#Throwback, Baby! Thanksgiving Weekend 2013. North Carolina Hmong New Year. 5 Things You Need to Know About This Picture 1. Hmong New Years feed my soul...and belly. There is so much beauty to be witnessed at a Hmong New Year. 2. My sister, Nancy, is the best partner to have at Hmong New Years. You can't ever stay too long at a Hmong New Year for Nancy. 3. The hospitality I have always received at the NC Hmong New Year is the sweeeeetest. 4. I am picky about my nab vam. Sometimes, it's a hit or miss. True for you too? 5. I love to entertain, but for this New Year, my main purpose was to BE entertained. I saw David Yang perform for the first time and watched the last performance ever for the band, Reflections. Bittersweet memories.

from the Instagram of Hmong American singer Pagnia Xiong:
Betcha didn’t know I was in a music duo once? Hello from 1999! I was so young. A new teenager. So to look back on that these moments, I am humbled. These are the building blocks of my music career. . I had just discovered I could sing a few years earlier in a Hmong children’s choir. That I could stand on a stage and stand my ground in front of hundreds of people who had never heard me. . Of course, it wouldn’t have happened without my sister, @pakoubeauty. When our choir days were over, she didn’t quit on me. We called ourselves Asianeyezed. For two years, we performed wherever people asked. Every Hmong New Year. Every family function. Every social event. Even when we didn’t expect to sing, we sung. . I like to think if we were still a duo today, The Kong & Shu Project would have some competition. LOL. I loved us. I still love us. And although Pa Kou no longer claims she sings, I still want us to perform together one day. When everything else ended in my music world, Pa Kou stood by me, instilled confidence in me, and made the journey more fun. . 20 years later, she still does that. I love you, sis. Forever and ever. . #throwbackthursday #PagniaXiong#Blessed #SingingSisters#HmongMusic #HmongSingers#HmongArtists #tksp

Just for you. I've never given away anything like this before! "Khaws Tog" by Whyteshadows was one of the very first songs I wanted to sing onstage as a teenager. When my sister, Pa Kou and I sung and harmonized to it, my heart always smiled. (Pa Kou was so dang good at harmonizing.) Anywho, I thought you might like this special gift. What good would it do if I only kept it to myself, right? To receive this gift, simply visit my store and order yourself (or a loved one) the "Empowerment" t-shirt.* Thank you so much for your love and support! Have a fantastic Labor Day weekend! LOVE, Pagnia *Special gift offer only available through Labor Day. Limited t-shirt sizes and quantity available.

#Throwback, Baby! Spring 2006. Recording my first album ever. 5 Things You Need to Know About This Picture 1. Nearly every weekend, I would make the 5-hour drive from Madison, WI to St. Paul, MN to record. 2. I serenaded a python (yes, the snake) every time I recorded. I also witnessed a feeding once (its meal was a mouse). Never ever again. 3. I couldn't cut my hair, so I bleached it. If only ombre hair was a trend back then. 4. I was vocally challenged by the music producers in this album and discovered that limitations only exist if you put them on yourself. 5. My siblings were and still are my biggest supporters. They would hang out and wait for me in the studio lounge the entire weekend while I recorded. No complaints ever.

BTS: I am truly blessed with amazing sisters. Two flew in from each coast and one gave up her schedule to make sure you were all able to see me perform, grab a CD, get your t-shirt signed, + take a photo with me. Pader, Pa Kou, & Nancy helped make this past J4 an incredible success! THANK YOU to my biggest supporters: my beloved sisters! I LOVE YOU ALL!

"The Notebook" and "Nyob Ib Sab" is 10 years old! The song, "Nyob Ib Sab" was written shortly after I saw this powerful love story. Crazy how time flies and how grateful I am that "Nyob Ib Sab" has been welcomed into many of your lives. P.S. I'll be performing "Nyob Ib Sab" at the CHAT Freedom Fest on July 4th! See you there! ‪#‎chatfreedomfest‬ ‪#‎30daystoJ4‬ ‪#‎day22‬
