Do I have a couple of long fics I need to work on? Yes. Am I working on them? No. But I did write ~400 words of Eddie POV that I suppose is set pre season four? Or post a version of season four where Eddie lives. Do excuse the complete lack of editing. Also on AO3.

God but Steve was cute when he was confused.

“But you don’t have a girlfriend,” he said, brow adorably wrinkled up. Eddie thought about smoothing it out himself, but they were in Family Video. Even if no one who would care was in the store now, it was open. Some upstanding citizen of Hawkins could walk in at any moment.

And really, that made it so much more fun.

“It’s a hypothetical, Harrington. A made-up, what-if sort of thing.” Eddie hopped up onto the counter.

“Like what if Washington hadn’t decked Tomjanovich?” Steve asked.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about, but I don’t think so. Let me elaborate. Dougie over there,” Eddie pointed to his friend over by the horror films, “has claimed that I look like the sort of guy who hits his girlfriend-”

“Why would he say that?” Steve looked positively offended on Eddie’s behalf.

“It may have been a direct response to me making a similar comment about the members of Mötley Crüe. Honestly,” Eddie shook his head sadly at Doug’s musical taste. “Why anyone would waste their time listening to mediocre glam metal. At least Pantera’s pretty decent.”

“I have no idea what you're talking about.” Right. Because Steve’s metal education was entirely in Eddie’s hands and Eddie wasn’t going to play him Theatre of Pain.

He should borrow Doug’s cassette of I Am the Night to play for Steve, though. And make a copy while he was at it.

“Irrelevant. Immaterial. There is, as you’ve said, no girlfriend. It’s just a question of my looks.”

“Oh.” Steve seemed to get it. He leaned across the counter, cocked his head, and very, very obviously looked Eddie up and down. Slowly. Taking in every detail.

It was nice to be appreciated.

“Well?”

“Maybe,” Steve answered. “If she asked nicely.”

“You think a gentleman such as myself wouldn’t provide for my girl’s needs?” Eddie raised his eyebrows in a parody of insulted surprise. “That I would make her ask?”

Steve’s eyes darted quickly around the store, no doubt confirming what Eddie had seen earlier. They weren’t entirely alone, but there wasn’t anyone around who’d care that they were flirting in public.

“I think you’d make her beg.” Steve’s voice was low and soft, but the whisper couldn’t entirely mask the sound of desire under it.

How Eddie had lucked into such a perfect boyfriend he’d never know.

“Do you? I suppose we’ll see.” Tonight was band practice, but he and Steve had a date planned for the next evening. “If I ever get a girlfriend, that is.”

“Somehow I don’t see that happening.” Steve was right. Eddie was very thoroughly taken.

Notes:

In 1977 Kermit Washington punched Rudy Tomjanovich during a mid game fight and seriously injured him. Aside from the effect on both players' careers, it resulted in the NBA adding a third ref to its game crew and essentially banning fighting from the league.

they used to be in a band back in the late 80s but the whole band died on their international tour during their stop in miracle city. being absolutely livid with the loss of life right before they were supposed to make it big, they thought of a way to make it back to the living world. unfortunately, that resulted in an eternal deal with sartana to become her minion in exchange for a second chance at life. the longer it takes them to do some bidding for sartana, the more visibly skeletal they become (like literally, a skeleton. think sans here)

they were fine and dandy with this deal, even having formed a rivalry with the white pantera as a bonus. however, things get a lot more complicated when genesis falls in love with maria, as it turns out they've landed themself into a love triangle with their own rival who doesn't even recognize them out of costume. how were they going to get through this?
