This was probably supposed to be Haru comforting the reader but idk I just really wanted to make Haru cry sorry!!

The sound of Haru’s uneven steps echoed through the dim hallway. You recognized the familiar shuffle of his gait, punctuated by the occasional stumble, and opened the door to find him leaning against the frame. His orange vest was wrinkled, his tie loosened, and his usual cheerful expression was nowhere to be found. His eyes were still closed, as always, but the slump of his shoulders betrayed his exhaustion.

“Haru,” you said softly, stepping aside to let him in. “Rough night?”

“Yeah,” he muttered, his voice low and thick, the faint scent of alcohol clinging to him. “Sorry to bug ya. Just… needed to see someone who wouldn’t ask me if I’m okay.”

You closed the door behind him, watching as he shuffled to the couch and collapsed with a heavy sigh. His sling bag, the one he always carried Peekaboo in, was absent. The emptiness hit you harder than you’d expected and gave you some extreme reason for concern.

“You’re always welcome here,” you said, sitting beside him. “But you’re clearly not okay. What happened?”

Haru let out a hollow laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. “Found one of my little guys… gone this morning. Natural causes as far as I could tell. Nothing I could’ve done. But it still feels like… like I should’ve known, y’know?”

Your chest tightened as he spoke. Haru rarely let his emotions show like this. He was always the bright, unshakable force of the Jabberwock house, the one who carried everyone else through their troubles. To see him unravel like this was almost surreal.

“I’m so sorry,” you murmured. “Which one?”

“Artie. That fluffy little ball of fur with the curly tail, and the beady eyes,” Haru said, his voice cracking. “She always hopped around like she had springs in her feet. Never stayed still. Just like me, huh?”

Tears slipped from the corners of his eyes, trailing down his pale cheeks. He sniffled, shaking his head as if trying to will the sadness away. “It’s dumb to cry over this. They’re anomalies. I know they don’t last forever. But… it makes me worry about Peekaboo. What if—what if I lose them too?”

His words broke something in you. Without thinking, you reached out, cupping his cheek and brushing away a tear with your thumb. “It’s not dumb, Haru. You cared about Artie. You care about all of them. That’s what makes you such an amazing captain.”

He didn’t respond, just leaned into your touch, his usual defenses crumbling. The sight of his vulnerability stirred something deep in your chest, an ache that demanded to be soothed.

“Haru,” you whispered, your voice trembling. You leaned in, pressing soft kisses to the trail of tears on his cheek. His breath hitched, and you felt him tense beneath your touch. “You’re not alone in this. Peekaboo’s not going anywhere, and neither am I.”

Haru exhaled shakily, his head tilting to rest against yours. “Thanks,” he murmured, his voice barely audible. “You’ve got no idea how much that means.”

For a moment, the two of you sat in silence, the weight of his grief shared between you. You could feel his breaths evening out, his body relaxing against yours. When he finally spoke again, his voice held a hint of his usual humor.

“Y’know,” he said, “if you keep this up, I might have to start crying more often. These kisses are pretty effective.”

You laughed softly, your heart lifting at his attempt to lighten the mood. “Don’t push your luck, Sagara.”

He chuckled, the sound warm and genuine, and you felt the corners of his mouth curl into a smile against your temple. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”

Though the pain of his loss would linger, for now, he had you—and that was enough.

“We literally have a fenced in backyard. Bellamy!” Clarke lengthened his name so it took her almost four times as long to finish it than normal.

“This is…just no. We-we don’t have the time to train it.”

Clarke didn’t even bothering responding, just stuck out her lower lip and widened her blue eyes in the most effective, manipulative way. Then, to really push it over the top, she held up the squirming puppy next to her face, it’s giant floppy ears falling into it’s eyes and big paws uselessly scrambling in the air.

“I hate you,” Bellamy said with a sigh, causing Clarke to grin as she scooped up the adorable puppy and cradled him in her arms.

“No you don’t,” she said, stepping over to kiss him and causing the puppy to madly lick his lower jaw. “Aw, he already loves you!”

“He’s a dog, he loves everything,” Bellamy said dryly, already planning on moving anything valuable away from the puppy’s slobbery-mouth height. He had a feeling all their furniture was already a lost cause to its tiny, puppy teeth.

“What should we name him?” Clarke asked as she plopped down next to Bellamy on the sofa and started playing peekaboo with the puppy’s ears.

“Cerberus,” Bellamy replied with literally zero irony, earning an eye roll from his wife.

“We are not naming this little angel after a Greek hellhound, try again.”

“Fuck, Clarke, I don’t care! Name him whatever you like.”

Clarke frowned and cuddled the puppy closer as she looked at Bellamy.

“Princess, if you want the dog, we’re keeping it.”

“Super evasive answer, Bell. Why don’t you want a dog? “I guess I just…I thought we were going to try for a baby pretty soon,” he confessed as he scratched behind the puppy’s ears. Clarke’s eyes widened in surprise.

“And you think having a dog means we can’t try for a baby?” she asked, confusion clear in her voice. “You do realize babies take nine months to grow and dogs can be trained in a few months if you really put in the effort. This isn’t an either/or scenario.”

“So…”, Bellamy paused, looking down at the puppy in Clarke’s lap that had fallen asleep to his gentle pets. “You still want to try for a baby soon?”

“Yes, dumbass, we’ve been talking about it for over a year!”

“Language!” Bellamy hissed, covering the sleeping puppy’s ears and make Clarke burst into laughter and lean over, kissing him.

“You’re going to make a great dad,” she whispered against his lips. “To both our puppy and our kids.” Bellamy grinned, weaving his hand into her blonde curls and pulling her closer, starting to deepen their kiss when all of a sudden, frantic licking started coming from below them. Clarke started laughing as she pulled away, setting the puppy on the floor as Bellamy glared at it.

“Seriously, it’s name is Cerberus,” Bellamy said as Clarke’s eyes sparkled with mirth.

“Fine,” she said, pecking Bellamy on the cheek before scooping up the puppy and standing. “But I’m calling him Berry.” She started for the back door that led to their yard as Bellamy scrambled behind her.

“Oh no, you’re not,” he called. “You are not tainting our dog’s name!” Clarke just laughed again as Bellamy resigned himself to a puppy named Berry and a future baby with the love of his life. Well, perhaps he wasn’t resigned about the baby. Perhaps he was ecstatic.

First, if you are scared to spend lots of money on a foundation because you do not want to risk buying the wrong shade or it just ends up being cakey, I highly recommend the Maybelline FitMe foundation. Based off of my own experience, it is light-weight, full coverage, healthy to wear, and super affordable. I use the Dewy+Smooth and it helps me achieve the most perfect dewy makeup look. Next, for blush, I highly recommend any of the Rare Beauty Liquid Blushes. They are long-lasting, highly pigmented, and light-weight. I personally use the shade Love, and it is the perfect red and feminine color. Third, for bronzer, I recommend the Hula Bronzer by Benefit because it is easy to work with and you build with it just in case you want to wear more bronzer, and it has a great amount of pigmentation. Lastly, you do not need to spend lots of money on lip-liners such as the Charlotte Tilbury PillowTalk lip-liner. The best and most affordable lip-liner that I have used is the Nyx lipliner in the shade Peekaboo Neutral. Based off of my experience in using both lip-liners, the Nyx lip-liner works the exact same as the Charlotte Tilbury one. It is long-lasting, smooth, the same color, and the same amount of pigmentation.
