Chandrababu Naidursquo;s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is fast ceding ground to the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh after the TDPrsquo;s humiliating defeat in last yearrsquo;s Parliament and state elections. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has gone into overdrive to accelerate the TDPrsquo;s exit from the opposition space by encouraging top guns in the Naidu camp to desert, in the run-up to the elections for urban and rural bodies. In the meantime, the BJP is sparing no efforts to fill the vacuum left by Naidursquo;s party. Whorsquo;s more dangerous, Naidu or BJP ndash; this is the question that is haunting the ruling partyrsquo;s think-tank. In the third round of defections Naidu suffered a serious setback. Main pillars of the party in Prakasam, Kurnool and Kadapa districts came crashing, shattering the confidence of the TDP rank and file. Before the general elections, Naidu saw the exit of his key lieutenants such as Avanthi Srinivas, Thota Narasimham and Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, all sitting MPs during that time. The general elections left the TDP with just 23 out of 175 Assembly seats and three out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state with close to 40% vote share. Soon, it lost four of its Rajya Sabha members ndash; YS Chowdary, TG Venkatesh, CM Ramesh and Garikapati Mohan Rao ndash; to the BJP. Ahead of the soon to be held local body elections, Naidursquo;s party is in for a fresh wave of defections, rattling the party at the grassroots level. The situation is so grave that the party is not in a position to field candidates for most posts in urban bodies, mandal and zilla parishads for want of spirited leaders. Abandoned by strong leaders, the TDPrsquo;s vulnerable situation is evident in the present elections in the faction-hit Prakasam, Kurnool and Kadapa districts. TDP failed to file nominations in more than 550 MPTCs (Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies). Blaming it on ldquo;arm-twistingrdquo; by the ruling party, Chandrababu met Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan and called for a fresh election notification. nbsp; Jagan captures home turf In Kadapa, Jaganrsquo;s home district, the TDP is almost non-existent. AP Legislative Council former Deputy Chairman SV Satish Reddy, who waged a risky battle against Jaganrsquo;s family in Pulivendula from the TDP for over two decades, quit the party and embraced the YSRCP. Former minister P Ramasubba Reddy, whose family suffered heavily in feuds with the YSR faction for several years, also crossed over to Jaganrsquo;s party in pursuit of a safe shelter. The TDP failed to secure a single seat in Kadapa district in the last Assembly and Parliament elections. nbsp; In Kurnool district, the KE family headed by Krishnamurthy from the Backward Classes, Naidursquo;s contemporary in politics and former Deputy Chief Minister, is also looking for greener pastures. Krishnamurthyrsquo;s brother and former Minister Prabhakar resigned from the TDP on Thursday. Upset with the entry of their traditional rival Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy into the TDP, the KE brothers resorted to non-cooperation in elections in Dhone municipal town by not fielding candidates in any of the wards. The KE and Kotla families have been engaged in a turf war over Dhone and the former is peeved over Suryaprakash Reddy announcing a candidate for the municipal chairman post ldquo;unilaterallyrdquo;. Prabhakar is facing cases relating to mining and Syambabu, Krishnamurthyrsquo;s son, is the prime accused in the murder of YSRCP leader Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy. The KE family will have to be on good terms with Jagan to save their skin. Naidursquo;s community under poaching In Prakasam district, Karanam Balaram, sitting MLA representing Cheerala and militant leader from the Kammas next to former Assembly speaker late Kodela Sivaprasad in coastal Andhra, met the Chief Minister expressing his wish to join the YSRCP. Balaram is the second legislator from the Kamma community the TDP has been identified with, after Vallabhaneni Vamsi of Gannavaram, to cross over to the YSRCP. Balaram is a faction leader involved in several criminal cases, including murder cases. The rivalry between Naidu and Jagan seems to have crossed the boundaries of politics. Naidu tried to demonstrate his politics of poaching by taking in 23 of his MLAs and eating into his party, now it is Reddyrsquo;s turn to pay his rival back in the same coin. In the process of finishing his rival off, Jagan treated the BJP as lsquo;enemyrsquo;s enemy is a friendrsquo; and took its clandestine support in the general elections. But the BJP nurses its own ambition to grow on the ruins of Naidursquo;s party in Andhra Pradesh where it is non-existent. The saffron party stepped up its vitriol against Jaganrsquo;s government on the question of his Christian identity and his governmentrsquo;s alleged promotion of religious conversions in an apparent bid to consolidate the Hindu vote. On controversial decisions of the YSRCP government, such as distributive capitals, retendering for the Polavaram project and revision of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) his predecessor Naidu had inked with independent power producers, the BJP is at its best out-beating the TDP in targeting Jagan. As part of the endeavour to fill the opposition space the BJP has entered into an alliance with actor Pawan Kalyanrsquo;s Jana Sena Party to put up a joint fight in the local body elections. Fight between satraps: Blessing in disguise for BJP? While the rivalrsquo;s downfall obviously brings cheer to the YSRCP brass, some sections within the party express fears over the rise of the BJP with the TDPrsquo;s exit, which their leader Jagan may find difficult to contain. Citing the live cases in Telangana and West Bengal, a senior leader from the Amaravati region urges the YSRCP chief to be prudent in his mission to wipe out the TDP lock, stock and barrel by drawing a lesson from Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. KCR identified relatively more potential threat from the BJP after it made substantial gains in the last Parliament elections, making inroads into his partyrsquo;s bastions in north Telangana. Accordingly, KCR softened his stand towards the Congress in a conscious bid to pre-empt the BJPrsquo;s attempts to occupy the Congressrsquo; opposition space, the leader recalled, wishing to remain anonymous.

via Today Bharat nbsp; The marathon one-on-one meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a few days ago sparked widespread debate over the prospects of political realignment in the state. This was followed by Minister Botsa Satyanarayana saying that the YSRCP would ally with the BJP ldquo;if need berdquo;. His comments triggered further speculation over the possibility of the party joining the NDA. However, soon after the Minister claimed that the media had lsquo;misinterpretedrsquo; his remarks. The speculation comes weeks after the BJP announced an alliance with Pawan Kalyanrsquo;s Jana Sena. Both the BJP and Jana Sena had also unveiled a joint plan of action against Jaganrsquo;s plans to shift the capital out of Amaravati. But in the wake of Botsarsquo;s remarks, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan stated that he will pull out of the alliance with the BJP if YSRCP were to tie-up with the national party. The lsquo;Power Starrsquo; began his political entry by backing the BJP and Chandrababu Naidursquo;s TDP in the 2014 elections. From the right-wing BJP he moved to the Left in the 2019 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. His partyrsquo;s dismal performance at the hustings forced him to return to the BJP. Joining hands to take on the TDP? And while the BJP and the YSRCP were quick to dismiss reports of a tie-up as baseless, speculation is rife that the two could join hands to target their common enemy- TDPrsquo;s Naidu. This became evident in the wake of raids by the Income-Tax Department on persons and infrastructure companies close to Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh. Although the I-T department did not name the persons who came under its radar, YSRCP leaders were quick to demand the arrest of Naidu and Lokesh in connection with I-T raids. An official handout issued in the name of Surabhi Ahluwalia, the Commissioner of Income Tax and Official Spokesperson of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) suspected money laundering by three ldquo;prominentrdquo; infrastructure groups based in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Naidu was the focus of the 2019 Assembly poll campaign, with both PM Modi and Jagan targeting the then Andhra CM. Alleging corruption by the TDP government in the Polavaram project and the setting up of Amaravati as the capital, Modi had at the time of campaigning promised to bring him to book. In the run up to the polls, the YSRCP had even published a book titled lsquo;Emperor of Corruptionrsquo; on the alleged financial frauds during Naidursquo;s tenure, with Jagan going onto present a copy of it to Modi. Following TDPrsquo;s exit from the NDA in 2018, Chandrababu Naidu had attempted to stand up to the BJP ahead of the elections. He barred the CBI from carrying out investigations in Andhra without the permission of the state. However, soon after Jagan came to power, he reversed Naidursquo;s decision, thereby allowing the central agency to carry out raids in the state. Politics of compulsion Naidu and his party men, in turn, continued to build a narrative that Jagan is in dire need to be on the good books of the Prime Minister so as to escape from Enforcement Directorate cases. The CM has been on bail and attending the CBI court. But it appears to be a give-and-take for both Jagan and Modi, say analysts, pointing to the 100-minute meeting between the two, an unusual length of time the PM spent with the Andhra CM. Narendra Modi may be billed as a winning horse, helping his party win 303 Lok Sabha seats in 2019. But with the electoral reverses his party has been suffering in the state elections, the NDArsquo;s Rajya Sabha numbers have been reducing. The Narendra Modi-government has been struggling to push through key Bills in the Upper House and the PM can no longer depend on regional satraps like Telanganarsquo;s K Chandrasekhar Rao, whose TRS, in spite of supporting Bills such as triple talaq, scrapping of Article 370, voted against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. In this context, the BJP could see Jagan as a potential ally, with the YSRCP having 22 Lok Sabha seats and its strength in the Rajya Sabha expected to go up from 2 to 10 by 2023.

కాగా పశ్చిమగోదావరి జిల్లా పోలవరం ప్రాజెక్టు వెళ్లే రోడ్డుకు పగుళ్లు ఏర్పడడంతో ఆ ప్రాంతంలో భూకంపం వచ్చిందని ప్రజలు తీవ్ర భయాందోళనకు గురయ్యారు. శనివారం రహదారికి భారీగా బీటలు ఏర్పడటంతో పోలవరం ప్రాజెక్టు నిర్మాణ పనుల కోసం రాకపోకలు సాగిస్తున్న సుమారు పది లారీలను డ్రైవర్లు అక్కడే వదిలేసి దూరంగా పరుగులు తీశారు. ఆ రోడ్డు సమీపంలో మట్టి తవ్వుతున్న జెసిబి కొంతభాగం భూమిలోకి కూరుకుపోయింది. రోడ్డు సుమారు పది అడుగులకుపైగా పైకి పొంగడంతో ఆ ప్రాంతంలో భూకంపం సంభవించిందని వదంతులు వ్యాపించాయి. దీనికి సంబంధించి ద ఇండియన్ ఎక్స్ ప్సెస్ లో వచ్చిన కథనం ఈ విధంగా వుంది.

Tremors have been reported near multi-purpose Polavaram irrigation project site check post in West Godavari district today. Onsite workers told TNIE that cracks have split open roads up to one km near the project area.

People panicked this morning when the approach road leading to the project site started cracking.

The incident took place around 8:30 a.m. near the checkpost, three km from the project site. Drivers of lorries operating on that road abandoned their vehicles and ran away fearing that an earthquake may have struck the area. A 4-5 feet deep cracks were seen on the road upto half a kilometer from the check-post.

However, when contacted, project site engineer Ramesh clarified that there were no tremors. The approach road has developed cracks due to vibrations from the heavy vehicles that are being operated in the area and there is no need to panic, he claimed. The traffic on the road is being diverted, he added.

పశ్చిమ గోదావరి జిల్లాలోని పోలవరం ప్రాజెక్టు నిర్మాణ ప్రాంతానికి వెళ్లే రహదారిపై శనివారం ఉదయం అనూహ్య రీతిలో విపరీత పరిణామాలు చోటుచేసుకున్నాయి. సుమారు 200 మీటర్ల పొడవునా రహదారి పైకి ఉబికింది. రహదారిపై భారీ పగుళ్లు ఏర్పడ్డాయి. ఇది భూకంపమని సామాజిక మాధ్యమాల్లో వదంతులు హల్‌చల్ చేయడంతో తీవ్ర గందరగోళ పరిస్థితులు నెలకొన్నాయి. అయితే ఆ రహదారిపై 200 మీటర్ల మేర మినహా మిగిలిన ఎక్కడా ఇలాంటి పరిస్థితి లేకపోవడంతో అధికార్లు ఇది భూకంపం కాదని నిర్ధారించారు. పోలవరం గ్రామం శివార్ల నుండి ప్రాజెక్టుకు వెళ్లే రహదారి శనివారం ఉదయం 9 గంటల ప్రాంతంలో భూమి మెల్లగా పైకి ఉబకడం ప్రారంభమయ్యింది. మెల్లమెల్లగా ఆరు మీటర్ల మేర రహదారి పైకి లేచిపోయింది. అదే సమయంలో పక్కనే ప్రాజెక్టు మట్టి డంపింగ్ చేయడానికి వచ్చిన లారీల డ్రైవర్లు రోడ్డు నెమ్మదిగా పైకి ఉబుకుతుండటాన్ని గమనించి భయంతో సురక్షిత ప్రాంతాలకు పరుగులు తీశారు. రహదారి అంతటా భారీఎత్తున్న పగుళ్లు ఏర్పడ్డాయి. దీనితో 19 గిరిజన గ్రామాలకు రాకపోకలు నిలిచిపోయాయి. రహదారి ఉబికి పగుళ్లు తీయడంతో రోడ్డు పక్కనే ఉన్న ఒక పొక్లయినర్ మట్టిలో ఇరుక్కుపోయింది. ప్రాజెక్టులో ఉన్న సబ్ స్టేషన్‌కు వెళ్లే 32 కేవీ విద్యుత్ లైనుతోపాటు 19 గిరిజన గ్రామాలకు వెళ్లే 11 కెవి విద్యుత్ లైన్లకు సంబంధించి స్తంభాలు కొన్ని విరిగిపోగా, మరికొన్ని పక్కకు ఒరిగి తీగలు తెగిపోయాయి. దీంతో వెంటనే విద్యుత్ సరఫరాను నిలిపివేశారు. సంఘటన జరిగిన ప్రదేశానికి ప్రాజెక్టు ఇంజినీర్లు చేరుకుని భూమి నెర్రలు తీసిన ప్రదేశాన్ని పరిశీలించారు. ప్రాజెక్టు డీఈ శ్రీధర్ మాట్లాడారు. గతంలో స్పిల్‌వే నిర్మిస్తున్న ప్రాంతంలో ఉన్న కొండను తొలగించిన రాయిని ప్రస్తుతం రహదారిగా ఉపయోగిస్తున్న మడుగు ప్రాంతంలో డంపింగ్ చేశారు. డంపింగ్ చేసిన రాయిపై మట్టిని సైతం డంపింగ్‌చేసి, రహదారిగా ఉపయోగించడం ప్రారంభించారు. రెండేళ్లుగా లారీల రాకపోకలకు ఈ రహదారిని ఉపయోగిస్తున్నారు. గతంలో డంపింగ్‌చేసిన కింద ఉన్న రాయి వత్తిడి కారణంగా పైకి లేవడంతో రహదారి పైకి ఉబికిందన్నారు. రోడ్డు ఇలా పైకి లేవటానికి డంపింగ్ యార్డే కారణమని పోలవరం ప్రాంత ప్రజలు ఆందోళన చెందుతున్నారు.

కాగా స్పిల్ ఛానల్‌లో తీసిన మట్టి బీసీ కాలనీ సమీపంలో డంపింగ్ చేస్తున్నారు. ఇప్పటికే పాత పోలవరం సమీపంలో గతంలో తొలగించిన కొండకు సంబంధించిన రాయి డంపింగ్ చేశారు. ప్రస్తుత పరిణామం నేపథ్యంలో ఈ డంపింగ్ యార్డుల వల్ల భవిష్యత్తులో భూమి లోపల భారీ స్థాయిలో మార్పులు సంభవిస్తాయా అని ప్రజలు భయాందోళనలు వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. భూమి పైకి లేచిన ప్రాంతంలో జియాలజిస్టులతో పరీక్షలు నిర్వహించి, కారణాలను గుర్తించి స్పష్టమైన ప్రకటన చేస్తేనేగానీ ప్రజల్లో భయాందోళన తొలగేలా లేదు. కాగా ప్రాజెక్టు కాంక్రీటు పనులకు సిమెంట్ తీసుకువచ్చిన లారీలు సైతం పోలవరంలోనే నిలిచిపోయాయి. పేరంటాళ్లపల్లి వెళ్లే టూరిస్టులు సింగన్నపల్లి వద్ద బోటు ఎక్కాల్సి ఉండగా పోలవరంలోనే నిలిచిపోయారు. శనివారం సాయంత్రం సంఘటన జరిగిన ప్రదేశాన్ని పోలవరం ఈఎస్సీ ఎం వెంకటేశ్వరరావు పరిశీలించారు. ఈ ఘటన కారణంగా విద్యుత్ శాఖకు సుమారు రూ.10 లక్షల వరకూ నష్టం వాటిల్లిందని, ఈ ప్రాంతంలో రెండు రోజుల్లో విద్యుత్ సరఫరాను పునరుద్ధరిస్తామని ఆ శాఖ ఏడీ డి రామకృష్ణ తెలిపారు.

ప్రతి సోమవారాన్ని పోలవరంగా తీర్చిదిద్దామని మంగళవారం మాటలు చెబుతున్న ఓ అధికార ప్రతినిధుల్లారా!..పోలవరంలో మీరు చేస్తున్న వేగవంతమైన సింగపూర్ టెక్నాలజి అభివృద్దిని చూడటానికి భూమాత తన గర్భం నుంచి బయటికి వచ్చింది అంటే అక్కడే అర్థమవుతుంది పోలవరంలో ఏంతటి అద్బుతమైన అభివృద్ది జరుగుతుందో..నీటి పారుదల శాఖ మంత్రి గారు..2018కల్లా పోలవరాన్ని పూర్తి చేసి పులివెందులకు నీళ్లు ఇస్తాం రాసి పేట్టుకొండి అంటే ఏంటో అనుకున్నాం కానీ భూమాత కూడా తొంగి చూసేంత అభివృద్ధి చేస్తారు అనుకోలేదు..ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు 2019 లోగా పోలవరం పూర్తి చేసి జాతికి ఆంకితం చేస్తాం అంటే భూమి బద్దలయ్యేలా విధంగా పనులు చేసి ఈ విధంగా ఆంకితం చేస్తారు అని అసలు ఊహించలేదు..పొలవరంలో సరికొత్త టెక్నాలజీ,వర్షం పడినపుడు నీటిని నిల్వ ఉంచేందుకు వీలుగా రోడ్లు వేస్తున్న కాంట్రాక్టర్లు, వర్షం పడగానే వాటంతట అవే మూసుకుపోయేలా ఏర్పాట్లు.ఈ కొత్త టెక్నాలజీ రోడ్లను జాతికి అంకితం ఇవ్వాలని బాబుగారి ఆలోచన. ధర్మ దీక్షలతో పాటు వీటిని కూడా పెద్ద ఎత్తున ప్రజలకు తెలియచేయాలని నిర్ణయం.ప్రాజెక్ట్ లో నీళ్లు ఉండి ఇలాంటి ప్రమాదం జరిగితే ఊహించే దానికే భయంగా ఉంది .రాజమండ్రి కనుమరుగవుతుంది గోదావరి జిల్లాలలో ఊహించని ప్రాణ , ఆస్థి నష్టం వాటిల్లుతుంది
