#TheTastingForkInPalampur During my trip to Palampur, my hotel @rssarovarportico really really urged me to do an experiential with @exsultravel, which they said would show me a completely different side of Palampur that I wouldn't experience otherwise. I was really inclining towards exploring food in the city but the hotel's manager emphasised several times on what I would be missing out on if I didn't take this experience. So I listened to him and went for it. . An incredibly picturesque hilly terrain jeep ride to the top of the mountain (being blessed by amazing weather was a bonus), to see a temple with the coolest Baba ever, to go into a tunnel which was so mesmerising, dripping with rain water. To then go to the scariest and the most thrilling spot on a hill edge from where if you fall, you say goodbye to life. But the scenic beauty from that spot indescribable and nothing like I've ever experienced. Those 4-5 hours of going to the hill top, experiencing everything and coming back, were only of adrenaline rush and craziness overload. It's nothing like you experience otherwise in Palampur. Nothing. I'm so glad I listened to the hotel and went for it. . This was the homemade food we got as lunch during this experiential. Paneer Kadhai, Black Chane, roti and pickle. And served alongside is a panaromic view of Palampur city. Price for the lunch experience: Rs.2500 per head . #TheTastingForkInPalampur This is exactly how I am going to remember Palampur- rain washed roads one minute and sunshine the next, a hill station still untouched by tourism to quite an extent, experiencing all 4 seasons in a day, and the serenity of the hills. I hope the place always retains its calm and beauty, even when it gets flooded with tourism in the years to come. Didn't edit the picture at all to let you all know how the place looks with black clouds hovering over the city 😍 . The Palampur market has all kind of shops to look after your daily needs. But like every good hill station, it also has 2-3 softy shops! Had this mango and vanilla softy at Rainbows Restaurant and Cafe. Entered when it was raining cats and dogs outside, and the moment the queue for the icecream ended and it was finally our turn, we turned around to see it had suddenly stopped raining. #TheTastingForkInPalampur Mutton Chawal in Maranda . The BEST mutton rice I've had in my life! And the best kind of things aren't available at restaurants meant for tourists, but at dhabas meant for the locals. Asked my cab driver in Palampur for amazing places to eat at in Palampur and he told me about this place. A bit skeptical to take me here, because it was for the locals and the ambience wouldn't impress me, I insisted I only wanted good food so he shouldn't worry about all that. The most incredible mutton curry with 4 pieces of mutton, comes with rice that has some curry on top of it too. The masala of the mutton cooked for so long, the curry prepared in a brass container (peetal ka bartan), and rice that is slightly overcooked. Heaven is this!! When in Palampur, you must must must go here! It'll be the best mutton curry and rice of your life! Price: ₹120 . Directions: At the Maranda Chowk, next to Hanuman Mandir and Peepul tree. They don't have a name. So you'll have to ask around for where you get meat chawal here. On one of the days I was staying here, our dinner buffet was this Pahadi Chicken which was a blend of thick masala with so much aroma and flavour- the kind of chicken dish you wouldn't ever get here. When I visited Palampur, I really wanted to have the local food and dishes there, but I never thought a hotel would be able to nail local dishes. Loved this dish every bit! #TheTastingForkInPalampur A very very very cute cafe in Palampur, called Pizzian Hut . You don't even have to think about what they serve or how the cafe looks, because the name gives it away. They make home-style thick crust pizzas and also have pastas, sandwiches and snacks on their menu. The place is surreal! It is set in the middle of the hills and tea gardens, and there's no noise or commotion of the city around. You can hear birds chirping and the wind blowing, the leaves ruffling, and a very relaxing calm and quiet in the background of all this.
