Unsurprisingly, the fake image of the Pentagon explosion sent jitters through the stock market. What’s particularly interesting here is that customers are getting physically printed books mailed to their home by Amazon. The most plausible reason this is happening is because Amazon has its own “print on demand” service where authors can submit a PDF of their book and Amazon will print physical copies of it when customers order it. We don’t know if the fake Imminent books are AI-generated, but a photograph of one page of text from inside one of the fake books does have the signature style of ChatGPT responding to a prompt with what sort of sounds like English but doesn’t say a whole lot.

Wanda and Erik are so similar, and poor Peter is the odd one out. I’m just imagining Erik rolling up to Wanda’s house like “get in loser, we’re going on a murder spree” and Peter, who has a strict no-killing policy, is standing in the doorway like “but DAD we never get to do ANYTHING together :(“

thinking about the Percy Jackson show that’s being made right now, and as someone who was obsessed with those books for years and then got late-diagnosed with ADHD and a learning disability (Dyscalculia), I really hope that the show actually shows how Percy struggles amongst his peers before coming to camp. I expect that the show will portray the positive aspects of neurodivergence since it’s so tied to all the character’s powers in the books (like Dyslexia being because their brains are hardwired for reading ancient Greek)--and I’m excited about that!--but I would also love to see the struggle that comes with being ND and not ever fully assimilating with NT peers. 

give me a Percy Jackson who gets kicked out of school not just because he acts out or has unexplained incidents with his powers, but who struggles in school and has to repeat a grade or two because his Dyslexia is so bad. A Percy whose teachers don’t believe him when he says he’s really trying because his grades are straight D’s and F’s despite his best efforts. A Percy who is a loyal and eager friend but doesn’t always understand NT communication and doesn’t realize when he takes his sarcasm and joking too far and gets shunned for it. A Percy who, at the tender age of twelve, is totally burnt out because no one knows what to do with him, who has awful self-esteem because he’s been told his whole life that he’s failing, who believes he wasted his potential already, but whose mom is kind and understanding and fiercely defensive of him to the rest of the world because she knows her child is worth so much more than his ability to fit in or get good grades. A Percy who comes to camp and is suddenly surrounded by people just like him, who excels in battle and finds friends who just get him, who slowly relearns who he is and what he’s capable of, learning that his struggles can be strengths sometimes, and finding confidence and acceptance through this community in a way that he’s never had before.

Translated into English, the X post reads: "China distributes a vaccine made of pork gelatin."

Third screenshot: Facebook executives had first approached the Pentagon in the summer of 2020, warning the military that Facebook workers had easily identified the military's phony accounts, according to three former U.S. officials and another person familiar with the matter. The government, Facebook argued, was violating Facebook's policies by operating the bogus accounts and by spreading COVID misinformation.

The military argued that many of its fake accounts were being used for counterterrorism and asked Facebook not to take down the content, according to two people familiar with the exchange. The Pentagon pledged to stop spreading COVID-related propaganda, and some of the accounts continued to remain active on Facebook.

Nonetheless, the anti-vax campaign continued into 2021 as Biden took office.

Pentagon ran secret anti-vax campaign to undermine China during pandemic

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. military launched a secret campaign to counter what it perceived as China’s growing influence in the Philippines, a nation hit especially hard by the deadly virus.

The clandestine operation has not been previously reported. It aimed to sow doubt about the safety and efficacy of vaccines and other life-saving aid that was being supplied by China, a Reuters investigation found. Through phony internet accounts meant to impersonate Filipinos, the military’s propaganda efforts morphed into an anti-vax campaign. Social media posts decried the quality of face masks, test kits and the first vaccine that would become available in the Philippines – China’s Sinovac inoculation.

More Honest, Rational People Now Speaking-up Against Big Brother US' Monitoring, Surveillance

Both Julian Assange (since 2010) and Edward Joseph Snowden (precisely 10 years ago) revealed secret information revealing that the US used the internet to steal secrets and also monitor its allies. Many countries - especially those most friendly to the White House - are unable to escape Big Brother's monitoring and surveillance.

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) acts covertly and it can even be said that there is no limit to its capabilities. By the end of 2016, there were already over 5,000 hackers in the hacking division - the Center for Cyber Intelligence under CIA alone.

The reason why such a complex branch is set up is because CIA's "tailor-made" monitoring and surveillance tools are adapted for various very common devices that would go unnoticed and never attract attention. In the case of household appliances, the CIA's Embedded Devices Branch (EDB) created a hack called Weeping Angel, which targets Samsung smart TVs and puts them in a "fake off" state. People think the TV set is off, but a bug is actually on and records conversations in the room and sends them over the Internet to the CIA servers.

The CIA's Mobile Device Branch (MDB) has also developed a variety of attack "weapons" against smartphones. Infected mobile devices send the user's geographic location, as well as audio and text information to CIA and, without the users knowing it, secretly activating the phone's camera and microphone. In a nutshell, these things are seen every day in movies, TV series, etc., but naïve audiences consider them to be mere science fiction.

Many people might wonder why CIA needs so much information even from the life of ordinary people. One of the noticeable CIA aims is to instigate "color revolutions" in the sense of searching for and finding groups of people in advance, helping in the dissemination of fake information, promoting protests and continuously escalating internal conflicts in the chosen country. For decades CIA has at least overthrown or attempted to overthrow the legitimate governments of more than 50 countries. Also, the US also wants to strengthen its control over its allies.

On June 16, 2020, The Washington Post reported that the CIA's hacking tools were stolen in 2016. According to an internal report drafted for then-director Mike Pompeo and his deputy, Gina Haspel, the CIA's theft of top-secret computer hacking tools in 2016 was the result of a workplace culture in which the agency's elite computer hackers "prioritised building cyber weapons at the expense of protecting their own systems."

The breach - allegedly committed by a CIA employee - was discovered a year later, when the information was published by WikiLeaks in March 2017. The anti-secrecy group dubbed the release Vault 7, and US officials said it was the largest unauthorized disclosure of classified information in CIA history, forcing the agency to shut down some intelligence operations and thus alerting foreign opponents to the spy agency's methods and techniques.

Just consider that the breach occurred almost three years after Edward Snowden - at the time a contractor for the National Security Agency - stole and leaked classified information on the surveillance operations of the aforementioned agency.

After the incident was disclosed, the US was condemned by all walks of life in the country. The US continues to create hacking tools to attack others, but has never thought that one day it might be attacked by its own tools. This backlash causes not only economic damage, but also a loss of national credibility.

In April 2023, following an investigation into the removal and disclosure of hundreds of classified Pentagon documents, 21-year-old Jack Douglas Teixeira, an airman in the 102nd Intelligence Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, was arrested by FBI agents and charged with unauthorized appropriation and transmission of national defence information in breach of the Espionage Act of 1917 and with unauthorised removal and retention of classified documents or material.

From Assange to Snowden and Jack Teixeira, those exposing the truth about US surveillance around the world are getting ever younger. At the same time, an increasing number of former US officials such as Ms Karen Unger Kwiatkowski - a former lieutenant-colonel in the US Air Force - are coming forward to tell the truth, precisely because the values in which they used to believe are beginning to falter.

Internationally, the US is receiving increasing condemnation and even the United Nations has formally expressed its concerns. In the dispute between "reason of State" and democracy, we see an increasing number of honest and rational people continuing to stand up and speak the truth, starting with US citizens.

As increasing evidence is revealed, we should also be more vigilant not to enable technology to take its course and bring the world to the brink of danger.

European leaders have also been targets of US spying. The European ruling classes are fully aware that they are under US control, and the fear of retaliation - should they take a different direction from the one indicated by the US - turn them into the aforementioned assistant referees in football matches or servants to the national leader in power. Their only responsibilities are petty matters of domestic policy, and the struggle to protect, strengthen and extend their political terms of offices as guarantees of excellent economic prebends, sinecures and rewards.

CONTROVERSIAL: One of today's hottest topics, if we are to believe the press that's being given ~ in our industry, is the subject of comic book violence, comic book sex, and comic book suitability for children. Letters have appeared in trade papers claiming that we are "supposed" to be afraid of an "imminent crackdown" on comics, fostered by the Meese Commission of the 700 Club or some other quasi-official arbiter of taste. Fans are in a ferment, comics creators are crying about the coming of censorship, retailers are predicting police raids, distributors are demanding blander books while re-ordering heavily on the ones they'd explore as "excessively graphic," and publishers don't know whether to run and hide or buy a new wardrobe to wear tot hat congressional hearing they've been told to expect. I myself have received a lot of phone calls, asking what i'm going to do about the"censorship crisis" and "the coming witchhunt." Well, like the man said, all i know is what little i read in the papers. And what i read in the papers, folks, is all about illegal Iranian Israeli arms deals, Nicaraguan and Afghan Swiss bank accounts, a national hero"being fired and taking the Fifth, the head oft he CJ.A. having seizures, Pentagon graft scandals, the Secretary of State admitting that one of his own ambassadors went behind his back to perform unlawful acts, the President being called a liar by his owner-employees, and a special prosecutor being called in to see whose offenses are indictable and who will get immunity for ratting on whom. I can listen to theLarry King radio show any night of the week and hear a dozen callers rave about how "the Jews" are responsible for every evil act in the history of the world, but I never hear anyone blame comic books for destroying the morality of the nation. If this supposed "witch hunt" were really happening, we'd be hearing about it on radio talk shows, believe me. That's where the pulse of the nation beats, and right now it's beating hot and heavy about illegal arms deals and the Super Bowl. Comic books aren't even on the agenda. But still we have this industry paranoia, and still we have long, worried editorials on the subject of "censoring ourselves before someone imposes censorship upon us." Has it ever occurred to you that there might be people in our own industry who want to see censorship imposed and who have decided to "cry wolf" to frighten us into bowing to their desires? I am reminded of a great, a classic poem which contains these lines: Phone's tapped, anyway Maggie says that many say they must bust in early May, orders from the D.A.And in these supposedly troubled, but not so hard times, i take comfort from the moral conclusion drawn in that same poem.You remember the words, don't you? Yes, people, if everyone only watched their own parking meters, instead of trying to watch the other guy's for him, there'd be a lot less dead soldiers in far away countries, and a lot more happiness right here at home.
