Blood Beach (1980)
"You got any opinions on it?"
"None that I'd care to say out loud."
"You and me both."

So I just watched Spielbergs short film Amblin
Now I've recently gotten interested in chaecking out the early filmography of Steven Spielberg . EVeryone kind of just says "Oh he made Jaws then became an overnight sensation" when thats not true at all .He made a few short films, directed for TV,including the TV movie Duel ,which lead to his first feature Sugarland Express and that led to Jaws . Of his early work I have only seen a segment he did for the Night Gallery pilot film,Eyes, and Duel (Which is the most famous of his TV work ),so I wanted to check out some of his shorts ,TV episodes, and TV movies .Dont plan to do all of them just the ones I can find ,and this is really just for my own curiosity
The earliest of Spielbergs work I could find is the short film Amblin ,which was his first commercially released film so I am starting there
The plot of this 1968 short film is two hitchikers (Richard Levin and Pamela McMyler) falling in love
I am of two minds of this film:On one hand it is neat to see early work of a filmmaker who has stayed relevent for 50 years ,it has visual flare ,I think it tells its story very well without dialogue and you see the makings of a good filmmaker.....That said this is VERY boring, and I have severe ADHD its mostly just two people walking.I found myself very bored and it kind of feels like Spielberg hasnt found his voice yet and is just kind of chasing the hippie bandwagon that was popular at the time .
I dont really reccomend it unless your super curious
