Overall: similar in ep 4 in that it was close to the emotional impact of Stephen's ep in the first season but still missed the mark (and tbh the Tony ep hit harder, but more because of Tony's characterization--Peggy is fairly consistent, Tony is not, so getting him so right (for me) was incredible). I adore this ep, I love Peggy, I love Nat, I enjoy this universe, and I hope we visit their universe again (if not, there's always fanfic, my beloved).

He didn’t miss the look shared between them, eyes drawn to where Bucky had been nudged by Jones. “What? What is it?”

“Actually, Steve, it’s just you who's going to have to hoof it,” Bucky explained, raising a hand to stop Steve before he could question him. “Look, you’re the fastest out of all of us, if anyone can get there and back before dawn, it’s you. The rest of us will hide out and wait for you two to come home.”

They did have a point, it would be a risk to have them all on the road, more likely to be spotted by roaming German soldiers. On top of that, it would be highly suspicious to see the lot of them roaming the town. God knows how loud Dugan and Bucky could be.

“But why? I’m terrible at deception, I can’t lie to save my own ass. Dernier lies better than I do! He’s French and my French is…terrible.”

Dernier snorted from where he sat with the map, shaking his head. “You’re terrible, at best. The last time you attempted to speak French, you said the dog was made of water.”

Steve ignored their laughs, his ears turning red. “See? That’s exactly the reason why I shouldn’t go! I’ll blow her cover and make a mess of things.”

“It’s exactly the reason you should,” Bucky argued, patting his friend on the shoulder. “Besides, you have a Clark Kent effect, Stevie. Most people who see you don’t recognize you without your Captain uniform on. Long as we throw a quick disguise on you, you should be good to go.”

Perhaps Bucky did have a point, he did seem to have a Clark Kent effect on people.
