A quick breakdown of the hierarchy of the Shaodw Thieves for my own benefit because Forgotten Realms lore loves more than anything else to contradict itself, especially when the CRPGs get involved. The main sources cited below will be Baldur's Gate II (2E, Sep 2000 CE, 1369 DR), Cloak & Dagger (2E, Jun 2000 CE, 1370 DR), and Lords of Darkness (3E, Oct 2001 CE, 1372 DR). For Baldur's Gate II, i am primarily cross-referencing the wiki with my own limited screenshots, so be prepared for some holes there. Hopefully, i can someday replay the game with a focus on getting more information out about these guys and reblog with that additional information, but let's not get ahead of ourselves
I may be a bit obnoxious in how frequently i point to my sources, but that's because my head is spinning looking at my notesheet for this. How did i let them get so disorganized? Oh dear
The general structure of the Shadow Thieves places the Shades at the top of the hierarchy followed by the Cloakmasters then the Guildmasters then the Silhouettes then the Rank and File and Raw Recruits
Bases of Operation
The Shadow Thieves are headquartered in Athkatla, the City of Coin. From 1303 DR to the time of Troubles, their headquarters was the Shadow House (C&D, p103 and 111). Although it no longer functions as the headquarters of the entire organization, it does still act as a decoy headquarters (LoD, p172). The Shadow House is the base of operations for "one part of the organization" (C&D, p104), or "just three of the guilds in Athkatla" (C&D, p111). The true headquarters is explicitly left up to the DM's discretion in Cloak & Dagger, but by 1372 DR, it is confirmed to be a large and well-protected underground complex underneath the Gilded Rose on the opposite side of town from the decoy (LoD, p172)
They also converted a building in Athkatla in 1303 DR into a training complex called Assassin's Run, and Gorion's Ward is able to visit two of their guildhalls in that city (C&D, p103; BGII)
Shades
In the highest tier of the Shadow Thief hierarchy exist the six Shades who have divided their territory amongst them (C&D, p104; LOD, p172). Together, they form the Shade Council (C&D, p104) or the Shadow Council (LoD, p172)
The current Grandmaster of Shadows, the leader of the Shades, is Rhinnom Dannihyr (C&D, p104-105; LoD, p172). Formerly a Guildmaster of Spies in Athkatla, he took over after Bhaal absorbed the life forces of his worshippers during the Time of Troubles and killed the entire Shade Council (C&D, p103). In addition to that, he was Iltarch of Amn's Council of Six which was the highest governing body in the country (C&D, p105). Rhinnom keeps his affiliation with both of these councils secret from the other (C&D, p105). Despite being human, he has lived for over a century but maintains the appearance of youth through magic (it is unclear whether the benefits of this de-aging magic extends past appearance) and is biding his time to push his way through the ranks of the Council of Six (C&D, p105)
As a note, it appears that the Council of Six has been replaced by the far less clandestine Council of Five sometime before 1479 DR, but House Dannihyr still holds a seat on the council (Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide, p92)
Another Shade is Rheax Bormul. He rules over either the Alandor Sect (C&D, p105) or the operations in Amn (LoD, p172). This is likely just a matter of semantics between sources considering the Alandor Sect is described as including "Athkatla, Crimmor, Purskul, Keczulla, Amnwater, and northern Amn" (C&D, p105). He hopes to someday take Rhinnom's place as Grandmaster of Shadows (C&D, p105)
The wiki makes mention that Aran Linvail answers to Rheax Bormul, but it cites as its source "the Baldur's Gate novel". This is not something i would normally accept as a source, but i wanted to take a look anyway to see if i could make use of their wording. BG2 was not specified, but in the games, Aran only appears in Shadows of Amn, so i only checked that one. Admittedly, i did not read the entire book, but i did read Abdel receiving the mission to kill Aran Linvail, that fight scene, and when Abdel reports back to Bodhi after killing him as well as some smaller segments here and there. I could not find the source, but whatever. I should have known it would be a fruitless search from how it was cited on the wiki
Cloakmasters
Back to the sources i actually do intend to cross compare, it varies by source how many Cloakmasters answer to each member of the Shadow Council. One source claims that exactly two Cloakmasters serve each Shade for a total of twelve (LoD, p173). The other claims that each Shade has at least two Cloakmasters, with Athkatla alone having ten (C&D, p104 and 106). Every city with a population of 10,000 or more has at least one Cloakmaster as well as another Cloakmaster for the more rural areas around those cities, or a city where many foreigners trade may receive an Cloakmaster for the purpose of facilitating information from said foreigners (C&D, p104)
Due to their close proximity, the Cloakmasters of Athkatla are all careful to respect the authority of their Shade and the Council of Shades (C&D, p106). The Cloakmaster of Athkatla'd Bridge District, Dinnom Baraizal, is especially loyal to Rheax (C&D, p106)
Guildmasters
Every Cloakmaster is served in turn by 10 Guildmasters (C&D, p104; LoD, p173). Whereas the ranks above Guildmasters are defined by geography, the Guildmasters each control a number of smaller guilds within a single speciality (C&D, p104; LoD, p173). Lords of Darkness gives as examples: smuggling, extortion and blackmail, theft and burglary (LoD, p173). Cloak & Dagger presents what seems intended to be a more complete list: "assassins; beggars; bounty hunters; burglars; con artists and tricksters; cutpurses and pickpockets; enforcers and thugs; racketeers; scouts and spies; and fences, smugglers, and pirates" (C&D, p104). These are the middle managers of the guild
Silhouettes
The final noteworthy tier are the Silhouettes. There are dozens of Shadow Thieves who bear this title, but they are all decoys for the true powers within the guild (LoD, p173). They may hire out external groups, guilds, and individuals on a contractual or permanent basis (C&D, p104). They may pose as guildmasters, but in truth they report to and act to obscure the true Guildmasters (LoD, p173)
Sporting a name that makes you question his mother's love, Renal "the Bloodscalp" is a Silhouette of Burglars based in Athkatla who enjoys donning a disguise to join teams on their missions (C&D, p108). Additionally, he hides Aran Linvail in his base of operations, labelled on the map as simply Shadow Thief Guildhall (BGII). Him being as Silhouette also checks out as he is Gorion's Ward's main point of contact for the Shadow Thieves after properly entering the city and before they might conditionally receive an offer to join (BGII)
Oryal Forestal is a Silhouette of Spies based in Athkatla (C&D, p108). He joined at the same time as Renal Bloodscalp, and the two have long been close friends and partners (C&D, p108)
Tumblr media
(Cloak & Dagger, p104)
Most information indicates Silhouettes and Guildmasters are two distinct ranks, but the above quote could not be completely ignored. An important piece of additional context for the above quote is that it comes immediately after describing the roles of Guildmasters, blurring the lines between the two. The segue is somewhat unclear as i'm sure the Shadow Thieves prefer, so there are a number of potential interpretations of this. The one that i think is most internally consistent is that, as part of their role as decoy Guildmasters, Silhouettes are only called by their proper title while in private or are even sometimes considered a subgroup of Guildmasters
After all, part of the role of the Silhouette is to be the fall guy for the real powers, and "[o]stensibly they are 'guildmasters,' but in actuality they control nothing and have no authority." (LoD, p173)
Any other interpretations i will leave to the floor as i've got enough going on here already and could make a whole post on that alone
The Rank and File
The average rank and file Shadow Thief is unaware that they are part of the guild structure at all and is largely irrelevant to the goals of this post
Shadowmasters
The Shadowmaster is a rank which i can only find evidence for in Baldur's Gate II. This is a problem. Aran Linvail, chiefly, is identified as a "Shadowmaster" (BGII). Although she is heavily implied to be lying about her rank to lure you into her ambush, the Shadow Thief Ama claims to be the Shadowmaster of eastern Esmeltaran (BGII). While the validity of the claim is highly dubious (if not outright stated to be false in a line i don't remember), we can still glean information from it. Firstly, Shadowmaster is an actual title within the context of BGII. There's no reason to make up a new rank if your goal is to have people believe you. Secondly, this Shadowmaster rank is tied to geography rather than specialization. This means the Shadowmaster is not meant to correlate to a Guildmaster or Silhouette but rather a Cloakmaster or possibly even a Shade. These greater titles are also more accurate to the scale and scope that Aran is implied to be operating at
The wiki states Aran Linvail dies in 1369 DR. This is likely to align with the events of the novelization, but it does technically allow for him to be replaced by Rheax Bormul by the time of Cloak & Dagger if we are to believe he was a Shade. However, the way Rheax is described in Cloak & Dagger lends itself to an image that he has been in the position for some time
I believe Shadowmaster is more likely meant to analogue to Cloakmaster. There are likely multiple Cloakmasters in the city. Additionally, Shadow Thieves generally only know the one superior they report to, those that report to them, and a small number of equals (C&D, p104). While Silhouettes such as Renal Bloodscalp are said to report to Guildmasters, it isn't unreasonable to assume that there is some wiggle room there, and some may report to Cloakmasters instead
Also, it counts for literally nothing, but i'm still holding onto that unsupported line on the wiki about Aran Linvail reporting to Rheax Bormul, which would make him a Cloakmaster
All in all, i will be considering him as a Cloakmaster moving forward
The Ward's Guildhall and What is Going on There?
If one is playing as a Thief in Baldur's Gate II, then they have the option of taking over a Shadow Thief guildhall for their stronghold, but as mentioned, the CRPGS can have a sometimes contentious relationship with the lore books. This leads to the question: if Gorion's Ward accepts the thief stronghold and takes over management of a guildhall, what exactly is their rank?
The obvious answer is that this would make them Guildmaster, but no one loves misdirection quite like a Shadow Thief, so i'm hesitant to accept that off the bat. Also, i would not be who i am today if i did not overthink every inconsequential detail
The key evidence (all sourced from BGII) is as follows:
The Ward's guildhall is labeled as a guildhall, and they are referred to as a guildmaster
This same was true for their predecessor, Mae'Var
Mae'var intended to work his way up the ladder by assassinating Renal Bloodscalp
You report to and pay your quotas to a Silhouette
Your immediate underlings operate a diverse range of specialities*
*(Specifically: house-breaking and safe-cracking; assassination and racketeering; pickpocketing; smuggling; and blackmails and possibly also racketeering again)
Now all of this can be waved aside as the game simplifying and altering the structure for the better gameplay experience for the player, but let's take this at face value
The Ward and Mae'Var are labeled as guildmaster(s) yet report to a Silhouette, the position that most traditionally hires outside aid, even up to permanently contracting entire guilds. They view him as their superior to the point that one of them intended to assassinate him to take his place, but if they are Guildmasters, then he should be reporting to them. Taking his place would be a definite downgrade in both power and security if Mae'Var were truly a Shadow Thief Guildmaster
Why replace Mae'var's guild with more contractors once he's been dealt with? Well simply put, there's power in numbers and money in that power
What of Aran Linvail then? Why would a Cloakmaster show his face to an outside contractor? Because i lied, and he's a Silhouette. The fake title that is not substantiated by any other source is to deploy an illusion of power. He and Renal are operating on multiple layers of nonsensical chicanery
But why would the Shadow Thieves go through all the work of hiring outside help only to disclose who they work for anyway. That's begging for problems. At that point, why not do what they say they're doing and make you an actual Guildmaster? This is all so bizarre and convoluted, even for the Shadow Thieves
Because the job of a Silhouette is to make you think they are a powerful figure in the Shadow Thieves and to take the attention from the actual powers that be
Because fuck you is why

Molly Slang
In the 18th century men who had sex with other men were known as Mollies. Mollies, at least those who lived in London, had their own slang. There were of course common 18th century terms for sex between men. There was sodomy from which we get sodomite, sodomitical, sodomitically and sodomity. And buggery from which we get bugger. While ‘sodomite’ was the word used by the courts and medical texts, ‘molly’ seems to have been the word used by the community.
The early church fathers stigmatised homosexuals as molls or sissies, and secular society called effeminate men molly-coddles and homosexuals mollies; having no other self-referring terms except the even less appealing Sodomite or Bugger, gay men transformed Molly into a term of positive self-identification, in exactly the same way that the modern subculture has transformed Gay (which derived originally from 'gay girl', meaning a female prostitute) into a term of pride and self-liberation.
~ Rictor Norton, Mother Clap's Molly House, p105
The following is an attempt to not only list and define, but also provide an example of each molly slang term in use.
Battersea’d
This ones a bit uncertain but Rictor Norton suggests that it’s “probably a synonym for ‘clapped’” (p62)
Example:
I have seen Men in his back Room behave themselves sodomitically, by exposing to each other's Sight, what they ought to have conceal'd. I have heard some of them say, Mine is the best. Yours has been Battersea'd. — I don't know what they meant by the Expression.
(Trial of George Whittle, April 1726)
Bit a Blow
Norton suggests this is “equivalent to the modern day slang ‘score a trick’.” (p67)
Example:
If they can but procure a young smug-fac'd Fellow, they never grudge any Expence; they are as eager in the Pursuit, as a young Gallant would be in quest of a Maidenhead; and it is remarkable, those effeminate Villains are much fonder of a new Convert, than a Bully would be of a Mistress at any Time, except when Madam has been fortunate, has had a good Night, bit a Blow, and buys two or three Smiles and Kisses at the Expence of a Purse of Gold.
(The Weekly Journal: or, The British Gazetteer, 7 May 1726)
Caudle-Making or Giving Caudle
Norton suggests this was “another term for anal intercourse” from “the Latin cauda, a tail.” (p106) However the term seems to be used in reference to lying-in ceremonies at molly houses. “Caudle” was a “warm drink of sweetened or spiced wine or ale thickened with gruel or other ingredients,” given “chiefly to invalids, expectant mothers, etc., and (formerly) also to those visiting a mother following the birth of a child.” (see OED) So mollies may have literally given caudle as part of the lying-in ceremony.
Example:
yet the public indignation was in some measure for a moment allayed, by the grotesque appearance of the actors:—they were seized in the very act of giving caudle to their lying-in women, and the new-born infants personated by large dolls!
(Robert Holloway, The Phœnix of Sodom, or, The Vere Street Coterie, 1813)
Chapel
A room in a molly house with a bed where one could get married (i.e. a place to have sex). [See definition of marry]
Example:
he keeps a back Room for the Mollies to drink in, and a private Room betwixt that and the Kitchen, there is a Bed in it, for the Use of the Company, when they have a Mind to be married, and for that Reason, they call that Room, The Chappel.
(Trial of George Whytle, 20 April 1726)
The Female Dialect
Molly slang.
Example:
When they are met, together, their usual Practice is to mimick a female Gossiping & fall into all the impertinent Tittle Tattle that a merry Society of good Wives can be subject to. Not long since they had cushioned up one of their Brethren, or rather Sisters, according to Female Dialect,
(Ned Ward, The History of the London Clubs, p28, published 1709)
Festival Night
Masquerade nights held at molly houses. These sometimes involved mock births known as a “lying-in” in which a molly would act out a birth scene with a wooden baby.
Example:
Not long since, upon one of their Festival Nights, they had cusheon’d up the Belly of one. of their Sodomitical Brethren, or rather Sisters, as they commonly call’d themselves, disguising him in a Womans Night-Gown, Sarsnet-Hood, and Nightrale, who, when the Company were met, was to mimick the wry Faces of a groaning Woman, to be deliver’d of a joynted Babie they had provided for that Purpose, and to undergo all the Formalities of a Lying in.
(Ned Ward, Satyrical Reflections On Clubs, p285, published 1710)
Husband
A romantic and/or sexual partner.
Example:
a private Room betwixt that and the Kitchen, there is a Bed in it, for the Use of the Company, when they have a Mind to be married, and for that Reason, they call that Room, The Chappel. - And there he has brought me to several Husbands, as we used to call them.
(Trial of George Whytle, 20 April 1726)
Indorse
Anal sex
Example:
to indorse, as they call it, but in plain English to commit Sodomy.
(The Weekly Journal, 7 May, 1726)
Lying-in
A mock birth ceremony held at molly houses on festival nights in which a molly would act out a birth scene with a wooden baby.
To make themselves as ridiculous as Extravagance and Effeminacy can render them, they sometimes have a Lying-inn, when one of them is plac'd in a Chair, and the others attending with Napkins, a Bason of Water, &c. Susan Guzzle, a Gentleman's Servant, is the Midwife, and with a great Deal of Ceremony, a jointed Baby is brought from under the Chair he sits on.
(James Dalton's Narrative, 1728)
Maiden Name
Sobriquets used by mollies. Often involved a variation of the name Molly or a reference to a molly’s profession. E.g. Moll Irons, Pomegranate Molly, Dip-Candle Mary. (see Norton p92 for more examples of maiden names)
Example:
The Prisoner sold Oranges and for that reason he went by the Maiden Name (as they call'd it) of Orange Deb.
(Trial of Martin Mackintosh, 11 July 1726)
Make a Bargain
Agree to have sex.
Example:
where they make their Bargains, and then with draw into some dark Corners to indorse, as they call it, but in plain English to commit Sodomy.
(The Weekly Journal, 7 May, 1726)
The Markets
Cruising grounds.
Example:
We hear that near 20 houses have been discover’d, which entertain’d sodomitical clubs; besides the nocturnal assemblies of great numbers of the like vile persons at what they call the markets, which are the Royal-Exchange, Moorfields, Lincolns-Inn Bog-houses, the south side of St. James’s Park and the piazza’s of Covent-Garden, where they make their bargains, and then with draw into some dark corners to indorse, as they call it, but in plain English to commit sodomy.
(The Weekly Journal, 7 May, 1726)
Marry
To have sex
Then they'd go by Couples, into a Room on the same Floor to be marry'd as they call'd it. The Door at that Room was kept by - Ecclestone to prevent any body from balking their Diversions. - When they came out, they used to brag in plain Terms, of what they had been doing, and the Prisoner was present all the Time, except when she went out to fetch Liquors.
(Trial of Margaret Clap, 11 July 1726)
Molly (plural Mollies)
A man who had sex with other men.
Example:
Sukey Haws, being one Day in a pleasant Humour, inform'd Dalton of a Wedding (as they call it) some Time since, between Moll Irons, and another Molly,
(James Dalton's Narrative, 1728)
Molly House
A house or tavern that catered to mollies. Typically served alcohol and often had music and dancing. Usually there was a room where mollies could have sex known as the chapel. Some molly houses took molly lodgers. (see trial of William Griffin, 20 April, 1726)
Example:
Mrs. Clap's House was notorious for being a Molly-House.
(Trial of Gabriel Lawrence, 20 April, 1726)
Molly, Mollied
To flirt with/have sex with another man.
Example:
I said, I never mollied you. My Lord, I never laid my Hand upon him, nor touch'd him; I never touch'd the Man in my Life.
(Trial of Richard Manning, 17 January 1746)
Mollying
Of a man who has sex with other men.
Example:
But they look'd a skew upon Mark Partridge, and call'd him a treacherous, blowing-up Mollying Bitch, and threatned that they'd Massacre any body that betray'd them.
(Trial of Thomas Wright, 20 April 1726)
Molly-Cull
A man who has sex with other men. A “Cull” was “a man, a fellow, a chap.” Interestingly a “Queer Cull” was “a foolish dandy, a fop.” (see Green’s Dictionary of Slang)
Example:
He removed to Beech-lane, where he likewise kept Rooms for the Entertainment of the Molly-Culls, and sold Ale as he did at his other House.
(Trial of Thomas Wright, 20 April 1726)
Queen
A molly (esp. a promiscuous one). Possibly derived from Middle English “quean” meaning “a bold or impudent woman; a hussy; spec. a prostitute.” (see OED)
Example:
Where have you been you saucy Queen?
(Hell Upon Earth, 1729)
Story, to do the
Sex
Example:
Ned solicited me to do the Story, and would fain have had me to have gone into the Necessary-House with him, for he said, he could not rest till he had enjoy'd me.
(Trial of George Kedger, April 1726)
Trade (esp. unnatural trade)
Sex
Example:
Let the Fops of the Town upbraid
Us, for an unnatural Trade,
We value not Man nor Maid;
But among our own selves we'll be free,
But among, &c.
(But Among Our Own Selves, 1728)
Wedding Night
Sex
Example:
Ned, says he, there's a Country Gentleman of my Acquaintance, just come to Town, and if you'll give him a Wedding Night, he'll pay you very handsomely.
(Trial of George Whittle, April 1726)
General Slang
There were also some general 18th century slang terms that weren’t unique to mollies but was used by them.
Caterwauling
To behave amorously or lasciviously.
Example:
Ah! you bold Pullet, where have you been a catterwauling all this Nigh? I assure you, Priscilla, I've been Hunting High and Low for you, with a heavy Heart which you know is ever at your Command, therefore we'll now go to Bed at some Inn, and Kiss and Coo away the time till Morning as true Lovers ought to do.
(Footpads and Sodomites, 1719)
Make Love
To “pay amorous attention; to court, woo” (see OED)
Example:
Mrs. Clap's House was notorious for being a Molly-House. - In order to detect some that frequented it, I have been there several Times, and seen 20 or 30 of 'em together, making Love, as they call'd it, in a very indecent Manner.
(Trial of Gabriel Lawrence, 20 April, 1726)
Pick Up
To strike up a (usually casual) sexual relationship with someone. “Originally: to engage the sexual services of (a prostitute, etc.)” (see OED)
Example:
I pick'd up two Men, who had no Money, but however they proved to be my old Acquaintance, and very good Gentlewomen they were, One of them has been transported for counterfeiting Masquerade Tickets; and t'other went to the Masquerade in a Velvet Domine, and pick'd up an old Gentleman, and went to Bed with him,
(Trial of Thomas Gordon, 5 July 1732)

We'll kiss and we'll Sw[iv]e,
Behind we will drive,
And we will contrive
New Ways for Lechery,
New Ways, &c.
(But Among Our Own Selves, 1728)
Slang About Mollies
Its unclear if these were used by mollies or simply about them. Some of these are clearly offensive in nature however some may have been used in a more positive or neutral way.
Agent
The top in anal sex
Example:
It is well known that there must be two Parties in this Crime; the Pathick and the Agent; both equally guilty.
(William Pulteney, A Proper Reply to a Late Scurrilous Libel; Intitled, Sedition and Defamation Display’d, 1731)
Back Gammon Player
Defined by The Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1785) as “a sodomite.”
Usher, or Gentleman of the Back Door
Defined by The Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1785) as “a sodomite.”
Bud Sallogh, Shitten P-ck
Defined by The Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1785) as “an Irish appellation for a sodomite.”
Buggeranto
Offensive term for someone who engages in buggery.
Example:
We then proceeded and went on to the Change, turn’d to the Right, and Jostled in amongst a parcel of Swarthy Buggerantoes, Preternatural Fornicators, as my Friend call’d them, who would Ogle a Handsome Young Man with as much Lust, as a True-bred English Whoremaster would gaze upon a Beautiful Virgin.
(The London Spy, part III, published 1703)
Butterfly
Norton suggests it could be “slang for catamite” (p223)
Example:
Satire or Sense alas! can Sporus feel? Who breaks a Butterfly upon a Wheel? Yet let me flap this Bug with gilded Wings, This painted Child of Dirt that stinks and stings.
(Alexander Pope, An Epistle from Mr Pope to Dr Arbuthnot, 1735)
Catamite
The younger partner in a male-male sexual relationship, or more generally a boy or young man who has sex with men. Sometimes used as synonym for pathic.
Example:
Another Discovery has been made among those infamous Monsters call'd Sodomites, last Saturday, at the Three Black Birds on Temple Backs, where two of those Catamites, one a Baker in St. Phillip's, and the other a Cloth Shearer in Temple-Street, were seen in a Caterwauling Posture in a Room of the House by the Fire-side; but were routed by the People, and narrowly escaped being mobbed. They have both disappeared.
(Ipswich Journal, 8 July 1732)
Gomorrean
Another term for men who had sex with men. Like the more common sodomite it comes from the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah.
In a Word, he is the completest Gomorrean that has been met with for some Time; tho from some papers found in his Pocket, it is no less certain than shocking, that there are many Clubs of these Animals now in Town, who, it is hoped, will soon be exposed to publick View.
(The London Chronicle 4 - 6 Jan 1757)
Madge Cull
Another word for a molly.
Rictor Norton explains that by “the last quarter of the eighteenth century” the term madge cull was used as well as molly. (p184) It comes from a combination of “Madge” a slang term for “the female genitals” and “Cull” slang for “a man, a fellow, a chap.” (see Green’s Dictionary of Slang)
A New Dictionary of all the Cant and Flash Languages (1795) defines “Madge” as “a sodomite” and “Madge Cull” as “a buggerer.”
Madge Cove
Defined by A New Dictionary of all the Cant and Flash Languages (1795) as “a keeper of a house for buggerers.”
Patapouf
Norton suggest this was a synonym for “catamite”. The word was used by William Beckford in 1811; “I would not fly from a nice York patapouf if Providence sent him to me.” (Norton p225) Possibly the etymological root of “pouf”.
Pathic or Pathick
The bottom in anal sex
Example:
It is well known that there must be two Parties in this Crime; the Pathick and the Agent; both equally guilty.
(William Pulteney, A Proper Reply to a Late Scurrilous Libel; Intitled, Sedition and Defamation Display’d, 1731)
Patient
The bottom in anal sex
Example
Is there any reason for supposing it to be a fixed one? Between persons of the same age actuated by the same incomprehensible desires would not the parts they took in the business be convertible? Would not the patient be the agent in his turn?
(Jeremy Bentham, Offences Against One's Self, c.1785)
Windward Passage
Defined by The Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1785) as follows “one who uses or navigates the windward passage, a sodomite.”

“All I Saw Was You" Timeline
Summary:
My Stiles/Jackson series called "All I Saw Was You" starts 14 years after the end of season 2 which is what I call the "present". At the same time, you also find out what happened in the "past" and what happens in the "future". This timeline establishes an order of the chapters throughout the years but personally, I recommend to read it in the order in which is posted on AO3.
* This timeline will be updated when I post more parts.
* I’m posting it here to link it on the description of my series and delete it from AO3, so it needs to edited another day after deleting 3 chapters like this one that were not “stories”. I can’t risk losing my account or having it frozen again for something like this.
* I love to know what people think of the story, the OCs, the voices, etc... so feedback is very welcome and always cheers me up. I reply as soon as I can.
Notes:
I never expected to write this timeline and that's why I had not done it in six years—Because I still think that it's better to read the story as it's been posted, but Aceadams asked me last month if I had done one and I remembered that Wam6996 had also asked me about it a lot of time ago... so I started to think about it as a way to establish a sort of layout of the story in a more visual way (not as a reading order although people are free to read it as they wish/prefer), and finally, I was like "okay, why not?" So, I decided to write it down.
This has taken some time to finish, so it'd be nice to know if it's useful for anybody... because I also thought that, apart from those two people, maybe nobody would care about it.
Let me know if you have any doubt.
This post will be updated when I post more parts.

Subpar weekend. Just gonna have to try again.
So, yeah. Things didn't go as expected. Went to cafe 7teen around 3pm (after my afternoon nap), but it just wasn't giving. Not to mention I always get GERD symptoms whenever I go there (even though I only ordered Oreo Latte [non-coffee] this time). Had to walk a lot before going home, because now it's apparently not allowed to hail a tricycle like we used to -- we have to go to the nearest (but not near at all) terminal and then ride from there. Not to sound entitled, but talk about inconvenience. This is a subdivision, ffs. Just let us ride wherever we want. >_<
And so, I went home, took my early-evening bath, did my routine, played Genshin Impact, fed Hiro, and then went out for a light dinner in our subdivision. I was supposed to try the newly opened establishment right outside our street, but it didn't seem open yet (their signs are a little bit confusing, and idk, they didn't seem like they want to open lol). So I biked for around 10 minutes just to find the nearest eatery I like. I only ordered Bangus Sisig (P105), but I literally had to wait 35 minutes just for it to be served lmfao I was so pissed and wanted to explode, tbh. Like, it's okay for the food to be subpar, but it's NEVER okay to let your customers wait for 35 minutes, especially for an order as simple as that. Like, I wanted to scream so bad (even now, parang gusto ko pa rin, kasi nakakainis talaga). Hindi naman sa pag-aano, pero ayokong-ayoko talagang nasasayang ang oras ko. Huhu. Buti sana kung weekday ngayon. Chz.
So, yeah, I went home feeling defeated. Should've just gone to Black Kettle and ordered ham sandwich (even though medyo mahal siya and may tampo ako sa owner for seemingly snubbing me the last time I went there WHILE being nice to another [new] customer lol yeah mapagtanim ako ng sama ng loob hahahaha). As in, ugh.
Haha. Yun kasi yung naka-sched ngayon sa planner ko na movie. Lol. Anyway, ang ending, nag-Genshin na lang ako. Tinigil ko lang muna para mag-post dito sa Tumblr kasi feeling ko sasabog na talaga ako pag di ko 'to nailabas (chz ang-OA hahahhaha) pero ayun, sana maging masaya namang mag-Genshin, especially since online sa game yung college crush kong antagal na since huling login. Haha. Wala lang, para lang makita niyang online ako, kahit di naman kami nag-uusap or anything. XD
So, ayun. Do I feel better now na nakapag-post ako? Konting-konti lang. Mga 1% better lang, ganun. Huhu. Atsaka siguro, more importantly, I should put less pressure on my weekends and treat every single day the same. Na kung gusto kong mag-enjoy sa weekdays after work, then go (though ayun, syempre, medyo mahirap gawin lately since OT season sa work). Kasi more likely than not, nag-eend up talaga sa disappointment, since meron laging pressure sa sarili ko na maging masaya at eventful yung bawat weekend since "minsan lang dumating" or something.
Ayun lang. Laro na akong Genshin. Haha. Napakawalang-kwenta nitong post. But anyway, yun nga ang goal. For the sake of habit formation.

Ngày 27/6/2024
Hôm nay là 1 ngày quá đáng buồn, trưa này a đã nói đi đám dỗ nhà a Trung a nhậu ít vài lon rồi a về. Rồi a nhậu từ 11h-15h a về xã cũng k gọi cho e. Điện thoại cho a thì a nói chuyện cọc cằn.
Ở cơ quan làm việc mà e đứng ngồi k yên, đầu óc k thể tập trung nỗi, và cuối cùng điều e luôn lo sợ đã xảy ra. Lúc e nhận đc điện thoại báo a bị tai nạn giao thông tay chân e k còn chút sức lực nào; đầu óc trống rỗng. Rồi chạy qua bệnh viện đợi ngta chở a xuống mà lòng k ngừng cầu nguyện, cầu mong cho a được bình an khoẻ mạnh.
