Is it actually more iffy legally to make money off of fanfic than fanart? Because I'm starting to wonder if maybe that might actually be more of a community norm than anything.

#partially rhetorical because i intend to google more about this in a second #its hard for me to imagine that the actual laws are being terribly specific about longform writing v drawn images v comics etc #is it just that authors are historically more litigious or is it just that its easier to slot images into fair use/parody at a glance #or is this just slightly made up bc of the divergent evolution of fic & art comms.
