I'm putting this under a readmore bc. Very large spoilers for the post credit scene of sonic 3!!

Right. So. In the first post credit scene we see Metal Sonic - more specifically, we see multiple Metal Sonics. As a side note, I think it's hilarious that he looks like game Metal, and basically not like movie Sonic at all. The only differences I noticed were some more seams in his chassis across his face, more segments in his feet, and a gun arm. (Now in my defense, this was from a very dark scene and also at the cinema. I haven't been able to find a good quality rip yet. There may be more differences!)

So, the gun arm. What version of Metal do we know that has a gun arm? Shard!! Now I haven't read the Archie comics so the extent of my knowledge of Shard is that he's the original version of Metal that became good. (Ik there's more to it but we don't need that rn). This idea was the basis for my one piece of movie fanart so far lmao. Anyway I realise they can't explicitly use Archie characters with all the legal stuff surrounding that, so we probably won't get Shard. However. Shard has the colour scheme of Metal Sonic 3.0 and you can probably see where I'm going with this. Metal Sonic 3.0 was created by Eggman Nega and THAT got me thinking.

Bringing in Nega is a rlly good way of still having a Robotnik villain, but also having a new villain. I don't want every movie to end with "wow is Robotnik actually dead?" only for Jim Carrey to once again come back and act mostly with himself. Boring. Just kill the character for real. (I can go on about why Robotnik should have died in Sonic 2 and it would have led to a better Sonic 3 but whatever. This is the movie we have). Unfortunately both Gerald and Ivo were acted by Jim Carrey but I don't see why we can't have a different actor for Nega.

I was also thinking, obviously, where have these Metals come from? It's only been a few months between the end of the movie and the post credit scene (I think), and tbqh even if Robotnik is alive I don't see WHY he would decide to make a bunch of Metal Sonics. He's not opposed to Sonic by the end of the movie, so he doesn't have any reason to. (Same goes for Stone). But putting Nega into the mix gives any number of reasons the writers could play around with. Would Nega be from an alternate dimension, would he be from the future? (Either of those could then introduce Blaze or Silver in Sonic 5). Does he know more about Sonic's origins and wants to replicate his powers? Who knows!! I don't!!

Ok I'll be real I forgot abt this in my drafts and I lost my train of thought but do u see. They could put Nega into the movies. It could fix them (a bit).
