I may have only half an idea as to what I'm doing on summoner OR scholar, but that's 100% more of an idea than I have on any other casting or healing job.
#Despite SMN being braindead I'm not very good at it#Also still too chickenshit to heal anything other than MSQ roulette most days#Mostly because I'm not great at remembering all the buttons I gained after level 60ish#final fantasy xiv#ffxiv#ff14#ff14 ffxiv#ffxiv 6.55#ff14 6.55#ffxiv viera#ff14 viera#male viera#rava viera#ffxiv glamour#pagl'than#great gubal library#ff14 glamour#ffxiv screenshots#ff14 screenshots#ffxiv screenies#ff14 screenies

For all the strength I think I have and the strength I’ve yet to find, I will ever be in awe of those who comb the field for the dead and dying. The weight a healer must feel, knowing the measure of every breath, the march of time unravelling the string of life… The ash burns our lungs, the violence rings in our ears. I can taste the blood on the air, even the color of the world changes, and I ache to rush ahead, to sing with the melody of battle that races in my veins! But your heart doesn’t beat the way mine does, and the honor I yearn for is lesser than the one you’ve found. My lance will never be the symbol of hope your staff is. I will protect your mission and make your burden lighter, while you, on behalf of others, dance with death himself.

have you ever started a project and then noticed dark knowledge that spiraled into a mental breakdown. no? that's how my extended map of gridania for a friend is going
#saint.txt#ok context#I've been meaning for a while to do an extended map of coerthas for my own lore stuff to pepper in h/c settlements and forts and stuff#bc of the inherent nature of how MMO maps are much. much. MUCH smaller than they would be in area bc game limits.#anyways a close friend joked abt needing a gridania map for their own lore so I was like bet and started drawing it#and all I needed was gridania so I was like. just take the official blank region map off ffxiv.api and layer it over with the in-game one#that has all the playable areas on it. overlay them. and draw out the regions so you have a rough idea of where things are. simple.#+ whatever 1.0 maps you can find#except. EXCEPT. after actually inspecting the geography and where the regions of the shroud are placed the entire in game map is wrong.#all of it. north shroud is placed where coerthas western lowlands is. south shroud is literally in pagl'than. half of central shroud#(central lowlands not western sorry)#is in mor dhona and haukke manor takes up 1/4 of silvertear lake.#also bonus if you go by in game maps ala mhigo the city is quite literally in the fuckin sea. it's underwater!!!!!!!!!!#I'm not even kidding go look up gyr abania right now on the ffxiv wiki and look at the region map the lochs is in the fuckin sea!!!!!#anyways that's been my night I am currently reaching through the screen of an xiv dev

Being exposed to Wolchefant week has been asking alot pardon me for this just the four of us request. How did Haurchefant and Aymeric react to the new Agni was pregos with Esme?
(I love all your asks so don't worry!)
With Estinien volunteering to go with Alphinaud and Thancred to deal with other Lunar Primals, Agnes found herself trudging in the freshly fallen snow back to Borel Manor by herself. At least it's a short walk. Then I can tell them, lie down, and hopefully not vomit anymore today.
As soon as she opened the front door, she smiled seeing Aymeric (out of his armor and in some yummy tight trousers) and Haurchefant (SO CUDDLY ALWAYS) chatting.
"Mon ange! Welcome home, darling. But...wasn't there supposed to be a certain grump with you?" Haurchefant said as he hugged Agnes.
"He's on official Scion business with Alphinaud and Thancred. Should only be a day or two, love." She turned to Aymeric, who held out his arms. "I know it's not been that long, but I missed you both so very much." She leaned her head on Aymeric's chest. He gives such amazing hugs. I always feel safe with him. With all of them. Just want to snuggle and NOT VOMIT. "There's...erm, something I do need to tell both of you." Agnes stepped out of Aymeric's embrace and smiled sheepishly.
Aymeric raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Take a breath. Be calm. This is what we all want, even if the timing is shit. "So after everything at Pagl'than and then Arenvald's injury and getting back to Mor Dhona..." Oh gods, Haurche looks like the anticipation is going to kill him. Faster, Agi! "I almost threw up on Thancred, and we found out I'm pregnant. We're having a baby." YES THEY KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, AGI!!!!
Agnes was not prepared for the reaction.
"PRAISE THE FURY!!!!!!! WE'RE GOING TO BE FATHERS, AYMERIC! FATHERS!!!! OH MY LOVE!!!" Haurchefant kissed Agnes passionately and then turned to a beaming Aymeric and kissed him too. "WE'RE GOING TO BE FATHERS!!! I MUST TELL FATHER, ARTOIREL, AND EMMANELLAIN IMMEDIATELY!" Before she could say another word, Haurchefant was out the door.
"Oh dear, I fear all of Ishgard is going to know by the end of the day." Agnes wrinkled her nose and giggled. She felt Aymeric's arms hugging her from behind, his lips pressing small kisses to her head.
"Nay, all of Ishgard will know within a bell. I wouldn't doubt Emmanellain's ability to spread the word. How are you feeling, dearest?"
Agnes sighed. "Very tired. I was thinking of lying down for a bit before dinner, if that's alright, love."
"Would you mind if I kept you company?"
WOULD I MIND, SER?!?!?!? She turned and touched his cheek. "Of course, love. Are...are you happy?"
His sapphire eyes shimmering, Aymeric nodded enthusiastically. "Beloved wife, I'm the happiest man on the star. Tis the beginning of a new adventure, one that I'm excited for. And besides," he purred as he palmed her lower belly. OH GODS. "tis also only the beginning for our family. This little one will never want for siblings, will they darling?" Noticing her blushing, he chuckled. "Quite right. Shall we?"
She nodded. "Yes, love. Could use a cuddle or two or three or--"
Aymeric silenced her with a sweet kiss and led her upstairs. Where I didn't puke anymore today! Yay!!!

character bingo… you know i gotta ask about estinien
A character that has grown on me over time. Didn't like him in HW. It's hard to like a character who is always hidden behind full plate armor and only thinks about murder. At least for me. By the time he joins the Scions I had grudgingly accepted his presence in the story. But then he calls you "aibou" during the Pagl'than dungeon and it sparked something inside me. Like "Yeah! I'm Estinien's aibou!" And so I appreciated him a lot more during EW.
He and Severia aren't close, but I think they share a very unique vibe that only the two of them really understand. Like if they were the sort of people who tended to get close to others then they would be close, but they're not that kind of people so they don't and they both understand and are ok with that. They're comfortable with each other and appreciate the other's skills.
A rare character where the voice acting doesn't affect how I feel at all.

Maybe I'm only saying this because I'm a major First Brood lover, but it would have been better if, when Vritra calls out and roars for Azdaja to pull her out of Zeromus, it had shown Hraesvelgr, Tiamat, and heck even Estinien-hogg calling out as well.
The familial connection to Vrtra is what has been emphasized most of all, the Ilsabard dragon siblings might not have as close of a connection to their Dravanian and Meracydian siblings, I guess, but I think it would have been nice to show that Azdaja, and Vrtra as well, has more family than just each other. Heck, if I'm recalling correctly, the game says that Azdaja ended up sucked into the Void while trying to save/protect Tiamat. And while Bahamut unfortunately is not around to respond, Azdaja was then in a similar scenario as he was, captured and used as a source of magical power for years. So that would actually amplify the emotion of a Tiamat response, imo, because she would be responding where Bahamut can't, over the same sort of pain inflicted on him. AND FURTHERMORE, Azdaja being turned into Zeromus, not dissimilar to the corruption of Bahamut first by the Allagans and then by the Telophoroi, which Tiamat stood against in Pagl'than.
So like... real missed opportunity there. Yes I do just want to see more dragons again. No I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

I was gonna add this to the 'Suzune in different franchises' post but it's... not really that?
Star Wars: the Clone Wars
- the Allagans left Etheirys for the stars a long ass time ago and now the Allagan technology the modern Etheirans dug up is receiving a signal from beyond the stars... As in a location beacon. And so they send a delegation (the Elysian fields/Ultima Thule folks - the Omicrons, the Meteia - who number more than two here because i like their design - the Ea, etc.) plus some others to make sure any returning Allagans aren't hostile or in a conquering mood if they find out Etheirys is still inhabitable.
So, in this verse, Etheirys' is apart of the Elysion... section. system. whatever on the Outer of the Galaxy (Far Far Away) with different planets like. Etheirys is home to the usual suspects - Hyur, Elezen, Miqo'te, Au Ra, Roegadyn, Viera, Hrothgar. and then there's like ... 'Fireworld' - home to Pagl'than and O'ghomoro where the kobolds and amal'jaa live, and the watery planet where Sahagin come from - (Etheirys has enough species to populate Star Wars, okay?)
Anyway, that's not the point of this. They introduce themselves as 'Alphatron' because Omicrons are friends now and the Elysians don't want anyone finding their system/sector. specially since they get to the wider galaxy and find them in the middle of a war so they just wanna make sure nothing is keep pinging or follow any locator beacons back and then go home. Everyone just settled down into *not* attacking, they don't need any outside factors. They're Switzerland. If anyone comes knocking they will be shot down.
And Suzune along with some others has been sent as apart of the research team to 'make sure aether works out here and how *does* it work out here and 'is this Allagan tech going to explode or do something weird. Thing is, she was a quartermaster in Limsa Lominsa and everyone just wants to cut through the bullshit and go home. In the Galactic Senate, it takes eight hundred years to get anything done so while the delegates are slowly spiraling into madness as they struggle not to descend into violence, the other decide to go poking around Coruscant for any suspicious Allagan tech.
Allagan tech is Sith stuff now. They teamed up five thousand years ago and the Sith alchemy and rituals is strongly influenced by Allagan aetherochemistry (and the Allagans rediscovered some of their magical roots, aw how nice for them). Well, the good news is that the Allagans are all dead. the bad news even though the Sith appear to be dead *someone* is using Allagan tech to ping the old Allagan Starscape antenna a whole bleeding galaxy away. (there's probably Allagan-Sith magitek all over and therefore 'Anti-Allagan(-Sith) detection teams, but we're focusing on the Coruscant group).
While the Coruscant group is poking around, Suzune runs into the Coruscant Guard trying to do their jobs and saves them from getting deleted from existence by Allagan nonsense. She has the in-game sword 'Mighty Thunderstroke' here called 'Raiga' (lightning fang) and probably blocks a bunch of laser fire and then cuts a laser beam in half.
Fox enters the [CC group] chat [he never participates in] Fox: Our Jedi is better than yours. [attached video: General Murakumo Supremacy] (he didn't title it) *clamour ensues* Fox leaves the chat
(Suzune has no idea what a Jedi is; she thinks it means 'generic magic-user'. oops.)

ok some drk!rouvastre thoughts before I do pagl'than:
fray manifests first during hw in azys lla, but rouvastre is so good at emotional repression they don't actually show up for real until shb. the equivalent of drk 30-50 happens during the msq for shb (fray's bloodthirst mixes with the lightwarden thing so it's really hard to tell who's who). for important context, right after beating thordan and zephirin to death (not jokes) rouvastre had an Alberic Moment:tm: and looked directly into nidhogg's soul, saw how similar they were, and was nearly subsumed by it (tl;dr: if it wasn't for midgardsormr, nidhogg's host would've been them). it really shook them.
fray doesn't manifest during stb bc rouvastre still has middy and drahm korr (the ex-horde wyvern lending them drg juice) as emotional support dragon therapists lingering in his brain. it's the fact that a) middy is gone now by shb and b) they don't have a wyvern who can feel every single thought and emotion that crosses her brain to talk to in norvrandt bc g'raha can't bring her over that means for the first time in an extremely long time they're alone, and at that point he still doesn't feel like confiding in the scions is an option so she's extremely lonely and fray springs outta nowhere to fill the gap.
as a result, fray doesn't exactly look like fray; while they're still the hallucination of the wol's repressed anger, fray for rouvastre is that plus the lingering threads of nidhogg's influence that still remain plus all of their hangups about being a weapon first for ishgard and then the scions. fray looks like some weird fucked up corrupted dragoon to them and is more of a sinister, lingering shadow that's Always There:tm: who gets angrier outta worry the more they're ignored rather than the mentor angle drk quests take. as everything goes on tho they take the self-acceptance and love angle fray normally takes and like normal they really want rouvastre to be a less passive player in their own life.
the merchant scene is them losing it on lue reeq. at some point they lose it on the scions outta stress and only stop once they realize they're terrifying the twins and ryne. fray tries to take control of the meat suit in the middle of the crystarium once they've had enough of the self-destructive lightwarden stuff that's killing the both of them.
fray almost shatters as the light corruption advances and rouvastre loses their sense of self, so like. they had a point.
I don't have a spot to slot myste yet but he's Everything he is normally; the guilt, the self-hatred, the survivor's guilt. he's more obviously resentful and angry at rouvastre.
unfortunately bc I've messed about with it so much it means that sid and rielle aren't canon for them (probably), but we can pretend in our hearts.

Wow I am surprised I was more invested in everything going on for 6.1 than I was for the entirety of 5.1 - .5
#{ 5.1 through 5.5 had its epic moments sure }#{ but I never really understood what Elidibus was doing or how he was fooling anyone }#{ Fandaniel always a cheese grater with a voice }#{ and Lunar Primals just felt like a way to cheapen Primals }#{ the Limsa stuff was okay }#{ the dungeons felt uninspiring }#{ Cosmos is cool and very Versailles }#{ Jazzy Sastasha was just okay }#{ Heroes' Gauntlet was a bit annoying }#{ Matoya's Relict was kind of neat but also a bit annoying how damage spongey everything was }#{ and Pagl'thans soundtrack FUCKS }#{ but as a dungeon it was just okay }#{ this patch out ever made it feel focused }#{ we were doing something with only hints of things going on }#{ we got lore from Vrtra }#{ progress on how Radz-at-Han is doing }#{ felt like a Post-Heavensward patch }#{ which is great }
