Note
Obviously you aren’t lvl 5 and don’t know everything but I thought this would be the best place to get clarification-
Do you think edits are allowed? Or compilatiosn that aren’t full cutscenes/compilations with gameplay as well?
Hi there! Thanks for the question, I will do my best to answer it, although I have to add that yes, I'm not L-5, and I have now law knowledge whatsoever.
If someone knows more details about law stuff (looking at you, Ace attorney fans that got into law school), please feel free to add/correct this post!
Note: The guideline is published in Japanese but I'm asuming that they can legally reach outside of Japan through Youtube, Tiktok and such.
I think the main spirit behind this thing is "Please don't make things that could be confused for official stuff".
Gameplay seems to be okay in all its forms, as long as it's clear that it's gameplay, that you're a fan playing a game you have. To that effect they also ask that you credit L-5 with the rights in the description section in the following format:
CV: ©2007 LEVEL-5 Inc.
PB/DB: ©2007 LEVEL-5 Inc.
LF/UF: ©2008 LEVEL-5 Inc.
LS/SC: ©2009 LEVEL-5 Inc.
MM: ©2011 LEVEL-5 Inc.
MM+: ©2011-2013 LEVEL-5 Inc.
AL: ©2013 LEVEL-5 Inc.
LBMR: ©2012-2013 LEVEL-5 Inc.
LMJ: ©2018-2021 LEVEL-5 Inc.
Phone trilogy: ©LEVEL-5 Inc.
PLvsPW: ©2012 LEVEL-5 Inc. ©CAPCOM
Compilation of gameplays should be good, then! 👍
As for other stuff, such as edits, I'd say that as long as it's clear that it's fan made, spoilers are tagged and L-5 is credited, it's should be fine. This old video comes to mind:
youtube
See how the first seconds are not the actual video? It says something along the lines "These characters are from the Layton series, there are slight spoilers up to Azran Legacy, continue only if you're okay with that".
It feel's weirdly 2010s, but I guess that's the way to go now.
Still, it is not like they will come inmideately for us all. I doubt they know Tumblr exists, for starters. As for Youtube and other places, short fan edits and gameplays and the likes might be good with those "I'm a fan, not L-5 and this has spoilers" disclaimers.
And I'm not really familiar with how Youtube works, but I'd say even if you have music videos or silent gameplays in Youtube the worst thing that can happen is for you to recieve a notification like "please take down this video". And then you do that and that would be sorted.
So the final message is:
Do not panic
Maybe add disclaimers and copyright thingies to future Layton videos
When/if you recieve a takedown/copyright notice, act. (And maybe share with the class so we can know when/if they are taking down videos, and which ones).
For now behave like your favourite cutscenes compilations or music videos might be taken down soon.

I think that sometimes I don't properly appreciate that this current (or just-about-to-be-over) era of cartoons had *two* pink, morally-ambigious-yet-sympathetic hyper-feminine type of female characters. Princess Bubblegum and Rose Quartz.
Generally, characters who look like That are either just straightforwardly sweet and kind and good - or if you wanna be Edgy and Subverty, then those kind of characters can also be PURE EVIL MUHAHAHHA. The most obvious example is Ace Attorney's Dahlia Hawthorne.
Tumblr media
It’s not like characters who can be BOTH imperfect and morally ambigious AND super-girly AND still be considered ‘one of the good guys’ was a concept invented by Ward or Sugar - but it is still kind of a rare thing.
Both "Adventure Time" AND "Steven Universe" flirted with that dichotomy in different ways. Princess Bubblegum was presented at first as a parody of the Good end of the spectrum. She's such a sweet pretty pink princess that she's made outta bubblegum! She rules over a Kingdom of Candy!
But with AT's wacky sense of humor and love of subverting expectations, the show quickly started leaning into jokingly presenting Peebles as maaaaybe on the Bad end of the spectrum. There’s a skull in the castle dungeon, she giggles creepily as she explains a paralyzing potion... That there's something darker larking benath the pink and the sugar...
As the show became more and more committed to Actual Continuity, the jokes hinting at her darker nature in addition to her mostly-protagonist roles started forming into... an actual thing. It became part of Peebles' defining ethos. She’s kind of a morally-ambigious ruler-lady, who sometimes values security and order and saftey over morals and truth and freedom. All she wants is the best for her subjects, but her methods for it can be... questionable.
Tumblr media
With Rose Quartz, this shift was obviously more planned. SU is in general the Show with the Plan while AT always seems to be writing arcs by the seat of their pants. The image of Rose that we were sold in the beginning, very much leaned on our expectations from such a feminine character. She’s just so perfect and beautiful and pink!
Tumblr media
And when hints of her moral ambiguity started popping up, it was easy to fall into the idea that she might've been just Evil All Along. Steven himself was afraid of that in 'Storm in the Room'. Sapphire was afraid of that in "Now We're Only Falling Apart"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And at the end of the day... Just like Steven, we can't ever really know her. I think the show leaves with a question mark on how many of her actions were justifiable or not, with a reminder a lot of that was a reaction to growin up (as much as a Gem can be said to grow up) in a very unhealthy household.
Princess Bubblegum is a Damsel-in-Distress Parody -> haha she might be evil lol -> she's a responsible ruler with a cold, pragmatic strike and a bad habit of denying people their privacy.
Rose Quartz was perfect kind and amazing -> Actually she did some bad shit and lied a lot, like all the time -> Rose Quartz was a very immature Gem who grew up in a fucked up family and worked very hard to unlearn that but still hurt people on the way, was it worth it?
Of course, since Sugar started out in AT - it's highly possible Peebles was her inspiration to make a Morally Ambigious Pink Lady Leader. Although she tended to play PB's nicer sides in the episodes she boarded, generally speaking. (the most notable outlier is ‘Burning Low’, where Princess Bubblegum was established as being the one who had Flame Princess locked up for life and was ready to let her and Finn DIE for the sake of protecting the world from Flame Princess’ power.)
The big contrast between them is what is the source of that Moral Ambiguity. Rose Quartz was presented at first as a very... mature Gem. ‘Motherly’ was the defining key-word in her design and inital presentation. But by the end of the show, it became clear that a lot of her worse actions are a result of... well... as Pink Diamond, she’s a Gem DESIGNED to be kinda immature, and while she did try and grow out of it, it’s tough for her and a lot of her actions are a result of that.
Meanwhile, while Bubblegum was always older than Finn, we at first thought she was just 18! And her Thing is that she’s just very Cold and Pragmatic, valuing safety and status-que versus dangerous freedom and protective of people ... basically all stuff we associate with ‘maturity’, rather than childishness.
(Of course, that could have as much to do with the shows’ viewpoints on childishness and maturity as much as it does with the characters.)

Note
I just finished your PB+T for Phoenix Wright and have to say that since watching it I now hear your voices whenever I play the games myself. My favorite character is Bagel Cop btw.
Bagel Cop is a beautiful character who I think Capcom should insert into their canon, honestly.

There’s a reason so many professional and college athletes have been sporting pink shoes, undershirts and sweatbands during the month of October—it’s breast cancer awareness month. As an Injury Lawyer, I thought it would be appropriate to share information about this important cause.
Though our overall contribution to the hunt for a long-lasting cure for the disease is minimal, seeing as how breast cancer’s survival rate is nearly 100 percent when quickly detected, we feel it necessary to offer up a few tips for the early detection of breast cancer.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH AND THE DISEASE’S MOST COMMON SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
More often than not, people who have breast cancer—beforehand, at least—experience anywhere between one or two of breast cancer’s most common symptoms. Needless to say, whenever a sign or symptom is discovered, a healthcare professional should immediately be contacted so as to properly identify the validity of any concerns.
The following are the most common of breast cancer indications:
Uncommon nipple tenderness, swelling or even inversion
Nipple discharge when breastfeeding isn’t taking place
Roughened skin and enlarged pores
Lumps on the breasts
The best way to discover any of the aforementioned dangers is through routine, monthly self-breast examinations. If something seems out of the ordinary, make it a point to speak with an experienced medical doctor.

WHEN INJURY DOESN’T APPEAR UNTIL AFTER AN ACCIDENT
It’s not uncommon to experience a delayed injury after car accidents. Many people, both here in Utah and elsewhere, find that they feel pain or discomfort a few days after an auto incident. Primarily, this happens because the body has stopped producing pain-masking endorphins. In this sort of situation, knowing what to do with an insurance or personal injury claim can be difficult.
First, there are many different kinds of injuries that may appear a short time later. These include injuries such as difficulty moving, headaches, dizziness, muscle spasms, numbness and concussions.
By far, concussions and whiplash are the most common injuries caused by auto accidents. A concussion, for example, can present itself in a number of ways. The key characteristic, however, is always the loss or impairment of a basic brain function. This can manifest itself in loss of balance, ringing ears, vomiting, disorientation, confusion or even irritability. Furthermore, the possibility of emotional harm is also present.
As previously mentioned, filing a claim under these circumstances can be tricky. In fact, some insurance companies will ask those who file a claim to sign a settlement. If this settlement is signed, then those hoping to file for medical cost coverage afterwards will find themselves out of luck.
Truthfully, people both inside and outside of Utah should be sure to consult with a personal injury attorney before making any decisions in order to ensure that the entire legal process runs smoothly.
DO NEW MAMMOGRAM GUIDELINES PUT YOU AT RISK?
From time to time, a wrongful death lawyer in West Jordan, Utah or elsewhere faces lawsuits against doctors who have been negligent in their patient care. Most often, doctors will misdiagnose someone or fail to diagnose when symptoms present themselves early on. Recently, the American Cancer Society (ACS) changed its mammogram recommendations, which may raise a red flag for some.
The organization, which has previously “taken the most aggressive approach to screening,” as stated by The New York Times, has raised the age of a recommended routine mammogram from 40 to 45. It has also strayed from suggesting regular clinical breast exams, which may lead to some doctor-patient confusion.
It’s important to know your rights. As stated by Nurenberg and Paris, “Physicians that fail to prescribe a mammogram to their patients before age 45 will be absolved from liability.” Thus, if someone in West Jordan were to suffer wrongful death due to a breast cancer misdiagnosis as a result of the age change, a lawyer might not be able to defend her case.
Although mammograms are imperfect scans and can sometimes lead to false positive readings, it’s never a bad idea to stay up to date in the realm of health care. Especially when it becomes harder to prove a doctor’s liability for negligence.

How failure to provide Miranda Warnings matters in the Boca Raton, West Palm, Boynton Beach & PB Gardens areas
FAILURE TO PROVIDE MIRANDA WARNINGS
So, let us say you were arrested and there was a failure to provide Miranda Warnings. What happens? The law requires the informing of a person of their Miranda rights when in-custody and subject to in-terrogation. Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436, 86 S. Ct. 1602, 16 L. Ed. 2d 694 (1966). In Miranda, the United States Supreme Court enunciated a bright line rule to guard against compulsion and the coercive nature and atmosphere of custodial interrogation, “and assure[s] that the individual’s right to choose between silence and speech remains unfettered throughout the interrogation process.” Ramirez v. State, 739 So. 2d 568, 573 (Fla. 1999) citing Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436, 86 S. Ct. 1602. Miranda requires that police inform suspects that they have the right to remain silent, and, “that anything they do say can, and will, be used against them in court of law.” Id. Furthermore, sus-pects must be told that they have the right to an attorney and if they cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for them.
Custody for the purposes of Miranda includes not only a formal arrest but also a restraint on the free-dom of movement that is associated with a formal arrest. McDougle v. State, 828 So. 2d 454 (Fla. 4th DCA 2002). The test for determining custody is whether “a reasonable person in the defendant’s posi-tion would believe that his freedom of action was curtailed to the degree associated with an actual arrest.” Ramirez v. State, 739 So. 2d 568, 574 (Fla. 1999). In determining whether a reasonable per-son would consider himself to be “in custody,” a court should consider four factors. These factors in-clude:
“(1) the manner in which police summon the suspect for questioning; (2) the purpose, place, and manner of the interrogation; (3) the extent to which the suspect is confronted with evidence of his or her guilt; (4) whether the suspect is informed that he or she is free to leave the place of question-ing.” Id. at 374; Louis v. State, 855 So. 2d 253, 255 (Fla. 4th DCA 2003); Pollard v. State, 780 So. 2d 1015, 1017 (Fla. 4th DCA 2001).
The Miranda safeguards come into play whenever subjecting a person in custody to either express questioning or its functional equivalent. The term “interrogation” under Miranda refers not only to express questioning, but also to any words or actions on the part of the police (other than those nor-mally attendant to arrest and custody) that the police should know are reasonably likely to elicit an incriminating response from the suspect. Rhode Island v. Innis, 446 U.S. 291, 301-31, 100 S. Ct. 1682 (1980). The latter portion of this definition focuses primarily upon the perceptions of the suspect, ra-ther than the intent of the police. Id. This focus reflects the fact that the intent of the Miranda safe-guards is to vest a suspect in custody with an added measure of protection against coercive police practices, without regard to objective proof of the underlying intent of the police. A practice that the police should know is reasonably likely to evoke an incriminating response from a suspect thus amounts to interrogation.
See also Traylor v. State, 596 So. 2d 957, 966 (Fla. 1992)(an “[i]interrogation takes place… when a person is subjected to express questions, or other words or ac-tions, by a state agent, that a reasonable person would conclude are designed to lead to an incrimi-nating response”).
An officer’s act of interjecting questions while “carrying on a conversation” with a defendant qualifies as “interrogation” for Miranda purposes and failure to give warnings requires re-versal of trial court’s denial of motion to suppress. Larson v. State, 753 So. 2d 733 (Fla. 2nd DCA 2000).
Thus, a law enforcement officer’s failure to provide Miranda rights to a person in custody that is be-ing questioned likely results in the suppression of any statements made by that person in response to the questioning.
If you have been detained or arrested and the law enforcement officer asked you questions without advising you of your Miranda rights, any responses you provided should be suppressed, making them inadmissible in Court.
