1. Ensure You Have a Robust Business Plan
Investors will be deterred if they think you have your head in the clouds. Having a strong passion for your product or service is not enough on its own. You need to demonstrate you have a thorough and realistic plan for the future. Having a robust business plan will go a long way.
A good tip is to adapt your business plan to cater to your audience. For example, you may want to tweak the information you present to a venture capitalist from that which you present to a bank. Who are you writing for, and what will they want to know? Structure the content of your plan accordingly.
