BACKGROUND:

Born into a house of minor Fire Nation nobles known for their illustrious military service and skill with the sword, Airen was the only child of General Katai and his second wife. After a battle in the Earth Kingdom resulted in her older brother’s death and her father’s retirement from the Army, Airen moved to the Earth Kingdom colonies when her father was appointed Governor as a reward for his service. 

Her father was a wise and honest leader of the colony, dealing with both Fire and Earth citizens fairly. This earned him enemies, however, after he exposed corruption within the colony and arrested the guilty parties, turning them over to the Fire Nation for judgement. Hired by these enemies, Muhai, a Flame Clan assassin, attacked the Jiang house while Airen and her mother were supposed to be gone, killing Governor Katai only to find Airen still at home. 

Unable to leave her as a witness to the murder and prohibited from killing her since she was not a target, Muhai instead decided to take the child back to the Flame clan. There, he urged her to lie about her age so that she would be seen as old enough to train with the other children. Otherwise, he believed she would be discarded as a burden to the clan. Airen was accepted into the clan and soon adapted to their harsh way of life, training in martial arts, weaponry, and other skills.

Airen progressed through her various levels of training near the top of her class of recruits, finally being inducted as a full member of the clan’s highly-capable warrior order, the Brethren of the Black Flame, at the age of fifteen. She made quite a name for herself very quickly, and there were some who believed she could even be talented enough to replace the clan’s reigning chief. Naturally, the chief did not enjoy this threat to his position, and so he sent Airen to the Fire Nation on a mission that was doomed to fail.

Sure enough, Airen was unable to complete her mission. In the process, she was arrested by Fire Nation soldiers, where her attempts to escape finally landed her in the Boiling Rock prison months before the Hundred Year War’s end. It is there that she is found by Firelord Zuko after he traces an attempt on his life back to the Flame clan. 

Airen finally gets the opportunity to successfully escape, but her return to her clan isn’t the homecoming she had hoped for when she learns that the Brethren has devolved into trading their skills for money. While the clan leaders lead their people to believe they are agents of balance weeding out corruption, they are instead loaning their members out as assassins and spies, hoarding wealth bought through deception and bloodshed.

Unable to stand idly by as her people are deceived, Airen allies herself with Firelord Zuko and Avatar Aang to expose the truth. In doing so, however, she is branded a traitor, and becomes another target on the clan’s list... 

I have SO MANY notes about Airen, and could scream into the void about her for literal hours. So if anyone wants to enable me know more about Airen, my ask box is open! :)

Tableau: In ballet, a large picture on stage formed from a grouping of dancers. Typically at the beginning or end of an act, it is an important moment frozen in time in which the audience can register what has been seen.

SUMMARY: In late September of 1981, brothers Gideon and Fabian Prewett were cornered and murdered by Death Eaters, loyal followers of Lord Voldemort. Mere weeks later, the Dark Lord was defeated and his followers scattered. In the chaos of the war’s final moments, no one noticed as Aileen Prewett and her 13-year-old daughter Ellie cut ties with the wizarding world and disappeared into the ether until it was too late. Fifteen years later, however, Voldemort has returned and his retribution has been swift against those who previously opposed him. After her mother’s death leaves her with no other choice, Eleanor Prewett makes her return to the wizarding world to stand against those who ripped her family apart. Allied with the reassembled Order of the Phoenix and rediscovering a family she thought lost, Ellie crosses paths with Sirius Black, quickly finding that she is not the only one who feels the pressure of filling a dead man’s shoes. With his help, she may even find that she is not the coward she thought herself to be.

This Sirius/OC plot bunny has bounced around my writing folders for a long time. I doubt I’ll ever get around to writing it, but I am more than happy to answer any questions about it or about Ellie! My ask box is always open! :)

An Avatar: the Last Airbender Fanfiction

SUMMARY: The Hundred Year War has ended. Former Firelord Ozai is doomed to spend the rest of his life in prison and the Four Nations are coming together to rebuild a world ravaged by war. And yet, just as a tentative balance is achieved, a series of assassination attempts throws the newly-crowned Zuko into the middle of a conspiracy to reignite the war between nations. The young Firelord never expected restoring balance to the world and righting his ancestors’ wrongs to be easy. As he and Avatar Aang investigate the source of the assassins, however, an unlikely ally leads them to the realization that this task will be even harder than ever imagined.   

This Zuko-centric, post-series plot bunny is one that I hope to bring to fruition one of these days since AtLA is probably my mostest favoritest fandom of all time! It would definitely be some time before I could do justice to it, however, so I feel like it qualifies for PBIPNW. SUMMARY: When Reggie is involuntarily poofed away during a rehearsal, he winds up in the middle of a chaotic emergency room. There, he is surprised to meet another Reggie--Regina, a young violinist teetering on the verge of life and death after an accident leaves her in a coma. What begins as investigating how to return Regina’s spirit to her body evolves into more as the Phantoms realize Luke isn’t the only one facing unfinished family business.

This plot bunny has been mauling me the hardest over the past couple of weeks, so I thought I would share it first! It came to me after binging JatP and thinking Reggie & Alex both need ‘Unsaid Emily’ moments with their families.

New Monthly Feature!

So...my brain produces a lot of plot bunnies.

Like A LOT.

I don’t have the time, patience, or discipline to foster each of these plot bunnies into its own project, but some of them do have aspects I find particularly interesting. And some of them have a tendency to stick around and disrupt my current projects, which can be very frustrating when I already get such limited time to write and try to use that time productively.

After stewing on all this chaotic creative energy disrupting my currently-published WIPS, I think I’ve come up with a solution that will let me burn through some of that energy without pulling too much focus from my main projects. It will also give me more material to work with and pull from for ask games and such, which will be nice since I feel repetitive always drawing on the same two-three OCs/projects.

So, at the beginning of each month, I’ll share one of the many plot bunnies floating around my writing folders, along with profiles for any OCs that might be attached to that bunny. If anyone wants to know more about them, my ask box and private messaging are always open!

Fair warning that these projects will be from a wide variety of fandoms from comics to movies to TV shows, so if your fandom interests are more narrow, this would not be the feature for you!

This might be a bust, but I figure it’s worth a shot! If I get enough interest in wanting to see the different projects, I’ll make a taglist for the feature and maybe figure out how to make a masterlist so all the info is in one place. We’ll see what happens!

For now, I’ll say my first feature will be the particularly-aggressive Julie & the Phantoms plot bunny that has been plaguing me for the past couple weeks, so keep an eye out for that!
