The fact Bruce Beresford directed Don's Party and The Club, two extremely cynical, acerbic and misanthropic films that I love dearly in part because of their pessimistic attitude towards life (and in part because Graham Kennedy is in them) and then he gets his fame for Driving Miss Daisy, the most sappy, Oscar Bait™ film of all time. I'm sorry but Don's Party will always be his best film.
