This little piece, "Stay Alive" is currently included in @martinmachado ’s amazing solo show Hove To at @parklifesf ! In addition to his beautiful ocean going paintings on display he also made a little bunk room at sea complete with bed, porthole with video , and a display of work from other artists in the community with ties to the ocean. I grew up on the central Oregon Coast in Newport, and ocean imagery has long been a recurring theme in my work. This piece was made for an altered matchbook show a few years ago and I'm delighted it was given a chance to spend some time hanging out in Martin's show! Super bummed I had to miss the opening due to a nasty migraine (which is it's own kind of trip to the Land of the Dead) but hope to get over to check it all out ASAP! Strangely, the book I designed with David Reinfurt @_o_r_g for my survey show at @sfmoma is emerging now, but the show, which was also supposed to open this month, is postponed until 2021. David and I gathered over 450 images and created several original typefaces. There are texts by Jenny Gheith, Linda Dalrymple Henderson and Joseph Becker.
