Patrick Cashin’s photographs, taken from high above and deep below the New York City Transit system, offer a unique perspective that takes full advantage of a skilled eye and unparalleled access. During his 20 years as MTA’s official #photographer, Cashin captured countless images that tell a story of the bridges and tunnels that few know. In a notable image currently on view in his Lightbox exhibition at the Bowling Green (4,5) station, a falcon sits majestically atop the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Another image from an earlier exhibition, reveals an early stage of Second Avenue Subway tunnel construction.

This New York Times article features the extraordinary, and recently retired, MTA photographer #PatrickCashin, who has captured countless rarely seen views of the transit system. With a keen eye for composition, he skillfully documented the MTA from the caverns of subway tunnels, to the spires of bridges, construction zones, maintenance sites, special events, and the Transit workers who make it all happen. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/10/nyregion/nyc-subway-photos.html
