This is great and pretty exact to how we experience things as a system with multiple kintypes as well! How delightful to find a post on the intricacies of it! If it's okay, we'd like to add some more crossover experiences of ours also!!
Median: A system where their experience is betwewn multiple and singlet. Median members will often feel like facets of the same/a similar overarching identity. They may have less differentiation between them, but are still separate in their own ways.
Facet: A common name for a member of a median system. Facets will often feel less differentiation than partitionary headmates and an inherent connection to other members of their median collective.
Subsystem: A system within a system, or a system member that has their own headmates connected to them in their own smaller grouping. (Think of Russian nesting dolls?) Subsystems often will share a mental form and switch on their own schedule unrelated to front.
Kinform: A system member whose source is another member's kintype. They could be any origin, including traumagenic, exotraumagenic, kingenic, phoenigenic, phoenitraumagenic, and more.
So let's line out some stuff!
Some system members we have are:
The Prism Subsystem πŸŒ•, a median subsystem consisting of 16 median members. We'll be focusing on:
Lucis 🌌
Akira ❀️
Twilight πŸ“š
And some other members outside of the Prism:
Akira - Let's call him Joker rn πŸƒ
Badeline 😈
Akutagawa πŸŒ™
Amethyst πŸ’œ
πŸŒ• The Prism subsystem has many, many collective kintypes, all spiritual and all shared between all subsystem members. (this is because we share a soul! Not all median systems do.) These include: Moonlight Cookie (Cookie Run), Joker/Protagonist (Persona 5), Link (TLoZ), Twilight Sparkle (MLP:FiM), Blueberry Pie Cookie (Cookie Run), Ryunosuke Akutagawa (BSD), and Chara (Undertale).
πŸƒ Joker's kintypes include SIX iterations of "Joker" from Persona 5, as well as Chara (Undertale).
😈 Badeline's kintypes include demonkin, Marceline (Adventure Time), Susie (Deltarune), Chara (Undertale), Amethyst (Steven Universe), Lychee Dragon (Cookie Run), and more.
πŸŒ™ Akutagawa's kintypes include three iteratuons of himself from BSD, as well as Jinx/Powder (Arcane), Shiragaki/Tenko (MHA), and Blueberry Pie Cookie (Cookie Run).
πŸ’œ Amethyst just formed and hasn't identified any kintypes as of yet.
Now we can go through some examples of what that means for the system.
The Prism πŸŒ• subsystem is all their kintypes at once, but different facets will find themselves "closer" to kin shifts of different kintypes. For example, Lucis 🌌 is very close to Moonlight Cookie, Akira ❀️ is very close to Link and Chara, and Twilight πŸ“š is very close to Blueberry Pie Cookie. It's much easier to fall into a kinshift that aligns with whatever facet is fronting.
In other words, when Akira ❀️ switches to Lucis 🌌, the Prism πŸŒ• may find that the feelings of their kintype as Moonlight are more intense than before.
However, when one kintype becomes too intense for some systems, they might find themselves with a kinform. This member is different from a kintype in that they now have their own autonomy and agency as another headmate.
Akira ❀️ is a manifestation of the Prism's πŸŒ• Akira Kurusu/Joker kintype. They're experienced more intensely than a kin shift and with a greater separation, with a different gender, perspective, opinions, and capabilities than the rest of the Prism πŸŒ•. This goes doubly for Twilight πŸ“š, whom is a kinform of a kintype Lucis 🌌 previously felt most intensely until they separated into median members. Both Akira ❀️ and Twilight πŸ“š have been here since school age, and being facets of the Prism subsystem lets them be themselves and what they're required to be for system functions at the same time.
While the Prism πŸŒ• can still be kin shifted to these particular kintypes without being in the corresponding facet, it's much more likely they'll experience a full facet shift instead.
This can happen outside the subsystem as well, and not all kinforms consider themselves median. Joker πŸƒ is another manifestation of the Prism's πŸŒ• Akira Kurusu/Joker kintype, that split for separate reasons. He considers himself only tangentially connected to the Prism πŸŒ•, but partitionary in function. His kintypes include the past lives we share, and will often joke that he "kins himself".
Badeline 😈 has many psychological kintypes, and experiences kin shifts separate from the main fronter like most, but only recently has she ended up with her own kinform, Amethyst πŸ’œ. The two are median, but not in a subsystem- they share an inherent connection and tend to front together, which can feel weird for other fronting members that don't kin Amethyst!
Akutagawa πŸŒ™ shares a sourceself with one of the Prism's πŸŒ• kintypes, but he is his own entirely separate headmate, unrelated to their kintypes. He has a separate identity and separate kintypes, of which he sees spiritually as well.
That isn't to say partitionary members' kintypes can't influence each other. Chara (Undertale) is on most of these lists, which means that when one or more members are in a Chara kinshift, there's a good chance they'll pull in others that're Chara otherkin as well, and multiple people will now be in this collective shift in front. If Badeline 😈 and Joker πŸƒ are both in a Chara kin shift, it will be pretty hard for the Prism πŸŒ• in front to avoid falling into that shift as well.
To echo what was said above, we're open to additions, commentary, questions, anything like that! And thank you again OP for making this post!
Sinister System terminology, differences in fronting vs shifts
Some people seemed interested in our internal experience, so I've written up a little bit of a guide to help it make sense.
system member: a distinct person/soul who is one of many sharing this body.
kintype: the identity of a soul during a particular lifetime experience.
kin source: the media in which a kin life/kintype is reflected.
kin shift: a particular system member experiencing a greater psychological, emotional, and/or spiritual state where they are embodying a particular kintype in the present moment. A sort of psychological/emotional/spiritual regression to or manifestation of a specific kintype's traits and experiences.
collective shift: when several different system members are experiencing a kin shift to their various personal identities during the same source lifetime.
fronting/taking the front/switching: A particular system member takes control of the body. A fronting member experiences the direct sensory input from the body, has a distinct internal monologue which is 'louder' than the internal thoughts of members who are not fronting, has primary control over the actions and reactions of the body.
Sinister system:
Has roughly 25 distinct system members
Each system member has around 19 kintypes in addition to their overall personal singular identity.
A system member may be experiencing a particular kin shift at any given time. Often multiple system members are in a collective shift.
Let's walk through some abbreviated examples.
Some sinister system members are
😼πŸ”ͺ (Jas)
πŸŒ€πŸ˜Ž (Akechi)
πŸ”βš”οΈ (Kirigiri)
Each of these system members shares the same kin sources. They experienced several lifetimes in which they were born and interacted with separate identities in the same world.
Some of their kin sources are: Homestuck, Danganronpa, Resident Evil, and Great Ace Attorney.
That means that each distinct system member has a kintype that aligns with each source.
😼πŸ”ͺ Jas' kintypes are: Vriska Serket (Homestuck), Toko Fukawa (Danganronpa), Karl Heisenberg (Resident Evil) and Yuujin Mikotoba (Great Ace Attorney)
πŸŒ€πŸ˜Ž (Akechi)'s kintypes are: Cronus Ampora (Homestuck), Nagito Komaeda (Danganronpa), Albert Wesker (Resident Evil), and Kazuma Asogi (Great Ace Attorney)
πŸ”βš”οΈ (Kirigiri)'s kintypes are: Dave Strider (Homestuck), Kyoko Kirigiri (Danganronpa), Tyler Howard (Resident Evil), and Barok Van Zieks (Great Ace Attorney).
When πŸ”βš”οΈ (Kirigiri) is fronting, that means that πŸ”βš”οΈ is the person primarily processing data from the body's senses, making decisions, acting using the body, and experiencing a loud inner monologue.
When πŸ”βš”οΈ (Kirigiri) is fronting, πŸ”βš”οΈ is still Dave Strider, Kyoko Kirigiri, Tyler Howard, and Barok Van Zieks all at once, because these are all lives that πŸ”βš”οΈ has experienced. He has access to the emotions and memories relevant to all of his kintypes, and they all motivate him to a greater or lesser degree.
However, if/when πŸ”βš”οΈ is experiencing a particular kin shift, then the experiences, emotions and memories relevant to that particular shift will be dominate over his other experiences while he's experiencing the shift.
So for example, in a Homestuck kin shift πŸ”βš”οΈ will act more like Dave Strider, because his thoughts, memories, emotions and preferences will be more closely aligned with who he was during that time, and the experience of his other lives will still be present, but have less priority over his actions and thoughts. His experience as Dave will have more immediate relevance to whatever he's doing, and will be experienced more heavily and as if it were more current than his other lives.
If the system is in a collective Homestuck shift, then it means that πŸ”βš”οΈis in a Dave shift, πŸŒ€πŸ˜Ž is in a Cronus shift, and 😼πŸ”ͺ is in a Vriska shift, all at the same time. The lifetime of Homestuck is most immediately relevant to the entire system if we're experiencing a collective Homestuck shift.
However, not everyone is always in a collective shift. There are times where πŸ”βš”οΈ is in a Dave/Homestuck shift, but 😼πŸ”ͺ is in a Toko/Danganronpa shift, etc.
We are open to answering any questions, clarifying or otherwise that people might have about our experiences.
