imagine being manfred/redd white/gant and getting your ass handed to you by a teenager, some rookie lawyer, and said lawyer's childhood friend who hasnt even graduated high school

i feel like gumshoe is self conscious abt his scars and hes kinda nervous abt taking off his jacket in front of people he doesnt know/trust

so when he takes off his jacket in front of laurice for the first time hes nervous af meanwhile laurice has a heart attack bc HOLY SHIT HE STRONK

ok so basically i call it Partner!Laurice au and the premise is Larry, after The First Turnabout, is like "ok bro i dont have v much money so to pay you back ill help you out with your lawyer stuff"

so basically theres a lot more maya/larry friendship momence and stuff yeehaw

he also joins edgeworth in the investigations games because gumshoe pretty edgey is his friend too!!!

some notes n stuff

-he isnt ALWAYS with nick/edgeworth, sometimes hes off doing his own thing and runs into them (IE running his weenie stand in turnabout goodbyes and playing the steel samurai in turnabout ablaze

-hes completely absent from recipe for turnabout bc hes off becoming Laurice

-gumshoe was his bi awakening. the crush started after the rescue in Turnabout Samurai and has grown when you see him again in Turnabout Goodbyes

-the most adhd ass mf youll ever meet. same with gumshoe, maya and phoenix they all have adhd cause i said so

-will not hesitate to sass people he doesn't like

-REALLY doesnt like franziska bc she keeps whipping gumshoe and will frequently try to protect gumshoe when he can. he WILL catch that whip

-this au is unfinished bc i havent finished investigations 2 (im on case 4), nor have i seen AJ, DD or SOJ. so so far we have the trilogy, AAI and AAI2 cases 1-3 fully imagined(ish)

-laurice is a massive steel samurai fan like edgey and maya

-besties with kay and ray bc i said so. he also picks up the habit of calling ray "uncle ray"

-despite his airheadedness hes a decent investigator

-can and will ramble about art stuff at any opportunity

-gets REALLY pissed if you mess w his friends bc he loves them /p

-his self esteem isnt as low in this au because nick isnt a jerk to him after turnabout goodbyes and edgey is... less of a jerk

-fluffy hair that everyone wants to pet

-will also ramble abt mechanics maybe (at least what he knows)

-shares a braincell with gumshoe

-once he and pearl get to know each other they're practically inseparable

-very very very emotional. cried a lot during bridge to the turnabout

-yes he does in fact get to keep elise's staff

-he has glasses!!! and a liddle bi pride pin

-absolutely loves hugs. frequently knocks people over (unless they are small then he is gentle)

-he crushes SUPER easily but after turnabout samurai a lot of his crushes dont go anywhere bc. gumshoe is the perfect man

-thinks lang is both a huge jerk and cool af at the same time

-during recipe for turnabout, gumshoe gives phoenix a bag of gummies asking him to give it to larry, which actually does happen in BttT :)

-doodles A Lot

-does the flappy hands when hes happy!! :)

-a very blushy boy,,, he blushes when embarrassed, angry, happy, and around gumshoe

-everyone else watching gumshoe and laurice pine for 246465 years: ಠ︵ಠ

-larry CANNOT stand blood the smell makes him nauseous so investigating crime scenes can be difficult sometimes

After hurriedly coloring in his drawing of what he thought to be the lovely Iris flying over the burning Dusky Bridge, Laurice hurried over to said bridge to see what exactly had happened. There was also the fact he kinda just wanted to watch, seeing as this was a rare occurrence. He had already been woken up anyways, so why not?

However, he did not anticipate seeing his best friend show up. "Nick? What're you doing here?" Laurice questioned.

"I-I heard a loud boom! I came over here as quickly as I could!"

"Oh, yeah. That woke me up too. Ain't this kinda cool-looking, though? It's almost pretty in a way-"

"Maya's over there!"

"...Huh?" Laurice blinked, not entirely sure if he heard that right.

"I- I have to go after her!"

"Wait, dude, you can't!"

"Wh- Why the hell not?! She's our friend!"

"I know, and I'm worried too, but that bridge is on fir-!"

"Laurice, just get out of my way! I have to help her!"

"Dude, wait-!" He was cut off by Phoenix shoving him aside and running off onto the bridge.

Suddenly, a loud SNAP echoed through the area, as Laurice scrambled to his feet. Before he could react, Phoenix was falling. Screaming. Falling down to a deadly, raging river, screaming all the way down.

"PHOENIX!!" Laurice cried at the top of his lungs as he attempted to reach out and grab Phoenix's hand, desperate to save him.

But he was too late.

He stood up, the shock leaving him stunned for a few moments before he realized what was happening and he pulled out his phone, fumbling, trying to call 911 to help.

"H-hello?! I-I need help! My- my friend's- He- He fell! F-from Dusky Bridge! Into Eagle River! P-please come and help! H-he might be dying!" Tears poured from the artist's eyes as he went on to call his other best friend, figuring he should know as well.

"H-hey, Edgeworth. I-I'm sorry to be bothering you, b-but it's an emergency."

"It's INCREDIBLY late, Larry. What do you want?"

"I-it's about Phoenix. He fell."

"Fell? From where? Is he alright?!"

"F-from Dusky Bridge. I-I don't know what happened, b-but I already called the police..."

"I'll be over as soon as possible!"

"O-okay. Thank you, Edgey."

After that, Laurice simply decided to wander back to Heavenly Hall, figuring he might as well try to sleep. As he was walking back, he found a shiny purple ball, seemingly made of crystal. Completely oblivious to what it actually was due to being so tired and out of it, he decided to keep it since it looked pretty.

As Laurice walked back, he thought to himself, God, the past... Day? Days? However long it's been, it's been godawful. First Ms. Elise dies, and now Nicky might be dead too! And to top it all off, poor May-May's trapped on the other side of the broken bridge...

As he stepped back into the shack, he noticed the unfinished bag of gummies Gumshoe had gotten for him (which were given to him by Phoenix, for whatever reason). He figured he might as well try to eat something before sleeping, considering he had barely eaten ever since this all started. Honestly, he wished Gumshoe were here to comfort him and lull him to sleep.

After finishing off the bag of gummies he curled up in his little makeshift bed and at least attempted to drift off to sleep. He'd need it for tomorrow.

UHHHHH so i finally decided to start watching Apollo Justice again and i only just finished the 1st case but. apollo justice era partner!larry cause i felt like it

his sleep schedule deteriorated even further during the 7 year gap so he's constantly sleepy, and he's started carrying elise's staff by now. he also has gumshoe's jacket draped over his shoulders :)

-this boy absolutely MELTS at physical affection. please give him hugs

-all of his friends receive nicknames. some of them are very stupid

-he is. very unhealthy. its a miracle this guy is still alive /j

-a non-laurice related thing but. i imagine gumshoe has a lot of scars from various things bc. yknow. hes been thru some shit. he has a bunch of hand n wrist scars from a rose bush

-laurice and gumshoe are consistently tired af. their sleep schedules are fucked

-he has the same reaction every time someone compliments him which is "really?? 🥺🥺🥺"

ngl partner!laurice au is literally just my ideal version of events bc A. laurice became my favorite like immediately and i wanted more of them and B. capcom fucking sucks at writing him post-AA1

like. i imagine that for a while edgeworth doesn't like feeling vulnerable so he doesnt always talk to them but laurice is like "no its ok take ur time edgey!!! :)" cause he knows the shit edgeworths been thru and never pushes his boundaries (if he does it's not on purpose cause he doesnt wanna hurt his friend)

and laurice always tries to be there for edgeworth (and all their friends, really) whenever they can cause he's always willing to help (which is why he's there so often in the au- he wants to help all his buddies)

they probably do poke fun at each other sometimes still but it's not malicious and theyre just goofing

anyways theyre besties <3
