Brainstorm ideas that respond to the site and the brief (and a key challenge 1).
Paintball World. The advantages of having a paintball world at Northshore are that Northshored is geographically remote from residential areas, has river banks and the staggered shipping containers provide good cover to immerse players. Northshore Paintball World is not as accessible as other parts of Brisbane and requires a lot of equipment and there is still a risk of injury.

The history of Adelaides incredible IT and internet gurus, from 1995, Quakeworld Multiplayer Online Servers to 2020: 20+ years of South Australias Online Gaming & Internet Pioneers.
The history of Adelaides incredible IT and internet gurus, from 1995, Quakeworld Multiplayer Online Servers to 2020: 20+ years of South Australias Online Gaming & Internet Pioneers. “Quaker the Home Breaker “ Adeliades New Geeks go global, Quake One and Idsoft and John Cammack the farther of Online Gaming, the new online world 25 years ago QuakeWorld Clan Arena FPS....Quakeworld Capture The Flagand Clan Arena” was the game that was the “gamechanger” for Online MultiPlayer Net Gaming in June 1995. Ive been playing online since John Cammack and Co. at ID Software built the game that changed PC gaming bigtime, there genius in terms of getting 30 plus players battling each other in real time was and still is the core “code” of TF2 and most other FPS games. The feeling of dropping into a fast paced in your face game of CTF for the first time online is like going to war literally against an enemy that is very real and you can feel your opposition even though there just avatars and packets of data you are emersed in a new world that is very real and very cool. Quake Gameserver to not lag or glitch out on a server thats providing gameplay with packets of data going round the world literally is an amazing software code and data compression that made quake a masterpiece of design. 1995 The Quake Game Engine Coded and Optermized for the network gaming. What was the new software tech that made Team CTF possible ? Binary Space Partitioning and the Reducing 3D complexity to increase speed optimise world rendering. The engine core optimise the world rendering. The Quake engine also used Gouraud shading for moving objects, and a static lightmap for nonmoving objects. Much of the engine remained in Quake II and Quake III Arena. The Quake engine, like the Doom engine, used binary space partitioning (BSP) to optimise the world rendering. The Quake engine also used Gouraud shading for moving objects, and a static lightmap for nonmoving objects. So the Two Johns at ID soft shifed the game paradigm online and even the Nets New Online gaming community new it was super cool and these Bullitin Board ( now ex Dugeons n Dragons Boardgame Players) /Nerds and Pimple Headed lovers of Tech were sucked into our world like the suns gravity into Global Multiplayer Team Quake the first true FPS and the First Person Shooters got status over DandD and importantly thats why TF2 and QuakeLive, Champions and clan arena etc are all the community spinoffs are as popular today as they were when CTF was massive and a global community of hardcore, underground gamers, guyz were chatting about, the like ur in the same room awesome game engine, net playability with full servers ( over 128k ISDN ) first released Quake1 i “Game Physics” was the hot online topic, and the ID quake game engine was a gamers “holy grail” producing realistic, balanced kickarse gameplay as if your were fraggin your mates on a highspeed Local Network (LAN). Your actually emersed in the game like your all playing Paintball In Real Time where it felt like we were fighting like an elite army of commandos that had milliseconds to react and save the team from losing the battle and online credability.Quaker the Home Breaker , after my mates and me lost girlfriends, jobs, etc because we played solid (24x7) sometimes for months, we were addicted to our new online gibbfest. The net was still basically a few startup ISPs with “stacks” of either 128k ISDN Modems, or if you could afford a bunch of Telsta T1 Pipes, say 10x (1.5mb ADSL) you had serious bandwidth, low pings and you were connected to backbone of the net to sydney, then ASIA, USA via big fat underground cables, and Mike new a dude who new another dude who found out chariot had a 50MB Pipe that he setup gave our Alliegence of Aust ganers and our crew a chance to play lagg free and be compeative against the best, our little ozzie clan, was now ready to frag and compete with 20ms pings, Mercury went from a very good player to a powerhouse, that pushed us to becoming better players as he fragged his way to Glory, in Japan and LA, that gave us a level playing field against LOW ping Asian Hi Speed Broadband and the US Hi Sped Biz Net. 20Ms Ping times we dreamed about came true. Multiplay FPS, quakeworld ctf, arena, deathmatch was our new world where we waged a global battle that in reality , jobs, uni etc was our clan AOD (Alligence of Destruction) was formed in 1997, so we play CTF and battle in Japan and the US (and Sydney/ Brisbane) against the best new CTF talent in the hardcore net gaming world, where avatars, claming ur cheating / bot coz U cant Rocket Jump like that dude, flaming and roasting your victums was a newbee craze as thats where all the good (best Quake players were ) So, thanks to Mike (Mercury) with his tech expertise, and off the rictor gaming skills (Especially with Quake, he was the Rocket Jump Guru that pissed off a lot of very good OS players that he just fargged to death till they wanted Mercury banned for life for cheating and doing shit that isnt possible with a RL and a Formula One Racing type of split second thinking. Back then, PC,s were its the start with a base hardcore SA clan of me (Kruger), Mercury, Quicksilver, Bloodsport and SMD. We “built our own “ , 586 DX Pentium Pro100mhz server from bits n pieces we got and somehow convinced the Network IT Manger ( a nubee Quake convert) to host the gameserver ( there was quake 30 players in SA ) at that time, we had LAN nights when we wernt online LOL :) roughly a new ISP startup (Chariot Internet) to TF2...is in my opinion...is an awesome in your face , well balanced , ultra fast, very tough “battle “ of the mind and a well organised team can turn the battle into a raging inferno (pyro deserves that), fire beats most, is so much fun it still gives me a buzz like quakeworld CTF did when we dubbed it

End of Year Asks: My Answers.
8 (Game of the year): I have two answers, one biased and one unbiased.
Unbiased - CoD: Modern Warfare (October). I do enjoy a good shooter, and the reimagining of the trilogy that got me into first person shooters was a welcome return to form.
Biased - Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (January). While MW19 was a welcome return to form, AC7 (to me) was analogous to putting on that one hoodie that just feels perfect. Super comfortable, puts you at peace, feels like home. AC7 was that for me. This series of games is my childhood (AC5 is personally my all time favourite game) and 7 just brought back a flood of nostalgia for older titles while also simultaneously challenging me in new ways.
9 (Month of the year): I honestly couldn’t really pick one, as each month kinda had a highlight in each of them. Probably January because that’s when AC7 dropped 😉
19 (2020 excitement): I wanna try and attend the Brisbane airshow in 2020, plus get a lot more involved with gelsoft (think Airsoft for those unaware, but using gel balls instead of plastic BBs).
20 (something I learned): That online friendships can be quite hard to manage but also really rewarding if managed right. I’ve sadly lost a few friendships online this year, either just from drifting apart or differences of opinion. But they’re outweighed by the ones I’ve made and reinforced. Smash, you and the friendships I’ve formed through FYCO/FYR6 are a testament to that.
22 (fav place I visited): I haven’t traveled that much this year, sadly, but I would have to tip my hat (or helmet in this case) to an indoor paintball/gelsoft venue in Brisbane. Played there a number of times and it never gets old.
25: Not so much create but rebuild/refine existing characters that were fairly barebones. But I’ll play those cards close to my chest, heh heh.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
For the proposal’s future development at Northshore, the client can keep the treasure hunt experience for future use when they come up with another project to replace the paintball game. Moreover, the space in the warehouse that we used for the paintball game is removable so it is the client’s choice whether they wanted to take down the walls or keep it. The client can choose the keep the walls, remove the decorations and re-use it for other events such as an instagrammable space for photography or a small concert.
For an iteration of the project concept somewhere in Brisbane beyond the Northshore site and the client brief, I personally recommend King Street. King Street does not hold a historical value so the treasure hunting should be related to the iconic Brisbane Showgrounds. I have been to Ekka two years consecutively and noticed that there are plenty of spaces inside the Brisbane Showgrounds. The signs for the treasure hunt can be scattered around King Street as King Street is a vibrant precinct with a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Visitors not only can take part in an exciting treasure hunting experience but also they can slowly discover King Street and maybe think about a place to dine in after an intense game of paintball. Therefore, King Street is likely to captivate more visitors and enhance its commercial value.

Recommendation
1.In terms of the proposal future development, the clients are able to choose to keep the treasure hunt part for renovation, a process that still led new visitors to the north shore for sightseeing and other activities.Or they can choose to tear down the maze wall at the end of the project and use the decorated warehouse as a venue for future events such as concerts or parties.
2. In order to achieve an iteration of the project concept somewhere in Brisbane beyond the Northshore site and the client brief.I propose James street as another viable site for the project, because even though it is a new business district in Brisbane, there are also many historical sites in its vicinity that are worth exploring and do the treasure hunt, such as St John’s Cathedral. There is also a warehouse which is suitable for the visitors to play paintball games near James street in Robertson street. In the process, visitors can explore James street and play exciting paintball games.James street can also well adapt to the clients brief and promote the number of visitors and its own business value while carrying out the project.

Police warn they might mistake 'gel blasters' for real weapons
By Evelyn Manfield Updated April 16, 2019 22:44:11
Photo: Senior Constable Mick Abbott with one of the toy guns that have been mistaken for real weapons. (ABC News: Evelyn Manfield) South Australian police have warned that anyone brandishing a new kind of toy gun will initially be treated as though they are holding a real firearm by officers called to the scene. Key points:"Gel blasters" are used in skirmish games similar to paintball and have become increasingly popular in recent monthsA man was arrested after posting a picture of himself on Facebook holding a toy gun, saying he was on his way to the local mosqueAssault charges could increased to aggravated assault because of the use of a toy gun "Gel blasters", as Superintendent Steve Howard described them, are used in skirmish games similar to paintball and have become increasingly popular in recent months. Getting hit by a gel ball is less painful than paintball and much cheaper. The balls expand when soaked in water. However, Superintendent Howard, the officer in charge of South Australia Police's Firearms Branch, said the toy rifles could be mistaken for real guns.
Photo: Gel balls expand when soaked in water. (ABC News: Evelyn Manfield) "If the police get called in response to a job where a gel blaster is being used, and we suspect it's a firearm, we'll be treating the person as being armed with a firearm until we can prove to the contrary," he said. Superintendent Howard said in recent weeks there had been a number of incidents in which the toy guns had been mistaken for real weapons. He said one incident earlier this month involved a man posing with the toy on Facebook, alongside offensive comments. The Adelaide man was arrested after posting a picture of himself with what looked like a gun saying he was "on my way to my local mosque". "They're not firearms under the Firearms Act; however, because of their appearance they've caused us some concern and also concern to members of the public," Superintendent Howard said.
Photo: Children use gel blaster during a game in Brisbane. (ABC News: Dea Clark) Double the penalty with toy Superintendent Howard said assault charges could be upgraded to aggravated assault if the accused used the toy. "It would double the penalty," he said. "So if you assaulted someone without a gel blaster, the maximum penalty is two years; with a gel blaster it would be four years." Gel blasters also known as hydro blasters are legal to own in South Australia and Queensland, and Superintendent Howard said police did not want that changed. "Other states have appearance-based firearms legislation, so if something looks like a firearm, it's deemed to be a firearm," he said. Top Things To Do In Caboolture
Top Things To Do In Caboolture Qld
We recently ran into an excellent article online from visitbrisbane.com.au which highlights some of the best things to do in Caboolture and the surrounding Moreton Bay Region. We have personally experienced most of these ourselves and can vouch for them 100%. With our personal favorite being the Woodford Folk Festival. Get out there and experience and live more of your lives.
34 things to do in the Moreton Bay Region
From the salty sea air by the bayside at Redcliffe to the lush rainforest greens of the D’Aguilar range, Moreton Bay Region is an area rich with diversity. Get an adrenaline rush from the air, experience one of its world-class events, explore the environment and more.
Read on to discover 34 things to do in the Moreton Bay Region.
1. Explore D’Aguilar National Park
On the doorstep of Brisbane city, the massive D’Aguilar Range is split in two – South D’Aguilar takes in Mt Coot-tha in Brisbane right up to Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious behind Samford Valley, and the north Mount Mee section is just up the road from Dayboro with plenty of lookouts and swimming holes.
2. Go whale watching
From June to October each year, depart Redcliffe Jetty with Brisbane Whale Watching and see the magical humpback giants in action. Cruise around the bay for four hours, enjoy lunch and commentary from skipper Kerry and her team of experts.
3. Drive over to Bribie Island and explore the beaches
The only Queensland island connected to the mainland by bridge, Bribie Island is easy to access yet feels like a world away. An escape to the island is ideal for nature lovers, water sport enthusiasts and families alike. Discover 20 things to do on Bribie Island here.
4. Get adrenaline pumping at skying diving or adventure flights
If you’ve ever wanted to feel the wind rush through your hair from such a height – then there’s no time like the present. Head up into the air in a tiger moth with the Aero Dynamic Flight Academy or Antique Airways, jump from a plane with Bribie Skydivers, Jump the Beach Brisbane or Skydive Caboolture, glide through the air with Gliding Adventure Flights or Caboolture Gliding Club, and go up in a chopper with Oceanview Helicopters, S & S Aviation or Airwork Helicopters.
5. Boogie down Bee Gees Way
How Deep Is Your Love for the Bee Gees? Did you know the Gibb brothers grew up in the region? You Should Be Dancing your way down this walkway that honors the world-famous pop group, that was officially opened by Barry Gibb in 2015. There are light shows set to music nightly, for that Night Fever.
6. Go for a scenic drive along the coast or through the forests
Follow the coastline from Redcliffe through Deception Bay and Beachmere through to Bribie Island; or head inland through Samford Valley to Woodford. It’s then easy to make your way back to Brisbane via the highway.
7. Play in Pumicestone Passage
The channel runs 35km between Bribie Island and the Caboolture coastline, acting as a protected marine park and safe haven for wildlife. It’s popular with water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers – take a guided kayak tour, wind or kitesurf, go bird watching, pump for yabbies, hire a barbecue boat, float along on the Bribie Island Gondola or simply watch the magic of a sunset over the Glasshouse Mountains.
8. Fly a kite at Pelican Park in Clontarf
Kiteflyers are a regular sight every first and third Sunday of the month, from 12-4pm, at Pelican Park. Take the kids along to watch them soar through the sky.
9. Take the family to Settlement Cove Lagoon
A resort style pool … at zero cost. Come splash about at Settlement Cove – a paradise beside the sea that’s open to the public year-round just off Redcliffe Parade. Make a day of it and pack a picnic or barbecue too.
10. Taste local drops at Ocean View Estates
Head into the hills and experience locally grown and produced wine and craft beer at Ocean View Estates. Drop by the cellar door for a tasting, linger over lunch or even make a weekend of it by staying at the on-site cottages.
11. Reconnect at Woodford Folk Festival
This mammoth annual music and cultural festival is one of the biggest of its type in Australia. Running for six days over the new year, Woodford is a magical award-winning event that features more than 2000 performers and 438 events with local, national and international talent fitting the bill.
12. Wander Scarborough Marina and eat fresh fish at Tempest Seafood
Fresh off the trawler on the Redcliffe Peninsula, head to Morgan’s Seafood for award-winning seafood while sitting among bobbing boats in Scarborough Harbour.
13. Cruise along the Moreton Bay Cycleway
Start the 26km cycleway journey at the Ted Smout Bridge, along the waterfront at Redcliffe, through Scarborough and Rothwell to Deception Bay.
14. Go camping
The question is – coastal or country? Over on Bribie Island the recreation area provides a variety of coastal camping experiences, some accessible by 4WD, others accessible by boat. In D’Aguilar National Park there are a number of campgrounds with facilities, plus remote walk-in only campsites.
15. Check out the bay on two wheels
Don your leather jacket and prepare to feel the wind in your hair on a Harley with Moreton Bay Motorcycle Tours.
16. Challenge your crew to an all-action battle
Want to fight your mates to the death? Okay, maybe that’s a little extreme. How about trying laser skirmish instead – Laser Commando and Mango Hill Skirmish will sort you out, or opt for paintball at the Skirmish Paintball Action Centre or Mango Hill Skirmish.
17. Explore art around the region
Drop into the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery to explore up to four different exhibitions in the public spaces; Dayboro Art Gallery is a community-run space located in the old Plumber’s Shop (circa 1950s); Pine Rivers Art Gallery is a public space that represents local artists in the region with a gallery shop so you can take home a local piece; and Redcliffe Art Gallery focuses on the cultural history of the region.
18. Embrace community fun at Redcliffe Festival
Celebrate the bayside across three massive weekends each August and September with a huge program of free and ticketed events. Keep a keen eye out for the Redcliffe KiteFest, Bee Gees Way Dinner, Scarborough Sounds, JettyFiesta and Redcliffe Remembers events.
19. To market, to market
From farmers’ markets to flea markets and arts and crafts fairs, Moreton Bay Region has a wide range of weekly and monthly markets all around the area. Check out a full list of local markets here.
20. Ride a horse to the pub
Saddle up to Slickers Horse Riding for the ride of a lifetime. Besides the regular style of trail rides around its Ocean View Road property (it’s called Ocean View for a reason), the family business also runs scenic trail rides to the local Crown Hotel pub in Dayboro, or the nearby winery Ocean View Estates. Giddy up!
21. Experience Australia’s largest medieval event
Every July, the Abbey Medieval Festival springs up a village of street performers, craftsmen, banquets, and entertainment. History comes alive before your eyes with jousting tournaments, knighting ceremonies and dance and combat displays. It’s held on the site of the Abbey Museum, an excellent art and archaeology attraction open year-round that covers 500,000 years of human history.
22. Sink beers and oysters at Sandstone Point Hotel
Overlooking Bribie Island, the renovated Sandstone Point Hotel has lush green lawns that roll down to Pumicestone Passage. Pick up a cheeky dozen at the oyster bar and make yourself comfortable for a solid Sunday session. Keep an eye out for boutique music festivals and other big events at the venue.
23. Walk through historic Dayboro
The cute town of Dayboro is home to plenty of historic buildings. This self-guided town walk will take you past 18 sites including the old butter factory, bootmaker and chemist shop.
24. Dine along the waterfront
Local favourite The Rustic Olive serves great pasta and even better dessert, Ceylon Inn does an awesome goat curry, and Chop Chop Sushi is the place to be for super-sized okonomoyaki with a view. Workshop Co is a small gem that does great coffee with a constantly changing breakfast menu, and Preece’s at the Jetty is an institution that does a solid breakfast trade by the water.
25. Stay on the farm
Take the whole family away to Brockhurst Cabins – even the dog. Swim in the spring-fed dam, have a barbecue, take a trail ride, or feed horses from the comfort of your deck.
26. Discover secret swimming holes to cool off in
Rocky Hole
Our favourite is Rocky Hole, a large swimming hole and waterfall in the Mt Mee section of D’Aguilar National Park. Access is recommended for 4WD vehicles only. Nearby, Stony Creek swimming hole and Neurum Creek are other spots to jump in. Closer to Brisbane, the Bunya Crossing Reserve swimming hole, Edward Allison Park at Eatons Hill and Young’s Crossing in Petrie are good spots to cool down.
27. Tee off around the region
The Pacific Harbour 18-hole championship golf course is one of the best in the Greater Brisbane region. Water is the central theme of this Bribie Island course, with it incorporating the wetlands, watercourses and native vegetation to craft a “risk and reward” style par 72 course. Been there done that? Try Caboolture, North Lakes Resort, Bribie Island, Redcliffe, Pine Rivers and Woodford golf clubs.
28. Cruise out and about in Moreton Bay
Explore the aquatic playground that is Moreton Bay with Dolphin Wild Cruises. The boat will take you out from Scarborough Marina to spot dolphins, dugongs, turtles, and whales in the marine park. Add snorkeling to your tour to get up close and personal with the subtropical fish. Further north, Ferryman Cruises offer tours along Pumicestone Passage between Bribie Island and the mainland. These include eco cruises, sunset tours and private charters.
29. Walk across the Ted Smout Bridge
It’s Australia’s longest bridge – stretching 2.7km across Bramble Bay, connecting Sandgate and Brighton with Clontarf and Redcliffe. Walk or ride along the 4.5km pedestrian and cycle path, plus keen fishermen can cast off from the many platforms.
30. Explore the region’s deer farm or walk a llama
Ever wanted to walk a llama? You do now. Dayboro Cottages and Llama Walks offer quiet getaways and llama walks open to the public. Over at Mt Samson, stop into Lyell Deer Sanctuary on weekends to hand feed the deer.
31. Picnic at Lake Samsonvale
Lake Samsonvale (North Pine Dam) was constructed in 1976 and forms part of South East Queensland’s water grid. Take a picnic down to a number of areas, or utilise the on-site public barbecues.
32. Watch and feed pelicans daily at Pelican Park
The volunteers at the Clontarf Visitor Information Centre run a pelican-checking program at 10am every day. It draws a small crowd while they check the wild birds for injuries and feed them fresh fish.
33. Toot toot! All aboard the smallest train around
In Melsa Park on Bribie Island, take the opportunity to ride a miniature steam train on 500m of track. On the third Sunday of every month the train is operating from 10am to 2.30pm for enthusiasts big and small. A ride is just $2.
34. From warplanes to poultry, visit the region’s unique museums
Bribie Island Seaside Museum
Learn about the stories of Bribie and the people who shaped, lived and loved it at the Bribie Island Seaside Museum; discover more about birdwatching, pigeon racing, breeding and bird migration at the Avicultural and Poultry Museum (the only specialist museum of its type in the Southern Hemisphere); and see a fine collection of aircraft and memorabilia at the Caboolture Warplane Museum. Article link: https://www.visitbrisbane.com.au/information/articles/destinations/things-to-do-moreton-bay-region
There is also the Samford District Historical Museum, Old Petrie Town, Durundur Railway, Caboolture Historical Village and the Woodford Community Museum to explore.
We trust you found this article helpful in making your next visit to Caboolture and the Moreton Bay Region one that you will remember for many years to come. The Moreton Bay Region offers a plethora of things to do and see for young and old.

WORKSHOP 1: Concept development: 2/9/2019:
During the workshop, we were asked to randomly choose two pictures from Instagram and tried to incorporate those two pictures in our project. We chose a glow in the dark nail art and a concert picture. That was when we started to think about glow in the dark paintball that had already existed in some places but not in Brisbane. For the concert picture, we used associated thinking to allow the mind to freely “link up ideas, thoughts, observations, sensory input, memory of existing knowledge, and your subconscious, help the brain’s neurons to spark and connect in unique ways” (Reynolds, 2018). We linked concert to music, music to the DJ, the DJ to the bar, and finally to secret bars. Then, we actually found secret bars that required people to enter or to whisper a secret code in order to get in. If we also integrated this idea into our project by requiring a secret code in order to take part in the paintball game, it would contribute to the ‘adrenaline rush’ that research shows are particularly prevalent in teenagers and young adults (Kearney, 2012).
