August 9, 2024 - Chestnut-crowned Becard (Pachyramphus castaneus) Found in several separate ranges in parts of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela, these becards live in forests and wetlands. Foraging alone or in pairs, they eat large insects and some berries, picking their prey from surfaces while perched or hovering and capturing it in short flights. They build bulky, round nests with entrances near the bottom from grass and plant fibers in trees.

July 30, 2024 - Gray-collared Becard (Pachyramphus major) Found from Mexico south to Nicaragua, these becards live in and around forests and cultivated areas with trees. They eat insects and fruit, foraging alone or in pairs and sometimes joining mixed-species flocks. Only one of their nests has been described, a ball of lichen, twigs, pine needles, bark, and silk from the cocoons of butterflies with a slanted roof and side entrance built in an oak tree. Both parents likely care for the chicks.
