▸▸sure looks an awful lot like park yeeun (ha:tfelt). ⤷ 28 years old. fauna class. apothecary owner.

specialty: gaeul can manipulate plant toxins, either drawing them out or amplifying them in potency. changing the structure of a toxin also allows her to heal, which is what she normally does for her apothecary. while she has a stronger tolerance, she isn’t completely immune and is also only able to manipulate the toxins with an existing source, unable to create her own.

my past? about that…

- moon gaeul is raised in a woman-only household composed of her mother, her two aunts, and her grandmother. her father is out of the picture as soon as her mother gives birth to her. growing up, that absence never bothered her one bit. not when she knew her family could provide more than her biological father ever could. - they are all of different magic classes. fauna, celestial, inferno, sky. it made for a relatively chaotic upbringing in the moon household, where the women were already chaotic to begin with — though not necessarily in a bad way. - the moon women run an apothecary below their apartment in seoul. it didn’t begin there though. the apothecary’s roots trace back to jeju island, where her great grandmother started it. gaeul spends the afternoons after class helping out in the shop, growing just as attached to it as her family. - grandma passes away during her senior year. she’s never really known loss like this and isn’t too sure what to make of it when all that’s left behind of the matriarch is a bonsai tree. - auntie seul fucks up a few months after that and accidentally burns the tree. for some reason, gaeul was expecting for it to just come back to life because surely grandma’s spirit will live on longer. but instead, it remains dead. - later that night during dinnertime, she offhandedly mentions that grandma ditched them for the afterlife because she couldn’t stand the noise. her mother smacks her lightly on the back of her head. she smacks her sister as well, though not as lightly. they’re both stuck on dish duty. - it’s great timing really. an unfortunate death but great timing nonetheless because gaeul is declared to be a fauna magic class user two weeks later, saving her mother and her aunts the struggle of learning how to replicate grandma’s recipes with their non-fauna magic. - fast forward ten years and gaeul is all alone, running the apothecary by herself. kidding. auntie seul, the youngest of the three women, is still around sometimes. they all still moved out though, leaving the apartment upstairs to her. that is, if moving two blocks down actually counts as moving out. because if you ask gaeul, it doesn’t.

Wonder Girls released their last song Draw Me at midnight on February 10. Yeeun & Yoobin wrote the lyrics, thanking the fans who supported them for a decade. JYP Entertainment had announced their disbandment on January 26: "Yoobin & Hyelim renewed their contracts & will take on new challenges in music, acting & emceeing. After much thinking, Yeeun & Sunmi decided to forge new paths & have sadly left the agency."

2NE1, who officially broke up on November 26 last year, also bid farewell with Goodbye on January 31.

Goodbye climbed to 34th on the U.S. iTunes chart & sold more than I Am The Best. Post-release, Draw Me immediately topped four music charts & was runners-up in two more.

The two girlgroups left giant music footprints. Wonder Girls's Why So Lonely is a Song Of The Year candidate in the 2017 Korean Music Awards. Wonder Girls's Reboot was also a Best Pop Album candidate in 2016, making them the only girlgroup nominee in two consecutive years. 2NE1 received the Best Dance/Electronic Album award in 2011.

Korea's two representative girlgroups were also international pioneers. In 2009, Wonder Girls's Nobody was the first song to enter the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (ranking 76th). In 2014, 2NE1's Crush reached 61st on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Both of them were representative Girl Crushes as well. 2NE1 ushered a new girlgroup concept that eclipsed all the common girlish & sexy motifs. Their exceptional choreography & fashion style were beloved by female audiences. Wonder Girls, who started out girlish, also became a role model for younger girls as they gradually matured.

Music critic Cha Woo-Jin regarded the two girlgroups as "the turning point in the musical & industry facets of Kpop idol groups". Still, they broke up in the same year. #Wonder Girls (2007-2017)

1. The entire country dancing to Tell Me in 2007: Tell Me was the title track of Wonder Girls's first regular album The Wonder Years. Every household were clasping hands behind backs, gently swaying the shoulders, & patting their cheeks during the Omona part. Uniformed soldiers were emulating uniformed schoolboys. The term UCC (User-Created Content) became commonplace as everyone uploaded their dance video on the Internet. Starting in September, the song went on to top the music charts for three months.

2. Performing with Stevie Wonder at the UN Day concert in 2012: Wonder Girls, who had advanced to America, went onstage to help celebrate the 67th anniversary of the United Nations at the UN headquarters in New York. Stevie Wonder, Sting & Paul Simon were also on the show. Wonder Girls sang What The World Needs Now Is Love with Stevie Wonder.

3. Releasing their self-composed comeback album in 2015: Many people discovered Wonder Girls's true potential in their Reboot album. Sohee declined to take part after switching to acting. Sunmi put aside her solo career & rejoined. They reorganized into a 4-member group & reemerged playing music instruments. Except for the title track, the rest of the album featured their own compositions.

4. Conquering the charts with the Why So Lonely mini-album in 2016: Why So Lonely, released in July, was the most popular digital song in the third quarter of last year. The Wonder Girls members weaned themselves from Park Jin-Young & wrote their own title track. It was a path no other girlgroup had walked before.

1. Fire debut stage in 2009: 2NE1 won their first girlgroup trophy with Fire. It was the moment when they lived up to all the preceding hype surrounding their Lollipop collaboration with Big Bang.

2. MTV USA picking them as Best Newcomer in 2011: 2NE1 took their unique style & potential to the world stage. Their first Japanese mini-album Nolza topped the Oricon weekly charts. They won MTV Iggy's Best New International Act poll in 2011, & got to perform at New York's Times Square.

3. I Am The Best in 2011. I Am The Best was the second single from their mini-album. Over 40,000 participants took part in the dance cover contest on Youtube. It was also used as Microsoft's advertising music, & recently exceeded 170 million views.

4. Reconvening in 2015: The full group finally reunited one year & four months after ex-member Park Bom was suspended from all activities. At the Mnet Asian Music Awards, they thrilled the audience by performing Fire & I Am The Best. It turned out to be their last stage together.
