EVALUATION FOR THE WEBSITE PROJECT

In conclusion to my website is that I believe it has come out better than I thought I could do. I think it has been a more challenging project than expected but I believe it has worked out well and looks aesthetically great, although there are a few minor changes such as having a donate button that works with the interactive workflow of the website. In my original idea I thought about making an iceberg that would grow along the side of the page as you scroll down but after thinking about my target audience this would not work out which made me decide to go with the more traditional navigation menu along the top. Depending on the target audience this would have been a nice feature and possibly classed as an improvement on the site itself. I found a website with inspiration on where the scrolling along the page is the navigation menu which is where my idea of the interactive menu came from but like I said unfortunately this was not a great design idea for my target audience which is 30-40 years old. *please view the bottom of my evaluation for reference* There is one other thing that I would of really like to have been improved and that would be that the website itself would adjust its sizing to the layout size of the viewers screen but unfortunately due to using Wix and not being able to find a way to do this within the site I was unable to access this feature.

 When I set out to design my website the first thing I did was investigate what are some good and bad examples of website which you will be able to see on my blog. I found out that for my target audience it is best to keep in clean and simple for the view to be able to navigate around easily and be able to get to the point without being distracted. After this I decided to do some wireframing of my website which I then later found out that some of my ideas would not work very well within the target audience as previously mention so some of the problems I was finding was fitting my target audience very with their needs first rather than trying to make the design looks nice. I made sure to look at the way the human eye will naturally follow the website and the rule of thirds. Upon doing things I came across the way I would lay my page out when it would have a lot of information I would not just line it all the way down the page I wanted to make it a lot easier for people to follow. You will find I did this on the page of my website called Sponsor A Penguin. I found that on some of the pages where there was less information and more images I would not be able to follow the same way that the eye will naturally go because it would have given the page way too much white space. One of the other key elements to designing this website was making sure that the colour scheme would fit the animal itself and that the text would not be over powered by any colours and to do this I used a website to get a colour palette that would work well for my site in general. The great thing about using a colour generator was that I was at ease with my colour choice knowing that research says these colours work well together. I used Paletton to get my colour choice and they have an amazing amount of different options you can choose from. *I will leave a reference to this site at the bottom of my evaluation* While I was doing my design ideas and working through creating this website I made sure to keep my work organised either on my blog or throughout my notes on my laptop this way I was able to keep track of what I was doing and why. One thing I made sure to keep track of was my slogan I used and why by keeping this not on the desktop of my laptop.

 Moving onto a little more about Wix as a website itself I noticed that it had quite a few great aspects such as being able to use a website template to start from and being able to make sure your website would work well with mobile phone views which in a world now where so many people have smartphones this is vital. I would personally rate Wix as an okay website to use but out of choice I would probably not use it again this is mainly because of the website sizing problem that I have previously mention above. I really do hope that they improve this problem that I found as other than this issue I would have used this website again for other website creating in the future. I may need to look and find some other places where I will be able to change the format to optimise the views screen if I am unable to find one then I will use Wix to present my final major project as I believe that the rest of its feature and a lot better than its rivals such as GoDaddy and more.

 By the end of creating my website and publishing it online I believe that the message from my website was communicated well with my target audience and easily recognised throughout my website and this message was to help penguins and keep their habitat safe for them.

 All in all, I believe this was such a great learning curve for me as I encountered a fare bit of problems through this process and I believe that when it comes to designing a website in the future a lot of the issues I had along the way will not pop up again, so it will be a great deal of time saved from learning this within this unit. I hope to keep on using these methods throughout all my design processes in the future.
