THE HAND THAT FEEDS
prompt : Whumper who keeps Whumpee locked up because "You're dangerous, sweetheart. You're a danger to society. Look at you, you can't even control yourself." And has actually convinced Whumpee of that. Which gives them ample opportunity for punishment. — @whumblr
Adbell dog imagery supremacy 😇
Solevetsky should’ve been in his burial ground, shallow and cold, let the snow sneak into his once warmed body and allow himself to slowly decompose, his body back to nature. But he supposed god had other plans.
He always found himself praying.
Even before Solovetsky, before Adler, when all there seemed to be was a husk of a man — mind blank, running on anger, of a patriotism for a country that was long overdue it’s welcome.
Bell panted, breath coming out sharp, cold exhales that left him shivering — he once took for granted the warmth within the safe house, the plain coffee Lazar always bought. Bell missed it now. He missed takeout, he missed bantering with woods, arm-wrestling with Lazar, philosophizing with Park. Most of all, Bell missed the man he believed Adler was.
The one who’d saved him, stuck by him when nothing else had. They’d returned from Vietnam and kept each other sane throughout the shifts in their lives.
Their bodies entangled beneath the stars, hot breath and shared words of love between them, the promise of marriage if they’d managed to survive — but Bell has always been just some red to him, a no good commie.
And now, here he was.
stuck against a wall, arms tied, some muzzle around his jaw to keep him from lashing out — like some animal. But he felt too weak, too vulnerable to even attempt anything.
His eyes draw up lazily, half-lidded, pupils blown from whatever drugs he’d been sedated with — Adler’s special concoction, just for him, just for Bell. They find themselves on Adler, watching behind his glasses, narrowing down on Bell. “Do you know what those guys back at Langley would do if they saw you like this?” Adler questioned, leaning forward slightly, elbows resting at his knees.
“They’d put you down like the rabid mutt you are.” His voice quieted, so gentle that Bell itched to truly soften, but he held himself back, trying to tune the blonde out. “You’re dangerous, Bell, and deep down, you know it.” Adler spoke, chair groaning as he’d stood, taking steps towards the bound Russian before him, “I’m the only one who can handle you. No one else would even try.”
And bell was angry, because he believed that. Some part of him, the maybe madly-in-love part of him, truly believed that he was a danger to those around him. that he’d snap easy if willed.
Bell had always been too reactive, too emotional, and impulsive. Adler seemed to be the only man who’d ever been so good to him.
“I’ve always liked that fire in you, Bell. It’s what makes you special.” Adler cooed, overtly sweet, sickly like syrup, “But fire, sweetheart—it burns. And if you’re not careful, it’ll consume everything around you. That’s why you need someone like me to keep you in check. You understand, don’t you, Bell?”
Adler cocked his head slightly, taking off his shades for good measures as he’d continued to stare at the other — eyes raking down Bell’s limp, slightly coiled form. Listening to the subtle, and yet heavy breaths taken by the Russian.
His words are only greeted by silence, and Adler’s brows furrow as he glanced down to the tended wound near Bell’s pec, and he strokes the scar as if inspecting it, his tone almost fatherly. "I've got to admit, you've healed up nicely. I wasn't sure you'd pull through, but here you are. Tough as ever."
Though, He suddenly applies pressure, his calm voice cutting through Bell's sharp gasp. "But don't get cocky. Scars have a way of reminding you to stay in line. Consider this my way of keeping you grounded."
Adler finally released the pressure on the wound, leaving Bell panting, his vision blurred with pain and something far worse—fear. “See, Bell? That’s the beauty of this,” Adler murmured, brushing his hand over Bell’s trembling shoulder, his voice smooth, almost affectionate, almost.
“You’ll never forget who holds the leash. Who saved you. Who owns you.” He leaned in closer, his breath warm against Bell’s ear. “You can fight it all you want, sweetheart, but deep down, you know. You’re mine. And nothing—not the pain, not the scars, not even yourself—can change that.” Bell’s heart hammered, a mix of agony and resignation pooling in his chest as Adler pulled back, his shadow looming like the finality of a guillotine.

December Prompts
17) An attic - Cammie x Zach
Zach and Cammie are spending the Christmas after the events of UWS at her Grandparent’s ranch in Nebraska with the rest of her family, and they manage to find a moment of peace away from the adults together. (3,836)
———————————————————————
“We’re not talking about Dubai unless you want to talk about how I saved the day again.”
“Was that before or after you nearly got us caught in the first place?”
“It was certainly after you fucked up your Arabic in front of the Prime Minister, I can tell you that much.”
Zach was losing his mind.
When Cammie had asked him if he wanted to join her and her family at her grandparent’s ranch over Christmas, assuming they weren’t distributed on assignments of course, he had already been nervous. He was a dangerous looking kid who attended a school for troubled boys as far as civilians were concerned, so adults didn’t tend to like him on first meeting. Even the spies in his girlfriend’s family tended to take some time to warm to him, to trust him, to like him, although in fairness those adults knew who his mother was. With only a week away from work, he had worried that Cammie’s grandparents would have him labelled as a troublemaker from the get-go and he wouldn’t have time to persuade them otherwise. Cammie had tried to ease his fears. Had told him that her grandpa would love him as long as he helped out on the ranch, that her grandma would spend the entire week trying to force feed him, that they were kind and loving and very accepting. In the end, it was only the promise that Joe was coming as well, was being dragged to see them for the first time since their son’s funeral, no longer just their son’s best friend but now their daughter-in-law’s new husband, that convinced him to come.
Of course, Zach hadn’t stopped to think about the fact that Townsend would be coming as well.
He should have. Obviously. Him and Abby seemed to be attached at the hip after making up after their most recent fight, and a foot chase with some stray Circle lackeys had left his bad knee in a brace, so it wasn’t a surprise that he had been dragged along to what was apparently her first visit to the ranch since before Matthew Morgan’s first funeral.
It wasn’t all bad. Between Grandma Morgan fawning over the three girls, over college classes and wedding pictures and Abby Darling what happened to your shoulder, and Grandpa Morgan unknowingly pitting the two men against one another when he took them both out into the fields, Cammie’s grandparents didn’t have as much time to interrogate him about his childhood and his family and his plans for the future. In fact, very few invasive questions had been asked at all, and none had been asked about his parents. Someone, either Cammie or Mrs Morgan, had obviously pre-warned the couple about the complicated relationship between Townsend and Zach, as neither of them gave a second thought to their physical similarities or the lingering awkwardness or the way Abby and Cammie kept trying to push them to talk to one another.
That was the problem. The awkwardness.
Even though Townsend had been making painful efforts with him, explaining himself and his relationship with Catherine when she had revealed the truth, stiffly asking questions about his likes and interests in the months after they had found out, going out of his way to look out for him and Cammie both when they started at Langley, the entire situation was still awkward. He didn’t ask for a father, had stopped asking for one a long time ago, and clearly Townsend hadn’t been looking for a son. Plus there was the Cammie/Abby issue making everything slightly more complicated. And the Joe issue. And the Catherine issue. And the… well there were just a lot of issues.
Of course, when Townsend wasn’t bumbling through another uncomfortable attempt at bonding with him, or endearing himself to Grandma Morgan by bonding with Cammie, or suffering through a joint interrogation by Grandpa Morgan and Mrs Morgan, he was doing what he did best. Bickering with Abby.
“My Arabic was flawless-”
“So flawless he tipped off the presidential guard?”
“There was no indication that that was him Abigail, besides-”
Zach was losing his mind.
From across the room, he managed to catch Mrs Morgan’s gaze from where she leaned against her dozing husband, the exasperated glare on her face betrayed by the amusement twinkling in her eyes. She rolled them at him anyway, drawing a small quirk of lips out of him.
“If you seriously suggest that the guards made us because of my table etiquette again, I’m gonna lose it.”
“This is you not losing it?”
It was just the five of them in the room, Grandma Morgan out at an evening pottery class while her husband had gone across the road to bring their neighbours some of their chicken’s eggs. Cammie had disappeared some some ago, which would’ve made him panic had both entrances to the ranch house not been within his eyeline, had the open plan layout not given them visuals on all four exterior angles of the building, had she not promised to stay inside. That left him with the man who was his father, seated uncomfortably on the couch with his girlfriend’s feet in his lap, said girlfriend who was also his own girlfriend’s aunt, and his girlfriend’s mother and stepfather. Talk about awkward.
“You know what Ed? At least I can speak Romanian without my accent slipping through.”
And of course they wouldn’t stop arguing.
“That was one time, and it was years ago!”
Zach was losing his mind.
Thankfully, Mrs Morgan seemed to take pity on him, gesturing to the stairs with her eyes and giving him a slight nod when he raised his eyebrows in question. Truthfully he had wanted to track Cammie down for the past 20 minutes, but he felt a bit bad leaving Mrs Morgan alone with the bickering pair, Joe being no help having fallen asleep over an hour ago. Grateful for the permitted reprieve, he slipped out of his own chair and made his way up the carpeted steps, smirking to himself when he heard the woman who granted it to him begin to tease her sister about an assignment in Bahrain where her own cover momentarily slipped. Townsend had just laughed in response, the two of them seemingly working together to wind Abby up when Zach reached the top of the stairs, the noise from below fading into the background.
Once at the top of the stairs he took a cursory look around, assessed the empty bathroom and the guest room opposite, his room, devoid of life. At one end of the end of the hallway, the room shared by Cammie’s grandparents looked undisturbed, the door still propped ajar by Grandpa Morgan’s jacket caught in the hinges as it was this morning, and the at other end, the room currently shared by Townsend and Abby looked similarly untouched. If he stood on his tiptoes, Zach could just make out the gleam of a dime propped against the top of the door, positioned to fall on the metal handle and make a clang Zach didn’t doubt any agent in the vicinity would react to should someone other than the intended couple open the door. Adjacent to their room, the room Zach was sure used to belong to Mr Morgan by the speed at which Mrs Morgan relinquished it to her sister, her and Joe opting to stay in the den downstairs instead, was Cammie’s. Though the door was wide open, Zach kept his distance, certain he’d face the wrath of someone in this house if he was caught in her bedroom, though he wasn’t entirely sure who would be the most mad. She wasn’t in there anyway. It was too quiet.
That left the attic.
Zach looked up, eyeing the overhead hatch and assessing its placement. It did look slightly misaligned compared to earlier this morning. Taking the access pole, he slowly and quietly slid the hatch open, pulling down the contained ladder and climbing up, sealing up the entrance behind him as he crept into the dim space.
There she was.
Dirty blonde hair still pulled back in the braid Abby had worked on this morning, dust smearing her her prominent cheekbones, rosy cheeks gleaming at him, she seemed to glow in the dim yellow light of the attic. Her feet were wrapped up in the fluffiest socks Zach had ever seen, her torso adorned with one of her father’s checkered shirts layered over one of her stepfather’s sweatshirts. She sat curled up in the corner against a stack of cardboard boxes, the shadows cast by the towers of storage around her obscuring her features from him, a pile of albums to her left and an open book propped up on her lap. Disturbed by his entrance, she looked up towards him as he crawled past old TVs and suitcases to get to her, shooting him a warm smile as he perched himself at her side.
“Ah, you found me.”
He’ll always find her. He’ll never stop looking.
But he didn’t want to bring down the pleasant mood, to chill the soft warmth glowing in his chest, so he just smirked at her. “You’re getting sloppy Gallagher Girl.” She shot him a grin and an eye roll for that, eyes lighting up slightly at the fond nickname. Something thick built up in his throat, in his lungs, in his heart. Something that might be love.
No. It was definitely love.
“Are they still fighting?”
“Like an uptight cat and a stubborn dog.”
“Cats and dogs have nothing on those two.” Chuckling as she knocked her shoulder into his, he wrapped an arm around her and drew them close together, sighing in contentment as she laid her head on his shoulder. “Sorry I disappeared.”
The words were heavier than they needed to be. Both of them silently acknowledging that she had a history of disappearing, of scaring him, of scaring them all. The memories of that summer clogged in his throat, choking him, suffocating him. Pushing through it, he pressed a kiss to her forehead in forgiveness, reaching out for the book, a photo album, sat in her lap.
“Your parents?” She hummed in confirmation and nodded against his shoulder, angling the album towards him so he could get a better look.
An unknown version of Mrs Morgan looked back at him from the photo album, dark hair framing a younger face, expression light with joy and love and youth. Adorned in a white silken dress, she didn’t look that different to the woman Zach remembered from the summer just passed, though the man standing beside her was markedly so. Joe was tall, not quite as tall as Townsend but enough that he was nearly a full head taller than his wife. On the other hand, Mr and Mrs Morgan stood at roughly the same height in these pictures, though Zach was sure she was wearing heels. His hair was lighter than Joe’s, his skin more tanned, his body slimmer where Joe’s was lean. Rather than a subtle smirk, his face was plastered with a wide, crooked grin, eye’s alight with warmth where Joe’s were deep and contemplative. The biggest similarity between the two was how they looked at the woman pictured next to them, loving and trusting and astonished. Zach wondered if he looked that lovestruck looking at that woman’s daughter.
Cammie’s voice broke him out of his musings. “All of Grandma’s wedding questions got me thinking about Mom and Dad’s. Thought I’d hunt down the photo albums while Luke and Lorelai get into it downstairs.”
“Who?”
She blinked up at him. “You’ve never watched- Never mind, we’ll add it to the list.”
Once the Circle had been taken down, the couple could finally spend some time together outside of the Academy without looking over their shoulders every five minutes, without one of them disappearing in a mysterious puff of smoke, without fearing that Zach’s mother could capture or kill them any moment. In doing so, Cammie discovered that his childhood wasn’t just devoid of a father, a normal mother-son relationship, friends his own age, but he also didn’t get the opportunity to watch much TV, Catherine usually picking them up and moving them across the world before they could think to set up an aerial. Every time Zach didn’t catch a reference one of the girls, usually Macey, made, Cammie made a note of the relevant context he was missing and tried to set aside time for the two of them to watch it together.
Last weekend they had watched Mean Girls.
Zach turned to watch his girlfriend’s face as she continued flicking through the album. How her eyes got misty at every picture of her parents, how her smile stretched out her face when she found pictures with Joe lurking in the background, how her laugh brought light the the otherwise gloomy attic when she turned the page to find a picture of her aunt jumping on her father’s back. At a picture of Mr Morgan with his parents, she hesitated, her finger running across her grandparent’s faces, the grief and pain of the last few years absent in the memories of their younger selves.
“At dad’s funeral, the first one I mean, Grandma was completely out of it. She hugged me once then stopped acknowledging I was there. Stopped acknowledging anyone. Grandpa kept crying. He was trying not to, was trying to be strong for Grandma and I, Mom too, but he just kept crying. They lost their child…” Her words failed her, trailing off into the silence and darkness surrounding them. Biting her lip, she appeared deep in thought, eyes a million miles away.
It only took a moment for his memories of last summer to come flooding back, Mrs Morgan’s blank expression haunting him. The way her voice cracked around Cammie’s name and she seemed to shake where she stood. The way her feet seemed to carry her in the direction of her daughter’s room before remembering, stalling, stumbling in place. The way he caught her hunched over Joe in the hospital wing, weeping into her knees with his fingers clutched in one hand, the goodbye Cammie left them in the other.
Looking at his girlfriend’s face, it wasn’t hard to tell that her mind had jumped to the same thoughts.
“Your mom hasn’t lost you Cam, you’re fine.”
Shaking her head, she smiled at him, the pain of agonising over whatever distress she caused her mom still present in her eyes. “How do you do that? How do you always know what I’m thinking.”
I don’t.
If he did, he never would’ve left her alone that summer, never would’ve left her to run off without him. If he did, he would’ve been brave enough to ask her out properly long before he actually managed to. If he did, he wouldn’t spend half his time worrying that she finally realised she was too good for him.
Still, it was nice to know that Cammie thought he could read her mind.
Smirking at her, he just pointed to himself with the arm not wrapped around her. “Spy.” Cammie laughed, throwing her head back in glee. He loved her laugh, loved that despite everything she had gone through, everything his own mother put her through, she still found the strength to laugh so freely. In awe of the woman before him, he moved closer towards her, leant his forehead against hers, pressed his lips to hers and whispered softly against them. “I know you Gallagher Girl.”
She smiled, rubbed her nose against his before moving away. Turning the page agin, she traced the image of her parents trapped in a world before she existed. “It’s a wonder spies have kids at all, knowing they could follow in their footsteps, knowing they could lose them like that. Really makes you think…” Her voice trailed off again, eyes staring deep into his.
Suddenly he remembered their conversation in the moment after he learned Townsend was his father. How he told her he didn’t want kids, wouldn’t want to mess them up like his mother did him. He meant it at the time. He thinks he still means it now. He’s only 18, but he can’t imagine ever knowing anything about being a dad, can’t imagine ever having someone to learn it from, can’t imagine ever risking fucking it all up. Still, looking at Cammie now, how beautiful she looked covered in dust and half concealed by darkness, hiding amongst memories that weren’t hers and ruminating on a future that might be, he couldn’t help but wonder if maybe one day he might change his mind.
Blinking the thoughts away, he instead shot her a self-deprecating gin, tilted his head into the hand that cupped his cheek. “Reckon my parents would disagree.”
Cammie shook her head at him, ignored the existence of his mother and focussed on the on parent they both kind of liked. “You and Townsend have been getting along!” Thumb soothing up and down his face, she leant forward again and pressed their foreheads together, whispering softly. “He cares about you Zach, really. He’s a good guy.”
Zach just shrugged. “It’s still not the same.”
Sure, Townsend was a decent guy. Zach knew now that he didn’t know Zach was his for the first 18 years of his life, knew that he would’ve done something about it if he had. And he guesses the man cares about him, as much as he seemed to care about anyone that wasn’t Abby at least. But it still wasn’t the same, the man was never going to love him the way Cammie’s parents loved her. Zach was never going to get that.
Looking back down at the photo album, he studied the pictures of her parents again.
“You look a lot like him.” She blinked at him, casting her gaze briefly back to the photo album before looking back at him. Her eyes looked misty again. “Both of them actually, but more him.”
Sniffling, Cammie just shrugged, tone mimicking his self-deprecation from earlier. “Not having as many of the Cameron genes certainly helps the whole Chameleon thing.”
Zach knew she thought of herself as plain, as average, as indistinguishable. Knew she felt unremarkable compared to her mother’s side of the family. He thought it was ridiculous. From the moment he met her he knew she’d be the face he remembered for the rest of time. She was the most stunning person he knew. It amazed him that she couldn’t see that.
Running a finger down her cheek, cupping it in his hand, his other arm moving to wrap around her waist, pulling her body into his, he dropped his voice to a whisper. “You always stick out in a crowd to me Gallagher Girl.”
And he kissed her.
Immediately intoxicated by the taste of her, he groaned into her mouth even as he felt her smile against him. They moved together in rhythm, pushing and pulling at one another in a familiar dance of passion. His hand ran from her face to her hair, dislodging the braid that it sat in and running his fingers through the waves of it, nails scratching against her scalp as her own fingers began tickling across his chest. Breaking apart briefly for air, he smirked at her, closing in again to nibble slightly at her lower lip, the breathy whimper that he was met with making his toes curl. Zach was desperate for her. He was just about to lean her backwards to the floor of the attic, press his body on top of hers so he could feel every inch of her when-
“Cameron Ann Morgan! If you and your boyfriend aren’t down here in 5 minutes I’m going to assume you’re doing something inappropriate in the family home and come up there with the intention of removing his skull from his body.”
They sprung apart at the resounding boom of Abby’s voice coming from directly below them, Cammie giggling silently against his lips as he gaped in mock outrage.
Remove my skull from my body? He mouthed at her.
At least it’s just your skull? She mouthed in return.
Winking at her, he grinned and moved his lips silently again, heart filled with light. I knew I was growing on her.
Mrs Morgan’s voice sounded from even further below, what sounded like another floor separating the two sisters. “Abby I told you to go get them not to threaten them!”
“I only threatened one of them! Besides, I’m doing you a favour Rach, trust me.” Voice switching from defensive and amused as she addressed her sister to firm yet teasing as she yelled up at them, Abby rapped her knuckles against the wall as she continued. “Now quit making eyes at each other and get down here squirt, your mom’s too uptight to be a grandmother before she’s 50!”
“Hey!”
Cammie shook her head at him, giggling as he tried to dejectedly lay his head against her shoulder, tried to hide the flush that crept its way up his face. A matching red hue had taken over her cheeks and her neck as she pushed him off her and made her way to the hatch of the attic, poking her head out to speak to her aunt.
“You realise I currently share a wall with you and Townsend right? Talk about inappropriate.”
“Ew Cam. Seriously?” Zach muttered under his breath. He may not think of the guy as his dad, but he also didn’t need to be thinking of him like that.
“Get down here Kiddo, before your aunt gives Townsend a stroke with all the baby talk.”
Cammie swung her legs out of the attic in response to her mom’s voice, a steadying hand reaching up to help her before she turned back to Zach. “You coming?”
“Be with you in a second.”
Studying him for a moment before nodding in ascent, Cammie left him to it.
In the dark silence that remained, he took a deep breath. All at once, he remembered another attic, darker and colder somehow, where instead of photo albums and memories of a good man, it held only weapons and files and tools and misery. He remembered the loneliness that lived in his veins when that attic sat above him, how there wasn’t a room he walked into where he didn’t feel scared and small. He thought about the people in the house below him. The man who was trying to be his father and the man who taught him how to be a man. The woman who had gone out on a limb to trust him and the woman who had gone out on a limb to keep him safe. He thought about the girl who brought him to life, who erased any trace of loneliness from his blood, any sense of cold from his life.
He smiled.

Authors note:
A little late but the longest instalment yet! Mostly Zammie, as per @gildengirl and @bryn-not-brynn’s request, but also a healthy dose of Zach ruminating on the weird little family situation he’s found himself in.

How Kinesiology Can Help with Pain Relief in Langley
Tumblr media
Pain is a common struggle for many people, affecting everything from our daily activities to our overall quality of life. Whether it's chronic pain from long-term conditions or acute pain from an injury, finding effective solutions is crucial. In Langley, kinesiology has emerged as a powerful method for pain relief, offering holistic treatment options that address the root cause of discomfort, rather than just masking the symptoms.
What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement. It combines elements of biomechanics, anatomy, and physiology to assess and treat various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. Kinesiologists use a range of techniques to help alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall physical function.
In Langley, kinesiology practitioners work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate a mix of manual therapy, exercise, and other therapeutic methods. The goal is to reduce pain, promote healing, and prevent future injuries. It’s a holistic approach that focuses on the body's natural healing processes and the improvement of overall physical health.
How Does Kinesiology Work for Pain Relief?
Kinesiology is effective in treating pain by addressing the underlying issues that may be causing discomfort. For example, it can help identify muscle imbalances, joint dysfunctions, poor posture, and movement patterns that contribute to pain. By analyzing these factors, a kinesiologist can create a treatment plan designed to correct these imbalances and promote long-term relief.
One of the most common treatments in kinesiology is muscle testing. This technique involves assessing muscle strength and response to pressure to identify areas of weakness or tension. Once the weak points are identified, the kinesiologist will target these areas with specific exercises, stretches, and therapies to improve strength, flexibility, and alignment. Over time, this helps to relieve the pressure on joints and tissues, reducing pain and discomfort.
The Role of Kinesiology in Injury Recovery
Injury recovery is another area where kinesiology shines. Whether it's a sports injury, an accident, or a workplace injury, kinesiology in Langley can play a significant role in helping individuals regain full function. By working on the affected area, a kinesiologist can promote faster healing and prevent the injury from becoming a chronic issue.
Through various techniques, such as rehabilitative exercises, manual therapy, and stretching programs, kinesiology can address muscle stiffness, improve blood circulation, and restore joint mobility. This can not only relieve pain but also prevent future injuries by teaching clients how to move more efficiently and safely.
Kinesiology for Chronic Pain Management
For those who suffer from chronic pain conditions, kinesiology can offer substantial relief. Chronic pain often stems from long-term imbalances in the body, and kinesiology seeks to identify and correct these imbalances to alleviate pain. Whether it's fibromyalgia, arthritis, or repetitive strain injuries, a kinesiologist can create a tailored treatment plan to reduce discomfort and improve quality of life.
A key aspect of chronic pain management is movement retraining. Many people with chronic pain tend to move in ways that exacerbate their condition, whether it's avoiding certain movements or overcompensating in others. Kinesiologists help retrain the body to move correctly, which reduces strain on muscles and joints, promoting long-term pain relief.
Kinesiology in Langley: A Local Solution for Pain Relief
Langley is home to several dedicated kinesiology clinics, each offering unique treatments designed to relieve pain and improve overall health. One such clinic is Realign Chiro Physio & Rehab, a trusted partner in pain management for Langley residents. At Realign Chiro Physio & Rehab, experienced kinesiologists work closely with clients to assess their conditions, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide ongoing support throughout the healing process.
Their approach combines a range of therapies, including kinesiology, chiropractic care, and physiotherapy, to address pain from multiple angles. By incorporating kinesiology techniques into their treatment plans, Realign Chiro Physio & Rehab ensures that clients receive comprehensive care aimed at both immediate pain relief and long-term injury prevention.
Kinesiology for Postural Correction and Pain Prevention
Posture plays a significant role in the development of musculoskeletal pain. Poor posture, whether caused by sitting for long periods, improper lifting techniques, or even the way we sleep, can lead to chronic pain in the neck, back, and joints. Kinesiology in Langley can help identify postural issues and develop a plan to correct them, preventing pain before it starts.
Kinesiologists use a variety of techniques to improve posture, including exercises to strengthen the muscles that support the spine and joints, along with stretches to improve flexibility and reduce tension. By working with a kinesiologist, individuals can learn how to move more efficiently, which helps to maintain better posture throughout the day.
How Kinesiology Supports Overall Health and Well-Being
While kinesiology is primarily known for pain relief, it also contributes to overall health and wellness. By improving movement patterns, increasing strength and flexibility, and addressing muscle imbalances, kinesiology promotes a healthier, more active lifestyle. Regular kinesiology sessions can lead to better physical performance, improved mobility, and a reduced risk of injury.
Moreover, kinesiology can have a positive impact on mental health. Physical discomfort and pain can often lead to stress, anxiety, and even depression. By reducing pain and improving movement, kinesiology helps alleviate these emotional burdens, allowing individuals to feel more positive and in control of their bodies.
Why Choose Kinesiology in Langley?
Choosing kinesiology in Langley means opting for a personalized, holistic approach to pain relief. Unlike traditional treatments that may only address symptoms, kinesiology focuses on treating the root causes of pain, providing lasting relief and improved overall health. Whether you are recovering from an injury, dealing with chronic pain, or simply looking to improve your mobility and function, kinesiology offers a safe, effective solution. With its focus on movement, balance, and overall health, kinesiology can help you regain your quality of life, pain-free.

Lily goes south - Day 2
Monday, 12th August 2024
Wind SE 17mph                Very hot day, clear sky                                      Temp 32°C
Total distance sailed 28.20 miles
Alarm went off at 0600. We got up and dressed as we drank our early morning tea/coffee and prepared the boat - cover off, roof down, boom down, medium crutches, jib down and, finally, mast down. Departed our mooring 0710. Uneventful passage down the Bure against a strong SE wind. Through the three bridges and on to Breydon Water. Raised the mast. We were so glad that we had tied a reef in yesterday as the win was now gusting into the high 30mph.
Hoisted our reefed main and unfurled the jib and simply rocketed across Breydon. There were moments when we just clung on to the sheets for dear life. Reaching the confluence, we turned up the Yare. Evergreen and Pippinjack had stopped at the Berney Arms to raise their masts and have coffee but we decided to keep going as it was just such fantastic sailing. The wind was too good to stop and the thought of dropping our sail again just did not appeal.
Wonderful sail up the Yare with Reedham swing bridge open for us and Reedham Ferry busy loading. We dropped sail shortly before Langley Dyke and motored on to our pre-booked mooring. We were moored up less than two hours after reaching Breydon bridge. Lunch in the shade of the trees. The others arrived mid-afternoon and the rest of the afternoon and evening was spent socialising and barbecuing.
Two misfortunes occurred today. My back relapsed. After a summer of perfectly normal activity I awoke to bad back pain. This worsened throughout the day and I only coped with regular doses of Paracetamol. The second problem was an engine rattle. This started, or we first became aware of it, halfway down the Bure. We could not trace the cause but David, from Evergreen traced it to the engine plate where a bolt was loose. He tried to tighten it but could not. He then found another bolt under the engine. This had sheered off. This had come from the front of the plate. Jimmy arrived to join us for the BBQ and brought more tools with him. We still couldn’t access the central bolt but managed to get a nut and bolt in at the front. We hope that this holds until our return.

The Science Behind Physiotherapy: Understanding How It Works
Tumblr media
Feeling a nagging pain in your shoulder? Struggling with limited mobility after an injury? Physiotherapy might be the answer you’re seeking. But how exactly does it work? While the benefits of physiotherapy are widely recognized, the “science behind the magic” is often less understood. Here at Divinecare Physiotherapy in Langley, we want to demystify the process and empower you with knowledge.
Understanding the Body’s Natural Healing:
Physiotherapy works by harnessing the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. Physiotherapists utilize various techniques to:
Reduce pain and inflammation: Techniques like manual therapy, electrical stimulation, and therapeutic ultrasound can help alleviate pain and promote healing.
Improve mobility and flexibility: Through targeted exercises and stretches, physiotherapists can help you regain lost range of motion and improve flexibility.
Strengthen muscles: Specific exercises designed to address muscle weakness can improve stability, support, and overall function.
Educate and empower: Physiotherapists play a crucial role in educating patients about their condition, providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to manage their health and prevent future injuries.
The Science in Action: Different Techniques, Unified Goal
Physiotherapy encompasses a wide range of evidence-based techniques, each with its unique scientific underpinnings:
Manual therapy: This hands-on approach utilizes massage, joint mobilization, and other techniques to manipulate soft tissues and improve joint function. Scientific studies have shown its effectiveness in reducing pain, improving flexibility, and promoting tissue healing.
Therapeutic exercise: Tailored exercise programs prescribed by physiotherapists target specific muscle groups and joints to improve strength, flexibility, and balance. Research has consistently demonstrated the effectiveness of exercise in pain management, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.
Acupuncture: While the exact mechanism of action remains debated, research suggests acupuncture can stimulate the nervous system, releasing pain-relieving chemicals and promoting tissue healing.
Divinecare Physio: Your Partner in Healing
At Divinecare Physio in Langley, our team of experienced physiotherapists utilizes a comprehensive approach, combining various techniques to create personalized treatment plans. We believe in empowering our patients through education and providing them with the tools they need to achieve their optimal health and well-being.

December Prompts
2) A broken teapot - Zach & Townsend
A year and a half after the events of UWS, Zach joins Townsend (and Abby) for Christmas at his parent’s house back in England. (3,241)
———————————————————————
Zach wanted to go home.
He had been here for almost a week now, here being the Townsend family home in some rundown town on the outskirts of London, and he had had enough. Enough of the country and their stupid beige food only, drive on the wrong side of the road, overly polite yet passive aggressive tendencies. Enough of the old house and how it didn’t keep in any heat, nor block any noise passing between rooms, how the walls were littered with loving pictures of the family throughout the years, how there were scratches on the doorjamb marking height marks for all 3 of the Townsend children. Enough of the family, his grandparents with their cheerful overfamiliarity, of his asshole of an uncle and overly judgey aunt, of the little kids who kept following him around and calling him cousin.
Enough of his so-called fucking father who invited him to this godforsaken place.
In fact the only person he could still stand in this place was Abby, and that was largely she kept slipping him sips of her stronger drinks in the evenings.
He wanted to see Cammie, to spend his days badgering her at work and his evenings curled up with her in the apartment she shared with Liz. He wanted to go to the gym with Bex, who was visiting the girls back in the states, and Grant, unload his frustrations by pummelling a sandbag rather than grinding his teeth to fangs. He wanted to sit with Joe on his deck, in the company of a man who he understood, who understood him, who would let him simmer in his silence as long as he liked.
He wanted to go home.
Instead he was due to stay another week, flying back with Townsend and Abby on the 27th in order to celebrate the new year with their family before they all disperse back to the Academy or College or Langley. Zach wasn’t certain he was going to survive the week.
It had all started a month ago when, over another awkward attempt at bonding encouraged by various women in their lives, Townsend asked Zach if he wanted to come to England with him and Abby this Christmas to meet the rest of his illustrious blood relatives. It wasn’t the first invitation of its kind. Last year, Christmas Day was spent at Cammie’s grandparent’s ranch in Nebraska, him and Townsend meeting the pair for the first time and Joe and Abby being welcomed back with open arms after years of avoiding Matthew Morgan’s parents. For new years day however, Townsend travelled home to see his own family, Abby in tow. Zach had been invited, but even Cammie conceded that the offer sounded forced and was likely only extended through a mix of politeness and Abby’s cajoling. As it turned out, this was for the best, as he heard from Cammie, who heard from Mrs Morgan, who heard from Abby, that Townsend had used the holiday to explain the whole I have an adult son I never knew about situation, and the fact that he was now permanently moving to the States. It hadn’t gone down brilliantly.
Since then, Zach and his father had bonded more, got closer. They were’t buddy-buddy or anything; it's not like Zach was running around calling him Dad, but the time spent together at work, with the Cameron-Morgan-Solomon family, and on trips out that Townsend awkwardly invited him on, had meant that they got on alright these days. Hence, since he managed to get out of Istanbul in time to celebrate thanksgiving with Cam and her family, he figured he’d finally bite the bullet and meet his father’s family.
He flew straight in from an op in Peru, exhausted from long nights of surveillance on a man suspected to be involved in a trafficking ring, frustrated from his orders not to intervene and the dressing down he know he’ll get when Agent Loxley finds out he did, and in pain from the bruised and broken ribs now lining his right side. Almost immediately upon leaving the airport, he was nearly knocked over as he headed towards the car that Townsend and Abby were waiting for him in.
“Watch out kid, the maniacs drive on the wrong side of the road here.”
“She was on the right side Abigail-“
“She was actively not driving on the right side.”
“-the correct side, it’s much more logical to drive on the left.”
“Then why is it only you lot and like, 5 other countries-”
“A third of the worlds population actually.”
“-Oh please that’s just because of India. And a third is still less than 2 thirds.”
“Wow, you should be a mathematician.”
Zach tried to tune out their bickering lest it worsen the headache he could feel building behind his eyes, tried not to listen to Abby’s airy laugh lest it reminded him of Cammie’s and worsen the ache he felt in his chest for her, tried not to look at the lovestruck expression his father wore lest he start remembering that he would never quite love his son that much.
After dozing off in the car, he woke up when they pulled up in front of a modest-looking stone building with two doors, a small fence separating the yard leading up to them. Townsend parked the car on the street and leapt out to grab Zach’s bags from the trunk, while the man in question to a deep breath, steadying himself.
Abby managed to catch his eyes in the mirror. “Their names are Bill and Heather by the way.” With that she threw him a small wink before stepping out the car herself, deliberately waiting until Townsend was about to open it for her, just to piss him off.
Before they had even reached the entrance to the Townsend semi-detached house, the door was thrown open by an older woman with white hair and a bright smile. She had Townsend’s eyes, though none of his imposing height, needing to reach upwards in her quest to grasp Zach by the cheeks.
“Oh look at you! You look just like your father, doesn't he look just like you Eddie?”
Eddie?
Townsends cheeks flamed slightly, clearing his throat while Abby huffed out a laugh behind them. “Mum this is Zach, Zach this is-“
“You can call me Nana, honey, or Grandma, whichever you prefer.” He caught Abby’s eyes as she stepped around them, Heather is fine, she mouthed at him. “Now come inside before you freeze, I’ll introduce you to everyone.”
If he hadn’t spotted the similarities in their appearance, hadn’t known coming into this that this woman was Townsend’s mother, he never would’ve guessed. The smile gracing her face was large and seemed to be permanently tattooed there, a stark contrast to her son’s serious and controlled demeanour. Warmth sept from her pores, honey dripped from her words, the welcoming scent of pine followed her around as she ushered him into the hallway. Her hands, weathered and wrinkled by age but soft and gentle, didn’t stray from his face, his arms, his shoulders, the entire time they walked, fluttering around him as though desperate to give him a hug but holding back. Zach could count on one hand the number of times Townsend had initiated such contact with him.
“Everybody, this is Zach,” she announced ceremoniously to a small sitting room filled to the brim with people, hands pushing him forward to present him to the gathering. “Honey this is you grandpa,” an elderly gentleman, tall like Townsend but wiry and frail, leant forward to vigorously shake his hand, “and your aunt Trisha.” The plump woman with bleach blonde hair lurking in the corner clearly tried to smile at him, but it spread across her face in more of a sneer. “Her husband is Mike,” the similarly plump man with an unshaven beard and a fully shaven head gave him a polite nod, “and Tony over there is your uncle, my youngest.” Tony bore the strongest physical resemblance to Townsend of the bunch, though he was clearly about a decade younger, and carried himself in a much less serious manner, dressed in a bright Hawaiian shirt and beer in hand. “Then these are your cousins, Janie, Tommy, and-“
“Abby!” - “Oof”
A small blur dashed past them and catapulted itself into Abby’s arms, legs tangled around her waist and head ducked under chin.
“That’s Mika, she’s very fond of your st- I mean of Abby.” Heather either didn’t notice the way all three of them tensed slightly at her near slip, or very valiantly ignored it. “Now come in, come in, make yourself at home. Eddie will put your bags away, you’re staying in his old room. It's the smallest in the house but he thought that was better than staying in the playroom with the kids. Poor Tony is on the sofa in the office, we only have four bedrooms so it’s hard to squeeze everyone in, but we’ll manage! Now sit, sit, I’ll fetch you a drink.”
“I’ll do that Heather, you take a seat. Coffee Zach?” He nodded at Abby, watching as she made her way into the kitchen, Mika still hanging from her neck like a limpet. “Does anyone else want anything?” A number of requests were thrown her way, and Tony didn’t hesitate in leaping up to give her a hand, a smirk dancing across his face that soured Zach’s feelings towards him quickly.
Taking a seat on the couch, Zach took a moment to scan his surroundings. The walls were a warm orange hue, and covered in framed photos. Two sets of wedding photos, Heather and Bill’s and Mike and Trisha’s, plus photos of all the kids, as babies, in school uniforms, at parties. Similar photos of Townsend, Trisha, and Toby were hung up as well, Zach even spied a picture on the windowsill of Abby and Mika taken what must’ve been last new years eve, next to one of her and Townsend taken at the ranch.
One photo in particular caught his attention. It was the three adults as children, Townsend, maybe 11, holding a baby he assumed was Toby, his sister, about 5, perched on the arm of the couch beside him. She was mid laugh, and even Townsend had a slight smile on his face, cheeks rounder and eyes softer than Zach was used to seeing. Fewer lines drawn across his face and no bags weighing his skin down. He looked like a happy kid.
Something like jealousy, like hatred, like hurt, bubbled up in his throat and burned through his chest. There weren’t any pictures of Zach as a kid. Catherine either didn’t take them or didn’t care enough to keep them; Zach has no idea what he looked like as a kid. He knew he was scrawny, probably due to a few too many meals missed, and he knew he wasn’t happy. He didn’t have a home filled with family pictures and love, where everyone was welcome and wanted. He didn’t have a warm mother who doted on him, who called him honey and wrapped him up in hugs whenever he wanted. He didn’t have any siblings to hold or be held by, to share in their struggles or their joy. He didn’t even have a fucking father.
Now he did though. Now he had a father who was kind of trying, Zach knew. He made an effort to learn things about Zach, do invite him to do things he might enjoy. He helped him pay rent the couple of times he’s struggled and he offered him a place to sleep when his last apartment fell through.
He was trying, now.
But he grew up in this home, with real parents and real siblings. With a street he could play on and a warm bedroom to come home to. Immersed in love and affection so vivid that it bled from the walls that boxed him in. He had this perfect life, this perfect family.
Why didn’t Zach get any of that?
That was the question the burned through him when Abby passed him his drink. When he took a sip and immediately registered a hint of something stronger lingering in the background, Abby’s wink and reassuring smile confirming what he suspected. It was kind of her to try help him relax, and it did help a bit.
But the questions, the rage, had been lingering in the back of his mind, in the pit of his stomach, in the heart of his chest, for the past week. Every time Heather soothed a hand over his head, or pressed a kiss to her son’s cheek. Every time Bill clapped Townsend on the back, called him son. Every time the kids latched onto his legs and asked him to play with them, leaving him floundering until Abby swooped in as a suitable replacement. Every time Trisha looked down her nose at him, or Toby tried chatting to him about women, its all Zach could do not to scream.
He wonders if he could’ve had this. If Townsend had stuck around long enough to realise Catherine was pregnant. If he took him from her, took him to this nice normal family. Would he be a happier kid? More normal?
Would he be happier now?
A week into his visit, and the thought was still keeping him up at night. He had tossed and turned in this bed that used to be his father’s what felt like a thousand times before giving in and heading downstairs for a drink.
Clearly though, theres no escape in this house, as he opened the door to the kitchen to find Abby perched on the counter separating the kitchen from the sitting room and Townsend preparing something on the stove.
“What are you two doing up?”
Townsend seemed to have short-circuited, starting at him as if he’d forgotten his son was supposed to be sleeping upstairs. Abby just grinned. “Jet-lag.”
“You’ve been here a week?”
A slight flush flickered across his fathers face.
“Okay then. We needed to stretch our legs.” Abby was clearly in a good mood, wide smile stretching across her face as she reached out to nudge Townsend with her foot. Flush spreading from his cheeks down his neck, his father chuckled and responded “We?” to which Abby stuck her tongue out at him.
Oh. Oh.
No doubt seeing his own face begin to heat up as he caught on to Abby’s innuendos, Townsend whipped a tea towel at her when she began to laugh again, asking him what he was doing up.
“Just couldn’t sleep.”
A wicked grin and a wink was sent his way. “Calling Cam?”
“-Wha-? No!”
“Please stop.” Townsend wouldn’t look at him, just staring dejectedly at Abby while she threw her head back in giggles. “You’re impossible.” But he pressed a kiss to the side of her head anyway, turning away before Zach could analyse the look on his face.
“Do you want a drink Zach?” He asked politely, tone switching from the exasperated affection he reserved for Abby to a neutral polite. Zach stared at his back, watching as he decanted tea from a china teapot decorated with pictures of the family into mugs he retrieved from the cupboard. The ones he picked out were plain, but he could spot one that said “best father ever”, and another with sloppily painted hearts in all shades of pink. He wondered which of the siblings bought the former, which of them lovingly hand painted the latter. Wondered again why his father got to have this perfectly normal family only to leave him with Catherine.
Why didn’t I get any of this?
His father paused, turning to face him as he set one of the mugs in Abby’s outstretched hands.
Shit did I say that out loud?
“What do you mean Zach?” His face was cautious, tone inquisitive, turning to face him fully. Over his shoulder, Abby cocked her head slightly, a single eyebrow raised. Zach would bet his career that she already knew exactly what he meant, has probably known he was going to blow up long before he did. It was a scary skill she shared with her sister, knowing what the people around them were thinking before they did themselves. “Get any of what?”
The anger built up in her chest again, pounding through his heart hot and volatile and fast. Snatching the offered mug out of his hands, ignoring the trickle of pain that burned down his skin as the hot water splashed over the rim, he slammed it down on the counter and threw his hands out to gesture at the mugs still in the cupboard. “That!” The picture of the siblings cuddled up on the sofa. “That!” The rooms upstairs where the strangers who were supposed to be his grandparents were sleeping. He threw his hands out at his father, “Fucking any of it!”
Suddenly, the jealousy and the rage and the pain were so overwhelming, everything boiled over and Zach thought he was going to explode. He reached out and grabbed the stupid teapot from the counter, hurling it straight at Townsend’s head. Luckily, the man had enough of his wits about him to duck, and Abby slid herself along the counter away from the wall where the pot shattered, fragments of china flying over the room and the remnants of the hot tea trickling down the kitchen tiles. Zach screamed, strangled out of his throat and hot in his mouth. Hands went to his hair, grabbing, ripping tearing, trying to feel anything but the splitting in his chest. Knees collapsing, back bending, he curled forwards onto the floor, legs slamming into the cool ground as he tried to keep his breath in his chest.
All he ever had was her, why couldn’t he have any of this?
A third hand was suddenly on his head, easing open his clenched fists and soothing back his messy hair. It found its way to the back of neck, bringing him forward as another hand found his back, and suddenly his face was buried in his father’s neck as the tears finally broke free. Harsh sobs drew their way out of his chest, trickling down his face and dripping down his nose, ripping open his throat and dribbling from his mouth. He wept openly, blubbering half formed words of apology and unfairness, hands dropping to his sides and gently reach out for Townsend’s shirt as he fell into the man’s chest. A single kiss was pressed to the top of his head, a small “I’m sorry” whispered into the back of his ear.
He fell apart.
In the back of his mind, he could hear Abby ushering the children away from the kitchen door, apologising for the bang and promising them a story to send them back to sleep. He felt Townsend rocking him slightly side to side, lost count of the apologies pressed into his head, sensed them shifting slowly so the man’s back was leant against the cabinets. No one tried to remove him, or reprimand him, or send him away for being bad or a bother or for simply not being enough. He ended up staying there the whole night, crying quietly in his father’s arms, still wanting to go home, but feeling much closer to it than he had this morning.

Authors note:
Once again, this was much longer than expected. Hopefully they won’t all end up this long or it definitely going to fall behind in the first week, but here you go.
Don’t know if I quite conveyed the build up and the cause of Zach’s anger right but I imagine Townsend coming from a completely normal family, which is obviously completely different to Zach’s upbringing, and there’s a lot of jealousy there mixed in with the feeling of abandonment, even if Zach know it wasn’t really his fault and he is trying. Was going to try write a full resolution where they talk about everything but it was becoming far too long. Plus, I think this suits them a bit better, neither of them are big on talking about their feelings anyway.
Abby pretty much spends this entire holiday getting tipsy, teasing the boys, and playing with the kids. She’s having a great time.

3/20 Blog
Today we watched “Neon Genesis Evangelion” episodes 8,16, 24, and 26 to build onto the beginning of what we watched earlier this week. Episode 8, titled “Asuka Arrives in Japan” introduces us to Asuka Langley Soryu, a vibrant character whose arrival injects new energy into the series. Asuka's spirited personality and exceptional piloting skills challenge Shinji’s role as the primary Eva pilot, sparking intriguing character dynamics and internal conflicts. However, beneath Asuka's confident exterior lies a complex web of insecurities and vulnerabilities. As viewers peel back the layers of her personality, they uncover the deep-rooted fears and traumas that shape her actions and motivations. Through Asuka's interactions with the other characters, particularly Shinji, “Evangelion” explores themes of identity, belonging, and the search for validation in a world full of uncertainty. In episode 16, "Sickness Unto Death, And…," the series delves into the characters' psyches, particularly Shinji's struggle with existential angst and depression. When Shinji is immersed in the Eva after being sucked into the Angel, the Angel interrogates him leaving him with a profound and introspective encounter. This entity challenges Shinji's way of life, accusing him of seeking validation from others while ignoring his own pain. Conflicted, Shinji defends his pursuit of happiness, but as he faces imminent danger, he is jolted awake to a vision of his mother. This encounter leaves him with a deep realization about himself and his choices. Through this scene, themes of identity and self-worth are explored, offering an important glimpse into the inner turmoil of our protagonists. After these two episodes, things started getting very confusing and convoluted and it was hard to understand what exactly was going on. Especially the last episode which delivers a surreal and introspective conclusion, plunging viewers into the depths of the characters' minds. Through dreamlike sequences and philosophical ponderings, the episode invites reflection on the nature of existence and the complexities of human emotions. Even though we didn’t watch all the episodes, I thought “Neon Genesis Evangelion” was interesting and had a lot of meaningful themes and a compelling story. Even during the mecha battles and apocalyptic setting, the series managed to delve deep into human psychology, sparking introspection and contemplation.
