Hello! What book and tv show/movie that you have read/watched in 2023 would you recommend? Weirdest thing you have researched for a fic?

Ohh, this is a great question.

Millions Like Us: Women’s Lives during the Second World War by Virgina Nicolson - This was excellent and I strongly recommend it. It's about the daily lives of British women, and there’s a lot of material that I think will come in handy for Masters of the Air - I think I've found at least one OC idea reading about some of the women who lived near American airbases.

The Year of Peril: America in 1942 - Tracey Campbell . Found this one at the library booksale just after I finished the 1942 podcast from Slate magazine. The book is excellent so far and really flipping some interesting issues over.

Weirdest thing I researched for a fic...I think I might have looked up the exact day of the week that a particular holiday fell on, but that doesn't seem weird.

29. A film to feel good/uplifted

This might be weird because this movie is not really the definition of a "happy movie" but I wanna say The Blues Brothers (1980). I've always watched it when I was down/had a bad day and I always ended up smiling and laughing my ass off, so this recommendation is actually based on my personal experience. But. Yeah. It's a funny movie that I think will lift you up.

Favourite painter: I've taken a couple of art classes and whatnot but I can't think of one painter in particular that stands out to me. I tend to like the individual piece more than the particular painter.

Favourite writer: I lean to saying Jane Austen since she wrote so many bangers and she's dead so she can't embarrass me with twitter rants.

Favourite band: Sleeping at Last, my emotional support artist. okay he's only one guy but he's my favorite

Favourite outfit aesthetic: This is going to millenial me, but I love the Chuck from Pushing Daisies/Zoey Deschanel "twee" type of stuff. Bright colors and inspired by vintage fashion.

Favourite item I own: Oh well that's quite broad. Well, to distinguish it from below in an item of more "practical" use, my sleep mask. Gotta catch those z's.

Favourite possession: I'm going to take this prompt as a more object of value, and to that, if my house is burning down and my housemates and cat are safe, then I'm grabbing my signed edition of Catching Fire to save it from...catching fire.

Favourite perfume: I don't wear perfume often, but when I do, it's Amazing Grace Bergamot

Thank you. We’re doing the best we can but are struggling to find supplies. We don’t have proper PPE and last I heard we’d run out of bleach for two days on-site, so taking precautions is getting harder and harder to actually even do.

God, the Outlander fandom seems scary. I feel relieved Dan Stevens was already married, although people didn't ship JBF and AL and both were single.

Well the fandom is a bit weird. 

But an actor being married doesn’t stop people from shipping. 

They’re people who ship Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan even though he’s married with 2 kids. I saw some nasty stuff said about his wife. 

I also saw some people starting to ship Dan Stevens with Emma Watson. I don't know if it caught on or not, but yuck. 

The bottom line is that these people don’t bother with reality. They always find some crazy conspiracy theory to explain it away.

Huge shout out to @palindrome310 who suggested bringing safety pins too! Literally ten minutes after the church ceremony, right before the couple went to get their pictures taken, the groom picked up his toddler son who put his head on the groom’s boutonnière and accidentally crushed the neck of the biggest flower in it. We immediately pinned that shit upright with a small safety pin and nobody could tell the difference!

Going to a wedding tomorrow and the amount of things I’ve managed to cram in my handbag to make sure I survive the day is almost funny
