Final thoughts
Liked the artwork and the music. Characterwise I liked some more than others. Overall the only thing I have to complain about are the endings because most of them were open ends which didn't feel satisfying. The game had potential but sadly didn't make use of it properly. Maybe it would have been better with less characters and longer stories with satisfying endings? 😕 But it wasn't the worst otome I've played and I still would recommend the game to others. 6.5/10

Cramming Sunday Afternoon
Summary: Yuuki is concerned about her exams, Kamui is concerned about Yuuki. They have a walk around the courtyard.
Rating: K - Intended for general audience 5 years and older. Content should be free of any coarse language, violence, and adult themes.
Words: 1000
Notes: Just some cute, dopey boyfriend being cute.
It was late Sunday afternoon. Outside the window of the library, harsh wind had swept students across the grounds all day. As they often do, the colony government lowered the temperature around April, to stimulate the students to stay in and prepare for the exams. The sun is setting beyond the horizon, and she would have to walk back to the dorm.
The hours passed her unobservant form as Yuuki rested her slightly-aching head on her bent arm, books splayed in front of her. She had lost track of how much she had read, but she knew it was well-worth it, if nothing else to increase her confidence in herself come Monday morning.
Her study group had left a few hours ago, the girls moaning their tiredness, but they had given her half a slab of chocolate before departing as a kindness, which she had steadily made her way through in that time, which consisted on her only meal that day since breakfast. There were three squares left now, but she had not looked at them in the past hour, struggling to keep her focus.
"How long have you been here, Yuuki?"
The slightly concerned voice of Kamui Saibara made her head shoot up, not having heard him sit down in the first place, before sinking back into her half-comfortable hunched position. It really must be late, she wagered, if he was already back from his grandfather’s home.
She had offered for her boyfriend to study along with her. He knows he is smart and quick to understand the content, if a bit overstretched to actually perform well in exams. Strategically, he could help her understand the stuff she struggled with, and even if he could not, it would be less of a chore if they could do it together.
However, between Vector business and the exams, it had been a while since he went home to see his grandfather, and if he did not go today, there would be no day off in sight for that. Mr. Zenji took precedence, of course. At the same time, as much as she wanted to go along with Kamui, she is very conscious of the countdown ticking towards their exams, and she wants to do well. As such, it is only natural to spend the day apart.
Yuuki cleared her throat, which took a second because the last time she spoke was... The time before the last time she checked the clock, which was about two hours ago now.
"Uh, since breakfast? Maybe. Not sure." She responded, waveringly. “Well, since just after we said goodbye at the courtyard.”
"Don’t you think it's time for a break?" He tutted.
She looked at him as though he had suggested unjustified murder of twenty-five new-born puppies. "No, Kamui. I'll take a break after the tests, there will be plenty of time for that then."
He opened his mouth to negate her claim, but stopped himself short for a moment, as he notes the large blue jacket thrown over her shoulders.
"Is that my coat?" The boy asked, with more than a little smugness.
She gave a distracted hum. "Probably. It’s cold in here."
Turning the page of her book, Yuuki missed the smile on his face. He took the tattered volume from her hands, earning a frustrated whine as she lazily reached for it back. The pitiful attempts at getting back to study earned her a chuckle from her boyfriend.
"How about this, I'll quiz you, and if you get them right, we go take a break." He offers, good-naturedly.
The girl propped her head up, uncurling her arm, and considered his proposition for a minute before nodding. "Fine."
Kamui smirked, scratching his nose as he swept his eyes over her scribbles and underlines. The poor textbook had seen better days, as it was covered in notes and with a cracked spine. Comparing it to his mostly-new one tickled him a bit.
He did the best he could to ask difficult questions. She confidently answered about seventeen of them before he stopped, closing the book.
"See?” He says, petulantly. “You're fine, you know this stuff. Come get some fresh air before dinner, you can come back to it tomorrow."
Assessing the clock and seeing the amount of time that had passed, Yuuki conceded with a sigh, packing her things away and letting Kamui lead her by the hand out of the library and out to the courtyard.
He had been rather worried about her withdrawn expression and tired eyes when he arrived at the academy, but she seemed to gain colour back to her face after a few minutes outside, even with the miserable cold and biting wind. Considering the fair student population around them, and after three years of high school, he wondered why the higher-ups still thought that their weather strategy worked at anything other than lowering morale.
His girlfriend let go of his hand and settled on the edge of the fountain, mindlessly entertaining herself by counting the reflecting pennies in the water.
Kamui slid up next to her, moving her satchel when she was not looking so she would not be tempted to grab the damn textbook once again, and kissing her forehead when she turned to see what he was doing.
"Do you feel better?" He asked, a dopey smile in his face.
"Yeah, I am. Thanks, Kamui." She replied softly, taking her first breath of the afternoon that was not full of dust and paper.
He nudged her shoulder lightly with his.
"Anytime.” He responded, pressing a coin from his pocket into her hand. “Here, make a wish."
Yuuki smiled and nudged him back before flicking the coin into the fountain.
"What did you wish for?"
She scoffed. "I can't tell you that, or it won't come true."
Kamui scanned her face, eyes resting on hers before he smirked. "I’m sure it will."
He did not need his future-telling to know that, as he would make sure it does.

Recently played Paradigm Paradox and I'm afraid I have. A lot of thoughts. And I need to talk about it because WTF did I play?? Spoilers! (duh)
Paradigm Paradox
Overall Rating 1/10
Favorite ML KAMUI
ML Rating 6/10
ML Trope / Personality Golden retriever bf who is too hard on himself</3
Genre / Summary Magical Girls in a post-apocalyptic world
Overall Thoughts (SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT FR FR)
All I can say is. What a weird game. The tone is so off. The background music never fits what's happening on screen (character: talking about how he had been experimented on without his consent. the music: hehe frolicking in the fields~). The pacing is INCREDIBLY off. The characters. Just don't act normal? It's SO weird. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where you transform into magical girls to kill monsters, but the twist is that the monsters started off as humans. There’s a lot of heavy topics discussed like human experimentation, forced imprisonment, brainwashing, child abuse, authoritarianism, government cover ups, but none of it is handled very well. It doesn’t get the depth or time it deserves, and it’s more so a backdrop for the “love” story lines, which honestly are not that great either. Then in the final route you find out about ANOTHER plot twist that doesn’t get time to sink in, and neither was it foreshadowed or hinted at on any other route. Every route is very short, and I don't know if that’s a good thing or not because on one hand they could have improved the story lines with more time, but also, being short is one of its only redeeming qualities because at least it goes so quick. That’s mitigated by the fact there are EIGHT routes to get through. Holy shit. The only other redeeming quality is Kamui<3 because all the other love interests SUCK or are mediocre at best. Also the most disappointing part was Ryou, I was so excited for him and then. It’s just a grown ass 26 yr old man flirting with a 16 yr old high schooler…..my guy … what are you doin….
Individual Short Reviews
Kamui my shining beacon of hope in this stupid game. Genuinely a good story line about a people-pleasing character who tries to sacrifice himself to keep everyone else safe. (Mayhaps I cried)
Ibuki this is an interesting case of where even the writers had no idea what personality they wanted this character to have. So every scene, they have a different personality and motivations. I was so interested to know about their motivations, and just. Got nothing? Go girl, give us nothing!
Yukinami I was so excited to have a yandere route and then it.. just wasn't yandere enough? Idk it just didn't hit. I chalked a lot of plot holes to it being the 2nd route I played but in hindsight, none of the plotholes were retroactively fixed. it was not great.
Hyuga 1st route I played and I was so disappointed. There is a serious problem with how his route is written and he does not make choices that make sense for his character.
Mihaya the plot about his parents and how he overcomes his anxieties surrounding death was interesting, but could have been explored more imo
Tokio I have no feelings about him. Like I understand the trope they are trying to hit, but the transition from the misunderstanding to him being in love wasn't believable at all
Ryou get out of here weirdo. flirt with people in your own age range
Ayumu is on my shitlist fr fr. Straight up in last place in the last tier on my otome ml ranking list. Out of every ml I've ever encountered. Ticks literally every box for everything I hate in a character.
weeeeird ass game fr

Focusing in the Smell of Aftershave, Green Tea and Sugar
Summary: Yuuki does not seem to focus in the conversation. Kamui does not mind either way.
Rating: K+ - Suitable for more mature childen, 9 years and older, with minor action violence without serious injury. May contain mild coarse language. Should not contain any adult themes.
Words: 1000
Notes: Kamui seems like a cool guy. He’s a bit dorky, dopey, I like these sort of LI.
The neighbourhood around them was calm that night. The Vectors do not seem to be returning any time soon, and so there is a very noticeable air of peace permeating civil life in the city. It is late in the year, and so the students began to leave the Academy District and return to their family’s houses in other areas of the colony. Hallways dwindled in foot traffic, the wind grows chillier, the streets become quieter.
It reminded Yuuki of winter nights in her childhood. She had been alone for as long as she can remember, and so would always spend her breaks in the dorms, mostly alone. Feeling slightly wicked, in that innocent way children of a certain age are, she used to stay up much too late but was mesmerised by the chirps of crickets and the scent of petrichor too much to give into asleep.
The colony always had amene weather, determined by the leadership. She thinks someone amongst the higher-ups must really had enjoyed summertime back in their time, as it always reminded her of the descriptions of the season before the catastrophe changed the face of their planet and they moved into the colonies.
She still enjoyed this collection of smells and sounds, but it was not something so ordinary that captivated her any longer, for Kamui Saibara was beside her, walking in step with her through the peaceful night.
They had spent the day in the Residential District with his grandfather. The older man was recovering very well, and was expected to be off his cast by the time his grandson had his graduation ceremony in April. They had eaten too much sweets and tea, and their stomachs hurt slightly as they slowly make their way through the streets before the curfew dropped and they get locked out of the dorms.
To Yuuki, there is something stable and secure about his presence, even with his joking demeanour and his occasionally irritating stubbornness. His silhouette was the shadow she is not afraid of, his hand and calloused fingers were anchors that kept you from drifting too far into the abyss. She wonders if this is what feels like to have a family.
While he was watching the sun slip below the horizon, leaving an explosion of oranges, pinks and yellows bleeding into the black sky with bright blue lines between the octagons of the projecting screen of the dome, only to be lost until the morning returns in a few hours, she is watching him. How truly enamoured she found herself with another person who had imperfections, faults and doubts, just the same as her, with the faults and lacks of parental love as she acutely felt over the years. Though she recognised this fact, and it could not be denied as such, it would not taint him in the slightest when viewed from her perspective.
"Did you hear me, gorgeous? Or were you too busy fantasising about my person to focus on anything else?" The petulant boy asked, leaning over the gate of the dorm building that overlooked the outer walls in which Theta is surrounded.
They were transferred there, so it is easier to access potential flares of Vector attacks, rare as they may be. Kamui had lost definitively his Foresight, and he cannot even transform anymore, his charm rendered just another phone strap. Herself, however, seemed to have her abilities as usual, which is a consistent point of shame of his, as he assumes that she does not feel as strongly about him as he does about her.
Scoffing, Yuuki nudged his arm and leaned beside him, privately wondering for a split second if he was so in tune with her that her mind had become glass. As his mouth began to move again, repeating whatever he had spoken before, she found herself simply admiring again. There is something so entrancing about him that she finds hard focusing on anything else when she gets going on one of these moods.
The collar of his wool coat was slightly upturned and reached his cheekbones now that his head was in line with his shoulders while he continued to lean over the ledge. His dark hair was falling over his forehead as he had not yet run his hand through it to put it back into place, something she both enjoyed watching him do and doing herself. He still smelled of his aftershave cologne he put on that morning, but it was faint enough to mix with the smell of green tea and sugar that they consumed over the afternoon. It felt so characteristic of his that she cannot feel anything but partial to it.
After a moment, the girl realised that Kamui was staring back at her with a small smirk gracing his lips, the moonlight reflecting over his purple eyes. He looked very amused, the way he looks when he feels that he cornered his grandfather, and she realised that, once again, his words had flown straight over her head.
"I’m sorry. I swear I'm listening this time." She laughed, slightly self-conscious, reaching out for his face when he shook his head in humorous disbelief.
"No, no, you've lost the privilege to hear what I have to say. Shame, really, because it's a big honour!" He tutted petulantly, even if he does not mean what he says.
The girl cups his face, looking as contrite as she can manage.
"Kamui, I will never take it for granted again." She promised, littering his face with delicate kisses. “Can you please tell me again what you said?”
"You are very lucky I love you." He laughed, kissing her sweetly. "Fine, but you have to tell me what had you so distracted."
"You, silly boy, of course. What else?" She giggled, squishing his cheeks between her thumbs and forefingers.
Kamui pushed her hands down and kept them within his own, pulling Yuuki into his chest and resting his head atop hers.
"Then I'll allow it."
