Paint Protection Film: The Ultimate Guardian for Your Car's Shine
Tumblr media
Imagine this: You’ve just driven your car off the lot. The paint glistens under the sun, and the pristine finish turns heads at every corner. Fast forward a few months, and the reality of road life sets in—rock chips, scratches, and fading paint start to dull that once radiant shine. But what if there was a way to preserve that new-car look? Enter Paint Protection Film (PPF), the game-changing solution for car lovers everywhere.
What is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film, commonly known as PPF or clear bra, is a transparent, robust urethane film designed to protect your vehicle's exterior. Initially developed for military purposes, PPF has been adapted for automotive use to guard against the myriad hazards that can damage your car’s paint.
The Perks of Paint Protection Film
Ultimate Shielding
Physical Barrier: PPF provides a durable shield against rock chips, minor scratches, and road debris, ensuring your car’s paint remains unscathed.
Chemical Defense: It protects against environmental contaminants like bird droppings, tree sap, road salt, and bug splatter, all of which can cause significant damage to your car’s finish.
Self-Healing Technology
One of the most impressive features of modern PPF is its self-healing capability. Minor scratches and swirl marks vanish when exposed to heat, whether from the sun or a heat gun, keeping your car’s surface flawless.
UV Protection
PPF blocks harmful UV rays that can cause paint to fade and oxidize. This ensures your car retains its vibrant color and glossy finish over time.
Aesthetic Enhancement
Beyond protection, PPF enhances your car’s appearance. It adds a high-gloss finish that makes the paint look deeper and more luxurious. For those seeking a unique look, matte PPF options provide a sleek, custom finish.
Long-Term Savings
While the initial investment in PPF can be significant, it ultimately saves money by reducing the need for paint repairs and touch-ups. By preserving your car’s paint, PPF helps maintain its resale value, making it a cost-effective choice in the long run.
Professional Installation vs. DIY: Making the Right Choice
Deciding whether to have PPF professionally installed or to use a DIY kit depends on your budget, skill level, and the results you want to achieve.
Professional Installation
Expertise: Professional installers have the training and experience to apply the film perfectly, without bubbles or imperfections.
Warranty: Many professional services offer warranties, providing peace of mind and guaranteeing the quality of the installation.
Precision: Professionals tailor the film to fit your car’s specific contours, ensuring comprehensive coverage and a seamless finish.
DIY Kits
Affordability: DIY kits are more budget-friendly and can be a rewarding project for those who enjoy working on their cars.
Skill Requirement: Applying PPF yourself requires patience, a steady hand, and attention to detail. Mistakes can be costly, so it’s crucial to follow instructions carefully and be prepared for a challenging task.
Maintaining Your Paint Protection Film
To ensure your PPF stays in top condition, follow these maintenance tips:
Regular Washing: Wash your car regularly with a pH-balanced shampoo to remove dirt and grime.
Use Gentle Products: Stick to non-abrasive, gentle cleaning products to avoid damaging the film.
Avoid Wax: Most PPFs do not require waxing. Some waxes can leave a residue that dulls the film.
Inspect Periodically: Regularly check the film for any signs of damage or lifting edges. Addressing small issues early prevents bigger problems later.
Is Paint Protection Film Worth It?
In a word: Yes. PPF is an investment that pays off by keeping your car looking beautiful and protecting it from daily wear and tear. Whether you drive a luxury sports car, a classic beauty, or your daily commuter, PPF offers unmatched protection and peace of mind.
Final Thoughts
Paint Protection Film Cornelius is more than just a protective layer; it’s a commitment to maintaining your car’s beauty and value. By shielding your vehicle from physical and environmental hazards, PPF ensures that your car remains a source of pride and joy for years to come.
So, if you’re serious about preserving that showroom shine and protecting your investment, Paint Protection Film is the way to go. Drive confidently, knowing your car is shielded from whatever the road throws at it.

You Only Live Twice Ch.8

Eddie Munson x Reader (Eventually)
Back to your regularly scheduled programming- the gang meets Suzie!
Warnings: none :)

previous chapter next chapter
After a final pit stop, Argyle was back behind the wheel. A long discussion with Mike about the importance of thinking plans through had occurred, but ended in him finding Suzie's address in a phone book at the gas station. You were just glad he remembered the girl's last name.
You couldn't help the relief that filled you as you pulled into the long driveway leading up to a lovely home. You were excited to see other people after being cooped up with the boys for hours. As everyone hopped out of the van, your gaze lingered on the house. You trailed behind them, lost in your own thoughts. The image was bittersweet to you; a stately brick fortress that protected its inhabitants. The toys strewn about the yard hinted at the fun the kids who lived there had. It was everything a home should be. It was everything you'd never had. The reminder made it hard to focus on Argyle talking about his butt.
Mike's knock on the door brought you back to reality. It swung open, revealing a short, half naked young boy with a toy bow. He was covered in dirt and possibly paint, you weren't quite sure.
"Oh," Mike seemed surprised, "Hey. Is Suzie here?"
The boy aimed his bow at Mike, releasing an arrow and a battle cry.  The projectile stuck itself right on his forehead, causing him to cry out in pain. The child ran away with a scream.
Mike plucked the arrow off of his forehead, and tossed it to the side as he entered the house. The rest of you followed, only to be met with chaos. Two children dressed as Vikings stood on the dining room table and duked it out in a faux sword fight. You passed by them cautiously as Argyle brought up the rear.
"This is my kinda party," you heard him murmur.
In the next room a girl lay on the floor grasping at her throat.
"I've been bitten," she wheezed, "help! Help!" A boy followed her performance with a video camera, praising her acting. Jonathan interrupted their filming.
"Uh, excuse me," he started. Having not earned the boy's attention he continued, "uh, hey, we're looking for Suzie." The boy stopped rolling and stuck his fist out.
He turned towards Jonathan, "can you... not see... that we're filming?" He asked, dramatically. Jonathan rolled his eyes and starting walking towards another room. The children resumed their work, and you couldn't help but wonder if this was what every normal household was like. The rest of you caught up to Jonathan soon enough.
In the kitchen two children were busy at the stove, chopping away at some vegetables.
"Hi, we're looking for Suzie," Mike tried.
"Don't know, don't care," the girl said simply. She turned towards her brother, "that's too much salt Peter. Father's kidneys, father's kidneys!" You exchanged a look with Will at her words, clearly he found the happenings inside the household strange too.
The lights went out and someone scolded the culprit, "Cornelius!" An older girl came over and righted the electrical board. "How many times do I have to tell you?" She asked. "That is not a toy!" She pushed the boy who answered the door away from the circuit breaker. "Come on." She lead him right through you all, making eye contact with Argyle. The group of you followed her.
She placed the boy in time out, "you make another escape, I'm getting father." He hissed at her in response.
Finally she turned around, "who the hell are you?"
"Argyle," your friend looked at her with heart eyes, "uh, and you are?"
"Eden," she said simply.
"Like the Garden," he whispered.
Jonathan interrupted their romantic moment, "wow! Hey, uh, we're looking for Suzie."
"Do you know where she is?" Will asked over Argyle's shoulder.
"Third floor, second door on your left." Jonathan, Mike, and Will started running towards the stairs with you in tow.
"Thank you," you yelled behind you.
"You see her, you make sure to give that selfish little four-eyed shit a nice little shove for me," Eden replied.
"Absolutely," Argyle said, stumbling over his words. "I will shove her for you, I will do anything for you." You rolled your eyes at his mushy words as you rushed up the stairs.
Jonathan burst through the door to Suzie's room first, finding it empty. "Well, great," he sighed, "she's not here." Mike looked towards the open window.
"Give her a shove," he recalled Eden's words. The five of you all shoved your faces out of the window, looking for the girl. "Suzie," Mike called out when he spotted her. She was adjusting some sort of metal contraption when she turned around.
"Yeah?" Suzie called back. "Who the heck are you?" She didn't recognize your faces. "And what are you doing in my room?"
"Sorry, that's- that's fair," Mike stuttered, apologizing.
"No, listen," Will started, "we're Dustin's friends."
"Yeah!" Mike agreed. "We really need your help." He gave her what he hoped was a sweet smile. She tilted her head and sighed, resigning herself to the situation.
When Suzie came back inside, Mike crafted a hilariously false story about what exactly you all needed her help with.
“Okay, that is a lot to process,” she said. You could only imagine what her reaction would be to the real story. Suzie probably would’ve kicked you all out of her house. “I mean, that might be seriously the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.” You shook your head, suddenly appreciating Mike’s quick thinking and ability to lie on the spot.
“I know,” he said, “it’s hard to believe.”
“But it’s true,” Jonathan insisted, “all true.”
You agreed instantly, nodding your head, “absolutely.”
Suzie looked at the phone number Unknown Hero Agent Man had left you with. The one clue to help you find your sister. “I dial in to this computer and find a location, and at this location is the Nina Project?” She asked.
“Exactly,” Will said, and you nodded in support.
“And the Nina Project is the code name for a video game?” Suzie questioned you all, skeptical.
“Yes,” you said assuredly.
“Well, no,” Mike corrected, “it’s not just a video game. It’s a video game console.”
“It’s basically America’s answer to Nintendo.” Will explained.
“Americantendo,” Argyle suggested.
“Right, that,” you altered your answer.
“That’s a stupid name,” Suzie said.
“It’s not called that,” you tried again, “I’m sure.”
“You’re right, if it was called that it’d be a stupid name,” Mike looked at Argyle with scorn, and gave you a similar face, “but, Suzie, it’s 16-bit.” He said, trying to convince her to lend some assistance.
“Sixteen bit?!” She asked, shocked and impressed. “Why have I never heard of it?”
“Because it’s top secret,” Mike interrupted her confusion.
“That’s why we’re doing this,” Will insisted.
“Yeah, right, it’s for-for the promotion,” Mike took this idea and ran with it, “the first people to find the secret location receive a
”
“Americantendo,” Argyle filled in.
You leaned towards Jonathan and whispered to him quickly. “Wouldn’t it just be easier for me to persuade her?”
He shook his head subtly and whispered back, “let’s give their way a shot.” You sighed but accepted his words, sitting back up in your original spot.
“So you drove 3,000 miles over your spring break so I can help you get a new video game console, no one has ever heard of?” She asked, plainly.
“Yes,” you all chorused in reply. She sighed in disbelief.
“But it’s not for us,” Will tried, “it’s for Dustin.”
“Right,” Mike agreed. “Exactly. It’s for Dustin.” He added on to Will’s idea, “it’s for Dustin’s birthday, actually, which is
 uh”
“In two months, three days, and five hours,” Suzie supplied the answer. She perked up at the mention of her boyfriend.
“Suzie, I don’t know what you’re doing,” Eden burst in, “but I am not spending my entire day babysitting. Pull your damn weight!”
“Language!” Suzie scolded her.
“Oh no,” she replied sarcastically, “am I gonna burn in hell now?”
“Aw you tell her, Eden,” Argyle said quietly. You shot him a questioning look.
“Out of my room!” Suzie insisted, pushing her older sister through the door.
“Oh don’t touch me you little shit,” Eden argued as she left.
“Okay, so can you help?” Will asked, leaning on Suzie’s desk.
“I would do anything for Dustybun,” she started, “but I’m afraid there’s been an unfortunate development.” You let out a sigh, you weren’t sure their way would work after all. “After changing Dusty’s grade, I was wracked with the most awful guilt.” You couldn’t understand why something so simple would upset the girl, you’d done thousands of things worse than that. But you supposed Suzie’s situation was quite different from your own. “Father could see my soul was tortured, and he wrenched a confession out of me.” That part you understood at least, fathers were the worst. “Not only was I breaking the law, I was dating an agnostic. An agnostic!”
You turned towards Will, confused, “is that like
a hypnotist?” You asked him quietly. He shook his head.
“No, uh,” he replied quietly, “I’ll tell you later.” You shrugged gently and tuned back in to Suzie’s story.
“I’ve never seen father so angry,” she said. You got an image of the man who had once called himself your father but shook it quickly out of your head. Now was not the time for those kinds of memories. “Naturally, after learning the terrible truth, he confiscated my computer.” You were saddened by her words, according to the boys Suzie was very skilled with technology and greatly enjoyed using it. It was a shame she was parted from her passion. “And father is not one to change his mind. I’m as likely to see it again as I am my poor Dustybun,” she finished her tale of woe.
“Where is it?” Jonathan asked.
“His study,” she replied sadly, “he uses it for work now, and father’s always working. And his door is, like, permanently locked.” Will let out a huff. “I’m really sorry,” Suzie said, “truly. But it looks like you came all the way here for nothing.” You refused to accept this as the truth. As you went to refute her words the power shut off once again.
“Cornelius!” Eden shouted angrily. The boy shrieked and the lights turned back on.
“Unless
” Suzie said, coming up with an idea.
“Unless?” Mike asked excitedly.
“There might be a way,” she said, “but we’re gonna need help. And I mean a lot of help.” You exchanged a glance with Jonathan at this, and he gave you a small nod. Whatever she was planning would likely need your powers to ensure it went smoothly.
“All right,” Argyle agreed, and soon enough a plan began to form.

Artwork can sell for millions of dollars, so it’s always a newsworthy event when someone discovers a new piece by a famous artist. The vast majority of found art is found in storage units or secure vaults, but in some cases people have found incredible artwork where you’d least expect.
#1 Nazi Artwork In Tiny Apartment In 2012, police discovered a collection of over 1,300 pieces of art in a small Munich apartment. Most of the work had been feared destroyed during Nazi rule in Germany. The collection had belonged to the art dealer Hildebrand Gurlitt, who had used his position on the Nazi Commission for the Exploitation of Degenerate Art to hide away and sell a huge number of paintings. The artwork, most of which appeared to have been acquired legally, was inherited by his son, Cornelius Gurliit. Cornelius hoarded most of the work in his small apartment, only selling pieces when it was financially necessary. Following his death in May of 2014, most of the artwork passed to a museum in Switzerland. Police only made the discovery after Cornelius was found to be in possession of €9,000 on a train. With no apparent income, tax authorities obtained a warrant to investigate his apartment. The artwork came to light during that search.
#2 Painting Found Inside Couch In 2007, a German student in Berlin bought a pullout couch at a flea market. When she unfolded the couch at home she found a small oil painting inside. The painting was a piece called “Preparation to Escape to Egypt” and has an unknown origin, though it is believed that the artist was part of the inner circle of the better known Venetian painter Carlo Saraceni. It was painted at some point between 1605 and 1620 according to the auction house appointed to sell the work. It went on to be purchased in Hamburg by an anonymous bidder for a price of $27,630, making the student 100 times what she originally paid for the couch.
#3 Tamayo Piece In Pile Of Trash A New York resident came across a painting lying in the trash while walking through Manhattan in 2003. Elizabeth Gibson knew nothing about modern art but decided to take the piece home with her. After spending four years trying to find out information about the painting she finally saw a website that listed it as having appeared on Antiques Roadshow. The painting was by Mexican artist Rufino Tamayo, who died in 1991. The piece “Tres Personajes” was painted in 1970 and had previously belonged to an anonymous Houston collector. It was stolen while the collector and his wife were moving and had been lost ever since. Upon learning this, Elizabeth turned it in and it went on to sell for over one million dollars. She received a percentage of the seller fee as well as a $15,000 reward for finding it.
#4 Golden Buddha Found Inside Statue A statue of Buddha dating from the 13th or 14th century was moved around various temples for a number of years before eventually settling at Wat Traimit in Thailand. This temple was not large enough to hold the sculpture so the people in charge chose to leave it outside, where it was protected only by a tin roof. In 1954, the decision was made to house the statue in a newly constructed part of the temple. While moving the statue a rope accidentally snapped and the statue crashed to the floor. Workers discovered that plaster had been chipped off and solid gold could be seen beneath the surface. After carefully removing the rest of the plaster, they found that the statue was in fact made of gold. At some point in the past, the statue had been covered in plaster and painted over. Scholars theorized it was to deter it from being stolen by hiding its value. Over time, people forgot about the gold sculpture underneath the plaster, believing it to be just another ordinary statue.
#5 Jackson Pollock Painting From Thrift Store During the 1990s, retired truck driver Teri Horton entered a thrift store and saw a strange painting. After negotiating the price down from $7 to $5, she took it home intending to give it to a friend as a gift. However, an art teacher happened to notice the painting and its unique style, and believed that it could have been the work of Jackson Pollock. Horton then went on a quest to have the painting authenticated, enlisting the help of forensic experts when auction houses would do nothing to verify it. Matching a partial fingerprint on the painting with some of Pollock’s on his art equipment seemed to prove that it was genuine. Although there is still intense debate over whether it’s authentic, she has since had numerous offers for the painting and it’s currently valued at $50 million by a Toronto gallery.
#6 Movie Poster Found Behind Artwork Laura Stouffer, an art dealer and collector, was looking through the items in a thrift shop when she noticed a print of “Shepard’s Call.” The painting shows a dog who has found a lost lamb in the snow, and was originally painted at some point between 1850 and 1880. She immediately recognized the print and bought it for a relatively low price. Intending to clean the incredibly dusty picture, she took the backing off to discover that between the frame and the print was a poster — an original window card from the 1930 classic film All Quiet on the Western Front, which theaters would have used to advertise showings. Very little memorabilia remains from the film, making the poster more valuable than the print she initially bought.
#7 Abandoned Apartment Contains Rare Painting An apartment that had been abandoned for 70 years was discovered to hold a painting by the artist Giovanni Boldini that eventually sold for $2.5 million. The original owner of the apartment had fled Paris before World War II began, but kept up payments on it despite never returning to it from her new home in the south of France. When she died in 2010, experts had to enter the home to catalog all the items and belongings. While the apartment had a number of expensive items scattered around beneath layers of dust, the painting was what immediately grabbed everyone’s attention. Although they suspected it may have been by Boldini they could find no mention of the painting in any records. However, upon searching the home further they found a note signed by Boldini himself that confirmed the painting was genuine.
#8  Venus de Milo Buried Underground This famous statue was accidentally found when a man from the Greek village of Tripiti came across it. Yorgos Kentrotas found the Venus de Milo buried underneath a field he was working in. With the help of a local farmer, Yorgos was able to dig up the entire sculpture and a number of other statues in a few hours. A French naval officer who was on the island immediately arranged for the statue to be purchased by the French ambassador. It was later presented to King Louis XVIII as a gift, who then donated the statue to the Louvre.
#9 Ancient Statue Used As Bike Rack Two Egyptologists discovered a 2,700-year-old statue of the Pharaoh Taharqa in the basement of a British museum. The statue, a piece of Kushite art, shows the Egyptian king portrayed as a god marching forward in victory. The artwork had been left in the basement of Southampton’s God’s House Tower archaeological museum for over a hundred years. The staff, unaware that the statue was of any value, had been using it as a bike rack. Its importance only became known by chance, when the two Egyptian experts were visiting the museum and noticed it. No one has any idea how anyone could leave such a historic work of art in a basement for so long. However, the statue has since been moved to its own gallery, meaning staff at the museum will have to find something else to rack their bikes on.
#10 Ancient Disc Underneath a City On February 25, 1978, a number of electrical workers were digging up roads in order to begin laying new wiring. After digging for two meters, they eventually hit a large chunk of stone. Careful excavation revealed a giant stone disk that weighed around 20 tons. The disk had a detailed carving that depicted the Aztec goddess Coyolxauhqui. This discovery lead to a search of the whole area for other lost work. After demolishing blocks of apartments, archaeologists began working on digging up the surrounding land and found that it was the site of an ancient Aztec temple that had been destroyed by Spanish colonial forces. The project went on to unearth the remains of the pyramid temple along with a number of skeletal remains and smaller statues and carvings. Most of the findings are now available in the Templo Mayor Museum just 200 yards from where the original disk was found.

Picture perfect for collectors
When it comes to fine art photography, sometimes what you pay for may not be what you get.
Using a camera obscura (a latin term meaning literally ‘dark room’), NicĂ©phore NiĂ©pce produced the first permanent photoetching in 1822, but it was only four years later that the French inventor made the View from the Window at Le Gras, the world’s oldest surviving camera photograph.
Tumblr media
Not long after NiĂ©pce’s death in 1833, Louis Daguerre developed the Daguerreotype, the first commercially successful photographic process which reduced the development time from hours to seconds. An international sensation, the popularisation of this technique gave rise to speculations about the "end of painting".
In that same period, American pioneer of photography Robert Cornelius produced the earliest surviving selfie (1839) and painter and inventor HĂ©rcules Florence had started working out a silver-salt-based paper process in Brazil, later naming it photographie.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, British inventor William Fox Talbot developed a different process called Calotype (from the Greek kalos, meaning ‘beautiful’ and tupos meaning ‘impression’). Using paper sheets covered with silver chloride to create a negative exposure, it was then placed in contact with another paper so as to print multiple positive copies. This technique is actually very similar to the photographic process in use today.
Making a long story short, almost fifty years later, American inventor George Eastman patented the first photographic roll film and perfected his camera to take advantage of his invention. By 1892, Eastman founded Kodak, and soon after launched the Brownie camera with a price of US$1, bringing, therefore, photography to the mass market (‘You press the button, we do the rest!’).
Tumblr media
Since then, the photography market has experienced a growing technological evolution with the establishment of colour film as a standard, auto-focus, and automatic exposure. These innovations undoubtedly made it easier to capture an image, improve the quality of reproductions and accelerate the processing speed.
From the end of the 20th-century, digital photography minimised costs, sped up processes and facilitated the production, manipulation, storage and distribution of images. However, these technological advances also facilitated the production and circulation of forgeries.
With so many artists using photography but so few of them printing their own work, forgeries by underpaid darkroom technicians are a common, especially in the vulnerable contemporary market. How problematic the fine art photography forgery has become can be illustrated by recent scandals involving counterfeit prints by Man Ray, Lewis Hine and Crespy Le Prince.
As the number of copies is virtually limitless with today’s printing capabilities, defining an ‘original photograph’ is of great importance.
Here are some ways to determine the originality of a photographic work: ‱ Original photographs will have provenance information, including its copyright, typically documented on a Certificate of Authenticity. ‱ If the artwork is has a Smart Tag, check its tag number on the Tagsmart online platform. Each Smart Tag has its own unique reference number, linked to the work's secure Certificate of Authenticity and its digital counterpart. Designed to assure the genuineness of artworks, warrant the accuracy of ownership status, and protect buyers and sellers against fakes and forgeries, Tagsmart offers the art market a better, simpler way of doing what it already does, while also solving the problems of trust and credibility. ‱ If the photograph is labelled as a reproduction, it probably means that the photographer had little (or nothing) to do with the printing, distribution, and selling of that work. ‱ Finally, accept that if the photograph is priced very cheaply, it is most likely a reproduction.
