Music fans out hundreds of dollars with now worthless Pemberton Music Festival tickets can apply to get their money back, as long as they bought the tickets on a credit card.
Earlier this month, the festival cancelled after it said it was facing a $10 million shortfall.
Vancity says around 200 customers have applied for a refund after the credit union announced it would refund music festival tickets.
Canada's biggest banks, TD Banking Group, Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal also confirm they will refund tickets that were purchased on their credit cards.

Drugs in the Music Industry
Drugs have always played a part in the music industry and most likely always will. Sure, there are the musicians that choose to engage in recreational drug use but drugs have served other purposes in the music industry as well. They have been used by certain artists in order to help inspire the music in addition to just being used as part of the lyrics.
Drug references have always been found in the lyrics of songs. According to this article, the Beatles had several songs such as “Day Tripper” which was released in 1965 and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” that are clearly about drugs. These are older examples too. The mention of drugs by rappers has steadily increased over the last thirty years according to a lyrical analysis done by Genius. Even in other genres, the ideas are still present. Lou Reed even wrote a song called “Heroin”. For an example more recent, Mike Posner released a song two years ago titled “I Took A Pill In Ibiza”.
youtube
The first line of the song is “I took a pill in Ibiza” and I have a feeling he isn’t talking about ibuprofen. It doesn’t get much clearer then this in terms of examples of drug references in songs.
In addition to being found in the lyrics, most of the musicians in Please Kill Me are pretty open about their drug use. Based off of the passages I read, it seemed like they had no issues sharing their experiences with different drugs. Why is this? Why are musicians so open about their drug use? In an interview, Paul McCartney of the Beatles freely admitted that he did heroin, cocaine, and marijuana during the 60’s. In a further article by Rolling Stone, the writer claims that the LSD that the Beatles took had quite the influence on their music. In Please Kill Me, Ronnie Cutrone casually says “Meanwhile, everyone was shooting up in the staircase” (McNeil 13). Even someone a little more recent such as Snoop Dogg uses drugs. He doesn’t try to hide his use and it has become public knowledge after several arrests due topossession.
Given the number of examples I just listed off, I think it's safe to say it isn’t hard to find traces of drugs in the music industry. Most people today, if they do use drugs, tend to be pretty quiet about it. What is the difference for the bands? New Beginnings, a drug rehab center, suggests that it has to do with the culture that surrounds them. Musicians obviously have the money to support their drug habit but that doesn’t explain why they are so vocal about it. The article points more to the people that follow the artist as the issue. The writer of the article believes that the crowds of people that attend concerts and listen to the music don’t have issues with the musician doing drugs and even support the artist’s choice. Thus, by singing and talking about their drug use, they can gather more popularity. This mostly applies to musicians that are aiming for a younger crowd. I can’t see a crowd of people that are ages forty or older really encouraging the bands to use drugs.
So how does this all tie together? Drug use has provided content for songs of all genres from emo, to rock, to modern rap. It is one of the constants in the music industry. It attracts those that like to feel rebellious. This is most likely part of the reason mentions were found in punk music and seen throughout Please Kill Me. The book is “An Oral History of Punk” and Encyclopedia Britannica calls punk an “architype of teen rebellion” (Savage 1) in their article on punk music. The drugs of choice might have changed but the ideas are still there.
