Wooseok’s shuffled steps shortly after that as he followed the source of light to the kitchen.
He eyed you with a drowsy frown. “Why are you awake?”
You shrugged. “Couldn’t sleep. Did I wake you up?”
He ignored your question, the furrows between his eyebrows deepening even more. “You haven’t been sleeping these days, have you?”
You averted your gaze, almost feeling as if he was scolding you. “I’ve just been overthinking a lot.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Wooseok took a seat across from you. “Maybe I could have helped you?”
“How?” You huffed a laugh. “By staying awake as well?”
“I wouldn’t have minded.”
Judging by Wooseok’s pout, you’d sounded a bit too sarcastic. You blamed it on your lack of sleep but you still felt guilty. You tried your best to soften up a little, giving him your best attempt at a smile when you replied.
“At least one of us should get some decent sleep though.”
“Still,” he shrugged. “We could have come up with a solution together.”
“For example?”
“We could watch a movie until you feel sleepy,” he mumbled, and then even quieter, “or you could sleep in my room…”
“Huh?”
“Just—! Just because it’s easier to sleep when you’re not alone.”
Of course it wasn’t a good idea to agree to this. But recalling how lonely you’d felt in your bed you couldn’t help but think that he had a point.
“Maybe,” you said reluctantly, your voice barely a whisper. “Maybe we could try that?”
Despite being the one who suggested it, Wooseok seemed completely caught off guard, looking at you with wide, round eyes. He visibly swallowed.
“Seriously?”
“I mean, only if it doesn’t bother you.” You didn’t dare to meet his gaze. “But I guess it was a joke—”
“No,” he interrupted. “It wasn’t a joke.”
Just like that, you found yourself awkwardly standing in Wooseok’s door frame a little later, your pillow and blanket slung over your arm. Wooseok sat on the edge of his mattress, his pillow and blanket shoved to one side to make space for you. You’d been to his room a zillion times before, but it felt so different now, so much more intimate.
“You can come in, you know.”
“Right.” Your whole body felt tense as you stepped inside, closing the door behind you. This was a terrible idea indeed.
You let your pillow and blanket fall onto the mattress before crawling into bed, trying to take up as little space as possible. It was weird, really, because you’d never been this careful around him. You were touching all the time, when you squeezed past him in the kitchen or when the two of you huddled together on the couch. Yet, now just the thought of accidentally touching him made your heart race.
Once you’d settled in, he laid down as well, looking stiff as a board.
“I’ll turn the light off,” he commented, already reaching out for the switch of his bedside lamp.
“Right,” you replied once more.
For a moment you just laid in his bed, side by side staring into the darkness. You didn’t turn around to look at him, but you knew he wasn’t asleep. He seemed tense, and you had a feeling he wanted to say something, but it took ages until he finally spoke up. His voice was barely audible, something that didn’t happen often when it came to Wooseok. Still, you heard him just fine.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Did you—Do you love him?”
“I—,” you started, instinctively wanting to tell him that yes, you did, you do. But you stopped yourself in favor of being honest. What was the use of lying about this, especially now that it was over anyway?
“No. But I thought maybe I could.”
“Is that why you dated him? Because you wanted to fall in love with him?”
“Is that so wrong?”
“No, it’s just—I don’t get it. Shouldn’t it come naturally?”
When you turned to look at him, his gaze was already on you, his eyes big and round in the halflight of the room.
“You can’t force yourself to fall in love. You can’t force yourself to fall out of love either.”
For a moment you felt unsettled. Did he catch you? Did he realize your feelings? Unsure what to make of it, you just stared at him through the darkness without replying.
“I’m just saying—,” he added, breaking eye contact. “You don’t have to try so hard.”
You swallowed, your mouth feeling dry. “Yeah,” you whispered. “Thank you.”
He didn't say anything after that and eventually his breathing got slow and even. You couldn't sleep though. His words kept you awake, filling you with a longing for things to be easy, natural, as he'd said.
"I did it for you too, you know," you almost unconsciously mumbled into the silence, well aware that Wooseok was already sleeping.
Except he wasn’t.
"What do you mean?"
Your eyes widened at the sound of gis raspy voice and you instinctively sat up, ready to escape. "No," you quickly pressed out, "nothing. Maybe I should—"
Before you could say anything about going back to your own room, you felt Wooseok's hand on your own. He wasn't holding onto you and you could have easily pulled away, but it felt warm and comforting covering your own.
"What do you mean?" he asked again.
You let a beat pass by, unsure if you should be honest with them. As though he sensed your indecisiveness, Wooseok gave your hand a little squeeze.
"What did you do for me?" His voice was so soft, you could barely hear it.
"Dating," you whispered. "Dating him."
You thought you saw him frown. "How could that have been for me?"
You felt a lump in your throat that made it hard to speak. But you'd already been this honest, maybe it was for the best to just lay it all out in the open.
"To get over you," you pressed out.
It was silent. You felt his gaze on you but you didn't dare to look at him. The mattress dipped a little as he sat up too, his hand still on yours. "Why?"
"Because I—," you started but Wooseok wasn’t done yet.
"Why did you think you had to get over me?" He almost sounded sad, and then he definitely did when he tentatively added: "Did it work?"
When you finally turned to look at him, there was desperation in his eyes but maybe also just the tiniest bit of hope.
"No," you admitted. "Not at all."
He let out a sigh you thought was relief as he let his head drop onto your shoulder, just to look up a second later with big black eyes. "Don't try again."
You felt your heart stop at the implication of his words.
"Why would you try that, when all I wanted all this time was for you to see me?" He still didn’t avert his eyes and neither did you.
"I did," you leaned into him, resting your forehead against his. "I do,” you added.
He tilted his chin up, the tiniest bit, making the tip of his nose touch yours. You saw the way his gaze dropped to your lips and you felt his breath on your skin. You swallowed, your whole body thrumming with nerves. Your eyes searched his for something, and even though you weren’t sure what it was exactly, you thought you found it. You leaned in to kiss him in the same moment that he did, your teeth clashing for a brief moment. You chuckled and he chuckled too, and then you leaned in again, no teeth this time, just lips and love and butterflies.
You didn't remember how or when you'd fallen asleep. You didn't think you'd been wrapped up in Wooseok's long limbs then as you were now, but you couldn't be too sure. It took you a second to realize where you were and who it was that was koala-hugging you, and then another second to remember yesterday's conversations. You glanced over at his peacefully sleeping face at your side, not a trace of the desperation there that you'd seen at night. It hadn’t been a mere dream, right?
You tried to peel yourself out of his grasp, but Wooseok wouldn't let you go, making a whiny noise in complaint. Defeated, you let yourself relax back into the pillow, soaking up his warmth until he woke up.
You thought he'd be flustered once he'd wake up, and maybe he was, but he still didn't let go, instead nuzzling closer and hiding his face in the crook of your neck.
"That tickles," you said with a giggle. The little sorry he mumbled into your skin tickled even more.
You felt giddy, your stomach filled with butterflies at this display of affection, but at the same time there was a sense of insecurity. What did it all mean exactly? Of course you knew what you wanted it to mean, but was Wooseok on the same plate?
“Wooseok?”
“Hm?” He lifted his head to look at you. His eyes were sleepy and his black hair tousled.
“What now?”
He frowned in confusion. “Breakfast, I guess?”
“No, I mean—what do we do now? About us.”
“So, no breakfast?” He asked and you gave him a little roll of your eyes.
“I’m being serious, you know.”
“I’m also serious,” he replied, and then in a little whisper added, “About us, about you.”
“So we’re doing this, huh? Dating, I mean.”
“Yeah.”
You felt your chest tighten. “We’re not going to mess this up, right?”
He pulled you closer, nuzzling back into your neck. “No. We’re not. We’ll be okay.”
You smiled and closed your eyes as you relaxed into his arms. “Okay.”
“Where are you going?” Wooseok asked, wrapping his arms around you from behind and resting his chin on top of your head, watching through the mirror as you fixed your makeup.
“Meeting with Claire and them,” you said. You hesitated for a moment before adding, “you can come along, if you want.”
You saw surprise flash through his eyes. After all, you’d never asked him to come along before. But you’d figured now that he already knew about your feelings for him, there wasn’t really any reason to keep him away from your friends anymore.
“Hm,” he hummed as if he was contemplating. “Not today, I’m in a couch mood.”
You chuckled. “Another time then.”
“I’ll wait for you.”
“I’ll be late, though.”
“I’ll wait.”
Memories of the way he’d fallen asleep on the couch last time, worried since you’d forgotten your phone, crossed your mind, and you wondered if you’d find him just the same way tonight. Except, this time you wouldn’t have someone else’s number in your pocket and you wouldn't shake off his hand if he reached out to you.

I told you
Request: I can i have a pentagon wooseok where he is sick and his girlfriend has to take care of him please P.s keep up the good work
Pairings: Wooseok x Reader
Warnings: None
Genre: Fluff
A/N: Here it is. I hope you enjoy it and sorry for being late.^^
“I really have to fight the urge to say ‘I told you’ right n-” you were interrupted by a sneeze. “Bless you” you sighed and replaced the cooling pack which rested on his forehead with a new one.
“Thanks.” Wooseok said with a nasally voice. He caught a cold because he was too stubborn to listen to you.
Flashback
“Okay babe. I’m going. See you tomorrow.” he said just before exiting your apartment.
“Wait,Wooseok. Are you going out like that? Today is really cold, you know and if you leave like that you’ll most likely get sick.” you told him concerned about his health.
“Nah. I’m sure I won’t get sick. The dorm isn’t that far from here and I really don’t feel like wearing a coat right now.”
“Fine but when you get sick, don’t expect me to take care of you.” you sighed, hands on your hips giving him the ‘You-really-should-listen-to-me-because-I’m-right’ look.
He just rolled his eyes and left but not before telling you again that he won’t get sick.
Now here you were, taking care of your boyfriend who laid in your bed with a high fever. You didn’t want to take care of him just because he didn’t listen to you even though you knew he would catch a cold. But when he knocked on your door with a pale face, sweating and looking totally worn out, you just didn’t have it in you to tell him ‘I told you’ and to leave him deal with the consequences for not listening to his girlfriend who is always right.
“I’ll go make you some soup. Try to sleep in the meantime.” Wooseok weakly nodded while watching you leave the room. It didn’t take much to fall asleep after that.
When you came back with the food and some medicine for him to take after eating, you weren’t surprised to find your boyfriend sleeping. What surprised you was the fact that even if he is sick with a high running fever, pale and with bags under his eyes, Wooseok still looked breathtakingly handsome. Leave it to the giant maknae to still look good with a snooty nose.
“Wooseok-ah. Wake up, the soup is ready.” he furrowed his brows and slowly opened one eye. You grinned to yourself thinking about how adorable this boy can be. He sat up against the headboard and you placed the tray on his lap.
“Woah. It’s really good, (Y/N).” he smiled while looking at you. A blush spread out on your face and you tried to hide it behind your hair. He chuckled a little already knowing the effect his words had on you.
After eating, you gave him the medicine and a glass of water. He took the medicine and cringed at the bitter taste they had, making you laugh at his silly face.
You stood up to bring the tray back in the kitchen but Wooseok grabbed your wrist and pulled you under the covers immediately warping his strong arms around your smaller body.
“Yah! What are you doing? You are going to pass me the cold too.” you struggled to get free but even if he was sick, he was still stronger than you.
“You’ll get sick only if I kiss you and besides I’m really cold so I need your warmth” he uttered pulling you closer to him and resting his head in the crook of your neck. You sighed and relaxed in his arms, warping your own around his back. “Fine..” you started stroking his hair while humming to a song which was stuck in your head.
“Gosh I really want to kiss you right now” he whined against your skin. “Well, you have to wait a few more days because no way in hell am I letting you to get me sick.” He groaned while whispering that he hated being sick.
“I told you that you’ll get sick.” you laughed while he groaned again. From now on he would always listen to you.

Your First Time Being Affectionate In Front Of Another Member ~ Pentagon Reaction
Jinho:
You pushed Jinho towards the door as he pressed a quick kiss to your lips on his way out. “You’ll be late,” you warned him with a grin.
His shoulders shrugged, looking up as Shinwon walked out of his room and towards the front door too, “don’t stop on my account, I’ll just pretend that I didn’t see you kissing.”
“It was one kiss,” Jinho chuckled as Shinwon passed you both by to head out.
His eyes rolled as he looked back to you both, “it’s one kiss more than any of us have ever seen you share before,” he joked, “I didn’t realise that the two of you were affectionate together.”
“And this is why we’re not affectionate around you,” Jinho quickly explained, “because I knew you guys wouldn’t be able to not tease.”
A sheepish grin formed on Shinwon’s face, “I’m just saying, you guys shouldn’t be afraid of kissing in front of us, it’s all very cute and very lovely for us to see.”
“You sound sarcastic,” you laughed back across at him, “are you going to leave this place and regret leaving your room?”
“Absolutely, every single second of it.”
Hui:
A cheer came from you as soon as you saw Hoetaek, immediately wrapping your arms around him. “Congratulations,” you smiled.
His arms moved around you too, forgetting about the boys walking behind him. “I’m so glad that you could be here,” he grinned back at you, pulling away a few moments later.
“Hey, where’s our hugs?” Yanan teased, opening his arms up for you to walk into.
Your head shook as Hoetaek tightened his arm that was around you, “Y/N’s mine,” he reminded them all, bringing you in as tight as he could to see his side as you congratulated them.
“I thought everyone got a hug because we won,” Yanan pouted, “we’ve never seen you exclusively hug Hoetaek before, or do anything.”
You quickly fell silent as you realised that you had never been affectionate with Hoetaek around the boys before. “I’m not letting Y/N hug any of you losers.”
“We’re not losers, we’re winners,” Yanan reminded him, pointing to the award that the boys had picked up at the ceremony.
“Which is why I’m the one getting hugged.”
Hongseok:
As a scoff came, the two of you looked around to see Hyunggu staring back at you. “You know you’re blocking the way around doing this.”
You went to step back, but Hongseok kept a hold of you. “You know there are many other routes you can take to the living room without having to be irritating for once.”
“But this way is the most convenient,” Hyunggu smugly retorted to him.
You went to move again, but Hongseok pulled you back. “Y/N and I aren’t moving, so you can either walk through our hug or take a different way around to head into the living room.”
“What do you see in him?” Hyunggu suddenly asked him, “the first time I see him be affectionate with you, and this is how he is.”
Your shoulders shrugged, feeling slightly stuck in the middle. “I just do as I’m told,” you laughed, feeling Hongseok tighten his grip around you quickly.
“He’s mean,” Hyunggu sighed as he reluctantly walked around your embrace, “I preferred it when you weren’t affectionate.”
“Sorry, but that side of me has gone.”
Shinwon:
The two of you both jumped back as the door opened and Changgu walked in. “Don’t mind me, I just forgot to pick up my phone.”
Your head shook as you stepped back from Shinwon, “it’s alright,” you nervously smiled, bringing your hands forward as you tried your best to bring a smile to your face.
“No need to be shy,” Changgu assured you as he walked past you, “a hug is no big deal.”
As soon as he spoke you felt your cheeks flush with Shinwon chuckling beside you. “I told you that the boys wouldn’t mind if we hugged whilst at work,” he teased, poking your hip.
“We like seeing you guys together,” Changgu also encouraged, “you know that you’re very much treated like part of the family Y/N.”
Your head nodded appreciatively in reply to him, “thank you,” you murmured as Shinwon moved his arm to wrap around you once again, “that means a lot to me.”
“You make Shinwon happy, which makes us happy,” he smiled as he opened up the studio door again, “I’ll leave you two to it.”
“We won’t be too long, I promise.”
Yeo One:
A look of confusion appeared on Changgu’s face as he pulled away from you to see Yuto staring at him. “What have I done now?”
Yuto shook his head back at Changgu as he watched you walk away, “you’ve not done anything, I just think you and Y/N are really adorable with one another, that’s all.”
“How long have you been stood there watching us?” Changgu asked, slightly concerned.
Yuto’s head shook as he realised what Changgu was thinking, “only a couple of seconds, I promise. I just didn’t want to interrupt your hug, you seemed like you needed it a bit.”
“A little,” Changgu frowned, running his hand through his hair, “Y/N gives really good hugs, they’re incredibly comforting for me.”
Yuto nodded understandingly, “you don’t have to be afraid to hug her around us you know, we’re all happy for you seeing how often you smile with her.”
“I’ll bear that in mind,” Changgu replied, “although I know one or two members who’ll find a way to joke with it.”
“Leave them to me, I’m on your side.”
Yanan:
A squeal escaped you as a pair of hands grabbed onto your shoulders as soon as Yanan kissed you. “I’m not having that, thank you.”
Your eyes looked back to see Wooseok pulling you away with a shake of his head. “What are you doing?” Yanan frowned, finding his arms suddenly feeling very empty.
“You’ve got a bedroom to be affectionate in,” Wooseok quickly reminded you both.
Your heads shook as Wooseok made sure that there was plenty of distance between you both. “It was one kiss,” Yanan tried to tell him, but Wooseok wasn’t interested at all.
“I’m keeping a close eye on you both from now on,” he warned, “we don’t want to see any kissing in this dormitory from now on.”
You looked across at Yanan who was equally as confused as you were, “you know that we can’t do that, don’t you?” Yanan asked him with a loud laugh.
“I’ll keep you both apart,” Wooseok promised, “I’ve got young eyes, and they don’t need to see you both being sweet.”
“Your young eyes won’t be young forever.”
Yuto:
A sudden gasp came from you as a hand wrapped around your arm and pulled you down a corridor. “It’s just me,” a voice spoke.
Your hands immediately hit against Yuto’s chest as you realised that it was him holding onto you. “What on earth are you planning at? You terrified me for a second there.”
“I just wanted to get you alone without the boys,” he smiled, holding onto your waist.
The smile on your face grew as Yuto began to pull you towards him, only for someone to clear their throat. “Is this what the two of you are doing, hiding so you can be affectionate alone?”
“N-no,” Yuto stuttered as you looked down the corridor to see Hongseok watching you both with his arms folded across his chest.
His head shook at the looks of fear on both of your faces, “I can’t believe you guys felt as if you had to hide in order to hug each other when around us.”
“It’s better than listening to you guys tease,” Yuto retorted, “I know exactly what you guys would be like around us.”
“We would never do such a thing.”
Kino:
Your paced picked up as Hyunggu started to follow you around the kitchen, “we’ll break something if you don’t stop this.”
Hyunggu didn’t care though as he grabbed onto you and started to tickle you, “they won’t be asleep yet, you don’t need to worry about waking any of them up.
“Oh, won’t we?” A sudden voice spoke up in the doorway to the kitchen where you were.
The two of you both stopped as you looked across to see Hoetaek stood there, “we leave you two alone for five minutes and you’re like kids running around the place causing trouble.
“it’s Y/N’s fault,” Hyunggu quickly told him, pointing across to you, “she blew bubbles at me when we were doing the washing up.”
Your eyes went wide as Hyunggu threw you under the bus, “I didn’t ask you to start chasing me around the kitchen and start tickling me too.”
“Hyunggu, sort it out,” Hoetaek scolded, taking your side straight away, “Y/N is far too innocent to do something like that.”
“You don’t know her like I do.”
Wooseok:
You both froze as the door to the dorm opened up, pulling the blanket tighter around you. “What are you two up to?”
Your eyes darted to the door as Jinho walked through the front door. “We’re not doing anything, we’re just watching a film,” Wooseok quickly explained to him.
“Is that all you’re doing?” He pushed, looking at the close distance between you both.
Your heads both nodded in response, “it just got a little chilly, so we pulled one of the blankets down,” you added, trying to assure Jinho that there was no need to panic.
“You two are cute,” he suddenly complimented though, “it’s nice to see you cuddled up, you’re always so distant from each other.”
You smiled weakly back across at him, “I just like to be respectful that this is you guys’ home, I’m a guest here, even when I’m with Wooseok.”
“Y/N,” Jinho chuckled, “this is your home when you’re with Wooseok, never worry about any of us, trust me.”
“Thanks, that really means a lot.”

happy birthday wooseok
warning(s): food mention
so, the day would start off pretty normal for the two of you - wooseok would be at the studio by the time you wake up because he wanted to work on a few songs that he and the members would have started working on a few days before
what wouldn’t be all that normal would be the fact that wooseok would be the only one at the studio. i think he’d kind of question it at first but then he’d shrug it off and come to the conclusion that everyone else wanted more time to sleep
after a few hours wooseok would get a little worried as everyone agreed to meet up that morning. he’d get a little more worried when no one would respond to his texts, so he’d figure something was wrong with his phone or service so he’d text and ask you to contact them
when you’d get his text, you and the rest of pentagon would be leaving out of a cafe with drinks and so many containers of food. you’d feel a little bad for him but they’d all assure you that he would be fine and it was a part of the plan
when you’d all reach the building, wooseok would be in the studio with his headphones on so, he wouldn’t hear all of you file into the room, which would be beyond surprising because of all of the noise they’d make and your laughing
wooseok would probably be in the middle of searching for new animes to watch as you’d all noisily enter the studio but he’d shift in the chair a little bit and he’d see movement out of the corner of his eye
he’d probably jump slightly before he’d realize it was all of you and he’d roll his eyes when he’d realize changgu and hyunggu would be recording his reaction and you would all burst out into giggles but hui’s laughing would make it even funnier
once all of you would calm down, you’d hand out the food and drinks and you would all eat in comfortable silence for a bit because the food would be that good and also because wooseok would try to keep a serious expression on his face but he’d cave in and laugh after a while
the rest of the time at the studio would be spent goofing around and the members would share embarrassing pictures of wooseok before they’d give him his gift
both you and wooseok would smile widely when yanan would hand over the huge photo album. inside would be pictures from their early days before and after debut, and they’d each put handwritten notes on every other page and it would so sweet
later that afternoon, you and wooseok would go back to your shared apartment and you’d give him a few embroidered hoodies and beanies and they’d have a little reminder embroidered on them
later, you’d play video games and re-watch some of wooseok’s favorite movies and even though it would be simple, it would be really nice for wooseok. it would be one of the best birthdays he’d ever had

It was wedding weekend and excitement filled the air all around.
You’d driven upstate with Wooseok and Yuto, all of you telling different stories about the soon-to-be-married couple, who’d been your friends for a few years now.
You were arguably the most excited about it. The chance to wear your best clothes, dance all night and of course, witness two people madly in love getting married got your heart beating happily.
There were the little things that always came up with weddings that tried so hard to kill the mood, particularly the bride and groom’s. But if you could help keeping them from a breakdown in any way, you would take the chance.
Which was how you ended up in the same hotel room as Wooseok.
One of the groom’s siblings had gotten a date a few days prior, and since he’d left the plus one square unchecked in his invitation, there wasn’t a room for them, so yours was given up.
It was fine, though. After being friends with Wooseok for so long, there had been other occasions in which you’d had to share many things.
“You don’t mind, do you?” you questioned, eyes settling on the one bed on the other side of the room. Both of you would fit perfectly, but not without touching each other at some point.
“Not at all,” he replied plopping down in one of the tiny orange sofas. “I’m sorry you had to give up your room though.”
“It’s alright,” you smiled at Wooseok, sitting on the edge of the bed. “It’s not a big deal. There will probably be much more trouble tomorrow at the actual wedding.”
Wooseok was being honest. At the moment it didn’t seem like to trouble him that you would eventually have to sleep on the same bed, you’d fallen asleep together while watching movies a thousand times before. How would this be any different?
“Hmkay,” you sighed, getting up. “We better start getting ready for the rehearsal dinner, can I take a shower first?”
“Sure, of course,” Wooseok got up too, stretching his arms up to the ceiling. “I’ll go to Yuto’s room.”
Leaving you alone to get ready, Wooseok decided to text his friend to find out where he was instead of walking around aimlessly. He joined Yuto, Hyunggu and Changgu downstairs at the bar, along with most of the groomsmen and a couple other guests.
“What are we talking about?” Wooseok asked as the men broke into laughter. He could tell most of them had a few drinks on them already and was reminded of all the problems you’d mentioned would come as the wedding approached.
“They’re talking about their dates, or the lack of them for that matter.” Kino explained, gulping the amber liquid on his glass down. “Euiwoong has seen some of the pretty bridesmaids.”
“You’re one of the only who came with a date,” Euiwoong patted Wooseok on the shoulder. “Which is great, there aren’t enough single guests for all of us.”
“y/n is not my date,” he chuckled lightly, not missing the way Yuto and Kino raised their eyebrows, unconvinced.
When both of you had gotten the invitation to the wedding, you’d been quick to RSVP without checking for plus ones. Wooseok knew you were going, and that was enough to know he’d be accompanied, even if it wasn’t a date.
Euiwoong shrugged. “It seems to everyone like they are. You’re even staying in the same room, and you tell me nothing is going on there?”
“It’s not like that.” Wooseok swallowed, the picture of the one bed in the room returning to his mind. “We’re just friends, we didn’t have anyone else to come with...”
Euiwoong repeated the gesture, a smirk on his lips. “Maybe you just gotta realize some stuff.”
Wooseok looked at Yuto and Changgu for help, while Kino ordered some drinks for them. But both of them shrugged, silently agreeing with the groomsman. It seemed like everyone knew, except for Wooseok and you.
Wooseok couldn’t stop thinking about it all through the rehearsal dinner. You had brought up both your lack of dates in the months before the wedding, mostly saying it was good you weren’t seeing anyone as you wouldn’t be able to take them to the event with you.
And he’d said… he’d said he didn’t care, that he was going with you and that would be more than enough to have fun. He’d even asked what color you were wearing so he could match something to your outfit.
Okay, maybe it didn’t seem at all like you two weren’t each other’s date.
But it wasn’t weird between you two. People often mistook you as each other’s significant other, and you’d laugh it off giving the typical “we’re best friends, we do everything together” speech.
Although lately, he did let you give the speech all alone. He found himself staring at you constantly, wiping his sweaty hands on his jeans right after you’d gave them a squeeze, feeling like he’d lost his footing every time you kissed his cheek.
Euiwoong was wrong. He didn’t need to realize anyhing, he already had.
“What are you thinking?” you tapped Wooseok’s shoulder as you two walked back to your room after dinner. “You seem distracted.”
“Nothing,” he shrugged, knowing well that answer didn’t work with you.
“I can ask someone to let me crash their floor,” you suggested. He’d seemed way thoughtful about sharing the bed and although it was coming across as really weird to you, you wouldn’t put it against him to feel uncomfortable.
“No!” he made you jump at the sudden raise in his voice, “You don’t have to do that.”
“Okay,” you nodded, “If you want to talk about whatever is bothering you, I will listen.”
“Thank you,” he smiled, sliding his card to open the door of the room and letting you get in first.
It was a very long night for Wooseok. He had barely slept, scared that even breathing too close to you might betray his thoughts. Should he tell you how he felt about you now? How his feelings had shifted without him even noticing?
Your fingers sank into his shoulder softly, attempting to wake him up without a jump scare. But Wooseok still jolted awake, apologizing immediately for making you jump as well.
“We’re going to be late,” you whispered carefully. You had no idea what had gotten into his mind to make him this nervous, and it was slightly hurtful that he refused to let you know. There weren’t any secrets between the two of you.
“Right,” he yawned, rubbing his eyes without care. “We should hurry up, then.”
The morning went by silently as both of you got ready on opposite sides of the room, glancing at each other using the mirrors in the room. Even the tiny breakfast you had ordered through room service hadn’t been enough to make you speak to each other.
“Come here,” you said, as Wooseok opened the door of the room, the ceremony was starting in half an hour and you decided to go down already to find your seats.
“What?”
“Your tie is sideways,” you explained, already extending your arms to fix it. Wooseok swallowed hard as your hands snaked around the collar of his shirt. “I’ve heard them too, you know?”
“Huh?” Wooseok frowned, searching for your eyes as you continued to re-do his tie.
“They’re saying we’re a couple, per usual. I didn’t think it would bother you that much.” you explained, patting his chest a couple times as you finished your task.
“It- it doesn’t bother—”
“It’s fine, Wooseok. If it’s awkward for you, we can just find someone else to hang out with tonight. Though I’m not sure how we’re going to go about the room.”
“Does it bother you?” he questioned, closing the door again and making you walk to the center of the room.
“It happens way too often for me to be annoyed by it,” you shrugged, looking at him. “Why?”
“Because it doesn’t bother me. At all. In fact, I love it every time someone says we’re a couple.” he had no idea of how he hadn’t even stuttered, but there it was, the beginning of a confesion.
“What?”
“Have you ever thought about us as that? More than friends.”
“I guess I have...” you murmured, catching your lower lip between your teeth. You had, time and time again. “I never thought you would like that, though.”
“Well I would. I’m in love with you, I have been for a while.” Wooseok hadn’t pictured letting his feelings out in the middle of a hotel room, but at least he’d done it. And he knew you well enough to be sure you didn’t mind where it happened, as long as it happened.
You grabbed his hand, a wide smile on your lips. “I’m in love with you too.”
“How is it everyone knew except the two of us?” you asked with a chuckle, your arms around Wooseok’s neck as you swayed around the dance floor, slightly off rhythm.
“I don’t want to ask them, they’ll make fun of us.” he grumbled, eyeing Kino and Changgu, who were sending finger hearts your way.
The shift between you two had been seamless, of course, it had only been a few hours since your mutual confession. But it was like you’d turned a switch in your friends’ eyes, they couldn’t stop commenting on how ‘it finally happened’ and playfully teasing you about it.
You kissed Wooseok’s cheek softly as the song ended, feeling his face warm up as your lips remained against it. “Are you blushing?”
“No,” he whispered, reaching for your hand. “Maybe a little bit.”
“Good.” you teased, squeezing his fingers. “Should we go upstairs already?”
“If you want to,” Wooseok nodded.
You commented on the wedding as you got out of your attire. Wooseok being the last one to get in the bathroom to change as you fixed the bed for both of you.
Wooseok was still nervous about sleeping next to you, how was he supposed to act? But as you snuggled up to him, your nose touching the crook of his neck. He knew he had nothing to worry about.
“Good night,” you muttered, your voice already filled with sleep.
“Good night, y/n.” Wooseok replied, feeling a sort of happiness he hadn’t felt before. He was in love with you, and he was lucky enough that you returned his feelings.

DO or NOT (M)
“Come on, I’ll be a good boyfriend, I promise” he got up and reached his hand for you
“What are you doing?” you look at his hands, then at his face.
"Let's fix your mess, baby" he smiled proudly.
→ Pairing: Wooseok x Female Reader
→ Genre: Smut; Fluff; To All The Boys I've Loved Before AU

→ A/n: Look at that word count, guys! We are so happy to finally put this story out there for you guys, we hope you all like it! Thank you for your kindness and patient, and special thanks to the non who requested this story!
It was all a misunderstanding, yet you felt like you could never leave your room ever again. It was your dream to get into art school and finish your major in fine arts with honors, and right now you felt like you had ruined it forever.
It started with a literature class project, in which you had to explore the genre of letters, and you combined it with your passion for romance novels, and you took a little inspiration from your real life. You wrote letters for every boy you’ve ever had a crush on since college started. It wasn’t necessarily big crushes - Jinho from the school choir, for example, you just find it beautiful when he sings his solos; or Changgu from the Swimming team, that is just stupidly hot. They didn’t necessarily mean you had feelings for those boys, you actually exaggerated most of them for the purpose of the assignment. They were just romanticized words to sound like something out of a Jane Austen Novel.
You had no problem doing the project, you actually enjoyed sitting alone for hours fantasizing about different romantic scenarios, but you were very grounded about all of that. The real problem was that somehow the letters, meant to only be seen by your professor, ended up mixed with your actual mail, and they were delivered to each boy you had addressed the letter to.
That was it, that was the end of you.
The real problem was when your ex-boyfriend Hongseok showed up with the distinguished turquoise envelope in hand, waiting for you before your first class started. You spotted the letter in his hand as soon as you saw him, and you wanted to run away as fast as you could.
Luckily, you had seen him before he saw you, and you just wanted to take the opportunity to flee, however, skipping class was absolutely no deal when this lecture was very important for the midterms, and the teacher had warned it beforehand. You couldn’t risk your graduation with honors over ex-boyfriend problems. Your mind was racing at a thousand miles per hour, and the best plan you could come up with was to hide in the restroom until he left, and get in the class just a few minutes late.
You turned around abruptly, intending to leave as fast as you could, but you failed to give the first step, instead of bumping into someone and sending your books to the floor with a loud thump. So much for not wanting to drag Hongseok’s attention, you thought. His eyes were on you, and he was about to walk towards you.
In panic mode, you grabbed the boy you have bumped into and told him loud enough for everyone around to hear
“Finally, baby!” your voice was ridiculously high pitched “there you are, I was about to walk into class without you, the professor is waiting!” you planted a peck on his lips, lingering it enough for hopefully Hongseok to see it.
Wooseok widened his eyes at your very off-character actions. After the kiss, you hugged him and whispered in his ear.
“Please, play along” you sounded desperate
Wooseok was a guy you met in your first year of art school. You met at a party and eventually stumbled onto each other again around campus. And yes, Wooseok was a recipient of one of your letters, but in the fight or flight situation, it was better to deal with him than with an ex.
“Let’s go, baby ” he complied, smirking at the fake pet name, and holding your waist as you walked into class together.
Hongseok, who had watched everything, stood still in his place, swallowing thickly when you walked past him in Wooseok’s arm, acknowledging him only with an impersonal nod.
You released yourself from Wooseok’s embrace and rushed to your seat, throwing yourself in the chair with a sigh of relief.
“So, Y/N, I got your letter” Wooseok approached swiftly, being all his flirty self, taking a seat beside you.
“Don’t flatter yourself, it’s not real” You rolled your eyes.
Wooseok is full of it.
“Yeah, sure. Don’t be embarrassed, everyone has a crush on me” he said proudly. “Plus, you just kissed me, that was real af.”
You didn’t even respond, opting instead for paying attention in the lecture and taking notes.
“I’ll explain better later, ok? I’m busy now.” You finally said when he didn’t stop staring at you.
He was annoyed at the lack of attention he was getting, and at first, you didn’t get why he was raising his hand
“Excuse me, professor, I’m so sorry to interrupt, but she’s not feeling well, can I take her to the infirmary?”
Your eyes widened when you saw him pointing at you. The whole class turned around to look at you, and your face was immediately red.
“What are you doing?!” you whispered to him.
“Making sure you’re not busy.” he whispered back.
The professor allowed - this boy got everything he wanted, you swear - on the condition that you would have to get the notes with someone later to catch up.
You silently left the room, with him following close behind. You made sure you were distant enough from the classroom before turning around to talk to Wooseok
“I can’t believe you did this!”
“At least now we can talk” he shrugged and opened a charming smile. “Don’t worry, I’ll ask someone later for the notes, you know he’s a nerd.”
Wooseok has always been the popular kid, knows everyone, and gets everything he wants. To be fair, he had all the charm and charisma for it, and it was easy to fall into his spell. Overall he was a nice person, just too cocky sometimes. He ended up being the subject of one of your letters because he had once helped you with a photography class. He is a music major and sometimes he performs at local bars and clubs for the rap scene, and he told you that you could photograph his performances. You scored a 10 and owed him forever, and in the end, you just had to admit that seeing him performing his own songs with so much presence and passion got you a tiny crush.
But it was nothing more than that, just a momentaneous crush, that ended as fast as it began.
Wooseok pulled out of his pocket your letter, the unmistakable golden ink in your calligraphy sparkling in the hallway lights. He waved it around and wiggled his eyebrows.
“Give that back!” you jumped at him, trying to snatch the letter from his hands.
He easily dodged you, lifting his arm and making it impossible for you to reach it.
“Ah-ah” he stopped you “first you have to admit you have a crush on me.”
“I have shit for you, Jung Wooseok” you couldn’t help but roll your eyes again.
“It’s not what you wrote here.” He smirked again.
“I’ll explain that to you, okay?” you admit defeat, sighing in annoyance this time “just not here, where someone may hear it and laugh at my misery.”
Wooseok chuckled, but complied, following you to the front yard and sitting down on a bench. The campus was empty, most students busy with their classes, so the peace and quiet were rather enjoyable. What was not pleasant is having to explain all the romantic words directed to the boy in front of you.
You were straightforward and told him about the lit class project, and about you finding him attractive after watching him perform.
“But that’s just it” you finished “it was just all drama and poetry for class, that’s all.”
Wooseok, who had listened to you rant suspiciously quietly, just nodded, but you could tell something was still on his mind.
“That doesn’t explain why you jumped me in the hall.” his lips curved wickedly.
You sighed one more time, laughing to yourself at how it was becoming your signature movement.
“Do you know Yang Hongseok?” you asked
“Yeah, we share a few classes.” he nodded
“And do you know he’s my ex?” your voice died down in embarrassment.
“I do, I remember seeing you two around together.” he shrugged.
“He got a letter,” you admitted as fast as you could, just to get this over with.
Wooseok busted out laughing, his loud voice echoing through the empty place.
“You, Y/F/N, are the dumbest person I’ve ever met.” he cleaned a few tears in the corner of his eyes. Without thinking twice, you punched his arm. “Ouch! That hurts!”
“Don’t make fun of me! That’s really embarrassing!” you groaned and hid your face in your palms
“Come on, you gotta admit it’s funny” he patted your back to comfort you, but his giggles were far from soothing. “Who else got a letter?”
“So many people, I hate myself.” you muffled your words against your hand.
“Who? I can help you find them and make everything clear. I can even pretend to be your boyfriend again, so they don’t think you’re in love with them.”
“Ok, fine” you sat up straight, but not having the guts to look at him while you spilled your most embarrassing secrets. “There’s Adachi Yuto, from the baseball team.”
“Okay, that’s easy, he lives with me. Who else?”
“Lee Hwitaek”
“The President of The School Council?! You’re such a dork”
“Yan An and Ko Shinwon, but they are my best friends."
"I'm gonna pretend that's not weird but ok" he shrugged "it will be easy to clear things up, then"
"Yeo Changgu, Kang Hyunggu, and Jo Jinho” you said it in one breath, mumbling through your teeth
Wooseok’s eyes widened, and he blinked in silence for a couple of seconds, processing the information dump.
“Y/N, you’re a player!” he made fun of you, bumping your shoulders “Lucky you, I know them all, we can clear things up easily.”
“You don’t have to pretend to date me, though”
“And how will you explain things to Hongseok without sounding like you are still obsessed with your ex?” he puffed his chest like he made the wisest observation.
You just groaned and buried your face again on your palms.
“Come on, I’ll be a good boyfriend, I promise” he got up and reached his hand for you
“What are you doing?” you look at his hands, then at his face.
"Let's fix your mess, baby" he smiled proudly.
You just shook your head and got up, taking his hand and he led the way. He didn't let go of you once you were up, and his big hand wrapped around yours made you feel tiny and giddy.
"Ok, where do we go first?" He asked
"Shinwon and Yanan have already seen it, I told them about the letter when I first wrote it, so they are cool with it." You said.
"You had a crush on both of your friends, man" He almost yelled, "really, you got game."
"I told you it's not a crush!" You whined, "they are just people that inspired me, it was easy to write from reference."
"Sure" he teased, squeezing your hand "the swim team is practicing right now, so we might catch Changgu when he's done."
You nodded and let him lead you to the pool.
Wooseok found his way there quickly, and the coach spotted him as soon as he opened the door.
"Hey, Jung" he yelled, "here to reconsider my offer to join the team?"
"Not today, old man" Wooseok shook his hand and they tapped each other on the shoulder, but you were really shocked at the way he spoke freely with a member of the academia. "I'm just here because my girlfriend needs to talk to one of your boys, is Changgu here?"
"You're his girlfriend?" The coach asked you, looking surprised.
You froze in place until Wooseok gave you an encouraging nod.
"Yeah, I guess" was all you managed to say, your cheeks burning hot.
"Man, it beats me how this prick gets pretty girls to like him," he said with a loud laugh, which you played along. "Don't hesitate to smack him in the head if he starts to annoy you, he probably deserves it."
"Will do, sir" you chuckled shyly
"Changgu will be free when the practice is done, but you can wait in the bleachers meanwhile."
"Thank you, Mr. Kim." You said after spotting his name embroidered on his polo shirt.
"See you around, kiddo." He said to Wooseok "the offer is still up whenever you reconsider."
"Thanks!" Wooseok said before holding your hand and guiding you two to your seat.
Once settled in place, he threw one arm around you cockily, acting like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Why do you talk to the coach like that?" You finally asked, feeling tiny in his hold
"I don't know, he's a cool guy" he shrugged, dismissing your shock
"You really do get away with everything, don't you?" You shook your head
"That's the perk of having my endless charm" he puffed his chest, smirking sideways "everyone fall for it"
You could only scoff in response.
"By the way" he continued "you do know Kino is gay, right?"
"Who's Kino?" You asked confused
"Hyunggu."
"Oh." You blinked "yeah, right, totally."
You didn't.
"Why did you tell the coach I am your girlfriend?" You questioned
"Well, if you are going to lie, lie to everybody. That way only you know the truth, so your cover won't blow."
"Seems like you lie a lot, Jung Wooseok" you arched one eyebrow.
"And you don't, Mrs goodie-two-shoes?" He mocked.
"I do not, why would I lie?" You answered.
Wooseok tightened his hold on you, not letting you back away when he leaned his face closer to yours, looking you in the eyes and licking his lips.
"So that means everything you wrote to me was true" his voice dropped a couple of octaves.
The proximity and the vibration of his deep tone made you freeze in his arms, searching for words to refute his argument.
"That was not lying," you turned your face to avoid falling for his inevitable body language eloquence "that was a poetic license, it's different."
"Yeah, right" he scoffed, leaning away from you." you're cute when you're lying."
"I'm not lying!" You protested. "And I'm not cute" you mumbled the last part.
The rest of the period was spent in silence, Wooseok stopped taunting you and paid attention to his phone while you watched the athletes in the pool.
Changgu was easy to spot, his toned figure standing out from his teammates, as well as his perfect timing every lap, and seeing him made you remember why he was an easy subject to write about. You two know each other because you went to one of Shinwon's soccer team parties, and of course, every varsity athlete was there. He was the one who initiated contact, and the flirting led to a hookup, but nothing else has ever happened between you two.
Which makes the fact that he received a love letter from you very awkward. But it was something you had to inevitably face, so be as it may.
When practice was over, Wooseok motioned to get up, but you stopped him.
"I think it's better if less than one person watches me embarrassing myself." You pleaded.
You waited by the locker room door for him, and to your despair, he crossed the door along with his teammates. So much for discretion. They walked past you, not noticing your presence, too distracted in their conversation. You stepped up and taped Changgu’s shoulder, making him turn on his heels to see you.
“Hi,” you said shyly “Can I talk to you for a second?”
“Of course” he smiled at you after dismissing his colleagues, who left only after giggling and teasing you
“So, I don’t know how to begin to explain this, but-” you started to explain but he cut you off.
“Is this about the letter I got this morning?” His expression was smug.
“Yeah, it is” you sighed “but you see, that was not what I seemed. I didn’t mean any of that, it was only for a project of my lit class and-” you were fidgeting with your fingers when he interrupted you again
“So you mean I don’t have an Adonis body sculpted by the most benevolent of the gods?” his smirk only grew wider
You fought the urge to facepalm, but your words got caught up in your throat
“I’m just messing with you” he laughed softly “But I am flattered. I just don’t see you that way-”
“No, no!” it was your turn to interrupt “I’m not in love with you or anything creepy, in fact, my boyfriend is right there waiting for me” you pointed to Wooseok, who waited for you a few meters behind “He even knows about this whole mess and is cool with it.”
“You’re dating Wooseok?” he asked, surprised.
“Yeah” you hesitantly affirmed, “But as I was saying, this was a project for my literature class and it is completely exaggerated and over the top, so don’t take it too seriously, ok?”
“I see,” he nodded “but I’m not gonna lie, I liked reading that.”
A charming smile lit upon his face, much like the ones he flashed you when you two met.
“Thank you” you felt flustered at the random compliment.
“see you around, then, Y/N”
You said goodbye and watched him leave, catching up with his friends at the end of the hall, and it was only then that Wooseok approached you
“So, how was it?” he asked enthusiastically
“Surprisingly easy,” you said, smiling to yourself “definitely less embarrassing than I thought it would be. Though he seemed to roll with it easier when I said you were my boyfriend”
“Told you it was a good plan” he bragged “ready for another one?”
“Yes,” you nodded enthusiastically, the success of the first talk encouraging you.
“Great, ‘cause Kino is coming” he pointed
“Already?!” you turned around to see the boy walking towards you
“You can do this, let’s go” Wooseok held your hand and pulled you over to meet Kino halfway
“Hey, guys,” Kino said when you met
“What’s up” Wooseok casually reached his hand for him, who made this weird personal high five thing.
“You two know each other?” you asked, looking between them.
“Yeah, we share a bunch of classes” Kino was the one that answered “But I actually wanted to talk to you”
“The letter, I know” you sighed “I’m sorry, that was a little creepy, I know, but it was just some writing for my lit class, I swear they are not literal”
“It’s fine, I really enjoyed it. You’re a great writer.” His soft voice was actually soothing.
“Oh,” you definitely weren’t expecting that. “Thank you”
“Why me, though?” he asked, “you do know I’m gay, right?”
“Yeah, of course.” you lied, remembering how you just found out not even an hour ago “it’s just that I remember when we were friends in high school, I had a lot of good memories and it was easy to write about that.”
Wooseok watched you attentively, your hand still securely clasped inside his, which gave you a surprising calming feeling.
“I’m really flattered, that’s amazing. Do you mind if I keep it? The letter?” Kino asked
“I guess not” you answered with a little bit of confusion as to why he wanted that, but it was easier to just comply.
“Thank you” he smiled gratefully “Let’s keep in touch, yes?”
“Of course!” you felt happy at the proposal, reviving an old friendship is always a good thing “thank you for being so nice about this.”
“Don’t worry” he answered. “I’ll see you two around then. By the way, you guys are a cute couple”
“Thanks, man” it was Wooseok who answered when you choked “see ya”
Kino walked away and Wooseok led you two once again.
“That wasn’t so bad,” he said once you two were alone again
“Not at all,” you answered “I’m surprised how easy this has been. Thank you so much for helping me, really”
“Nah, this is fun, you don’t have to thank me” he shrugged “by the way, I already cleared things with Yuto”
“You did?” When?” You looked at him in surprise
“During swimming practice, I texted him, it was easy because he hadn’t even read it yet. I told him it was something private that was mailed by accident, he said he will return it.”
“You’re an angel, really” you stopped in your tracks and hugged him, feeling truly grateful and relieved.
Wooseok knew how to find Jinho because they also shared classes, and you were suddenly aware how much you easily had crushes on singers and performers, but that was an issue for you to ponder over later. Jinho was overall understanding, but it was significantly more awkward because you’ve never properly talked to each other.
“See it as a fan mail” you tried to explain “I just really enjoy watching you singing, you’re really talented”
The last one you had to find was Hwitaek, or Hui, as he asked to be called when you two first met, and you knew that the student council met that day so it was easy to find your way into the auditorium where they gathered.
You entered the place quietly and watched as they discussed some campus issues.
"You didn't tell me Hongseok was part of the student council," Wooseok whispered to you, sliding one hand around your shoulder, the action becoming natural to him
"Yup." You gulped "why do you think I came here last?"
"Hey" he called you, placing both hands on your shoulder, turning you to face him, and staring you in the eyes. "It will be fine, don't worry"
You took a deep breath, smiling at him in gratitude.
Before you could register anything else, Wooseok pulled you closer, one hand in your neck and the other in your waist, arching your body so your lips could meet his.
His kiss was intense, and your body responded to him in a reflex. You embraced his neck, hands digging into his shaggy hair. The way your tongues danced together in perfect synch made you sigh into the kiss, and Wooseok pulled you even closer. For a second you forgot where you were and what you were there for, and the world became a bubble that only you and he existed in, and you just allowed yourself to live in that limited fantasy.
When you two pulled away, you were out of breath, knocked out of reality. Wooseok still held you in his embrace when a lopsided smirk stretched on his lips.
"Hongseok spotted you" his low voice vibrated on his chest that was flushed against yours.
"Oh" you muttered, feeling your cheeks grow red "right"
You cleared your throat and stepped back, releasing yourself from him for the second time that day.
Wooseok found your hand again and pulled you to the last row of chairs where you two sat quietly until the meeting was over. Every time you tried to come up with something to say you ran out of words, still too embarrassed for all that went on when you were kissing him. He, on the other hand, didn’t seem to be troubled at all.
Coming clean to Hui was easy, especially because he was in the same class, writing for that project himself. However he was very shy about it, but having Wooseok casually throwing one possessive arm around your shoulder could be quite intimidating. In the end, he didn’t say much, mostly just agreeing and nodding to whatever you said, but never once he was less than nice to you.
"Okay, now there's only Hongseok left," Wooseok said when Hui left, making you gulp loudly. He still held you in his sideways embrace "but we have a problem."
"What is it now?" You said, feeling mentally exhausted already.
Wooseok pointed and you looked just in time to see Hongseok closing the door behind him.
"He didn't wait for you" he punctuated.
"Oh, come on" your shoulder slumped
"It's fine, we can get him tomorrow." Wooseok tried to encourage you
"But tomorrow Saturday, and I don't really know his schedule to meet him on Monday" The defeat seeped through your voice "Besides, I don't want to take any more of your time"
"Nah, it's fine" he shrugged "You're a good fake girlfriend"
You didn't understand why you took that as praise, but the butterflies in your stomach did not hide the fact that you liked what he said.
"Let me at least pay you lunch for all the trouble." You proposed.
"I take it back, you're the best fake girlfriend" he smiled.
…
"This restaurant is so good, oh my God." He said, munching on his food while you had already finished yours. "you should take me out more, Y/N"
"Why didn't we hang out more?" You questioned, "we had so much fun when I photographed you."
"Right? I remember that I liked having you around after my gigs"
"We actually kept in touch after that, because I remember seeing you around campus and talking to you. Why did we stop talking, though?"
"Right, I remember" Wooseok deflated
"What?" You asked when his smile turned awkward "did I do something wrong?"
"No, actually not." He scratched his neck "We lost touch when you started dating Hongseok. He seemed very possessive of you, and I thought he would get jealous if we talked."
"That's nonsense," you said genuinely surprised, trying to remember what it was like, but you two broke up last year and your memory was kind of blurry.
"Oh, come on, he used to parade you around like a trophy, no one had the guts to get near you." He rolled his eyes.
"What an asshole" you blurted, frowning.
Wooseok's thunderous laugh echoed around the place, causing a couple of dirty looks at your table.
"That was adorable" he cleaned a tear at the corner of his eye.
"No, I mean it. He shouldn't act like I belong to him and keep people from talking to me."
"No, he didn't stop anyone." He tried to explain "it was just the energy, that's all"
"He was a good boyfriend.." you reminisced
"...but?" Wooseok encouraged you to continue
"No buts, really."
"Is it invasive if I ask why you two broke up?" His tone was cautious
"Wooseok, don't you know the foundation of a relationship?" You joked "how do you want to be my fake boyfriend if you don't think I can share my love failures with you?"
"My bad, I didn't know fake relationships had rules too." He held his hands up in defense and you laughed fondly at him.
"Anyway, we broke up because we wanted different things." You shrugged "I guess I just wanted to do my thing without being just 'Hongseok's girlfriend', you know?"
"I see" he nodded.
"You shouldn't be afraid to talk to me, silly" you softly flickered his forehead across the table.
"That was rude, how dare you" he acted offended, making you giggle.
"Next time I'm dating someone you have the obligation of keeping in touch with me" you huffed
"I wouldn't worry about that" He opened a sheepish grin
"Why's that?" You raised your eyebrow suspiciously, resting your elbow on the table to support your chin on the palm of your hand.
"Because right now you are my girlfriend" he leaned back on his seat, eyeing you up and down.
You let out a breathy chuckle, shaking your head.
"Yeah, sorry, you're stuck with me for now," you said half-heartedly, feeling guilty for bringing him into your problems.
"Nah, I'm having fun." He shrugged "But you'll have to do something for me."
"Shoot. I owe you big time, can't say no."
"I'm throwing a party tomorrow, half of the campus will be there."
"Why am I not surprised?" You remembered how popular he actually is.
"You'll have to be there." He used puppy eyes to convince you
"No way, Wooseok." You rolled your eyes "I don't know anyone there."
“Hongseok will probably be there, though” he argued “so you can get this over with”
You quietly ponder over your options.
"Fine." You concluded, "It's better to get this over with anyway."
"Great, I'll text you the details later."
You sighed, massaging your temples to uselessly try to soothe your stress.
…
Wooseok's house was crowded when you got there, and the music could be heard from a block away. You crossed the front yard, which was full of people too, and you were sure that student housing has some norms against this type of agglomeration, but then again, Wooseok gets away with anything.
You briefly stopped at the door, just to text him, letting him know that you arrived, and quickly let yourself in. The music was even louder inside, the vibrations of the heavy bass trembling all over your body. Indeed, half of the campus was there, red solo cups in hand and bodies moving to the rhythm of the music.
The fact that you were alone made you feel suddenly shy, and you shrink into yourself to try to make your way through the house. It was a struggle to the wall around the party, but the sooner you found Wooseok the better.
Your best bet was the kitchen, and after walking a little while you found your way there. It was significantly emptier, but still no sign of your friend anywhere. Turning on your heels, you tried to leave and search for him somewhere else, but instead, you stumbled onto someone.
"Oh, I'm sorry" you immediately said
"Y/N?"
Of course, it had to be him
"Oh" you gulped "Hongseok, hi"
He smiled at you, and you two stared at each other in silence for a couple of seconds.
"I've been meaning to talk to you." He said, and you could feel your whole body freezing.
"Yeah, I've been trying to reach you too. There's something I need to explain." You ran your hands through your hair, nervously fidgeting with it.
"Can we go somewhere quieter?" He proposed and you nodded, following him to the front porch.
On the way, you heard your name being shouted over the loud music, and soon enough Wooseok was right behind you.
"Hey, you made it!" He greeted you cheerfully, but his smile dropped when he saw Hongseok with you "is everything okay?"
He asked looking into your eyes, a line of concern creasing his forehead, and his hand immediately found yours.
"Yeah, it's fine, don't worry." You gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Anything happens and you can call me, ok? I'll hold on to my phone" He waited for you to nod in agreement and it was almost mindlessly the way he lingered a peck on your lips.
And his action wasn't as surprising to you as the way you reciprocated automatically, already used to Wooseok's touch.
You also didn't miss the way Hongseok turned his face when he saw you two together.
Once you two got alone outside, he was the first to speak.
"So you and Wooseok are a thing now?" His tone was careful
"Yeah" you didn't know what else to say.
"How long has that been going on?"
"It's been some time" you were never a good liar, and Hongseok's presence somehow made you feel insecure.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to pry." He backed away, clearing his throat "I was just curious."
Everything went quiet again, but the anxiety was weighing too much for you to just wait in silence.
"You’re here to talk about the letter, right?" You finally mentioned the big elephant in the room.
"Yes, I was surprised to see that." He chuckled emotionlessly. "Did you mean all those things you said?"
You frowned to yourself, trying to remember exactly what you had written to him. You remember talking about craving the feeling of being safe in his arms and him reciting your body like poetry. Something passion and desire burning like twin flames. Everything was a little scrambled but you had gotten the gist.
"Yes and no." You concluded, but he only tilted his head in confusion. "Once I may have meant everything I said. I did this for a romantic literature assignment and writing about you was easy because I didn't have to come up with lies. I just revisited some feelings kept deep inside."
"I can't lie to you, Y/N, I-" he chimed in, and it was ironic to see the eloquent member of the student council stumbling onto his words "when I first read your letter it was… it brought me back in time, you know?" His hand found its way to yours, which rested on the balustrade.
He held onto you like he was pleading for mutuality.
"I really liked having you by my side and seeing what you said got me wondering what would have happened if I hadn't let you go."
"Hongseok, I-I don't even know what to say." You felt a tornado inside your head.
"Haven't you ever thought about that? I mean, you wrote that to me, that you think of me." He stepped closer to you, bringing your hands up to his chest.
"Hongseok, it's not that simple." Your gaze strayed from him
"Yeah, no, you're right." He finally let go of you, shaking his head. "What was I thinking, you have a boyfriend now."
You didn't miss the shift of his tone at the word boyfriend, and knowing Hongseok as you did, you knew that he actually meant to say 'I'm better than him
"Do you remember why we broke up?" You asked him.
"I remember we wanted different things." He pointed.
"It's not quite like that" your words were soft-spoken "I wanted something different. I wanted to do my own thing, but in your life, there was no room for another person."
Hongseok didn’t answer, so you continued
"I have not been dating Wooseok for so long," you finally looked directly into his eyes again "but he supported me so much more than you ever did. He makes time for me and he takes care of me in his own way."
"I'm sorry, Y/N, I was so stupid." Hongseok lowered his head.
You reached your palm and cupped his cheek, making him look at you.
"You were never a bad boyfriend." You caressed his smooth skin with your thumb "we're just not meant for each other. One day you will find someone that fits into your life perfectly, and that letter that I sent you will be in your past like it is for me."
You inched closer and planted a soft kiss on his cheeks.
"I'll see you around, Hongseok"
Turning around, you let out the breath you hadn't noticed you were holding, and you let the loud music engulf you as you entered back to the party.
You felt yourself shaking from the anxiety of what you just went through, and it was so hard to process that Hongseok asked to get back together, that your head was spinning a little, but when it came down to it, you felt proud of yourself for the way you handled it.
You wandered around the party not really sure what to do until you spotted Wooseok amongst his friends. He had his back turned to you, and you fonded at the way he kept his phone in hand, truly waiting for you in case you texted.
He truly was the life of the party, everyone surrounding him laughing at something he said while he gesticulated big, telling a story eloquently. You felt shy to just approach him while he was the center of attention, but you couldn't wait to celebrate with him.
Slowly you reached up and gave his shoulder a soft pat, and his lips curved into a smile upon seeing you. He stopped everything he was doing and his arm automatically rested across your shoulders, pulling you closer to him.
"Hey," he said so softly that you were sure only you could hear. His doe eyes stared at you and you felt at ease. "Are you alright?"
You bit your bottom lip and curved the corners into a shy smile, nodding a silent yes to his question, to which he responded by snuggling you closer to him.
"What happened? Tell me everything." He asked excitedly. You told how things went and how you handled it, and he gasped in surprise "Holy shit, I was not expecting that from Hongseok. But I mean, it's obvious where he's coming from, he's not dumb."
He shrugged nonchalantly, but you stared at him trying to figure out what he meant.
"Anyway" he trailed before you could ask anything "I'm gonna get us some drinks to celebrate, stay here."
You nodded again, feeling tiny due to the way he had to crouch down to look you in the eyes and ask you to not move places so he doesn't lose you.
You fidget with the hem of your shirt, looking around and basking in the party environment, the people around you having fun and the music moving them, it was pleasant and it all contributed to the feeling of happiness warming up your insides. It might also have something to do with your company for the night, but you weren't sure if you were ready to admit that just yet.
You were taken out of your head when you heard someone calling your name.
"So you're the notorious Y/N" Yuto stood by your side, his deep voice almost startling you. "It's nice to put a face to the name."
"Yeah, I don't think we've been introduced, right? Nice to meet you" you said politely, and surprisingly confident, the latest occurrences giving you an extra boost.
"Wooseok asked me to give this back to you." He took your letter out of his pocket and handed it to you, still sealed for your relief.
"Thank you so much" you took it, shoving it in your purse as fast as you could.
"In fact," he continued "he hasn't shut up about you, it's almost annoying." He chuckled sweetly.
"Really?" You involuntarily smiled, and awfully aware of the way butterflies danced around your stomach upon hearing that.
"I didn't know you were dating, but he seems really excited to be around you lately, so it's good to see you two together." He offered a kind smile in return
"Stop scaring my girlfriend, dude" Wooseok chimed in, handing you a red solo cup and back to his usual hold on you, so casually that you were almost getting used to it. Almost.
"If she's dating you, I'm pretty sure she doesn't scare easily." Yuto snaked a reply while leaving you and Wooseok alone again
"So," Wooseok said, "Wanna go dance?"
"Oh, no, no." You waved defensively "I would just embarrass the both of us"
"Don't be silly, it will be fun, let's go" he grabbed your hand and guided you two through the crowd, finding a good spot.
It was amazing to watch him dance freely and just enjoy himself while you mostly opted to move your knees and bounce yourself, keeping it low-key while sipping on your drink.
It took you back to thinking about why you first chose him to write about.
You admired Wooseok's laid-back attitude and over-the-top confidence. He had this charm that it was annoyingly attractive, and all of that just being his genuine self. And after everything he's done for you, although it could not seem much, at first sight, was a crucial part of why you made it through.
You didn't lie to Hongseok when you said those things about Wooseok, and all of that just made you want to get closer to him, even with this crazy fake boyfriend story in the middle, in a couple of days he gave you a better relationship than the ones you have had. You might be wrong and that was just because you haven't spent enough time with him, but still it felt so genuine that you wondered how the real thing would work.
"You're in your head again, aren't you?" Wooseok waved his hand in front of you.
"Sorry" you shook your head trying to get rid of those thoughts, giggling shyly.
"Come on, have some fun with me, or people will think I'm a terrible boyfriend," he said without faltering his serious expression, but you let out a soft laugh
He held both of your hands and waved them around in the rhythm of the music. It was fantastic how he got you to loosen up and soon enough you were dancing and jumping around, yelling the lyrics at each other, and it was easy to forget about your surroundings when you could just focus on having fun with him.
He had your attention the same way you had his. He didn’t mind ditching his friends for the night if he was spending time with you, and seeing you having fun so freely was the most precious thing, especially when you sang together with him with a big smile spread on your face, which was extremely hard for him to keep his eyes off.
And when you noticed his gaze falling to your lips, you couldn’t help but to do the same to him, and you just gravitate towards each other, his hands dinging your waist and pulling you closer, and suddenly you two weren’t jumping around anymore, and both of your moves slowed down to fit your bodies together, now moving in synch against each other. His eyes searched your for reassurance, trying to find any sign that he was crossing a line, but when he found you so focused on his own lips and you slowly leaning towards him, he didn’t think twice about ending the distance between you, capturing you in a kiss that he’s been dying to feel since the minute he first spotted you in the party.
He kissed you before, and it was a surprise to you, but maybe because now he saw you reciprocating it before it even began, it just hit differently when your soft lips met his, and he was glad the loud music muffled the sound of the sigh of satisfaction that escaped him. The kiss was slow like you were just savoring each other, and your thumbs caressing his cheeks made him feel like melting under your touch.
The closer you felt the closer you wanted to get, and when you just had to pull always for air, your foreheads touched and your feet just kept on dancing, giggling to each other like two teenagers who had their first kiss, and your need to feel it again excited you to an unfamiliar degree.
The acquaintanceship with it came naturally, and the night passed too fast for your liking. The songs started to slow down, the conversations became hushed and the house was getting emptier and emptier.
You and Wooseok found the couch empty and threw yourselves down, you resting your head on his shoulders as he cuddled you closer.
"How do you feel now that you're free of the whole letters' odyssey?" He asked, running his hand through his hair, letting the strands fall back into place, beautifully framing his face.
"It's so fucking relieving" you sighed "Thank you so much for putting up with all of that."
"Eh, it's been fun" he shrugged trying to act nonchalant, but the smirk on his face said otherwise
"Well, at least now you're free of your fake girlfriend and can go back to charming every other girl on campus." You joked, but you couldn't help but feel a little disappointed at that realizations
Wooseok laughed and shook his head.
"Jeez," He leaned closer, looking you in the eyes with noses almost bumping "You're the densest person I've ever met"
"Hey! That's not true!" You protested, turning your face around, and he nuzzled the sweet spot on your neck, just under your earlobe.
"Stay the night?" He asked in a low voice that vibrated close to your ear, only for you to hear, and followed with a feathery kiss on your cheek. You closed your eyes, enjoying his touch while it lingered, to only then look at him and nod, and his grin at your response made you shiver in anticipation.
He got up and reached his hand for you to take it, which you gladly accepted, and he led you away from the party, turning into a corridor where everything was already quiet, finishing his path in through a door down the hall.
Entering the room, you recognize unmistakable as his. There was just something about the messy stack of papers on the desk next to a chunky headphone, the hip hop posters on the wall and the black comforters that screamed ‘Wooseok’. He gently took your purse, which you were clinging to because you just didn’t know what to do with yourself anymore, every step into the room making your stomach freeze with expectation, and he placed it on the desk.
“Sorry it’s a little messy” he sat on the edge of the bed, leaning his weight in his hands that rested on the soft mattress, and his voice sounded soft, hushing the words like it was a secret between the two of you.
“It’s ok” you walked closer to him, looking around trying to capture every small unique detail. “It’s cozy” you concluded as you stood in between his spread legs.
Wooseok leaned back and laced his hands around your back, slowly climbing their way up inside your shirt, the skin contact making goosebumps rise on your skin and you gasp softly. When he pulled you closer you climbed up the bed, straddling him until your chests were pressed together, and you intertwined your fingers in his hair, initiating the kiss yourself this time.
You felt Wooseok's shoulder relax as your lips touched, and neither of you felt the need to rush things. His tongue asked for passage and when you let him your body felt ecstatic, just like it happened when you kissed on the dance floor. Something about kissing Wooseok felt at the same time familiar and exhilarating.
And it wasn't the first time you were kissing, but you were just as excited. His fingertips grazed along the line of your spine slowly, like he was trying to memorize the curve of your back while you were pressed against him. When he had to pull away for air, he just couldn't keep away from you and trailed kisses down your jawline and neck.
"This is going pretty far for a fake relationship." You teased, tugging his hair just the slightest.
"Don't ruin this" he shushed you, and you giggled "just enjoy it."
He held onto your waist and squeezed your sides while sucking a spot on your neck, making you hiss in pleasure, and you involuntarily grinded down on his lap. Immediately you felt him grinning against your skin.
He felt bolder after your response to him and dared to raise his touch on you, hiking up your shirt as so, until you pulled back and lifted your arms, silently giving him permission to take it off of you. Once he was done with it, you tugged at the hem of his shirt, and he took it off of you.
"You are so gorgeous" he watched you with hungry eyes, and you felt yourself blushing.
As you kissed him again, avoiding having to formulate a coherent response to his praise, you felt his hands find their way up your body until they were cupping your breasts over your bra, his fingers molding against your curves as he squeezes them, and that made a breathy moan escape your lips.
Feeling desperate to just have you for him, Wooseok swiftly switched positions, making your back hit his mattress and he positioned in between your legs. Just like that, he unbuttoned your jeans and slid it off of you, his own pants following next, leaving you two in your underwear.
He eagerly leaned over you, anxious to kiss you again, and you welcomed him like two puzzle pieces fitting together, only this time you were too aware of the bulge in his underwear as he grinded in between your hips, giving you some release to the pressuring pleasure that built up with every touch of his.
Without breaking the kiss, he took your bra off, his fingers immediately finding your nipples and toying with them as you arch your back to press yourself against his touch. He only let go to have his fingers replaced with his mouth, the tongue skillfully circling around your sensitive bud.
"Wooseok" you let his name fall from your lips, to which he hummed in response
"You like that, baby?" He looked up at you, licking your nipples right after finishing his words.
You bit your bottom lip and nodded.
"Maybe it would be better if I do something else too?" One of his hands slid its way down your stomach, the tip of his fingers stopping at the hem of your panties. "Can I?"
"Yes, please" you buckled your hips against his hands, and he smirked as he lowered his hands further, reaching your wet slit.
One of his fingers ran along your pussy, spreading your wetness around your clit, making you squirm as he brushed over just the right spot.
"Fuck, Wooseok, right there" you gasped as he repeated the movement "please keep doing that."
He studied your face for a mere second, chuckling proudly before capturing your nipple in his lips again, all the stimulation bringing you heaven.
You grabbed his hair, tugging it to contain your own pleasure, and he hummed in approval to you. A knot started building up in your lower belly the more he moved, and you were already embarrassingly close.
Then you felt his touch spot, feeling it going down to your entrance instead, and two of his fingers entered you effortlessly, pumping in and out of you. He let go of your breast, leaning up and using his free hand to take off your panties.
"You look hot, shit." He praised you again "you're taking my fingers so well."
He leaned back down and kissed you roughly, lust clouding the whole room around you. When his thumb found your clitoris you gasped into the kiss, and Wooseok nibbled your lip.
"Are you going to cum for me, baby?" He whispered in your ear, and you held onto his shoulders, nails digging a little into his skin
"I'm so close" you mumbled, and he fastened his pace
"Let me see it, I bet you look beautiful when you cum. Show it to me, Y/N" he said before sucking in your nipple again.
Your body reacted to him like an order, and you closed your eyes as an orgasm took over you, making you tremble under him, moaning louder every time his finger hit the perfect spot inside you.
"Fuck" you gasped once he slid off of you, your chest rising up and down fast.
He opened his mouth to say something, but you used your weight to throw him beside you, climbing on top of his right next, and the surprised expression on his face was quickly replaced with a much naughtier one
You lowered yourself, taking his underwear off, letting his cock bounce back against his stomach.
"Do you have a condom?" You asked.
Wooseok reached for a drawer in his nightstand and tossed you a packet. You wasted no time opening the foil and taking his member into your hand, jerking it a few times, testing the right speed and pressure to just see him close his eyes and throw his head back in pleasure.
When you stopped moving, his eyes shot open and he watched you unroll the rubber down his length.
You moved upwards, your hips sitting against his, and you leaned down to kiss him again, savoring his taste unhurriedly, and he didn't hesitate to match your intensity.
You began to move your hips slowly, feeling your pussy press against his cock, putting the right amount of pressure to make him hiss in pleasure.
Continuing to move, you trailed wet kisses down his jaw and neck, sucking and biting softly the skin before running your tongue along the spot to soothe it.
"I didn't know you were such a tease" he grunted.
"I didn't know you were in a rush" you retorted, grinning at him.
"I've got all night, baby, but I'd much rather spend it inside you." He said, a hint of desperation showing through his voice.
Your chuckle died in your throat as he grabbed your hips and bucked his own, grinding the right away to press his dick against your clit, and you moaned involuntarily.
"I think you agree with me" Woosek said, smirking victoriously.
"Jerk" you slapped his chest and laughed softly.
His hand reached up and caressed your cheek while he looked at you with big fond eyes, and it felt so intimate that you were sure you were blushing.
"Don't look at me like that" you fought the urge to cover yourself.
"Why not?" He cocked his head "you look so beautiful, I just had an urge"
You leaned your body down and pressed a soft kiss to his lips
“I think this is a point of no return for us, right?” your voice barely came out, a faint whisper, afraid of the meaning they carry.
“I don’t know how many fake relationships you’ve had, but I’m pretty sure they never involve seeing each other naked, so we’re past the point of no return” Wooseok shrugged, his chest pressed against yours and his arms wrapping around you in a comforting hug. He kissed you again, and it didn’t surprise how it was just natural at this point to mold your lips together perfectly.
“Shit, you’re right” you giggled when he pulled away. “Okay, we’re doing this.”
You took a deep breath in a poor attempt to make your heart stop racing.
“We’ll be fine” Wooseok reassured, and you just nodded at him, putting all the truth you have in his words.
You sat up and reached your hand in between the two of you, aligning his member with your entrance and letting him penetrate you slowly, his gasp accompanied the rhythm of the movement.
Staying still, you gave yourself time to adjust to his size, and his thumb caressed your hips, his touch always so gentle. You finally started rocking your hips and Wooseok threw his head back in pleasure, a few whimpers escaping his lips. You remembered you two dancing together earlier, and how his eyes couldn’t leave your hips when you were dancing, and you tried to move on top of him just like that, his whimpers turning to lazy moans as you moved slowly, and you smirked proudly at the reactions you were getting from him.
Wooseok, always a brat, grabbed your hips a little stronger and used it as leverage to flip your positions, rolling easily on top of you, making you yelp in surprise, and the way he towered over you made you feel suddenly shy, chuckling at his victorious grin. He thrust slowly, picking up the pace with no rush, his eyes glued on yours, and the loving expression on his face made butterflies dance in your stomach.
Adjusting his hips, Wooseok hit the perfect spot inside you, making you moan his name louder than you intended, but fortunately, it was just another enticement to him, as he kept thrusting you deep and fast. Inevitably, the pleasure starts building up in your lower belly, and you knew you wouldn’t last much longer. Your walls tightened around him, and his moves started getting sloppier.
“Y/N, I’m gonna-” he barely finished the sentence, cutting himself off with a moan.
You reached down and circled your clit just how you like it, bringing yourself to the edge with him, and the room was filled with both of your moans and curses.
When Wooseok threw himself by your side, his hand cupped your cheek, bringing you closer for a deep passionate kiss, but it didn’t last long, both of you needing air too fast, chests rising up and down from the intense orgasm you had.
You quietly watched him take the condom off, tying it up and discarding it on a bin next to the bed, and when he laid again on your side, covering your lower halves with his blanket, you pulled him closer, laying your head on his chest, tracing random patterns with your fingertips on his belly.
“Is this the part where we talk about what this all means?” you mumbled against his skin.
“I guess,” he snuggled you closer, and you looked up at him “this means we may be, just maybe, dating for reals?” it was supposed to be an affirmation, but his tone was more like a question.
“But Wooseok, we barely know each other, we haven’t even had a first date, what if-”
“Y/N” he interrupted your rant, “everyone thinks we’re dating already. It’s safe to say we get along really well. The chemistry here?” he pointed between you two “wow.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at his silliness, but you couldn’t deny that he had a good point. Everything inside you screamed to be near him, and you don’t want to be stupid and ignore that.
“Fine.” you pouted, then pecked his lips. “But you owe me a date nevertheless.”
“Breakfast date, tomorrow when we wake up, how does that sound?” He proposed, and you pretended to think about it, making him nervous with all the suspense.
“It’s a date then.” you giggled.
“Okay, then,” he wiggled his eyebrows “ girlfriend ”
You wanted to make a snarky comeback, but all your brain could register is that Wooseok is your boyfriend, and all the giddiness inside you turned you into mush, and he laughed at your sudden shyness.
“I like how that sounds.” you confessed, almost inaudible.
“Get used to it, then,” he kissed you briefly “You’ll be hearing it a lot from now on.”
