seetttthing scalding hot take but honestly i feel no sympathy or theoretical sadness about altea being blown to bits. the few alteans we DO know are all assholes. clearly the universe isn't missing much. in fact, if you look at the only canon universe that DOES still have altea--- they go on to be just as bad as the galran empire if not even worse.
so yeah. maybe zarkon did the universe a small favor before he went truly off the deep end.
edit; just found out alteans destroyed Diabaazal long before zarkon destroyed altea. nothing ANYONE says can convince me alteans are anything *but* the real villain of the show. they got what they deserved.
#calling coran an asshole only bc he's... well. kind of an asshole.#and honestly speciesist.#the first episode always makes me seeth mad over that one line 'look at your synapses firing away in their primitive brain cage!' bc#apparently only alteans can make observations and only alteans have 'evolved' brains#what pidge said wasnt even that ground breeaking of an observation. anyone who wasnt actually blind would be able to see the lions together#that one line was the perfect glimpse into how alteans ACTUALLY behaved and how they ACTUALLY viewed all the planets they colonized.#bc i do not believe for a second that they were actually a 'diplomatic race'.#that's just sparkly language for space colonizers.#and all the times he rambles on about altea while the paladins are stressed. he doesn't even consider their feelings or notice.#their constant dismissal and even insulting of the humans' biological needs and social behaviors. aint no fucking way a diplomatic species#that has traveled the universe and seen and allied with billions of species would behave like that. and it isn't just allura. it's coran to#they constantly compare everything the humans do to what the alteans COULD do. again; first episode allura gets mad at these teenage kids#for not being able to fiht a gladiator 'fit for an altean child'. she gets mad at them for laughing and bonding (the ENOUGH! scene at dinne#allura is self explanatory.#honerva is self explanatory (she was a major asshole long before she became haggar)#lotor is self explanatory#i havent watched past se 6 bc i refuse to but the small bit i have seen from romelle? also an asshole.#and again. alllllll of the comet au alteans.#even alfor is kind of douchey at times. i mean clearly he raised his daughter to do nothing other than kiss his ass.#vld#anti allura

following up on the previous idea, in order to cover up the fact that they have an alien at the Galaxy Garrison, Sam ends up working with Shiro to rig up some tech that makes him look superficially human. He basically hides in plain sight, using the alias of Takashi Shirogane to pose as a flight instructor (and maybe exploiting it to go with Adam on the things he calls 'dates').
Matt was not in the loop on this.
When the Castle of Lions arrives on Earth following the signal of the blue lion, it wormholes there, bypassing their sensors by Kerberos. It lands in a secluded area of the desert, and they eventually establish that the blue lion is in possession of something called a... Galaxy Garrison. It's a space exploration program, apparently.
Matt did not come with them. He needed to help the rebels, and didn't know until after the fact that their destination was Earth. It's just Allura, Keith, Coran, and Pidge. Pidge comes up with a brilliant plan to sneak into the Garrison, thankfully. They've got two shapeshifters on board! They can pretend to be humans and Pidge can hack into the Galaxy Garrison's servers and enroll them as transfer students. This will work flawlessly.
Keith and Allura Kogane are registered as half-siblings. They are relying entirely on Pidge's secondhand knowledge of humans to help them blend in. They are incredibly bad at this, but nobody expects a pair of transfer students to essentially be spies planning on stealing an ancient superweapon.
Three disguised aliens are on a collision course with one another, and they don't even know it.

...what do you mean, he isn't a sentient yalmor?
Played Monsters and Mana for the first time and Coran is incredible at doing different voices and characters. Huge props to him, I almost thought I really was talking to a sentient yalmor for a moment there.

Part 36: Oh? Oh! Oh.
Previous - Next
Beginning
“Of course, that's not to say that you ever should take brain worms just for ideas. That's a bad use of resources and can mess you up pretty good, so it's better to just avoid that kind of thing. Which, as I'm talking it honestly is just space drugs. Addiction to drugs is no joke, and while I can't blame Coran for wanting to help us spread the word of Voltron, he really should have just said no. Especially to some creepy dealer at a hospital. Not his smartest move for sure. He really should have just asked us for ideas. I mean, look at Shiro's flips! Pidge's pirouette! We could have had a whole musical going! But, alas, it's in the past now. Coran may have poor choice in dealers, but he sure knows how to dress. That guy has-“

Fic Snippet
It was no secret Lance had been looking.
He’d been looking since he was twelve, and a streak of pitch-black had brushed past him and Hunk in the Garrison Auditorium. He had watched as the unknown boy made his way across the room looking disgruntled, stared until Hunk managed to snap him out of it. He watched in awe as Keith cleared the simulator for the first time, stars swimming in his vision.
He’d been looking till he was fifteen and seething with jealousy, glaring angrily as he watched Keith clear the simulator every time, then harshly snipe down his classmates’ every attempt at befriending him, borderline rude in his responses. He watched his shoulders begin to fill out his uniform. He watched the infuriatingly smug, lopsided smirk Keith shot his way every now and then.
He’d been looking since he was seventeen, just under the threshold of a legal adult, with the both of them now soldiers in a thousand-year-old Space war. He watched as Keith barrelled through enemies thrice his size with nothing but sheer stubbornness and determination. He watched as Keith’s eyes flickered yellow when he was emotional, his teeth suddenly becoming sharp.
Lance is nineteen now and he’s still looking; the only difference is that now, he’s allowed to touch, too.
He’s allowed to take Keith’s hand while walking through the hallways and kiss his cheek as good luck before battle, and shove him playfully when he’s being annoying.
And making out? Well... Technically, he’s allowed that too.
“Woah, woah, woah, time out,” Lance says, sitting up on the edge of his bed and forming a T with his hands. “We’re getting dangerously close to ‘My Catholic mother would not approve of this’ territory.”
“Why?” Keith snorts, standing near the foot. “Because we’re both men?”
“Because we’re making out in a bed and we’re not married, duh!” Lance corrects, smacking him on the shoulder.
“I mean, there’s an easy fix, right?” Keith smirks as he moves to lay down beside a blushing Lance.
“I mean, I dunno,” he hums and taps his chin inquisitively, deciding to humour him. “Do they sell wedding rings in Space?”
“Maybe. There should probably be some at the Space Mall.”
“That is where we found Kaltenecker.”
“Yeah. If they have a cow, they should probably have some diamonds, right?”
“And if not, we could always ask Allura and Coran about Altean wedding traditions.”
“Yeah,” Keith sits up on the bed and makes a show of yawning, lifting his arms in a stretch. “Anyway, G’night, Lance.” He pushes off the bed and heads for the door.
“Wait, wait, where are you going?!” Lance cries, sitting up frantically.
“Back to my room.” The other boy says like it’s the obvious conclusion. His finger hovers over the doorpad.
“Aren’t we going tooo-?” Lance gestures wildly at the empty bed beside him.
“‘Aren’t we going tooo-?’ what?” Keith asks, just a few degrees off from genuine confusion, that bastard.
“Weren’t we just about to make out?!” Lance practically yells, then bites his tongue when he remembers the other Paladins are all probably sleeping.
Keith is unable to fight back his laughter as he says, “I dunno if we should. We’re not married, remember.”
“Oh, fuck off!” Lance yells, and Keith fully breaks, laughing his head off as he leaps into the covers beside Lance with all the finesse of an Olympic swimmer.

If Keith and Lance were going to fall together at any moment, it would’ve been when Keith was the black paladin.
Keith had successfully kept his walls up until then; battles left him mostly unfazed, team bonding barely nicked his armor, and even Hunk’s cooking wasn’t able to pry him open.
Then, Shiro vanished, and everything changed. Keith suddenly was tasked with leading the team intended to save the universe.
All his previous failings and outbursts piled up in his mind at once, nausea rolling through his body constantly. How was he supposed to do this? He was a dropout with anger and authority issues, a wild warrior without aim. Keith wasn’t meant to be anything more than a tamed beast. Even worse, if he wasgoing to step up eventually, to become something greater, he was supposed to do it with Shiro. Instead, a gaping hole had been left behind at the helm. Keith was too young. Too inexperienced. And worst of all, he was entirely alone.
For the first time in a long time, he was vulnerable, and his aching edges were exposed to anyone brave enough to look.
The team noticed when he started to crack, exposing his pain and his fear.
Hunk tried to help, in his own unique way. He noticed the pale hue of the black paladin’s skin and resolved to feed him, maybe help him talk over food. However, that hardly worked, since Keith stopped eating regularly with the team.
Even Pidge tried to relate through their unique bond. She teased him about the old stories they used to muse over together, but anecdotes about their brothers were still raw for Keith, and he lashed out. That caused Pidge to retreat quickly, her concealed hurt only worsening Keith’s guilt.
Allura spoke to him in soothing tones that only riled him up more. It was the worst with her, even though she tried her best. Somehow, her gentle tone only reminded him of the wild thing he was. When he would respond in anger, she wasn’t afraid to rise to meet him, and instances where the whole team witnessed them clash only embarrassed him.
But then there was Lance. That was always how it had gone since their journey started. Lance, appearing to help carry Keith’s brother. Lance, badgering him into a fight. Lance, constantly standing just to his right, prepared to offer unwanted commentary. And now he was the red paladin.
For the first few days after the lion switch, Lance merely observed how Keith interacted with everyone silently. It made him uncomfortable. He was restless under Lance’s piercing gaze, his eyes that tracked his every choice, his normally discerning tongue that for once chose to still.
The moment that caused Keith to snap occurred during training. He’d been staying up late every night, working extra with the bots to get better with the new black bayard. Logically, it was just as perfectly balanced as his old sword. Keith just wasn’t able to shake the feeling that the weight of it wasn’t suited to his hand.
So, he trained with it. Again and again.
Which meant that team training during the daytime… well, it suffered. He was exhausted. Coran, watching over them, admonished Keith for it, but he could barely hear the royal advisor over the sound of his blood rushing past his ears and the clanging of his teammates moving their bayards and the bright lights shining into his pupils and the bruises settling painfully under his ribs and the pressure of his new black armor against his sternum and, worst of all, Lance’s unrelenting stare.
He snapped back into himself, realizing the team was awaiting his reaction. Their eyes looked round and worried. Keith narrowed in on one person who was standing just at his elbow.
“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” he hissed.
There was a pause after his words. Lance’s expression remained careful, his hand coming up to rest on Keith’s shoulder, forcing a breath out of his lungs. The lights seemed to dim.
“Let’s take a break,” Lance suggested to everyone. Marvelously, they nodded, Hunk exchanging murmurs with Allura as they both put down their weapons and began to walk toward the door. Pidge scampered up the stairs to Coran. Keith looked at Lance in bewilderment after noticing they were alone.
Lance just grinned, and it released something in Keith that had been knotted up.
“So, Samurai, I think we need to talk.”
Lance quietly spoke to him about the team’s unease. That they all wanted to help him, but he’d regressed back to a place that was painful to see. Lance spoke of a small desert shack, a place that could be a shelter, but could also be confining in its limitations. A place to hide from the watchful stars. A place of anger, regret, and desperation.
Grief.
Lance’s words carved out an image of a loner fulfilling his own self-destructive prophecy. It made Keith bristle. Then, however, he reminded him of other images, scenes from the recent past he’d rejected in his mourning.
Helping Hunk perfect a recipe late at night, even if he didn’t know much about cooking besides canned beans and rice.
Sorting Pidge’s small pieces of machinery as she ranted about a planet they’d visited.
Allura laughing when he made a dry comment about a foreign diplomat, and then immediately failing to cover it up when said official turned around, making Keith smile as well.
Lifting Lance off a bloody battlefield, the harsh sounds raging in the background as he carried him into Red and saved his life.
“You’re not alone.” Lance’s hands stretched out, beseeching.
“Why did you wait so long to talk to me?” Keith breathed, as if he knew, deep down, that this talk was going to come the entire time. “Why were you so quiet?”
And Lance’s face fell. Keith regretted asking near instantly.
“Well, you’re not the only one trying to fill in for a strong presence. I had to get used to some things, too, y’know? Convince myself that I can be right for this job.” He points between himself and the black paladin.
It’s ridiculous. Keith wants to open his mouth, to assure Lance that he’s not just excelling, that he’s perf—
“You need to start showing up to team dinners. Stop working yourself to death at night— that was fine when you were number two, but now you gotta lead us in training,” Lance started to list off as he put a finger up for each point. “Talk to Pidge about Shiro, since she misses him too, not just you. Reassure Allura that you’re happy to lead alongside her. Just… chill the F out, dude.” Keith blinks, owlish in the face of a literal itemized list of things to fix.
So, he tries to chill the F out.
It isn’t easy. He still feels inadequate, out of place in every room he steps into, especially when his friends all look to him for answers. Keith often trembles with the weight of the universe. Thank god for Lance, always standing just to his right. Slowly, they open the door of that desert shack together, and he learns how to share his burden. He learns a lot of things.
Like how Lance is deceptively smart when it comes to strategizing. Or that Lance’s empathy is a weapon, able to prevent a battle with a few well-placed words. He especially enjoys learning that Lance has curly hair, he thinks Keith is funny when no one else does, and he has a fondness for young kids due to his family.
Lance is his right-hand man and co-leader in every sense of both terms. Their call-and-response has never been better. Oftentimes, before thinking about what Shiro might do, Keith begins to consider what Lance might do.
And isn’t that frightening?
They fell together after the lion switch in ways no one could have predicted. Keith feels a wild thing settle in his chest at the thought, his eyes turned toward the stars that watch him in return.
He stays standing among the sand. He ignores the urge to retreat to shelter. Keith embraces the sky and its promise of warm, fresh rainfall.

so i saw @klancer-warrior's art where keith pulls lance's hoodie over his head and i got the biggest urge to do something with it so i did. enjoy?
Keith usually doesn't mind the cold -- he's lived in the desert for years and the nights can get cold, he's been in space for a few months now. So he's usually fine with it, but with the Castle's heating system malfunctioning for three days now, he thinks it's a bit too much now.
Even Pidge had to hunt down a pair of pants that reached past her knees, and Keith himself has been walking around with his jacket zipped and hands buried in his pockets. He's honestly surprised that Hunk and Lance don't seem to be cold at all, despite both of them coming from countries with warm climates.
It's after dinner when they're walking to the common room that Keith gives up on fighting the urge and pulls Lance's hood over his head, his fingers grazing his hair. Keith's face buried in the collar of his jacket, partly because of the cold, and partly because he can feel the redness creeping up his cheeks.
Lance looks at him, surprised.
"It's cold," he says, not elaborating.
Lance looks away, a strange expression on his face, and Keith can see a glimpse of dusting of pink over his cheeks and the bridge of his nose before Lance turns away.
When they get to the common room, Pidge and Hunk are already setting up the movie of the night.
"Hey guys! Shiro should be here soon with the snacks, and Allura and Coran said we can start without them, they'll try to figure out the heating situation," Hunk says when he notices the two of them.
The rest of the evening passes in a typical team Voltron fashion: Lance talks over the movie which in turn makes Keith try to strangle him, Pidge points out all the inaccuracies, Hunk tries to get her to enjoy it but gives up halfway through, and Shiro is asleep despite all the noise. Allura popped in at one point to tell them that they think they figured out what the problem could be, so they'll try to fix it tonight. Nobody has an argument against that.
Keith and Lance are the last ones to leave, agreeing to clean up since the others set it up. They're at their rooms, and Keith is about to walk inside when he looks at Lance.
He kept his hood up, and it makes him look softer. For the second time in a few hours, Keith acts on his impulses. He grabs the edges of Lance's hood, and pulls him close, pressing a kiss on his lips. It's quick, fleeting, and he doesn't let Lance react before he's withdrawing.
"Goodnight, Lance."
He doesn't look back, just goes into his room with his heart pounding as he realizes what he's done. He doesn't see Lance turning red, doesn't see him lift a tentative hand to his lips, gently touching them still in disbelief.
But he will wake up to fervent knocking on his door in the morning.

[ID: a comic about Voltron characters set in a Gravity Falls au.
Keith, outside the mystery shack, picks up a stick and throws it. A large canid runs after it.
Pidge, sitting inside and looking out the window, disturbed, asks "Is that a wolf."
Lance leans over her and says "This is why I keep telling you to investigate Keith."
Pidge shoves him away, saying "This again? Keith's not an alien, Lance."
Lance says "What? I'm serious!" Pidge looks unimpressed, and he adds "Not about the alien thing." He presses his face to the window and says "But he's so mysterious. Why's he so weird."
Pidge opens a can of soda and asks "How old are you?"
Lance, counting on his fingers, lists "1. Nobody knows where he lives."
Pidge interrupts, "I don't know where YOU live."
"You're just antisocial. Matt's been over," Lance tells her, and continues "2. Does he even work here."
Pidge hides her face in her soda and says "uh."
In flashback with a much simpler style, Pidge asks Coran "DOES Keith work at the Mystery Shack?"
Coran: Why, I couldn't say!
Pidge: One way to tell is if you pay him.
Coran: Oh yes, I suppose so!
Pidge: WELL?
In the present, Pidge continues, "I still haven't been able to figure that out."
Lance narrates a few one-panel scenes of Keith being weird. He says, "Remember that time Hunk found him in the woods at night?" Hunk, carrying a telescope and looking spooked, says "H-hey, dude." Keith appears to be dripping wet, is all in shadow, and has glowing eyes.
Lance continues, "And that time he robbed a convenience store?" Lance in the past spots Keith emerging from a store and says "Oh, hey Keith." A cashier says "Stop! Thief!"
Lance adds, "And that time-" before being cut off by Pidge, who waves her arms through the scene, dissolving it. She says "OK, OK, I see your point." Looking thoughtful and a bit evil, she continues, "We'll have to stalk him on his next day off..."
Lance, startled, says "I didn't say STALK!" End ID.]
For those of you who don't remember, which I imagine is everybody, i made a gravity falls au of voltron a while back! Pidge and Matt are Dipper and Mabel, Coran is Grunkle Stan and is actually a family friend of their parents and not their uncle, the rest of the paladins sans Allura are collectively Soos and Wendy, and I went with the name "Mystery Shack" for the building instead of Castle of Lions because Castle of Lions is too cool for a tourist trap.
The vld gravity falls au tag, which i haven't updated in one hundred thousand years and which i should get around to talking more about, especially because i have the entire main plot planned out and never talk about it

Au were after there time on the space whale Keith and Krolia continue to get visions.
Keith was always sensitive to quintessence.
He can feel the blue lions call from miles away even though it isn’t his lion.
Red will come for him from a distance.
He has the strongest bond with his lion up until the lion switch.
But the whale takes that and jumps kicks it. Yes Krolia still gets them to but no where near the frequency or detail that Keith does.
He brushes up against someone and gets a flash of their past or their future.
They are trying to form a plan of action when suddenly Keith will stop moving and talking and get this far away look in his eyes. Only to snap back with a gasp moments later and drastically change whatever plan they had. Snapping back from a vision from the future of one of his friends dying
It first happens once the battle with Lotor is done. It’s a surprise to everyone as it’s the first one Keith’s had outside of the whale.
One moment the group is relaxing and liking their wounds. Trying to figure out what to do next.
Suddenly Keith freezes. He was mid-sentence talking to Pidge when suddenly all movement stops. His eyes are glassy and far away, he’s obviously looking but not seeing what’s in-front of him.
Pidge freaks out. Shiro (one of her big brothers) was just discovered to be a clone, Lotor a maniac, and they lost the castle ship (their home) and now Keith (anther brother to her) has completely frozen and stopped responding.
She calls out to the other, panicking “somethings wrong with Keith!” The other scramble over to them. Krolia quick to her son’s side while the others circle around.
Lance, seeing as Shiro is down, Allura is reeling from all that’s happened today, and Keith is the one is trouble, takes charge of the situation.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know. We were talking and then suddenly he just froze up”
He’s still breathing and doesn’t seemed to be in distress. He’s just frozen. He’s not responding the them in anyway.
Until suddenly he gasps. His eyes going wide and he’s whipping around trying to get his bearings. He’s breathing hard and Lance and Krolia moves to stabilize and support him.
“Keith! What was that? Are you okay?” Lance was trying to catch his friend’s eyes and Keith snapped his head to him and locks eyes.
“They’re going to earth! The Galra! They’re going to attack earth! They’re going to kill Adam!” His breaths are panic as he tries to communicate the horror of his vision.
Lance feels like the floor has open up below him. “What?”
After panic and confusion. Krolia explains the visions in the space whale. How they had been blasted with visions of both the past and the future.
Since they spent two years on the space whale, it must have warped Keith connection to quintessence. Add that to his natural sensitivity to quintessence and his connection to Voltron, which enhances his abilities. This equals to a Keith how now gets visions from the universe.
The group is quick to decide to head to Earth. Coran tells them it would take a year and a half to get there and the whole group is distressed. They don’t have that kind of time.
Lance remembers how they got up here. That the blue lion created a wormhole all on its own. No teladuv or working castle ship.
Allura has always wondered how that was possible since only an Altean should be able to open one and that in a lion it would take an incredible amount of power. Power she might have now but after saving Shiro she needs time to get that energy back.
Time Lance can’t imagine waiting. His family is in danger. That was the whole point of fighting this war. To keep his family safe. He looks at Keith, who is more shaken that Lance has ever seen (he’s hiding it well from the others but Lance has always been able to read Keith) and he knows that the vision was so much worse then Keith is telling them.
They have to get to earth now!
But he doesn’t know what to do. Everyone starts packing up. Wanting to get moving as soon as possible with the trip as long as it will be. Keith takes a moment to walk over to Lance.
“Lance. I was thinking about what you said. About the wormhole that brought us here in the first place.” Keith pauses trying to find the right words. “It was just us. No alteans, not castle, just you piloting Blue.” He pauses again Turing to look up at the red lion.
“You know Red’s always been over protective of her paladin. I think- I don’t know maybe if you reach out to her. She might be able to open a wormhole home.”
Lance looks at Keith in surprise. “Why don’t you ask Black then? Or Pidge and Green? Or Hunk and Yellow. I mean your all a lot better-” the then I am dying in his tongue as he looks down.
“What are you talking about. You’re an amazing Paladin, and you’re the only one who’s gotten a lion to one a wormhole before. Not even Allura can do that.” He moves forward to place his hand on Lance’s shoulder. “Just give it a chance. The worst that can happen is it doesn’t work. Besides if anyone can pull this off it’s you.”
“Thanks Keith.” Lance smile at Keith and goes to thank him when Keith’s eyes go all glassy again. “Keith?”
Moments later Keith snaps back to himself with a gasp. His body lurching forward as if someone just struck him. The hand on Lances shoulder tightening its grip as his form starts to tremble.
“Keith! What is it? What did you see?” Keith straightens up to lock eyes with Lance again.
“It’s Sendak. He’s the one attacking Earth.”
“Don’t you mean he’s the one who will be attacking Earth?” Lance asked as he placed his hands on Keith’s sides to steady his shaking friend.
“Lance” Keith looked so scared and vulnerable “on the whale I had visions of the future and the past. I have no clue which I’m seeing now.”
Lance felt ice flood his veins. “So everything you’re see could have already happened?”
Keith couldn’t meet his eyes anymore “yes”
Lance take a moment to feel the horror of this all. Earth could already be at Sendak’s mercy before pulling himself together. For his family, who needed him to come save them, and for Keith who must have seen something truly horrific in his vision.
“Then there’s no time to waste. Let’s go home.” He makes a split second decision to pull Keith in for a hug. “We’re going to save them.” There was no other option. Not for Lance. Not when he had sacrificed so much to keep his home safe.
They separate slowly, lingering in a moment not meant to stretch.
Then there is yelling. Something is wrong with Shiro’s pod. Lance can see the fear and anxiety flood Keith system. He gently cups Keith’s face drawling his focus back. “I’ll get the others ready to leave. Go take care of Shiro.”
It’s exactly what Keith needs. The stress of the last few hours. Lotor, Shiro, clones, the battle with Lotor, his visions, and now Shiro’s in trouble again. Lance stepping in to take weight from us makes it feel like he can breath a little.
Keith rushes off to Shiro begging him to fight, to stay alive.
Meanwhile Lance helps Hunk and Pidge ready to go. He checks in on Allura and Coran to make sure they are ready. He makes sure Romelle has a place to go, she’s riding with him. She had wanted to stay with Keith and Krolia but Black was pretty full with Keith, Krolia, the wolf, and Shiro’s pod. Lance offers her a ride. He understands that she’s the odd one out right now and boy does he know how that feels.
Once they know Shiro is going to be okay. They’re ready to take off. Lance takes a moment to breath. He focuses on his bond with Red. ‘Please. I need to get home. Please help me protect my family.’
Let us protect our pride, Son of A-
Lance misses what Red was about to say when he heared Romelle gasp. In front of them is a wormhole. Lance smiles in relief ‘Thank you’ he sends to his lion.
“Lance! You’re-” Romelle is gasping and pointing at his face. He had expected her to be pointing at the wormhole but she’s looking straight at him. “Altean!”
Lances brain short circuits for a second. “I’m what!!!!”
When Lance was talking to red and asking for a way home his cheeks started to glow with the altean marks. His family had Altean blood as some escaped to Earth to hide a few centuries ago.
They head back to Earth and get there just in time to join in on the first firefight with the Galra. There are still casualties but Adam is not among them. The damage to Earth is far less than it is in canon.
Adam and Shiro reunite and recover together.
It is still a long fight as Sendak is determined to take the planet and keeps coming no matter how many times they push him back until finally Shiro and Keith end him once and for all
Keith is still having visions. Some are of the pasts of the people around him. Some are glimpses of the future.
He and Lance finally figure themselves out a get together. While Lance is introducing Keith to his family Keith gets hit with a vision. Lance explains what’s happening as he holds Keith’s hand and waits for him to come back to himself. It doesn’t take more than a minute. Lance braces himself for some horrible news, but Keith jumps up and runs straight to the kitchen. Everyone wonders why until he opens the kitchen door just in time for a pan in the stove to ignite. Someone had left the stove on and now there is a fire. Keith puts it out with no panic or surprise. Once the fire is handled, Lance walks up to him. “So your vision…” -Lance “house fire”-Keith.
Needless to say the family finds him weird but endearing.
Everything is going well until one night Keith wakes up screaming. Hagar is still alive. And she’s going after the Alteans. And Allura is going to die.

“The Exoxins are very…” Coran purses his lips, searching for the word. “Particular, let’s say.”
Hunk cocks his head. “In what way?”
“They’re quite fixated on personal appearances. They have been known to refuse alliances in the past when diplomats don’t meet their… aesthetic expectations.”
Before Keith can make a slightly mean joke about keeping Shiro on the castle, then (it’s been too long since he has been humbled), Lance snorts. Without bothering to look up from his doodling, half slumped over his station on the bridge, he says, “Well, we better send Keefers. Only way we’ll get a guaranteed alliance.”
“Okay, asshole, real funn — wait.” Keith blinks. That’s not the insult he thought it was. “Did you just — are you flirting with me?”
Lance flicks brown eyes up to meet his, eyebrows raised, amused smirk on his face. “Have been for a year now, thanks for noticing.”
Keith’s jaw drops. He feels a blush climbing up his neck like he’s a fuckin’ kettle, boiling from the bottom up, because what.
“What.”
“Keith.” The rampant redness on Keith’s face must give Lance pause, because he finally turns his whole attention towards him, straightening up from his seat and facing him head on. “I thought you were just ignoring me. You’re telling me your dumb ass has just been — what, completely oblivious to it?”
“I’m not obvious,” Keith argues, strained. He’s well aware of the snickering behind him and chooses to ignore it. “Usually your flirting is horrible and obnoxious and gets you rightfully punched, so excuse me for not noticing.” He waits a beat, and then tacks on, “Or tied to a tree.”
He’s gratified to see Lance’s smug demeanour crack at the mention of the Nyma incident.
“That was four years ago, dipstick. I was seventeen. It doesn’t take away from the fact that you are so thick headed that you are incapable of taking a hint. Did you think I kept finding reasons to be shirtless around you for fun?”
Keith sputters. He had noticed that Lance was shirtless around him an awful lot, but in his defence he was putting his braincells more towards memorizing a broad back and a glittering belly piercing rather than, like, puzzling out why the fuck Lance wasn’t wearing a shirt.
“I thought you were — hot, or something!”
Lance grins wolfishly. “You think I’m hot?”
“Go fuck yourself!”
“Is that what you want to see?”
Keith makes a hoarse screeching noise in the back of his throat. It is echoed behind him, by all of his friends, actually, but for entirely different reasons, and he hates them all and they are all written out of his will.
Lance slowly stands from his seat, soundlessly stalking over to where Keith stands, leaning against a wall. Keith considers braining himself against a hard surface so he does not half to deal with Lance stupid sexy leer and sparkling eyes et cetera.
“‘Cause if it is,” Lance murmurs, placing a hand next to Keith’s head and leaning in close, “all you had to do was ask, baby.”
“I am going to kill you with fire,” Keith croaks.
Lance chuckles. “Sure, caliente.” He kisses Keith’s cheek and saunters back to his chair. Keith considers asking his lions to help him change his bayard into an anvil and chucking it at Lance’s face. It does not help his situation.
“Well,” Coran says awkwardly, after what can only be several minutes of charged silence. “the good news is that if we send you both that alliance is as good as guaranteed.”

Lotor, dude kissing at her feet is NOT going to make her take you back
She will not go back to you bro and you are NOT taking this breakup well
Also, totally unrelated
WHAT THE HECK IS ROMELLE’S HAIRSTYLE??
I got a good look at it and it’s like a braid crown that turns into two pigtails?
so Lotor to you don’t seem that peaceful and you just said you were gonna wipe out your entire race along with the three girls who’ve been there for you like every moment
😦 I had to cut out an entire part because I accidentally did talk to text and it was just a string of different obscenities
WHAT THEN HECK HE MADE AN EVIL VOLTRON
So Lotor’s eyes are looking a little crazy, has he seen a doctor cause he really needs to see a doctor maybe like a mental health professional
Poor Keith, ah poor Keith you got this man you got this I believe in you man you can do this
I think what he needs is like a good hug and maybe a beach day episode but he definitely needs a hug

oh my God this fight is so hype
Oh, let’s go
Their fights are always good with this one is legit awesome
And like seeing how well they work together now compared to how they did in the earlier seasons,
it’s amazing to see how far the characters have come as a team
It’s good that we can see how they’ve developed with their characters relationships along with how they fight
OK THAT IS SO NOT FAIR
That’s like totally cheating
Ok, he’s got to rake a dang chill pill or something like take a deep breath I’m so for real
how is this toad still alive? He should be dead 100 times over
OH LETS GOOOO
We got Voltron on steroids
OH you tell him guys you tell him
Oh shoot Lotor is gonna lose it for real now
It’s not that she fears using it, she just knows when it stop something you should probably learn.
OH MY GOSH, is she going to kung fu panda three him?
It’s ok Allura bad people can teach you how to do good things and it doesn’t make those things you learned bad it just means that you’ve learned something
oh my gosh he messed up universe like real bad
A supermassive black hole you say?
I apologize
oh dang, they gotta destroy the castle ship
Oh, this is so sad I never realized how beautiful the castle looked.
KALTANECKER
Don’t make me get all upset over a castle ship
because I will
Oh and what a stunning exit it has
It turned the entire castle into a singular diamond?
that’s crazy actually
Oh shoot, is she gonna like transfer his soul or something that’s crazy work
Is that way Shiro’s hair turns fully white? I honestly didn’t remember anything past like the first few episodes of this season.
WELL SHIRO’S BACK EVERYBODY LETS GOOOOO

I’m sitting by a trash can at the bus stop waiting for the bus for the past TWENTY minutes and I am also late to class (my own fault for going to the gym instead of heading to class early :/) SO ANYWAYS-
Voltron headcanons (realistic and college AU, also inspired by my own college misery):
- they’re all stem nerds. All of them. I know a lot of people HC them as liberal arts major which is great! but they are canonically astronauts (one part of canon that I like)
- Lance would be the kind of guy to be like “WE GOTTA HIT THE GYM EVERYDAY THIS SEMESTER RAHHHH” and then dip the second midterms start. Every single semester. Without fail.
- Keith found lectures useless since he could just “read the textbook”. He never showed up to a single class except for exams and somehow passed. He only stopped the habit when multiple friends scolded him for it.
- Coran would be in twenty different clubs. Correction: he would be PRESIDENT of twenty different clubs. No one knows when he joined them. The clubs range from archery to competitive coding to mental health awareness. (“Hey Coran are u free tonight?” “No sorry, the Roleplaying Ancient Romans club is having a bake sale tonight” “the what-)
- hunk would do a LOT of volunteering. He’s probably cook for shelters but I can also see him tutoring underprivileged kids in engineering :)
- Pidge would have a surprising amount of school spirit. Not bc she likes the college or the sport. She just wants to hate on the other teams. Also if her tuition is going to the football coach’s salary, she might as well be passionate about it.
- Allura is a triple major. Maybe even a quadruple major?? She’s the girl you see constantly stressing about their schedule. “Okay so should I take this class…that makes me have eight classes total all back to back” “WHAT” “what if I did a minor in psychology?” “Allura how tf are you going to fit that in there”
- Shiro is a TA (teaching assistant) for calculus or physics or something. Because the world hates him it’s an eight am class where the professor teaches wrong content and then dumps twenty hours of grading on him. “So you find the derivative under the curve” “Professor that’s not-“ You will never see him without a coffee.
- Hunk has beef with the Dining halls. They don’t season their food and they don’t even have much to begin with. On the other hand, Lance practically lives there. He’s making the most of the meal plans he paid for.
- At least he sticks to tastier things. Keith, who also practically lives at the dining hall, will eat salt and pepper chicken four times a day (“it’s protein”)
- it’s how Keith and Lance have had most of their meals together. Notably, also alone.
- aside from living at the dining hall, Keith also lives at the gym. This explains why he’s never at class.
- pidge has a car on campus. It’s Matt’s car or whatever. Not only can she not park for her life, she also can’t stop getting parking tickets. She uses the tickets as wall decor for her dorm.
- Lance skateboards. He’s pretty good at it. He’s only fallen twice, and both times had been in extremely public settings. Once was in front of a bus stop with fifty people. He tried teaching Coran how to skate and Coran accidentally slipped and launched the board towards the main road.
- Pidge plays clash royale in class. Shiro roasts her for it but then secretly also plays word games in class
- on top of having four majors, Allura also has four internships??? Everytime she posts about something that seems relaxing, it’s misleading. She’ll post herself getting drinks and SIKE it’s a networking event. She’ll be going hiking SIKE it’s a colleague bonding trip. Girl cannot take a break.
- Keith hates frats. Even educational ones with job opportunities. Even if he knows all frat boys aren’t shitty, he refuses to budge on his stance
- Shiro is the kind of guy you’d be talking to and ten people come up to him to say hi. Everyone knows him. Even if he doesn’t know them.

pspspspsps Voltron rewrite stuff pspspspsps
————-
A steady hum filled her ears, her heart racing in her cold and stiff body, her vocal chords no longer raw from the cries and pleads that still echoed in her skull, reverberating and filling her with a sense of dread.
A cold burst of air surrounds her with an explosion of sound, too loud and too unfamiliar to her. It sounds like shouting— it sounds like—
A “Please!” bursts forth from her mouth, her body collapsing, her limbs still heavy and hard to move. The shouting comes to a stop, and something- someone catches her. For a tic, she sees jewel coloured eyes reflecting back at her, the same as her own, but it’s gone just as quickly.
Her heart drops in her chest, but she forces herself to swallow it down and to act as her Father taught her. Still, she can’t help the way her eyes narrow in distrust at the alteanoid that still holds her steady.
“Who are you?” Is her first question. Dark blue eyes blink at her, a furrow in his brow appearing along with a smirk that pulls at his concerningly blank cheeks. “Where am I?”
His mouth moves first, words in a language she is wholly unfamiliar with being spoken at her before she can feel the tell-tale hum of her translator coming to life. “—name’s Lance—“
Whatever else the person before her is saying gets drowned out by the noise in her still waking mind. The stranger in front of her does not understand her. Her eyes scan the room, the other pod in the room all but a flashing beacon of cold hope in her peripheral vision.
Four other people in the room— staring at her with a look in their eyes that feels unreadable. Though they make no move to rush at her, she can still feel the echoes of explosions shaking her bones. They are intruders, a potential danger to everything she has vowed herself to protect. Whoever this group of people are, they’ve managed to force themselves through the guards, past her father, past—
It doesn’t matter that one of them looks to be a child. She cannot take any chances.
She rips her arms out of the stranger’s hold, kicking out her leg to knock them over and roughly put them into a restraining hold as they cry out in what Allura can only assume is shocked distress.
“Who are you?” She forces down any trace of shakiness in her voice, her words cutting through the air of the room like a sharp blade. Only one person puts their hands up in surrender. “What have you done to King Alfor? Why are you here?”
“We mean you no harm.” Says the man with his hands up, a scar across the bridge of his nose. He steps closer as the boy clad in red attempts to protest loudly, only to be cut off by the child loudly shushing him.
“Yeah! No harm!” The stranger wriggles in her hold, only stopping when she tightens her grip on his arm. “We come in peace!”
She cannot believe that these strangers would ask her to believe that— not when the universe is in the state it’s in.
“Who are you?” She repeats, a little louder this time. The scarred man steps closer yet again and speaks like he’s trying to placate her.
“We can’t understand you.” He says, gesturing to his mouth and speaking slowly, shaking his head. “Please— let him go.”
Allura swallows thickly, her heart rabbiting against her ribs as she looks over the group of people in front of her yet again. She cannot see any weapons on any of them, but that’s little reassurance. Allura knows that she is more than capable of fending for herself should they try and attack her, but it isn’t just her in the room. The quiet beeping of Coran’s pod reminding her of that with every pulse.
Coran. The look he gave her before she was forced into the pods is still fresh in her mind— it seemed to be something like regret. If it were just her, she wouldn’t back down, wouldn’t even think about relenting. But she has to think of her people. She has to think of Coran.
With a deep breath, she releases her grip from the person in her hold. He scrambles away, barely managing to right himself as he flees back to the group. The scarred man smiles at her, but Allura can see it for what it is, a wavering diplomatic expression. Fake.
“Thank you.” he says slowly. Allura can feel her brow twitch in annoyance, but she does her best to smooth it down. She can feel a tremor in her hands as she takes one of her earrings out and marches toward the scar-faced man, half translated protests coming from the group behind him. The man’s eyes widen as Allura grabs his hand and drops the earring inside of it.
“Put this on.” She tries to keep her voice steady as she points to her own ear. The man looks at her warily, before his eyes widen with a “Oh!” and he puts it on.
She steps back, standing as in front of Coran’s pod as she can without drawing attention to it, her blood still thrumming in her veins as she speaks again. “Who are you? How did you get here?”
The scarred man’s eyes widen, but he quickly schools his expression and squares his shoulders. He must be the leader of the group. She cannot let her guard down. “My name is Shiro. We came here in a… Blue Lion…?”
Allura’s nails dig into her palms, her breath stuck in her throat. There was no possible way that was true, it couldn’t be. None of the people in front of her were the Paladin of the Blue Lion, much less even an ally of Voltron. Something had to have happened— or…
She clenches her jaw. “How do you have the Blue Lion? What happened to its Paladin?”
“Paladin?” Shiro furrows his brow, confused. “I’m sorry- I don’t know what you’re talking about. Why don’t you tell us who you are? Maybe we can help.”
These people- they didn’t know— She couldn’t believe it, the only possible explanations would be that these people had managed to come here from some secluded corner of the universe, or…
“I am Princess Allura of planet Altea.” Do not waver, keep your head held high, she reminds herself. Shiro does not react to the name, does not have any glimmer of recognition in is eyes. Allura fears the worst, nausea burning at the back of her throat. She breathes out, doing her best not to show fear, show weakness, to these strangers in front of her. “I see.”
She steps toward the console, Shiro and the people he came here giving her wide berth as she places her hand upon the screen.
“Okay, so — how it works.” Says the child, leaning forward slightly to get a closer look.
“Hey! Don’t get so close! We — friendly or —-“ Is whispered quietly from one of the others. Allura frowns to herself, it seems that giving one of her earrings to their leader has compromised her translation device. She pressed her hand on the screen again, the lights in the room growing brighter while the noise of their chatter grows clearer, though delayed.
It’s the least of her concerns, however, as she watches Coran’s pod open with her nerves buzzing beneath her skin. The conversation dies down yet again as Coran stumbles out of the pod, looking disoriented before he immediately pulls into a combat position.
“Enemy combatants!” Coran cries out, still delirious from the pod. He staggers a few steps before lunging toward the person that had caught her earlier.
“Woah— hey!” The blue eyed boy side steps Coran, putting his hands out in front of himself in a poor imitation of a combat position. Allura feels her heart drop further. “What the hell?!”
Coran rights himself. “Quiznak! You’re lucky I have the old ‘Sleep Chamber Knees’. Otherwise I would’ve grabbed your head like this—“ Allura tunes him out, her pulse louder in her ears as she tries desperately to see how long it’s been. Everything else fades into an incessant buzz in the back of her mind.
The boy— he hadn’t any combat experience. That was clear. Their leader didn’t recognize her name, didn’t recognize the name of her planet.
Everything stops when she pulls up the information from the pods. The number is staggering, impossible, and yet she knows it couldn’t be wrong.
“It can’t be.” Her hand covers her mouth, her ears ringing in the silence that her words bring. A gloved hand falls on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. She can’t help but feel a little betrayed.
“What is it, Princess?” Coran’s voice is tense. Allura looks at him, at his weary face, and she knows instantly that he didn’t know how long it had been. How long it would be.
“We’ve been asleep for 10,000 decapheobes.”
Flashes of faces flood her mind, people she’ll never see again, never get to hold again. She can still feel how the castle shook with each explosion under her feet.
“Altea… it’s gone.” The words burn like embers in her mouth, she feels dizzy. “Our entire civilization, gone.”
Coran freezes, becoming stiff as she grips the console. The strangers in the room have the decency to not interrupt, and Allura prays to a god that she knows hasn’t been worshiped in more than a millennia that this is a dream brought on by the cryo-pods.
The cool metal of the console digging into her skin and threatening to split it open tells her it’s not.
Grief and anger flood her as she remembers everything that happened before she was tricked into the cryo-pod, fueling her to stay standing.
“Zarkon.” She spits out like a curse. There’s a sharp breath behind her and when she looks, she see’s that Shiro’s face has grown pale.
“Zarkon…?” He echoes, and the boy in the red jacket looking at him with a complicated expression. “I… I know that name.”
At this, Allura pauses, her chest growing cold. “How?”
Shiro looks past her into nothing, gripping his right hand into a fist. “I think… I think I was his prisoner.”
“He’s still alive?” Allura’s heart twists in her chest. All those lives, all the people she loved gone. But yet that scum of a man remained? “Impossible.”
“I can’t explain it— but it’s true.” He takes a deep breath, seemingly ignoring the searching look that the boy beside him is giving him. “He’s searching for this super weapon called Voltron.”
Voltron. The defender of legend that her father brought to life, the name echoed in stories told when she was young. The beacon of hope. Her last hope.
“He is searching for it because it is the only thing that can defeat him.” She forces her hands to unclench, not allowing the tears that burn her eyes to fall forth as the crown laid on her forehead weighs heavier than any legacy. “Which is why we must find it before he does.”

windows of opportunity
in which lance is a disaster romantic and misses every opportunity to ask you out
masterlist
pairing: lance x reader
tags: fem! reader, disaster romantic lance, blue paladin lance, oblivious reader, oblivious lance too, reader isn't a paladin she just, like, helps(?), very very tiny bit of angst, happy ending, fluff, mutual pining, flirty banter, no use of y/n, lance calls reader ‘pretty’ as a nickname, cheeky little taylor swift reference if you squint.
notes: as a huge hopeless romantic, missed opportunities with a happy ending and mutual pining but thinking the other doesn't reciprocate is my obsession. i also know i said the first one would be keith but then i thought of this and it fit lance more i think.

“Rise and shine, work hard, carve out your name, Take aim, pull the trigger, hit the bulls eye for fame, Know the value of faith, an' family, and don't you complain, Open wide, your windows of opportunity" — Kate Denson's "Windows of Opportunity”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To say that Lance liked you was an understatement. He was obsessed. Not crazy obsessed, but obsessed in the way that you consumed his every thought.
Luckily this didn't extend to during fights, but even then he would still be acutely aware of where you were at all times, making sure he could hear your voice over the comms, often talking over Coran just to flirt with you.
You were no different. Having known Lance since before joining the Garrison, your feelings for him have come and gone repetitively. Each time you'd confide in Pidge, declaring that you were over him after seeing him treat someone else the same way he treats you, claiming that he'd only ever see you as a friend, he'd do something that would make you retract anything bad you'd ever said about him.
Yours and Lance's feelings were obvious to everyone and it bewildered them how you both thought they were one sided.
Tumblr media
The kitchen was quiet, Hunk, Keith and Pidge holding conversation while each did their own thing: Hunk baking, Keith tracing his blade and Pidge on her computer. Peaceful.
"What if I say something and she thinks I'm weird and never talks to me again?"
Keith and Pidge immediately groaned while Hunk remained silent, watching as Lance walked past all three of them, interrupting their conversation and train of thoughts. He threw himself onto a chair at the table across from Pidge who had already gathered her things and gotten up to leave. "Nope, not dealing with this again," she said as she left.
"She already thinks you're weird, I'm surprised she still puts up with you," Keith says from the spot next to where Pidge was. Lance glared at him in response, ignoring him.
"I think you should just try. If her face when she looks at you is anything to go off, I'm pretty sure she likes you too." It was a usually useless statement that was many times returned with "You're lying," or "I would've noticed." This time however, Lance turned to face Hunk and instead said,
"I was on my way to ask her out just now but she was training with Shiro and was in a zone and I didn't wanna disrupt that cause- where are you going?" Lance cut his rant off with a question directed at Keith who was leaving the kitchen.
"To train," was all he replied with.
"So you're finally going to do it? Why are you in here then?" Hunk asked.
"Yeah I am. I'm sick of wondering if she feels the same so I'm just gonna ask. I've never had a problem with it before so why should I now?"
From there, Lance vowed to himself that he would ask you out as soon as possible. He didn't want to spend any more time not being able to call you his than he had to.
Tumblr media
You heard your name being called from down the corridor as you made your way to the showers. Training with Shiro was one thing, training with Shiro and Keith was another when you weren't out in the field anywhere near as often as them. It also didn't help how Keith had mentioned he had come to you two to escape Lance's apparent rambling about you. It had thrown you off and to make up for it and stop Shiro's teasing, you had put even more effort in than you normally would.
Turning around, you saw Lance running to catch up to you. Despite wanting to turn and make a run for it to the showers to avoid any embarrassment, you stopped and waited for him to meet you.
Huffing slightly, Lance met up with you and stopped to take you in. You were beautiful. Even when you were clearly sweaty and exhausted. He had to shake his head slightly to keep his thoughts from turning dirty. "Finished training?"
"Yeah, was just heading to the showers, wanna join me?" you said with a smirk, knowing that your question could be taken a couple different ways.
Recognising your signature smirk you used whenever the two of you would 'harmlessly' flirt, Lance played along. "Of course."
"Was there something you wanted to talk to me about?" Lance froze up briefly. He had wondered if Keith had overheard him say that he was going to ask you out and had opened his big mouth to you. You quietened his thoughts by following up with, "You look like you wanna say something. If its to tell me I smell, I know, Shiro and Keith are not easy opponents."
"Yeah you do stink, but I hope you kicked Keith's ass." Lance joked. "Anyway, I just wanted to ask you the best way to ask someone out." Your smile dropped for a second before replacing it with a forced one. You knew he didn't like you and he wasn't yours to lose so why should you keep someone else from experiencing what you could only dream about.
"Oh, well, it depends who it is. Personally, I like when it's done in a way that shows the person really knows me, like with trinkets or using inside jokes as a way of showing their feelings rather than just saying it. Allura though, she'd probably like to be taken somewhere nice, so when you ask her out maybe do it on a planet with a nice skyline or sunset or something." You knew it had to be Allura he was planning to ask out. He'd been flirting with her ever since you all met her. It was only a matter of time. You felt the unwanted tears build up - you had to get away, and fast. "Oh look, we're at the showers, thanks for walking with me and good luck on asking Allura, I'm sure she'll say yes." You were out of sight in seconds.
Lance stood facing the door speechless and confused. Where did Allura come into this? Why were you so quick to leave? He had only asked how to ask someone in hopes to lead up to him actually asking but instead his window of opportunity had closed before he even let it open.
Tumblr media
His next window was clear. He had his speech planned out, knew exactly what he wanted to say and how. Now was the perfect opportunity. You were the only one on the bridge, sat in his seat seemingly just relaxing. Why you were doing that here instead of in the lounge he didn't know but he decided to ask later.
You hadn't noticed Lance's presence until you head a "Quiznack" be muttered under his breath as he tripped over his own feet, luckily managing to catch himself. You sat up and turned to face him. "Finally falling for me, Sharp-shooter?" you joked, internally cringing at the use of the word 'finally'.
If Lance had noticed your slip up, he didn't mention it. Instead, he rounded to the front of the chair you were in and dropped to sit on the floor facing you. "You wish. No. I just wanted to talk to you about something."
"How did it go with Allura?" Truthfully, you didn't want to know, but you were sure you'd hear about it from one of them soon enough so why not get it out of the way.
"How did what go with Allura?" The confusion on his face was obvious.
"You were gonna ask her our remember? You literally asked me how to do it like two days ago." You mirrored Lance's confusion.
"Oh." Silence. "Oh! No! I wasn't planning to ask her out! I actually wanted to ask you-" his voice, which was already turning very quiet was cut off by you sitting up and squinting at the window.
"What was that?" You asked yourself aloud. Lance mistook that as a question for him.
"I said-" he was cut off again when you quickly got up and ran to the window.
"Quiznack!"
"What?"
"Alert everyone. Get to your lions. Now."
At that, Lance looked outside to see multiple Galra ships appearing. He groaned internally. To you the groan was about having to go out and fight. For him, the groan was because yet another window of opportunity had shut.
Tumblr media
Keith really just wanted to lay down. Not necessarily sleep as that had never come easy to him, but he was exhausted. Instead he had to listen to you whine about how Lance doesn't share your feelings. When he had asked why you were coming to him about this you had said that everyone who wasn't Lance was busy and she didn't want to bother them. At that moment he wished you hadn't found him sat in the lounge. As much as he cherished you as a friend, he was quite frankly sick of hearing about Lance. When there was a knock at the door of his room, of which you had followed him into and immediately flopped onto his bed mid rant, Keith rolled his eyes and opened it. He was glad it had at least got you to be quiet since you also wondered who it was.
"Hey have you seen, oh hi pretty, Keith have you seen-" Lance stopped talking. When he'd said hi, he wasn't thinking, it was natural instinct. When he realised you were laid out on Keith's bed, his brain caught up to his mouth.
You, on the other hand, were blushing. It wasn't the first time Lance was calling you pretty. In fact it's what he called you 90% of the time. But it was the timing. You had just been complaining about how he doesn't think of you except from if he has to or if you're talking with him then he calls you pretty, offhanded. You were going insane.
"What's up?" Keith asked Lance, aiming a sly smirk at you as if he could tell you were going crazy over both seeing the person who was the main character of your rant and at the name said person had called you.
"Actually I was looking for her but if you guys are busy..."
Keith took this opportunity to both get rid of you so he can lie down and also get back at you for talking his ear off. "No, no, please, take her, I'm sick of hearing about you."
Lance ignored Keith's comment, turning to you, "Can we talk?"
Your eyes went wide as you sat up, your heart immediately dropping. Had you done something wrong? Had he overheard you talking about how much you liked him? Was this the end of your guys's friendship? You'd rather have him as a friend than nothing at all. You just nodded and said bye to Keith as you left his room.
The door closed within milliseconds of you leaving the room. It was just you and Lance now. Alone. "Come on," Lance smiled and started walking to his room.
Arriving in his room, Lance's nerves began to pick up. This was his chance. Again. He promised to himself that this is it. He wasn't going to let another interruption keep him from telling you how he feels.
Being in his room alone with him was nothing new, so why did you feel so nervous. "Come sit down, pretty." Lance patted the spot next to where he had just sat on his bed. You plastered a smile on your face and sat down.
"What's up? You never ask to talk, you usually just... do."
Lance let out a snort at that, giving you a pointed glance. "Oh and you don't?"
"I never said that."
The light hearted joking relaxed you - it's what you were used to between the two of you.
Your previous nerves about what Lance had to say dissipated as the two of you continued to joke together a little longer.
"Lance. You didn't come find me just to hang out. I know you. What's up?"
He had been putting it off, nerves creeping up the closer he came to confessing and so he sought comfort in your company as it was. Lance nodded and cleared his throat, turning to look in your eyes. "Every time I've tried to talk to you about this, something interrupts me: you rushing off to the showers, then the galra finding us. And then you thought I asked Allura out which is crazy because yeah she's-"
"Lance." You cut him off, not wanting to hear about how the princess of Altea was perfect and dreamy. "Come on."
"As I was going to say, before someone rudely interrupted, again-"
You laughed and stuck your tongue out at him quickly and jokingly.
"Hey! Anyway, yeah Allura is cool, I mean, she's a princess. But she isn't you." He paused, but realised how that could be taken, he continued, "I don't want Allura... I want you pretty girl. And it has taken me way too long to finally tell you. There have been so many missed windows of opportunity, and I refuse to miss any more. It's you. It's always been you, and I'm sorry I led you to believe otherwise."
You were speechless. A confession wasn't even on the list of things you had expected to come from this talk. The smile that grew on your face was unstoppable. Not trusting yourself to let out a happy squeal, you threw your arms around the man who had just told you he chooses you.
The sudden force took Lance by surprise, but he was fast to wrap his arms around your waist and fall back onto his bed, pulling you down with him. You lifted your head to look Lance in the eyes. Lance took this as his chance to finally make things official. "Will you be mine, pretty?"
The smile you didn't think could grow any wider, did. "I will always be yours, Loverboy Lance."
