i’m still pretty disappointed in the lack of changes made to coc since it really wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. mostly on an exposition level, since nocturne and 4 had a lot of exposition dumps but at least played around with camera angles and setting for them which 5 really should’ve done.
but something i don’t see talked about enough that coc not only excelled at but really should’ve been expanded upon was the moral aspect. by that i mean the ideas presented at the pandemoniac summit since ngl the cutscenes for it were really well done. it’s also super interesting on the level of reconteztualizing pros and cons based on decisions and other events, such as the demon invasion thing.
-you let humanity defend for itself without gods and though they have more than enough resources to potentially prevail and they’ll likely not have to worry about being taken advantage of by higher powers, they’re still frail in comparison.
-the law ending is definitely considered the best one and is definitely good but it’s also really flawed. letting one god rule would end plenty of fighting and usher in peace, but the issue (which desu overclocked in particular illustrated really well) is maintaining purity. god did die, and he is the dude who makes the final judgement calls, not the angels, but in his absence, the angels call the shots which can go terribly wrong. heck, even in the bible itself, the angels did act out and do have some selfish intentions depending on the story/are pretty fucking discriminatory even amongst one another. they can and will be pick-and-choose about who’s worthy of living and who isn’t. having a crisis of faith and a bunch of religious insecurities isn’t fun at all, so while everyone would technically be happier, they’d constantly be walking on eggshells. (also judging by what happens in chiyoda they’d be fucjing s t r u g g l i n g if everyone got attacked by demons.)
-having multiple gods rule allows for greater diversity, inclusion, and much greater protection. the issue with only one god that’s shown really well is that if they die and nobody can take their place, everyone’s fucked. this does help with maintaining humanity’s freedom, but this also means religious conflict will stay, and knowing how hellish it can get, it’s gonna get kinda nasty. this also means potentially more nahobino fights.
-tne is more of the same as neutral’s issue with the added problem of breaking the cycle means you only have one shot to make shit work. once it’s over, it’s over. it could be better than it was, it could be worse. tne itself shows how miserable it is because it’s just. everything keeps going and one day it’ll stop. there not being a cycle means there’s a loss in purpose for certain aspects of life. there’s at least a hope in a death and reincarnation loop that a life can forever impact others. no cycle means reaffirming the shitty doomer attitude of “we all die eventually so life’s pointless and we shouldn’t care” because yeah it wouldn’t be far from the truth.
it’s also just interesting because tne and a lot of the writing does emphasize that like it or not demons existing isn’t entirely good or bad and is in a lot of ways necessary. megaten has definitely been shifting more towards showing the relationship between humans and demons outside of just the spin offs (aka this is part of why devil summoner is peak), and since demons come from humans one way or another, they are natural and again morally grey in that regard. the pandemoniac summit scenes and many of the subquests help illustrate that messy relationship and i think by focusing on more than just waring factions and more demons as a whole is something that should’ve been expanded upon especially because of 5/5v’s themes of relationships.
i love what was done with cov but i do wish we saw more of those conflicting ideas. the law and chaos binary is well executed but it does lack some of the potential depth it can have without the context given by coc, and since coc has a poor reputation, chances are most people who end up playing vengeance will only play the new story path. both do compliment one another and serve to contextualize events, so to get the best understanding of cov’s plot, you’d have to be familiar with coc’s.
also just in general not having the usual “law is bad because we’ll all be drones chaos is bad because we’ll only focus on killing neutral better because humanity” is super nice ok i’m glad cov didn’t go down that route but i also wanna see more of the ups and downs dammit.

Standard equipment of the 778th Legion
The 778th Legion of the Heavenly Host is an auxiliary unit of the Heavenly Legions, entirely comprised of mortal souls. Saved who are unsatisfied with simply enjoying Heavens existence, taking up arms to fight with the rest of the Legions upon Creation.
As they are not Trueborn Angels, they lack the unmatched strength, speed, reflexes, and inborn martial prowess of their peers. Therefore they are equipped with the most technologically advanced equipment that Heavens forges can produce, to bring their physical performance up to par with their faithful fire.
Armor: The armor of the 778th is a semi-modular suit of interlocking angelic steel and blessed ceramic armor plating over an exoskeleton powered by the sun-fire of holy light.
The base suit is referred to as a ‘Harbinger’ Model Powered Combat Suit, and can be modified to serve a variety of battlefield purposes, examples given being overclocked power plants in the arms and reinforced gorget and vambraces for heavy melee combat, and extensive helmet sensor suites and targeting modules for snipers. The armor greatly augments the wearers strength, overland speed, and reflexes, allowing the Legionnaire to do battle against foes that would normally far outstrip a mortal soul, such as more powerful sinner-entities. Earlier models weight complicated flight, but downsizing of the power source and distribution system have made this a non-issue.
Standard Ammunition: The Legions firearms utilize a standardized round in many different calibers: Sanctified Mass-Reactive Banishment (SMRB) ammunition. Each projectile is lovingly and masterfully crafted, an angelic steel jacket surrounding a blessed silver core and a small explosive charge meant to activate upon striking a target. There are standard variations, including armor-piercing rounds utilizing a hardened angelic steel penetrator, hollow points for use against soft targets, etc.
Sidearm: The Model 277 ‘Judith’ is a semi-automatic pistol chambered to accept 12.7×41mm SMRB ammunition, standard issue to all members of the 778th Legion.
The ‘Judith’ is unique amongst handguns in that it utilizes a side-loading magazine, deemed necessary to maintain an acceptable ammunition capacity in the face of the necessarily large caliber it is chambered in, ten total, plus one in the chamber. The weapon comes in both left and right-hand dominant configurations, depending on the users preference.
This weapon has seen comparatively few updates since its conception, most of them revolving around ergonomics and minute adjustments to the Legions deployment zones, an instant and long-lasting hit with the 778th, so much so that Trueborn members of other Legions and certain members of the Guardian Conclaves have begun to carry them as well.
Standard rifle: The Model 3577 ‘Mercy’ Battle Rifle is a select-fire shoulder arm chambered for 7.62×63mm SMRB ammunition. It can cycle between semi-automatic fire, burst-fire, and fully automatic fire via a selector switch mounted on the trigger guard, with a cyclic fire rate of 650 RPM.
It is a highly modular rifle, capable of a great deal of personalization as well as customization for various battlefield roles, easily converted from a short-barreled carbine for Close Quarters Battle to a full-length Designated Marksman Rifle, depending on a Legionnaires deployment zone and particular battlefield role.
Long-distance engagement: The Model 137 ‘Jericho’ Anti-Materiel rifle is a long-barreled semi-automatic shoulder arm chambered in 20mm SMRB fed from a 3-round magazine, designed to engage particularly large or heavily armored targets from extreme distances.
A sharpshooters weapon, it is large, bulky, and unwieldy in close quarters, with an overall length of almost 8 feet and weighing almost 75 pounds, making it solely suited to engaging targets from a distance or from pre-established firing positions.
That being said, enterprising Legionnaires have described the weapons effects on targets in closer quarters to be ‘magnificent.’
Close Quarters Engagement: The Model 93 ‘Simon’ is a pump-action shotgun chambered to accept 8 gauge shells, with a capacity of 5 rounds in an internal tube magazine, plus one in the chamber. These rounds can be interchanged for a wide variety of purposes for example: Angelic Steel Buckshot and slugs, silver-tipped flechettes, blessed magnesium incendiary rounds, and cryogenically stable holy-water pellets. Less-than-lethal options exist, such as beanbag rounds and flash-bang shells.
The weapon is the workhorse of many anti-cultist operations, proving effectiveness in the often cramped space and limited maneuverability of the compounds such groups tend to prefer to nest in. It has also proven its knockdown power against various demonic entities, proven capable on multiple occasions of putting more powerful sinner-entities on their back with a solid shot center-mass.
Squad level fire support: The Model 115 ‘Retribution’ Squad Automatic Weapon system is a fully-automatic shoulder arm chambered in 7.62×63mm SMRB fed by disintegrating-link ammunition belts from a 200 round box magazine, with a cyclic fire rate of 850 RPM, fitted with a quick-change barrel system.
It is a superlative weapon for suppressing fire on covered targets, as well as engagement of groups of enemies. There is generally one issued to each Contubernia, a suitable solution for the Legions need for more robust mobile fire support.
Heavy Machine Gun: The Model 19 ‘Diligence’ Machine Gun is an air-cooled heavy support weapons platform chambered in 12.7x108mm SMRB ammunition, with a cyclic fire rate of up to 600 RPM, fed by disintegrating-link ammunition belts fed from a 110 round ammunition can.
The Model 19 has been a reliable workhorse against lightly-armored vehicles and large abominations for many years, imparting significant kinetic transfer and wound-channeling to its targets, often tearing human and human-adjacent targets limb from limb. While normally mounted in emplacements (such as those guarding the Heaven Embassy in Hells Pride Ring) or braces, a Legionnaires standard Harbinger combat suit allows a Model 19 to be carried and fired from the hip, albeit with significant drop in accuracy. Some Legionnaires have fitted their armor with advanced and specialized targeting systems to allow them to effectively utilize the weapon in this manner.
Anti-Armor: The Model 6 ‘Perdition’ personal missile system is a shoulder-fired anti-tank weapon firing a 127mm missile which can be fitted for anti-personnel airburst, anti-armor, or anti-air configurations. It features an automatic infrared ‘fire and forget’ tracking system, enabling the user to immediately seek cover after firing, unlike wire-guided systems, which leave the user exposed to enemy counter-fire whilst guiding the projectile.
Its anti-personnel munitions are tuned for airburst detonation, detonating above enemy positions, riddling the target area with angelic-steel shrapnel, blessed magnesium incendiary munitions, or silver-tipped flechettes. Its anti-armor munitions feature a dual-warhead system intended to defeat the reactive armor systems of tanks, but the technology has been found useful in breaching the carapaces of more heavily armored abominations as well.

Girlybro theres this post and it reminded me sm of leander! Its by frankiecorleone and it says ‘an ouroboros is the opposite of a pearl’ and jejdjdjejdjs i looked up pearl symbolism and its associated with the moon(goddess) but also with marriage. In relation with the ouroboros, a pearl is basically a hard core made by a cycle of creation right? Something that entered a shell by accident gets covered by many many layers,, which is like an outward creation instead of a self-negating and creating one.
(This is me just going off like a madman btw)
SO theres this lyric in bjork’s atopos that goes like ‘If we don't grow outwards towards love
We'll implode inwards towards destruction
If my plant doesn't reach towards you
There's internal erosion towards all
Pursuing the light too hard it's a form of hiding’
But also ‘hope is a muscle that allows us to connect’
AND like,, i already talked about leander and hope vs faith (faith consumes hope = ouroboros = no connection!!!)
But with the pearl (i think we as mc should embody it,, thats my hc anyway) its accident (birth, curse??) gets covered in layers of stuff (should be hope) creating a hard gem outwards (reaches outwards to connection)
idk about the shell tho. Is the shell the world??Is that a reason for leander to be so protective and all consuming? Him knowing theres has to be some cover needed for connection (and ideally him controlling it and creating it,, or at least redistributing what is) but failing to realise the destruction he causes?
ALSO (sorry) atopos calls out obsessions with reciprocity
‘To insist on absolute justice at all times
It blocks connection’
Another reason for leander failing to connect with ppl and maybe even the world!!
This is either rlly smart or a total mess idk,, also happy new year!!! — musa (deranged)
Woah happy new year thank you for leander food! I love when ppl talk abt all the possibilities w touchstarved so hell yeah. He sure is SHELLtering us (you can hit me for that its ok). We do be like a pearl, as we have something of value he would want to cultivate.
Im going to keep it 💯 hope, faith, outwards towards connection are stuff my singular brain cell is overclocking to even begin to comprehend but i can see youre onto sth esp w how much ure able to connect it w (im sure others reading this will get it way better than i am rn 💀)
I rly enjoy all this use of symbolism and metaphor its delicious

Some Atton headcanons
-Atton was a mouthy kid and always had an independent streak that got him into trouble, but he used to be much more of a social animal than he is now. His Alderaanian upbringing and the cheerfully patriotic Republic recruitment drives left him ill-prepared for the reality of the front, and Atton got very attached to his bunkmates in the days that followed. He used the friendly faces in his squad to keep himself grounded from the shit he saw on a daily basis, found that fighting for them was easier than fighting for the ideal of the Republic itself... and one by one, turnover replaced them with new faces. Eventually he started holding his comrades at arms' length because it was easier than getting to know them. No point when they'd all be dead in six months anyway.
-Continuing on that note, it wasn't much of a leap when the Sith taught him to harm and kill innocents as bait. His service had already led him partway down that slope by the time he left the Republic. Ignoring the mass sacrifice at Malachor, which he was present for and which killed what was left of his faith, Atton would have been made to bomb some difficult targets in a desperate and losing war - camps with slaves and children, Mandalorian-overtaken civilian targets, overrun ground battles that still had friendlies on the ground. It didn't take much mental gymnastics to justify his actions when murder was already a well-trodden reality of war.
-Atton's eyes used to be brown. During his Sith days, he began showing dark side corruption – not heavily, as his Force sensitivity was only nascent, but his eyes started to lose color, alongside paling skin and darker, thinner hair. It receded in the years following his desertion, but his eyes never quite returned to the way they used to be, which is why they're a very washed out hazel now.
-Atton sees himself as a deserter, but he's actually fiercely, dangerously loyal to anyone he thinks has earned it, and that's the reason he signed on with Revan in the first place. He's just never had a cause that didn't let him down in the end, and he walked out of the Jedi Civil War too damaged to put his trust in anyone or anything before the Exile and their literally magnetic personality sucked him in.
-He's compulsively aware of ways to kill the people around him, an awareness that's fluid with the environment, all equipment in reach, and the distraction and emotional states of all parties involved. Intrusive thoughts up the wazoo.
-Between the above, the anxiety, and the self-hate, he's usually in a pretty bad mood. The pazaak and other techniques aren't just mental shields for the purposes of keeping out Jedi, they're also tools to help him cut off his thoughts and get out of his head.
-Banter is another mental defense of his. He incites stupid, meaningless arguments to pass the time and occupy his perpetually overclocked brain. Doesn't really matter what he's saying as long as it's something, you know?
-It's hard to say which was worse for his hypervigilance – his days in the Sith, between the cutthroat politics and hunting down literal telepaths, or his days after it, on constant lookout for Republic and Sith alike. Atton's pretty good at keeping his twitchiness under wraps, since his entire shtick is method acting being something he's not. If you startle him out of sleep, though, you're liable to end up in a headlock for the couple of seconds it takes him to get his bearings. It's hard to sneak up on him, but his reaction to being genuinely spooked is vicious. Not a guy to throw a surprise party for.
-Atton's never had a real relationship. If he's 29-32 in 3951, he would have been 16-20 when he joined the Mandalorian Wars, which doesn't leave much room for anything past high school sweethearts. And he was way too broken when he left the Sith some seven-eight years before the events of KotOR II – between the barely contained self-loathing, the walling off everything that might be a real emotion, and the running, there was no way Atton was making connections that he wouldn't compulsively sever. So when he asks Bao-Dur for romantic advice, it's genuine. Atton may be a master of the one-night stand, but he has pitifully little idea what to do about feelings. He swaggers and plays confident, but if the Exile actually took him up on his flirting, he'd be completely flat-footed.
-Though several parts of his dialogue allude to a death wish, Atton isn't suicidal, per se. He may have been in the immediate aftermath of his desertion from the Sith, and he doesn't think he deserves to live... but dying now would just make that last Jedi's sacrifice even more of a waste than it already was. I think he sort of sees it that he doesn't have the right to it either way, and at the end of the day, it's not in him to give up. It's more of a recklessness, a fascination with the knife's edge that keeps drawing him towards the situations his instincts scream warnings about, and that's why he can't help pissing off dangerous people, why he keeps taking risky jobs he knows don't add up. Atton's addicted to the thrill of fighting for his life, of only having his wits and skills between his head and the barrel of a blaster. Flirting with death excites him on a pretty unhealthy level, but he only rarely acknowledges it for what it is – just that it makes him feel something other than his usual.

Snow Queen: The 53-hour adrenaline induced by giddiness Blogpost
Distortion and Inversion are one of the two things brought upon by the demon unto our world via the mirror he created. Once shattered to million pieces, it acted like a plague that would cloud and darken one's perspective and feelings as the examples given where beautiful things either shrink or become grotesque after being reflected in the mirror, or how Kay, who had a grain of broken shard of the mirror going inside his heart became a completely different person who showed wickedness and hints of cruelty. Stories such as the Snow Queen collection could only be found in a library mostly in the children's section if my memory from elementary serves me right. These stories have valuable lessons that isn't particularly accessible to majority of the population because not everyone would have an interest in visiting the library or the luxury of owning a book, but right now it can be easily accessed and for free with one tap of a finger for it has been adapted to the internet as an e-book. Right now these stories who have failed to touch the minds of those who aren't able to get their hands on the books can be read and understood by almost everyone. The impact of these stories being available online would entirely depend on whether the user of the internet would stumble upon it or even bother reading it, but it will never be a problem understanding and absorbing them for it is simple yet interesting. The Emperor's New Clothes, a story I most vividly remember because I used to read this over and over when I was… I don't know. 1st or 2nd grade? At that time I was but a child who couldn't even recite the multiplication table except for 2, 5, and 10 was able to understand the moral of the story which is not putting your complete faith to someone and to believe in yourself more as some times it is better to trust your own eyes and gutfeel rather than those around you as they might trick you like what happened to the emperor. What I'm saying is, that these stories hold so much value and it would only take at least 10 working brain cells to understand that way it can easily affect and benefit everyone who potentially has access to it. But enough of this fad over the classic stories being available online, let us also discuss the dark side of things. As it is common knowledge to everyone that the revolution started by digital publishing would one day kill and erase the presence of hard copies and traditional reading experience, there might still be some other things that would pose as a hurdle of challenge when it comes to e-books. Yes, they are accessible anytime and can fit tons of them into your gadget but what if there is no internet connection at the area, or your battery run out. Those were situations where traditional books come in handy. And not to forget the biggest problem we all our facing currently, each of us at least spend 4 hours in the internet looking, watching, reading something that it overclocks your brain to a point where you can no longer fir whatever the hell you read 1 hour ago because of too much information. Our brain can only retain memories of the ones we deem as interesting no matter how important something is if we find it boring, poof sayonara kiyoku-san! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ That is why at times I still think writing something down will be retained longer in your storage as it was in a different medium and whenever you try to remember something that is on paper, there would be no competition and it would most likely appear immediately.

Thinkin' about how Gamzee Makara is genuinely a Really Tragic Character. Like he spent his entire childhood unsupervised and unattended in the throes of a cult, developing an actual substance abuse problem in an attempt to self medicate because of the constant voices he appeared to be hallucinating. Except He Wasn't Fucking Hallucinating, THOSE VOICES WERE FUCKING REAL they were the Literal Devil and an unholy fusion of what would become of his debilitatingly loyal and subservient friend after Gamzee kills him and some thirteen year old alien But Fucked Up And Dangerously Overclocked By A Supercomputer made as a response to apocalyptic loneliness and said someone else's need to keep occupied and feel on top of things, and Gamzee could only hear them because his soul is irrevocably tied to the cursed artefact they all reside in that brings nothing but misery and paranoia wherever it goes. He developed a very laid back unbothered inscrutable personality in response to all the awful things he didn't want to be aware of and relied heavily on his faith in a pair of Mirthful Messiahs that would give deliverance to all and forever erase any unpleasant stagnancy in favor of a chaotic carnival of wonder.
When Gamzee calms down from his whole murderous rampage/vindictive ruining of the Beta Kids' Session thing, he Can't go back to the way he was. He Can't be the same person he was before. He never speaks the same again, we hardly see him speak again At All. His thirteen-year-old mind breaks under the realization that he is not who he thought he was. He is not the person who extends his own brand of kooky clownish shangri-la to those around him until they see the world as it should be. He is the tool of something malevolent and petulant and calculating and selfish. He decides (correctly if the deterministic Alpha Timeline is to be followed) that this cannot be helped, and simply leans into dissociation.
Like-- Karkat sees this kid when they're still on Alternia and is like 'I can fix him' and he tries so god damned mother fucking hard and fails in part if not only because he simply was not meant to fix Gamzee. Not because Gamzee never wanted to be fixed, but because when Gamzee sobers up and his head becomes clear enough for him to reckon with reality and he understands that: he hasn't been hallucinating the voices, the religious beliefs he has held above all else throughout his broken memory were corrupted half truths at best, and at least two of the trolls on this void forsaken meteor are dirty backbiters and bad friends who he believes don't deserve an ounce of forgiveness, he completely goes off the deep end and starts relying on The Literal Actual Most Evil Person To Ever Exist for judgement. How is Karkat supposed to remedy that when he doesn't understand or won't believe that the voices are realer than he previously believed and He Is Powerless To Dispel Them? When he truly wants all of them to just. Fucking. Be A Team and trust one another and be good to one another, but Gamzee no longer believes that was ever an option? What does one Knight wager against the Devil and The Narrative for someone's soul?
In that space of three years where he's growing into the offputting smelly clown husk of a teen that Jane meets in front of her house just before The Trickster Incident and that everyone in the fandom in my experience collectively frowns and groans audibly at, he tries to become comfortable in this new state. In the dreaded Retcon Spree that removed a huge chunk of the complexity happening in an effort to power through to an ending, it's revealed that he did genuinely develop black affections for Terezi, He Just Also Was Bad For Her and she wasn't what he needed because Nobody could give him what he needed because what he needed was to Not Be Connected To Lord English for one second longer. He brought out self loathing in her and no amount of fucking with her and getting into fights that were supposed to be stimulating and romantic but in reality were just hurtful and toxic could make him feel like he could be any semblance of any normal ever again.
I have thought about Gamzee taking care of Calliope and Caliborn from the shadows for Literal Actual Years at this point. He does it because he has to. Because it is his duty as steward and passive enabler to the evil locked inside Lil Cal. Because he has faith that this little sugar loving skrellington squiggle worm will grow up big and strong and horrifying, and it is imperative that he help that along. We never once hear him say anything about Calliope. It's as though she's not a factor that weighs at all in his mind. As though her existence is incidental to the fruition of his grander purpose in her brother's life. Does he think about her? Does he know that another version of her is what will do in the voices that have tormented him since he could comprehend speech? Does he want good things for her? Does he think Caliborn is good at this point, or does he just think he's Important? Is his perpetually placid vacant stare a mask he uses to become inscrutable, or has he truly locked away his every emotional reaction from even himself never to be found again?
The interaction he has with Kurloz and Meulin between becoming sober and becoming a caretaker where the other two are going all 'Hail Lord English' and doing The Cult Thing and he just looks at them with such deep contempt and says in all lower case 'shut the absolute mother fuck up' is So Fucking Important-- like he does not think this is fun and glorious and enriching anymore. He just knows it to be true and knows he's in this shit whether he wants to be or not. These two Chose this. Kurloz could've Run The Fuck Away from the chucklevoodoo bullshit that deafened his matesprit, and Meulin could've simply Not leaned into this evil toxic nonsense, but they both actively turn to it to cope. They see serving the power of Lord English as their salvation. Gamzee sees his salvation as completing his grim purpose and hopefully finding solace in oblivion, and he Cannot Fucking Stand these two talking like that grim purpose is a blessing that gives his life new dimension instead of a horrifying curse that ruined his health and relationships.
I don't mind the existence of The Retcon, I think a retcon was a perfectly sound writing decision given The Everything, but I really hate that the solution to everyone's problems in The Retcon was just bringing back Vriska so she could be The Most Important Person Ever just like she always wanted with no downsides and no caveats. This is in no small part because the solution she provides to The Gamzee Situation is just to domesticate him essentially. He won't be a problem if we keep him leashed up and under control. After all Gamzee's always been passive and only started being a problem when he started committing murders, so just keep him where we can see him and keep the option of murder off the table and Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen With Him Again~. And he Never Does Anything Else and We Never Hear From Him Again. Or if we do, it certainly wasn't consequential enough for me to remember it. Like, if you're gonna take the Gamzee Piece off the board while still holding the story together, just create a scene where the others banish him to Earth A during the timeframe where he's taking care of the cherubs and then bam! He's no longer a factor in the Alpha Medium while also still being able to do the things that he Must Do in order to retain the most continuity. Like I get that keeping him in the fridge for the rest of canon is a joke about fridging a character, but It's Not A Good Joke.
Gamzee Makara Deserved Better! I'm not even necessarily saying he should've gotten better. He deserved like. A Moment for us to see into his head before/whilst he went Full Catatonic Sycophant, as a token of respect for the Really Fuckin' Tragic arc he underwent. He deserved the ability to speak his mind post-Sober Murder Rampage. He deserved to be given weight beyond 'Anyway, now the murder clown is Also Here, so you know some funky shit is about to go down.' Or at least a proper transition into that 'portent of further chaos' role and not just a weird disconnected moment of Calliope going 'Yeah, bards are real passive and real fucky, y'all are lucky you don't have one in your session.' as a vague hint that Gamzee is doing the shit he does and appearing where he appears for completely inscrutable reasons that you shouldn't be looking into. Gamzee is one of plenty of characters in Homestuck whose arcs and selves kinda got lost in the shuffle, and It Makes Me Sad.
This essay has been brought to you by the emotions that arose in me thinking about how Gamzee Makara could've been a really good kid, and the only person who seems to mourn that loss is Karkat offscreen.

Some feats and scaling for SPOP Catra, Hordak and Scorpia
As detailed in this Deviantart post, Adora as She-Ra has multiple universal feats, but it wouldn't be fair to exactly scale other characters fighting her to this, especially that the story does not show them in this realm of power (there is also the power and durability inconsistency as mentioned in the comment, but on that latter).
Let's first start with Catra. We know Catra can contend as a near equal with She-Ra, even overwhelm her at times, and in the comic The Legend of the Fire Princess, Catra and Scorpia fighting together actually managed to defeat She-Ra.
Scorpia also managed to force out the Sword of Protection from Adora (as She-Ra hands). Rebel Princess Guide does have Adora explain Scorpia is almost as strong as She-Ra, suggesting Adora was caught by surprise of someone being also so strong (Adora is a sincere and not arrogant person, and was impressed by Scorpia here, so I think she would wrote of se exceeded her in strength).
The Battle for Bright Moon episode is also notable. In this, and previous episode, the overclocked Black Garnet caused a planet wide storm, that disrupted and weakened all of other Runestones, affecting all of the planet. As shown in the calculation here, just causing such storm is enough energy to destroy a "small planet" (akin in size to Mercury, dwarf planets objects are more or counted on vsbattles as large moons).
And this not all the Black Garnet caused, only a part of it - it also caused Tidal Waves, Fire Storms, Earthquakes all around the planet.
Adora, after regaining her faith in herself, dispelled the planetary storm, and other effects of the Black Garnet, even visibly overpowering it.
Later, Adora empowered Glimmer, Bow, Perfuma, Mermista, Netossa, Spinerella and Frosta, and in turn they empowered her back. With this Adora (exceeding her past power when she overpowered the Black Garnet) used a rainbow beam that one shot the Horde army, though literally blowing them away as the energy rainbow touched them.
Catra was also hit by this attack, but actually initially managed to struggle against it, and being struck by the full force of it (as opposed to others). She was kinda damaged by it, but nowhere close to critically, and retreated in part as she realized she and the Horde don't have now any chance at wining.
In season 5, Catra got struck by lightning magic from a chipped Scorpia, and survived relatively unharmed, if weakened.
The same attack after three strikes detransformed Adora, and latter caused her problems turning back into She-Ra.
(Though it should be noted Adora was here at an disadvantage, as she was fighting fully defensively at Perfuma's urging to not harm Scorpia, but still shows the power of Scorpia's lightning.)
It should be also noted here it was stated in season 4 and 5 First Ones restricted the power of the Runestones and Princesses, draining their power to the Heart of Etheria. Adora partially lifted this restriction in Battle for Bright Moon (indeed it does seem Adora unlocked the Runestones power enough they can at least resist and stop the overclocked Black Garnet in the future, hence this plan wasn't repeated), and their was further released in the season 4 finale. So it is at least very much probable now Scorpia has access to greater power than the Black Garnet's power, than it even had when overclocked, especially seeing her feats in the battle with Season 5 She-Ra.
I's also worth mentioning this She-Ra transformation (that fought im season 5 with Scorpia) is one Adora can use to full power, not restricted by the First One made Sword of Protection. The same power was shown in season 3 as capable of destroying reality and collapsing time and space, as well as Adora using it it to restore reality. Not saying Scorpia outright scales to that, but shows the magnitude of her unlocked power by season 5.
These attacks wouldn't blow a planet, but probably contained similar amounts of share energy but much more focused. Especially that this level of power is consistent with what was presented in the series storyline.
It should also explored (as it's also relevant for latter feats) that in the season 4 episode "Pulse", the giant Pulse-Bot, when self destructing, would wipe out half of the Whispering Woods. Whispering Woods (at least in a large part) surrounds the Kingdom of Bright Moon, one of the largest kingdoms of Etheria (only rivaled by the Horde Empire and Kingdom of Frost), and it was similarly large in other canons. So this is probably an explosion powerful enough to wipe out a medium country (or medium US state) at least.
It's also notable the Whispering Woods are supernaturally durable, with Horde forces not being able to destroy it for over two decades. In general previous an energy of a overclocked Black Garnet, was needed to do such damage. It wouldn't be all of these energy used, but still shows the amounts of energy required.
Now I mention this, as Hordak chosen to use his arm canon to blast through the Sea Gate, over using a variant of the Giant Pulse Bot even as a bomb, suggesting it's shots have more energy. (The Sea Gate itself before season one, survived over a decade at least of attacks by Horde Forces, slowly wearing it down, before Adora restored it to full operations.)
This stacks with other things the power of the arm canon was shown to do. Notably, during Catra's fight with Hordak, it was clear Catra knew she wouldn't survive being shot by Hordak's blast a second time. It's possible even her surviving the first time, was due to her possible nine lives ability (as suggested by the series creator Nate Stevenson, though it's unsure if he was serious), which seemingly allows her to avoid certain death 8 times, though it's possible it allowed her to avoid latter blasts. And again it might been a joke.
Both though options show the arm canon blasts were significantly more powerful than the rainbow energy blast, and Scorpia's lightning, with both being portrayed as less (even visibly less) of a lethal danger to Catra, while she avoided Hordak's blasts at all cost:
Hordak's durability in this fight is also notable - he took multiple hits in succession from Catra, including to his unarmored head (on which an about 700 metric ton metal claw also was dropped) and back. Catra was here fighting fully with the intent to kill, as she was fighting here for her life.
Catra's kick also shattered Hordak's arm canon, which used the same technology and composition as his armor, and the arm canon could contain the massive energies it generated before firing them, further showing the share force here behind Catra's strikes in this fight.
This curiously does suggest even without armor (and possibly supporting the idea the armor was depowered after Catra torn out the LUVD crystal), and in his decrepit state, Hordak is very durable (despite and outside of his body slowly falling apart on it's own), possibly strong, despite the same reason (as he had to lift the giant metal claw from himself), if certainly actions requiring large amounts of strength causing him immense pain, and causing further injuries to him. But the adrenaline rush from being immensely pissed at Catra (and despairing Entrapta's seeming death), and well just his psychological state, possibly overrode these (well the pain).
In general, I think this puts Catra, Hordak and Scorpia in the (at least) planetary range of attack power and durability.
To be clear, there are inconsistencies with some other situations characters seem visibly weaker or more vulnerable...but this happens a lot in fiction. Including other incarnations of Masters of the Universe, as written in the dA post I linked at start. And some examples from non-SPOP and non-Filmation shows:
He-Man being tied and fully immobilized by Tuvar's electric bola in the 2002 series (episode "Monster Within"):
and in the same episode by Badra using aggressive vines
In both cases, He-Man was presented as being at a visible risk of dying here.
in the DC Masters of the Universe comics, Despara/Despata keeping up in a fight with both Adam and Teela, and was doing very well, until Battle Cat's surprise attack interrupted the fight (2013 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #1-#2 He-Man):
So I think we can agree these are understandable.
In general, I think this a good middle ground, as one could scale Hordak, Catra and Scorpia higher of Adora's feats, though I discussed also issues with that.
These are also my thoughts on the issue, and you are free to disagree :)

I think about a direct epilogue of desu overclocked (haru end) so much. Kayuza Yuzu Atsuro Keisuke Midori AMANE….. they all need to go back to their previous lives, if those lives are still available to them.
You show up to school after summer break and the trio of kids in ref back look like they just slept for 18 hours each and they’re really twitchy now
gin and haru’s is my other personal favorite because of how relatable gin’s motivation is and how it perfectly reflects things in retrospect but also is really depressing when you think about it. it’s the ptsd/survivor’s guilt ending.
the government keeps lying about what really happened during the lockdown which already lead to a lack of closure + permanent affects of societal collapse and (justified) distrust in authority, but it definitely would get personal. anyone who survived the lockdown who witnessed family and friends die would never be able to give them a proper farewell or at least not get some sort of revenge or compensation, trying to tell everyone outside of tokyo what happened could be arrested/killed/generally never believed, etc. if you lost your home or business you’re fucked financially. politicians likely wouldn’t be affected but tbh the soldiers that were thrown into the lockdown with nothing to go off of might feel like they should’ve done more despite never getting the chance to truly fight back against the demons. they were just being used.
on an individual standpoint that’s definitely the most fucky part. the gang saw a bunch of people die gruesome deaths, there’s definitely some sort of codependency between kazubel and cainoya that’s unresolved (you can’t tell me their relationship isn’t at least kinda toxic considering how many hoops naoya is willing to jump through to get his brother to fight their real dad), yuzu’s paranoid for life, atsuo would have a lot of trust issues especially when it comes to being around cops and soldiers (wouldn’t blame him don’t care if his ending contradicts that shit he clearly looked up to them before realizing how corrupt shit is), kaido losing his brother, keisuke has fucked up complexes, i’m sure mari would feel a lot of grief if kids at the school she worked at died, midori’s far too pure and likely lost innocence, gin likely didn’t get closure, haru’s probably still suicidal or otherwise in a deep depression bc that shit doesn’t easily go away + possible imposter’s syndrome, amane’s forever trapped in a crisis of faith and likely finally realizing her father only had her to be a mouthpiece so her life until that point meant nothing, and honda loses his son no matter what (despite not being part of the gang it’s something that also was a kick in the balls so he gets a mention).
they all probably have separation anxiety too bc lockdowns do that to a guy. kazuya, atsuo, and yuzu are probably hugging one another for dear life after school every day and can never go for long without checking in. everyone needs therapy.
#i’m glad someone’s bringing up desu1 that game’s plot still sticks with me#held up way too well + the kids deserve better#shantien answers#devil survivor

Who are your top 5 devil survivor characters? :D
1. Naoya - There's a lot to love about his character, but I think my favorite thing is how fucking petty he is. I wrote something up about it a while ago, but I still think it's hilarious that chose to use Romans 3:1-10 for the Demon Summoning Program’s boot sequence. He's essentially just staring YHVH in the face and is saying "You want me to listen to you? Yeah, I'll listen to you, alright. I'll use your own words to show you what a hypocrite you are."
Basically:
2. Kaido - There are a huge list of reasons why Kaido is my second favorite, but ultimately, I think it boils down to the fact that it's heartbreaking to watch how the lockdown destroyed him. He starts off as an aloof, but nice, man-- breaking up fights between a gang member and an SDF soldier, and offering to help a complete stranger find his family member. But as the lockdown continues and he witnesses the awful, awful things that people are doing to each other, he loses faith in everything around him. Still, I think my favorite thing about him is that he's aware that he can't fully blame people around him for snapping, just as he did. If Keisuke is alive, Kaido will approach Keisuke to say he forgives him, and if Keisuke is dead, Kaido offers Atsuro the opportunity to kill him if Atsuro thinks that'll balance out the scales. A metaphorical nomad, Kaido is just the type of person who is shaped by his environment.
3. Keisuke - Hoo boy, I don't think there are enough words to describe how much I love this boy, so I'll try to keep it brief. The part about people beating an old woman to death after she tried to share her food with others was something that made me feel absolutely sick to my stomach. It's still upsetting to me ngl, despite the number of times I've replayed the game, and I find myself just mashing the A button to get past that dialogue so I don't have to read it again. When you consider everything that Keisuke has seen, it's so easy to sympathize with him and even want to root for him. It doesn't help that he tries to be as impartial as possible, saying that if Yama were to kill him, he'd be happy.
As a side note, his Japanese voice actor in Overclocked is so so good.
4. Mari - An extremely underrated character by fans, I think that she is legitimately the most terrifying character in the game. Mari starts off as a seemingly selfless person, worried about how hospitals are going to function in the blackout, and saying she needs to be on her best behavior as she feels she represents the school she works for. But after Kaido saves her, something in her switches. She feels guilt over his brother's death because she felt that she didn't support him enough, and never wants to feel that way again. What ends up happening is blind loyalty to Kaido and Kazuya. Gone is the kind and caring nurse who tries to be as upstanding as possible. She throws all her morals out the window without a single shred of doubt or remorse, going as far as wanting to kill innocent civilians if that's what it means to support Kaido/Kazuya.
5. Midori - I know, I know. Unpopular opinion. But I really love that she's just a little kid, a bright-eyed and naive middle school student, excited that she gets to tag along with the "big kids". Her sunny optimism definitely gets her into trouble and she is nearly killed because of it, but it also makes her the bravest and most selfless character in the game. There are multiple occasions where she will leave the party if she doesn't agree with your choices, and has no qualms about standing up to you and fighting you in the name of fairness and "magical punishment". Besides, who else would be able to teach a demon how to love?
thank you for asking!! (✿ ♥‿♥)
ask me what my top 5 anything are and i'll answer!

you had me at "mechanical spider" :) would you elaborate a little on that one?
Okat, two key things: Kasmei is (secretly) a gearhead who is fascinated by anything with moving parts, but does not particularly care for Dwemermania. There are several reasons for this: 1. it's associated with merish and later imperial academia 2. her lack of interest in history, lineage, ancient pasts, ancestry, etc. which is both an argonian cultural thing and also because she does not see herself as a product of argonian culture 3. instinctive & ingrained tribunal-faith-led distrust 4. finds walking around dead people's homes disquieting, more so than crypts. Therefore, her gearhead tendencies was mostly confined to her very brief time as an acolyte of Sotha Sil (though that didn't stop her for wishing she could get back into a workshop even after she left that life behind). it was from another acolyte with whom she barely kept in touch with that she acquired, sort-of-by-accident, this failed project to reconstruct a dwemer spider without tonal architecture. Kasmei was taken in by this immensely - a wonderful machine without all the dwemeri cultural baggage? or having to read through obstuse mistranslations of dwemeris? yes please - and inherited this pile of scrap brass she began tinkering on, spending a lot of time working on this as a pet project in-between other jobs. She kept it as a secret - Kasmei presents herself as a rough-and-ready leather-wearing professional soldier who you'll meet later at the bar, and she does not want people knowing she's either a nerd or that she's got ties to Sotha Sil's acolytes either.
She only got her spider working after she'd died and managed to drag herself back to nirn again as the vestige. She also completely fucked with the design in order to suit her own purposes - rather than a maintenance drone it was closer to a mount/steed, and she deliberately did the equivalent of overclocking it in order to travel on it at ridiculously high speeds. It's also painted black (a cool colour) with gold stripes (racing stripes). It's a complete bastardisation of what dwemer spiders are supposed to be and do. Kasmei knows this. Kasmei loves her spider regardless and takes pride in this. In literally any other situation Kasmei would find being super into dwemer-tech insufferable and embarrassing but she likes this - precisely because she has achieved a goal without engaging with what to her, feels like the subject matter of the academy.
ANYHOW Kasmei's cultural assumptions of the dwemer are challenged by meeting a real dwemer. Massively. And she actually tries very hard not to show Bthemetz this hacked anti-dwemer spider she clobbered together through years of tinkering and fucking about because it feels if not offensive just embarrassing, because she knows how much Bthemetz can't stand Dwemer fanatics (which Kas isn't). Bthemetz is only introduced to the thing in the 4th era when Kasmei has stopped pretending it's a big deal and just a coincidence - naturally Bthemetz loathes it, naturally, Kasmei offers her a 100kmph ride around the countryside, and naturally Bthemetz accepts, almost dies, and has the time of her life.
