Did someone order an unreasonably tiny pizza? I recently made a very limited series of small crocheted pizza slices for @paradicepalase, one of my favorite galleries 🍕 . This unique series of mini crocheted pizza slices was made exclusively for @paradicepalase’s art object collection launch - each is unique and comes with its own custom box complete with a watercolor "grease" stain for added effect 👨🏻‍🍳 the slices measure approximately 2 x 1.25 x 0.25 inches each. . 50% of the sale of each edition will be donated to The West Philly Bunny Hop (@bunnyhopphl), a mutual aid community organization distributing fresh produce, prepared foods and household essentials to neighborhoods across Philadelphia 🥦 (at Paradice Palase) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMuwfc4rG1n/?igshid=1l2uv8sh58a5s

What happens when you stare into the pizza void and the pizza void stares back? . I’ve been hesitant to write a post expressing gratitude for all of the amazing experiences that somehow fell into my lap last year, but it’s a daunting task because there were so many. In 2021, I took part in 2 residencies; the @peterbulloughfoundation in VA with my amazing collaborator @kitsch_witch, and @chanorthartresidency in NY where I was lucky enough to meet @buketsavci, @plywood_sarcophagus, @kekearle, and @voylescurio. Not sure how I became fortunate enough to know these fantastic folks. . I have no idea what I did to deserve this but @jacobrhodes74 and @krisrac of @fieldprojects curated my work into a solo booth at @springbreakartshow in NYC, which was beyond a dream come true, and I took part in another booth curated by @inliquidart, alongside @roxysgreenhouse, @summerjhart, @allisonsommers, and @selvinglass. @fieldprojects also curated a show at @partnersandson, an amazing and magical space I’ve been a fan of for quite some time, including works by @hexaphage, @_erikohattori_, and myself. I kept expecting someone to jump out from behind a bush to yell, “Just kidding! You suck!” But it never happened. . Another dream came true when I collaborated with the unstoppably talented @dance_doyle on a 2-person exhibition at @secondstreetgallery. . @paradigmgs, @mortalmachinegallery, and @hashimotocontemporary did all the legwork to help me sell 3 of the largest sculptures I’ve ever made, which substantially helped to ease my financial palpitations, and I had a blast doing a limited release of tiny pizza slices for @paradicepalase. @mortalmachinegallery also took a huge circular rhizosphere to @scopeartshow in Miami, which was nuts. . The folks from @theshoutflower kindly used my image for the cover of their publication. I also had the tremendous experience of being interviewed by @linamasfina for @artfare, during an especially isolated time when having a conversation in the studio felt like a distant possibility. . Glad to have my painting, included in the upcoming “Global Meltdown” show, opening September 19 at the Limner Gallery, 123 Warren Street in Hudson, NY. This painting, “Burning the Tree of Life”, (o/c 93x78 inches) is from my Endangered Species series of 1995, that used a cross shape to emphasize the dire consequences facing our world then, and, unfortunately, even more now. Taking it out of storage for this event, I was glad to see it looks as fresh and powerful as it did when I painted it! Re-wrapped for its trip to Hudson. The show will be up from September 16 to October 9.
