The light shining through the old window was warm and inviting. The dust from an endless wall of books, glistening like glitter as the rats began scurrying past the spines. Rows of them, both old and new, filled with text containing all manner of subjects. Prized possessions in this was a place of knowledge and work.
"Ah…be careful amore you are carrying precious cargo." Copia stressed, a concerned look on his face as he helped direct Cirrus to sit on the sofa within his office. The very heavily pregnant ghoulette, smiling up at him as she set down the pile of books she'd been carrying and heeded her husband’s request. Brushing softly back the lock of salt and pepper hair that fell in his face.
"My dear sweet Papa, I'm made of hellfire…not glass." She giggled, "Just relax."
"If only it were that easy." Copia sighed, kissing his lover's palm. Cirrus knew it was hard for him. Copia was a nervous man by nature, and had Cirrus been mortal he may have had more reason to worry. Ghoulettes, however, were stronger than that.
Ever since that night, their amorous confessions laid bare upon arrival home, they were inseparable. A Papa and his Ghoulette Prime Mover. It became known quickly that Cirrus had conceived. The rest of the ghouls were shocked at the news. All except Cumulus who knew from the beginning that Cirrus was head over heels in love.
It was a quick, rather gaudy ceremony. One that was honestly done with Sister Imperator’s insistence. Never enough for her to have kept things simple, she assured them the Ministry would spare no expense. While it was a spectacular event to be sure, Copia and Cirrus much preferred the quiet ceremony shared earlier that day.
Illuminated in the early morning sun, excited hands struggling to still as they held onto one another. Facing into each other's eyes with all the wonder that was creation as Primo recited the rites of the ritual. Copia caressing his lioness’s face as he declared his undying love. The half ghoul kit within her belly, still too small to show.
It was the small moments that meant so much to them. They had the flashy thrill of the tour behind them. Content to spend the next couple of years in domestic bliss. Quietly awaiting the birth of their child before the chaos of the next tour cycle began. Both of them, content as they settled into ordinary life in the Abbey.
Today was no different. Copia, having to spend his day scouring through papers and taking calls from other sects of the Ministry. So many moving parts that it was hard to keep up. His impending fatherhood, the only thing keeping him surprisingly sane.
Cirrus calmed him. The Papa's lunch hour, usually spent with his head in her lap, now having to settle for a seat beside her. Cirrus was even more breathtaking with each day. Her face so delicate, smile heartwarming, and her tail, swaying happily behind her as she stared over to him. He was a lucky man indeed.
Copia brought himself to his knees before her. Settling in the space adjacent to her lap as he let out a surrendering sigh. Pressing his lips gently to her swollen belly, heavy with their child. Cirrus lifted him back up to face her. His eyes, full of the joy and panic that takes hold of all expectant fathers.
“Well you're going to have to try.” she said, giving Copia a warm look of encouragement.
“Si, but you have our bambino in there.”
“Papa!” She playfully chided. Copia nodded in acknowledgement before rising to meet with her. Their eyes, closing to the feel of one another's lips. Loving and sinfully hungry for each other at all times. Swiss, having teased them that if the ghouls were like cats Cirrus would be carrying multiples.
“I need you amore.” Copia grinned, lowering his mouth over her jaw and neck. Cirrus melting under him as she always did. Unable to deny her Papa his request.
“Papa…I…” she began, losing her constitution to speak as he nibbled at her neck. His freshly shaven, unpainted face—so smooth and warm against her skin.
“You are so beautiful this way. You're positively glowing Cirrus…truly. If it were up to me I'd have you this way always. Full of our child and so soft.” Copia hummed against her as his interests traveled to the precipice of her thighs. Cirrus slowly, parting them for him as he used his other hand to knead her breast. Kissing and drawing her into his mouth. Sending the ghoulettes head rolling backward, as the pleasure from his mouth on her and the suggestion of his touch thrilled her.
Just as she resigned to his whims, they both were met with surprise. A gush of fluid, making it way from inside her like the biblical fluid of Noah. A powerful proclamation that their child was preparing to make themselves known. The two of them immediately set on edge.
“Oh cazzo. What did I do?!” Copia yelped. His hands, held to the side of his head as he allowed reality to sink in.
“Seems it's time.” Cirrus smiled, breathing slowly through pursed lips. Allowing herself to calm before dealing with her husband’s anxieties. This was it. The Emeritus child was on their way.
Tumblr media
It was over almost as quickly as it began. Roars of perseverance and the sounds of cries, dissipating in the quiet of the room. Copia was in awe of her. Images of what had transpired, still dancing in the back of his mind as he sat at the side of Cirrus’s bed. The ghoulette, sleeping soundly for the first time in ages. Her husband, at her side with their newborn daughter nestled gently in his arms.
Copia had been a mess. Trying to stay strong during the birth, but it was Cirrus who was the strong one. So brave for risking everything to bring such a perfect thing into the world. A gift made with love from one another and the first half ghoul, half human born into the Papal line of succession. So small and innocent, but already so mighty as she yawned. Revealing the tiny, budded fangs and sleeping soundly in her father’s arms.
She was just as beautiful as her mother and even more precious to him. Her pale grey skin, hinting at her infernal heritage and only the suggestion of horns atop her head. Tailless, like her father and blessed with Cirrus’s nose. She was perfect.
“She needs a name Copia.” Cirrus said, quietly awaking to see her husband falling completely in love with his daughter all over again.
“You didn’t do too bad yourself.” she smiled, Copia quickly giving her a look of disbelief as he replied.
“Oh amore.” he whispered, trying to not awaken their daughter, “...you were absolutely magnificent but for now you must rest, si?” Copia both praised and insisted.
“Cirrus, I almost fainted.”
“But you didn’t.” she giggled, “...she is beautiful, isn’t she?” the ghoulette asked him. Appreciating this sweet moment between them. The first time they were truly together as a family. Both of them, staring at the little life they created, so full of happiness.
“That she is. My absolute pride and joy.” Copia said when both he and Cirrus instantly looked at one another once again.
“Lucifer. Copia, that's it.” Cirrus beamed, her husband kissing her forehead and minding her horns before speaking.
“You’re right…Joy… her name is Joy.”

Call It What You Want
Tumblr media
Phantom Ghoul x GN! Reader
Word count: 2k
Warnings: a lil spicy (I couldn’t help myself)
Note: ITS BEEN SO LONG IM SO SORRY. Seeing ghost on Saturday really got me in the mood to write again. For my man phantom. I listened to Call It What You Want by Taylor Swift while writing this. I’m a bit rusty since it’s been a bit so I apologize in advance but please enjoy 🖤🖤
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You sat by yourself in the cafeteria with a book in your hand and a coffee in the other. It was one of those cheesy smutty-romance novels you couldn’t help but love. Maybe it was because you are in a desperate need of some romance yourself after your last relationship went downhill or maybe it was a great distraction. All of your so-called friends took his side of the breakup and left you in the dust. You couldn’t help but feel lonely sometimes but books were a saving grace.
Your face remained stoic as you read, getting lost in the words in front of you.
His fingers trace the shape of her body as her breath hitches. Stopping at the edge of her panties and gives her a smirk before he brings his mouth close and brings the fabric down with his teeth. She lets out a breathy moan as she feels his teeth grazing against her ski-
“Whatcha reading?”
A shriek escapes your lips and the book falls into your lap. You quickly cover your mouth at the noise you made. Heat radiates off your cheeks as you look up and see a ghoul. Your reflection staring back at you in the goggles of his mask.
You gape at him for a minute and remember he said something. He stares back in an almost giddy manner Slowly bringing your hand down from your mouth, “W-what?”
He grins sheepishly, “Your book,” he nods to your lap, “I was wondering what you were reading.”
Your blush returns and you wave it off, “oh, just some silly little romance novel.”
His grin turns into a teasing smile, “Sureee, that’s why you dropped it so fast.”
“You scared me!” You try to defend yourself but fail as a small smile fights through. His grin grows bigger and so does yours.
“I’m (Y/N),”
He stares at your hand in front of him. He places his in yours and shakes it slowly.
“Phantom.”
Your eyes glance behind him to see his tail waving in excitement. “You’re the new ghoul Papa summoned for the band, right?”
He grows shy, “Y-yeah.”
You sense his uneasiness and give him a gentle smile, “Well, I’m excited to see you play.”
His face lights up, “Really?” You nod and he grows excited, “I have been practicing with Sodo and I’m getting really good!”
You check the time and your eyes widen as you realize you're late for a meeting with Primo. You stand up and grab your book and coffee. “I’m really sorry, I have a meeting wit-”
Phantom grabs your wrist to stop you, “Do you think maybe I can play for you sometime?”
You’re surprised. An invitation to hang out with someone? It’s been so long. You give him a happy nod.
He jumps up, “Great!”
You begin to walk away before you turn around and give the ghoul one last smile, “It was nice to meet you, Phantom!”
His tail begins to wave back and forth in excitement as he gives you a wave goodbye.
Sodo stands next to him, getting hit with Phantom’s tail. He gives a shove to his side, “Cut it out.”
“Sorry.” Phantom gives him a sheepish grin.
“We got to work on that.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Phantom continued to see each other after the first guitar session. He showed you tricks he was learning to play on tour, his solos, and even offered to show you how to play to which you politely declined.
He would meet you at the library when he wanted to see you. He would find a book to read and the two of you would curl up in chairs next to each other in the back of the library. Your heart fluttered the first time you had glanced over and saw him entranced by the book in his hand. His mask laying on the arm rest next to him, you got to study his features. How his hair slightly covers his face or how he bites his lip when he reads. You smiled to yourself and continued to read.
The following library visits turned to him picking out cheesy romance novels for you to read, purely judging by the covers, and you picking out some books for him. You both share a couch now and end up with his head in your lap.
You run your fingers through his hair, reading the page. Bringing your hand up, you turn the page and Phantom lets out a whine at the loss of contact.
You don’t notice, too busy with the words in front of you. Your fingernails gently scrape against his scalp. He lets out a choked moan. Yet again you don’t notice.
After a while you put your book down and glance down at the ghoul. You sigh, “You have such pretty hair. I hope you know that.”
A blush grows on his face but looks up at you steady eyes, “Yeah, well, you have such a pretty face. I hope you know that.”
Your laugh fills the quiet back section of the library.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were having a rough night. You had seen your ex and ex friends hanging out together and it triggered a panic attack.
You sat, hidden away in a back aisle of the library, with your knees to your chest. Keeping your head down, you count your breaths.
Footsteps approach you. They stop and the person sits down next to you.
Peaking, you see Phantom looking at you with a tilted head. You shake your head before hiding in your arms.
You hear him take off his mask and feel him nudge you.
Not getting anything from you, he pulls you into his side. He didn’t need to know what was wrong, he just wanted to be there. He began to trace shapes on your back.
After you have calmed down, you place your head on his shoulder. “Panic attacks suck.”
Phantom hums in agreement.
The two of you sat in silence for a while before you spoke up slowly, “Would you run away with me?”
It was quiet again. “Hypothetically,” you add.
He turns his head, “I would go to heaven and back with you.”
You stare at him with glistening eyes. You never wanted anyone more. You send Papa a quick ‘thank you’ in your mind for summoning this ghoul. You wanted nothing more than to lean in. Phantom smiles at you, “Hypothetically,” he adds.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Phantom were the only ones in the practice room. You both sat on the couch as he practiced. He seemed off today but didn’t know how. He seemed extra twitchy. He brought up teaching you how to play again.
“Come on, (Y/N)!” He pleaded. He slid off the couch and onto his knees. He’s in front of you on his knees. You’re definitely mentally freaking out.
You rolled your eyes. “I’m not good with my fingers,” You pretend to play as a joke, “See?”
He grabs your hands, “Yeah, but I am!” Your heartbeat quickens. Your mouth goes dry and you pray he doesn’t hear the thumping of your heart. He pleads again, “I can show you.”
You don’t even know what to say. Does he know what he’s doing to you right now? “I-..”
He slowly gets up, hovering over you. He licks his lips and whispers, “Please, (Y/N).”
He nuzzles his head against yours before your neck.
“You’re not talking about the guitar anymore, are you?” you breathed out shakily.
You feel him shake his head, “Please let me touch you,” he whines into your neck.
You’re so close to hyperventilating, you can barely hear what he said. He slides back down on his knees, his hands gripping your thighs as he looks back up with you with needy eyes.
You grab his face and lean down to kiss him. Another whine leaves his lips as you touch him. His skin almost burning to the touch.
The door suddenly opens and in comes Swiss and Sodo. You jump back embarrassed.
Phantom whips his head around to the other ghouls and growls. Your eyes widen at the sound.
“Well well well. What do we have here?” Swiss grins.
Sodo elbows Swiss hard in the stomach, “Calm down Phan, it’s okay.”
Quickly getting up, you apologize. You’re too embarrassed. You’re not sure what you’re apologizing for but it’s the only thing coming out of your mouth.
Grabbing your stuff, you head to the door, “I’m sorry,” you look at Phantom, “I’ll see you later, okay?”
He nods. Realization of what happened hits him and he feels just as embarrassed and guilty.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Papa announced they would be performing at the Abbey, you were unsure if you wanted to go. It had been a week since the practice room incident and you hadn’t seen Phantom since.
Your thoughts have been too loud since. Maybe you offended him somehow or maybe he didn’t like you anymore. You’d gone to the library everyday in hopes he’d show up. Maybe you’ve read too many romance novels to still have your hopes up.
It was the night of the ritual and Siblings around you were buzzing with excitement. It had been a while since Papa performed for the Abbey and would be the first time the two new ghouls were to be performing on stage. Primo had essentially threatened you to come after you mentioned you were unsure. Needless to say, the old man can be intimidating.
The room is crowded and you make your way to the back of the room. You keep your head low, not particularly in the mood to see your ex and ex friends.
You felt anxious enough. Not only for seeing Phantom but you were nervous for him performing. He’s practiced so hard the past few months. You only hoped the siblings loved him on stage as much as you do.
The lights dim and screams erupt as Papa and his ghouls emerge on stage. You see him. Your anxiety disappearing as he begins to play Kaisarion.
You cover your mouth to hide your smile. He’s doing amazing. He displays such confidence you haven’t seen in him yet. He looks like a daydream. Your daydream.
Throughout the concert, he has become a favorite with the siblings as he blows kisses to the crowd and shows off his tricks like playing the guitar under his leg. Copying Sodo as he performs to the crowd.
You were unsure if he had seen you as the ritual nears its end. But Phantom had seen you as soon as he came out on stage. A light shined on you and he nearly tripped over himself. He knew if he stared at you, he’d get distracted and mess up the song.
The ritual ends with Square Hammer. The crowd singing loudly, nearing screaming the lyrics. With the final note, Papa thanks everyone for joining them. You cheer loudly with your heart full of pride. You need to tell him.
Phantom puts his guitar down before jumping off the stage. He has his head down as he makes his way through the crowd. He didn’t want to waste another moment without you.
He lifts his head up seeing you, you give him a small smile and little wave. He reaches you, pulling down his balaclava that was covering his mouth.
“I’m sorr-” he shuts you up by pulling you into a kiss.
You’re in shock for a moment before placing your hands on his and kissing his back.
Slowly pulling away with a smile, you both catch your breath. Your hands find the bottom of his mask, taking it off before pulling him into another kiss.
For the first time in your life, you didn’t care what anyone thought of you.
He pulls away first and looks down at you, “Hi.”
You grin, still holding his hands, “Hi.”
Giving his hand a squeeze, “You were amazing. I’m so proud of you,” you emphasized.
His hands caress your face, “I’m so in love with you,” he confesses.
You beam, “I’m so in love with you.”
The two of you walk out, his calloused hand in yours.
“So was that like a scene in one of your romance books?” He teases.
“Even better.” You cuddle into him.
“We can recreate the other scenes later.”
Your laugh echoes in the hall.
𝕻𝖑𝖊𝖆𝖘𝖊 𝖑𝖊𝖙 𝖒𝖊 𝖈𝖔𝖒𝖊 𝖍𝖔𝖒𝖊 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍 𝖞𝖔𝖚!
Pairing: ghouls & a baby ghoul, lowkey sodia, Swiss is so dad
Summary: after a great show, the ghouls make a haunting discovery
A/N: I told my fiancé I was pregnant during Mary on a cross and he flipped, also was bawling tears when they left the stage!! So here is a comfort thing I wrote to distract me from the concert blues.
Swiss yawned and stretched his back, he walked down the ramp from the once shiny and lit up stage.
“I could use a nap.” He said groggy, his vocal cords holding and letting go of his voice.
“Im so hungry.” Cumulus whined, following the ghoul as she fumbled with the button that kept her uniform closed around her neck.
“Im damn thirsty.” Mountain said, slouched over as he grew more and more exhausted. He felt his arms limp, and his ankle hurt.
“That was a great show!” Sodo said, rolling into the ghoulish pack with a confident smile. “I think each time we play here, I wanna come back.” He added, his eyes lit a flame.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love Nashville, but sometimes all of the noise from broad street is too loud.” Aurora said, catching up with them as her and rain covered their sensitive ears.
Rain winced in agreement as he hung with Aurora, phantom and cirrus.
“Wait.” Swiss said, his lead off the line coming to a hult as they approached the dressing room hall. “Do you guys hear that?”
“What is it now? It’s probably them blasting Johnny cash or something down the street.” Aurora rolled her eyes, but she quickly turned to Swiss as she heard the noise too.
“No. No no, that’s not music. That’s a whimper.” Swiss said, investigating with his pointed ears and pin point eye sight.
“Hm? It’s probably the meet and greet.” Mountain replied, looking at Swiss.
“No, that was after their set.” Swiss walked towards a corner of the venue, he came to a tall black curtain and hesitantly pulled it back.
“Uh-“ Swiss was at a loss of words as he saw what muffled crying was behind the curtain.
The rest of the ghouls followed in curiosity, only to be the same as Swiss with their jaws low and eyes wide.
“Uhm…how.” Cumulus tried to reason, as she looked at the frail kit curled up into his knees with hot wet streaks running down their cheeks.
“I’ll….I’ll get papa.” Cirrus volunteered and ran off as the rest of the ghouls ushered the kit to the dressing room.
“Are you alright? How did you get here?” Swiss asked, setting them into the vanity and kneeling down to seem less threatening in size. His eyes soft and his hair damp in sweat, “can you understand me?”
“What do you last remember?” Rain joined in before the door slammed open to reveal a confused papa.
“What? What’s going on?? What’s this about?” Papa copia pushed through the crowd of ghoul frustratingly.
He came to a point of no return when he was met eye to eye with little ghoul.
He had only been in a baggy tour shirt, the one with papas face menacingly staring at the earth as lightning struck the cities they played at. It covered the ghoul like a dress, and he had dark fuzzy black hair and pointy ears. His claws were so sharp they dug into the metal vanity and left marks.
“Oh dear.” Copia sighed, his tense position lessened as he kneeled down with Swiss. “You aren’t supposed to be here, are you.”
The little ghoul stared at him, his eyes unable to close and reopen as he sat so still you would think he was a statue.
Copia brought a hand to his head, but he heard a loud hiss and a sharp sensation at his hand as he noticed the leather of his glove clean slit like a fine blade. Copia looked at his eyes, slit pupils, wide eyes, long eye lashes, and he felt blood drip from his hand.
“Oh this just won’t do now will it?” Copia muttered, looking at his hand, “seems to be he was summoned.”
Sodo rushed to papas bloody hand, he held it and looked at him with concern, “Cardi, your hand.” He worried.
“Don’t worry about me, what matters is how and who summoned this poor bambino.” Copia softly smiled at the fire ghoul.
“Do you think…mm no.” Aurora held her chin, as so did rain and Swiss.
“The perpetrator knew it happened, they left him and clothed.” Copia took his glove off and pressed on his growing wound as sodo held his arm carefully.
“Do you, do you have a home little one?” Copia asked, bravely kneeling to the child again.
The kiddo looked him in the eyes as his chest heaved, “papa.” The kit whispered.
“Eh, yes I am papa.” Copia pointed at his chest, “you?” He then pointed to the kit.
The child’s eyes watched copias carefully, “star.” He slithered his name past his fangs.
“Home?” Copia asked, planting his knees on the dressing room floor.
“Dark, red…hot.” The ghoul frowned, “cold.”
“You want to go home?” Copia asked, “go home?”
The kit nodded eagerly.
“Alright, we will need to send him back to the pit.” Copia stood up and sighed.
The ghouls groaned in unison, “no!”
Copia looked around confused, “well what do you suggest we do then Hm?”
The ghouls looked at each other and then at papa, “take him home?” They proposed.
Copia was speechless, “take home a kit??? Mo- sister would kill me!”
Swiss took the kit and held him in his arms as he giggled at being thrown up so high, “we can teach him our ways.” Swiss smiled.
“Wha-“ copia looked at the other ghouls for answers before taking a moment of silence, “no.”
Swiss’s eyebrows furrowed, “what do you mean, no?” He bit.
“His home is In the pit!” Copia exclaimed.
The kit frowned at the loud noises, “home.” He muttered as he held tight to Swiss’s vest.
“Home.” He muffled again against his shoulder, “Swiss.”
The rest of the ghouls looked at papa with a silent smirk.
Papa looked around the ghouls, huffed, and looked at Swiss as he smiled in victory.
“Home it is.”
𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬
Just some headcanons about how I think Copia, Mary, and the ghouls would kiss you.
Copia kisses you like you're about to disappear and he doesn't know if he'll see you again. He cups your face, holds you close, takes it slow so the taste of one another may never leave your mouths again. He whispers against your lips, telling you how much he loves you and how he can't bear to leave you and that he would bring you on tour with him if he didn't think it would cause problems for Imperator.
Mary Goore's kisses come across as aggressive and bruising, but you know he's trying to show you with his actions rather than words how much he loves, wants, needs you. It's desperate hands pulling on each other, twisting into hair, Mary directing you to where he wants you. His teeth biting into your lip, a tongue pushing into your mouth. He's not comfortable with the vulnerability of saying "I love you", but his desperation for you is enough to tell you that he can't let you go.
Sodo is fiery passion and pushing one another up against walls. You make him feral, make him want to say fuck everything else, because in that moment you're all that he can see and smell and hear and feel and taste. He tries to engulf you, to swallow you whole, but in reality it's you who envelopes him with your heart, and you both feel it with the intensity of your kisses. There are times when you take it slower, savour one another, but it's when you devour each other that you feel that fire burn the brightest.
Aether kisses you slowly, gently, touches feather-light as if he worries he'll break you if he holds onto you too tightly. He's aware that he's the strongest out of the other ghouls physically, and so he's careful every time you kiss. His lips ghost over yours, they meld together so seamlessly, he caresses your face so gently it almost tickles. It's always you who has to deepen it, make it rougher, and he's okay with letting you have that control. Rather that than he hurt you. He couldn't live with himself if he harmed you trying to show you his love.
The kisses between you and Swiss are plentiful, the ghoul grabbing your face and placing kiss after kiss on your lips until you're giggling and pulling him in for a longer, deeper one. You press yourselves up against one another as much as you can, leaving little to no space between you both, and it's like you're in your own bubble. He has so much love, so much passion, to give to you and he'll shower it upon you as much as he can with each and every kiss.
A kiss from Rain is full of so much raw emotion, so much that he's too nervous to say to you in front of everyone else, because he's convinced - like Copia - that this kiss could be your last and he may never see you again. But the difference is that while Copia fears he'll never see you again because he knows there's a chance he'll suffer the same fate as the other Papas, Rain is terrified that you'll bore of him and go for one of the other ghouls. So he puts all his love, all his being, into all of your kisses, foreheads touching and noses brushing. And every time, you reassure him that you're not going anywhere. You love him, nobody else.
When Mountain kisses you, unless you're taller or the same height as him he always ducks his head to brush yours. Your kisses are always slow, leisurely, and it's like the two of you become one with each other and nature itself. You feel everything draw to a standstill as you cling to one another and allow yourselves to feel everything. Sometimes, when he takes you out to a secluded spot in nature, he'll sit and bring you into his lap as you both bask in one another's glorious love while you kiss. To the two of you, the rest of the world doesn't exist. There's just the two of you.
Sunshine is unadulterated joy and love. Kisses interspersed with smiles and laughter and pure adoration for one another. When your kisses sadly end, she looks at you as if you're the moon to her sun. Your fingers intertwine as you press your lips together, bodies as flush against one another as you can get, the bumping of noses that make you break apart and giggle. She radiates pure love and happiness and she channels that into the kisses you share, her tail gently stroking your cheek because she doesn't want to let your hands go.
Cumulus' kisses always taste of whatever she and Mountain have been baking in the kitchen. They're sweet, both in taste and in essence, as she holds onto your shoulders to keep you rooted where you are. She doesn't tell anyone else, but sometimes she worries that like the wind you'll blow away and she may never get to tell you again how much she cherishes and loves you. She tries her best not to make it so obvious with her kisses, but sometimes they're so filled with need that you have to reassure her that nothing could tear you both apart. You'd fight for her, do anything for her, and she is the same with you.
The way Cirrus kisses you is similar to Sodo in that they're full of heated passion, but not as aggressive. She's forceful, pushing a knee between your legs, tugging your clothes or your hair, but not to engulf you. She wants and needs to feel you, to know that you're just as real as she is, and that this isn't a dream. But when you fight back, trying to take control and dominate the kiss, it's your way of letting her know that you're very real and that she couldn't get rid of you even if she tried. There's biting, sucking of lips, squeezing of flesh, and both of your hearts rattling against your chests. In that moment, you both feel so electric and alive.
Copia x Male!Reader & Ghouls
Genre: SFW, angst, hurt, very little comfort
Summary: Copia and Male!Reader have been dating for a long time, the ghouls consider them parents even. The couple start talking seriously about settling down and even Copia retiring before he leaves for the last part of his tour, only to come back and have his dreams shattered.
Characters: Copia, Swiss, Sodo, Rain, Cirrus, Phantom, Aurora, Aether, Cumulus, Sunshine, Rain, Mountain, Phil (special guest for a special ghoul), Sister Imperator, Secondo, Terzo, Primo
Warnings: Death, major hurt, mentions of drugs that result in death, very little comfort, Sister Imperator and Phil (they deserve their own warnings for this one)
A/N: This one has been on my mind a bit because I wanted to write something sad but I'll admit, this kinda wasn't what I expected. This is also Sister Imperator's continuation of whatever her idea was with killing the three Emeritus brothers but taking it more personal, and I may have accidentally given her toxic mother in law vibes. I also cried while writing this so... GOOD LUCK!
Copia and you had been staying in bed all day, it was his short break in between doing his Europe tour and his USA tour. He didn't wanna do much and since most of his responsibilities were taken off his shoulders until the actual end of tour, he decided to just relax when he could.
You kept falling asleep and waking up randomly, your body had gotten plenty of enough sleep but the comfort both the bed and being cuddled by Copia made you sleepy. Neither of you got up other than using the bathroom or to get something to eat or drink, and neither of you planned on getting up today.
It was his last day before he had to catch a plan to head to the USA to finish up his tour, he wasn't gonna waste his time on something that demanded his attention and wanted his last day of break to be a relaxing one. He voiced his nervousness to you a few times, but that was all he would say when talking about the tour.
The day felt like it ended too soon as the night rolled in and Copia finally gave up on trying to stay awake and fell asleep for the night, you remained awake for a bit longer and cuddled him, hoping he'd sleep better so he was well rested enough to make his flight. Eventually, you fell asleep as well, your arms wrapped around his waist. You woke up the next day to an empty bed but a note was on Copia's pillow, you woke up a bit more before you read the note.
"Dear amore, I'm sorry we weren't able to say our farewells in person before I left but I couldn't disturb you when you were sleeping. As usual, I left behind one of my red jackets for you as you asked me to last time I went away. This tour will end up being a bit longer than last time but I assure you that I will be home eventually, and then we can start just being a family. All my love, Copia."
You couldn't help but smile while reading the letter, you sighed as you put the letter on your bedside table before deciding how you were going to spend your day today. Mostly you would either stay on yours and Copia's room doing whatever until he got back or you would go in about your day like normal, but since he was gonna be gone for a while, you could alternate between both.
The Ministry was very quiet without Copia and his ghouls, the Ministry was always a little bit quiet but it was eerily quiet without them. Copia always managed to call you after every ritual and check up on how you're doing, it was very sweet and sometimes he'd even fall asleep while on call. After a call with him after the LA show, you tried falling asleep.
Falling asleep without Copia was a bit hard for you, but you managed. You rolled over in your bed, now facing the door. Your eyes opened a bit and you saw a figure standing in the doorway, you didn't know who it was until the silhouette had a tail, now you knew it was a ghoul.
You didn't move, afraid to. The figure wasn't moving, just staring. You had always felt a bit vulnerable when Copia and the ghouls weren't around but now you really wished you had taken Copia's offer when he suggested that you join the tour with them.
The ghoul finally took a step closer, your heart pounding loudly in your chest. You tried to see if they were holding something but the darkness in the room made it hard to see anything, the lava lamp Copia bought giving very little light. You wanted to scream for help but you knew that sound didn't travel as fast as you would've needed it to in the Ministry and whoever this was would jump on you as soon as you made noise.
When the ghoul finally got close enough to you, you saw him holding a syringe. You didn't dare to question what was inside of it but you knew it wasn't good, that was when he tried to touch you. A small fight broke out between you two, you managed to knock the syringe out of his hand and it rolled away towards the bedroom door. The fight wasn't anything major other than you fighting for your life, you just needed to fend him off long enough for you to be able to run out of the room and to a dorm of siblings.
The ghoul managed to over-power you and someone rolled the syringe back to the ghoul, you weren't able to see them right away since you were panicking as the ghoul stuck the needle into your next and injected whatever liquid was in the syringe. The ghoul got off of you but you felt weak from both fighting and from whatever was just put into you.
You managed to roll onto your stomach and see who helped him, your eyes widened as Sister Imperator was ushering the ghoul out of the room. You tried to sit up but nothing was strong enough to keep you lifted long enough.
"Sister?" You managed to rasp out, catching her attention. "Why?"
She sighed before looking back at you. "I'm just doing what is best for the Clergy." Imperator simply stated before leaving the room, shutting the door behind her.
Copia grew worried his last couple show nights, you weren't answering his calls or texts. His ghouls noticed this and when they found out why he was so anxious, they talked to Aether and Sunshine, they still lived in the Ministry despite Sister Imperator wanting them gone.
Sunshine confirmed that she hadn't seen you in a while but thought you were just taking the relaxing time to yourself. Aether admitted to thinking that originally too but said that when he passed Copia's room yesterday, it felt too quiet. The ghouls decided not to tell Copia about anything the other two told them because it would've made him more anxious and try to cancel the rest of the shows just so he could come back home and see what was wrong.
Finally, the flight back home felt way longer than necessary due to everyone's anxiety about you. Copia honestly didn't know what to expect but he just hoped that you were okay, at least enough so he could be with you until further notice. What all of them didn't know was that Aether's feelings about this intensified and needed to know the answers, so on the day of their arrival, Aether went to Copia's room.
Upon initial arrival, Aether didn't notice anything that gave him info on your status. He gently knocked on the door, waiting for you to respond. When nothing came, he knocked again.
"Hey, it's Aether. You doing okay in there? Copia and the ghouls are coming back today." Aether called out, waiting for anything.
Nothing.
Aether gathered up the courage to open the door, he peeked inside the room before he noticed you on the ground, motionless. His heart dropped and he immediately was by your side, he shook your body and repeated your name, trying to get you to wake up. Finally he gave up and picked you up before bolting to the hospital wing, his mind was trying to think the worst but all he wanted to focus on right now was making sure you were okay.
Sunshine had sent him a text shortly after the doctors took you away, asking if everything was okay. Aether responded simply by texting.
"Wait by the main door. When they get here, lead them to the hospital wing."
Sunshine decided not to question and followed Aether's instructions, she ran the the main door and waited impatiently for the others to show up. When Copia and the other ghouls finally got there, she quickly told them all to just leave their luggage and to follow her. It was about you.
That was all that it took for Copia to follow very closely behind Sunshine, hoping his greatest fear didn't come true. Aether was pacing the waiting room and talked with them for a bit, telling all of them what he saw before a doctor came up to them.
"Is he okay?" Copia asked, his voice trembling a bit.
The doctor hesitated to respond, seeing as this was tearing all of them up inside. Finally he sighed before saying, "I'm sorry."
That was all it took for all of them. No one could help the tears that spilled out from their eyes. Copia was the first one to gather himself enough to further ask questions.
"What was the cause?" Copia asked, his voice laced in pain.
"We still don't know yet. We'll have to do an autopsy to pinpoint what it was." Silence was met with the doctor's answer. "I'm so sorry for your loss."
The doctor left, all of them had tears staining their faces. After a brief moment of silence, Sister Imperator walked into the hospital wing and saw them all standing there. She decided to wait until Copia came crawling to her to even touch the topic of your death, she quietly and quickly left the area and retreated back to her office.
The Saltarian, however, noticed this and decided to help them settle back home. He carried all their luggage back to their rooms without complaining and even showed some sympathy to Copia.
Tumblr media
It wasn't even a full day since they got back and everyone was quiet, word spread throughout the Ministry and now everyone knew. You had been a part of a lot of peoples lives in the Ministry and you were well loved by everyone, some even claimed to say they wished you were their guardian of sorts. All of these words of mourn and condolences flooded Copia's and the ghouls' ears, they were the closest to you after-all.
Copia talked sternly about having a proper funeral for you with Sister Imperator, who originally believed you didn't need one. As soon as Copia was allowed to hold the funeral, he set everything up. When it came to knowing who you were both as a Brother of Sin and who you were prior to the Ministry, Copia knew everything. He spent hours picking photos you would've wanted on display for the funeral and picked all the flowers out, remembering the specific flower you liked. Ironically, Primo's old garden, that's now taken care of by Mountain, had just enough of the right flowers for this event.
The day of the funeral finally came, no one had a dry eye. Copia tried his best not to cry too much since he needed to be semi-professional and because he didn't want to smudge his Papal paints. Copia had hoped the first time he'd hold something for you within the church would be yours and his wedding, not your funeral. All the ghouls didn't wear their masks, it was a well known secret you had that you preferred the ghouls maskless and they wanted to keep to your wishes.
Sister Imperator didn't show up, but Copia didn't care. She had started becoming bitter to you once you and Copia started talking about marriage, this pissed Copia off beyond anyone's expectations. A short piano version of the song "Life Eternal" was played by Cumulus, she gently hit some wrong notes by accident but it didn't take a rocket scientist to simply glance over and see her eyes filled with tears.
Copia did the first speech, he had two, one as Papa Emeritus IV and one as Copia Emeritus. Some ghouls and some siblings held some speeches as well, Swiss' ended up being the second most gut punching speech besides Copia's. Swiss basically saw you as a parent, that you and Copia were his dads. Most of the other ghouls felt that way too but Swiss spent more time around you, he was clearly in pain by your untimely death.
It was one of your wishes to be cremated when you died, no one knew it would happen so soon but they all agreed to give you what you wanted. The funeral ended and then you were taken away to become ash, everyone mostly just went into their rooms to let out the rest of their feelings or to break the barrier that held during the whole event. At least, that's what all the ghouls did.
Swiss screamed into his pillow, Sodo almost broke his desk, Rain drew a bath for himself and refused to leave it, Mountain curled himself up into a ball and couldn't stop crying, Cirrus felt too numb to do anything, Cumulus kept being reminded of you.
The new ghouls, Phantom and Aurora didn't know how to handle these strong emotions. Phantom went to Aether for help, to which Aether calmed him down and said, "Sometimes it's okay to just feel things and not talk." Aether then proceeded to hold Phantom through the night. Aurora went to Sunshine, she couldn't talk but couldn't control her sobbing. All she was able to get out was, "I miss him." Sunshine broke down with Aurora and they just held each other.
Copia wasn't handling this any better. By now, he's gone through almost all the stages of grief but now his stuck on acceptance. He still didn't know the cause of your death, until two days after your funeral, the autopsy report was sent to him via email. You were drugged... just like his brothers.
After printing out the email, Copia marched his way to Sister Imperator's room. He barged into her office and demanded answers, she questioned why he went after her first, to which he laid down plenty of explanations that were all valid. Before she could ask anything else, he slammed the printed paper down in front of her and demanded to know what was happening. She remained silent for a bit before say how her intentions were good, causing Copia to laugh like he was losing his mind.
"What makes you think killing has good intention?!" Copia shouted, his eyes boring into Imperator's.
"We shouldn't be fighting over this." Imperator tried to excuse, but Copia wasn't having it.
"No! I want to know what the fuck happened to him while I was gone!" Copia demanded, this was the only time she's ever seen him get this mad.
"I just wanted you to continue the bloodline." Imperator admitted, she knew that he wasn't going to take this well.
Copia went silent, letting what she just said sink you. "You killed him in hopes I'd fuck around with a girl like my father?!" Copia asked, his voice starting soft but got louder at the end.
"Not exactly!" Imperator tried to justify, but to no avail.
"That was why you hated him! Hate to break it to you, but I was going to do the responsible thing and lay low and start an actual family with him. Maybe then I would've been able to do something I was proud of, not something I was forced to do." Copia explained, his heart completely shattering.
Imperator was at a loss for words, she knew that if word got out, she'd be hunted like a monster by the whole church. After Copia asked if she had anything else to fess up to and no response from Imperator, he left. He went back to his room and let everything go, all his rage, all his pain, and even his faith. The ghouls heard to commotion and went to check on him after it died down.
They found him sitting on his bed, his head in his hands as the room looked like a tornado just went through it. Swiss was the first to his side, making sure he didn't physically hurt himself both on accident or on purpose. Aether asked what was wrong and Copia explained, not holding the truth back. Now all the ghouls hated Imperator, and when the ghouls hated you, they didn't hide it.
"I need to speak with him." You said urgently, not paying any mind to the alive people around you.
"He already knows." Secondo's voice booms in the halls, louder than you expected.
You froze, tears brimming your eyes. Since your death, the three brothers have been helping you adjust. They had been here all this time but no one could see them, their coffins had been warded so their ghosts couldn't be seen. Your vase or box must've been similarly warded.
"Besides, regardless of what you do, nothing will work. We've all tried communicating with him." Terzo added, he had been one of the first dead Papa's to try and reconnect to the living.
"This isn't fair." You muttered, now staring at your hands that were a light shade of blue and a bit see through.
"Nothing will ever be fair—" Primo tried to comfort, but it didn't work.
"No, you don't understand. We were going to get married after he got back. He promised me, he even bought a ring when he was in America, he showed me one that he was thinking about." You explained, the tears left your eyes but didn't go anywhere else.
The three all looked saddened by this, silence filled the room you were in. They had overheard from the afterlife that you and Copia were talking about settling down but they weren't aware that plans had been set in stone.
"I at least have to see him, I need to know he's okay." You muttered, all three of them quickly glanced at each other before nodding.
"You can stay next to him for as long as you need to, he won't know you're there, but if you're lucky enough, he might feel your presence." Terzo explained, he wanted to give you as much information about being a ghost as he could.
You thanked them before running to try and find him, you figured he'd be in his bedroom, and he was. He was now laying in the bed, staring at the ceiling. He laid on his side, almost as if expecting you to be beside him. You started to slowly approach him, not sure what to do. Copia reached into his pocket and pulled out a box, the engagement ring he bought inside it. You sighed a bit before getting in bed beside him, you hesitated cuddling into him but decided to say fuck it and go for it.
Copia tensed before he relaxed and huffed a laugh. "Hello, amore." Copia muttered, he knew you were there.
You stared at him in shock before chuckling to yourself and resting your head on his shoulder again. "Hey, handsome."
A wave of excited screams rises from the audience. Sweat trickles down the back of your neck, evidencing the energy you had put into the show.
The lights come on and you see how the other Ghouls begin to approach the edge of the stage to greet the fans. You don't stay behind and decide to get down from your platform to meet and joke with fans, where you dedicate some smiles and kisses that make the audience scream, which took pictures and recorded videos that you would soon see in forums.
Some fans would start pointing at you. You laugh, not knowing what they were referring to, although you soon realize what they were pointing at, or rather say, who they were pointing at.
You feel two forearms resting on your shoulders, generating enough pressure for you to fall and sit on your knees. You turn your head as best as you can and meet with Swiss's bright smile, who was looking at you with eyes that silently communicated that he was going to annoy you. He always transmitted that irritating message.
Without getting off of you, he grabs your mask tightly and pulls it close to his face. Without warning, you receive a long lick on the left side of your mask. Furrowing your eyebrows, your shoulder nimbly seeks his weak spot in his abdomen to free yourself, but it was too late. Your mask was left with drool, and fans stretched out their cell phones as they recorded everything that happened and screamed in excitement. The Ghouls that saw the act burst out laughing, and at the same time Copia turned to look at the audience with a disappointed expression, disgusted by the Ghoul's actions.
Swiss quickly gets up and walks away wanting to escape another blow. His laughter manifesting as it came out of his mouth as he waved to fans. You were going to return it to him, and you would show no mercy….
Ok so I’m back, and I have ideas about volunteer!reader
I haven’t written anything on here since BEFORE Phantom and Aurora were introduced!! So it was time to come back i think
This isn’t really in any order, just whatever comes to mind
Found family Papas/ministry and gn!reader
So Phantom and Aurora get summoned almost a year after reader starts volunteering, so they’re getting used to being around humans and adjusting to being in a band n stuff
So possibly Phantom and Aurora x reader because I think it would be cute (in my head all the Impera ghouls are like 30 and up including all the other papa’s ghouls, and the two new ones are more early 20’s)
Also possible Sleep Token Crossover because i think it would be funny. Like they stay over at the ministry for some reason, and everyone (especially the ghouls) are protective of reader. Anytime the Vessels walk into the same room as reader or reader walks into a room with any of them, reader is getting escorted out by someone from the ministry with some stupid excuse
And in that case then there would be a chance of the Vessels x reader. Im thinking they’re a younger band, and the Vessels were human at one point, but after dealing with their deity Sleep, they’re not quite human anymore. Whatever they are kinda sets off the ghouls because they can’t really detect them like they would with “normal” magic. More cryptid
The Vessels actively seek out the reader and Phantom and Aurora are just dragging reader away whenever they get a whiff of the Vessels
I don’t think the Vessels will ever talk, mainly communicating telepathically to each other and just staring at anyone else lol. Just generally unsettling to everyone around them.
The more i talk about the Vessels the more i want to include them so I think I’m gonna
It’s canon now sorry guys (not sorry)
Papa emeritus IV X Ghoul!Mom!F!Reader (Part 1)
Ghouls age different than humans. (Y/N) was a perfect example of this fact. Through her many years in the abbey, she was unchanging, compared to her human counterparts. Keeping almost the same unearthly grace and beauty she had the day they were summoned. She has seen so many faces come and go as she remained to same in appearance.
The quintessence ghoul had been around the abbey for as long as anyone could remember. Summoned nearly 7 generations of Papa's ago, by Papa Nihals grandfather. Before even the ghost project ghouls.
Due to this (Y/N) grew to hold humans, and even ghouls, at arms length. Leaving her private life her own. She was also known to rarely take lovers, if any at all. Tired of grieving the losses of companions throughout her time as a part of the ministry. This never stopped her from being kind, though. She took care of everyone around her. Making sure everyone is fed, clean, happy, and healthy. She had earned the nickname "Ma" and "Mama Ghoul" because of her motherly nature. Little does anyone know she is just that, a mom. A mom who misses her kit.
Part 2
You looked around the common area, making a mental checklist of the tasks that needed to be done. Placing your headphones in, you quickly got to work cleaning the areas. You were charged with keeping the ghoul dens clean, tidy, and stocked. It was just one of the many chores you completed daily. While most of the ghouls were out doing their own things, you would care for the dens. Ensuring everyone had a nice place to come to by the end of the day. The dens span over the east wing of the abbey. The different eras of the ghost project having their own spaces and one large den for the rest of the ghouls in the abbey. That's where your room was. You were currently in the den for the Imprea era ghouls. This one being made up of 12 bed rooms, only 8 of which were occupied, a common area, and a small but comfortable kitchen. It is the last ghoul den that needed done for the day.
   You make your way around gathering the different "nesting" materials laying in various areas of the room. Folding the blankets, you hang all of them one by one on the blanket ladders. You fallow by placing the pillows in their respective spots and putting the random articles of clothing stung about in the hamper. Wiping down and dusting the needed surfaces, you finish by vacuuming and taking out the trash. Doing a once over of the space, you deem it good enough. Pulling out your headphones, you look over to the clock on the wall. Quarter till noon. Almost lunch time. Turning off all the lights, you make your out into the hall. You would be back later that night. It was your turn to clean up after supper.
Making your way to the dining hall in the larger ghouls den, you grab a light lunch and make your way toward the emptiest table available. You prefer to eat in the ghouls den over the regular dining hall, like most ghouls. Avoiding the crowds and loudness that comes with dining with all the siblings of sin. You avoided them whenever possible. Hearing heavy footsteps approaching, you turn slightly. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot a very unpleased looking Sodo making his way towards you. His tail thrashed behind him violently. Reaching the table, he pulls out his chair and throws himself in it, arms crossed, looking straight ahead. If his body language didn't signale that he was pissed, the heat rolling off his body in waves sure did. Blinking at him, you note the ghoulettes, swiss and rain take a seat further down to long table beside Sodo. You also take notice of the absence of two other ghouls that were typically with the group. Turning your attention back to Sodo, you search for an explanation. "Hey, what wrong?"  You asked Sodo softy. He looked over to you and seemed ready to explode. "They pulled Aether from the upcoming tour. Ma, the fuck are we supposed to do?" His out burst startled you slightly but you were quick to recover. Sodo retracted into himself trying not to let grief and anger over take him. Casting a glance at the others they seem to be in a similar states of distress. Grabbing onto Sodo, you drug him into a standing position with little to no protest. Nodding for the others to fallow you, you leave your lunch abandoned on the table. Leading them all to you room to avoid unwanted attention. "Where is Aether and Mountain?" You asked, opening your door to let everyone in. "Aether is still with Copia and Sister Imperator. Mountain is probably in the garden. He split off after we left practice."  Swiss answered. The taller ghoul did not come to you in search of comfort as often as the others did. You never pushed him to either. He would when he needed it.
    Sitting down on the ground in a circle, you had Cumulus to your left and Sodo to your right. Opening the arms, you let him lean into you. You had always had a soft spot for him. He reminded you of your kit in ways. High energy and a quick tongue. Then again, Rain and him shared similar traits to. You had not seen him in so long.
   "Okay, tell me what happened." You throw out. Everyone started talking at once, overlapping each others words. "Hey! Okay, one at a time!" You called out. "We were in practice. Everything was fine, but Sister Imperator came in and announced the need for a band meeting." Rain answered first, Cirrus picking up where he left off. "Going on about pulling Aether and summoning a replacement. Blah, blah, blah. We don't need a replacement! Aether is just fine!" She throws her hands up, tail thuding on the floor. "Did Papa know? Was he part of the decision?" You pushed. "I don't think so. He was pretty upset, too."  It was Cumulus' turn to answer. The thought pained you a little. You had met Copia in his early twenties, but only getting to learn who he was as a person when he had become Cardinal. He was awkward but had always been kind and did not ask for a lot. He never treated you any different than he did any human. Occasionally, you would run into each other in the garden or in the halls, and he would always take the time to exchange pleantries or take a short walk with you. He had also asked to help if you were working on chores every now and then. You had become quite fond of him. None of that changed even after he became Papa, though you did see him less and less.
    "He was trying to talk to Imperator with Aether when we were dismissed."  Sodo mumbles into your shoulder. "They can't take Aeth away. I don't understand." Looking down at the fire ghoul, you rubbed his back in a comforting manner. Using some of your quintessence for added affect. "Was it explained why they are replacing him?" You asked. It didn't make much sense to you why they would. Aether is one of Copia's longest standing ghouls. He was also fiercely loyal. They all were. To there Papa and to each other. Everyone stayed quiet for a moments, the tension that had slowly been dissipating started to rise once more. "Sister Imperators' only reasoning was something about the need for someone new. Possibly someone younger."  Swiss's words made your blood turned to ice, tail twitching and ears flattening back. You had heard something similar said by Sister Imperator some time ago. It ended with a certain Papa you had considered a close friend dead.
      Aether was one of the older one in the group, yes, but they had just introduced Aurora to the band in place of Sunshine for this tour. "I'm going to go talk to Papa. See if I can't figure out more of what's going on." You let a pouting Sodo sit up, getting to your feet. "You guys are free to lounge around in here if you want. I'll be back later."  You quickly made her exit, closing the door softly.
------
    Sodo looked at the ghouls around him. Ripping his mask off, he flops back with a groan. "This is turning out to be a shit day. And to top it off (Y/N)'s upset now, too."  Sodo sounded defeated. Sodo had an attachment to the older ghoul. She had always had a way of calming him and getting him to talk. Always being there to help. Burn a hole in his clothes? No problem, she'll add patches. Have a headache? She'll offer to rub your neck and temples. He had always been able to rely on her. So had all the others. "We should probably go find Mountain and see if Aether is out of the meeting yet." Rain suggested. Everyone grumbles their agreements. Collectively, they stood and made their way to the door, Sodo slipping his mask back on.
------
    You had checked the practice room first in hopes of finding Copia. No such luck. You now found your at his office door. Taking a second to breath, you reins in your thoughts. You knew getting attached to anyone would get you in unwanted situations again, but the group had weaseled their way into the spaces of your heart.
    With a sigh, you knocked on the door and waited a second for a reply. After hearing a muffled "Enter," you let yourself in. Moving into the office, it smelt heavily of burning incense. Looking around the room, you take in the different details. From the couch to your right to the little trinkets that litter one of his bookshelves on the left. (E/C) eyes finally settled on Copia at his desk. "Oh! Fiore! Please, sit! What brings you here?"  He scrambled to clean up his desk and make himself presentable. "I am far from a fragile little flower, Papa." You giggled, taking a seat in the chair placed in front of his desk, tail curling up towards your thigh. Soft eyes take him in. He looks like he'd been crying. His eyes are bloodshot and puffy, and his papal makeup smeared beyond saving. "Not all flowers are, cara, some are deadly and have a bite to them. And please! Call me Copia." He graces you with a soft smile.  "Now what brings a bel fiore, such as yourself, to me today?" Sigh softy, you lock eyes with Copia. "Your ghouls came to me about today. What's going on? They are all angry and upset." Copia's faces falls and a sadness seeps deep into his eyes. Slumping back into his chair, he takes a deep breath. "I am assuming you are talking about the Aether situation?" You nod. "Sister is using it as a form of punishment for me. I am not meeting her expectations. This is her way of telling me, "Get your act together."" He says the last part in a mocking manner. A look of shock crosses your face. "I hope she realizes that you are not the only one that she is punishing with this. The entire band will feel this. It will affect them all on an almost catastrophic level! Aether is an important part of the band." A look of desperation falls over his face. "(Y/N), fiore, I am well aware. Ma cosa devo fare? I tried. She would not budge. I realize what is at stake here, but there is only so much I can do!" They both go silent for a couple of moments. Realization settled in the pit the pit of your stomach. He truly had no control over her decisions. Copia rans his gloved hands over his face, smearing the papal paint more. "Is she sending him back to the pit?" You whispered the question.
You half yearned to go back, but afraid of what you would do if the time ever came. You had been in the abbey so long. You would leave so much behind, but what about what you had left in the pit. You were giving up something either way. "Lucifer, no! That is something I would never allow! This could just be temporary. I will figure something out. Sister plans to summon the new ghoul next friday."  9 days from now. You studied him. He looked truly exhausted. "You're going to have to go talk to them."  Copia let out a defeated sigh, "I know."  "They are devastated." "I know. I know."  "So what are you going to do?" He sat in thought at the question. He was good with the ghouls. They were his family, but this was uncharted territory for them all. "Will you help me talk to them?" He seems unsure of himself at his own question. When you didn't answer immediately, he started to ramble, neck and ears turning red. "You don't have to if you don't want to! I just figured the ghouls hold you in a high regard and that -" "I'll help." You cut him off, offering a small smile. "When do you want to do it?"  Copia visibly relaxed. He was honestly slightly surprised that you agreed. "After supper tonight? After they have eaten?" Copia suggested. You nodded. "That'll work. I have supper clean up for their den tonight."
Copia smiled at you. "Molto bene! Then it is set! Meet at the den around 6:30?"  "That works."  Setting his hands on his desk, he is a little more cheerful.
     "Now that we have a plan, tell me,  il mio fiore, how have you been? Our little chats have grown to be few and far between. I think about you sometimes, though!" His word brings a small blush to your face. "I have been alright, I suppose. Just busy. How have you been, Copia?"
      "I have been very busy myself. With all my duties as Papa and now the in coming tour. It's has been quite a lot to handle, but we make due. Sister is not always pleased I have found." Copia quiets at the end. "I will get everything under control, though. I just have to, emmm, figure it all out."  He says with what seems to be almost a fained confidence. Like he was trying to convince himself more than you. "You can ask for help, Copia. With all your duties and paperwork." You flick one of the many piles of paper on his desk. "You know that, right? You truly are not alone in this. I'm sure most of us would be willing to step in and help if you just ask."  Copia stilled, as if what you said surprised him. "I could never ask anyone to take on my work. Especially on top of everything you all already do." You giggle softly at him. He is so stubborn.  "Copia, I'm sure it would be fine. Hell, I'll help you get caught up every night after my chores if you need. You have a lot on your plate right now and have to prepare to welcome a new ghoul into your circle soon. That's not going to be an easy feat. I bet you could get it done in no time if you let people help." Copia took in every word.
     The man had always liked you. He had developed a small crush on you in his younger years. He never could quite get over it, but he never acted on it too much, either. The occasional flirty compliment or a small effort to go out of his way to make conversation, but nothing past that.  "I suppose you are right. I appreciate the offer, fiore. Truly, but you have much on your plate as well. I will take your advice and look into getting help."  You laughed gently. Moving to stand up, you offered a small smile. "I hope you do. I have chores the need finished, so unfortunately, I'm going to cut our time short. Thank you for your time. I'll see you at 6:30." Copia makes his way around the desk and over to the door. "Yes, thank you for coming to me. I will see you then." He opens the door for you. Stopping at in the frame, you look back to him. "Oh, and one more thing." He waits a moment. "They regard you just as high. Don't ever doubt your ghouls." With that, you take your leave. Closing the door, Copia strides back to his desk. Taking a seat, he let out a long breath. He has a lot to think about.
Ghoulette! Reader POV
I was still getting used to the ghouls' den and every time I left I ended up getting lost, wandering around aimlessly and hoping to make sense of the endless rooms and corridors. A handful of times, I had been spotted by other ghouls and siblings of sin but I pretended I knew where I was going, like I was doing something specific. It was ridiculous, childish even, but I already felt stupid enough.
"Hey Peach, how're you doing?" I jumped as Cirrus popped up beside me, my hand pressing to my chest to settle the pounding of my heart.
"I'm okay." I hesitated with my answer, I didn't want to her knowing I had been avoiding them all, not knowing how to act when they were all so close to one another. I was an outsider. "How are you?"
"Y'know you don't have to be so formal Hun, we're friends aren't we?" I let my eyes meet hers for a second before nodding softly. "Well, I have a job to do for Papa so I'll see you back at the den okay?" I nodded as she bounced away and spun to leave the abbey before anyone else could collar me.
As I wandered out into the cloudy gardens, I got lost in my thoughts. We're we friends really? I had only been here two weeks and in that time I hadn't really interacted much with them. They had offered me my own personal room in their den and I had been quick to accept. I had noticed the way they tended to pile together or cuddle in smaller groups in each other's rooms whilst I hid away. Nobody had mentioned it to me and part of me was convinced they didn't care, didn't want me to pile with them and it made my chest seize painfully.
Without realising it, I stumbled through the gardens and towards the greenhouses. The rain had soaked me, leaving me shivering, the smell of freshly wet earth and greenery permeated my senses as my heart raced almost as fast as my heart. Gripping the edge of the seedling table before me, I bowed my head as I tried to control my breathing.
The sound of someone clearing their throat startled me and I squealed in surprise, eyes widening as a few plant pots smashed to the floor. My eyes moved to meet the person, filling with tears from my blunder. Mountain's eyes looked back at me from where he was dead-leafing his plants.
"I am so sorry." I gasped, tears threatening to slip over the edge. "I didn't mean to, I just jumped and they fell. I can fix it, I'm really sorry." My pleading trailed off into a sob as my tears got the better of me. My hands shot out in front of me as Mountain stalked over. Fear gripped me as I got flashes of the claws and eyes from the creatures of the pit and I cried out as his hands grabbed my shoulders. The towering ghoul pulled me closer to him, uncaring of my sodden clothes and pathetic state. My head rested against his diaphragm as he rubbed his thumbs against my collarbone. His hands covered the entirety of my shoulders, their warmth bleeding into my skin.
I let my body slump against him when I realised he wasn't going to hurt me. My fingers twitched against his stomach as I fought the instinct to wrap them around him. Unrelenting whimpers worked their way from my throat as tears continued to spill under my mask. The ghoul didn't seem to care about the horns digging into him as my body shuddered with cold and overbearing emotion.
"I'm so sorry," I cried, my fists curling into his shirt. "I'm sorry, didn't mean to, was an accident. I'll fix it. I swear." I squeezed the words out between sobs that rattled through my chest.
"It's okay, I know, you're okay." My body tensed as he moved his hands off my shoulders. I didn't dare look at him as he did whatever it was he was doing. Holding my breath, I let Mountain unclasp the back of my mask and listened to his steady breaths as he slipped it off and placed it on the table. "Look at me." The command caught me off guard but I did as I was told and let my eyes meet his. My breath caught in my throat at the sight of his massless face as he looked down at my tear-streaked face. "What happened?" I couldn't understand the comfort that bloomed in me as he looked down at me with concern.
"Cirrus said we were all friends but I haven't done a very good job at getting to know all of you and I've hidden away because I didn't want to disturb anyone o cause any problems. You're all so happy and comfortable and I didn't want to ruin that but it hurts in my chest because I don't have that. I want to be able to be like all of you but I haven't really been close to anyone since I came here. I've ruined every opportunity to make friends or join in." I rambled on, tears dripping onto my shirt as he listened patiently. "Now I've ruined your beautiful plants and you're probably mad at me and I'm sorry." A shake of his head and a finger on my lips put a stop to my painfully anxious rambling.
"Buttercup," my heart softened a little at the nickname. "I'm not mad at you. They can be fixed and repotted. It's not a big issue. As for Cirrus and the rest of us, we've had plenty of time t get to know each other and you could never ruin or disturb anything. But if you want to be like the rest of us and have the same kind of relationship then we can work on it together if that's what you want. I know that we all want you to join us and bond with the pack so there'd be no arguments if you wanted to."
An unfamiliar warmth spread through me from his words and before I could stop myself, the walls I had so carefully built crumbled along with my resolve. Throwing my hands around the bigger ghoul, I anchored my hands into the back of his shirt and cried against his body, relief flooding through y system alongside the cocktail of emotion.
Careful hands wrapped around me as the rain thundered against the greenhouse roof, not quite drowning my anguish. As the tears began to dry up, I noted how I had burrowed into him as much as I could. Exhaustion rushed through my limbs as I clung to Mountain. It didn't take much for him to notice my shivering and shakey legs or the dark circles that had accumulated under my eyes.
"I'm going to put my mask back on, Buttercup." He muttered softly like he was worried he would scare me. "Then I can get you back to the den. Warm and safe." I nodded against his shirt, wiping my face on my sleeves, grimacing in disgust at myself. "Come on, let's get you back." I blindly felt for my mask, my vision blurred by tiredness and tears.
"You don't need that on, I'm going to carry you if that's okay? Your legs are like jelly and I don't like the idea of you stumbling the distance." Sweetly, he tucked my hair behind my ears and wiped a stray tear from my face. I held my arms up in a child-like manner, lip quivering as he smiled down at my silent consent. He bent down slowly and wrapped my arms around the back of his neck before straightening up, hooking my legs around his waist. Mountains hands rested under my thighs, claw digging in slightly but the feeling grounded me as my heart rate settled a little.
The walk up to the abbey consisted of my face being buried in the junction between his neck and shoulder as the rain bounced down on us, soaking us to the bone. One hand stayed under my thighs as the other rubbed up and down my back soothingly. I felt myself dissociating, not noticing the change in atmosphere as we entered the building, warmth replaced the cold wind and dry air replaced the rain. Mountain's chest rumbling was my only indication that he was speaking; words didn't register in my head.
"She's been like this since we left the greenhouse, I tried to talk to her but I don't think she heard a word of it." An earthy scent mixed with the crispness of rain drifted from the ghoul's skin, soothing me as my mind's fog cleared slightly.
"We should change her clothes at least, you're both going to freeze." The softness of Cumulus' voice reached my ears and I fought with my body to shift my head. "Hey pumpkin," she crooned, stroking my wet hair from my eyes.
The walls of their den came into focus as I shifted my eyes around. The whole pack of ghouls had removed their masks and seeing the faces filled with concern and anxiety made guilt creep in.
"Why don't we get you warmed up, and let mountain do the same?" The ghoulette held out her hand as Mountain uncurled my legs from his waist. I looked up at him unsurely as he placed me on my feet but slid my hand into the waiting one and trudged towards her bedroom after a reassuring smile.
As she settled me on her dressing table stool, she hummed to herself whilst she shuffled through her drawers. Letting my eyes follow, I admired the smoothness of her steps and the sureness of her movements. It amazed me how beautiful they all were, breathtaking no matter what.
"We're friends right, cumulus?" I bit my lip as she froze.
"Of course we are pumpkin." Pyjamas were placed on the edge of the bed as she knelt in front of me. "We all adore you, I adore you." A blush spread across my chest and neck as she brushed her thumb over my cheek.
"Good," I hesitated for a moment. " do you think, if I tried my best, I could become a part of your pack?"
"Well, as far as I'm concerned little ghoulette, you already are." Her smile lit up her face perfectly and I couldn't help but return it. "Okay, ill turn around and let you change. Your skin is like ice." I wrestled the wet clothes off, drying myself and slipping on the soft cotton pyjamas. Once I was done I tapped her shoulder and smiled as she spun around, holding me at arm's length to check they were okay. They were a little big but that just meant more fabric to snuggle into.
"Let's go and show the others, you cutie patootie." I laughed at the name, nose twitching as she tapped it playfully. Slipping my hand into hers, we wandered slowly back to the group in a warm and comforting silence.
"Yeah but why? Does she not like us? Did we say something, do something?" I stood just outside the door, squeezing Cumulus; hand to ask her to wait. "And what was with the flowers when you brought her back?" Dewdrop's ranting was incessant and Cirrus tried and unfortunately failed to reign him in.
"I. Don't. Know. Dewdrop." Mountain sounded stressed and pent up; something I had obviously caused. "I know it wasn't me so it must've been her."
"Ah-hem," clearing my throat, all eyes flew to us and I shrunk back against cumulus. "Dewdrop, I do like you, I like all of you. The problem is I feel like I've never had a proper bond. This is unfamiliar to me and you guys are so used to it with each other. Nobody has said or done anything wrong, I'm the one that hasn't made it easy and I'm sorry I've made you all stressed and exhausted but ill be better." I wrung my fingers together, head bowed to the room.
"Sweetheart," Rain's voice was gentle and quiet, especially calming to everyone in the room. "You did nothing wrong, it's been a tricky few weeks for you and you've been thrown in the deep end. We're just glad you're okay and we can work on it at your pace, okay?" Ever the voice of reason, he lifted my chin to look at everyone, smiling as I nodded with a sign of relief.
"I still don't get the flowers." Dewdrop hissed to Aether who groaned dramatically. My face screwed up in confusion at the fire ghoul's comment.
"You have flower's in your hair, Doll." Aether trudged over, plucking one from behind my ear and placing it in my hand. I stared down at the yellow petals, eyes flickering to Moutain.
"Oh, it's a chrysanthemum." Fiddling with the stem, I watched the earth ghoul. "did you put it in my hair?"
"No, you have about a dozen all over." His answer only added to my confusion. "Sometimes they symbolise sadness." My eyes widened at his words.
"D'you think, maybe." I pointed at my chest as he nodded. "Does this mean I'm an earth ghoul too?" My eyes lit up despite the exhaustion.
"It could do, Peach." I squealed a little in excitement, jumping on the spot. "It's amazing and exciting but you've been hit with a lot today. I think perhaps it's time for some rest." Cirrus raised her eyebrow at me as I stumbled a little, caught by Cumulus' hand on my hip.
"M'Kay," a yawn ripped from me as I began to notice just how tired I really was. "D'you think I could stay here tonight, think I wanna snuggle?" Rubbing my eyes, I let myself be guided to their pile.
"You're more than welcome to stay, you need the warmth anyway because of the weather."
"Here, ill warm you up." Dewdrop wiggled his eyebrows suggestively as I crawled over, a sleepy laugh being pulled from me. "Come on tiny, time to sleep."
Mountain cuddled in behind me, his big frame acting as a cushion as Dewdrop wiggled under my arm, head on my shoulder. I really could understand why it was a 'pile' once everyone settled and couldn't help the smile as warmth encased me.
"'Night everyone." They all uttered and whispered their replies before soft hums rumbled in their chests. Before I had the chance to ask what it was, my eyes slid shut, drifting to sleep surrounded by something I didn't realise I was missing.
Aether Ghoul x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 1k
Warnings: so much fluff bc I am in love with this man/ghoul
A/N: part two maybe?? With smut and more fluff? If you guys want of course! Please let me know!
On another note - I am so so sorry for the delay. School has been so hectic and since I’m heading towards finals it’s just been a lot for me and haven’t felt like writing when I go to bed but I’m officially on a short break for thanksgiving!
Much love for all of you. Please enjoy <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aether won’t admit it but he loves how needy you are. From constant touches to kisses, he could never say no to you. Dewdrop would constantly tease him but he didn’t care. Aether thought he was the luckiest ghoul to be able to have you.
What Aether would deny is that he is just as needy as you are.
For how much the ghouls craved intimacy, Aether swore you cover it more and you’re not even a ghoul. You couldn’t help it. Aether was a hunk and you can’t keep your hands to yourself.
Aether was not big into PDA but that doesn’t stop him from sneaking kisses or touching you.
You were lounging in the library with a book in your hands. It was snowing outside and the library has a fireplace which makes it the perfect place to relax. Aether had been looking all over for you but should have known where you'd be. Once he saw the snow outside the windows, he knew you were in the library. You felt your ghoul’s presence behind the couch. His musky scent fills your nose which brings a sense of comfort over you.
“Hello, my love,” you greet him while tilting your head back to look up at him. You pucker your lips, waiting for a kiss.
“Hi, darling,” Aether greets back. His eyes glance around before he leans down and places a gentle kiss on your lips.
You smile into the kiss. Pulling away, you pat the cushion next to you on the couch. He walks over without hesitation. He sits down, his body making a few cracking noises. A groan of relief leaves his mouth at the feeling of sitting down.
You let out a laugh and kiss his cheek, “My old ghoul,”
In response, you got an eye roll and a mumble something about you saying that when he fucks you later. He gives you another kiss on the lips.
He picks up your legs and puts them across his lap. He immediately starts caressing his fingers up and down your legs, occasionally giving squeezes. One thing about Aether was that he loves skin to skin contact.
He looks at you with pleading eyes you couldn’t exactly see because of the goggles and a pout, “Read to me, please?”
You scooch closer to him and give him a quick kiss. You get comfortable before you start reading from your book. You happened to be reading The Metamorphosis. You picked it because you remembered reading it in high school and finding it to be very comical.
Aether sat there, eyebrows furrowed as he listened to you. He even stopped his hand movements trying to listen. You try not to laugh, his reaction was very similar to yours when you had first read it. You stopped reading.
“Aether,” you paused, “would you still love me if I turned into a bug?”
He let out a bellow of a laugh. Your body moves with his laugh. He gives your thigh a squeeze, “Darling, it is the greatest pleasure to love you but I might have to draw the line at a bug.”
You look at him in disbelief and faked offense. “Well, the new masks makes you look like a bug, so,”
Aether quickly pinches your hips in return causing you to let out a squeak. His hands stay resting on your waist. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you curl up into him. You begin to play with the buttons on his vest as you listen to his heartbeat.
A light snore disrupts the silence after a few minutes of bliss. Lifting your head, you lean in close and see Aether’s eyes are closed through his goggles.
You stifle a yawn before you gently poke his chest, “Babe, wake up.”
You feel him twitch beneath you.
“I’m just resting my eyes,” the ghoul mumbles.
You fight the urge to roll your eyes. That was such an old man thing to say. You knew he was exhausted from practice so you untangle yourself from his grip to try to get him up. His bed is very comfortable and he needs his rest. Plus you wanted to see his face and be alone but that’s besides the point. You begin pulling on his arm, “Come on, Aether.”
His eyes shot open once hearing his name come out. If Aether’s being honest, he doesn’t remember the last time you called him by his name rather than a pet name besides in bed.
“Let’s go to bed-..” before you had the chance to finish, Aether picked you up and threw you over his shoulder. You let out a giggle, “I didn’t mean it like that.”
He chuckles, “Maybe I did.”
He picks up The Metamorphosis as you guide him to where to put it back. You laugh as you attempt to give him directions, still hunched over his shoulder. Your ghoul wasn't much help in the situation as he kept laughing and pinching your thighs or butt when you messed up which made you squirm and laugh harder.
“Why do you keep messing up, huh?” At this point he’s full on tickling you. Once you catch your breath and wipe the tears from laughing, he earns a slap on the ass for that.
After several failed attempts and laughs from Sister Margaret, the librarian, you and Aether had finally managed to get the book back in the correct spot. A small but mighty victory if you must.
Aether bid Sister Margaret good night as he walked you both out.
Propping yourself up on his back and moving your veil out of your face, you waved good night to the older woman. You give her a meek smile, “Have a good night, Sister.”
“You too, dear,” Margaret winks at you. Even though she was older (probably Sister Imperator’s age), she was still a sister of sin. So she wasn't blind nor oblivious with the two of you.
You can't help but flush red and Aether simply gives your ass a squeeze in return.
