Why you should vote for Ooama no Ake no Mitori for the Patricide Awards

As I have not shut up about, Mitori should get votes because they not only killed their Father, but enacted a coup against his whole dynasty (well, it's a dynasty he inherited but whatever, still his).

But I don't think being told that is enough to sway the average person, so I've compiled snippets from their official profile and various pieces of dialogue for you to review and keep in mind as you vote. I apologize if there's not a lot, but I hope it'll make for an easy read (after all, even though Len'en is a shmup with lore, it is still a shmup, so you're going to have to fill in a few gaps here and there).

New Emperor Team vs Mitori

As you can see, Mitori hated the old dynasty so much they changed their family name about it.

Mitori talking about why they hate their parents (most important to this poll, their Father). Notable highlights include feeding their parents to the crows and general shit talking about their ruling ability.

Secret Team vs Mitori

In which we learn from someone with a memory reading ability that Mitori has hated their Father since they were young (that much could be implied from the profile at the beginning, but emphasis~).

Shrine Team vs Mitori

This doesn't have much to do with patricide but I believe I need to emphasize the fact they pulled off a coup, and what better way to do it than with this iconic bit of dialogue. I fucking love them.

(To be clear the entire royal family wasn't wiped out. Apparently Mitori decided what to do with their siblings on a case by case basis. More details here in this interview question, the link indicates the question number. And if you're wondering who the fuck Iyozane is, Mitori poisoned them. With consent of course, they were close after all.)

Wait idk anything abt oedipus except the whole mom thing. Did he know he was um... did he know that the person he was doing it with was his mom?

the poor guy so long story short he gets a prophecy that he will kill his dad and fuck his mom BUT he doesnt know he was adopted, so in avoiding ever returning to his adoptive home because he wants to save them from that fate, he manages to stumble his way into fulfilling the prophecy by killing a stranger who was his bio dad and winning kingship and the hand of a mysteriously widowed queen in marriage. granted if he was truly over cautious he should have never killed anyone and never slept with a woman older than him BUT that's not how tragic plays work. summary of the story under the cut with like tw for mentions of rape, incest, murder, suicide

he's from a cursed family bc his dad Laius went to the court of Pelops (an already cursed family) and Laius violates sacred rules of Hospitality (called xenia) by abducting and raping Pelops's son Chrysippus. SO Laius is cursed by Apollo and told that his son will kill him. SO Laius vows to be childless. But one night he gets drunk and sleeps with his wife Jocasta. they have a son and they expose him as a baby on the mountaintop - he is either tied or staked by the ankles, damaging his feet - his name means "Swollen Foot".

baby Oedipus gets found by a shepherd and given to the king of Corinth, Polybus, and his wife Merope. Oedipus grows up and as a young prince he wants to know about his destiny so he goes to the Oracle at Delphi. The oracle says he is going to "mate with his own mother and shed with own hands the blood of his own sire." Oedipus is absolutely HORRIFIED. there are prohibitions about incest and patricide. He determines that he will never go back to Corinth to protect his family.

He takes to the road, not sure where to go now that he refuses to go home. So then while he is on the road there is a stranger driving a chariot recklessly. and they have a fight because Oedipus is a prince and a pedestrian who almost got run over and this chariot riding fellow has major road rage. It gets violent and only one of the charioteer's servants is left alive. Its unclear if it was self defense or road rage, but hospitality/xenia was violated.

Oedipus goes to Thebes where a sphinx was holding the city hostage. Oedipus solves the sphinx's riddle (the what walks with four legs in the morning two in the day and three at night) because Oedipus frees Thebes, he is awarded kingship and the hand of the queen in marrage - because for some mysterious reason the king is missing and dead.

All of this is prequel to the famous play Oedipus the King by Sophocles

Then, over a decade later, Thebes suffers a plague and Oedipus sends his brother in law to the oracle to find out why Thebes is suffering from a plague. The oracle says that it is from Religious Pollution, because they never found the king's murderer. oedipus CURSES the murderer and swears they will bring justice -- BUT Oedipus IS the murderer so he cursed himself. oedipus calls in the blind prophet Tiresias. Tiresias and others tell Oedipus to stop prying, he won't like the answers he gets. but Oedipus is DETERMINED to be a Good King and stop the plague.

Jocasta, Oedipus's wife tries to comfort him, saying that her first husband had a prophecy that his son would kill him and that didn't happen so don't worry. but now Oedipus has a new concern. He starts asking questions about that murder. They get the servant who survived, the only witness to the murder, to come in and testify.

Oedipus is hoping that the servant will say that it was several robbers who killed the king. Then a messenger shows up and says that Oedipus's father, Polybus, is dead. and that the messenger is the same one who a shepherd once gave a foundling baby to to give to the king.

Jocasta starts piecing things together now.

Then the servant/shepherd arrives and the truth comes out that Oedipus killed his biological father and married his mother.

Oedipus curses himself and the fates and runs off. Jocasta hangs herself, and Oedipus, finding her body, takes the dresspins from her clothes - because he saw parts of his mother he was never meant to see - and blinds himself.

His children are taken from him by his brother in law and Oedipus leaves in exile.
