Any thoughts on Chris’s latest interview??
I assume you mean this one?
youtube
I have not watched it so.... let's live blog, shall we?
I appreciate that he got his hair to stand up on all sides. Looking good Chris ;)
Basics on Chris? I totally guessed his expertise would be related to the paranormal. I completely forgot about the British History love of his, so I'm so not surprised there.
I really was waiting with baited breath to hear if he'd say llamas were his least favorite animal, lol. (Oh god, a lot of you weren't around when he claimed he liked llamas because he said he was a social llama and ended up getting a room full of stuffed llams, lol)
Oh my god, off of Diet Coke? What even?? Also, guys. Don't kill me. Don't revoke my Chris fan card. While I'm glad that he went back into acting - I have no desire to see that film he just made. It sounds like... not my cup of tea. (sorry :( )
The 'who are you' quiz section was super cute. I do love that he gives us little bits into his daily live and world and something that has just not changed is his sharp wit. I have always been a fan of his humor.
Chris's high school experience - I mean he's talked about this a lot over the years. A lot. But the thing that sticks out is this evolution of being okay with it. When he was first on Glee - it was STILL a big trauma. Which makes sense because instead of going to college, Chris went straight from HS to Glee, and omg, what an insane thing to do.
The getting into Glee stuff is... stuff I've heard before. But always glad to hear him speak on it, and again, glad he's in such a better place in life that he can reflect without the being traumatized part. The stuff about his current auditioning is interesting. He admits he doesn't really anymore unless he really wants to... and I'm guessing not really much has come his way that he really wants to do. I have a feeling that he probably won't do a whole ton of acting moving forward, but you never know.
Chris talking about his coming out on Chelsea Handler, lol... I love that he can reflect about being 18, and how differently choices are made when you're that young. But I also love (and get, and my god sometimes still I remember why he's the only celebrity whom I've ever felt was actually a bit like me in thought process) the fact that he was like - I'm gonna try to do this once and never deal with it again. And have it, like, become a bigger ordeal than he could have ever imagined.
I love though, also, that his story is also being contextualized through a queer lens. And, I mean, I felt this way when he was talking with Kevin about their joint experiences -- I'm so, so glad Chris has these queer spaces to have these conversations, because there's a level of knowledge and awareness and perspective you don't get from straight media.
(He took his shoes off, how cute, lol. Also this interview knows, like, nothing about Glee. Fascinating.)
"I would rather be the unicorn in the room than the elephant." -CHRISTOPHER!!! This quote is fantastic.
Getting into the conversation of activism, and how queer culture and community was still very different back in 2009-10 then it is now. And I mean, it's come a long LONG way since I was in high school back in the 90s. We've come a long way in the past fifteen years, even if the asshats in charge are trying to push everyone back to the 50s (or really the 30s :P) Anyway, some great queer history embedded in this.
The conversation about fame being his protection back then is fascinating. Also, how he calls himself ugly (back then). Oh Christopher.
He talked to Shirley MacClaine about aliens. Because of course he did. I love him.
OOhhh, Chris loved every guest star except for one. Any guesses who? (Honestly - I have no idea. so this is a fascinating new tidbit. Perez Hilton? Lol - Chris didn't work him though.)
Also more interesting things to think about - Chris getting a lot of the spotlight early on created resentment. (I wonder if it was Lea... Hmmm.)
Mr - I'm never getting married - actually mentioned that at some point he and Will probably will get married. Don't know if that was kind of a deflection from this dude assuming or if he's changed his mind. But, I mean, c'mon, in any capacity we all know he and Will consider each other done and locked in for life, which Chris basically confirms. (Awww - I love Will.)
Oh god, talking about the tinhatters. Chris, thank fuck for finally talking about this more openly and explicitly. And guys, I told you. I TOLD YOU that this shit happened.
THE HAIR STORY! HE'S TELLING THE HAIR STORY! No, guys, this was almost like urban legend stuff, but yeah, there were rumored instances of people sending hair to Will (and to Mia) and he actually talks about this. Oh my god, I'm laughing (though my god this was not funny at the time)
Oh, god, he thinks there were 100,000 CCers. No. There weren't. That seems too high. The people who were actually crazy were a very, very small number -- who made an unfortunately huge impact.
Oh. God. Also. He is NOT talking about Darren when he talks about people who are still in the closet. He's just not.
Oh for the love of fuckery, this host is just... he had to take a college course to discover fanfiction? C'mon.
Ah, the awkward conversation of celebrities reading fanfic. I wish this conversation would be had with someone who understood it better. Honestly do not like this host's summation of it because -- not just as someone who reads and writes it, but as someone who understands it's influence on published writing and understands its relevance in women's circles, this is a much deeper conversation and this host makes it feel trivialized (because they don't understand it).
Also - I wonder what Chris read, great abs and about cats? lol.
STOP FUCKING CALLING ANY KIND OF QUEER FANFIC SLASH FIC. It's old school term. Now it's just... fanfic. You no longer need to qualify the fic by saying it's slash.
This host is... bugging me a bit. But that's my issue.
They're getting into the writer portion and as a writer myself I'm... honestly a little bored by this. The TLOS convo he's had a million times. He's also talked about his process a lot, which idk, maybe this is more interesting to non-writers but like, yeah, yup, i've been there done that.
Aww, Chris talking about his anxiety issues - I do always love hearing about this, because I feel like mental health issues don't get addressed in the way should.
Um, they end on a section called 'fight me' where Chris debates a position - and his is that only queer actors should play queer roles. I... think that's a nuanced question that deserves more than a 60 second watered down debate and I'm not going to touch it.
And.. yeah, that's what I have to say about that. It's nice to hear from Chris again, so glad he's so much more open about his life and experiences. If I'm being honest, though, I think I do kind of value the conversations more so when he has them with, say, Kevin and Jenna, because there's something more personal going on there.
But that's just me - someone who has followed Chris and his career for, my god, what sixteen years now? Yeah. :)
Hopefully that answers your question, Nonny! lol :)

Evidence that Hazel Wells is autistic:
She loves routine, needs it to feel secure and adjusts poorly to changes from what she knows and her plan, e.g. her stress from moving to a new city and school, struggling to form bonds with her classmates and not having her promised talk with Anthony driving her to run away and be miserable enough to qualify for fairy godparents; wanting to replicate her relationship with her brother with Jasmine; learning how to deal with them both having evolved when he visits; her gut instinct itself says that a tour meticulously structured in advance is her dream holiday and urges her to follow her godparents’ offered one of Fairy World
She has special interests in geology, horror movies, dinosaurs and Prime Meridian Love (and hats?), not just loving them intensely and expressing that through learning and sharing intimate knowledge of them, but using them to understand and navigate relationships, e.g. wanting to watch horror films with Jasmine because that’s her definition of a bonding activity from her routine with Antony; inviting her friends to a book club reading her manga as another bonding activity; wishing Kenueth to life to do a romantic-coded activity; naming her rocks, drawing faces on them and talking to them, possibly originating in a history of having few friends
Her fairies’ default object disguise form is a pair of fidget tools and their entire purpose is to give her what she wants
She frequently feels anxious and overthinks things, especially regarding social dynamics, e.g. her fear of Anthony forgetting about her while he’s away; getting overwhelmed by her peers in the cafeteria in “Teacher’s Pal”, fleeing and needing to steel herself simply to enter it at the end of the episode, not even planning to talk to anyone; being desperate to impress Winn and worrying that her home is inadequate for her standards, on a basis of nothing Winn has done; worrying that her geology presentation will be inadequate and wishing for a special stone; choosing to undergo countless time loops to try to avoid any embarrassment; worrying that an online quiz invalidates her close friendships
She nonetheless is said to be “mature” for her age in both “Fly” and “Teacher’s Pal” by Angela and herself
She has extremely high empathy despite not always easily understanding people, e.g. wishing to understand Dev; making selfless wishes on Founder’s Day whenever she sees unhappy kids; enabling Winn to experience their own interest in Patty Possum’s Party Playground the way they want and then empathizing with Patty about fearing abandonment and still loving people when they’re not around; continuing to be kind to Dev at the Dimmsonian and in “Best of Luck” after he twice reverts back to selfishness and malice and believes their friendship to be over; wishing for Marcus to get to be on a paranormal investigation TV show
She has a strong sense of justice, e.g. being so affected by learning about pollution that she starts a local environmentalist movement; vehemently opposing Dale’s corruption; rallying her friends to stand up to Vicky; angrily lashing out at Dev when she thinks or learns that he’s betrayed her
She can take things too literally or lack theory of mind, e.g. getting offended by Jasmine saying that she could dance alone “near” her partnered friends and holding that grudge for most of the episode; jumping to the conclusions that Dev is insulting her when he calls her “anomaly” and he was willingly, knowingly helping his father be evil; leaving him alone when he orders her to on his birthday rather than questioning if what he says he wants is what he actually wants or needs, since he’s clearly distraught and she knows that his issues revolve around abandonment, neglect and loneliness
She can disregard social norms when consumed by passion, e.g. interrupting the museum guide to share her own knowledge of dinosaurs and grabbing his microphone; infodumping about the plot of her manga in detail after Jasmine tells her not to; stealing Mr Guzman’s hat just because she likes it so much
She has emotional breakdowns that lead to drastic, bad decisions and could be read as meltdowns, e.g. packing a suitcase and running away; remorsefully attempting to sacrifice her life to restore potatoes to Earth
She loves official documents and finds the Department of Motor Vehicles relaxing for its rigid structure and monotony
She samefoods with chips/fries and other potato products, so passionate about them as to mention them when introducing herself to her classmates and have a whole episode dedicated to her wanting to eat only them; this is a notable choice because chips have a mild, neutral base flavour, are often standardized by producers like restaurant chains and served with the same condiments, making their eating experience predictable (and she isn’t shamed for being a ‘picky eater’! Her parents and Mother Nature say that it’s wonderful that she finds so much joy in potatoes and gently convince her to give her body what else it needs too)
She also hates trail mix for being “chaotic” with all its different flavours mixed together, and firmly prefers oatmeal cookies to normal cookies
Autism is genetic and her father likewise exhibits several autistic traits
She considers Jasmine casually striking up a conversation with a stranger and singing in public without self-consciousness to make her courageous, no matter what other fears she has
She continues to think of herself as “the new kid” for a good few months post-move and feels the internal need to prove her belonging in Dimmadelphia on Founder’s Day
She can’t comprehend how and why arbitrary, pointless social rivalries like the one between the band and orchestra groups exist
She repeatedly wishes for fantastical roleplaying adventures with her godparents, which give her excitement without stress or loss of control, as the stakes aren’t real and she always wins in the end (the “plot twist” we see Wanda add is the return of a villain from a previous adventure, still drawing on comfortable familiarity)
She has no interest in seeing more of Fairy World until Dev brings it up, strange for such a curious girl who adores her fairies - maybe out of aversion to an unknown, unpredictable setting?
When surrounded by clones of herself and asked to raise her hand if she’s real, she hesitates because she isn’t sure and doesn’t want to “deprive the real Hazel of being herself”, demonstrating high empathy, self-doubt and existential overthinking all at once; Wanda says, “Only the real Hazel would overthink whether she was real or not!”
I’m autistic and I relate to her enough to know
#and some people say that the World’s Most Autistic Little Girl doesn’t need fairy godparents#she could not more obviously be one crisis away from a nuclear meltdown#hazel wells#fop anw#fop a new wish#fairly oddparents#fop

Backlogbooks Bingo Challenge - Horror Recommendations (part 1)
To the surprise of no one, I'm starting off my challenge recommendations with horror! I'm getting the publication dates off of storygraph, so if I'm wrong, I take no responsibility <3
60s
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson -- Shirley Jackson! The queen! This one is such a combination of horror and humor and then horror again, about two sisters who live alone, ostracized by their town because of their family's dark past.
70s
Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon -- A very creepy folk horror novel about a family who leaves The City to come to a Small Town in new england, getting Close to Nature. Naturally, the townspeople have some dark secrets. I loved the atmosphere in this one--the slow building of dread, and trying to piece together exactly what the Dark Secret at the center of the harvest home festival is.
Jaws by Peter Benchley -- Okay, I don't know if I can actually recommend this, because to be honest with you, the movie is so much better. But also, if you're a shark movie fiend, this is a Piece Of History. Feel free to reply and argue with me if you love this book!
Carrie by Stephen King -- This book is about Carrie, a perpetually bullied girl who has the chance to go to the prom. I'm sure you know how it goes from there--but even if you do, I recommend reading the book. It's a heartbreaking horror novel, and I really enjoyed (slash hated) the way the tension mounts as you get closer and closer to The Bad Thing
The Shining by Stephen King -- Jack Torrance has a big new job as the caretaker at the Overlook Hotel during the off-season, and there's some evil afoot! Again, I feel like you know how it goes from there, but King is really so good at building dread and tension.
80s
A Nest of Nightmares by Lisa Tuttle -- Recently rereleased in the Paperbacks from Hell line, this is a collection of horror short stories that mostly center on women, with horrors both mundane and paranormal (but an emphasis on the paranormal). These stories were so creepy to me, and I really enjoyed the way that mood built. TW for rape (I can tell you which story for sure if you want! I'll just need to double check my copy to make sure I'm not misremembering)
Misery by Stephen King - He's back again! This is actually my favorite Stephen King novel (setting aside the dark tower series to make it a fair fight). Paul Sheldon, a bestselling novelist, is taken captive by his biggest fan, Annie Wilkes. Annie is like, my favorite villain I think. I've been wanting to reread this book for years because of her <3
2000
House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski -- Okay recommending this book does feel a little like trying to trap someone, but I love it. So! Will Navidson's house is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside; Johnny Truant is obsessed with a book by a blind man about a film that Navidson made that doesn't exist; everyone is lost in the labyrinth, including you. Please join me in this bonkers book. Conspiracy board supplies are not included, but you're encouraged to gather them up yourself as you go.
Uzumaki by Junji Ito -- Kurouzu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is haunted by spirals. This is not as metaphorical as I imagined it would be when I first picked it up! The body horror in this book is insanely good, and there are some lines/images that are going to live in my head Forever. Highly recommend if you like horror manga.
2003
Come Closer by Sara Gran -- This is a fantastic possession book--it keeps you right in her point of view as she spirals down, trying to figure out if she is in fact possessed or if there's some other break with reality. I loved the "are you possessed" quiz as a guiding structure.
2006
The Ruins by Scott Smith -- Trapped in the jungle, far from home and with no way to get help, a group of friends face an inhuman horror. This had some of the most skin crawling body horror I've seen, and I loved the development of the antagonist (don't wanna say more because spoilers!). Great survival horror. What a terrible group of people to be trapped with.
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks -- If you love yourself some worldbuilding and zombies, check out this book! World War Z gives you vignettes about different areas of the world, and different aspects of life during a zombie apocalypse. It was a slow read for me, but I really enjoyed the details.
2007
Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill -- An old rock star buys a ghost online, because he's a dumbass (aka because he "has a thing for the macabre"), and has to go through hell to get rid of it. It's been years, but I remember being deeply creeped out by this book!
2010
Feed by Mira Grant -- More zombies! This one set twenty years after the zombie apocalypse, following two bloggers who are working to uncover a conspiracy behind the Infected. This had political thriller vibes mixed in with the horror, which kept a fast pace, and I loved the main characters. Eventually I may even finish the series!
2011
The Ritual by Adam Nevill -- Four old friends try to push aside old and new tensions for a reunion hiking trip. Since that's not working, they try to take a shortcut and end up very, very lost--and very deep in woods that have more than just animals to worry about. I held my breath through a lot of the first half of this book. Good for folk horror fans or people who want to be very afraid of every forest they walk into.
2013
Dark Tales by Shirley Jackson -- Shirley Jackson again! This one is a collection of short stories, including "The Summer People" and "Louisa, Please Come Home," which are some of my favorites. Creeping dread, domestic horror, and the question of what happens when your life takes a sudden, unexplainable turn. Definitely recommend the edition with an introduction by Ottessa Moshfegh!
2014
Through the Woods by E.M. Carroll -- A collection of short horror comics, with dark fairy tale vibes. I want to eat E.M. Carroll's art style, or at least cover my house with prints from this book.
Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix -- Have you ever had a nightmare about being trapped in an ikea? Or, sorry, Definitely Not Ikea (So We Don't Get Sued)? Are you tired of your retail job? This is the book for you! Haunted ikea: much more terrifying than I expected it to be.
The Grownup by Gillian Flynn -- This is a quick, 64 page story about a young woman who pretends to be a psychic to get by, and ends up being pulled deeper and deeper into a family's dysfunction when she promises to help rid their home of ghosts or other powerful forces.
Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer -- Horror science fiction about Area X, an unexplained phenomenon where earth is returning to "pristine nature" with a horrific twist (or many of them). Our main character, the biologist, is one of my favorite characters I've ever read. I'm actually a little insane about her. Join me!
This is really long so I'm splitting it in two! Stay tuned for 2015-2019 recommendations next week :-)
And please recommend your favorite horror books for this challenge too!
#backlogbooks bingo challenge#horror recommendations#this is so long i'm sorry#but also it was very fun to put together#horror#challenge recommendations#recommendations#please reblog i spent a lot of time on this lmao

Roxy's front door was unlocked.
It wasn't abnormal, James told himself as he entered her small one-bedroom. Usually, he'd just use the door connecting 2-J to 2-H, but he'd run out to get her some flowers before picking her up for their dinner date.
"Babe?" He called out, loud enough so she could hear from anywhere in the apartment, but soft enough that it wouldn't scare her.
She'd texted him a few minutes ago to let him know he could come in, so she should be expecting him.
A muffled voice called, "In here, just finishing up my make up. Be out in a sec," from what he presumed was from the bathroom connecting to her bedroom. "You can hang out in my room if you want."
And he was more than happy to, setting the bouquet he'd purchased on the kitchen counter. He loved her room; The decorations, the smell, the ambiance. It was like walking into a museum exhibit all about her and he could never, ever get enough of it.
The sweetness of her rose-scented perfume tingled in his nose as he let his gaze wander.
How she'd managed to tack up the posters covering three of the four walls, floor to ceiling, by herself, James would never know, but as he wandered in and took a look at all the faces, decades and decades of music legends stared back. All of varying sizes and shapes, a gigantic Oasis poster was centered in the middle of one wall, with various small posters ripped out of Pop Tiger around it. Some of the edges were perfectly straight, she must have used some sort of blade to remove them from the binding, while others were rough and jagged - like she just couldn't want to tear the pictures out of the magazine.
Another wall, was almost entirely dedicated to Big Time Rush, which James didn't mind in the slightest. If he had it his way more of her space would be dedicated to the band - or more accurately - himself. It was almost impossible to miss the separation between posters with all four members, and the posters and articles just featuring himself.
Which BTR boy will make your heart sing this spring? One of the pages on the wall asked. Unlike the poster pages, this one was a quiz, and the familiar markings of Roxy's favorite red pen traced a line down the answers until it circled his face at the bottom in a big, roughly sketched heart.
Instead of focusing on the rising heat in his cheeks, he ran his finger over the mustache she'd drawn on Carlos, the chunky glasses on Logan, and the unibrow she'd given Kendall.
Another one was tacked up to the right, Do you have flames with James?
That one was new, and the cheesiness of the title made him chuckle. Of course she does...
When his eyes landed on her bookshelf, it was riddled with all of the paranormal romance books she'd said Jo and Camille had recommended to her.
"For studying," she'd say every time they passed by the bookstore on Hollywood Boulevard. "One of them is going to land a role in the movie adaptation I just know it."
None of the spines were cracked, and a bit of guilt panged in his chest. Big Time Rush kept her far too busy to ever sit down and get through any one of her books. In front of the books on the small lip of the shelf sat a row of photos she, Jo, and Camille had taken at a photo booth at one of the New Town High cast parties. Presumably, it was to be used as a bookmark.
The row below was filled with leatherbound journals, just like the one Roxy wrote all of her songs in.
When he'd asked about her massive collection the first time he'd noticed it, she'd cast her eyes to the floor and twirled a strand of her long hair around her finger.
"I've been journaling since I was a kid... So, I've got like a million of them..."
It wasn't something she'd expanded on after that, but he knew one day she'd be comfortable enough to share them, and for now, that was enough.
Crash!
Something hit the tiled floor in the bathroom, and Roxy let out a loud string of curses.
"Everything okay?" James asked, head whirling toward the closed door to the bathroom behind him, all but ready to break it down if needed.
His girlfriend let out a loud sigh, and his heart jumped into his throat, "Yeah..." She sounded frustrated and sucked in a breath. "Dropped my eyeshadow palette."
"Want a hand?" He stepped closer to the bathroom, before the writing desk by the door caught his eye.
"...No, thanks though." Roxy's voice still came out like a deflated balloon. "I appreciate it."
A handful of guitar picks were scattered out over the desk, all a thick celluloid, and he took one and turned it over between his fingers. Both her electric and acoustic guitars were on stands next to the dark wooden structure - her keyboard on the other side as well.
Beside the picks was her tape player, tons of crumpled-up music sheets, various red pens, and a rhyming dictionary.
He'd never seen her pick the large book up, but the spine was so worn parts of the flimsy paper surface were nearly falling off, so he leaned in to get a better look.
New Rhyming Dictionary and Poets Handbook the cover read, despite the state of it suggesting it was anything but "new." A small black script in the lower right confirmed his suspicions: 1990 edition.
James knew she was a fan of thrift shopping, but she didn't typically buy much but clothing, music, and magazines second-hand.
Dropping the pick, his fingers reached the worn cover, and carefully flipped it open to the title page, which read the same as the cover. But, directly underneath, the scratchings of a bright blue pen read Declan Somerset.
Like father, like daughter. James realized, though the thought of Declan sent a small shiver down his spine. That guy sure was intimidating... but, at times, shared the same bright eyes as his daughter. They even laughed similarly, he'd learned last time Declan had come to visit, and Carlos said something so hilarious Dec had nearly fallen out of his chair.
"Just one more minute!" Roxy called, from the bathroom, and James was shaken out of his memory.
He nodded, even though she couldn't see him, and planted himself down on the edge of her bed to wait the final few moments he'd have in her space before - if he was lucky - he'd find himself sneaking in later.
Setting his hand down to lean backward a bit, his hand hit something large and fuzzy.
James' brow furrowed. Sir Cuddle Bug...
The gigantic, stuffed rottweiler puppy Roxy had stolen from teen idol photographer Marcos Del Posey, was flopped out, belly down, on her perfectly made bed.
Sir Cuddle Bug was, in James' opinion, way too big and took up way too much of Roxy's attention. He was so prominently displayed in the center of her room, and she held him tightly in her arms every night while she slept...
He'd even brought it up to Kendall, Carlos, and Logan, trying to figure out of he was crazy to be jealous of a stuffed animal, and they'd just laughed in his face as he tried to explain he felt like competition to the stupid dog.
But, Roxy loved that thing so much. It was clear it held more weight to her than just being a stuffed toy - or a competitive figure - because of where it came from. He could never ask her to get rid of a reminder from one of their first weeks in Hollywood, especially after how much it took for Big Time Rush to finally find the stability they take comfort in now.
So, instead, he slapped the dog in the face, and that made him feel much better.
Silently, the singer chuckled to himself. Take that, you stupid thing. Cuddling with my girlfriend... What a joke...
For that, he punched Sir Cuddle Bug's huge snout. Then his fat body. And took one of his paws in his hands and roughly dragged it back and forth across the black blanket Roxy'd brought out in anticipation of the cooling winter temperature.
In fact, James had gotten so tangled up in his imaginary battle with the stuffed animal, that he'd barely registered the sound of a heeled shoe tapping on the tiled bathroom floor as Roxy made her way to the door. It took everything in him to try and right Sir Cuddle Bug once more, to make it look like no foul play had occurred while she wasn't looking.
Hastily, he stood up and threw the dog back onto the center of the bed, using both of his hands to smooth the blanket down over her red duvet, heart pounding.
When the door sprung open, he whirled around, hands behind his back, and took in the sight of her as a small, thump emanated from behind him.
Roxy's darkly shadowed eyes blew wide.
Obviously, James smirked ruffling the sport coat he'd picked out for tonight, she's stunned at how handsome I look.
"Aww," His girlfriend cooed, pitching her voice up, and fanned his already large ego just a bit bigger. Taking a few hurried steps in her tall heels, she threw her arms out as she approached him, purple dress glittering, and James braced for impact... Before she blew right past him to scoop up Sir Cuddle Bug from the puddle held crumpled into on the carpet. "Did you take a widdle fall?"
Dragging his hands down his face, James sighed as he watched her place him back in the center of her bed. Damn that ugly dog...
hehe <3 inspired by a conversation @naquey / @ithinkyouhealedmyheart and i had last night :)

Phoebe Spengler
Don’t care about grades just call me your lady ⬅️ Link
Preview ⤵️
It was no secret that you had a thing for Phoebe Spengler.
Everybody knew it except for Phoebe herself.
You two became quick friends due to your shared interests in science and the paranormal.
Your feelings for Phoebe hit you randomly and it only grew stronger the more you two hung out.
You came up with every and any excuse you could think of to spend more time with her, even if it meant lying just a little.
Phoebe knew you were smart, that you had never failed a single test or quiz, so when you asked her to tutor you, she was a bit suspicious.
But she was going to help you anyway because you two were friends.
Now she was sitting beside you at your desk as she explained something you already knew, her brown curls falling over her glasses.
Your lamp shone a warm glow around your bedroom, making Phoebe look almost angelic as you gaze fondly at her.

{Your POV}
~~~~~
After both Haku and professor Nicolas left, it was just me and professor Hyde. "Do you remember the anomaly you encountered on the train?" I tilted my head. "Anomaly..?" The professor gave me a surprised look. "Wait, no one gave you the brief yet? How'd you get here?" I hummed and explained. "Um... A monster attacked me on the train, then a a red haired boy... I believe his name was Taiga? Yeah, he showed up."
The professor nodded. "Right." Then I continued to explain, "Then he attacked me too for some reason, but Haku saved me..." Professor Hyde became even more surprised. "No way, Taiga did what? Sory, gonna have to pretend I didn't hear that part... So then you rode the Galexy Express all the way to our hallowed halls of learning without a clue, huh?" I nodded.
"Well, if you've seen that much, this won't take long. All the weird stuff you just described? They're all what we call anomalies." I asked more about what anomalies were. "There are things in this world that defy the rules society has deemed common sense. The kinds of things people call the occult or paranormal phenomena or cryptids. We're a global organization that searches out anomalies so we can study and regulate them. Darkwick Academy is our cover, as well as our training facility. In other words, we're the Japan branch of a heroic organization that defends world peace from the shadows."
I just blinked twice and nodded slowly. "Okay..." At least half of what Professor Hyde said went over my head... But having seen the anomalies he was describing with my own eyes, it was difficult for me to refute it. 'It's hard to believe but I guess this means that anomalies are the same as phantoms...'
"And not only am I a professor at Darkwick, I'm also one of the world's leading anomalous researchers~ I'm sure you've figured this out already, but I'm brilliant, so just lay back and spill all your secrets." 'I'd... rather not' I thought and sweatdropped. "Come on now, no need to be nervous! Let's get down to business." Professor Hyde sat back and called out merrily.
"Hodge! Podge! It's counseling time!" That's when two floating hands came in, holding a typewriter. 'Surprisingly... that's not the most shocking thing I've seen.' "I'm going to ask you some questions. All you have to do is answer truthfully. Don't overthink it." I nodded and the floating hands started typing.
"Your said you encountered an anomaly covered head to toe in flowering plants, correct?" I nodded, "Yes, I did." "Did you see it's eye?" "An.. eye..?" I thought back to when I met the flower monster. "Yeah... It had one big eye where its face should have been." "Did you make eye contact?" He asked to which I nodded again. "I see... That's a shame. Hodge, Podge, write "Confirmed""
The sound of the letters being inscribed into the paper echoed throughout the quiet room. I laughed nervously. "Hmm? Oh sorry, are they distracting you? They like to people watch. The right hand with the red ribbon is Hodge. The left hand with the black lace glove is Podge." I just nodded again. "Don't worry. We just want to understand what happened to you." The right hand with the ribbon waved and me and I waved back. Meanwhile, the left hand tapped its index finger on the table somewhat impatiently.
"All right, let's take a peek inside your noggin next, shall we? Hopefully it didn't mess around in there too much. Take a look at these questions and pick the answer that vibes with you most. Just go with your first instinct."
[This does not really affect the main story. But I'm getting you Frostheim because of Kaito and Luca. But I personally got Jabberwock.]
Some photos were shown: The Tokyo tower, gothic setting with candles among red roses, friends holding up champagne glasses, clear blue skies among free green grass, wisteria trees, an aurora over a lake, and an hourglass.
For this I chose: The Tokyo Tower
The next was asking my greatest fear: People thinking I'm boring, People thinking I'm ignorant, People thinking I'm a failure, People thinking I'm a bad person, Being surrounded by constant conflict, Being abandoned and alone, and Being powerless.
For this I chose: I'm a failure
Next, Which animal best represents you: An eagle, A lion, A tiger, A wolf, A cat, A bunny, and a snake
For this I chose: A lion
Which birthday gift would you want the most: Custom-made birthstone jewelry, Money, Tickets to my favorite museum, Handmade scrapbook of memories with friends, A plane ticket to my happy place, Luxury car, or something practical from my wish list.
For this I chose: Custom-made birthstone jewelry
How do you want people to remember you: Powerful, Open-minded, Trustworthy, Brave, Unique, intelligent, or successful.
For this I chose: Powerful
If you could have any superpower, what would it be: Shapeshifting, Never have to sleep, Time travel, Extreme luck, Make people follow my orders, Elemental powers, or Gravity control.
For this I chose: Shapeshifting
On a Saturday night you can be found...: Writing or drawing, Learning a new skill, Fundraising for a cause I'm passionate about, Boardgame night, Walking along the beach with a friend, Hosting a party with an exciting theme, or unwinding at a hip bar.
For this I chose: Learning a new skill
What is your greatest flaw: I'm a perfectionist, I'm obsessive, I'm manipulative, I'm a pessimist, I'm anxious, I'm self conscious, or I'm complacent.
For this I chose: I'm a perfectionist
What food makes you happy: Pizza, Steak, Wine and cheese, Cookies shaped as cats, Pancakes with cream and fruits, or dessert with tea.
For this I chose: Steak
"All done!" Professor Hyde said as he grabbed all the photos and notes. in one hand and peered at the typewriter on the table. He read the words rapidly appearing on the paper and whistled. "Interesting, so you value success, huh? You're self-confident and relentless in the pursuit of your goals. In my experience, you'd do well in Frostheim House." I blinked twice. "Frostheim..?"
"Oh, they're going to draw it for you now. Don't waste any time, these two............. Looks like they're done." Then, Hodge and Podge gave me a card. "That's a Frostheim Warding card. It's their gift to you!"
I awed at the beautiful scene on the card. "It's beautiful!" The picture was far more impressive than I had anticipated, considering how quickly it had been drawn. Hodge extended its palm toward me, as though requesting a handshake. Wanting to show my gratitude, I gripped the floating extended hand, and gently shook it.
We then got up and left. "Let's walk and talk. Wouldn't want to keep the chancellor waiting." I nodded as we walked out of the room. "I'm surprised that the cut on my leg is gone thanks to that medicine." I mentioned. "Hmm. Professor Nicolas knows his way around a mortar and pestle. Embarrassing in a fight though." I giggled. "Does he get in fights often?"
Professor Hyde shrugged. "You saw Taiga fighting that anomaly, didn't you?" I nodded. "It's pretty common for encounters with anomalies to result in a bit of a scuffle. The Warding Card Hodge and Podge made for you is handy in times like that." I hummed. "This card?" I asked and held up the blue card. "You got it. Each one has a different when you carry it with you. They give you certain advantages in combat. Not that you'll be fighting any anomalies, but FYI."
"What's this picture?" I asked as my finger traced over the stairs. "It's a painting of the house I said you'd do well in. All students here have to belong to a house. When they go on missions, they usually form teams with other students from the same house. *Tch* Not that any of them actually do what they're told."
'Yup- This practically is Night Raven's College...' I thought and sighed. "By missions... Is that where they go looking for anomalies, like you said earlier?" "Investigate, capture, manage, research... the whole bag" Professor Hyde explained. "Students do all that? Impressive." I awed.
"Ahaha! Being here might change you definition of elite" I chuckled internally, comparing Taiga and Haku to Tsunotaro and Lilia. "And here we are, the very place from which our mighty lord chancellor rules over it all." I bit my lip as we entered. "Your humble servant has returned, chancellor."
Over Professor Hyde's shoulder, I caught a glimpse of a winding spiral staircase and an opulent chandelier. The chancellor's office exuded an air of dignity that turned outsiders away at the door. 'It's much more beautiful than Headmage Crowley's office! Bigger too!' I awed and looked around the place. "I brought the witness. Come over here." I nodded and stood beside Professor Hyde. "Um.. Hello..." I greeted.
"You're late!" My jaw dropped as I saw a boy with a cat eared hat. 'THAT'S THE CHANCELLOR?!' "A-A-A kid?" I questioned in shock. We were almost the same height after all. The small boy with his hands on his hips and his cheeks puffed out stood glaring up at Professor Hyde. "I did a counseling session with her first. We won't get far without knowing the cause, will we?"
"But I'm the chancellor! You're supposed to consult me first!" I sweatdropped and almost gasped. 'He really is the chancellor?!' I took in a deep breath and continued to watch his and Professor Hyde converse.
"Right, right, my bad. Here's the results." "Not an inch of you thinks it's your bad, does it? Honestly, it's like you make my life difficult on purpose..." Muttering to himself, the boy took the papers from Professor Hyde and turned his back to us. "That's the chancellor of Darkwick Academy. Not what you expected, eh? He may look like he just graduated from diapers, but hes actually-" "I can hear you, Professor Hyde." "..... a very important person." I giggled at the professor's nervous remark.
"It's wonderful to meet you, [Y/n]! My name is Cornelius. Welcome to our humble Darkwick Academy!" I nodded and bowed a bit. "Nice to meet you. I must say, you're very young for a chancellor, aren't you?" The chancellor chuckled. "Aren't you sweet? I get that all the time!" I hummed and thought, 'I guess the staff at elite schools are just as unique as the students... At least he isn't like Headmage Crowley...'
"Meow! meow!" 'And this is a lot of cats...' "Hush, everyone! I have some important business with our guest." The chancellor smiled as he spoke to the cats. "Break time's over- back to your posts. Go on, off you trot!" "Meow! Meow!" Upon the chancellor's command, he cats dashed up the staircase and, one by one, leapt through the window. "All right, that's them dealt with. Please, take a seat." I nodded and sat down. "Thank you..."
"I'll head out too, then. The materials on the anomaly are over here, Chancellor." "All right, thank you!" The chancellor thanked professor Hyde. "He's a little long-winded, but hand in there. Bye-Bye!" Professor Hyde waved to me with his hands folded behind his head, then strode unhurriedly from the office. "Honestly, that man just does not know when to shut his mouth... Anyway, had a rough time of it, haven't you? Let's take a look at your counseling results... Wonderful! No psychological interference."
"Sorry... What exactly is this meeting for?" I asked, tilting my head. The lack of explanation was making me increasingly anxious. "Ahem... Well.... this is awfully difficult to say..." All of a sudden the chancellor stared at me with a serious expression.
"You've been cursed, and in one year's time, you will die."
Hello! I’m Kei and I’m here for two romantic matchups!
I have messy brown hair in a pixie cut, pale skin, eyebags, blue and hazel heterochromia (not sure if I spelt that right lol), a thin body, boney fingers, some acne on my cheeks and blackheads on my nose, a big-ish nose that I tend to be insecure about, quite a few moles that I also am insecure about, thin pink lips with a Cupids bow, and round circle glasses.
I tend to be very sarcastic and snarky, but I’m also very nice to people that I like, I usually have a soft spot for people I have a crush on but I’ll usually avoid them bcs I’m too scared to interact with them and I don’t want to embarrass myself lmao. I get embarrassed easily, especially if someone’s flirting with me or doing something cringey near me. Whenever I’m around people I don’t like I usually just give them a nasty side eye or a glare. I don’t really have friends, but that’s because I’m homeschooled and I live out in the country so any town I’m around is usually 45 minutes away. I’m very selfless and I always put other people’s well-being before my own and I’m not good at saying no. I usually follow the rules and never get into any trouble because I prefer to stay under the raidar. I’m alone most of the time when I’m not learning, and I’m pretty isolated as well. I’m very empathetic towards plants and animals as well as the environment, so I like to pick up any trash or anything that could possibly harm the environment. As I’ve said before: I’m very sarcastic, but I’m also quite oblivious so I can’t detect sarcasm that easily. I’m pretty bad at social cues, and I’m oblivious when it comes to people who have a crush on me or try to flirt with me, but like I said, I get very flustered when I realize someone’s flirting. I’m very shy and nervous around new people, and I usually stay close to the person I know the most when I meet them.
I LOVE history, but mostly the creepy and darker side of history. I’m super into paranormal investigating and I’d love to investigate with friends and such. I like exploring abandoned buildings but I always prefer to have someone with me. I like doing creepy challenges with friends, I also like exploring the wilderness and nature. I LOVE swimming and I have a deep connection with the ocean and water. I can be pretty weird when I’m not being sarcastic.
Gender: Gender-fluid but I prefer he/him and they/them pronouns
Sexuality: Bisexual
Likes: Conspiracy theories, cryptids, mysteries, exploring, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, scary stories, legends, creepy history, paranormal stuff, Star Wars, marvel, anime, video games, music, dr.pepper, candy (specifically chocolate and cotton candy), witchcraft, Ninjago, Tmnt, nature, cats, foxes, rabbits, the morning dew, science, and other nerdy stuff.
I have social anxiety, autism, depression, and some PTSD
I have a pretty traumatic childhood, but I don’t remember much of it because my brain made me forget, so kudos to my brain ig
I’d be in the oracle, bard, and abomination track at hexide.
My palisman would be a cardinal (took a quiz)
And if you don’t mind, could you focus on what the characters would think of me? Please and thank you! ^^
I match you with: Edric Blight!
-He is also pretty damn sarcastic and snarky at times. He loves it when people he likes (romantically or platonicly) are also like that. He likes being able to bounce off each other.
-He is also super nervous around his crush so when y'all talk to each other before dating it's a mess (affectionate)
-You follow the rules and don't get into trouble? Lame. Nah, just joking despite his delinquent personality he actually gets along pretty well with people who follow the rules. Just look at Amity.
-He likes animals a lot! He needs his partner to be caring towards animals tbh.
-He's horrible at taking care of plants tho- He would probably ask how to take care of plants, he wants to learn.
-All the blight kids love creepy stuff. So obviously that includes him.
-He would love to hear about creepy stuff and stories. If you tell him you explore abandoned buildings. First of all your cool as fuck for doing that, second of all please take him with that sounds so interesting.
-If he's interested in any shows or games you're into he can talk to you about it for hours.
-Also I don't know why but I feel like he would sweet food and drinks. So with your taste, he is so ready to get snacks for both of you.
-Y'all have a pretty similar personality. Hunter is more sarcastic and snarky with specific people (*Cough* Amity *Cough*) tho.
-He also has a soft spot for people he has a crush on. But despite that, he doesn't really think you have a crush on him unless you tell him explicitly.
-Yeah he gets putting others' well-being above your own. But (despite him doing the exact same thing) he is like 'No stop it, please value yourself more.'
-He used to (I still kinda does) follow the rules but he does it to get noticed lmao.
-He thinks animals and plants are neat. So (even if it's just how to take care of them) he'd be very interested to learn more.
-As mentioned before he's also pretty oblivious. It's pretty painful for the rest of the hexsquad, and really everyone, to watch.
-He is really interested in the human realm. He experienced the creepier part of the demon realm (or the closest thing to creepiness there.) So he would exchange creepy facts with you from your respective realms.
-He would probably watch/read all the stuff you like. He trusts your judgment on whether a piece of media is good or not.
I hope you like this! Also, I'm sorry this took so long! And I'm so sorry I didn't really focus on what they thought idk I tried.
