I woke early, the golden light creeping through the gap in the curtains curling around small amounts of dust and making them swirl, colours scattering across the metal of my boy’s arms as he snored softly, curled up against my side.
My fingers caressed his hair lightly, a small, contented smile flickering over his parted lips as he pulled me closer unconsciously. “Mmm… S’nice…”
I grinned to myself, kissing his sweet, sleepy forehead, smoothing a few stray strands from his brow tenderly. “Good morning… Birthday boy.”
One eye parted minutely, grey seeking green with a lopsided smile. “Oh… So it is…”
My fingers found his chin, tipping his head up delicately to claim his lips with mine. “Would you like your present, Silver?”
His other eye opened, and he grinned a little wider, the steel depths sparkling with joy. “You’re all the gift I need, Swan. … But yes, please.”
I laughed and kissed his nose, shaking my head fondly as I shimmied from his embrace.
“Wait here.”
I’d once done something not entirely dissimilar, a lifetime ago. But then I’d not been alone – I’d been able to rely on the confidence of others to buoy myself.
And this time…
My fingers toyed with the strap of the camera shyly, then the curve of fur barely dipping over my chest, taking a slow, stabilising breath, smoothing the skirt that barely covered my scantily-clad ass.
I could hear him shifting about in the bed, no doubt impatient to have me return to him, and inhaled once more before opening the door.
I revelled in the way his eyes widened as he took me in, trailing along the sheer stockings, pausing at the hem of the short dress as he swallowed hungrily, before continuing up, following the curve of my waist, his jaw twitching minutely at my breasts barely restrained by the skin-tight garment. “I-I, uh… Hi.”
My lips tipped up in a smile, eyelashes fluttering. “Hey, Silver.” He simply let out a soft, wordless noise in response, and I giggled. “Suave as ever, huh?”
Blinking repeatedly, he shook his head to snap back to attention, emitting a quiet huff of wonder. “You look… Delectable. God, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met.”
I blushed as I raised the camera, free hand smoothing my hair shyly. “Well… I thought you want might some... Um, enduring evidence of this..."
The sound that came from his throat was somewhere between a groan and a growl as he gestured me closer, fingers flashing in the golden light. “This is the best birthday I’ve ever had.”
I lay back on the black sheets, staring up at him through my lashes adoringly. He’d taken a little while to gain his confidence, but now he instructed me eagerly, fingers caressing every inch of available skin while he maneuvered me. I giggled as I slowly inched down the zipper that lead between my breasts – feeling, for once, just as beautiful and loved as he told me I was. The way his jaw – and boxers – grew tighter as I exposed the ebony lace barely cupping my breasts made me squirm in delight, and he licked his lips as I tossed the dress at him playfully.
“That’s it, Swan; God, you’re so stunning…” His voice came hushed and reverent as he reached out to grasp my ankle with a grin, eliciting a shriek of delight as he tugged me closer, crimson hair trailing behind me as I laughed. He snapped a few more photos as I giggled, his own smile growing wider. “I like seeing you so happy. I love seeing you so comfortable in your own skin…”
I beamed in response, fingertips brushing the very edge of the partially see-through panties and making his muscles tremble in response. “It’s easier to have a little self-love when you look at me the way you do, Soldier.”
He opened his mouth to reply, but any words he intended to utter died in his throat as I slid my hand slowly into my underwear, back arching as I touched myself gently, my eyes still on his. His crooked grin twitched intermittently, far more focused on my ministrations than his facial expression, his breath hitching audibly when I let out a quiet whine. “Mmm- Y’know, that camera has video functions… How about you put it down and join me?”
Jaw working wordlessly for a second, he blinked in surprise, then grinned once more, his gaze flicking back to my face with mild shyness. “Or… How about I record this first, and then get some footage of you screaming for me, Swan?”
I gulped and nodded eagerly, the idea of him wanting to preserve this for later use instantly amplifying the wetness between my legs. “Yes, Sir…” I sighed happily, back arching a little. “Why don’t you tell me what you want to see, Silver?”
He swallowed again, moving a little closer. “Well… I think you’re wearing too many clothes, for sure…” I sat up slightly with a purr, but his hand found my chest gently, pushing me back. “Oh, I didn’t tell you to stop, my sweet girl.” His fingers curled around the centre of my bra, eyes seeking mine for clarification and grinning when I frantically nodded once more. The pressure was quick and firm, my breasts spilling free as the lace tore in a seemingly-effortless motion, and I moaned quietly, my free hand moving to toy with a nipple enthusiastically. His displays of strength always left me weak and soaked, and this was no exception; my fingers moved a little more firmly over my clit as I panted and writhed, the silver eyes on me driving me closer.
His hand shifted to the lace at my hip, but these, he preserved – he placed the camera gently on the bed, still pointing at me as he tenderly slid down my underwear, trailing kisses along the pale skin of my legs and eliciting a giggle.
By the time he rose again, I had my hand shyly concealing my wetness, and he arched a brow. “You know what I want to see, Swan… Show me that gorgeous pussy?”
The tone of his voice was gentle, and the knowledge that this was firmly a suggestion, a request, and not a command made me tremble and move my fingers aside, legs spreading further as his breath hitched. “You make me so wet, Silver…” I purred, and he groaned quietly, shaking his head as he put the camera down once more.
“Can’t do it. Can’t help myself,” he muttered under his breath. I opened my mouth with a frown, intending to ask what he meant – but his face eagerly pressed against my pussy answered the question, cool fingers brushing over my slit briefly before two slid inside me. I gasped and moaned in surprise and delight, back arching, my hands tangling in this gossamer hair to hold him close to me as his tongue explored my wetness.
“Fuck- God, Yoshitsune, yes,” I whimpered, pressing myself nearer. He groaned against my flesh happily, free hand raising to find my breast and pin my torso effortlessly to the bed as he rolled my nipple exquisitely between his fingers. My entire body felt alight and alive, each nerve singing under his careful strumming into a perfect, irreplaceable symphony.
His fingers curled inside me, and I whined, suddenly shy once more, biting my lip as I glanced down at him. “Y-Yoshi, if you do- I can’t-”
Somehow, despite my stammering, he seemingly understood me, his eyes meeting mine as he raised an eyebrow, deliberately finding my sweet spot once more as he moved his hand a little more firmly inside me. I groaned in delight, back arching to press myself closer as best I could despite the arm along my body, lost in the feeling of his tongue on me, his fingers working me so effortlessly.
The moment I began to spill, he drew his hand back, burying his face more thoroughly between my legs as I jerked and whimpered, letting out a deafening groan of his own as he eagerly lapped up everything I had to offer him.
By the time he looked up at me once more, having trailed his tongue along every inch of my wet pussy with steadfast determination, I was blushing profusely, hand cupped in front of my mouth sheepishly. “I tried to warn you! I-”
He shook his head, moving to pin me, scrubbing a hand over his face to chase away the last of the droplets. “Not a word, little one. That was incredible.” His cock pressed against me lightly, clarifyingly, through the thin cotton of his shorts, but I shook my head, palm finding his damp chest. Panic flashed briefly across his features, and I couldn’t help but giggle fondly, rolling my eyes.
“Calm down, Yoshitsune… I just want to be on my knees first.” He gulped and nodded, rolling quickly, and I smirked as he readjusted the camera when I moved to kneel on the floor eagerly. “Enjoying your birthday present?”
“We might have to make this a tradition,” he murmured, ethereal grey eyes sparkling, hand wrapping tenderly in my hair. I purred, pressing gentle kisses to the outline of his straining length, earning a quiet sigh for my effort as my fingertips wrapped in the waistband of his shorts.
As always, the sight of him leaking and aching – for me – made me tremble with delight. The notion that I never failed to arouse him was something I was still struggling to accept at times, despite the hard evidence before me. I trailed my tongue slowly along his cock, soft, happy sounds slipping from my parted lips, fingers tightening infinitesimally on his hips at the sharp gasp he emitted when I took his tip in my mouth. The grip on my hair stiffed minutely as he shifted forward, and I moaned as best I could around him, taking him slowly. When he brushed the back of my throat, he began to draw back until I held him fast, my hands tight on him as I swallowed around him.
The grunt of pleasure as I took him into my throat made my eyes close with joy, pressing him further into me happily, entirely uncaring about the tears pricking my lash line and the beginnings of a burn in my lungs as they protested the lack of oxygen. He let me sit there for a moment, every inch of him buried inside me, before pulling back with a soft huff of amusement, raising an eyebrow when I inhaled sharply. “Remember to breathe, my sweet girl. I love having my cock in your throat, but it isn’t worth you dying for.”
I drew away just long enough to gasp a little longer, licking my lips where they’d cracked from stretching around him, and looked up at him with a plead in my gaze. “I’d beg to differ myself, but if you say so…” Driving myself back forward, I moaned around him happily as his cock slid back into my throat. My hands tightened on his hips once more, spurring him on as he started to roll his hip more forcefully. Eyes finding his face, I trembled in delight as his flushed, parted lips and the beads of moisture still clinging to scruff along the cut of his jaw, forgetting everything but my love for this man for a heartbeat at the shining depths of my lover’s captivating steel gaze.
He really is my everything.
A low groan snapped me back to the moment, and I dragged my tongue adoringly along the base of his cock, a zing of pleasure sparking through my dripping pussy at his hiss of delight. The steel fingers in my hair guided me back, gentle but firm, and he grinned with adoration and amusement as I pouted when his tip slipped free from my mouth. “Don’t worry, sweet girl… I’m not finished with you yet.”
I blushed shyly as he settled back against the headboard, the camera in one hand, the other extended to me. “Come here, Swan… Come and make yourself feel so, so good…”
My finger entwined with his, a soft purr rumbling in my chest as I straddled his hips. He released his grip on me to hold himself steady as I finally took his length inside me, eyelids fluttering in pleasure, but his gaze never left mine as I whimpered quietly. “That’s it, my gorgeous girl. God, you feel so good… I can’t ever get enough of you…”
Hands finding his shoulders, I leant in to kiss him deeply, settling fully onto his cock and rocking my hips. I heard a distant clatter as he fumbled to put down the camera before his fingers pressed firm against my back, holding me tight to his chest, returning my kiss just as eagerly. All too soon, however, I had to pull back, gasping for breath as I worked myself a little more energetically atop him. “Fuck- Yoshitsune…”
He grasped my hip tight, the metal embrace sure to leave cherished marks, and encouraged my pace, his jaw twitching in pleasure. “Feels good, baby? Having my cock buried inside you like this, letting you take control of me?”
I nodded eagerly, nails scraping hard down his chest as my head fell back, stars sparking behind my vision. “Yes! Oh, god, yes… Please – fuck, I can’t take it, I-I can’t-”
With a low growl, he moved quickly, pinning me to the mattress and tangling a hand in my hair as his hips slammed into mine. I cried out in pleasure as he bit at my throat, free hand snaking between us to caress my clit with earth-shattering precision. “That’s it, Swan. Sing for me. I want you to come for me, sweetheart… Clench that tight, pretty pussy around my cock and scream my name.”
I couldn’t help but obey, the combination of his words, his deep, powerful thrusts and talented touch making my eyes roll back and my vocal chords ache from my deafening moans as I hurtled toward my climax. He fucked me ever harder as his name fell from bitten lips, my hands clutching desperately at his shoulders, seeking some form of purchase – something, anything, to keep me grounded, as my blood turned to stardust.
Ever the gentleman and disciplined soldier, it wasn’t until my cries had died to weak sobs of pleasure, twitching and jerking beneath him, that his hips met mine for a final time, groaning against my throat as he filled me. I purred contentedly when he paused and drew back to meet my eyes, raising a lazy, exhausted hand to caress his cheek, wiping a droplet of sweat from his forehead with a tired smile. “Yoshitsune…”
“Hm?”
I leant up as much as my jellified muscles allowed, pressing my lips to his, gentle but firm. “I love you.”
He laughed quietly – breathless and adoring – and kissed me again, pressing his forehead to mine as he cupped the back of my neck. “I love you too, my Swan. Always.”
We lay together in tangled, sweat-damp sheets, legs entwined, as I drew patterns on his chest with a gentle fingertip. “You’re a superhero.”
Another fond laugh, and his cheek found my hair. “Is that so? Because I can make you scream?”
I could hear the smirk in his voice, and I rolled my eyes fondly, resting my chin on his chest to look up at him with a smile. “No. Well – yes, that’s… Amazing. But no.” I paused for a moment, watching my finger before glancing up again shyly. “You’re… Everything. You’re the reason I’m still here, you know? When you found me, I was… I wasn’t in a good place.” My gaze met his, sincere and steady, hand resting over his heart. “I wouldn’t have lived this life if you hadn’t found your place in it. You’re the reason I wanted anything to do with particular reality I found myself in, and didn’t just let myself… Dissolve. You’re the reason I’m alive, Yoshitsune, my beautiful silver soldier – my soulmate.” My fingertips found his jaw, cupping his face gently and skimming a thumb over his cheekbone with tender affection. “I thought I knew what life was. But… Everything has changed. Oh, how I love you, my sweet boy. Nothing life could throw at me now wouldn’t be worth this. I’d endure the circles of Hell just to look into your eyes.”
The steel swam minutely, and he pulled me closer, peppering gentle kisses over my face as a few of his tears salted my skin. “I’m no hero, Swan. I’m just… Yours.”
“Mine,” I agreed quietly, tangling my hands in his hair again to kiss him softly. “Always.”
“Always, Aurelia.”

Late Night Quickie
Collection: SHIELD Gaming AU Characters/Pairings: Joaquin Torres x Natasha Romanoff Word Count: 1.2k Summary: It's still all hands on deck around the clock as time is running our for SHIELD to finish implementing an industry-changing element into the version of The Avengers they're about to send in for game approval before the beta test can be launched soon at PAX East. But Bucky and his game tester aren't the only ones at SHIELD entangled in a very satisfying side quest...
Content Warnings: smut, oral (male receiving), dirty talk, praise, dacryphilia, age gap (Nat is 10 years Joaquin's senior)
Logistical Notes: Third tick for my Bingo Card in @the-slumberparty's August/September Challenge with B2: "Clothes on Sex." Same universe as Perfectionists and Test Play but can be read as a standalone - all you need to know is Steve, Bucky, Sam, Natasha, and Joaquin are the five-person team of game engineers for the SHIELD Gaming company.
Additional Notes: Thank you @vonalyn for reading this for coherency. Gamer graphic by @sgt-seabass. Dedicated to my co-conspirator for "A Very Horny Monday to You All..." @biteofcherry for our first week of mischief - she chose the theme 'oral quickies.' We can all lovingly blame her for this!
↠ Masterlist | Aspen's Ask Box | Field Guide to the Forest
2am.
Two fucking a-m.
Joaquin just grinned.
This was not the week any of them wanted or expected, and he certainly didn't want this to ever be the norm. But running off adrenaline, catching only a few hours of sleep (if he was lucky), lots of Red Bull, and late-night food orders to make up for what the typical in-house kitchen wasn't covering was something he couldn't deny was an experience.
Teams all across SHIELD Gaming had been and still were working around the clock to get the shelved-for-later Deep Shadow Conditions mode back into the release SHIELD was going to submit to the first party platforms for approval in just a few days. Marketing, story, game engineering, testers… everyone. It was a rush, pushing the limits for this short period of time, but they were close to pulling off a triumph with embedding Deep Shadow. Joaquin had loved the pitch for that aspect when it was originally floated, they had initiated the development, but then a couple of the execs had said to push it back to the next release. Fury had called the audible and said they needed to put it back in to top what HYDRA was developing with Project Insight. But Joaquin had always known Deep Shadow would really push them miles past everything else coming out right now.
That’s why he didn’t mind pulling these insane hours to get the work done with the rest of the engineers.
And he certainly didn’t mind this.
He had no problem leaning back against the wall of the women’s restroom, jeans unzipped, Natasha poised between his legs, and her pretty lips around his cock, deep throating him.
Fuck she looked so good like that. They hadn’t had enough time together since the Deep Shadow blitz, and he was so glad she’d pulled him into the bathroom right now. Her left hand was anchored on his hip, and the other was reaching up his shirt, roving over his abs and chest as his threaded into her hair, holding her head at the base of her skull. He was letting her control the pace and how much of his length she took in for now, just holding her, feeling that connection.
Joaquin had been under no illusion in the beginning that this absolute goddess who was ten years his senior had only been flirting with him because it was fun and had no intentions beyond more than maybe a night or two tumbling in bed together. But he’d had a hunch they could have more, that he wanted more, and categorically convinced her they were worth a shot.
He worshipped her but challenged her in a way no one else did. He knew that’s why she’d even started flirting with him, appreciating that he could go round for round with her sass, her sarcasm, and her saucy comments without getting flustered or cocky and the rest of their conversation – work and casual – had rolled along so easily like they’d been working together for years after only a few weeks.
Now they were eight months into an officially-disclosed-to-HR relationship – but not to their team because they did not need Cap, Sam, or Bucky in their business. Work was work, and until tonight, the physical had stayed outside of HQ.
It spoke to how little time they’d had together that they were here right now.
And he was just as hungry for her as she was for him.
Joaquin took over and pulled her head down slowly on him, drawing Nat down to take all of him, the tip of his cock hitting the back of her throat, then gently nudging further down her esophagus. She moaned around him, her hands flexing against him. “You always take me so well, Romanov.”
He knew she loved this. She was a cocky little minx and so loved the praise. In response she sunk the rest of the way down his cock. He groaned in ecstasy. Love this.
“Fuck, I could stay here with you on my dick until your legs give out.”
She tightened her grip on his hip.
“But I wanna fuck this pretty throat of yours, babe.”
A small noise from her as she stayed just as she was, their eyes locked on each other.
“That’s what you really wanted, isn’t it?”
Those lust-blown green eyes told him everything, and he grinned wickedly down at her. Abruptly twisting them around to place her on her knees with her back against the wall, he made sure she was secure before asking, "Ready for me?"
She hummed again.
He smirked. “Desperate for me?”
A growl this time.
He laughed. “Me, too, babe.” He brushed his thumb over her cheek, one more tender moment, then he slowly pulled out until only the head of the cock was the only thing she had her lips around. She sucked hard, hollowing her cheeks, and swirled her tongue over the leaking tip of him. “Oh, you’re so fucking good. Love that talented tongue. But now you’re really gonna take me.”
She nodded, eyes blazing with heat. He moved his right hand to cradle her cheek and jawline as he leaned his left forearm against the wall to brace himself, and then he thrust back into her wet mouth. He continued, pistoning his hips in and out, brutally but not recklessly. She clung to his shirt, his hips, anything from moment to moment. Her eyes watered, then the tears started to spill, and he groaned. “So pretty for me like this. Those gorgeous tears falling for me, just like you fall apart for me.”
And then he just focused on the feel of her around his cock, the heat, the sounds of him sliding in and out, her whimpers and moans. The frenzy built and then he spilled into her mouth and down her throat, hips stuttering to a stop, and she held him there in place, swallowing every bit of him until he was done. She pulled her mouth off him with a deliberately audible pop, smug, beautiful goddess that she was.
She slid up between his heaving chest and the wall, brushing her lips against his jaw with soft, playful kisses. “Like that?”
“Love that,” he corrected. “Bet your cunt’s a hot, drippy mess for me, isn’t she?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” she teased before claiming his lips in a kiss, tangling their tongue so he could taste the evidence of his spend, and pushing her pelvis up against him.
“Meet back here in an hour?”
“Fuck, I’m hoping we can convince them there’s nothing more to do tonight and get out of here in the next hour. Then you’re taking me home to fuck me in your bed properly.”
He laughed, “Anything for my Natalia.”

Fandom Frenzy (Doubling friendly) Seeking Roleplay Partners
Note: Not replacing any current partners, just always seeking to add more partners.
About Me:
I am 18+ and will only write with partners who are also 18+
Willing to double as any gender, any pairing, any fandom
Prefers writing male characters in male x female relationships (will do AxA when doubling)
Enjoys romance and action in my stories
Laid-back, communicative. I will not ghost you!
Flexible writer, quality posts: post length varies depending on the plot and the post, but my typical range is 1-3+ paragraphs
Attempts to reply every 1-2 days, but will let you know about any unintended absences
Prefers third-person
Willing to play canon characters and original characters
Prefers long-term stories
Most of all, I enjoy writing and collaborating. I consider myself easy to get along with and being able to bring my writing partner joy with each reply is something that drives my passion for this hobby!
Open to nsfw
Bonus: Not required, but I enjoy sibling dynamics. Keep in mind, I'm talking about platonic sibling interactions. If we're doubling with OC/Canon, it could be particularly interesting for our OCs to be siblings. It increases the depth of our world and increases interaction between characters. Again, not required.
You can add me on discord at fandomfan#0404 or send a chat or message if interested.
Fandoms:
Seeking partners who are willing to play a canon female character. I have plots, pairings, and ideas for each fandom that I list here.
I am not picky. I will not be upset if you do not portray the character with 100 percent accuracy. Please, do not expect that there will be pressure to be perfect. I enjoy it when my partner adds their own twist, anyway
Willing to double and play as anyone you want in return!
Canon characters that I am seeking a partner to play will be listed under the fandom
Fandoms:
Pairings that I am seeking are listed beside the character, but these are not the only pairings I am willing to do. Again, for your half, I'll do whatever you want.
Here is the link to the entire list of my fandoms: https://cipher04.tumblr.com/post/678212321698611200/muse-post
If you will play someone from my list below, I can play something from any of these fandoms if you so desire! There might be others I know about as well so feel free to suggest other fandoms too
Arrowverse
Supergirl
Fear The Walking Dead/The Walking Dead
Alicia Clark
Maggie Greene
Nancy Drew (CW TV show)
Nancy Drew
Riverdale
Betty Cooper
The Lost World (1999 TV series)
Veronica Layton
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Cassie Lang
Wanda Maximoff
Natasha Romanoff
Karen Page
Kate Bishop
Carol Danvers
Outer Banks
Sarah Cameron
FBI
Nina Chase
Saint X
Emily Thomas
RPF: With the Women's World Cup going on, I am would absolutely love it if someone could play Alex Morgan from the USWNT for me! I would love to pair her with a male character, either a male OC, another athlete/celebrity, or even her actual husband if you're a fan of their relationship. If I'm using an OC, I am open to a number of pairings from my OC being her coach, to the OC being another professional athlete, an athletic trainer, or even just an average Joe! Tons of ideas here. However, if you like the idea but aren't a fan of Alex, I'm down to hear out any other footballer that you might wish to portray. May 19, 2018
Forty-five minutes later, after changing out of his own pajamas, Steve sat in his office with Maggie's employee file and a cup of coffee that Natasha had brought him when she'd overheard an employee talking about Captain America carrying some girl across the building just after dawn. He'd accepted the beverage but rebuffed her knowing look as he scanned down the page for the phone number of an emergency contact; it almost felt like an invasion of Maggie's privacy when he read through the details that he didn't feel like he should know, like the fact that her parents had died in the battle of New York just six years earlier.
He felt a weight on his chest when he saw she'd only been twenty-one when she was left on her own; she'd been younger than he was when he'd lost his mom. Running a hand over his beard, he leaned forward, resting an elbow on the cool glass surface of the desk as his tired eyes read more, unable to look away from all of the new information.
"See the thing about her dead parents?" He looked up to see Natasha back in his doorway once more, taking a sip from her mug as she watched him.
"How did you know?" He raised an eyebrow at her, leaning back to look less interested than they both knew he was.
"I make it a point to google everyone who lives around here." She shrugged nonchalantly before a small smile spread across her lips. "She's a nice girl, seems like you'd like her."
He was incredulous, shaking his head at her antics. Even when they'd been on the run together, Natasha hadn't stopped trying to find him a girl.
She'd been successful a few times but life on the run wasn't exactly conducive to relationships.
"Romanoff, she's unconscious in a hospital room." He tried to reprimand her, he felt his cheeks turning a light red behind his beard as he quickly moved on. "I'm just trying to find her emergency contact to call them."
She nodded, carrying on as she gestured for him to look further down the page, "That's her best friend. She works with Dr. Cho."
He registered that she had definitely looked at Maggie's file at some point and he'd have to talk to her about boundaries again.
"Helen Cho?" Steve raised an eyebrow at the familiar name.
"Yeah, some kind of prodigy, apparently." Natasha didn't move, watching Steve read through the information while he carefully tried to control his microexpressions as to not give any of his thoughts away to the trained spy.
Tracing his finger down the page, he found the name and quickly jotted down the number so he could close the damn folder and stop feeling like he was learning too much about her without her consent.
Like the fact that her full name was actually Marguerite Brynn Hall, not Margaret like he'd assumed, or that she had served in the Peace Corps in Ukraine after her parents' deaths. Or that she was allergic to penicillin or that she had graduated first in her class with her master's degree.
He couldn't help but want to know everything that wasn't in the file too.
"Okay. Bye, Nat." He spoke without looking up and it was like he could hear her roll her eyes at him before she finally departed, leaving him alone to make the call.
He gave a quiet chuckle before dialing the number he'd written down, looking out the window and absentmindedly watching the almost silent world outside.
The phone rang several times before a chipper voice answered on the other end of the line. "Hello?"
He sat up straighter, "Hi. Is this Poppy Stewart?"
"Yes? And who am I speaking to?" Sitting in a lab in Chicago, Poppy looked down at her phone and made a face at what she saw; the call was from an unfamiliar, New York number. With her luck, it would be some debt collector or someone trying to steal her identity.
She should have known better.
"I— uh, Steve Rogers." He sounded awkward as he tried to introduce himself.
Immediately she was suspicious, standing and turning away from her classroom, "Like 'Captain America' Steve Rogers? That Steve Rogers?"
Her green eyes were wide with curiosity. Of course, it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility; Maggie had told her about her recent move to the Avenger's facility and she'd mentioned that several of the heroes were also temporarily living there while they tried to figure out their new plan in the wake of the decimation, but why was one of them calling her?
"Yeah." He paused, unsure whether or not to continue. "I wanted to talk to you about Maggie—"
"What about Maggie?" Poppy felt her stomach drop as she cut him off, the wind swiftly taken from her sails. She gripped the side of a lab table, her happy inflection finally wavering and falling away as she dreaded his response. Her thoughts began to race.
What could have happened to her? They'd spoken only the day before. Of course she was hundreds of miles away and couldn't just drive there in this moment. Had there been an accident? Had she gotten hurt? She couldn't keep the fear from her voice once she finally inquired quietly, "Did something happen to her?"
"No! I mean—well, yes, but she's okay." He was quick to respond, knowing his initial statement probably wasn't the best way to approach the topic. "She passed out a little while ago."
"Passed out?" Poppy raised an eyebrow.
"Fainted." He confirmed with a quiet sigh, "She hadn't slept in two days. She's in the medical center now. They had to stitch her hand up because she cut it pretty badly on some glass but they have her on a sedative for now and she's resting."
Poppy exhaled quietly, feeling her heart break as she blinked back her tears with a shake of her head, "Why wasn't she sleeping?"
Steve paused, feeling like he should maintain some of her privacy, but this was Maggie's emergency contact and best friend; she had no one else. At least, not at the moment.
"She said she couldn't stop thinking about 'them.'" He tapped a pen on the desk absentmindedly, flipping it again and again as he turned her words over in his head.
"Of course she couldn't." She knew that Maggie would work herself in to an early grave someday.
The survivor's guilt following the death of her parents had nearly killed her, so of course this was affecting her on a brand new, much larger, scale. Poppy's attention was taken as one of her undergrads called her name. She paused and held an annoyed finger up to her student, slightly exasperated as she thought, 'Is data analysis truly so difficult?'
"Could you have her call me when she wakes up? I just need to know that she's okay."
"Yeah, of course." He made a note to himself.
She hated that she couldn't be there, and she knew her request would irritate Maggie, but her words spilled out before she could second-guess herself, "And...could you make sure she isn't alone when she wakes up? She likes to pretend that she doesn't get scared but she hates hospitals. Like, she really hates them. She complained about going after a fucking car accident when we were in college so I just know she'll be upset about this. And I know you're probably busy doing 'you' things but maybe you could have someone else like Pepper—"
"I can be there." His voice was kind but firm as he cut off the rambling girl. A part of Steve felt strangely protective over Maggie despite not yet knowing her well at all.
"Thank you." Poppy let out a quiet sigh of relief at his promise, some of the tension leaving her shoulders as she exhaled. "I appreciate you calling me."
"It's not a problem. I'll call you if anything changes before she wakes up." The two said their goodbyes and he sank back in his chair.
Since the decimation, there was no set schedule or things he had to do. Everyone had just been trying to stay afloat in the new world. Standing, he grabbed a book and some paperwork and made his way back to the small, hospital room where the brunette slept silently surrounded by a symphony of soft sounds that came from machines that matched the beat of her heart or measured her blood pressure.
He didn't know when she'd wake up, but he knew that she wouldn't be alone when she finally did.
There was a slow, steady beeping that cut through the mostly silent air. The soft mattress cradled Maggie gently as she blinked awake after hearing several hushed voices from across the room. Of all the beds, hers was the only one that was occupied within the spacious room. The dim light streaming through the shaded windows allowed her to see everything clearly as her eyes adjusted to being open once more.
Beside her, in an armchair that had been pulled close to her bedside, was Steve Rogers. His focus was on the book in his lap as he read it silently flipping to a new page and she watched as he silently mouthed the lines to himself unaware of his audience. Several feet away, Pepper, Bruce, and Natasha were all speaking with one another.
Maggie opened her mouth to speak but it was incredibly dry. Spotting a bottle of water on the table beside her, she began to lean over and stretch her arm out to reach for it but her movement didn't go unnoticed.
"Good morning, Sleeping Beauty." There was a small smile on Natasha's face that didn't quite reach her eyes as her raspy voice broke the atmosphere while Maggie struggled to sit up in the bed, feeling like she was being weighed down by several cinder blocks that had been placed on her chest.
Looking over at her, Steve quickly sat his book down and leaned over to help her, one of his hands resting on her back gently as he guided her into a sitting position. She rubbed her tired eyes as he uncapped the water bottle she'd been seeking and handed it to her with a small smile that she returned gratefully. Maggie accepted it wordlessly, looking around at the other visitors as she tried to piece together details that didn't quite fit.
"How long was I asleep?" Her voice was hoarse from not being used; she cleared her throat before taking a sip of the water. It was silent as they all exchanged glances; unsure of who should speak first. Her nerves began to prickle quickly when the fog from her mind slowly dissipated and her consciousness returned in full.
She blinked, trying to remember events that simply weren't coming to mind, when she heard the beeping of her heart monitor pick up its pace as she slowly became more anxious. Her quiet voice wavered, "When did I get here?"
Bruce was the first to respond, moving towards her as he pulled the small penlight from his pocket and turned it on, "You don't remember?"
Looking down, she tried to retrace the steps of her timeline: she'd finished at her office around five in the evening, she'd gone back to her room and showered, then she laid down to sleep. She remembered tossing and turning for hours before going to get a glass of water to take a sleeping pill but then it was like her slate had been wiped clean.
"I...remember getting a glass of water last night." She sounded uncertain, looking up at him as he held her chin still and used the light to perform a quick examination on her eyes and mental status.
Had all of that been a dream?
While he watched her pupils dilate in response to the bright light, his kind voice was low as he responded, "That was really early this morning."
Maggie's brows drew together and she shook her head, pulling away as he tried to finish her assessment, "No, that doesn't—"
"Maggie," Pepper walked over, sitting on the edge of the bed. She felt a pit in her stomach and she knew that she wouldn't like what Pepper had to say. The woman's soothing voice couldn't soften the blow from her words as she took her hand gently, "Steve found you in the kitchen after he woke up. It looked like you'd collapsed and when we had Friday look at the security footage, you'd been there for almost two hours before he found you."
"Two hours?" Her voice cracked and she felt herself deflate. Pieces of the early morning came back to her in flashes: glass shattered on the water-covered floor, a bloody handprint on her leg, a cabinet knob digging into her shoulder.
"You cut your hand pretty good on the glass, so they stitched that up for you." He nodded to the hand that Maggie hadn't even realized was currently wrapped in a thin layer of white gauze. Blood rushed to her cheeks, making them burn red-hot in embarrassment.
She hated being taken care of and this was her worst nightmare come to fruition.
She took stock of the multiple pieces of equipment that she had been hooked up to in her unconscious state. An IV had been placed in the back of her hand, a blood pressure cuff was squeezing her arm periodically as it took the vital. There was a pulse-oximeter on her finger and leads from a heart monitor had been placed on her chest to track her cardiac activity. Her comfy pajamas had been replaced with a hospital gown at some point and her feet were now clad in the 'fall-risk' socks that had traction grips on the bottom.
Curling her toes, she cringed and looked down at herself; she felt more than humiliated before she realized that no one had actually answered her question. "How long was I asleep?"
Steve checked his watch and frowned before looking up at her, "You kind of...fainted—" Maggie groaned and leaned back on the headboard, wishing she could sink into the cushion of the bed and never reemerge from its depths. She met his eyes as he continued, "And then Bruce put you on a sedative so you'd actually get some rest. So, it's been about twelve hours."
She shot forward when she realized that she'd missed an entire day of work, she knew that it was all hands on deck. She quickly pulled the wire leads from her chest and through the neck of her gown, wincing as the adhesive pulled away from her delicate skin but she didn't care. Before she was able to pull the needle from her hand, Steve had quickly covered it and gave her a scolding look with the shake of his head.
"Maggie!" Pepper's voice was firm as she grabbed Maggie's other hand once more, "Stop."
She could feel her lip quiver as she closed her eyes. She hate that she cried when she was angry or embarrassed; this was no one's fault but her own. Steve quietly let go of her hand and she used it to swipe away some of her tears, "I missed a whole day of work. I was supposed to have a call with—"
"I had it rescheduled." Of course she had. Pepper was always three steps ahead of everyone else, including her. The older woman's thumb soothingly ran across the back of Maggie's hand, avoiding the cannula that protruded from it, as she continued, "You needed rest. You're taking tomorrow off and you can start back Monday, if Bruce clears you to."
The man in question was speaking with a nurse, checking Maggie's current numbers against the ones from early this morning.
"I'm bribing him not to." Natasha chimed in, almost teasingly, as she sauntered towards the bed. She paused and met Maggie's eyes with a tight smile on her lips, "I'm glad you're okay but don't pull this shit again."
With a small nod, she left the infirmary, most likely heading to a meeting. That was about as warm as the Black Widow got.
Pepper's phone rang and she sighed quietly, giving Maggie's hand one last squeeze before standing to take the call to another room.
Steve was still leaning forward as he watched the scene in front of him unfold. Maggie turned to face him, toying with a loose string on one of the blankets. Some of the events from the morning had come back to her in echoes, "You carried me here." Her voice was soft as she recounted what she remembered, "I'm...so sorry about everything."
"What?" Steve tilted his head slightly, raising an eyebrow at her. He was taken aback; an apology was the last thing that he expected to hear.
She stifled a yawn and shook her head as she murmured, "I didn't mean for all of this—"
"Maggie, it's not your fault." Interrupting her, his voice was firm. He rested his elbows on his knees as he looked into her eyes, "You didn't do anything wrong." He shook his head at her familiar need to be the strong one, "You can't be everything all of the time, sometimes you have to let other people take the wheel."
"But I—"
"—can't always control everything." There was a note of finality in his voice when he finished the sentence for her.
Though the two didn't speak often, it was as if he could read her like a book. It was almost unnerving how he knew her so well in such a short period of time.
Changing the subject, he sat back a little as she settled back into the bed. "You need to call Poppy later."
"You told Poppy?!" Maggie groaned, cutting her eyes at him.
"She was your emergency contact!" Steve was almost defensive as the incapacitated woman cut her eyes at him. The glare that was piercing America's star-spangled-man-with-a-plan was almost deadly but he had to tamp down a smile that threatened to rise at her response.
"She will never let me live this down." She grumbled, laying back and settling into the blankets once more, pulling them up over her chest, "I'll call her tomorrow and if she calls before then," she jabbed a finger towards him, "you get to deal with it."
"Deal." He chuckled, watching as she readjusted the blankets, pulling them tighter around herself.
"Captain Rogers?" Maggie's gentle lilt saying his title got his attention once more.
He shook his head with a half-smile, "Steve. I think we're past titles."
"Steve," She agreed, giving a sweet smile in return as her eyes became heavy once more. Her breathing was becoming slow and even as sleep began to take her again, earnest as she continued, "Thank you. For everything."
"No problem." He whispered as she closed her eyes and gently gave her cold hand a reassuring squeeze as she drifted back off to a dreamless sleep.
Even sleep couldn't make her let go of his wide, heavy hand that held her own.
May 20, 2018
Maggie buzzed around the small kitchen, trying to distract herself in one of the only ways she knew how: cooking. Using a knife, she quickly chopped whatever vegetables she was able to find in the fridge before sautéing them in a pan with she'd doused with a green-golden swirl of olive oil. She grabbed a box of pasta from the pantry and read over the label, contemplating how much to make before settling on dumping the entire box into the bubbling water that waited below. She hummed softly to the eighties pop-rock playlist that she'd quietly turned on from her phone as a distraction.
Since leaving the hospital earlier that morning, there was no doubt that she felt better. It was like a switch had been flipped. After everything was said and done, she'd slept for almost twenty-four hours straight.
Each time she'd woken up, Steve Rogers rested in the chair beside her bed, usually awake and doing mission reports or reading but several times she'd caught him slack jaw in his sleep, his head resting back on the headrest as soft snores came from his mouth. Her sunken cheeks and eyes had been reanimated with the hydration that the IV had given her, she no longer felt like she was on the verge of collapsing where she stood, and she had finally regained an appetite.
As she moved around the kitchen, Maggie worked on autopilot. She'd been released on the condition that she would take it easy, and make some attempt at relaxation, before returning to work on Monday morning.
Never one to completely obey orders, she'd returned to her room and, after a shower to rid herself of the sterile smell from the infirmary, began unpacking her things from the brown cardboard moving boxes. Making the unfamiliar space slightly more welcoming had been a feat in itself as she hung pictures and organized her books on the shelf alphabetically. It had been an all-day event; she hadn't noticed that she hadn't eaten since that morning until her stomach rumbled loudly while she sat on her bed, admiring her work.
"Please tell me you made extra." Maggie was taken from her reverie by Natasha dragging a stool out from under the table and sitting down. Crossing her forearms, she rested her chin upon them as she watched the younger brunette move around the kitchen. The two had spoken some in passing but hadn't had much time to get to know one another.
"I definitely did." The quiet exhale of a laugh passed through Maggie's lips, "When was the last time you had a vegetable?"
"I had chips earlier and potatoes are a vegetable, so then." Natasha quipped back with a shrug.
"Okay, so it's safe to say that you don't remember." Maggie shook her head as she tossed the pasta and rainbow of vegetable into the creamy, lemony sauce before covering it in a heavy blanket of parmesan shavings that fell like snow.
She plated the food and slid the dish in front of Natasha who accepted it eagerly. Quickly stabbing several noodles with a fork, she unceremoniously shoved the bite in her mouth before letting out a groan of satisfaction, "This is the best thing I've had all week."
Maggie grinned, spearing a piece of broccoli on her fork, "Considering that I've only seen you eat sandwiches or frozen pizza since I moved in, I'd hope so." The warm food was comforting in some way; the act of cooking had always been soothing to her.
"Mm, where are you off to?" Maggie looked up at the woman's words, following her eyes to find Steve entering the common area, wearing a pair of khaki pants and a tight, white tank top with a towel tossed over his shoulder. The sight of him made her face feel warm. "Hot date?"
"Yeah, with this." He held up a razor, running a hand over the facial hair that he'd been sporting over the past several years while on the run. There hadn't been many opportunities to shave while evading capture. "I think it's time to say goodbye to this thing."
Natasha gave a disapproving frown, before speaking around a mouthful of food, "I liked the beard."
"Me too." Maggie chimed in, smiling over at Steve who met her gaze. She'd seen photos of him before, always clean shaven like a classic, military man but she couldn't help but find the thick beard incredibly attractive.
"Maybe I'll grow it back someday." He chuckled, continuing his way to the bathroom.
The two women ate in a companionable silence only broken by guitar strums and synth notes from the musical stylings of The Cars. After several songs, Maggie sat up after hearing a dull rumble. She drew her eyebrows together and glanced over at Natasha, a matching expression on her face. Through the window, in the distance, Maggie caught sight of a small but bright light and a large shadow above it as the dull noise grew to a roar, beginning to shake the building. "What the hell is that?"
Natasha was already grabbing her jacket, quickly making her way outside. Maggie followed in suit, seeing Pepper far ahead of everyone as Rhodey, Steve, and Bruce made their way out to see what the commotion was as well. The six of them stood near the landing area of the grounds, waiting with bated breath as they watched what looked like a glowing woman slowly help a large spacecraft come to rest on the ground after the landing gears deployed.
A ramp opened from the bottom of the ship and two figures stood at the top, illuminated from behind as it slowly unfolded. Without a doubt, it was Tony. A robot-like woman with blue skin helped to hold the frail man up as they carefully made their way to solid ground. Her breath caught in her throat and she watched as Steve and Pepper took off in a sprint towards them. She felt like she couldn't move as Rhodey gave her a comforting pat on the shoulder.
He was home.
Although worse for wear, Tony had somehow beat the odds and come back to them.
May 21, 2018
"Uncle T," Maggie stood from the chair she'd been residing in for the past hour, exasperated as she followed the sickly man who'd somehow gotten someone to bring him a wheelchair, then decided he needed to talk to everyone else at the compound. "What the fuck are you doing?"
She grabbed the tower to which his IV was attached and put a hand on the back of the chair as he attempted to get away, rolling her eyes and mumbling, "Pepper is going to kick my ass." Quickly, she moved the drip bag to the chair's attached pole and made sure it hung securely before ensuring the coast was clear.
"She'll know it was my idea." Tony gave a small shrug, silently grateful that he didn't have to exert his already limited energy to push himself across the building.
Maggie took the handles and pushed him through the halls, keeping her eyes peeled for any nurses that would be unhappy with his silent escape, "Where did you want to go, anyway?"
"Living area. I need some type of nutrition that isn't liquid," He gave a disdainful look at the IV bag, "And I asked Friday to get everyone there."
"When did you have time to do that?" She raised an eyebrow though he couldn't see her, shaking her head.
"When you were telling the nurse she didn't know how to do a mental status examination and stole my chart."
His response was quick; if the examination hadn't been conclusive, she could tell that his faculties were obviously still intact.
"She was doing it wrong." Maggie defended firmly while slowly rolling him backwards into the elevator, careful not to jostle him too much. She knew he hated being treated like he was fragile but she'd never seen him look quite so ill.
"Was she? Or did you just want to do it yourself?" She could almost hear the smirk in his voice when he quipped back.
"Shut up." She grumbled, no longer having a defense as the ding let them know that they'd already ascended the floors.
"Don't tell me to shut up, young lady. I'm on my deathbed, or in my death chair—" He struggled to look back over his shoulder at her and, although he was only trying to make a joke, Maggie felt a pit drop in her stomach.
She stopped short, turning his chair so he was forced to look at her stern expression as she crossed her arms over her chest, "Don't say that. Don't ever say that." He bowed his head, feeling moderately guilty for the joke as the young woman reprimanded him in the empty lift, "I know you're kidding, but you're not dying. Not now, not anytime soon. Get it?"
"Got it." He nodded, acquiescing her request.
"Good." She gave a short nod before pushing him out through the doors and walking him down the hall in a tense silence before she finally broke it. "If you're done being a drama queen, I'll make you lunch."
"Thank god."
"It's gonna be bland because you're still delicate and I'm not dealing with you if you get sick." She teased, only half-joking with the older man as she parked him at the table between the living area and kitchen.
"Yeah, that's a fair trade." He shrugged.
She turned on the stove, quickly grabbing a pan and soup from the fridge that she'd made a day or two earlier. As she sliced some bread, she glanced over at him, rubbing his tired eyes behind his thick rimmed glasses.
In that moment, she couldn't help but realize exactly how similar she was to her pseudo-uncle. Losing their parents before they'd really gotten a chance to know them. Always using false confidence and humor to mask any past trauma and the constant, paralyzing fear of failure. Never not working.
Sitting the bowl and plate in front of him, she gave a gentle pat to his shoulder before the ruins of the tattered team filled in. Standing aside, she watched as they got down to brass tacks. The already-tense conversation quickly took a turn, Tony's irritation radiating around the room and filling any empty space that it could. She winced as the clattering sound of glass broke the mostly quiet room before Tony ripped his IV from his arm and continued his rampage, finally standing precariously on his own.
As he tried to make his way to Steve, she was grateful that Rhodey grasped his arms, holding him up in an attempt to reason with him. She looked down at the table in front of her, listening as he pushed past his old friend to continue towards the man he had once considered to be one.
Standing, she watched anxiously as he gripped the glowing apparatus in the middle of his chest and pulled it off forcefully, shoving it into Steve's hand. While Tony spoke, she watched Steve's expression flicker between regret and hurt, the lines on his forehead deepening with each blow dealt by Tony before he dropped to the floor.
She hadn't even had time to respond before he'd been returned to the hospital wing, that Maggie was now well-acquainted with, only minutes after he'd fallen. Pepper had met them there, Maggie looking properly reprimanded by her for letting him leave to begin with.
"Just keep me in the loop." Pepper sighed softly, rubbing Tony's arm gently as she gestured to the waiting room. With a nod, Maggie made her way out, following behind as the defenders of the universe discussed their next course of action.
In the evening, after listening to the remaining team's plan, she made her way back to the hospital room through the maze of hallways and doors. Through the glass, she saw Tony still asleep, his chest rising and falling evenly with each breath he took. With her head resting on her arms, leaned over the bed, was Pepper. Knocking gently on the door, she saw the older woman startle slightly before sitting up and waving her in.
Maggie didn't completely enter the room, electing to stay by the door and relay the information that she'd gathered. Her voice was soft, not wanting to wake the exhausted man who was deep within the trenches of sleep, "They know where he is, that Thanos guy." She still had a hard time believing any of this was real: aliens, other world, traveling through space. "They're going to find him. They think that...maybe they can fix everything; make it the way that it was before."
Pepper nodded, taking the information in stride as she brushed a hand over Tony's scruffy face, her thumb caressing his cheek gently. Maggie looked up to the ceiling with her eyes closed, silently sending a prayer to a god, that she didn't believe in.
Maybe the team could do it—maybe they could fix this mistake. But after the sun had come and gone the following day and the team had returned with their heads hung low, she knew that that was finally it.
This was defeat.

Normality (Prologue)
A Natasha Romanoff Story
Summary: Normality has never been in the Black Widow’s dictionary. All her life she was trained in rough conditions and kill from just an order, never having the time for a domestic and simple life. But when she stumbles across a cute guy working in a small coffee shop and her leaving with just a number and a name on a cup, Natasha slowly learns the true meaning of what being normal is like.
Warnings: Fluff, some painful slow burn, okay maybe A LOT of painful slow burn, a bit of angst, language, eventual smut, domestic Natasha (because why not) and some good ol’ wholesome love for the great assassin.
Pairings: Natasha Romanoff x (Trans)Male!Original Character.
Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Azriel Carmel (OC), Clint Barton, Laura Barton, and basically anybody else from the Avengers and some OCs of mine.
A/N: I’ve been reading so much Natasha fanfics to the point where I’m obsessed. This idea came to me a while back, like months ago, but due to being in quarantine with not much to do other than do homework and play club penguin at 2am with friends, I’ve decided - with some encouragement from this really good fanfic that I read - to start this series with high hopes that I’ll be able to not procrastinate on it and actually finish it. Please comment what you think and hope you enjoy!
A Year After The Battle Of New York
"One caramel latte?" The voice, deep and smooth, called out. A woman stood up from her seat near the counter, smiling at the barista while grabbing her small mug of coffee, a thank you leaving her lips. The man smiled back, nodding as he turns back to making a black coffee for another costumer. He grabbed a small mug from the side, putting it onto a white plate as he clicks the portafilter into place, allowing the coffee machine do its magic.
Checking his watch, he sighed, his free hand reaching up to adjust his round glasses. Just twenty more minutes, he thought as the time nears eight o'clock at night, when his shift finishes. He places the cup on the coffee machine, allowing the dark liquid to flow into it. His eyebrows furrowed from a realisation, who's having coffee at this time? Mentally shrugging off the thought, he took the mug once the machine beeped and placed it back on the plate, bringing it to the counter.
"One black coffee?" Just then, a redheaded woman saunters towards the barista, causing him to pause for a bit, taking her appearance in. She was wearing a full black outfit, which wrapped around her figure perfectly, a black leather jacket complementing her even more. He couldn't help it, after all, he is a guy with hormones. But instead of checking her out more, he stopped himself and smiled at her, sliding the mug forward to bring it closer to the woman.
She grabs her drink by the plate, a stiff smile plastered on her face. "Thanks." The man smiled back.
"No problem." She walked back to her table where an open book is placed on top of it. She sat down, sipping her mug before placing it down and picking up her book, her legs crossed and her eyes focused.
The barista couldn't help but stare at her for a bit longer, intrigued and curious about the woman. His head tilted to the side a bit, his light brown eyes taking in her appearance. The woman must've notice, since her own eyes diverted from her book to him, causing him to quickly look away and continue on with his work, his nerves taking over his body as he fidgets around with some equipments.
Natasha looked at him, an eyebrow raised before looking back at her book. She sipped her coffee again, frustration slowly creeping onto her skin as her eyes lose focus from the story she was invested in just ten minutes ago. Ignoring the random thoughts that were trying to invade her mind, she chugged down her cup of coffee, placing her book back down before walking back to the till, her mug and plate in hand.
From behind the till, she saw that the barista had his back to her, his short, curly black hair swishing around as he moved swiftly within the small area, the smell of chocolate making its way into Natasha's nose as he placed the takeaway cup in front of a young girl who smiled at him before rushing out of the cafe.
He exhaled, a crooked, tired smile plastered on his face, his brown eyes slowly moving their attention from the wooden counter to the redhead staring at him with piercing green orbs. Startled slightly, his eyes went wide for a bit before fazing back to normal, his smile never faltering, only lifting slightly.
The barista's feet moved his body quickly to the till with him now facing Natasha once again. He immediately noticed the empty mug, chuckling before he put his attention back onto the redhead.
"Isn't it bad for you to have black coffee late at night." He said with amusement written across his face. She responded with a raised eyebrow, challenging him to talk further. Unfortunately, the man was blissfully ignorant. "Seriously, you won't be able to have your beauty sleep if you drink too much."
Natasha hummed, the corners of her lips moving upwards slightly, but her face still emotionless. "And aren't you supposed to be serving your customer?" The black haired man chuckled nervously, his large hand - not that Natasha noticed, no - moved to scratch the back of his neck.
"Sorry," Embarrassment washes over his face, a slight tint of pink on his light-tanned skin. "D'you want another mug of black?" The redhead looked at him blankly for a second before nodding her head, her hand passing her mug to the barista while her other hand reached into her pocket to grab her wallet.
The man gladly took her mug placing it on the counter behind him quickly before he turned back to face the redhead once again. He saw her waller in hand, and for some odd reason, he shook his head. "You don't need to pay."
Natasha looked back up from her wallet, her eyebrows rising a bit in question. The brown-eyed man mentally winced, almost regretting saying that, but instead of backing out from what he blurted out, he continued on, with less confidence. "Um, it's on the house."
Her face stayed the same. "Since, you know, the cafe's about to close, and there isn't anyone here, and I thought why not make this pretty woman some nice coffee for fr-"
"So I'm just a pretty face?" The redhead cut him off, amused at him nervously ranting in front of her. He was lucky that no one was around to witness it.
"What? No! I mean," His eyes kept on diverting to everything around the cafe except for the woman in front of him. He eventually gave up on whatever he was going to say and instead sighed, his shoulders deflating and his head tilted down slightly. "I'll just go make your coffee."
Natasha smirked, enjoying the fact that she could make any man a stuttering mess. "Two things," She then said, causing the barista to snap his attention back to her. "One, your name."
"Oh, uh..." Surprise was slapped across his face for a moment before he recovered a bit. "It's Azriel. What about yo-"
"Two," She held up two fingers which made the man - Azriel - stop himself from talking any further. "Can I have my coffee to go?"
The black haired man blinked, speechless and confused at the same time. He slowly nodded, his feet twisting him around so that he could continue on doing his work. Azriel placed the mug into the sink as he reached for a take away cup, only to pause, hesitance in his stance.
"Uh..." His light brown eyes met her green ones again. "D'you want a small or medium?" She started at him for a moment, her mind calculating and observing.
"Small." With a nod, the barista went back to work with a small cup in hand. Whilst the black haired man was focused on making her coffee, Natasha began thinking over the conversation. It was weird, strange even, that somehow, out of all the coffee places she could go to and people she could talk to, she just had to stumble across this small, yet comfy, coffee shop where the barista just so happens to be a cute guy that the assassin herself can't help but check out from behind him.
His body was lean, but not too skinny to make him seem lanky. His shoulders were slightly broad, unlike Steve's shoulders, and although his arms were covered by his long-sleeve sweater, she could tell that he had a slight muscle build from the way the material fit perfectly around them.
As her eyes raked over his body, she didn't seem to notice the small detail of Azriel writing some numbers and a few words on her cup once the machine finished making the redhead's coffee. He turned around suddenly, smiling brightly - though his eyes held some bit of exhaustion - causing Natasha's eyes to quickly divert from watching his firm ass (I'm still a woman with desires, she told herself as she forced her eyes to look at the man's slightly round face.
"Here you go." He said, nervously handing her the hot drink. She took it, her lips curving upwards, a small smile plastered on her mouth as she grabbed her drink.
"Thanks."
"Anytime." Azriel nodded, his eyes suddenly interested on the counter in front of him, earning a chuckled from Natasha as she walked towards the door. She opened it, causing a chime to ring through the empty shop, her head twisting around so that she could see the cute barista over her shoulder.
With a grin, she spoke: "See you later, Azriel."
"Y-yeah, see you!" He replied with a wave, his voice sounding a little too enthusiastic for a response, causing him to wince visibly after. Fortunately for him, the redhead was already gone, allowing him to sigh in relief. A content smile graced his lips for a bit before it dropped once he saw the time.
8:22pm.
"Ah crap." Azriel huffed in frustration, knowing that he won't be able to sleep for another two hours if he doesn't close the cafe soon. Throughout the night, from when he was sweeping the floor clean to when he finally got back to his apartment, green eyes circled around his mind, never leaving for just a moment.

Send Help: Addicted to Roleplay and Chipotle
Greetings from Earth! First time poster to this blog and stoked to meet some new partners. My name is Chris and I'm a male nurse (Yo, you're going to get some medically accurate roleplay) in his late twenties. I have a lovely wife and two stupidly handsome animals (Pictures of the animals available on request) but manage to maintain a pretty active roleplay life due to the fact that I work nights. The Basics: I tell everyone that I'm a professional. I try to reply 1-3 times a week and the length of posts depends on amount of characters in play. If I'm going to take longer, I always try to let you know. I'm willing to write male and female characters and focus on M/F as the male and F/F. M/M just isn't my thing, sorry y'all. My limits include pedophilia, rape, and animal abuse. Anything else can be discussed. I prefer e-mail for writing ([email protected]) but have Discord for plotting (NurseBatman#3674). If we get along really well, you can convince me into discord roleplay. The text limit just drives me nuts. I do use faceclaims pretty aggressively. Is there anything else? Central time zone?
Onto the roleplay stuff. I'll start with originals and then dive into fandoms. I put extra *s by the lines that I will literally lose my mind if you approach me about. Searching hard! -The Social Media Age****** A m/f line that I've given a little thought to, looking for someone to write a young woman that is pretty much making her living being an instagram model/fitness person, etc. I think the proper term is *Influencer*. Meets and starts dating a successful guy with no presence online, the two falling for each other but at odds over their differing attitudes towards the world. -This American Life Something set in the 1970s, focusing on a roadtrip. A group of teenagers leave their small town behind to head out west. I love this time period. Can be supernatural, supernatural lite (think Twin Peaks weirdness) or totally natural. -Stranger Things inspired A group of four to six friends enjoy their last summer together in a remote town as strangeness begins to unfurl. I'd be willing to set this in the present but think it would be way more fun in the 70s or 80s. I have an idea for one of the kids having lost a sibling in a strange way when they were young and possibly some sort of cult in town.
Fandoms!
-Star Wars**
I know Reylo is all the rage these days, as is Qi'Ra/Han. But, man ALIVE, I really want something focusing on the core four: Luke, Leia, Han, and, ya boy, Chewie. Something taking place in that three year gap between New Hope and Empire as they work among the rebellion. Strange new worlds, getting into scrapes, sharply running from the empire, avoiding Vader, bounty hunters, and all sorts of things. This time period is far from explored and we can really thrive in the galaxy. Primarily I want to focus on the budding relationship between Han and Leia and Luke's training, pre-Yoda. In a perfect world, I'd want to write Han and Chewie (If anyone thinks Chewie is just a NPC, get out my face) while my partner takes on Leia and Luke. I'd be willing to switch out Chewie for Luke if need be, I guess? We could also split up C3PO and R2. I also would enjoy writing a young Amilyn Holdo and a few other soldiers. Let's real build out the resistance and delve into the 'WARS' part of those big yellow letters that never get enough attention. On top of all of that, I also have an original love interest in mind for Luke if someone else plays him! She's a spitfire. Alternatively, I'd be down for writing something set in the clone wars. Perhaps two jedi that broke the order's relationship laws and then survived Order 66 together? -Preacher Seriously. Love this show, love this comic. Would happily write Jesse or Cassidy against Tulip. Just definitely looking for a Tulip -The Boys Would love to write Hughie against Starlight! Currently working my way through the season that just dropped. -Marvel -I will love you forever if you write an Elektra against my Daredevil. They are toxic and in love and I love it. Whether it be the comics or the Netflix series, I don't care. Someone please write me an Elektra. Netflix did a good job of portraying this one -Alternatively, I'd also be happy to write against a Black Widow, either with Daredevil. They were a mainstay OTP in the comics in the 90s and I'd love to write against Scarlet's Black Widow. -Has anyone seen the trailer for the neverendingly delayed New Mutants movie? I would love to write something based on that horror aspect of the mutant universe.* -I'd love to write an older MCU Peter Parker (like college) running across a MCU version of Black Cat. Or just a Spiderman roleplay in general. I've always wanted to write Peter but have never gotten the chance! I have a ton of ideas for this, plus faceclaims for a few of the villains. Would also be willing to play him against Zendaya's MJ, Spidergwen, or Silk (Deepcut)**************************** (I so badly want to write Peter) -One of the pairings that was done for a time in the comics was Star Lord against Kitty Pryde and it was actually a lot of fun. If anyone would want to do a MCU version of this, I would so *DOWN* to play Quill, Xmen hijinks a plenty in space -If you write Jessica Jones, I'd be willing to write almost anyone against her (NOT KILGRAVE). Just let me know. I'd be super down to write Luke Cage or maybe Matt Murdock. I do a mean John Constantine, which, let's face it, is a cross company illustration of the two most terrible people together -Hawkguys! I would love to either write Clint against Kate Bishop (This would be a slightly skewed MCU vibe) or Kate against America Chavez. I would really love to do either of these lines. Or a poly version if someone is willing! -I'd love to write Logan as an active member of the MCU Avengers, possibly as a partner in crime/wetworks/murder with Black Widow. Those two could cause some mayhem. -Honestly, any X-men relationship could be sold to me. Just try it. I would love to find a Kitty for Piotr, a Rogue for Remy, or almost anyone for Kurt.
-DC I'd love to write Batman against Catwoman, please. Or John Constantine against literally almost anyone -Hannibal I've been dying to do a sort of season 4 for a while now, focused on Clarice Starlings interaction with Will Graham and later Hannibal Lecter. Just need to find someone willing to create an original style Clarice. -Resident Evil I'd like to write Leon against Claire Redfield or Jill Valentine in an original outbreak or a new one. I know this is an old school fandom but I'm a diehard fan. -Star Trek Okay, so first up, I am not the most well versed Trekkie in the world. Never watched any of the TV shows but am a massive fan of the trio of rebooted films and would love to give Kirk or Bones a try against Uhura, Dr. Eve, or maybe a female Vulcan OC? Hit me with ideas! -The Matrix Another obscure fandom. Maybe just an original crew, set during the movies, after, or an AU where they're the only survivors of Zion? Im not sure but I could plot something out!
-Uncharted I'd love to write Chloe Frazier against Nadine Ross, continuing their adventures. I'm pretty wide open on what we can do with this one. RANDOM CRACK SHIPS! Caught in a Web: I would love to write an iteration (Daniel Craig or an original) of James Bond/007 against a non superhero version of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. Spy vs spy shenanigans as two people working for different governments. Totally impossibly but putting it just in case: Did anyone see all that Wonder Woman/Lara Croft art that was floating around the internet earlier this year? I would love to dive into that. I'd prefer to write Lara but I'm definitely not picky. If you made it this far, you're a hero and I owe you a beer. Hope to hear from some great writers! Let's create something *EPIC*

The Girl in the Pond Pt. 2 (Bones: Marvel AU)
Characters in this chapter: Steve Rogers, Female Reader, Wanda Maximoff, Tony Stark, Peter Parker, Natasha Romanoff, Original Male Character
Warnings: Language, More talks about a dead body, Slight violence.
Pairings: None. (Eventual Steve Rogers x Reader)
Summary: You are a forensic anthropologist working for the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. when you and your team get recruited by the FBI to aid one of their top field agents, Special Agent Steve Rogers. Together, along with your colleagues/friends you put faces on the voiceless and throw the bad guys where they belong.
Author’s Note: So this is my first Marvel AU series and I’m quite nervous on how this is going to turn out. The series is going to be based on the TV show Bones and since the show is 12 seasons long I’m just going to base the series on some of my favorite episodes including the series finale coming out in the upcoming weeks. I only hope I do it justice. I want to thank @mrs-squirrel-chester for convincing me into writing this and for not only being as awesome beta but because she also made this kick-ass edit above.
“What's the context of the find?” you asked Agent Rogers as you both walked down the grassy hill, reading the names on the rows of white marble headstones. “Routine landscaping,” Steve replied, looking down at his notepad. “Dropped a load in the local pond, one of the workmen thought he saw something.” You recognized the emblem on the side of the black windowless van that was parked a few yards away from the pond; it was the Smithsonian Medico-Legal Lab emblem. The passenger door opened and a young man hopped out; duffle bag in one hand and a camera in the other.
Recognizing him immediately, you waved him over. “Hi Peter.”
Peter greeted you with a hug, ““This eco-warrior look works for you. Very action oriented.”
“Thanks.” you replied, looking down at your outfit. “Agent Rogers, you remember my assistant Peter Parker?”
“Of course,” Agent Rogers answered, sticking out his right hand. “Great to see you again kid.”
“How was Guatemala? Dig up lots of massacred victims? Learn a thing or two about machete strikes?” Peter asked you, completely ignoring Steve, who made a face at Peter’s rude gesture.
You cleared your throat and Peter quickly realized his mistake. “Sorry,” he muttered, taking Agent Rogers’ hand to give it a firm shake. “Good to see you again Agent.”
“Hey Pete, I need water samples and temperature readings from the pond,” you ordered.
“Right away doc.” He spun on his heel, quickly turning the other way, leaving you alone with Agent Rogers.
“Kid’s got no sense of discretion. Typical Squint…” Steve said, as they reached the river bank.
“Squint?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Ah you know, when cops get stuck, we bring in people like you. You know? Squints. You know, you squint at things,” Steve explained with a shit-eating grin. “Like this,” he demonstrated for you.
“Oh, you mean people with very high IQ's and basic reasoning skills?” You gave him a smart-ass answer.
His smile dropped, giving you a look as if he had just tucked his tail between his legs. “Yeah.”
“So what exactly am I supposed to be squinting at?” you asked, staring at a monitor while standing in the middle of a small boat, along with Agent Rogers, in the middle of the pond.
Steve dropped a camera attached to a cable into the pond. “Oh, you know, it’s like pornography,” Steve said as he continued to lower the camera. “You'll know it when you see it.”
“Like you would know,” you snarked, shooting your partner a wink.
His cheeks flushed pink. “Shut up Bones.”
You chuckled to yourself then turned your head to look back at the screen where you saw what looked to be a skeleton wrapped around in wire.
“Oh yeah, this is a crime scene,” you called out to Steve. “Call in the divers and bring the body up to land,” you ordered.
After thirty minutes of locating the body and a quick change, you were finally able to examine the remains while Peter leaned over to snap some photos. Kneeling down you pulled on some rubber gloves, grabbed a tool from your bag, and started removing some of the algae and wire that was attached.
“Remains are wrapped in four-milled, flat poly-construction sheeting,” you announced to Peter, who then crouched down on the opposite side of you.
“PVC coated chicken wire,” Peter responded as he helped you pull it away from the body.
“It’s weighted.” you added, looking up at Peter. “That's why the body didn't surface during decomposition.” There was a small bone fragment, which you held up to the magnifying glass. “The skeleton is complete but the skull is in fragments.”
Suddenly you felt Steve’s presence behind you. “What can you tell me?”
“Not much,” you answered, not looking at him. “She was a young woman, probably between 18 and 22, approximately 5'3", race unknown, delicate features.”
“That's all?” He asked in disbelief, crouching down next to you.
“Well, she was a tennis player,” you responded coolly.
Steve scratched the back of his neck. “How do you get a tennis player out of… well that?” he asked, referring to the muck that covered the remains.
Peter jumped in with an answer, “Epiphyses fusion gives age.” He pointed at one of the legs. “Pelvic bone shape gives sex of the victim.”
“Bursitis in the shoulder,” you pointed at the left arm. “Somebody this young, must be an athletic injury.”
“Okay?” Steve asked still not getting what you and Peter were talking about. “When did she die?”
“Ehhh…” both you and Peter replied, still not looking at the agent.
“Ehhh?” he mocked. “What do you mean Eh?”
Peter rolled his eyes, then got up, facing Agent Rogers. “It means wait until our bug and slime guy takes a look,” he said.
“Collect silt, 3 meters radius, to a depth of 10 cm,” you ordered Peter to do as you pulled the zipper on your baggy bodysuit and yanked it down, revealing your white long sleeve t-shirt and dark wash jeans. “Your FBI forensics team can take the plastic and the chicken wire, we'll take the rest.”
Walking up the stairs, heading into your office, you noticed your boss, Natasha Romanoff, leaving your office.
“Dr. Romanoff!” you shouted as you jogged over to the petite redhead in front of you.
“Dr. Y/L/N? How was Guatemala?” she asked, not that she cared. She was trying to divert the situation.
“You know, Dr. Romanoff, I wish you wouldn't just give me to the FBI,” you said as you walked along with her, not letting her change the subject.
“As a federally funded institution,” Natasha started as you both went down the stairs. “The Smithsonian must seize every opportunity to prove our worth to our friends in Congress. Which means, I loan you out as I see fit, especially to federal agencies.”
You rolled your eyes at your boss. “'Loan out' implies property Dr. Romanoff,” you responded. “And the FBI will never respect me as property.”
“I do not view you as property Dr. Y/L/N,” Natasha stopped you. “You are one of the Smithsonian's most valuable assets.”
“An asset is, by definition, property.” The two of you heard Peter say from behind.
Natasha rolled her eyes. “What's the rule Mr. Parker?”
“You only converse with PhD's,” Peter deadpanned. “You realize I am half way through two Doctorates? Two halves make a whole, so mathematically speaking…”
Natasha turned around and cut off Peter, “Go polish a bone Mr. Parker!”
“Hey Stark, find anything good on our body here?” You asked, swiping your ID card against the lock near the lab’s entrance.
After pulling a lab coat over your shoulders, you grabbed a pair of rubber gloves and joined your colleague Tony.
“The pond is not only warm and teeming with microbes, which accelerated decomposition, but it houses black carp and koi which fed on the body,” he answered while still looking over the body.
Walking up the steps into the lab, Wanda almost choked on the smell of rotting flesh. “Oh god! Can I, as the only normal person in this room, say, Ew?
“Can you determine how long ago the victim died?” you inquired.
“Well, given by three larval stages of trichoptera, chironimidae…” Tony replied before you cut him off.
“In English, Stark.”
Tony sighed, all enthusiasm gone. “The body was in the pond one winter and two summers.”
“So spring before last,” you easily calculated, muttering to yourself as you turned back and looked at the monitor.
“You really think I'm Robert?” Tony asked out of the blue after a long pause.
“What?” you looked at Wanda in confusion.
“The book, sweetie,” Wanda answered.
You let out a dry chuckle and shook your head. “No, No, No. You're not in the book.”
“Well sure he is! We all are…” Peter cut in.
“No, none of you are in the book. Those are fictitious characters based on....”
“I found some small bone fragments in the silt,” Tony interrupted you mid sentence, motioning everyone to take a look at the monitor as he moved the magnifying glass over to the victim’s ribcage.
“Dr. Stark, can you determine the kind of bones found in the silt?” you asked.
“Given the size of the bone fragments, I’d say Rana Temporaria,” Tony answered.
“So frog bones?”
He nodded. “Also found some tiny gold links, those from a fine chain…”
“Just to clarify..” Peter announced. “I'm not a virgin. Nowhere near in fact.”
Tony snorted, trying to contain his laughter to which Wanda elbowed him in the arm.
“Oh my god, can you guys just ignore the fucking book and focus on your jobs?” you shouted exasperatedly.
“Who you captured perfectly, is Rogers. Buttoned down, but buckets of sexual confidence which, uhhh, I for one would love to tap.” Wanda let out a little smirk which made you roll your eyes at her.
“Wand, you’re not helping,” you muttered.
“Oh come on!” She walked over, grabbing you by the shoulders. “Like you wouldn’t tap that?” She giggled, which made your cheeks flush in embarrassment.
“It’s not polite to discuss ‘ass tapping’ in front of a soaker,” Peter breathed in irritation.
“And yet, you wanted to announce to everyone that you’re not a virgin,” Tony argued back.
“Okay everyone shut up and ignore the book!” you yelled at your colleagues. “Peter, remove the remaining tissue, I'll debreed the skull fragments myself, reassemble it so Wanda can put a face on our victim. And Stark, can you analyze the paper found in the victim’s hand?”
“Good. I prefer holographs, they don't stink,” Wanda answered, referring to the decomposing body.
“Sure thing, Dr. Y/L/N,” Both Tony and Peter said as the three headed out of the lab, before you pulled Peter back by the shoulder.
“Listen Pete, I don't like those terms for human remains, ya know; soaker, crispy critter stuff like that?” You whispered.
He hung his head low as if he was being scolded, his hands fidgeting with his royal blue lab coat.” Sorry, Dr. Y/N,” he replied.
“Hey no, I’m not mad at you Peter.” You let out a sigh. “I’m just saying that when we’re in the middle of an investigation, it’s better to just say victim and not weird nicknames alright?” You patted his back and asked, “Now go clean the bones alright?”
He let out a weak smile. “Sure thing doc.”
“So,” Steve’s superior, Director Nick Fury pondered as he sat at his desk across from Steve. “You guaranteed a squint a field role in an active murder investigation, Agent Rogers. Is that correct?”
Steve nodded. “Yes sir.”
“Huh, that’s funny,” the director replied, scratching his chin. “I thought you said she wouldn’t work with you anymore?”
Steve shifted in his seat before answering, “Well, the last case we worked she provided a description of the murder weapon and the murderer, but I didn't give her much credence.”
“And why is that?” Director Fury asked.
“Because she did it by looking at the victim's autopsy x-rays,” Steve answered.
The director snorted at Steve’s comment. “Well I wouldn't give it much credence either.”
“Turns out she was right on both,” Steve answered. “Plus the pond victim, Y/F/N gave me the victim’s age, sex, and favorite sport,” he praised with confidence.
The director chuckled, leaning closer to Steve.“Which is?”
“Tennis.”
Fury leaned back in awe. “She’s good.”
“Oh, she's amazing,” Steve answered proudly. “If the only way I can get her back to my side is to bring her out in the field, I'm willing to let her.”
The room fell quiet. Director Fury looked pensive for a moment, debating on whether or not he should grant permission as Steve shifted uncomfortably in his chair, wringing his hands together due to nerves.
“Fine.” Director Fury finally announced. “You can take her out in the field, but ultimately, she is your responsibility.”
Steve practically leapt from his chair, took a hold of the director’s hand, and shook it. “Thank you sir.”
Hearing a strange noise in your house, you scrambled out of your bed and crouched underneath, pulling out an aluminum bat. You were slowly tip-toeing down the hallway when suddenly, a dark figure walked through the bead curtains. Within the blink of an eye, you swung your bat hard, connecting with glass and smashing it, sending the person tumbling down on the floor amidst a sea of glass shards.
You stood over and almost swung when suddenly you heard a familiar voice stopping you, “Y/N, wait!”
“Julian?” You cried, surprised to find your ex-boyfriend in your house. You extended your right arm and he took it, lifting himself up off the floor.
“It's not rational for you to choose the first day I'm back to reclaim your television.” You sighed as you took a seat on your lounge chair.
Julian sat down on the chair opposite you. “While you were away, I thought a lot about why we broke up,” he replied nervously.
“We fought all the time and don't like each other anymore,” you answered bluntly.
“We fought because you are emotionally distant and cold,” Julian retorted as he got up from his chair and sauntered over to your chair, sitting dangerously close to you. “But sexually speaking, I think you'll agree tha-”
You immediately cut him off, “You didn't come for your TV, you timed this for a booty call!” You pushed him off the couch with a pissed off groan. “You’re a fuckin’ pig you know that.”
“Oh come on!” Julian got up and ran behind you. “Your intimacy issues are probably due to being orphaned so young.”
“Ughh... I hate psychology and you're just horny.” You rolled your eyes painfully hard at your ex.
“Y/N, honey, do you really want to spend the rest of your life alone?” he asked, a shit-eating smirk plastered across his face.
However, it didn’t last long as you slapped him hard across the cheek. “Get out Julian,” you growled as you pushed him out of the house.
Clutching the left side of his cheek, he asked, “So what, we split the cost of the TV?”
“Go fuck yourself,” you spat, slamming the door his face and stomped back into the living room where you threw yourself back on the lounge chair with a soft thud. You grabbed a cushion and buried your face, screaming into it.
The next day, Wanda, Steve, and you gathered around at a squared table in Wanda’s office, along with Peter and Tony.
“Does Rogers know how this works?” you asked with a hint of sarcasm in your voice and Steve shot you a dirty look.
“This computer program, which Tony and I designed, patent pending, accepts a full array of digital input, processes it, and then projects it as a three dimensional holographic image,” Wanda said as she tapped away on her tablet. A holographic skeleton popped up a moment later. “I call it FRIDAY.”
“You get that?” you asked Steve sarcastically.
“Sure thing, doll,” he replied with a smirk. Being the smart ass he was, he added, “Even the patent pending part.”
“Get a room you two,” Wanda teased, to which both you and Steve rolled your eyes.
“Anywho… Y/L/N reassembled the skull and applied tissue markers,” Wanda said as she continued to tap on her tablet.
As Wanda added the markers to the skull, you explained to everyone in the room how you managed to pull it off, “Her skull was badly damaged, but racial indicators, cheekbone dimensions, nasal arch, occipital measurements suggest African American.”
“And.... We have our victim,” Wanda announced as a full upper body photograph appears in hologram form.
“Whoa…” Steve whispered as he put his hand through the hologram and wiggled his fingers. “Have to admit, that's pretty cool.”
You slapped Steve’s hand away from the hologram. “Hey Wand, can you rerun the program substituting caucasian values?” you asked.
The image altered slightly as Wanda entered the information into her tablet. “Does she look familiar to anyone?” you asked everyone in the room.
Confused, Tony, Peter, Steve, and Wanda looked at each other, then shook their heads no.
“Split the difference, mixed race,” you told Wanda.
“Lenny Kravitz or Vanessa Williams?” she asked, head cocked to the side.
“Hmmm…” you thought for a moment before making a decision, “Vanessa Williams.”
Wanda added in more features and the image changed again. Steve was taken back by the final result. “Oh no,” he breathed, a hand resting on his hip.
“Anyone recognize her?” you asked the group once more.
“Not me,” Peter replied.
“Wait, is that who I think it is?” asked Wanda as she placed her tablet down on the table beside her.
“The girl who had the affair with the Senator?” Asked Tony.
“Her name is Cleo Louise Eller,” Steve said softly. “Only daughter to Ted and Sharon Eller. Last seen approximately 9pm, April 6, 2016 leaving the Cardio Deluxe Gym on K Street, she didn't even make it to her car.”
You turned to Steve. “Pretty good memory,” you acknowledged.
“Yeah, well, it's my job to find her,” he answered, not looking at you.
“Well, in that case, congratulations on your success.” Tony stuck his hand out for Steve to shake.
Steve shook his head in dismay, “This isn't exactly the way I wanted it to end.” He turned on his heel and headed towards the door. He stopped and towards you and your group “I need this kept quiet.”
