So this is yesterday's November 13th post for #jayjaysbookishbirthday - #QuoteMe - and #bookscoasttocoastnov - #YoungReadersDay. 😍❤ . . . . I pulled out my copy of Amelia Bedelia - Fiftieth Anniversary Edition! - and am sharing the final page. 😍❤ . . . . For a quote, I direct you to "Mrs. Rogers learned to say undust the furniture, unlight the lights, close the drapes, and things like that." 😄❤ . . . . If you want to #QuoteMe, "Think before you speak. Word choice is important to avoid misunderstandings." 😊❤ . . . . Granted, English is a funny language and "dust the furniture" CAN mean to wipe it free of dust - or "undust" - but still, I learned a couple of valuable lessons from this series when I was a #youngreader. One being to watch what comes out of my mouth and another being that a little silliness or clumsiness or being a klutz is A-okay. 😊❤ . . . . I'm sure more was learned after reading about what all Amelia Bedelia gets up to, but it's been 35-40 years since I read all of her books - written by Peggy Parish - and I'm afraid my memory is A-W-F-U-L. 😕😭❤ . . . . Today's October 8th Day 3 task for the #deweyoct #Readathon countdown photo challenge from @deweysreadathon was to share a #ChildhoodFavourite. I couldn't pick between the two books pictured, so this image has both books! 😄😍❤ . . . . When I was very young, I really loved the Amelia Bedelia series by Peggy Parish and Frog and Toad series by Arnold Lobel. Both of these editions are new, purchased last year (I think?), and I'm so glad I have these stories to revisit. Today's September 2nd task for #jcfseptember is to share an #oldfave. So I am once again trotting out my most favorite book: Absolutely, Positively by Jayne Ann Krentz! This book is now 22 years old, and my edition of it is 21.5 years old! So it is half my age. 😊❤ . . . . In Photo One above, Absolutely Positively is shown with a Dr Pepper. While #DrPepper was never a favorite drink of mine, it used to be something in the way of a special treat. But I have come to the sad realization that I don't particularly LIKE Dr Pepper nowadays. At least, not in cans. 😕 Maybe as a fountain drink it is still a "special treat." 🤔 . . . . To see truly OLD faves, turn to Photos Two and Three! Frog and Toad Are Friends and Amelia Bedelia were both published before I was born, and I first read them - or had them read to me? - before I can remember. Which means I probably first read these books around 40 years ago. All I can remember is that I have loved Frog and Toad and Amelia Bedelia for "ALL" of my life. 😊❤ . . . . And I still enjoy reading these books! They're shown in Photos Two and Three because I couldn't decide which photo I liked better. Max standing? Or settled? 🤔😍❤ . . . . Lastly, OF COURSE Max is in all three photos. I am loving how well the #jcfjuly and #deweyjuly tasks go together. Today's July 19th tasks are the best, yet! 😄😍❤ . . . . For #jcfjuly, today's task was to share #ChildhoodMemories. And today's task for the @deweysreadathon #deweyjuly #reversereadathon countdown photo challenge was to share a #BookSelfie. 😊❤ . . . . For #jcfjuly, I present to you my favorite books from when I was a young child. I didn't have these editions, but I adored Amelia Bedelia and Frog and Toad around and over 35 years ago, and I still love them today. (So that's why I have these editions!) These are two of three series that I can remember reading way back then, mainly because I have always carried a love for Amelia Bedelia and Frog and Toad for as long as I can remember. 😍❤😍 . . . . And for #deweyjuly, I held these books against me and took a book selfie! I don't know how I got the titles to show properly, instead of backwards, but in my fumbling to get my phone in place, I must have changed a setting somehow. 😄😍❤ . . . .
