the NASCAR supercorp au nobody asked for with a side of J’onn
((kara was originally sponsored by big belly burger, but after a tragic crash on the daytona speedway, and soon after Lena took over L-Corp (while also being one of Kara’s mechanics) she became Kara’s #1 sponsor ;) ))

how do you think Alex, J’onn, and Lena would have reacted to Brainy telling each of them about his inhibitors?
Ooh, this is a fun question.
I think the most interesting thing about considering the answer here is that while the Super Friends all see Brainy as family and vice versa, they all have remarkably different dynamics with him.
For Alex, she’s always been the protective older sister. I think often about the scene in season 4 that really cements that relationship for me, when Alex finds out that Brainy had been threatened and almost attacked when he was inadvertently outed as an alien. Alex was Kara’s protector for so long, it was almost second nature for her to take Brainy under her wing, and I don’t doubt that she’d have a similar if not stronger reaction when she found out what Brainy’s father had done to him. Honestly, I think she’d be promising to punch the guy straight into next week if he so much as tried coming close to Brainy ever again. She’d probably keep her threats light-hearted for the most part for Brainy’s sake though, and while she’d take what she’d been told very seriously, she’d also be able to throw in just enough outlandish ideas on what she’d do to Brainy’s parents if given the chance that she’d definitely be the first to get Brainy to crack a smile.
As for J’onn, well, he’s Space Dad in our hearts for a reason. J’onn may have started with just two adopted daughters, but as the Super Friends expanded, so too did his ever-growing list of chaotic children. There’s a really soft gentleness I can imagine in J’onn’s expression when Brainy tells him. Being more attuned to people’s thoughts and emotions as a Green Martian, I think that finding out how Brainy’s father had inhibited him would have nearly broken J’onn’s heart. Whether Brainy was expecting it or not, J’onn would have most certainly pulled him into a hug, and though Brainy isn’t quite sure how to respond to it at first, I think a part of him would find solace in that closeness, and kick-starts a healing process he may not have even been aware was required.
Basically, what I’m saying is Brainy deserves a proper father figure and J’onn ‘Papa Bear’ J’onzz more than qualifies for the role.  😉
As for Lena, I think she may actually be one of my favourites to conceptualise. It’s no secret that I love Lena and Brainy’s dynamic, especially because they both seem to understand each other in the absolute messiest way possible. Lena and Brainy are so alike at times that they end up agreeing on coping mechanisms that are just hilariously bad, but for this kind of a story, I don’t imagine Lena would offer much in words at all. Well, not at first, at least.
For Lena, hearing Brainy’s story would probably feel like getting dragged back down her own torrid memory lane. Lena and Brainy are both victims of abuse, victims of a family name they can’t shake for the life of them, and they both live with a fear that - perhaps - what people think about them isn’t far from the truth.
I think Lena would hold herself very still as Brainy told his story, her expression remaining impassive aside for the shimmering film of tears dancing across her eyes.
When Brainy finishes, though, that’s when Lena would break the tension by very decisively suggesting that they have a drink together. None of the cheap stuff, either, but the good bourbon she keeps in her office for rainy days, pick-me-ups or close calls with whatever recent foe has tried to kill her that week.
They’d drain that bottle together, and they’d spend the whole night exchanging stories about what awful things their parents had made them do, and everything they’d done in retaliation that had only drawn them further away from any pre-existing path set out for them. They’d rant, because they could, because neither one of them would face judgement from the other, and when the night was through, they’d mention it to no one. Not because it was intended as a secret, but because – for them – once they’d got it all out in the open, they wouldn’t see the use in lingering on it. To them, if they’ve let those emotions out, it’s gotta be over. Right?
Is it healthy? Nope. Do they both need proper therapy? Of course. But, for Lena and Brainy, their relationship is one of mutual benefit when it comes to sharing the darkest sides of themselves, sides they might fear that others would shy away from. Kara is always the first person to jump to their defence, to convince them of the goodness in their hearts, and she’s right to do so.
But, you don’t spend that long in the dark without picking up a couple of shadows.

mr. J'onn J'onzz for character meme :D
SPACE DAD!!!! (Thank yoooooooou)
Why I like them: There is SO MUCH to love about J'onn but I'm gonna try to keep it concise and coherent. J'onn hits a character trope I really like: Stern mentor figure who is ACTUALLY a big softy, and yeah, he's got those Good Dad Vibes in spades, but outside of the SpaceFam trio, J'onn's had a lot of really solid character arcs? He's struggled with survivor's guilt, he's had a crisis of faith and identity. He had a SECRET SIBLING ARC??!?!?!?! He went from running the sketchy DEO to being a P.I. (ANOTHER CHARACTER TROPE I LOVE!) and pillar of support in the alien community. BEAUTIFUL. CHARACTER. WORK. They've also touched on why J'onn, a shape-shifting alien, would choose to be a Black man here on Earth, which is not really something that's been explored in other media that features a Black J'onn J'onzz. (Obviously I think the show could do *more* with it but like. It's at least discussed, whereas elsewhere it's totally ignored.) He's easily my favorite version of Martian Manhunter, and they've done a great job of building a wonderful bond between J'onn and Kara. (And Alex, too! But I specifically mention the Martian/Kryptonian thing because, again, it's a theme that is rarely explored with other versions of the character and like. IT'S RIGHT THERE.)
Why I don’t: Error 404 Not Found
Favorite episode: “Manhunter”, with honorable mention to “Girl of Steel” for the scene on the rooftop with J’onn and Kara.
Favorite season: Season three because SPACE DAD FOR SPACE DAD!
Favorite line: “My name...is J'onn J'onzz.”
Favorite outfit: Okay his Martian Manhunter costume is Very Good but...but. I love 'P.I. John Jones' so I gotta give it to his suit+coat that he was wearing in “Deus Lex Machina”
OTP: Canon? M'gann. Crack fic? Eliza.
Brotp: I wouldn't call it a brOTP necessarily but I do love Papa Bear and his trio of children.
Head Canon: He’s got a pair of insanely nice headphones that were a gift from Alex and Kara b/c they know he’s very particular about both his music AND sound quality.
Unpopular opinion: Oh, I know there were folks who were weirded out by the M'gann thing, because she's his adopted niece in other media, but like. They've clearly established that this M'gann is a very different version, I think folks kinda need to get over it.
A wish: It’s not going to happen but my ideal Supergirl filler episode is J’onn J’onzz Investigations and it’s just J’onn, Alex, and Kara solving alien mysteries.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: I hate any and all series-ending theories that involve breaking up the SpaceFam. Do Not Want.
5 words to best describe them: The Last Son of Mars
My nickname for them: I guess Space Dad counts?

Make-Believe
“Kara! Help!” Alex’s fingers began to slip from the edge of the building that she’d just fallen from. She was too terrified to look down, but she knew that it was easily a fatal fall if she happened to loose her grip.
Which was imminent.
“I’m coming, Alex!” she heard Kara exclaim as the younger sister flew toward her, going as fast as she possibly could in order to catch Alex before she…
“Alexandra! Kara! Ten minutes until dinner, girls. Finish up your game and go wash up!” Both girls groaned at the sound of their mother’s voice and Alex felt her grip slip from the garage roof. She landed, with a soft thud, onto the lawn and laid back with a sigh as Kara appeared above her.
“Are you okay, Alex?” the younger girl asked, looking like a concerned puppy. Her bottom lip pouted out a little bit and her big blue eyes were fixed on Alex’s face.
“I’m fine,” Alex assured her, pushing herself up and brushing off her jeans and black shirt. “I don’t have any grass stains, do I?”
“No, you don’t,” Kara told her. “Nerd.”
“Hey! How am I a nerd?” Alex huffed.
“You have a periodic table on your shirt,” Kara pointed out. “Also, it says ‘I wear this shirt periodically’.”
“Well, at least I don’t have a pair of bug-eyed glasses.”
“I have astigmatism!” Kara shot back. Alex laughed and tugged the girl against her side, hugging her tightly. Kara pretended to push her away, but eventually giggled and hugged back as they walked around the house to the front door.
Before they could enter, however, the girls heard somebody calling them from across the street.
“Hey, Danvers!”
Kara was the first to turn and a smile stretched over her lips at the sight of one of her best friends, Winn Schott, the nerdy kid from across the street. He was covered in wires and gadgets all over his body. In his hands, he held a giant remote control and there was a drone flying above his head.
“Hi, Winn!” Kara called out to him, letting go of Alex in order to run across to him. As always, she forgot to watch for cars and she was almost rolled flat by a giant truck that came barreling up the road. Thankfully, Alex was able to get a grip on the bottom of her cape before she could step all the way out into the street, tugging her back and practically choking her.
Kara fell back onto the sidewalk with a grunt and a cough, looking back up at Alex, who frowned at her. “What did we talk about?” Alex asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Looking both ways before crossing the street?” Alex nodded, solemnly and Kara sighed. “Sorry. I’m still learning.”
“It’s okay,” Alex said, helping her to her feet. “That jerk should be watching where he’s going, anyway.” She brushed off the eight-year-old’s skirt for her and glared up the road, where the truck had stopped in front of the only empty house on the block.
“Are those the new neighbors?” Kara asked as they held hands and walked across the street together.
“Probably,” Alex said. “Hopefully they learn how to drive a bit better.” She watched as a tan-skinned woman hopped down from the driver’s side. She was tiny; barely tall enough to reach the gas pedal, Alex thought. Maybe that was why she hadn’t stopped.
Still, she would have to learn to be a little more careful when her sister was playing.
“Are you okay, Kara?” Winn asked as they crossed his lawn to greet him. His foster father, J’onn was standing on their porch, looking concerned. He stayed silent, though.
“I’m fine,” Kara replied, loud enough for J’onn to hear. “What’ve you got there?”
“It’s a drone!” Winn exclaimed, with a wide smile. “I just finished building it with Papa Bear.” He smiled at his foster father, who grinned and waved back at him. Mr. J’onzz was quiet, but protective of all the kids on the road. He was the principal for their local elementary school, but he spent most of his off-days on his porch, watching out for any kind of danger.
Even before Winn and Kara came around, he was the Danvers’ go-to babysitter. Alex had spent many a weekday afternoon listening to him wax poetic about his army days and munching on the sugar cookies that he baked with his wife, M’gann. Their names sounded exotic to her and J’onn had even admitted that neither of them was born in the US, but he never told her which country (or countries) they were actually from.
Winn often said that they were probably aliens, but Alex would huff and lightly punch him in the arm. “There’s no such things as aliens, Winn,” she’d say. “That’s all just make-believe.”
But something deep inside her kept looking for clues whenever she was over at their house.
“Can it fly?” Kara asked. Winn nodded, pressing a button on his controller and the device in front of him lifted with a small buzz off the lawn, hovering at around hip-height.
“It doesn’t go very high yet,” Winn admitted, “but with just a few more tweaks, maybe we can get it as high as the planes in the sky.” Kara grinned wide at that, her blue eyes sparkly, even as her older sister rolled hers. Alex didn’t say anything, though; she could let Winn and Kara have their fun. They were just little kids, after all.
And Alex was a big kid; almost thirteen now.
“That sounds pretty awesome, Winnie,” she said, reaching out to ruffle his hair. He grumbled something under his breath about her ruining his ‘look’ as he swatted her away and combed his fingers through the short, spiky brown strands. “But we’ve gotta go eat dinner now before Mom blames me for Kara being hungry. We’ll be back afterwards, though, okay?”
“Okay!” Winn said. “I’m gonna go show James. He’s been asking about it all week!” He waved goodbye to them and headed next-door, where James Olsen lived. He was closer to Alex’s age than to Winn’s, but he and the younger boy were still great friends.” Kara and Alex waved after him as Alex took Kara’s hand and made sure she waited and watched before crossing.
As they walked up the path to their house, Alex happened to glance up the street, where the truck’s back door had been opened and a ramp was set up that fell to the street. The tiny woman from before carried a rather large box down with her, though she didn’t seem to struggle at all. She was followed by an even smaller figure, with an equally-large box.
At the sight, Alex’s eyes widened and she felt her face go hot.
The girl was around her age, with bronze skin and wavy dark brown hair that fell around her shoulders. She had on a loose plaid shirt and a pair of ripped jeans. On her feet were a pair of well-worn Doc Martens and underneath the plaid was a Barenaked Ladies t-shirt. When she laughed at something the older woman said, deep dimples appeared in her cheeks.
Alex was so mesmerized by the sight that she walked, face-first, into the front door.
“Uh,” Kara said, a foot behind her, “you know you’re supposed to open that first, right?”
Alex glared at her over her shoulder. “Smart aleck,” she muttered, turning the knob on the door, so that it opened. “Go wash your hands,” she said, shooing her little sister inside. Kara giggled as she ran in and climbed the stairs to the second-floor bathroom. Alex smiled affectionately at her retreating back.
Before closing the door, she glanced back up the street and found the dimpled girl watching Winn’s drone as it struggled to hover higher and higher in the air. She was smiling and glancing around the street. When their eyes met, Alex froze in the doorway, the brown and hazel locking on one another.
The dimpled girl grinned and Alex’s face reddened, but she couldn’t seem to look away. Not until the other girl was nudged by the older woman, who said something that gained her attention. Before she could look back at Alex, she had shut the door and leaned back against it, inside her house, shutting her eyes tightly.
“Alexandra?” Eliza Danvers asked, her voice full of concern as she looked down at her daughter. Alex’s eyes popped open. “Are you okay, sweetheart?”
“Uh, yeah,” Alex said, sounding slightly out of breath. “I’m fine. Just…tired. And hungry.”
“Okay,” Eliza said. “Well, go wash up then. We’re having homemade potstickers.”
“I doubt there will be any left by the time I get downstairs,” Alex muttered and Eliza laughed when Kara came buzzing down the stairs.
“Did somebody say potstickers?” she asked, not even bothering to pause in her steps.
“Save some for your sister!” Eliza called after her as Alex climbed the steps to the bathroom, her heart fluttering in confusion.

Hopes for Season 3
- More james olsen screen time without him trying to be a vigilante. Not all heroes wear capes
- sanvers screen time
-maggie’s character development
-danvers sister moments that aren’t in the midst of a crisis
-season one kara because her characterisation this season (or lack thereof) is just outright revolting
-lena luthor being treated properly and respected and acknowledged
-cat grant being a savage and helping kara not fuck up her life choices (mon-ew)
-superfriends’ screentime
-more space family moments with papa bear j’onn j’onzz (and mama bear m’gann m’orzz maybe?)
-wHERE THE FUCK IS LUCY LANE
now that the cw has gotten rid of a bland piece of white bread who wasted this entire season with his lack of character development I hope we get some actual fucking representation and not some white male bullshit
