Make Every Room In Your Home An Enjoyable Place By Choosing The best paint roller for walls
Your home reflects your personal style, and we value the efforts you put into setting the right kind of vibe in your every room. Right from selecting the colour for your room to arranging the furniture, every bit of effort is worth investing in. As far as the walls are concerned, we believe that- if your room looks unfinished, then it is likely because of the lack of wall painting and wall décor. Therefore to help you out, we have stepped in *drum rolls* - we will choose the best paint roller for walls coupled with ideas that can spruce up your walls.
Understanding the structure of paint rollers:
A paint roller consists of two main components, viz. a frame and the nap. The metal body frame, which looks like a cage in the upper part of the roller, on the frame goes the covering of the nap. A handle is attached to the frame in the lower part of the roller.
Choosing the right nap for your right frame:
A roller frame comes in many sizes, 18 inches long (Extra Large), 9 inches long (Large), and 4 inches long (Small). For painting the wall, always use a 14 inch or 18-inch long frame roller. A large roller helps you cover the large surfaces in less time.
Selecting the right nap based on the texture of your wall:
A roller nap comes in different sizes and lengths and is generally made from natural or synthetic fibers. Note- here is- the longer the nap, the more it has the capacity to hold the paint.
Here’s a basic guideline for selecting the right nap-
> ¼-inch nap- Walls that are smooth and fine. > ⅜-inch nap- Walls that are smooth yet has a light texture. > ½-inch nap- Walls that have medium-rough surface. > ¾-inch nap- Walls which are rough. (This nap coupled with a strong cage is considered to be the best paint roller for textured walls)
Selecting roller cover based on its paint sheen:
This might come as a surprise, as not many people know the importance of selecting the roller cover based on the paint’s sheen. Generally, a gloss and semi-gloss paint sheen go better with a short nap. This is because- such naps usually generate less foam and bubbles when rolling the paint out on the wall.
Pro Tip:
We assume that at this point, you are very well versed with the basic structure of the roller and its guideline over the selection of the nap. However, if you want to become a pro at painting with the paint rollers, then here are some pro tips that you cannot miss to afford.
1. Always squeeze the nap before buying. After squeezing, if it quickly returns to its original shape, then the nap is perfect for your use. 2. For professional finishing, use the rounded end of the foam roller cover. This ensures to prevent you from getting the roller edge lines on the finished wall. 3. The right amount of pressure equals a great finished wall. Whenever dealing with the roller, put a habit of applying gentle pressure. In case if you apply excessive pressure, then your work will look extremely messy and unprofessional. 4. Dip it, but not too deep! While painting your walls, always make sure to dip only the nap in the paint. Once you do this, spin the roller against the screen and then dip it again slightly. For best results, use the paint pot pro’s tray. Great tools always help in uniformly coating the paint over the nap. 5. If you are using latex paints, then use polyester and nylon fiber rollers. If you are painting with oil-based paints, then use natural fibers- like mohair and lamb’s wool. Leaving aside the wall for a moment- if you are painting on a porous surface like bare wood, then make use of foam rollers. 6. Look for the internal material of the roller cover. The rollers that are made of cardboard are usually not recommended, the reason being- they cannot be cleaned. Plastic is idle to use because it can be reused and is easy to clean. 7. Cleaning is imperative, and you can never skip this step. If you have used latex paint, then use soap and water to clean the nap. Just hold the nap under the running water & rub the nap against Paint Pot Pro’s roller cleaner. Allow the nap to completely dry; make sure that the nap holds zero amount of water.
